We have been LOVING the Taste of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival! 2020 Taste of EPCOT And we’ve been even MORE thrilled with it ever since more food booths opened up this weekend! One of our absolute FAV booths actually just made its first appearance of the season: The Alps. The Alps Booth 2020 For those of you not in the know, this booth was new last year and features Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese served hot and fresh over potatoes, cornichons, and a baguette. If you REALLY wanna go ham, you can get this decadent, delicious dish with, well, Alpine Ham. Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette This booth JUST made its first, glorious appearance at a Taste of Epcot Food and Wine this weekend, but today, when strolling through World Showcase, we noticed that this spot was CLOSED. The Alps was closed Another booth opened up at EPCOT this weekend, Spain! 2020 Spain Booth Here, you can get Charcuterie with imported Spanish Meats, Cheeses and Olives with an Herb Vinaigrette or Spanish-style Paella with Chorizo, Shrimp, and Rice. Charcuterie and Paella Spain ALSO just opened up this weekend, but like The Alps, its windows were closed today. Spain closed We don’t know why these booths weren’t open on this particular Tuesday or when they will open again, but this isn’t the first time that an EPCOT Taste of Food and Wine Booth was unexpectedly shut down — Islands of the Caribbean has also been closed on certain days. Islands of the Caribbean is Closed If we get word of when these booths will be open so you can make sure you catch all that charcuterie and cheese, you know we’ll fill ya in! Click here to read our FULL review of the 2020 Taste of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival booths! Have you tried the food at The Alps or Spain? Let us know in the comments! Walt Disney World is always changing, growing, or under construction. Magic Kingdom However, many theme park projects were put on hold or canceled altogether when the global health crisis hit. Earlier, EPCOT’s proposed Spaceship Earth refurbishment and Mary Poppin’s attraction were postponed indefinitely. Then, Triceratops Spin, Stitches Great Escape, and Rivers of Light were permanently closed. Despite budget cuts and supply shortages, Disney has still managed to pull off a few new projects over the summer. Gideon’s Bakehouse You know we’re excited about this one! Gideon’s Bakehouse is an incredible bakery local to Orlando and it’s coming soon to Disney Springs! At Gideon’s, esteemed bakers create fascinating cake flavors and enormous cookies packed with goodies. A cookie from Gideon’s will ruin every other cookie for you forever. Seriously…they’re HALF POUND cookies and SO good. Gideon’s Bakehouse Gideon’s was announced back in June and construction has moved along quickly. We’re hoping to have an opening date soon! Take a peek at what you have to look forward to when Gideon’s Bakehouse opens! Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew Giant cookies and now donuts?? A trip to Disney Springs just got a lot sweeter! Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew is a new restaurant concept offering, you guessed it, donuts and coffee. Springs has a ton of restaurants open for lunch and dinner and now shoppers will have a solid option for breakfast! Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew The new restaurant will be tucked between Splitsville Luxury Lanes and the back of the AMC Movie Theatre. This was another unexpected June announcement. Construction has been hard to see and an opening date has not been announced yet. Get some of the details on Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew here! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Refurbishments While Disney is select delaying in-park projects, they are pushing forward with others. For example, just yesterday, Disney World announced that they were delaying the reopening of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort until 2021 for refurbishments. What kind of refurbishments, you ask? The Moana kind! Rooms at the Polynesian Resort are getting a Moana-inspired makeover. The rooms will be inspired by a Pacific Ocean color palette and details, patterns, and textures from Moana. (Disney, please tell us we’ll see a few Maui tattoos embedded in the carpet!) Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort The refurb will also impact the Great Ceremonial House (A.K.A. the main lobby). We’ll have to wait and see if Moana, Te Fiti, or Maui will make an appearance here too! Read more about the resort’s makeover here! Disney’s Beach Club Marketplace Refurbishment Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club Resort also closed for refurbishment. No, not closed indefinitely like the aforementioned attractions! This is a scheduled refurb. If you happen to stay at the resort, you can pick up snacks at the Solarium located just across from the Marketplace. