Bet you didn’t know we were besties with McDonald’s?! Drum roll, please… Okay, maybe besties is a BIT of stretch. But they slide into our texts from time to time (technically because we signed up to receive alerts, but who’s really paying attention to that?). Each time we get messages from the person who runs the McDonald’s account, we find ourselves scratching our heads because of their cryptic hints. So today we’re breaking down all the past surprises they’ve shared! Big Mac Sauce When this whole “texting McDonald’s” business started up, we signed up to receive messages because the company promised to share a secret announcement. What was that announcement? McDonald’s shared that they’d be introducing Big Mac Sauce as a dippable sauce option! Big Mac Meal The bizarre text updates were a fun way to promote the “saucy surprise” — but they didn’t stop there! Grimace Shenanigans The next time we got a text from McDonald’s was actually from their mischievous mascot Grimace! He took over their account to celebrate his birthday and the infamous Grimace Shake. Grimace’s Birthday Shake Loki Takeover If there was ever one text that had us ready to pack our bags and jet set, it was the Loki takeover of McDonald’s! ©McDonald’s In partnership to promote the upcoming season 2 of Loki on Disney+, the MARVEL God of Mischief was at it again, and this time he was turning back time. One McDonald’s in Brooklyn rethemed their entire restaurant just as it was in the 1980s during the events of the season that would be featured on the show and allowed us to momentarily time travel (or at least feel like we did for a bit). 80s Menu! ©McDonald’s However, this retheme was very short-lived, but if you were among the lucky ones that made the trek, we bet it was a sight to behold. McCrocs One of the wildest crossovers we could imagine FINALLY happened when McCrocs were cleverly teased. ©Crocs These McDonald’s inspired Crocs debuted with quite the chatter about their nostalgic designs from Birdie, to Hamburglar, to Grimace, and even Ronald McDonald himself. We weren’t quite sure how we felt about them at first either! ©Crocs But, it seems McCrocs may have either been a stroke of genius or madness (we’ll let you be the judge of that). McNugget Buddies This might have been the announcement that sent our nostalgic hearts soaring… the return of McNugget Buddies! ©McDonald’s The newest announced lineup of McNugget Buddies took us by whirlwind when they were finally released after a day’s tease, mostly because it’s been over 25 years since we’ve seen these little guys pop up in our McDonald’s Happy Meals toys. Each of these adult-sized happy meals will contain one of 6 designs by Kerwin Frost (and feature a buddy inspired by him!) There’s just no telling what McDonald’s will think of next to slide in our DMs and keep us coming back for more. Universal has BIG news to share! Universal Orlando It wasn’t too long ago that Universal released a TON of news to us about new parks in Texas, Las Vegas, and the upcoming Epic Universe in Florida; and while we’ve seen a difference in construction in Orlando, there’s not been much more news for the other parks… until NOW! We’ve been in the dark about the upcoming expansion of Universal Parks and Resorts and now we’re getting a few pieces of the puzzle! Universal has taken to Instagram to debut the official name of the immersive kids theme park that will be built in Frisco, Texas: Universal Kids Resort. ©Universal Their post went on to caption the logo announcing, “We are excited to introduce Universal Kids Resort, the company’s first-ever theme park designed specifically for families with young children. This imaginative, original resort brings the company’s innovative style of storytelling to a new, younger audience.” The post also included a statement from Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative, expressing her excitement for the immersive storytelling and imaginative discovery play they hope will be received by young children and their families warmly. ©Universal The next photo that was included depicts updated artist concepts of the new park, which includes notable changes from the original concept art. Here we see differences in almost every corner of the park — most noticeably the entranceway now missing the giant DreamWorks sign. We’re also seeing more water area, and toned-down theming in some of the lands. ©Universal If you’re having a hard time remembering what the first concept looked like, here’s a picture for reference. ©Universal We’re not certain if this new design is the final rendering for the park or if plans could change as they continue with the buildout of Universal Kids Resort. Additionally, it seems that Universal has already begun filing trademark applications associated with Universal Kids Resort. The purpose of these filings were noted for use in theme parks and amusement parks, as well as for clothing, souvenirs, books, and other merchandise. Permits Filed ©AliciaStella This is a very exciting time for Universal and we’re eager to see the progress on Universal Kids Resort as it comes to reality. It’s December! Can you believe we’re almost to the end of 2023? Gideon’s Bakehouse and her big ol’ line Disney has a lot of exciting projects in store for 2024, but before we get there, there’s plenty to experience throughout the resort for December. We’re especially loving the Christmas Tree Stroll in Disney Springs and all the holiday snacks you can grab, and now another two — maybe the best ones of the year — have finally arrived! Gideon’s Bakehouse is one of our favorite stops in Disney Springs for its iconic cookies and cake slices, but we absolutely adore that every new month brings us special dessert offerings. All we can say is YUM! This one is excellent year after year. The rich chocolate flavor mixes so well with the strong mint taste. Plus, there’s a smidgen of salt that just ties the whole thing together. If you love mint chocolate, this is FOR YOU Seriously, we had ZERO complaints about this cookie. If you’re a fan of mint and chocolate, this will easily be one of your favorite treats of the year. You can also grab the beloved Kris Kringle cookie, which is a white chocolate coffee bean treat. Kris Kringle Cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse (2022) This cookie is fantastic for white chocolate fans, but you’ve gotta love coffee! Even though the ground coffee beans give a subtle flavor experience here, it’s definitely still noticeable! The good news is, these will be here all month — plus we’ll be seeing some secret treats, too! Stay tuned! Mele Kalikimaka from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Hello gorgeous! It’s officially December and we’re celebrating with all kinds of new treats around Disney World. From Hot Cocoa Beignets to Present Peppermint Brownie Pops, there are so many ways to satisfy your sweet tooth this month. Come with us to Pineapple Lanai to try the new DOLE whip creation at Pineapple Lanai! The new ‘Olu Mel Holiday Float is a DOLE Whip Lime float with pineapple juice, an ‘Olu Mel white chocolate piece, and strawberry popping candy. It returns annually, and today we picked it up for $6.79. We thought