Disney Channel actress Sofia Carson stopped by Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort to pose with Mickey Mouse and answer a few questions that might be of interest to tweens and their parents. Sofia stars in the 100th Disney Channel Original Movie, “Adventures in Babysitting,” debuting June 24, 2016.
Q: Given your role in the new upcoming film, “Adventures in Babysitting,” if you were asked to babysit a Disney character, which one would you most want to babysit?
A: I would love to babysit Tinker Bell. I’ve always loved Tinker Bell and would like to get to know her better.Q: Disney has the new “Dream Big, Princess” campaign going on this year to inspire girls and kids around the world to realize their full potential and dream big. Which princess do you feel like you are most like?
A: Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved Princess Belle. I’ve loved the music in “Beauty and the Beast” and related to Belle’s story. Belle was kind of a nerd with her nose in a book. I’ve always been like that. I love to read and always have MY nose in a book. Belle was also the first princess to have brown hair and brown eyes and I thought I looked just like her! I dressed up like Belle every single Halloween!Q: What is your favorite theme park snack at Walt Disney World Resort?
A: Popcorn and the Mickey Mouse ice cream bars!Q: Where is your favorite location at Walt Disney World Resort to be photographed?
A: Right in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, of course!Q: Which attraction at Walt Disney World Resort would appeal most to your character, Evie, in the Disney Channel movie “Descendants”?
A: Evie’s favorite attraction would probably be the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom because she gets to see the Evil Queen at the end of the ride when she’s really, really old and very ugly. She’s never seen her mother that way! She also gets to see Snow White in all her beauty. The sparkling jewels in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction would totally appeal to her fashion sense.Q: If you could live at any of the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, which park would it be?
A: I would probably live in Magic Kingdom and try to sleep in the castle!Tune in to Disney Channel on June 24th to see Sofia star in the new movie Adventures in Babysitting. And for more information on planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort with your tween, check out www.disneyworld.com/Tweens.

When designing Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Imagineers worked closely with the community to learn about Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage. As a result, the resort is filled with authentic Hawaiian stories, artwork and tradition.
Complimentary to guests, “Maka‘ika‘i, The Art and Culture of Aulani” is a guided walking tour that showcases the artistic and cultural influences found at the resort — from the interior design and architectural details to the contemporary Hawaiian art pieces.
While there are so many stories to discover, I asked Aulani Cultural Advisor, Kahulu De Santos, to share the story behind one of her favorite cultural pieces you may encounter along the tour: the kahili, or royal feather standards, which are traditional symbols of ali‘i (chiefs).
Located in the Maka‘ala lobby, the kahili are symbols of the power and status of Hawaii’s royalty. Kahili represent the presence of kupuna (ancestors) and endure today as hallmarks of artistry, technical skill and pride. Like any craft requiring feather work, the making of a kahili is time-intensive. The elegant kahili that grace the Maka‘ala Lobby are an example of our partnership with our community. Disney commissioned the Kapolei Hawaiian Civic Club to work with Aulani cast members to create the two large, standing kahili as well as a collection of kahili pa‘alima (hand-held or waving kahili). Formerly displayed at gatherings of special significance, kahili would be carried by favored attendants, called pa‘a kahili, to mark the presence of ali‘i so that those present would be reminded of their elders and speak with them in mind.
Be sure to check the Daily ‘Iwa for tour times.

It’s here — we are officially 186 days out from Christmas!! Woohoo! Have you started your shopping yet?
Ha — me neither. But I do know that if I have any hope of scoring advance dining reservations for the uber busy holiday season at Walt Disney World, I need to be ready to book as soon as those phone lines open up next week.
But how do I fit everything in that I want to do? By planning ahead, of course. And we want to help you do the same.
And that’s why we write the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays. Because I want your holiday visit to the ‘World to be nothing less than spectacular.
And when you pre-order the 2016 DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays right now, you’ll receive the 2015 edition immediately, for free.
Don’t forget — you have three ways to save on the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays Guide. Check our our 180 Days ‘Til Christmas Sale to learn more!