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is also open so you can hop on over next door if you’re feeling snacky! The Marketplace Closed for Refurbishment No reopening date has been announced for the quick-service location, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates! Check out the resort’s food and beverage options now that Beach Club Marketplace is temporarily closed! Disney has seen quite a few setbacks since the theme parks closed in March. Despite this, they still churned out some new projects and are continuing with refurbishments. We’ll continue to watch for more Disney World updates, construction, and projects in the future. There’s no telling what the rest of 2020 has in store for us! Check out the construction progress for TRON Lightcycle Run in the Magic Kingdom! What do you think of the new Disney World projects? There are SO MANY delicious things to try at the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. France Festival Booth Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen some additional festival booths open, and others temporarily close. Tomorrow, the France festival booth will actually be introducing a BRAND NEW dish! We’ve had some delicious dishes at the France festival booth, including a lot of our favorites from EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival like the Tarte Tropezienne: Coulis Framboise. Tarte Tropezienne: Coulis Framboise Starting tomorrow, a BRAND NEW item will be available — Feuilleté d’Escargot à la Crème d’Ail et Persil or Escargot in Puff Pastry with Garlic and Parsley Cream Sauce. L’Artisan des Glaces posted about this new dish earlier on their Instagram. ©L’Artisan des Glaces via Instagram, Escargot in Puff Pastry with Garlic and Parsley Cream Sauce We’ve seen escargot in the past at the France festival booths in a variety of forms — like this Croissant aux Escargots with Garlic and Parsley from last year’s Food & Wine Festival… Cross-Section of Croissant aux Escargots with Garlic and Parsley …and these Escargots Persillade en Brioche from way back in 2012. Escargots Persillade en Brioche in France It sounds like this year’s version will be similar to the one from last year, except it will be in a puff pastry as opposed to a croissant. Once we get to sample this new dish, we’ll definitely let you know our thoughts on it! In the meantime, we’ve got some shopping to do — so much new Festival merchandise is now available! Disney’s Pop Century Resort in Walt Disney World is welcoming back guests with a spooktacular concoction! POP In previous years, we’ve been met with a ton of competition for the best Halloween treats including Pumpkin Spice Milkshakes, Haunted Mansion wedding cakes, and villainous floats. A ton of these treats are making a return to Disney World this year, but we were curious whether a certain spooky drink would make come back. So, guess what?? Pop’s Potion has made a return to Pop Century! We had the chance to get in the spirit of the season and try Pop’s Potion again. We had to see if tasted as good as last year, right? Pop’s Potion happened to be one of our favorite seasonal specialty drinks last year. (This treat is a little extra special because it comes with a kick of rum and Midori!) The sinister elixir is mixed with coconut rum, Midori, pineapple juice, orange juice, Sprite, and Blue Curacao. Pop’s Potion The bubbling beverage is then topped with creepy-crawly gummy worms and this year it even comes with a souvenir glow cube! We’ve seen the purple poison apple glow cube before, but we always get giddy when it shows up in our drink! Pop’s Potion This drink is VERY sweet, but if you don’t love blue curaçao, it may not be the drink for you. On the flip side of that, if you’re all about fun and colorful gummy worm drinks and a sweet sip, then totally go for it! Pop’s Potion The drink is $16 and can be found at Disney’s Pop Century Resort’s Petals Bar! And in just a few days we will have SO many spooky reviews to share with you. So, get READY!!! Hungry for more? Check out every Halloween treat coming to Disney World this year! Have you had Pop’s Potion before? Let us know your review in the comments! We stopped by Galaxy’s Edge earlier today to see if we could spot them, but a Cast Member let us know that the lightsabers are not in yet. There has been some commotion happening on the west coast that seems to indicate that Disneyland is hard at work preparing for the grand reopening of its theme parks! The resort originally announced a reopening for its two theme parks on July 17, but that had to be delayed indefinitely. Disneyland Gate With the Disneyland Resort showing more signs of life these days, we thought we would do a quick run-down of how the Happiest Place on Earth is preparing to reopen, whenever that may be! Keep in mind that these activities are not direct evidence to point to any sort of official reopening, and we won’t know for sure when Disneyland plans to reopen until Disney announces a date themselves! Downtown Disney Continues its Phased Reopening The biggest change since Disneyland’s closure began in March was the reopening of Downtown Disney! Since July 9, the shopping and dining district has welcomed back Guests daily from 10AM-8PM (10AM-9PM on weekends). Currently, only