that the lime and pineapple flavors worked together really nicely. It’s both tart, sweet, and a little tangy. We also thought it was a great value — the portion is huge so you could probably share this! So cute! On top, the popping candies were fun and added a great texture. We think kids would really like them, but they are very unique so keep that in mind if you are particular about textures. These are super fun. As for the decor — ‘Olu Mel making snow angels and celebrating 2023? Adorable. But unfortunately, our praise ends there — the image was made with edible paper, which Disney has been using a lot lately, and it’s just not our cup of tea. It made the white chocolate square a little chewy and, well, papery — so it was only good for looks. So cute, but so weird. Aside from the weird edible paper, we think this is worth checking out — especially if you love sweet and tangy treats. If citrus isn’t your thing, however, you might want to skip this one. Any time there’s a new beignet in town, we absolutely consider it breaking news. New beignets? Count us in If you consider yourself a Disney adult OR a sweet treat connoisseur, then you’re probably familiar with Mickey Beignets. While many fans argue that the ones at Disneyland take the cake, you can find some pretty delicious beignets over at Scat Cat’s Club Cafe in Disney World. This eatery at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort serves up all sorts of beignets, and yes, that includes seasonal ones! In the past, we’ve had Peppermint Beignets, Shamrock Beignets, and even BOOZY Beignets. Well, with the holiday season officially underway, there’s a new beignet at Scat Cat’s Club, and we’re taking you with us to try it. Let’s go! Hot Cocoa Beignets are now available at Scat Cat’s Club Cafe for $7.79. This dish comes with THREE Mickey-shaped Beignets with a dusting of hot cocoa powder, fudge drizzle, snowflake sprinkles, and a pipette of chocolate milk. Our stomachs were rumbling as soon as we read the description, and when we were presented with this trio of BEAUTY, it didn’t make it much better. They look great, but how will they taste? Hot Cocoa Beignets Right away, we thought they were delicious. The base of these beignets is the same as you’d find with a classic Mickey beignet, however, they have a unique, chocolatey twist because of the hot cocoa powder. On a typical Mickey beignet, you’ll find a dusting of sweet powdered sugar, and it really sweetens up the beignet, but the hot cocoa powder doesn’t do that quite as much. If you like a more subtly-sweet treat, this could be a good thing. The hot cocoa powder makes it less sweet than the typical dusting of powdered sugar The fudge sauce was GREAT. It was thick, rich, and everything you’d want from a hot fudge dessert topping. We did notice that it has more of a dark chocolate taste than a milk chocolate taste, so it elevates the treat a bit more without making it overly sweet. YUM So, about that pipette of chocolate milk. We weren’t sure how this was going to go. We’re picky about textures, sometimes, alright? However, we REALLY enjoyed it. It softens up the breading quite a bit, and if you’re the type of person who loves to let your cereal soak in the milk before diving in, you’ll wanna utilize that pipette. We didn’t expect to like it, but totally did We’d recommend this snack to anyone who loves hot chocolate, beignets, or even chocolate in general. If you have issues with textures, you might not enjoy the chocolate milk pipette, but that’s the beauty of this treat. You totally don’t have to use the milk! We’d definitely suggest giving this a try this holiday season. We’ll continue to keep you updated with all things Disney, so make sure to follow along for more. The World Showcase around EPCOT holds a vast array of dining experiences for almost any taste and palate. EPCOT We’ve tried some different types of restaurants lately, including recent menu changes at popular Disney World lounges, and cheap restaurants with a nostalgic feel, but where do you go when you’re looking for a more sophisticated night out in Disney World? As you find yourself browsing the wide variety of restaurants around every nook and cranny of EPCOT, you may have found yourself intrigued by the elegant atmosphere of Italy. There are several places to dine in this pavilion including a beverage cart, to-go pizza window, and a few sit-down restaurant options. But if you’re hoping for a truly elevated dining experience, look no further than Tutto Gusto. Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar Tutto Gusto is nestled in between Tutto Italia Ristorante and Via Napoli restaurants. It occupies the same space that was formerly used as lobby space for the neighboring Tutto Italia. Atmosphere Tutto Gusto is themed like an Italian wine cellar, with stone-painted walls and a fireplace. This small but cozy spot boasts over 200 bottles of Italian wines, and serves a select menu of small plates perfect for pairing. Wine Cellar The tables here are smaller but can be moved together to accomodate larger parties… Larger parties are a go …with a few booths… Small booth … and an expansive ornate bar that’s well-lit to dine at if you prefer. Bar Everything about the theming here is set up to help make you feel you’ve stepped into someone’s private wine cellar who’s ready to serve you from their own collection. Menu The menu here is obviously heavily Italian served on smaller plates of Antipasti, Secondi, Pasta, Contorni, and Dolci along with a few Kid’s Meal options. Tutto Gusto food menu The back side of the menu features their extensive drink selections including Frizzante Cocktails (semi-sparkling), Distinctly Italian offerings, Birra (beer), and Vino (wine). Tutto Gusto drink menu We told you there were lots of drinks to choose from here! So after we had a few minutes to browse the menu we were ready to place our order. Eats We decided it would be easiest to order most of our food all at once with the drinks, however, we did wait to order dessert separately. We settled on the Crisp Italian Wines flight, Bellini, Salmone, Mare e Monti, and Lasagne alla Bolognese. The WHOLE meal We also were offered some bread compliments of our waitress. It was brought out while we were waiting for our food. We were served both rolls and breadsticks. Complimentary bread The bread was served with a small plate of oil for dipping. Oil for the bread We found the bigger pieces of bread to be light but toasted enough on the outside for an audible break when you cracked it open, but soft on the inside. The oil added a hint of flavor to it as we staved off our appetite for our main course. Dipped in oil The breadstick weren’t anything special — we found them pretty bland. Breadsticks Our drinks arrived first! Let’s talk about the Bellini first. This was made of Peach purée and prosecco served in a flute glass and cost us $16. Bellini Overall, the flavor was prominently peachy but you could catch the hint of the prosecco as it bubbled in the back of your throat with each sip. We found it delightful and something we certainly would order again on a return visit. Then we turned our attention to the Crisp Italian Whites flight. This wine