  1. So many of us fly to Orlando when we visit Disney World. Speaking of unclaimed luggage Of course, we have to worry about things that can interfere with our trip. From flight delays to cancellations, anything is possible. But sometimes, the airlines lose luggage, and although most of us would go to great lengths to get our luggage back, sometimes the luggage goes unclaimed. So what happens then? Well, if someone loses their luggage and it goes unclaimed, you might be surprised what happens to it. According to NPR, unclaimed luggage goes to a store in Scottsdale, Arizona called Unclaimed Baggage. Yep, when folks lose their luggage and don’t reclaim it, those bags are opened, and their contents are sold in a shop (after they’re properly vetted and cleaned, of course). So yes, you can go into that store and buy other people’s stuff, usually at really low prices. Here’s the thing — this is the ONLY place in the U.S. you can do that, too. ©Unclaimed Baggage The store got its start in 1970 when entrepreneur Doyle Owens borrowed a pick-up truck and $300 and bought his first load of unclaimed baggage from Trailways Bus Line. It was such a success that the Unclaimed Baggage Center was born. Eventually, the company began partnering with airlines. ©Unclaimed Baggage In 2020, though, the store did something really amazing: they opened an online shop. So, YES, you can shop other people’s lost luggage ONLINE right now at Unclaimed Baggage.com. We’re going to warn you, though: yes, there are Disney items available. Once you go down that rabbit hole, well, you’ll see. ©Unclaimed Baggage The most popular part of the store, though, might be the electronics department. You can find everything from mobile phones to laptops to headphones and more! Don’t worry, though; all electronics are wiped clean of any personal data and checked to make sure they’re functional. We spotted Apple AirPods Pro at a HUGE discount. ©Unclaimed Baggage So now you know what happens when an airline loses someone’s luggage and it goes unclaimed. If your luggage happens to get lost, be sure to contact the airline IMMEDIATELY to let them know. If your luggage is never found, you will be compensated for the contents. The good news is that most lost luggage does make it home
eventually. But when it doesn’t, now we know where it might end up. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 3. Have you ever wondered how Disney determines the Genie+ prices per day? Genie+ Well, we noticed something about the prices while in the parks recently that might shed a bit of insight into how the virtual planning assistant is priced. While we were in the parks last week, days before Thanksgiving, we saw Genie+ hit the highest price we’ve seen in a long time. On Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the Genie+ Multiple Parks and Magic Kingdom options hit $35 and eventually sold out later in the day (on Monday). ©Disney But now, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the prices have seemingly gone back to normal. The Multiple Parks and Magic Kingdom options were showing $25 each while EPCOT was $18, Disney’s Hollywood Studios was $22, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom was $26. ©Disney That is a $10 DROP in price in a matter of days! Remember, Genie+ is part of the My Disney Experience app and is a paid service that allows you to get Disney’s version of skip-the-line passes– Lightning Lanes. You can pay for it each day you’re in the park or add it to your tickets when you purchase them. When you use Genie+ you also have access to PhotoPass for attractions and Audio Tales. ©Disney We’ll be keeping our eyes on Genie+ as we get nearer the holidays! 4. Love pin trading at Disney World? Haunted Mansion pin trading board While it’s been around for a while, the rules surrounding it have changed quite a bit over the past few years. After the COVID-19 closures of 2020, Cast Member lanyards were set aside in favor of pin trading boards across Disney’s parks. Lanyards have slowly started to return, so we figured it was the right time to go over some of the “unspoken” rules you should be following when pin trading! Look. Don’t touch. So, first things first, when you’re eyeing those wonderful pins, it’s all about the eyes, not the hands. Pin trading board Take a good look, but resist the urge to dive in with your fingers. Your Cast Member friends will appreciate it! Don’t touch (part 2) Now, we know how it is when you’re studying that pinboard and spot a pin that’s practically calling your name. Pinelope pin trading Instead of grabbing it like it’s the last churro, remember those manners and ask the Cast Member about it. It’s like pin etiquette. Only 2 Trades We know it can feel like you’re in pin paradise, and you want to just trade, trade, trade. But hold on! Pin trading board Keep it to two trades per Cast Member or pinboard encounter. This makes sure that the pin-trading flows without causing a traffic jam. To trade or not to trade? Now, remember not everyone might be up for a trade party. Selection of pins While Cast Members are always game for the pin swap, your fellow guests might not be feeling it and that’s totally okay. Tell them they have great pins and keep moving on. Window shipping is more than okay! Let’s talk window shopping. You see a pin that makes your