  8. Our destination today was Ålesund, a charming seaport situated at the entrance of Geirangerfjord, stretching across multiple islands. The backdrop of mountains and smooth waterways are a picturesque complement to the town’s Art Nouveau architecture. The Sunnmøre Museum is one of the must-visit spots in Ålesund, and many Disney cruisers did just that today. Several of our Port Adventures visit this open-air folk museum, but only one incredibly special group was greeted by friends from the neighboring Kingdom of Arendelle. Anna, Elsa and Kristoff did not want to miss this unique countryside village on their first visit to Norway! They eagerly joined Disney cruisers in the festivities, complete with live music, old-fashioned games and Norwegian sweets. Another popular Port Adventure gave our guests a look at life in the Middle Ages with the families of Vikings. From the port, they drove through one of the world’s longest undersea tunnels to the Saga island of Giske where they were greeted by a Viking chieftain. Their time in the medieval village was spent learning about traditions, playing games and tasting Viking meals, a fun way for families to connect while being immersed in Scandinavian history. Check back tomorrow to see if Disney cruisers agree this destination lives up to the hype. 13. The story of “Frozen” has swept the hearts of people around the world, and we have been busy bringing it to life in our parks — from royal greetings with Anna and Elsa to sing-alongs to special screenings of the animated short “Frozen Fever.” We first told you about our plans for a “Frozen” attraction in Epcot last fall and today, we’re thrilled to share a first look at what’s coming when it opens in 2016. “Frozen Ever After,” is an adventure fit for the entire family that will take guests through the kingdom of Arendelle. The fantastic Disney storytelling combined with new technology and favorite moments and music from the film will make guests feel like they stepped into the magical world of “Frozen.” Guests will be transported to the Winter in Summer Celebration where Queen Elsa embraces her magical powers and creates a winter-in-summer day for the entire kingdom. They will also visit Elsa’s Ice Palace and the ice-blue world of the North Mountain along with other locations before returning to the Bay of Arendelle. Of course, favorite “Frozen” characters, including the Snowgies from the animated short “Frozen Fever,” will be part of this new attraction, along with the spectacular sights inspired by the film. The Norway Pavilion’s exterior will be expanded with many unique Norwegian architectural features and the interior design of the “Royal Sommerhus” will reflect the cultural arts and crafts of Norway, providing a charming setting for guests to meet Elsa and Anna. We’ll have more updates to share in the future, so keep checking for details right here on the Disney Parks Blog. 15. So. much. cute. Have you seen the latest Jerrod Maruyama mugs on any of your own Disney trips this year? I most recently noticed these in Epcot’s Mouse Gears, but you can also find them in Magic Kingdom’s Emporium — or just about anywhere on Disney property that sells mugs, basically. Jerrod Maruyama Mugs Jerrod Maruyama is the artist behind the Hipster Mickey line, among others, and he’s super fun to follow on Instagram. But what I really like about these mugs in particular is the way his designs pick up on some truly iconic Disney moments and images. For instance, the Pinocchio Mug features so many memorable moments from the film. I can’t help but think of the artwork in Pinocchio Village Haus when I look at it. Pinocchio Mug Pinocchio Mug Like the others, the amount of detail packed into the Bambi Mug is pretty incredible. Plus, it’s somewhat hard to find Bambi merchandise in the parks, so points for that, too! Bambi Mug Bambi Mug I know it’s inspired completely by the film, but the colors of the Dumbo Mug remind me of life under the circus tent at Big Top Treats. Dumbo Mug Dumbo Mug I’ve saved my favorite for last: the Disneyland Mug. It shows Disney characters enjoying classic attractions, like Goofy on the Matterhorn. Disneyland Mug But there’s something about Donald Duck in a Doom Buggy with Ezra the Hitchhiking Ghost that really puts this one over the top. Disneyland Mug By the way, you can find this mug in Disney World, too. (To clarify: Disney World doesn’t have its own mug at this point, but you can find the Disneyland one in some stores there.) And just an FYI: each mug goes for $14.95. So which one would YOU choose ? Will you be coming home from your next Disney vacation with a Jerrod Maruyama mug? Please let us know with a comment!