flight is served as three samplings of Italian white wines in Sauvignon Terre di Bacco, Pecorino Il Feuduccio, and Gavi Batasiolo. This flight cost us $22. Crisp Italian Whites flight When this was served to us, the accompanying card gave a little insight into each wine (which we appreciated), and we found the descriptions spot-on. The Sauvignon Terre di Bacco was dry, crisp, and fruity. We could taste the essence of more citrus tones in this wine. For the Pecorino Il Feuduccio, this one we found to be crisp, too (and a little fruity), but sweeter than the last. Its card also noted hints of honey, ripe fruit, and licorice, so we felt validated in our tasting after we’d had a few sips to compare. We found the Gavi Batasiolo to be the lightest of them all. Again, very crisp and dry but this one was kicked up a notch with the added minerals and citrus flavors. Table setting with drinks and bread Really you couldn’t go wrong with either of these drink options, and we hoped that would continue through the remainder of our meal when the food arrived. Then it was time to move on to the main courses —good thing we were already warmed up for this because their presentation looked delicious! Now for the entrees! We opted to try the Salmone first. This dish was made of pan-seared filet of salmon, green asparagus, and an herb sauce which cost us $34. Salmone The dish looked (and smelled) divine for salmon, but when we started digging into it, we quickly discovered it wasn’t our favorite. The salmon had a good texture to it but we wished there was a flavored sauce to go with it. Inside look If you’re looking for a healthier option to eat here without a lot of fluff to it, this could be a great option to consider. Additionally, the mashed potatoes that the salmon sat on top of were very bland and thick. Just a bite We’re fairly sure we get what the chef was looking to accomplish with this dish, but since the salmon was so stripped down and lacked flavor, we feel like the potatoes would have been an excellent choice to add in some seasoning and dress it up a bit with more flavor. We were left feeling a bit disappointed after trying out this dish, but there were still two left to dig into! Then it was time to try the Mare e Monti. This dish is made of slow-braised chuck short rib, Maine lobster ravioli, and rosemary butter, and cost us $48. Mare e Monti This dish stole the show! The lobster ravioli was the highlight. We thought it was well-seasoned, creamy, and just the right amount of briny to taste the lobster. We could seriously go on and on about this dish, and wanted so much more of a portion of the ravioli. Inside the short rib The short rib was well seasoned, but chewy. We think it could have stood to be cooked longer for a more well-done feel but if you’re someone who likes chewier meat, this could be the perfect dish for you. Short rib It wasn’t bad by any means though, so even if that has you on the fence about it, we’re really just being nitpicky at this point because this dish was delicious with every bite. More ravioli, please! And to round out our main courses we only had the Lasagne alla Bolognese left to try. This dish was made of lasagna traditionally prepared from Emilia-Romagna with beef and pork ragù, béchamel, and parmesan. It cost us $29. Lasagne alla Bolognese We felt this lasagne was fairly run of the mill. While it was served with traditional preparation, it didn’t translate in taste. We felt like we could have gotten the same tasting experience out of a grocery store lasagna for cheaper. It was good, and totally edible, but it just wasn’t anything special to warrant a higher price tag for us. Inside look Again, this is a dish where we see what the chef’s vision was, but it fell short in the execution because we were craving more herbs or seasoning for a pop of flavor. Look at the layers! If we weren’t full enough already (and still trying to cram in every bite of that ravioli and sauce), it was finally time for dessert. After collecting ourselves for a minute and talking over our options with our waitress, we settled on the Limoncello Float and Tiramisu. Time for dessert! Let’s talk about this gorgeous Limoncello Float first. It’s made of Sicilian limoncello poured over homemade limocello gelato and fresh raspberry — and yes, it’s an alcoholic dessert option. This one cost us $19. Limoncello Float This one was fun because you’re served the limoncello gelato and alcoholic limoncello separately so you’re able to pour it to your liking, and we urge you to go slow on that pour — you can always add in more! Sicilian limoncello This is where mistakes were made. We may have gotten a little overzealous (despite the warning from our waitress) and thought we had just enough and really even that was too much. It took a while for the gelato to start melting against the liquid but you really HAVE to love a limoncello taste to enjoy this one! Lemony for sure Between the gelato and the alcohol, there’s no escaping that limoncello taste and it only gets stronger once the drink is poured into it. However, if you get past that strong taste the burst of the sour bites of raspberry that are wrapped in the sorbet sort of crystalize against the gelato and make for an interesting texture and added flavor. And finally, it was time to dig into the Tiramisù. This dessert is a classic coffee-flavored Italian dessert created with ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar and mascarpone cheese, and topped with fresh cocoa powder, which cost us $13. Tiramisu We can’t say enough good things about this one! The decadent layers were so fluffy and light as we dug in with each spoonful and an interesting texture was added with the cocoa powder that topped the dessert. Cut in half It’s definitely a coffee-forward dessert so you’ll need to be expecting a more robust, darker coffee taste, but it was perfect for us to wind down our late-night meal and was served as an easily sharable portion. A spoonful We’re still dreaming of the last few bites of this dessert! Overall As a whole, there’s still quite a wide variety to choose from on both the food and drink fronts so we really feel like there’s something for everyone here. Out of everything we enjoyed this visit, there were 3 items that just didn’t do it for us. Top-notch theming Since we ordered so much we feel like that needs to be taken into consideration because we had the luck of quantity on our side, but if you’re really looking to get a sense of the quality of how your meal will taste before you’ve ordered, lean into your waiter for advice. Nosh or Not? We’d recommend checking this out for a night out if… You’re looking for an elevated dining experience. The same old place in EPCOT just won’t do anymore and you need a bit more sophistication. You’re celebrating! This is a cozy, intimate atmosphere with dimmed lighting and smaller tables that’s built to help evoke a more private dining experience for you and yours. You’ve got a little deeper budget to spend. This kinda goes without saying but a quick glance at the menu and the prices we paid here should tell you this is a meal you’ll need to be prepared to drop a bigger budget on. You’ll probably want to opt