Then, you’ll definitely want to check out Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where you’ll get the chance to fly the Falcon yourself! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge But, today it seems like the Falcon experienced some complications and had to evacuate its guests. It appears guests were evacuated earlier today from Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. One user on Twitter noted that the area smelled like smoke and that the fire alarm went off. Check out the video below. Those tweets all appear to have been from about an hour ago. When we checked around 5PM (ET) today, the attraction was showing a 40 minute wait time in My Disney Experience. We saw a lot of changes when Florida’s theme parks reopened, including many at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida. Camp Jurassic at Universal Studios Florida Many of these changes involved social distancing: not just in the parks, but also on the rides. Since reopening, theme park attractions have been seating guests in every other row. However, Universal Studios Florida just recently announced a change to that policy. When a guest asked Universal about it via Twitter, Universal confirmed that it had gone back to seating guests in every row on certain attractions. The park states that it has discussed this new policy with local health officials. Previously, separate parties were loaded on every other row to keep groups of guests separated when riding on attractions. That now no longer seems to be the case at Universal in every situation. However, guests are still encouraged to maintain social distancing, required to wear face masks (except in certain uRest areas), and must undergo temperature checks. Splash Mountain line at Magic Kingdom It’s not clear if Disney World will follow and implement this kind of change at its parks anytime soon, but for now, Disney World is still maintaining distancing on attractions. We’ll keep an eye on the news for any other changes that Universal or Disney might make in their parks, so stay tuned! Several of Disney’s hotels and resorts around the world have reopened, but others remain closed. ©Disney One of the resorts that is currently closed is Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. Previously, Aulani pushed back its earliest available reservations into August. Now, Aulani is cancelling reservations at the resort through some of the fall. Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa closed earlier this year, along with other Disney resorts. ©Disney Later on, Aulani pushed back available reservations into August, but the resort remained closed through the summer and still has not reopened. Not too long ago, we shared several reasons why we believed that Aulani would likely not reopen until October at the earliest. But, we also shared that an increase in COVID-19 cases in Hawaii could result in a lengthy closure for Aulani. ©Disney Now, we’ve got an update on Disney’s Aulani Resort and when it could reopen. As the Aulani website indicates, the Resort remains closed and a reopening date has not been identified. Aulani Resort We’ve received word, though, that reservations at Aulani through October 17th will be canceled. Guests who have a vacation to Aulani booked during the closure period can cancel their room reservations and Disney will waive any Disney-imposed room reservation cancellation penalties. Minnie The Aulani website also currently notes, “Upon reopening, Aulani Resort rooms, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or closure based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing. Furthermore, experiences, services and amenities may be modified, have limited availability or may remain closed. Offerings are not guaranteed.” Hawaiian Mickey We’re not sure when Aulani will reopen, but we’ll keep an eye out for more news about the Resort, and the other Disney parks, resorts, and hotels around the world. In a conference held yesterday, a Disney executive indicated that Disney Cruise Line would be one of the last of Disney’s businesses to resume. Disney Wonder ©Disney We already shared with you that departures would be suspended through the end of October, but now we’ve got an update on some cruise cancellations. On August 5th, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), announced “that its ocean-going cruise line members have agreed to voluntarily suspend U.S. cruise operations until at least 31 October 2020.” Soon after, Disney, who is a member of CLIA, announced via its website that it would be suspending all departures through October 31st. ©Disney Now, we’ve gotten word, thanks to some of our fantastic readers, that, in accordance with that policy, Disney has been canceling sailings through November 6th. The notice sent to our reader specified that Disney Wonder sailings would be canceled through November 6th, but we anticipate this cancellation applies to any other Disney Cruise Line sailings scheduled during that time as well. Castaway Cay Guests who have paid their reservation in full can choose to receive a 125% future cruise credit, which they can use on a future sailing prior to May 31, 2022, or a full refund. The notice provided to guests notes that the credit would be automatically added to their account and could be used as a payment option when booking a new reservation online. Guests who end up not being able to use the Future Cruise Credit will be eligible for a refund up to the amount of the original voyage fare plus the cost of the Vacation Protection Plan, if applicable. Castaway Cay Guests who have not paid for their reservations in full will automatically get a refund of whatever they have paid so far. ©Disney Cruise Line Disney has also been offering some cancellation flexibility for its guests. And, they’ve extended their cancellation flexibility policy to cruises departing through May 2021. This policy applies to any cruises booked by October 31, 2020, for sailings through May 2021. Guests for whom this policy is available will have the option to change their sale date up to 15 days before departure. Captain Minnie ©Disney With the recent statement by the Disney executive noting that new cruise ships have been delayed and that their cruising business would likely be the last to resume, this may not be the last of the cancellations that we’ll see. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is still closed at the moment, but is scheduled to reopen on September 21st. Grand Floridian Cafe The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, however, are open, as well as several restaurants in the Grand Floridian. Today, we got the chance to eat at one of the restaurants in the Grand Floridian and found out about some super special secret menu items — you’ve got to check them out! Grand Floridian Cafe is a table-service restaurant located inside of the Grand Floridian. It reopened some time ago, and we had the chance to eat there in June. While we were there, we noticed that one of our favorites — the Chicken and Waffles — was not unavailable. Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles We had been hacking this dish for a while with Mickey-shaped waffles or a Belgian waffle, and then Grand Floridian Cafe ultimately added it to their menu as a Hand-breaded Chicken Breast, Cherrywood-smoked Bacon Malted Waffle, with Sriracha-honey Drizzle. But, it was missing from the menu when we visited in June. Grand Floridian Cafe Chicken and Waffles When we visited today, we saw that Mickey-shaped Waffles are still on the menu, but the chicken was not. But…a kind Cast Member who we spoke to revealed a very special secret to us. You MAY still be able to order the Chicken & Waffles if you specifically ask for them! So, you know we HAD to get them. Chicken & Waffles The chicken is different than what we’ve seen in the past. We got two thinner pieces, rather than a singular thick piece. But, it was so great to enjoy this combo AND they still have the Sriracha-honey Drizzle available as well which totally made our day! Chicken & Waffles Keep in mind, this is not officially on the menu. It’s a surprise item and definitely a delight if you can get your hands on it. We were able to order it today, but that’s no guarantee. You might be able to munch on this special treat, or they may not be able to make it for you — but, it never hurts to ask! Chicken & Waffles And that’s not the only secret item at Grand Floridian Cafe. The French Toast is also not on the menu BUT we were told you might be able to order some of that too if you ask! Grand Floridian Cafe We also saw that some of the glow cubes we’ve spotted in the parks were available for purchase here. A special event for the holiday season is coming to Give Kids The World Village in Central Florida: Night of a Million Lights! ©Give Kids the World Give Kids The World Village is a non-profit resort that provides a “storybook” setting where children with critical illnesses together with their families enjoy weeklong vacations (including transportation, tickets to theme parks, and more) at no cost. From November 13, 2020 through January 3, 2021, the Give Kids The World website shares that “the Village will come alive with A Night of a Million Lights!” This walk-through holiday light spectacular will showcase more than one million lights in the 84-acre Village! ©Give Kids the World Though the Village is currently closed due to the global health situation, preparations are in place for this special event. Tickets for Night of a Million Lights will go on sale in early October, and all ticket sales will benefit Give Kids The World Village. After the U.S. (and Walt Disney World) closed due to the global health crisis, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis coordinated the Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan for Florida’s Recovery. effort. This plan introduced phases of reopening for the state. Florida Sunset Much of the state entered phase 2 in March, which allowed the reopening of select bars and movie theaters, along with several other venue types. However, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties were ordered to remain in phase one. Palm Beach County moved into phase 2 recently. Gov. DeSantis also just announced that Miami-Dade and Broward Counties would also now move into the next phase, putting the entire state in phase 2. Florida Scenery Phase 2 allows indoor restaurants, theaters, and gyms to operate at 50% capacity. Shops can be at full capacity (such as those at Disney Springs), as long as social distancing precautions are in place. However, phase 2 prohibits any social gatherings with more than 50 people. Disney Springs Previously in Florida, there was a statewide ban on bars, preventing locations that received 50% or more of their gross revenue from alcohol sales, from opening. However, Florida just issued a new emergency order that will allow bars to reopen at 50% capacity as of Monday, September 14th. Blood Orange Margarita at Dockside Margaritas at Disney Springs Although bars can reopen with 50% capacity, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, has said that he won’t allow bars to reopen there for the time being. Have been keeping track of all the new Disney movies currently in the works? AMC Movie Theatre in Disney Springs We saw the live-action remake of Mulan move to Disney+ and heard that the release date for the new Pixar film, Soul, was delayed. These two films have been all over the media, but what about the other movies Disney announced? Are they still pushing forward with production? We’re here to remind you of 5 major Disney movies works that you may have forgotten about! Jungle Cruise Remember when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wrestled with WWF then later became a Disney star? We’re totally not mad about the transition! We’ve been anticipating the debut of the Jungle Cruise film based on the popular Disney theme park attraction. Johnson will play our friendly Skipper and yes, there will be plenty of punny jokes. ©Disney The movie has seen two delays. It was originally set