heart skip a beat, but you’re not really ready to make the trade. That’s okay! Pin Trading Board Just ask to look, soak it in, and remember, you’re there for the fun, not the pressure. Be mindful It’s time to be the pin trader everyone loves. You’ll quickly find that there are pins GALORE, and decisions do need to be made, but be mindful. Cast Members pin trading Don’t set up camp in front of the pinboard. Remember that others want to join in the fun too, you know? Know the rules Last but not least, make sure you and any little sidekicks know the pin-trading ABCs. Pin trading board in Frontierland It’s simple — a pin for a pin. Everyone walks away with a piece of Disney magic. Easy as pie! Pin Trash can! So keep an eye out and make sure you’re following those unspoken rules while enjoying pin trading. We’ll keep you up to date with all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more! 6. The holidays have arrived in Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom. The Dapper Dans in Magic Kingdom The holiday decorations are up, holiday snacks have arrived, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is ON! However, if you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom next week, we’ve got to give you a word of warning: it’s going to be closing early nearly every day next week. One thing we always tell you to do before your Disney World trip is to check theme park hours. That’s because things like after hours events and seasonal parties will close parks early. Well, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is happening on December 10th, 12th, 14th, and 15th. ©Disney What does that mean? It means Magic Kingdom will close EARLY on those days at 6PM. If you don’t have a party ticket, you’ll have to leave the park. If you have the park hopper ticket add-on, you can go to another park, though. Sign at Magic Kingdom on a party night If you’d like to attend the party, though, we’ve got some bad news. EVERY night of the party is sold out except for December 14th. So, if you’d like to go, be sure to buy those tickets ASAP because we expect that night to sell out, too. A party ticket gets you into the event, plus free cookies and drinks, as well as access to exclusive snacks and party-only entertainment like Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. 8. Will you be visiting Disney World for the holiday season? It’s the holiday season! It’s probably one of the most magical times of year to visit. You’ve got gorgeous holiday decorations to see, plus a LOT of amazing holiday snacks to try. There’s the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays PLUS Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party AND Jollywood Nights. But you’re probably also looking forward to doing some shopping, too, right? Well, we’re about to give you some solid advice when it comes to souvenirs. So we get it — you want to buy all your souvenirs in Disney World WHILE you’re there because it’s fun to go shopping on vacation. Well, we’re going to tell you to NOT do that. In fact, if you see a souvenir you want online, you should probably buy it BEFORE your trip. Holiday merchandise Why? Well, buying it online when it’s available might save you some disappointment when you get to Disney World because there’s no guarantee that the item will be there when you get to the parks. We see a LOT of popular merchandise sell out quickly in the parks, particularly things like ears and Loungefly bags, as well as seasonal merchandise. So we do not recommend waiting to buy it in the parks. Stuff sells out fast in the parks There’s another reason to get souvenirs online, too. If you wait to buy stuff in the parks, it’s almost certain that you will pay full price for everything. However, you can get in on sales online and spend less on the same items. In the end, you can save money, which gives you MORE to spend during your trip (perhaps on food? ). You might be able to get these cheaper online So start shopping ahead of your vacation to save yourself time and money. It’s a win-win. And stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips and tricks. 10. Picture this: you’re in EPCOT in late November, the air is crisp, and the Festival of the Holidays event is happening all around. Seasonal EPCOT festivals are a blast! Who doesn’t love an excuse to stroll around the World Showcase and eat small plates of delicious food? 2023 Festival of the Holidays Passport OK, so clearly, we enjoy the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays (and all the other festivals in EPCOT). But that doesn’t mean we walk around the park with rose-colored glasses. Unfortunately, we’ve gotta share some bad news about the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Before we begin, we feel that we need to clarify that there’s a lot to love about the Festival of the Holidays event in EPCOT. This event is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, and there are TONS of great eats and fun drinks to try. But even EPCOT isn’t perfect, so let’s talk about some of the downsides to this event. Cost While we were able to find several small plates that were a great value during the festival, there are some festival foods and drinks that are WAY overpriced. For example, over at the Tuscany food booth in the Italy Pavilion, EPCOT is