for another place if… You want space. With the more intimate setting comes less space. If you’re someone that’s going to mind the tighter quarters or need more room from the table beside you, this probably isn’t for you. You’re budget-conscious. This could go either way but it’s an expensive meal after a few entrees, drinks, apps, and dessert. If you’re still looking to dine here, consider a smaller meal if budget is a concern. You’re an adventurous eater. Yes, this meal is heavily Italian cuisine but it’s also fairly basic and traditional. If you’re really into spices, flavors, and more additives to your meals, this might not be as tasty for you. Have you ever dined at Tutto Gusto? Or do you prefer one of the other restaurants around the Italy pavilion at EPCOT? Disney’s Lorcana card game has taken the world by storm…and we have HUGE NEWS that you need to know TODAY! Disney Lorcana starter sets This trading card game, which released in August, sold out so fast that many have had trouble getting their hands on the cards. We’ve even seen Disney Lorcana card decks turn up online on sites like eBay selling for THOUSANDS of dollars. That’s probably why Amazon is using a virtual queue for the release of the new Disney Lorcana set Rise of the Floodborn. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Do you have an Amazon Prime membership? If not, did you know you could sign up for a free trial? You can do that below! Note that this is the FIRST time a virtual queue has ever been created for a board game, trading card game, or toy in Amazon history. In fact, Amazon usually only does virtual queues for major launches, like it did for the PlayStation 5. So this is a BIG deal. Buy Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn Starter Decks (Amber/Sapphire) and (Amethyst/Steel) and Booster Display Boxes ©Ravensburger Starting at 9AM PST on December 1st, fans wanting to get their hands on the Rise of the Floodborn starter decks and booster display boxes can sign up for a virtual queue that will put them in a lottery system. Once the virtual queue closes, random fans will get an invitation by email giving them 72 hours to purchase the Disney Lorcana products they want. If they don’t act within 72 hours, someone else will take their spot. Join the Amazon Virtual Queue Note that the virtual queue is only open to those in the U.S., but it will be open for several days. Amazon will also let those who’ve had successful purchases when the sets are ready to ship. You are limited to only two per product. Good luck! We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney Lorcana news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. How are you going to ring in the new year? Fantasy in the Sky for New Year’s Eve 2022 If you’re going to be spending New Year’s at Disney World, you probably won’t be alone, but you’re also in store for a good time! Disney World has PLENTY to offer on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, and for some of it, you don’t even need a park ticket or reservation. Let’s take a look! Magic Kingdom Fantasy in the Sky for New Year’s Eve For this activity, you WILL need a park ticket and reservation, but that’s the only spending you need to do — we promise! That’s because watching Magic Kingdom fireworks doesn’t cost anything extra! What better time to watch fireworks at Disney World than New Year’s Eve? With the rare fireworks show Fantasy in the Sky returning for two days only this year, experiencing New Year’s Eve in Magic Kingdom and taking part in the countdown to the new year is an extra special way to close out 2023. (And if you absolutely, positively do NOT want to spend money, then you can catch these from the Polynesian Village Resort Beach free of charge.) EPCOT New Year’s Eve at EPCOT EPCOT, unsurprisingly, can be a VERY FUN place to be on New Year’s Eve. If high-octane environments and festive spirits are calling your name, then you should make your way to EPCOT before the Ball drops. EPCOT usually features DJs and dance parties at several pavilions at World Showcase, making it one of the biggest New Year’s parties around. We’re still expecting official word on special events and fireworks (they usually add a New Year’s tag to the fireworks that is MASSIVE!), but since there will be a brand new show happening this year, we’ll let you know as soon as there is an update. Disney Springs The Boss Brunch at City Works Eatery & Pour House ©City Works Now we’re getting into some of the great stuff you can do for New Year’s without a theme park ticket! At Disney Springs, we’re still learning about special restaurant offerings and events (which we will update you on regularly), but we already know about a popular New Year’s Day event at City Works Eatery & Pour House. The premier Disney Springs sports restaurant and bar is hosting its signature Rock N Roll brunch on January 1st, featuring mimosa flights and classic brunch favorites with twists. One example is the Sweet Child O’ Mine — a brioche French toast stuffed with mixed berry compote and topped with powdered sugar and Bailey’s cream cheese. Yum! Disney World Resort Hotels View of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from California Grill Another thing you can do to celebrate New Year’s without a park ticket is to experience what the Disney World hotels have to offer. If you’re staying on property, it’s likely that your hotel has something going on (which you can find on an activity guide at the front desk). For example, California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is hosting Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland, an Alice in Wonderland-themed New Year’s Eve party. The event costs a whopping $799(!!!) and will feature dance music from DJ White Rabbit, a champagne toast at midnight, and spectacular views of Magic Kingdom’s Fantasy in the Sky fireworks show. As we get closer to the New Year’s festivities, we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on all the special events. Patience may be a virtue, but that doesn’t mean it’s always necessary. Cinderella Castle When booking a trip to Disney World, it’s imperative to understand you’re going to do a lot of waiting. Whether it be for your favorite ride, a new show, or sit-down dining, part of the Disney World experience is the endless abundance of lines. Although Disney World has gotten better with queue theming and virtual queues, you’re still wasting so much time doing nothing. With that said, there are select Disney World attractions with average wait times that are sure to put a smile on your face. While certain E-ticket rides can have you waiting over an hour just for a few minutes of ride time, there are MANY Disney World attractions that hardly ever have you wait for an hour, if ever. Let’s talk about the 46 Disney attractions that will always have short and sweet waits! Magic Kingdom Astro Orbiter Magic Kingdom is Disney World’s most popular park, and with that comes crowds. Still, while everyone flocks to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain, there are several attractions you can experience to escape the long lines while having a good time. Here are the Magic Kingdom attractions