Don’t wait, though — our 180 Days sale ends soon!
Now that we’re thinking about the holidays, let’s explore one of my favorite Tips from the Holiday Guide — How to budget your TIME during the busy Holiday Season at Walt Disney World!
Plan, Plan, Plan
It may seem kinda like a no brainer. But if ever there is a time to plan you play and play your plan, it’s the holidays at WDW.
Leave no stone unturned. But how can you find out just what’s happening? In the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays, we offer a list of events and activities so that you can get a good idea of what to expect before you hit the ground running. The list is invaluable as you plan each daily adventure.
And don’t forget to book those advance dining reservations early! They fill up fast — especially fan favorites, like Be Our Guest Restaurant, Chef Mickey’s, and California Grill.
Go Early, Stay Late
Set that alarm, and be prepared to throw that bedtime out the window. In order to make the most of your time at Walt Disney World, be prepared to go early, stay up late — or both.
There can be a real advantage to booking your early advance dining reservation for a park breakfast. Not only will you enjoy some of the best experiences, like character interaction with Winnie the Pooh and Friends at Crystal Palace. But also keep in mind that early breakfast means earlier access to the Parks. It’s a great time to get early morning pictures. And you just may beat the crowds to some of the big attractions at the back of the park (I’m talking about you, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train).
Staying late is another great strategy. In fact, spending early morning and late night in the parks, with a break in the middle of the day for resort activities just might be the way to go. But there’s another factor to consider…
Know About Park Closures
If you haven’t visited Disney at high capacity times of the year, then you may not be aware that sometimes, Disney Parks must close because they have reached capacity. However, to ease the inconvenience of the move, Disney takes a phased approach to park closures.
For instance, in Phase 1, ticket sales at the park near capacity stop temporarily. In Phase 2, Guests staying at a WDW resort hotel, with an Annual Pass, park-hopping from another park, holding a reservation, or arriving via Disney transportation are allowed in the parking lot and turnstiles. Phases continue to limit guest entrance until capacity is reached.
The good news is that the parks rarely stay closed for more than a few hours. But knowing about when and how parks typically arrive at capacity is good to know during the busy season. We spell it all out for you in the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays.

Yearning to visit Shanghai Disneyland? You can now get a taste of the world’s newest Disney Park at Epcot, where the “Inside Shanghai Disney Resort” gallery which has just opened its doors in the House of the Whispering Willows Gallery at the China Pavilion.
The gallery showcases exclusive artwork, as well as a look at the classic and cutting-edge attractions within Shanghai Disneyland’s six lands of fantasy and thrilling adventure.
In addition, the exhibit illustrates how elements of Chinese culture were woven into the fabric of the resort. Walt Disney Imagineers traveled across China seeking inspiration for Shanghai Disneyland, its two hotels, and the Disneytown shopping district. The result, as guests will discover, is an authentically Disney experience that remains distinctly Chinese.

The biggest news around Epcot’s World Showcase is the debut of TWO new Frozen-themed attractions in the Norway Pavilion.
On June 21st, Frozen Ever After (the Pavilion’s brand new dark ride) and the Royal Sommerhus Anna and Elsa Meet and Greet location made their official debut!
So, what are we doing at La Cantina de San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion instead? Well, Mexico is the next door neighbor to the Norway Pavilion in World Showcase. And to say that crowd levels have increased in the area might just be the understatement of the century. With so many guests arriving in the early morning hours thanks to the updated 9:00 am opening of the Norway Pavilion, expanded food options are also a new necessity in the vicinity.
Norway’s Counter Service option, Kringla Bakeri og Kafe, is also now open at 9:00 am. (School Bread for breakfast?! YES, please!!) And there are a few new additions there that we will check out in an upcoming post.
But since the offerings at La Cantina are all new, we made our pit stop here before taking on THIS wait time (yes, and then some!) for Disney World’s newest attraction.
Back to that later… we’ve got some eating to do first!