serving Montanara. It’s fried house-made pizza dough with Pomodoro sauce, parmesan, and fresh basil for $9. But the thing is, you only get four little balls of dough! Does that look like a $9 meal to you? Montanara: Fried house-made pizza dough with pomodoro sauce, parmesan, and fresh basil After you order a few drinks and a handful of small plates, suddenly, you’ve spent hundreds of dollars on a relatively small amount of food! Plus, if you’re sharing with others, that’s even less food going in your belly and even more money coming out of your pocket. Holiday Hearth Spread 2023 If you’re working on a budget, it may take a LOT of self-control and careful planning not to overspend at the festival food booths. Food Lines Problem #2? The LINES! Depending on the time of day, you may end up waiting in loooong lines just to order food at the Festival of the Holidays! Look at that LINE! As you can probably guess, those peak wait times usually hit around lunch and dinnertime. But really, you’re likely to see crowds around the World Showcase anytime from lunch all the way to the end of the night during a festival. Look out for crowds! Plus, you may have to wait for a while as Cast Members prepare your food, especially if EPCOT is busy or crowded. Budget more time than you think to make it all around the World Showcase — it takes a while to order all the foods and drinks you want. Trust us. Food Booth Hours Don’t let this problem trip you up! The Festival of the Holidays food booths do NOT open at the same time as the rest of the park. For example, on the opening day of the festival, EPCOT opened at 9AM. Most of the food booths didn’t open until 11AM that same day! 2023 Shanghai Holiday Kitchen If your plan is to “rope drop” the food booths, don’t bother. The booths have funky operating hours, and those hours aren’t posted on any obvious signs, either. Most days, the food booths are open between 11AM and 9:30PM, though those hours are subject to change. Le Marche de Noel Holiday Kitchen Don’t forget that even if EPCOT is open past 9:30PM, the booths may close earlier than the rest of the park. 2023 Yukon Holiday Kitchen Despite these minor issues, there is still a LOT of fun to be had at the Festival of the Holidays! We love this event and can’t wait to share more tips and tricks for this year’s event. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 11. There are a few restaurant and snack spot closures that might affect your next trip to Disney World! Four spots are currently closed and will likely be closed for the entire week. Dining Room at 1900 Park Fare (2019) Let’s check out all of the temporary closures in Disney World from November 26th through December 2nd so that you’re prepared before your next trip. Restaurant and Snack Kiosk Closures Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick service restaurant that’s remained closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace It’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen this restaurant open for visitors. Pretty much the only thing it’s used for now is the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties. We saw it open in late 2020, when it was serving some favorites from Columbia Harbour House‘s menu while that restaurant was temporarily closed. Tomorrowland Terrace during the day Once in a while, you’ll see the dining area open as a rest area, but usually it’s all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates! Restaurant Marrakesh Almost all of the restaurants that were closed in EPCOT during the 2020 park closure have reopened, but Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco Pavilion is still closed with no word on when it will reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh building Since closing, the empty restaurant has been used as a relaxation station, a lounge
pretty much everything but dining. Recently, we saw that the hedges that were previously in front of the entrance have been removed and the space is once again open as a lounge. We’re hoping the restaurant returns soon! The Land Cart The Land Cart in the Land pavilion of EPCOT is currently closed as well. The Land Cart Disney’s website shows that this cart will be closed through mid-January at least. 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, 1900 Park Fare is a table service restaurant where you could meet characters like Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland at their Supercalifragilistic Breakfast and Cinderella and her Prince Charming during the Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Dinner. 1900 Park Fare They also had a special event for younger children called the Wonderland Tea Party. It’s sad to see a spot closed that had so much character interaction! Disney hasn’t announced a permanent closure, so there is hope for 1900 Park Fare. With 1900 Park Fare closed