outdoor dining is permitted under a statewide mandate. Outdoor seating at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Crowds at Downtown Disney have steadily increased since the phased reopening began. Virtual queues have been used frequently, especially on the weekends, for shops like World of Disney and Marceline’s Confectionery. World of Disney Line There is clearly a demand from guests who want their Disneyland fix! While the theme parks are still closed at this time, you can at least pick up a churro toffee or shop for a new pair of ears! Click here to learn about the new RESERVED shopping experience at Downtown Disney Plexiglass Screens are Installed at the Main Gates and Turnstiles When Downtown Disney first reopened for Guests on July 9, plexiglass sneeze guards and shields were already installed at the turnstiles for both theme parks. In recent weeks, more of those larger plexiglass shields were added to the gates themselves. Disneyland’s Gate on July 9 These shields are one of the many ways Disney is promoting a safe environment for both guests and Cast Members, and these new installations at the theme park gates could suggest that Disney is preparing to welcome guests back sooner rather than later. Plexiglass shields installed at the entrance to Disneyland However, keep in mind that since the turnstiles have had the plexiglass installed since at least early July, these additions could just be another project Disney is taking care of now so they don’t have to worry about it later! Something is MISSING from Downtown Disney! Click here to learn more. Construction is Happening Around The Emporium While we can’t be inside Disneyland Park, we can get the SLIGHTEST peek inside from the main gate. A few weeks ago, we noticed that construction had begun around The Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. Construction outside the Emporium Scaffolding can be seen covering the building without any masking from the esplanade and as of right now it looks like crews are doing cosmetic work on the facade. Emporium construction So, whenever Disneyland reopens, the Emporium should at least have a fresh coat of paint! We can’t shop at the Emporium quite yet but we can shop at World of Disney! Click here to see some of the Halloween merch available! Hand Sanitizer Locations are Noted in Both Theme Parks Online Since Downtown Disney began its phased reopening, hand sanitizer stations as well as hand washing stations have been plentiful. But recently, we have been able to get a sneak peek at where these stations will be located throughout the PARKS! © Disney Disneyland’s official website as well as the Disneyland App now show where handwashing stations and hand sanitizer dispensers will be located in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. © Disney These handwashing and sanitizer dispenser locations are also noted throughout the Downtown Disney District. After months of being separated, we were finally reunited with Disneyland beignets! Click here to read more. New Landscaping is Coming to the Disneyland Hotel Finally, it looks like the Disneyland Hotel is getting a fresh new lawn in the coming weeks! On our last trip to Downtown Disney, we spotted some signage on the grounds of the hotel to indicate that some landscaping work is about to begin. Disneyland Hotel grass sign In Disneyland’s original reopening announcement, a reopening date was not included for the Disneyland Hotel. This landscaping work could be one of the reasons why, and we’ll be sure to monitor the progress made over the next few weeks. Disneyland Hotel grass As always, we are keeping a VERY close eye on Disneyland for any sort of reopening announcement. Remember, until Disney officially announces a date, we do not know when the theme parks will reopen! As of this writing, California has yet to release any theme park reopening guidelines, which are key for any park to open, including Disneyland. Click here to read more about Governor Newsom’s new tiered monitoring system and what it could mean for Disneyland’s reopening! Will you visit Disneyland soon after it reopens? With limited capacity and no FastPass+ being two major changes in a reopened Disney World, many have wondered exactly what the impact has been on the average wait time for the many rides and attractions at the four theme parks. Crowds at Magic Kingdom After visiting the parks nearly every day since the phased reopening began and checking out the various wait times for ourselves, we wanted to share some insight on what expected wait times have been versus what the reality ACTUALLY was! Wait Times Overall This should be music to many people’s ears: across the board, wait times are significantly shorter than we were used to seeing pre-closures. Especially during the summer months, we are accustomed to seeing some of the longest wait times of the entire year! Let us be the first to say that it doesn’t get much better than a 5-minute wait time for Flight of Passage! Screenshot From My Disney Experience App We aren’t exaggerating when we say five minutes. Since the attraction first opened, Flight