Here’s the new breakfast menu for La Cantina. Three main entrees make up the list: Chilaquiles con huevos, Tamal verde con huevos, and Pambazo de chorizo con huevo.
Huevos revueltos — scrambled eggs topped with cheese with potatoes and fruit on the side — is the option for all the little Annas, Elsas, and Kristoffs in the general area.
Just like lunch and dinner, La Cantina does accept a Counter Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan for breakfast. Following a trend we’ve noticed at some of the new kiosks in Disney Springs such as The Daily Poutine, because there are no side or dessert items on the menu, plan participants receive two non-alcoholic beverages instead. There is no juice available — at least at the time of this posting, this may change soon — but drinks from the regular menu like coffee, soda, and Jarritos are up for grabs.
The Chilaquiles con huevos consists of two fried eggs and layers of fried corn tortilla accompanied by green tomatillo sauce, a sprinkling of queso fresco cheese, onions, and sour cream. The presentation, first of all, is pretty cool. I love the way the eggs are fried into the red onion rounds.
It’s those onions and the salsa verde that lend the more unique flavors (without any heat, for those concerned) to this dish. I’m not huge into fried eggs in general so this wasn’t my favorite dish, but the salsa was still a nice compliment.
Tamal verde con huevos features scrambled eggs and corn dough filled with pork chorizo. Green tomatillo sauce tops the tamale here as well.
The eggs themselves — as you can see — were fairly basic. Overall, though, the chorizo gave this dish a pleasant hint of spiciness that I really enjoyed.
Possibly the most unique item on the menu is the Pambazo de chorizo con huevo. Scrambled eggs, chorizo, jack cheese, red onions, lettuce, and guacamole are all packed into a bread roll, which is poured over with a thin salsa that reminded me a lot of the chipotle sauce you can find in the condiments area, but not as spicy.
Gotta say, it’s not really what I was expecting for breakfast. But once I got used to the idea, I loved the mix of flavors and textures here! Like the tamale, the Pambazo carries a bit of spice with it, but nothing too intense. Avocado and eggs make a great combo, so if you like guacamole and breakfast with a twist, this could be right up your alley. It actually ended up being my favorite of the bunch, even though it’s the LEAST grab-and-go-friendly item, due to the sauce on top.
I mention that, because once you see the lines for Frozen Ever After, you may decide to join it sooner rather than later, depending on your park touring strategy.
Now, this was the scene on the first day, and first day lines are always huge. The wait was complete with the ride going down for a chunk of time. Those of us braving the line even received a few free treats for our efforts… which, I’m not gonna lie, TOTALLY HELPED! First Round, a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar…
Second Round (a couple hours later): A Mickey Premium Ice Cream Sandwich!
But let’s face it… with rave reviews (yes, we loved it!) and a HUGE fan base for the film, it looks like Frozen Ever After is gonna be the big ticket for a long time to come. Grab those FastPasses if you can… or some breakfast or snacks before waiting out the line! Of course, if you just can’t wait, you can find a video of our very first ride — proof that we made it! — on the Disney Food Blog Facebook Page (the date was June 21, to help you scroll through and find it!).
Well, thanks for following us on our latest adventures, both food-related an not-so-much
! Well, unless you count the fact that you CAN spot an ad for the “Best Lutefisk in Arendelle” in the Frozen Ever After queue, courtesy of The Frosty Fisherman…
Until next time, Adiós from Mexico AND Har Det from Norway!
Contributing to this post: Tina (who was the one to wait in line for over 300 minutes), Wendy, and AJ

Atmosphere
One of my favorite things about Special Events that take place in Epcot’s World Showcase Pavilions, versus events in World ShowPlace, is that you often get a chance to see inside a restaurant that you may not have experienced before. Both French Family Meal Traditions and The Parisian Afternoon: Sandwiches, Macarons, and Bubbles! take place at Monsieur Paul.
If you haven’t had the chance to dine at Monsieur Paul, you may not be familiar with it. It’s the fine dining option in Epcot’s France Pavilion. You’ll find it by heading back through France as though you’re getting a Macaron Ice Cream Sammie at L’Artisan des Glaces.