with wait times that average under an hour even during peak crowds: Astro Orbiter The Barnstormer Country Bear Jamboree Dumbo the Flying Elephant The Hall of Presidents Liberty Square Riverboat Mad Tea Party The Magic Carpets of Aladdin Mickey’s PhilharMagic Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Swiss Family Treehouse Tom Sawyer Island Tomorrowland Speedway Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid Walt Disney World Railroad Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room BEST and WORST Rides in Magic Kingdom EPCOT Living with the Land Over at EPCOT, a wide array of attraction offerings helps ease the waiting burden when rides like Test Track and Frozen Ever After post hour-plus waits. A lot of the rides and attractions that don’t require long waits are often pretty relaxing and can even be informational. Here are the EPCOT attractions with wait times that average under an hour even during peak crowds: The American Adventure Awesome Planet Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros Impressions de France Journey Into Imagination With Figment Living with the Land Mission: Space Reflections of China The Seas with Nemo & Friends Spaceship Earth Turtle Talk With Crush Ranking Every Single Ride in EPCOT Disney’s Hollywood Studios Star Tours Disney’s Hollywood Studios has some of the most popular rides at Disney World, so it’s very rare you will find short lines and low crowds. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land are both major draws with big-time attractions, and it doesn’t necessarily let up in other parts of the park either. Still, there are a few attractions you can count on for shorter wait times. Here are the Disney’s Hollywood Studios attractions with wait times that average under an hour even during peak crowds: Alien Swirling Saucers Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy Muppet*Vision 3D Star Tours — The Adventures Continue Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie See the Wait Times at 10 Hollywood Studios Rides During a Sold-out Jollywood Nights Party Disney’s Animal Kingdom TriceraTop Spin There’s an obvious challenge when it comes to Disney’s Animal Kingdom — the smaller number of rides. With a shorter supply of attractions, the demand goes up leading to longer wait times. If you’re thinking about short wait times for attractions in Pandora — The World of Avatar, forget about it. Still, other wait times for great attractions like Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain are manageable while other attractions practically have no wait. Here are the Disney’s Animal Kingdom attractions with wait times that average under an hour even during peak crowds: The Boneyard DINOSAUR Feathered Friends in Flight! Festival of the Lion King Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail It’s Tough to be a Bug! The Walt Disney Company has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the last few years. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters From lawsuits and less-than-stellar Disney+ subscriber numbers to political controversy and more — it’s been a rough time to be a Disney fan, and likely an even rougher time being a Disney shareholder. But, good news is here for shareholders for the first time since 2020. On November 30th, 2023, The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors announced a cash dividend of $0.30 per share for the second half of fiscal year 2023. The dividend will be “payable January 10, 2024 to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 11, 2023.” Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times “This has been a year of important progress for The Walt Disney Company, defined by a strategic restructuring and a renewed focus on long-term growth,” said Mark Parker, Chairman of the Board. “As Disney moves forward with its key strategic objectives, we are pleased to declare a dividend for our shareholders while we continue to invest in the company’s future and prioritize meaningful value creation.” Magic Kingdom Per Scott Gustin, Disney suspended the dividend in May 2020 when it was priced at $0.88 per share. Prior to COVID, Disney declared dividends semi-annually. This is likely welcome news, as Disney stock has not been doing well lately. Back in October, prices were trading at their lowest point in nearly 10 years — since October 2014. During the most recent company earnings call, we learned that revenues for Q4 of fiscal year 2023 grew 5% and 7% compared to the prior year-quarter and prior year, respectively. Out of all the holiday activities that you can experience at Disney World, Candlelight Processional is among the fan-favorites. EPCOT Candlelight Processional This EPCOT event is hosted by celebrity narrators who are accompanied by a choir consisting of Disney World Cast Members. Through song and story, they spread some touching Christmas joy! Many folks pick which night they attend the show based on who is narrating, but now, a few folks have been left disappointed. Two of the 2023 celebrity narrators have dropped out of the event. Candlelight Processional sign Ann-Margret dropped out of the November 28th and 29th shows, and has been replaced by Ashley Eckstein. Candlelight Processional Simu Liu dropped out of the November 30th show and has been replaced by Bart Millard. Candlelight Processional Both changes have been updated on Disney’s website. When you study Disney World as much as we do, you learn some very bizarre things that happen around the parks. Disney’s Hollywood Studios For example, did you know there is a code word that signals human remains have been found? . Disney does some unique things to keep the magic alive, and today we’re talking about a weird one — “bagging the fish.” Sound bizarre? Honestly, same, but it’s an important part of the production of a popular show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. During the finale of Fantasmic!, characters from the show float by on a boat, driven by Steamboat Willie. Fantasmic! For safety, these characters then all head inside to take cover right before the fireworks start to go off — with one exception. One of the characters on the boat is Ariel — in mermaid form! Since she has fins, she can’t walk off like the rest of them. Fantasmic! Thankfully, Prince Eric is there to help. Think his job is to carry her off? Nope! Right before exiting the top of the boat himself, he wraps a flame-retardant blanket over her so that she is safely covered and protected from the fireworks. This action is affectionately called “bagging the fish.” Fantasmic! Next time you watch this show, keep an eye on Ariel and Prince Eric if you want to see it happen! If you’ve set sail with Disney Cruise Line (DCL) out of Florida, then there’s a good chance that you’ve probably boarded the ship via Port Canaveral. The Disney Dream This has been the primary port in Florida for as long as DCL has been sailing, but now, a new year-round port has been added. DCL entered an agreement with Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale in 2021 to serve as a port for the next 15 years, starting in October 2023. This is the FIRST time a port has been added for year-round