to release October 11, 2019. It was then pushed back to July 24, 2020. After this, it was delayed a year to accommodate the delayed release of Mulan. The current release date for Jungle Cruise is now July 30th, 2021. It was reported that Margot Robbie and Christina Hodson (Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey) are working on a film that is a spinoff of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The film will center on other characters within the Pirate’s world, pulling focus away from Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, and Will Turner. The second script in the works is a reboot by Ted Elliott and Chernobyl creator, Craig Mazin. ©Disney There have been no reports on a release date or whether any of the original actors will be involved! This film will focus on the origin story of Cruella de Vil, one of the most vicious Disney villains of our time. Cruella will be played by Emma Stone and the story will show her transformation into a puppy fur-loving maniac. Cruella will release on May 28th, 2021. ©Disney Haunted Mansion No, not the one starring Eddie Murphy. There will soon be another adaptation of the popular Disney theme park attraction, The Haunted Mansion. Kate Dippold, who wrote the Ghostbusters reboot and The Heat, will write the new live-action movie. The Haunted Mansion in Disney World No details or release dates have been noted for the new film quite yet! Take a look a the announcement for the new Haunted Mansion film here! Live-Action Hercules Hercules is getting a live-action remake too! The film is produced by Anthony and Joseph Russo, who directed major Marvel hits like the Avengers and Captain America series. The film is set to be written by Shang-Chi writer Dave Callaham. ©Disney Hercules It hasn’t been confirmed whether the Russo Brothers will direct and no further details have been released about the film. Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of the most unique dining spots in Walt Disney World because it lets you (literally) dine like a princess IN A CASTLE. Cinderella’s Royal Table Foyer It’s not just about food, though: it’s an experience that every Disney fan should enjoy at least once in their life. However, Cinderella’s Royal Palace remained closed, even after Disney World reopened. But we just learned that it will be reopening on September 24th and reservations opened TODAY!! But that reopening will bring some changes. First, princesses won’t be meeting and greeting guests during their meal for the time being (sort of like how Chef Mickey’s won’t have any characters for its meals). Meet and Greet at Cinderella’s Royal Table The other change is that the cost of the meal is now cheaper (likely due to the lack of characters). The adult price was $75 plus tax and gratuity, but now it’s $62 plus tax and gratuity. The children’s price was $45, but now is $37 (plus tax and gratuity). Vaulted Ceilings and Regal Flags in the Dining Room We did note that this includes some menu changes. Breakfast is no longer available, and lunch and dinner have pared-back menus (something we’ve seen a lot of recently). For appetizers, the Seared Scallop is no longer available and has been replaced with a salad. Salad at Cinderella’s Royal Table The Entrees are also missing two menu items: the Seared Pork Rib Chop and the Protein Bowl. However, the desserts are all the same, including The Clock Strikes Twelve (read our review here). The Clock Strikes Twelve Dessert at Cinderella’s Royal Table! We also spotted some differences in the children’s menu. The Roasted Chicken Leg and Cauliflower Fried Rice are no longer available. View from Cinderella’s Royal Table Do note, that these changes are likely temporary, and the character portion of this mean and prices should return to normal at some point. Guests will still have to decide whether its worth it to dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table without the princesses and limited menu items, but ultimately, it’s still a chance to dine inside Cinderella’s Castle. Poison Candied Apple at Hollywood Studios We, of course, scared up some fun at the park earlier this week when all of the fall and Halloween goodies made their seasonal debut! (Did you see the pretty Poison Candied Apple right there?) But we’re back with a lil’ update for you from our most recent trip for a short — but sweet! — look at What’s New in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! And the emphasis is on the sweet for our first stop… Hollywood Studios Food Updates Jack Skellington Frappuccino at The Trolley Car Cafe Ok, so technically the Jack Skellington Frappuccino isn’t really new, since this themed drink is actually a secret (off-the-menu) item. We Tried The Starbucks Secret Menu Jack Skellington Frappuccino at Disney World But it was our first time trying it at The Trolley Car Café (the park’s Starbucks location), so we thought we’d share it here! Jack Skellington Frappuccino This super sweet sip is positively packed with ingredients including — but not limited to – espresso and Chai added to Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino… and more! In fact, Advance Dining Reservations just opened this morning for this experience. We recently discovered that the Lovepop kiosk at Disney Springs was getting quite the upgrade! Lovepop Kiosk at Disney Springs Lovepop is moving from its kiosk in The Landing area of Disney Springs to an actual storefront in the Town Center, between Ron Jon Surf Shop and Superdry. And it’s set to open this year! We originally learned about this move when we spotted a permit for a “retail store buildout” for the shop at Disney Springs. Later, we started to see signs of construction at its new location. Lovepop We recently spotted a barrier around the store’s front door, suggesting that construction is moving right along. And today, we noticed that the shop’s SIGNS ARE UP! That’s progress, my people! Lovepop Storefront at Disney Springs The signage on the barrier still says, “coming soon,” and we still don’t have an official opening