But hang a left before you get to the boutique ice cream shop. Go through the door with the awning, past the hostess stand, and you’ll spy this beautiful art nouveau staircase leading up to the second floor restaurant.
You’ll walk past the restaurant’s small but well-stocked wine cellar en route to the dining room.
For this event, the part of the dining room closest to the entrance was emptied of tables. Cast Members greeted us as we entered and took us to our seats. I liked this touch; while seating isn’t assigned, staff helped us to find a place, rather than just turning us loose to find our own seats.
After I was shown to my seat, I had a few minutes before lunch began, so I decided to look around a bit. Monsieur Paul pays homage to Chef Paul Bocuse. Fitting, since he’s one of the original trio of chefs referenced in the France Pavilion. It’s also appropriate because the Bocuse Group runs all of the restaurants in the pavilion.
Monsieur Paul exudes understated elegance. You won’t find any over the top themeing here, and the decor was lightened up a little during a recent refurbishment. (You can see photos of the previous decor here.) But you’ll still find white table cloths and cloth napkins, signaling an experience that’s just a cut or so above Les Chefs de France, the bistro downstairs.
Mercury glass pieces echo the general art nouveau feeling of the place.
And extremely fancy Cognac reminds you that you are some place special.
I love the light fixtures at Monsieur Paul as well. The bubble motif makes them feel elegant without seeming the least bit stuffy.
I’m always charmed by this small alcove outside of the restrooms. I can’t imagine ever needing to sit down here. But somehow, it’s comforting to know it’s there in case I have need of it. And look — more cool lights!
Seriously. If I could figure out how to lift this and stick it in my purse, I’d probably be pretty tempted to do it.
Another great thing about going to an event like this — you get to see Monsieur Paul in a whole new light — literally. Many folks haven’t had lunch here, so it’s fun to see it all lit up with bright daylight.
Windows that allow for partial views of Illuminations at night let in plenty of light during the day.
For the luncheon, place settings were simple and looked a lot like what you find when you’re dining at Monsieur Paul. While our water was already poured, our wine glasses were still empty as we chatted with our table mates.
I’m anxious to share this experience with you. So let’s get to the food.
Eats
General Manager Eric Weistroffer was on hand to kick off the festivities. As he explained, we were there to experience family favorites — home cooked foods, and flavors that Monsieur Paul’s chefs learned in the most important kitchen of all — their homes.
The menu changed each week for the event. We were excited to see what we’d have the chance to sample.
Five courses, with wines paired to each course, certainly seemed promising.
As soon as we were seated, staff began to pass out the Welcoming Cocktail — a Cocktail La Presse. The drink was a take on a classic Citron Presse, which is similar to lemonade, but way less sweet. The cocktail was plenty sweet enough, though, with Grand Marnier Titanium added to the Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Raspberries, and Sparking Wine.
Our table also received a plate of Cheese Straws to begin with. While they were delicious, I probably wouldn’t have forsaken any stomach space for them, had I known the portions of the courses that would be coming.
We also received fresh Demi Baguettes, baked right in the ovens of Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie. These are terribly hard to resist.
Before our first course arrived, the servers began pouring wines. The first was Marquis de Coulaine Vouvray. I know that French wines typically are meant to be consumed with food, but this light, crisp white was a table favorite even before the food arrived.
The first course was a Quiche Lorraine with a perfectly dressed Salad of Greens served alongside.
The Quiche itself was incredible — pillowy and rich, full of Cheese and bits of Ham. It was also enormous. I seriously could have called it a day right there, so reluctantly, I did not clean my plate.
Soon, we were ready for our next course, and that meant another glass of wine. For the main dish, the pairing was Le Haut Presle Chinon.
As much as the table loved the first wine, this one met initially with some resistance, probably due to the minerality. It may have benefitted from breathing a bit before it was served; I’m not really sure. But I was confident that it would improve greatly when paired with food.