of Passage consistently has had one of the longest posted wait times, frequently topping 120 minutes or more! But now — it’s a walk-on. Flight of Passage Queue Just because wait times are reduced, it doesn’t mean your experience in the line will be totally smooth sailing. There’s still the risk that a ride will experience downtime while you’re in line (possibly for cleaning), making your wait time slightly longer. When you remove those variables, however, waiting for an attraction at Disney World now is a much less lengthy experience than pre-closure. Peter Pan Queue Pre-Shows Are Eliminated Or Shortened Another factor to consider is the lack of pre-shows. To accommodate physical distancing and to eliminate any chances of groups clustering together, Disney has either eliminated or shortened the pre-shows at most of their rides. That means no stretching room in Haunted Mansion! Walking through The Stretching Room This may lend itself to shortening the wait times even more. Cast Members no longer have to stop the line while a pre-show is in progress and instead guests can flow right through the room where the pre-show typically takes place and keep the line moving. While this could put a damper on the story of the attraction, it can also shave some time off of your average wait in line. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Pre-Show. Hondo does not give his typical speech and instead Guests are allowed to pass through the room. That said, since the parks first reopened in July, we have noticed a modest uptick in the average wait times across all four parks. While we may expect to continue to see these wait times look more “normal,” in our estimations, these are still vastly shorter times than when the parks are at “normal” capacity. Click here to learn more about how the crowd levels have changed since Disney World reopened! Posted Wait Times vs. Actual Wait Times Most people look to the posted wait times at attraction entrances as well as on My Disney Experience as an indispensable tool when planning your day in the parks. But from time to time, those posted times can be a bit deceiving, with the actual wait time either being shorter or perhaps even LONGER than what the sign at the entrance to the queue says! Screenshot of Wait Times In our experience, the posted wait times are either accurate and match the actual amount of time we wait in line, or the posted wait time ends up being a bit higher, meaning we waited in line for LESS time than we anticipated! Slinky Dog Dash Queue In several instances, we saw posted wait times of 40 minutes and in reality we only waited 15-20 minutes, even on more popular rides like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Tower of Terror! The line may even LOOK quite long but keep in mind that social distancing measures are in place to keep parties apart, which will naturally “stretch” the line out to make it look longer than it actually is! Splash Mountain Attraction Line If you see a wait time of 15-20 minutes, in our experience that USUALLY means walk-on or very close to walk-on. One day recently in Magic Kingdom we waited 8 minutes for Pirates of the Caribbean when the posted wait time was 15 minutes. We also got in line for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train with a posted 45 minute wait and ended up waiting about 25 minutes ’til boarding. Later that same day we noticed Space Mountain had a posted wait time of 15 minutes, but we got on in just 5 minutes, which is practically how long it takes to simply walk to the loading area! Space Mountain On another recent trip to Hollywood Studios, we saw a posted wait time of 25 minutes for Tower of Terror and got on in 15 minutes! But even when the wait time is accurate, we can’t argue with a 20-minute wait for Peter Pan’s Flight in the middle of the afternoon during the Summer (or, even better, a posted wait of 20 minutes that ends up being a walk-on like we saw recently!). Peter Pan’s Flight Queue Rides May Be Closed For Cleaning, Which Can Affect Your Wait Time In most circumstances, the times when the actual wait time ended up being LONGER than the posted wait time was if Cast Members end up cleaning the vehicles. This can take up to 20 minutes, depending on the ride or attraction. Sanitizing Splash Mountain This occurred when we waited in line for Muppet Vision 3D in Hollywood Studios. The posted wait time was 10 minutes (with shows running approximately every 20 minutes), but we ended up waiting for a total of 20 minutes because they had paused in between shows to clean the theater. Muppet*Vision 3D Some rides clean every other vehicle as they load, which keeps the line moving, however it IS at a slightly slower rate. Other rides will shut down completely while they clean, meaning you are standing in line the whole time in one place. This may be hard to avoid during your visit to the parks, so be prepared for those unexpected halts in the line! Click here to find out what surprised us the most when it comes to Disney cleaning their ride vehicles! When are wait times LONGER than we expected? Despite usually waiting less