date. However, we’re looking forward to seeing even more of the amazing greeting cards the company is known for! Welcome, foolish mortals. It’s no secret that we LOVE the spooky vibe of the Haunted Mansion, and we love the even spookier vibe of all the Haunted Mansion merch we’ve recently seen in the parks. Haunted Mansion Halloween Display So how better to celebrate Halloween with so much amazing stuff! And we keep finding more! Although we’re still going CRAZY over the Madame Leota Sipper, we just spotted something else that’s beautifully grim: Hitchhiking Ghosts Haunted Mansion Bottle Stoppers! These have been a highly sought after item that keeps selling out around the parks and in Springs. But guess what!!! We found a few of these little babies in Disney Springs today! But you’ll need to hurry if you’re looking to pick them up because the stock was semi-low. We first found these at Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs. If you’ve been checking in on our Instagram stories lately, you may notice that we’ve thrown in a few trivia questions to test your Disney World knowledge! Hi, Mickey! Some of these questions may be easier than others, and we’ll admit we’ve thrown one or two trick questions in there to see who knows their Disney facts. A recent question REALLY stumped our readers, as a whopping 88% of you got the answer WRONG! We asked our readers which of the four Disney World theme parks is the smallest. The options were, of course, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Entering Walt Disney World Resort And the correct answer…is Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom We know, it doesn’t make sense, but it’s true! Magic Kingdom is indeed the SMALLEST of the four Disney World theme parks. And only 12% of readers who responded guessed correctly! Only 12% of our readers who responded answered CORRECTLY! Disney has confirmed that at 107 acres, Magic Kingdom is in fact smaller than the other parks. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the second smallest park at 135 acres. Magic Kingdom If we’re including backstage areas, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is BY FAR the largest of the four parks, reaching a whopping 580 acres according to Orange County Register. A good chunk of land is dedicated to the animals. The Wildlife Reserve that guests see on Kilimanjaro Safari is 110 acres just by itself! Kilamanjaro Safari This is not to say that there’s less things to do in Magic Kingdom! There is certainly NO shortage of rides and attractions, dining, shopping, and gazing at all the spectacular sights! It’s pretty impressive how much Disney World is able to cram into their smallest theme park! Magic Kingdom Entrance This “tiny” park is about to go under a series of seasonal transformations, with fall decor arriving next week and the holiday season officially kicking off on November 6! Not to mention all of the changes we’ve already seen since this park first reopened for Cast Members on July 7, including new character cavalcades, a stunning transformation of Cinderella Castle, and of course, the return of our beloved Corn Dog Nuggets. For some, it can be extremely difficult to get up from that hotel bed after a long night in the parks — even if a Mickey waffle is awaiting you for breakfast. Disney’s Pop Century Resort Well, guests at Disney’s Pop Century Resort were all treated to a very early and startling morning wake-up call today! Thank you to some of our wonderful followers on Instagram who contacted us this morning to let us know that the fire alarm went off this morning at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Thanks to our follower Johnny Milone (_jman_444) for letting us know that the fire alarm and resulting evacuation occurred at 5AM this morning in Building 6 which is in the ’70s themed section of the resort. It apparently occurred again at 7:40AM. Pop Century As far as we know at the moment, everything is fine at Pop Century and no one was hurt. One follower told us: “I believe the first they said someone pulled it [meaning the fire alarm] (for no reason) and the second I overheard they said because of the condensation made it trip again… but I don’t know! They moved us to a new building with some Disney Magic, so that was nice!” Disney’s Pop Century Resort A similar situation actually occurred last week as well at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort when a guest pulled the fire alarm. Bay Lake Tower If you’re at a Disney hotel when a fire alarm goes off, here’s what you need to know: If the fire alarm goes off, you must leave the building. Just like you were taught in school, you’ll need to exit the building where the fire alarm is going off in a calm and orderly fashion. You’ll also need to remain outside until you are specifically told that you can go back inside. The global health crisis has brought about many challenges for bars and restaurants in Florida. Dockside Margaritas at Disney Springs Although Walt Disney World began reopening this summer, many of its bars had to shut down due to a statewide ban of on-premises alcohol consumption at bars. This applied to any locations that received more than 50% of gross revenue through alcohol sales. That may change soon, though. The state of Florida has issued a new emergency order that allows bars to reopen at 50% capacity, starting on Monday. Disney Springs Pop-Up Bar This means that bars previously shut down at Disney World, like Dockside Margaritas, will get to reopen their doors. Blood Orange Margarita at Dockside Margaritas The previous order didn’t cover bars that also served food, although there was some confusion initially, which shut down Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (but it later re-opened). And Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was also allowed to continue to do business. Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios The new order will allow bars to seat half their capacity indoors, as well as outdoors, with appropriate social distancing measures in place.