And it wasn’t long before we had the chance to put our theory to the test, as this little beauty arrived at my place setting. The petite Le Creuset put the “cocotte” in our dish’s name.
When the lid was removed, I was treated to a creamy Blanquette de Veau en Cocotte.
Our server also provided a little dish of Rice on the side, and we were instructed to dump it into the stew.
This was truly one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The decadent sauce was perfectly seasoned. The Veal was tender, and the vegetables complemented the dish in terms of texture and flavor. Even the rice enhanced the dish. I can’t think of a starch that would have been better served here.
I think at this point, everyone at my table was so impressed with the food and wine, both in terms of portions and quality.
But there was another course to be savored! And that meant more wine. Our second red was the Chateau de Ricaud Bordeaux Superieur. The fruit forward, medium-bodied wine met with universal approval from wine-loving table.
The Bordeaux was a lovely match for the Brie served with Fruit and Nut Bread, Grapes, and Walnuts.
At this point, I took the opportunity to stretch! Seriously. In my opinion, the slow pace of the meal is one of the most wonderful aspects of eating at Monsieur Paul anytime, and the French Family Meal Traditions event is no exception. You’re expected to relax.
Speaking of relaxing, we had one more wine to consume. For our dessert course, we enjoyed a lovely Jean-Charles Boisset No. 21 Cremant. Fans of sparkling wine will know that a Cremant is a sparkling wine made in a hand full of winemaking regions outside of the Champagne region. This particular wine came from Burgundy.
I’m a big fan of Cremants because they tend to offer great value when compared with Champagne, so I was excited to try this. The hints of vanilla were the perfect match for our next course.
Dessert was a Black and White Macaron, served in a pool of Creme Anglaise with a Quenelle of House made Ice Cream on the side.
The plate was stunning, and the macaron, with its chewy consistency and fudgy filling, was as delicious as any of the macarons I’ve enjoyed in the France Pavilion. (And believe me. There have been many.)
As our meal wound down, Eric took the opportunity to festively honor the men and women who prepared and served the meal.
After we applauded them, they paraded through the dining room, so we had the chance to say a quick thank you for a fantastic experience.
Overall
There are no two ways about it: French Family Traditions is one of the best events that we’ve had the pleasure of attending during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.
There are a few reasons for this. First, while the price tag is steep (it was $95 per person last year), it was well worth it, in my opinion. Each course was exquisite, with dishes that were impeccably prepared and plated. Servings were more than generous; I’m not exaggerating when I say that I was full after the first course. Finally, the wines served were full glasses. And I should probably add…we received refills as well.
If you’re on the fence about whether or not to splurge on an event like this, I say go for it. Because if you can find a better way to spend the afternoon than drinking wine and eating French food in a beautiful setting, then I really need you to tell me about it.

In late April, it was announced that Paddlefish is coming to Disney Springs. Formerly Fulton’s Crab House, this spot will keep its focus on fresh seafood in a Signature dining venue… albeit in an updated, modernized setting.
Though we have to wait until this Fall for Paddlefish to open (with a late November estimate), the culinary team is already hard at work creating dishes for the restaurant; and over the past few weeks they’ve been sharing “Sneak Peeks” via their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.
Sneak Peek Number One was for this gorgeous Lobster Boil (reminiscent of the one guests loved at Fulton’s).
Sneak Peek Number Two gives us a glimpse at the house Mac and Cheese!
Sneak Peek Number Three needs no explanation
. Check out what look like brownie skewers sticking out of those sundaes!
For Sneak Peek Number Four, though, Paddlefish invited followers to guess what the team was creating in the test kitchen that day…
Wanna play along and see what else is on the way to Paddlefish? Just follow PaddlefishORL at any of their social media accounts linked above!
Are you looking forward to the arrival of Paddlefish? Please let us know with a comment!

We welcome back guest writer AM Appleby! Today, she’ll take us inside of Narcoossee’s for their once a week morning offering — Sunday Brunch!
We’ve enjoyed dinner at Narcoossee’s, located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, many times, and always love booking a reservation coincident with the Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.