use rather than seasonally, so it’s a pretty big deal! We’re taking you along with us today for a TOUR of Port Everglades as we embark on the Disney Dream. Come along with us for our journey through Port Everglades! When we arrived, we headed down a passageway to the check-in area. The lines are split for those headed toward the DCL transportation away from the port, as well as the line we were in — to head to check in. If you drive, you’ll park in the Heron Garage in Terminal 4. You have to arrive at your EXACT appointed time or you’ll be forced to enter a waiting corral. Port Everglades Transportation Line We’re finally here! So cute When we headed inside, the check-in area was incredibly busy, of course, but that is to be expected for a cruise. We were in awe of the decor inside! Look at all of those hidden Mickeys in the ceiling! Checking in! One of our favorite things about the Port is that there is Joey Chou artwork throughout it. Check it out! There’s this Steamboat Willie art… Steamboat Willie There’s also Donald and Daisy! Donald and Daisy And, of course, there’s Mickey and Minnie. Mickey and Minnie Once you’re checked in, you can head to a waiting area to wait for your boarding group to be called! It’s basically like a larger scale version of airplane boarding. Waiting Area While you wait, you can also head over and take a look at the ship through the glass! There she is! The Disney Dream There are also screens everywhere so that you know exactly when you should jump in line to board the ship. Boarding Once our boarding number was called, we jumped in line to board the Dream. This line was a lot more manageable. Boarding line We can’t wait to share our adventures aboard the Disney Dream with you all. Make sure to follow along for more so that you never miss a thing and are always in the loop. When you’re super hungry, in a hurry, and can’t be bothered to go through the whole endeavor that is Disney World table-service dining, quick service is the way to go! Capt. Cook’s Throughout the hotels and theme parks, Disney World has over 100 quick service locations where you can grab your food and GO, and at some locations, you can even order it ahead of time so that it’s ready as soon as you get there. While these locations are meant to be quick and convenient options, there are some things that YOU as a visitor might be doing that make it much less convenient for others. So, here are a few unspoken rules of dining at quick service locations just to make sure that we’re all being good Disney World citizens. Clean up after yourself! At quick service locations, a general rule of thumb is that each visitor is responsible for cleaning up their own mess. Seating at Cosmic Rays Some locations, like ABC Commissary, request that you leave your trash at the table to be cleaned by a Cast Member. However, if it isn’t stated, do everyone a favor and clean up your mess. Don’t just sit around if you’re done eating! Nothing is worse than being without a table at a restaurant, and then seeing a group of folks just chattin’ it up when they’ve clearly already eaten. Once you’re finished, offer your table to someone else! At a busy restaurant, be courteous of other visitors and give up your table once you’re finished eating. There are plenty of other places to relax around the parks! Give up extra chairs. This goes hand in hand with the aforementioned rule. If you’re in a smaller group and have an extra chair, and happen to see a larger group of folks who don’t seem to have enough chairs, offer the extra one to them! Upstairs at Pinocchio Village Haus So often, we see folks using extra chairs to store bags and jackets while a group close by is having to share seating. Come on, be a kind human! Don’t order bottled water! Okay, this has nothing to do with being a good Disney World citizen. BUT… it could save you money. We see folks paying for bottled water at these restaurants when they could be getting an endless supply of ice water for free! Did someone say free water? Yep, just ask the Cast Members for a water cup and you’ll be golden. Oh, and it’s not the sulfurous-tasting water you’ll find at the water fountains, either. Don’t stand with your entire group at the Mobile Order counter. If your mobile order isn’t ready to be picked up yet, please wait outside. Don’t crowd the Cast Members and folks grabbing their food by just hanging out around the pick up window if you know your food isn’t ready yet. It’s crowded enough already This can actually make it a much faster experience for everyone involved. Always order plastic cheese. Seriously. It’s good on everything. It should be considered a crime to not get a side of plastic cheese for all dipping purposes. REAL plastic cheese Burger? Plastic cheese. Hot dog? Plastic cheese. Fries? DEFINITELY plastic cheese. And there you have it! We’ll continue to keep you updated with more Disney tips, so make sure to follow along for more so that you’re always in the loop. His appointment is effective January 9th, 2024 as director while James P. Gorman is also set for his appointment effective February 5th, 2024. Gorman will be joining The Walt Disney Company after serving as CEO of Morgan Stanley for the past 14 years. ©The Walt Disney Company Both Gorman and Darroch will be included in the company’s slate of director nominees in the upcoming proxy statement for Disney’s 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Their nominations come on the heels of the news that current Disney board member, Francis A. deSouza, has decided not to stand for reelection at the annual meeting. deSouza has expressed an interest in pursuing new opportunities in technology sectors that will require his full attention. ©Disney If elected, Gorman and Darroch will join the board of directors currently seated among notable names like Mary T. Barra, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of General Motors Co.; Safra A. Catz, Chief Executive Officer of Oracle Corp.; Amy L. Chang, a former senior executive at Cisco and Google and a current director of Procter & Gamble. However, this nomination may not go as smoothly as The Walt Disney Company anticipates. Upon the news of the nominations to the board of directors, Nelson Peltz has announced he is seeking multiple positions on the board as well. According to a post by CNBC, the activist investor and his firm are “seeking more than two seats on Disney’s board, according to a person familiar with the matter, setting the stage for a proxy fight.” ©Reuters A spokesperson for Trian Fund Management, said Thursday morning that it “intends to take our case for change directly to shareholders.” which Peltz is a co-founder of. However, Disney seems to believe this potential proxy battle may stem from a personal grudge held by an ally of Peltz named Ike Perlmutter (who is a former MARVEL executive). To support their position, Trian argues Disney offered at one time early on to set up a meeting with the board, however, they rejected Trian’s expressed interest in joining the board, which would have included the addition of Peltz. Trian did not note in a statement exactly how many seats it plans to seek on the board and has declined to comment further