time in line than we anticipated, there have been a few notable exceptions. Some lines around Disney World have taken a bit LONGER than we expected! Frozen Ever After Queue First, there was that line for the Splash Mountain gift shop during the preview days and earliest opening days at Magic Kingdom. The wait was HOURS long — much longer than the wait time for the ride itself! We never thought we would see the day where a line for a gift shop was longer than the wait for the actual Splash Mountain RIDE in the middle of scorching hot July! The line for Splash Mountain merchandise Then there’s Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This wildly popular attraction still uses the Boarding Group system in order to ride, but it’s just as difficult to actually GET a Boarding Group as it has ever been. As of this writing, Boarding Groups are distributed at 10AM (park opening) and 2PM, but the groups still fill up within MOMENTS! Screenshot of My Disney Experience App We have also seen a couple of instances where the standby lines ARE rather lengthy. For example, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway can get busy, especially earlier in the morning (we have even been turned away from getting in line if it’s at capacity!). Most days, at park open, we’ve seen Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway posting 75-90 minute wait times but, even an hour later, the times often drop near the 45-minute mark or slightly lower and hover around there for most of the day. Recently, we hopped in line with a 30-minute wait and were on the ride within 20 minutes! Cast Member outside of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway In general, Hollywood Studios appears to be the one park that seems to have longer wait times compared to the other parks — sometimes even long enough to be considered “normal” as determined by pre-closure crowd levels. After all, it does have fewer attractions to soak up guests than the other parks. The average wait time throughout the day is about 30-45 minutes or slightly higher for popular attractions, in our experience. Keep in mind though, it’s not uncommon to see big fluctuations in wait times even over a short period of time. Popular rides like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, or even Slinky Dog Dash can jump from 15 minutes to 55 minutes and then back down again in the course of an hour! Timing can be key. Be prepared to keep those wait times handy when choosing which attractions to experience in this park. Click here to learn more about why Hollywood Studios seems to be the odd one out during Disney World’s phased reopening. While we cannot promise that every ride’s actual wait time will be SHORTER than their posted wait time, you should expect to find a fairly accurate estimation when in the standby queue. The lack of FastPass+ has seemed to streamline the queue experience, with the exception of Cast Members needing to temporarily pause boarding in order to sanitize the ride vehicles. No matter how you look at it, a trip to Disney World these days means you should be able to easily fit in all that there is to do on your must-do list in a single day at each park! It was a cloudy day in Disney World… Magic Kingdom … but that didn’t keep us from feeling the MAGIC in Magic Kingdom, where we strolled right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. — and everywhere else in the park, too, of course! — to show YOU what’s NEW! Let’s go! Magic Kingdom Food Updates Ok, so this isn’t exactly new (especially since Pumpkin Spice Lattes already hit the scene last week, and we’ve had… oh, a FEW )… but is there any better combo than your favorite Starbucks coffee drink and Cinderella Castle? Starbucks and Cinderella Castle I think not. Moving into Tomorrowland, something new did draw our eyes… Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies Over at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, we spotted a menu posted outside this soft-serve spot. Outdoor Menu at Auntie Gravity’s If you’ve ever paid a visit to Auntie, you know this counter service location is rather small, so perhaps this is meant to encourage guests to peruse the menu outside before entering in order to maintain physical distancing within the snack stop itself. Speaking of physical distancing… Magic Kingdom Construction Updates Main Street, U.S.A. If you’ve been virtually hanging out with us in Magic Kingdom recently, you may recall that Main Street, U.S.A. was sporting some masking tape recently to denote physical distancing markers. Main Street, U.S.A. These had been added so guests could maintain safe distances from each other while enjoying the completely charming Character Cavalcades that take place throughout the day! Main Street, U.S.A. Well, it seems like the sticky tape wasn’t doing the whole trick, as easier-to-spot (and stick, we presume) green distancing dots have been added along Main Street on the Emporium’s side. We’re looking forward to the NEW Cirque du Soleil show that’s coming to Disney World! Cirque du Soleil Drawn to Life was supposed to premiere at the Disney Springs