But recently, this dinner-only spot has begun to offer a leisurely and luxurious Sunday Brunch. We couldn’t wait to take a peek!
Narcoossee’s Waterfront Brunch
On a glorious and sunny Sunday morning, my daughter and I went to Narcoossee’s Waterfront Brunch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
I’ve enjoyed dinner twice at this location and was excited to try brunch. We arrived at the Grand Floridian twenty minutes before our reservation time and walked through the magnificent lobby and out the back doors to the restaurant.
Narcoossee’s has a beautiful spot on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon. Tables in Wonderland is accepted, which also provides free valet parking when dining at a resort; and two table service credits are required if using the Disney Dining Plan. Brunch is offered Sundays from 10am-2pm.
We checked in and were seated within a few minutes. Our window table had a beautiful view of the boat dock, Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, and the Contemporary Resort. Nelson, our wonderful server, explained the menu thoroughly before taking our drink order and delivering a basket of pastries.
For those with food allergies, the allergy-friendly menu is extensive. For example, those with gluten allergies or sensitivities can enjoy four of the five appetizers and five of the seven entrées. Dessert options, not listed on the menu, consist of coconut ice cream, raspberry sorbet, fresh fruit, and prepackaged cookies or brownies.
Included in the price ($69 adults, $41 children 3-9) is a specialty beverage. Adults can enjoy bottomless Prosecco and Mimosas, or a Signature Bloody Mary (a meal in itself, it is served with a King Crab claw, a jumbo shrimp, applewood smoked bacon, and a blue cheese stuffed olive in a salt-rimmed glass). Kids or teetotalers can choose a strawberry, raspberry, or mango smoothie.
Other beverages are available and there is a full bar. You’ll choose an appetizer, entrée, and a dessert plate is served at the end of the meal.
The pastry basket was comprised of cheese and cherry Danishes, croissants, twisted cinnamon sticks, and blueberry muffins. Strawberry jam and butter with crystallized hibiscus were served on the side. I really enjoyed the strawberry jam, a not-too-sweet accompaniment to the light pastries.
The pastry basket is filled according to the number of guests at the table. Ask for more of the ones you love. (I mentioned towards the end of brunch how much my daughter loved the blueberry muffins and Nelson returned with a box of extras for her.)
Although there is a children’s menu, they are welcome to order from the adult menu.
My seven-year-old has a rather mature palate and chose the Onion Soup Gratinée for her appetizer and Steak and Eggs for her entrée, while I chose the Romaine Salad and Pan-Roasted Alaskan Line Caught Halibut. I really liked the French press coffee, both in flavor and for the fact that I could warm my cup when needed.
The Bloody Mary also did not disappoint! The crab claw was so sweet and tender and the drink was perfectly spiced. I munched on the garnishes throughout my meal.
Monorails passed in the distance, ferry boats loaded and unloaded passengers, and Sea Raycers splashed by as I drank in the view along with my coffee. My daughter, who was far from the only child present, sipped her raspberry smoothie and colored.
The restaurant was quiet, even though all but two tables had guests. I realized the soft, instrumental music playing in the background was The Police, a lovely bonus for me!
Our appetizers arrived about fifteen minutes after the pastry basket. My Romaine Salad with shaved Pecorino Romano was very fresh and crisp, and the marinated half-dried tomatoes were a welcome accompaniment to this classic salad. I ordered the Caesar dressing on the side and, true to the description, it was creamy and delicious.
The Onion Soup Gratinée was perhaps the best I’ve had. My daughter ate nearly every bit, savoring the delectable broth and saving the nutty and flavorful Gruyère de Comté, generously melted on the ciabatta croutons, for last.
A side note: if you love anything you try, and I’m certain you will, you are welcome to request more at no charge.
They also offer what they call ‘half portions’. If you are having trouble choosing between the Brioche French Toast and the Lobster Eggs Benedict, you can order a half portion of each. I absolutely love the flexibility that allows!
We had adequate time before our next course and never felt rushed.