beyond its public statement. ©Trian Partners Within its statement, Trian went on to say, “While James Gorman and Sir Jeremy Darroch represent an improvement from the status quo, the addition of these directors will not, in our view, restore investor confidence or address the root cause behind the significant value destruction and missteps that this Board has overseen,” It may be of interest to know that Disney stocks have been underperforming as of the most recent months and are only up by 6%. In addition, Trian claims to own around $3 billion in Disney stock. The firm also has oversight of shares owned by the former MARVEL executive, Ike Perlmutter, who’s been a critic of Bob Iger’s for some time complaining about overspending. ©New York Times Nelson Peltz of Trian Partners As we mentioned briefly before, Peltz had pushed for a seat on Disney’s board earlier after Trian took an approximate $800 million stake in Disney. After Iger unveiled a broad restructuring of the company this past February, that plan enacted layoffs and cost cuts which then staved off a proxy fight from Peltz. ©Disney Iger has recently said he was focused on “building again” and intends to shift focus on theme parks, ESPN’s upcoming streaming service, and improving the studio’s business. We have been seeing a lot of price increases around Disney World recently — and it looks like they aren’t stopping. Welcome Home! From increases in parking, park tickets, and food— we thought we’d seen it all. However, we recently caught wind of some price increases on some experiences around the resort. We can’t hold it in anymore, so it is time to just jump right into it. The first experience that we noticed had gone up in price was the Sangria University at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. At this experience, you learn how to make the 4 in-house varieties of Sangria that are served at the Three Bridges Bar and Grill. After this, you have a tasting session of the sangrias as well as an appetizer. Three Bridges Bar and Grill This opportunity used to cost $59 per person, and now the cost is between $69 and $79 per person. The prices will vary by date and do not include tax and gratuity. Sangria Flight at Three Bridges Bar & Grill The next experience that has seen a price increase is the La Cava Experience in La Hacienda de San Angel, in the Mexico pavilion at EPCOT. This experience allows you to try a selection of unique agave spirits, some of which are only available at this experience! They pair each agave spirit with a flavor to help enhance its essence. Agave Experience To enjoy this experience, it used to cost $150 per person. The cost is now $180 per person, plus tax. Gratuity is included in the price, so no need to worry about having that extra cash on hand. Mexico Pavilion With prices constantly increasing at Walt Disney World, it can be hard to keep up. Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, has been in the news a lot lately. ©Disney Iger recently garnered some attention when he commented on Disney’s “woke agenda“ and again when he confirmed his 2026 exit from the company. On top of this, he has also made headlines for making the decision to pull advertising from X (formerly Twitter). Now, Elon Musk, the owner of X, is firing back. Recently, Musk endorsed a post with comments that were deemed anti-Semitic, causing a lot of backlash. As a result, Disney, along with Comcast/NBC Universal, Paramount Global, Warner Bros. Discovery, Apple, Lionsgate, and other companies pulled advertising from the site. ©Getty Images via The Hollywood Reporter “I have a lot of respect for Elon and what he has accomplished,” said Iger, regarding his decision. “We know that Elon is larger than life in many respects, and that his name is very much connected to the companies he founded or owns. By him taking the position he took in a public manner, we felt that the association was not necessarily a positive one for us.” ©Apple According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elon Musk has since commented on the mass exodus of advertisers, specifically addressing Iger. “Don’t advertise. If someone is going to try and blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f**k yourself,” Musk said. “Go f**k yourself, is that clear? Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience. That’s how I feel, don’t advertise.” ©Getty Images via The Hollywood Reporter While Musk has commented that he “should, in retrospect, not have replied to that particular post,” he also stated that he has “no problem being hated.” As for Iger’s future plans for advertising on X, he hasn’t decided. “I haven’t really addressed it since the decision was made,” he said. ©Reuters | Disney CEO Bob Iger As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news. What’s the WORST park in Disney World? Disney World Everyone probably has a different opinion, depending on personal preference and experience. But when you put thousands of those opinions together, you can get a pretty clear picture of which park most people put in the last-place slot. So we went to Yelp to find the answer! Disney World has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT. There are also two water parks, tons of hotels, and a shopping and dining district called Disney Springs, but we’re just talking about those four theme parks right now. Magic Kingdom is the most iconic park — it was the first Disney theme park in Florida, it’s home to Cinderella Castle, and there are lots of classic rides like Dumbo, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Animal Kingdom is where you’ll find Pandora: The World of Avatar, the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride, and some fun shows like Festival of the Lion King and Feathered Friends in Flight. It’s a great option if you want a more chill, relaxing day. Animal Kingdom EPCOT is known for seasonal festivals, which bring lots of great food to the booths around the park. It also has World Showcase, with 11 pavilions that represent different countries around the world. Plus, you can ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which is a really awesome roller coaster. EPCOT A lot of visitors say that their favorite park is Hollywood Studios, since that’s where you’ll find Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, and most of the biggest roller coasters in Disney World. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios’ popularity is why we were SHOCKED to find out that this is actually the WORST-reviewed ride in Disney World on Yelp! WORST: Disney’s Hollywood Studios — 3.7 Stars Of all the four theme parks, Hollywood Studios had the LOWEST rating, with 3.7 stars. Some of the reasons why people ranked it this low were high wait times, rides that break down frequently, and big crowds. ©Yelp Tom said, “Early admission day today on a Saturday at the Hollywood studio [sic] and the top four rides are broken down. It’s getting to be an old circumstance now as this happens continuously at the Disney parks.” We agree that it’s definitely a bummer when you arrive at a park on time only to find that several of the rides are unavailable. Rise of the Resistance Entrance Phil said that Hollywood Studios is “the worst Disney park. It’s tiny and always overcrowded. The rides are limited only having and [sic] small handful in the park, and they are often broke.” Hollywood Studios rides tend to have very long lines, as there are fewer options in the park and lots of them are popular. Some of these popular rides — like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — are definitely prone to breaking down frequently. Rise of the Resistance For that reason, we recommend purchasing Genie+ at Hollywood Studios. Being able to skip the lines in this park is HUGE when there are so many long wait times. Slinky Dog Dash Karla gave Hollywood Studios a 5-star review: “Haven’t been in YEARS. Came for my boyfriend’s milestone birthday because he’s a Star Wars nerd. Galaxy’s Edge is out-of-this-world! We were able to do everything we wanted to from specific rides to making light sabers and everything in between.” Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Planning ahead and prioritizing your must-do attractions is especially important at Hollywood Studios so that you’re able to spend your time wisely and not miss out on the best things. Click here for a FULL GUIDE to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. 3rd: Magic Kingdom — 3.9 Stars The next-to-worst park according to Yelp is another surprise: Magic Kingdom with 3.9 stars. Magic Kingdom also had the most reviews of any of the parks, but not by much — it only had about 100 more reviews than EPCOT (which scored higher). ©Yelp The reviews for Magic Kingdom were a mixed bag. Brian had a horrible experience, calling the park a “total scam.” His main complaints were that Genie+ costs extra and the TRON virtual queue is difficult to use. Before you visit Magic Kingdom, make sure to read up on virtual queues — some of them fill up FAST, and it can definitely be a surprise and a disappointment to miss your chance to ride one of those popular coasters. TRON Lightcycle / Run Randy visited Magic Kingdom for one hour and then left straight away. He said, “Traveled a long distance to find Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion and People Mover all closed the day we arrived to the park.” Like Hollywood Studios, ride closures frequently plague Magic Kingdom. Usually, the closures only last a couple of hours, so make sure to keep checking the My Disney Experience app for updates! However, it’s not unheard of for some attractions to be closed all day. Peter Pan’s Flight Other guests love Magic Kingdom, especially for its nostalgia factor. Thomas said, “As an annual pass holder I am a frequent visitor to all of the Disney parks. Magic Kingdom was my first ever Disney experience so it will always be that special place.” Thomas also enjoyed the new TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster: “I had the chance to ride on TRON recently, and must say it was one of the best rides I’ve experienced out of all the parks.” Magic Kingdom Entrance Arelys also had a good experience at Magic Kingdom: “I had the chance to visit Magic Kingdom with my friend and it was an experience like no other! This huge park is stunningly beautiful, with the giant castle taking center stage as its main attraction. It’s so big that seeing everything in one day is nearly impossible. There are some thrilling roller coasters and countless other entertaining activities. The food throughout the park is really good too. But the highlight for me was the fireworks show at night – it’s absolutely the best and creates a unique experience you won’t forget.” Magic Kingdom fireworks The most important thing you can do to make your experience more like Thomas’ and Arelys’ is to plan ahead! Make a list of your priorities, learn about Genie+ and virtual queues, be at the park EARLY (before it opens), and make a Plan B in case any unavoidable issues (like ride closures) come up. Click here to read our FULL GUIDE to Magic Kingdom. 2nd: Disney’s Animal Kingdom — 4.1 Stars The second-highest-rated Disney World theme park is Animal Kingdom, with 4.1 stars! ©Yelp We’d say that Animal Kingdom is the chillest park in Disney World. It’s usually less crowded than the other parks, and the atmosphere is more relaxing. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Maggie gave the park a 5-star review: “We only checked out 2 Avatar rides and a water raft ride. Everything went as it should. We also enjoyed a nice meal at Tiffins. In about 5 hours, we saw what we wanted to see. That wasn’t too much of the park, but EPCOT was prioritized on this trip. I’ve always liked this park and I’d like to spend more time there in the future.” Pandora Codie agreed that Animal Kingdom is a great park: “I went as an adult last August and this past September and I have to say Animal Kingdom is hands down my favorite park! From the avatar rides and area, the amazing animal safari, and all the other wild things AK had to offer! I tend to find my favorite pins and souvenirs at this park as well! Also glad I got to see dynoland [sic] before it is no more! Can’t wait to see the transformation.” Disney’s Animal Kingdom Even though it got pretty positive reviews for the most part, some reviewers still had negative things to say about the park. Davina said, “To say, it’s heartbreaking that it’s not the same is an understatement. Today, had to have been one of the worst days & money spent on a theme park. Animal Kingdom used to be our go to for a ‘not so fast pace’ a lively, be in the moment park.” Davina’s experience was a 4-hour wait on Avatar: Flight of Passage and a 2-hour wait on Navi River Journey, both of which are in Pandora: The World of Avatar. End of the line for Flight of Passage The rides in Pandora are some of the most popular in the park, and most people head straight there when the park opens. If you want to avoid the crowds at rope drop, you can purchase a Lightning Lane for Flight of Passage. Click here to read our FULL GUIDE to Animal Kingdom. BEST: EPCOT — 4.2 Stars EPCOT won the best-rated Disney World park according to Yelp reviews! It had 4.2 stars with over 2,600 reviews. ©Yelp So what is it that made EPCOT stand out to reviewers? Many people mentioned the seasonal festivals, which bring lots of tasty food and drinks, fun entertainment, and unique activities to the park. 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Linda said, “Another thing that I remember about EPCOT was the different representations of countries. This was a favorite back then and was still amazing on our last visit.” Morocco Pavilion One of the complaints about EPCOT is that the park is very big, so it can take a long time (and a LOT of walking) to get all the way around World Showcase. World Showcase We recommend planning your Disney World vacation during a time when a festival is going on so that you can enjoy all of those offerings. And make sure you learn about the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind virtual queue before you visit so that you’re able to ride that coaster! Another option is to purchase an individual Lightning Lane instead. Click here to read our FULL GUIDE to EPCOT. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on all the latest Disney news!