Cirque du Soleil location earlier this year. Of course, due to the closure of the parks and the construction halts, the opening of the show has been delayed (multiple times), and now, a new permit shows that some work on the Cirque building has had to be extended as well. The permit is an extension of one that was filed back in January for the “Cirque du Soleil Rehab.” The original expiration date was for August 31st, but now the expiration date is October 31st. This gives Imagineering teams another two months to wrap up work on the building. Permit Screenshot With the show officially delayed to 2021, this delay in work does fit with the new schedule. The permit shares few details on what is actually taking place on the building. But, we’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for any visible work on the outside of the building. The EPCOT Transformation has been a BIG item on Disney’s to-do list for some time now. Epcot Construction As you might know, Future World is set to get a pretty major makeover into the new World Celebration complete with new greenery, new statues, and more! This work has been ongoing for a while and Future World is pretty crisscrossed with construction barriers right now. Well, a new permit lets us know a little bit about the progress behind the barrier! The new permit was filed as an amendment to a permit filed earlier this year. The work is for “Project G” which has been associated with the EPCOT Transformation to work on foundations in the area of the old Pin Central location. Specifically, work has moved on to “foundations for miscellaneous AD elements.” “AD” here could stand for “architectural design.” Permit Screenshot The firm noted on the permit is one that typically does major work for Disney so this could be a pretty largescale aspect of the project. The permit extends the due date for this segment of work to March of 2021; this could be to help contend with the delays caused by the park closures earlier this year. Pin Central in 2019 Whatever the new foundational elements mean for Future World, we’re SUPER excited to see this area when it’s complete. Things at Disney World are constantly changing. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Whether you’re looking to stay at a Disney hotel during your next visit, or just looking to stop by to grab a meal at one of the hotel restaurants, these are the 5 updates that could change your vacation plans. 1 — Lots of Changes at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are currently open and available for guests. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (meaning non-Vacation Club rooms) was most recently set to reopen on October 4th, but we shared with you yesterday that the resort will not be reopening until summer 2021. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort While the resort is closed, refurbishment work will be completed. As part of the refurbishment, guest rooms will get a Moana-inspired makeover. Enhancements will also be made to the Great Ceremonial House. Work on this project is expected to begin in October. ©Disney Also in October, the Monorail station at the Polynesian will close temporarily and remain closed likely until 2021. But, bus transportation to Magic Kingdom will be provided to guests at this hotel starting in October. Monorail access is one of the greatest perks of staying at a deluxe resort like the Polynesian, so if hopping on the Monorail every morning to rope drop Magic Kingdom was part of your vacation plans, you’ll have to consider whether you should stay at another resort. Monorail at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort If you were planning to stay at the Polynesian Resort in 2020 or even early 2021, your vacation plans will definitely be impacted by these changes. Disney will be accommodating guests who are affected by this at a different Disney World Resort hotel for no additional charge. If you had an upcoming reservation at Polynesian Village Resort, keep an eye out for an email from Disney. Coconut Mug at the Polynesian Although the Villas and Bungalows will remain open, guests staying there will also be impacted by these changes. Parts of the hotel, including the Great Ceremonial House, will be undergoing refurbishment, meaning there will likely be a bit more noise and commotion in those areas at certain times of the day and shopping and dining in this area could potentially be impacted. Polynesian Village Resort Lobby as viewed from upstairs Other guests will be impacted by these changes as well. If you had plans to end your Magic Kingdom park day with a quick hop on the monorail and dinner at Kona Cafe, that won’t exactly be a direct option anymore. Guests will still be able to take the monorail or ferry from Magic Kingdom to the Ticket and Transportation Center, and then walk over to the Polynesian, but it would just require a bit more planning and effort. Stitch Cupcake Once construction is complete, however, fans of Moana may actually want to change their reservations to be able to stay at the Polynesian instead of whatever hotel they were booked at to enjoy