A sweep of crumbs by Nelson and our entrées arrived. Gorgeously plated, the Halibut was a visual delight. The pan seared fish sat high atop a bed of potato-bacon hash and wilted greens. I almost forgot to take this photo before picking up my fork! The fish was crispy and buttery outside and tender and flaky inside, and the potato slices in the warm mustard vinaigrette melted in my mouth.
Seasoned simply with salt and pepper, the Black Angus Hangar Steak was tender and juicy. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the potatoes with truffle aioli were exquisite. The portions were very large, especially considering this was the third course. A word to the wise: as delectable as the pastries and appetizers are, save room!
The leisurely pace continued and we had a nice stretch between our plates being cleared and dessert being served. Although not on the menu, I ordered a Cappuccino at no extra charge to sip with my Trio of Desserts.
An assortment of teas and other espresso drinks are also available and included in the price.
Nelson suggested the Nemo cupcake and the chocolate brownie banana split, since my daughter couldn’t decide.
But her mouth dropped open when the Dessert Trio was placed on the table.
A solid white chocolate Minnie Mouse stood watch over the Triple Chocolate Cake, Lemon Blueberry Timbale, and Valencia Blood Orange Bar. Each were luscious and I loved the inclusion of different flavors. Although I typically prefer my sugar in the form of chocolate, the fruity cakes were my favorite. So luscious and light, they were perfect little bites of sweetness after such an extravagant feast.
By far, this was my most relaxing dining experience at Disney World. Nelson took excellent care of us, answered all of my many questions, and made my daughter feel very welcome.
His earlier wish for us to have a blissful experience was granted. Narcoossee’s Waterfront Brunch exceeded my every expectation. An exquisite treat, it was an excellent value for the quality of food and service that were delivered. I will absolutely return!
Will you be adding Narcoossee’s Waterfront Brunch to your Disney World dining plans? Leave a comment and let us know what you think!

Review: Carrot Cake at Disney World’s Boardwalk Bakery
in Disney Food/Restaurants
Posted
I love many things at Disney World. Many things. But two of my favorites are these:
Boardwalk Bakery
Disney World Restaurants
One: Carrot Cake. And two: the Boardwalk Bakery at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.
(OK, so there’s MUCH more to love than that. But you get my point). Anyway, when those two things come together, you have to know that I am SO. THERE.
And that was, indeed, the case on my most recent visit to the Boardwalk Bakery! Tucked inside the bakery case among Mickey Oreo Cupcakes, Cheesecake Brownies, and Key Lime Tarts was a little Carrot Cake number. They’ve had varieties of carrot cake here for years, and they’re ALWAYS good. This version is a long, skinny deal, but the taste is just as delicious as its square predecessors.
The first thing to catch my eye was the gorgeous white chocolate carrot topping the cake. It’s practically iridescent! So much better than those typical piped carrots on the top!
Carrot Cake
As for the cake itself, the recipe is pretty much classic: spiced cake layered with cream cheese frosting. No nuts in this version, though. (Oh, and that teeny pink garnish on the side is just a by-product of being near the Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake in the pastry box. No biggie.)
As you may already know, I am a HUGE fan of cream cheese frosting (or any frosting in general, really). So for me, it all comes down to the cake-to-frosting ratio. And check it out… this one delivers a perfect 50/50! Nice.
Carrot Cake
Moist, spiced cake equally matched by dense cream cheese frosting… they nailed it! And speaking of the frosting — this is the real deal. You know when you take a bite of a favorite dish and just, sort of…melt into it because the flavors are so right? Yep; Boardwalk Bakery cream cheese frosting is where it’s at. No plastic-y fake flavors here. It’s all butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar as far as I can tell.
Whether you are as Carrot-Cake-obsessed as I am or not, it’s always — ALWAYS — worth stopping by the Boardwalk Bakery to see what catches your fancy. It’s likely you’ll find a treat (or eight
) to fit your bill!
What’s your favorite sweet or snack at the Boardwalk Bakery? Please let us know with a comment!