the remodeled spaces. We’ll definitely keep an eye out for any more updates from this hotel. Guests have to undergo these screenings prior to entering dining locations. Kona Cafe Meal Any guest with a temperature of 100.4 F or above is then directed to additional rescreening. If their temperature remains high, they, along with their party, won’t be permitted to enter. Temperature checks are now required at the theme parks, Disney Springs, and table-service restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Whispering Canyon Cafe in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge The temperature check is just something to keep in mind as you make your plans to dine at a hotel restaurant. Most importantly, you’ll want to be mindful that if anyone in your party has a temperature of 100.4 F or above, your entire party will not be allowed to dine at the restaurant. Mickey Waffles for Breakfast? But, recently we got confirmation that in-room dining had in fact returned to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The room-service menu is currently limited, but it is still interesting to see that it has returned. Yacht Club Resort Lobby While we have not seen any official announcements from Disney, it’s possible that in-room dining will slowly begin again at other resorts on property. If you love sleeping in late, ordering room service, and enjoying a relaxing meal in your resort room, you’ll definitely want to keep in mind that this is not an option at any of the Disney hotels except the Yacht Club at the moment. But, it may become available in the future. This may be a particularly nice option for those guests looking to enjoy a meal in a more private location for purposes of maximizing social distancing. We’ll definitely be on the lookout for more updates there. Click here to learn more about in-room dining returning to Yacht Club! 4 — Hotel Reopening Date Changes Aside from the Polynesian, other resort hotels have had their reopening dates change in the past. Initially, Art of Animation Resort was set to reopen on August 12th. Now, Art of Animation is set to reopen on November 1st. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently scheduled to reopen it’s non-DVC rooms on September 21st, and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is set to reopen on October 14th. Art of Animation Lobby Although Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn were both supposed to reopen August 24th and October 1st respectively, they have now both been removed from the reopening calendar. The All-Star Resorts are still awaiting reopening dates as well. Disney’s Beach Club As we noted before, things in Disney World are constantly changing. So, it’s possible that some of these resorts’ reopening dates will be changed, and it’s possible that those resorts that have been removed from the reopening calendar will remain closed for an extended period of time. Boardwalk Resort We’ll definitely be watching for more updates from Disney to see if they issue any updates related to these resorts. While Disney’s Yacht Club Resort did in fact open as scheduled recently, it’s possible that more changes are still in store for those resorts that have not yet reopened. If you’re like us, grabbing lunch at one resort, merchandise at another, and a mid-day snack at a third sounds like a dream day. We could easily spend our entire vacation just enjoying the resort hotels. But, can you resort hop anymore with all of the new rules in place? Disney’s Pop Century Resort According to the Disney World website, just to get INTO a Disney World hotel right guests will need a confirmed room reservation, or a confirmed dining reservation (if you’re a day guest not staying overnight). Disney’s Old Key West Resort So, can you really resort hop anymore? The answer is yes and no. Our experience has really varied depending on what resort we’ve tried to get into. Oftentimes, it depends on the Cast Members you encounter when you’re trying to enter the resort. One of our biggest recommendations to accomplish your resort hopping plans is to have a dining reservation or a Mobile Order placed for pick-up at the resort you’re trying to visit. Generally, the Cast Members we’ve encountered have been fine with us being at the resort if we were dining in or picking up some delicious treats. Centertown Market Mobile Order Keep in mind, it’s also easier to hop to certain resorts like those on the Resort Monorail loop or those with access to Disney’s Skyliner because you can avoid having to use a car or rideshare to get there. Other hotels, like the Beach Club and Yacht Club are also easy to walk to from EPCOT. Disney’s Skyliner If you don’t have a dining reservation, you can now put your name on a waitlist for some resort restaurants which could also enhance your resort hopping experience. If you love to spend some of your vacation exploring the resorts, just be sure to keep these rules in mind. If you’re driving to a resort in your own car or through the use of a rideshare service, be prepared to potentially be turned away if you don’t have a reservation or mobile order.