you’ll need this SECRET spot to get afternoon tea in Disney World! There are a few other closures to watch out for, including a couple of attractions and a water park. Here’s that list! Magic Kingdom Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Splash Mountain closed on January 23rd for a long refurbishment. The ride is being re-themed to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, with a Princess and the Frog theme. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney The new ride will reopen sometime in late 2024. We’ll be watching for more updates on the reopening timeline. The tree at the top of this ride has been removed as Disney continues construction, and several new rock structures have been built at the bottom of the drop. The queue area is being redone, and we recently saw some concrete added to this space. Construction There’s a new water tower as well, which says “Tiana’s Foods” on the front and “Never, ever lose sight of what’s really important” on the back. It’s topped with Tiana’s crown, which has two stars on it to represent Ray and Evangeline. In addition, Cast Members are currently working on a large mural that’s painted on the side of the queue building. Construction If you miss Splash Mountain or want to celebrate the new ride, you should check out our DFB t-shirts! We have a Splash Mountain Farwell Tour shirt

and a Tiana tee as well! Check out our new Tiana-inspired merch! You can shop both tees (and lots of other Disney merch) at our online store. Click here to shop our DFB merchandise store. Barrel Bridge on Tom Sawyer’s Island The Barrel Bridge on Tom Sawyer’s Island is not only closed — it’s missing completely! Barrel Bridge Is Missing A Cast Member told us a few months ago that it was removed for repairs, and we haven’t seen it back since. We’ll be keeping an eye out for its return. Why You Won’t Want To Go to Magic Kingdom on January 29th Disney’s Hollywood Studios Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a stage show located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It closed with the rest of the parks in 2020 for the pandemic-related shut-down, but even after the parks reopened and the rest of the entertainment slowly returned as well, this attraction remained closed. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney hasn’t announced when or if the Voyage of the Little Mermaid will reopen. However, we have some hope for the show. Disney released this new pin in March 2022 celebrating the 30th anniversary of the attraction, which seems like something they wouldn’t do if they were going to close the show for good. Sign Although we haven’t heard anything definitive about Voyage of the Little Mermaid, we have hope that it could reopen sometime in the future! We’ll be sure to let you know about any updates Come With Us To Watch an Exclusive Fireworks Show in Hollywood Studios! 13. It’s been a BUSY week in Disney World, to say the least. Getting busier That was to be expected, though. It’s the week of Thanksgiving after all! Most kids are out of school and it’s a popular time to travel to the Most Magical Place on Earth. We’ve noticed the crowds which caused some Mobile Order challenges and the price of Genie+ reached its highest point again due to demand. The skip-the-line service even sold out! But what did the wait times look like throughout the week? It’s time to find out. Each week we take a look at the average wait times at every attraction in the four theme parks. Are the wait times really as bad as they seem? Keep scrolling to see the average times at each ride and attraction. Magic Kingdom Starting in Magic Kingdom, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had the longest average wait time of 76 minutes. Last week the average wait time was 63 minutes so the average has increased a lot. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Next, Peter Pan’s Flight averaged 65 minutes, Jingle Cruise averaged 59 minutes, Haunted Mansion averaged 41 minutes, and Space Mountain averaged 52 minutes. 14. It’s no secret that we love cheese. We’ve written about it A LOT. Tony’s Town Square There is certainly no shortage of cheese snacks in Disney World. We LIVE off corn dog nuggets with plastic cheese sauce. We love a good charcuterie plate with a variety of cheese. Cheesy bread is OUR JAM. So when we discovered that you could get foot-long mozzarella sticks in Disney World, YOU KNOW we had to check it out. Okay, so a little background. It’s also no secret that Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom is not at the top of our “Best Restaurants” list in Disney World. But Tony’s sucked us back in with its Foot-Long Mozzarella Sticks. This is Fried Mozzarella with Spicy Creamy Tomato Sauce for $15. They’re a foot long! Okay, we have to show this to you because LOOK at how these things are just OOZING cheese. That gooey cheese works so well with the fried, crispy outside of the sticks, too. But we’ve got a word of warning for you. LOOK at that cheese It’s the sauce. Okay, so it says “spicy” creamy tomato sauce. Well, it really IS spicy (and not just “Disney spicy”). As in, we were reaching for our water glass quickly after. However, we confirmed with a Cast Member that you can ask for the sauce or the side or ask for plain marinara sauce if you don’t like spicy foods or have kids who won’t like spicy sauce. The spicy sauce IS spicy With that being said, this is a solid appetizer or snack, so there IS a reason to go to Tony’s Town Square right now. Although the garlic bread here is pretty solid, too, so let’s take a moment to talk about THAT while we’re here. We’re gonna be honest. Tony’s Garlic Bread For The Table (toasted ciabatta with roasted garlic-butter and parmesan fonduta) was GREAT! In fact, we mighttttt like it better than the Fried Mozzarella. We loved that fondue. It’s garlicky and has a lot of warm parmesan in it. And the bread itself has a nice, crispy, toasted texture and is well-seasoned. You can’t go wrong with garlic bread, right? Try it for $13. Tony’s Garlic Bread For The Table There’s also a new Tortellini al Forno, which is Calabrian chili and cheese tortellini with baked Italian sausage, onions, peppers, and mozzarella in a creamy tomato sauce. This one is $28, and look out! It’s a little on the spicy side. Tortellini al Forno So, are ya tempted to check this place out after all? We came for the fried cheese, but overall, our meal was pretty good! Stay tuned to DFB for more reviews. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! We have reviewed nearly EVERY snack available at Disney World, and we’ve written a series of DFB Guides about them! The back of the sipper We also grabbed the Ready to Sparkle treat for $6.29. This is made of Espresso-Caramel Mousse, Dulce de Leche Whipped Panna Cotta, and Chocolate Shortbread Cookie with a Celestial Mirror Glaze and Golden Star Sprinkles. You can find it at the Contempo Cafe, which happens to be one of our favorite snack spots. Ready to Sparkle treat We loved this treat! It’s very creamy and smooth, and the espresso caramel mousse was well-balanced. We would have loved a little more espresso flavor, and the panna cotta just tasted like sugar; we didn’t necessarily pick up the dulce de leche flavors. However, the chocolate shortbread added the perfect crunch to this mousse treat. It’s adorable! While this treat is very sweet, we don’t think the sweetness is overpowering. If you’re a fan of espresso flavors or light mousse treats, we think you could enjoy this one. We were big fans! Disney didn’t share how long this new treat will stick around, so you might want to visit the Contemporary Resort ASAP if you’re interested. Looking for more recent reviews? 23. There’s something extra special about Disney treats served around the holiday season. Holiday season at Disneyland You can count on us to be on the hunt for great holiday food at the Disney Parks this time of year. From savory bites to sugary sweets, our goal is to try tons of new and returning treats. Recently, we tried a dessert we just had to share! While at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, we came across a VERY CUTE holiday dessert! Next time you find yourself at Disneyland, make your way down to Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe on Main Street, U.S.A. for the Mickey Gingerbread! Mickey Gingerbread This gingerbread cookie is a seasonal offering, so get it fast! Each cookie is $7.99, and there is currently a limit of five Mickey Gingerbread cookies per person, per transaction. Our Gingerbread Man didn’t make it This cookie is billed as “soft,” and we can definitely vouch for that. Our cookie was super fragile, and our little guy’s legs weren’t the sturdiest. Surgery wasn’t an option, so we elected to eat the poor Mickey Gingerbread quickly. It was the right thing to do, after all. 24. We love Disney World. No, we LOVE Disney World!! Festival of Fantasy parade We love the rides, the food, the ambiance, and just how much fun have there. We’ve got to talk about the embarrassing things we refuse to stop doing in Disney World. (Come on, you know you’re guilty of at least one of these!) Crying at Fireworks Shows When the night sky gets illuminated by a dazzling display of colors that’s perfectly synchronized to some epic Disney tunes, it’s that kind of thing that turns even the most stoic among us into sentimental puddles. Fireworks And we’re definitely guilty of shedding maybe one too many tears. So if you see us during a fireworks show, chances are, we may try to play it cool, but there’ll probably be a stream of tears on our faces. Submitting Cringey Jokes to Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Ever been to the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor? (We sure have!) It’s a place where laughter is the ultimate power source, and we’re all aspiring comedians. That brings us to the second embarrassing thing we need to talk about. Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor We may or may not be able to stop submitting some truly cringe-worthy, eye-roll-inducing jokes. Well, they might not win us any stand-up awards, but the collective groans and laughs from the audience make it all worth it. After all, who doesn’t appreciate a good (or not-so-good) dad joke? Taking a Million Pictures in Front of the Castle In our opinion, Cinderella Castle is the EPITOME of Disney magic, and that means we’re always on a mission to capture every angle, every vantage, and EVERY lighting variation possible in front of it. Cinderella Castle Even if our phones protest with a “storage almost full” warning, we find each photo is a snapshot of pure happiness. Singing at the Singalongs (or Fireworks) at the Top of Our Lungs We won’t deny that when those singalongs start, we transform into instant Disney divas and sing out at the top of our lungs. For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Singalong at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Whether we’re belting out “Let It Go” or singing along with the fireworks finale, we’re not holding back. Dancing to Parade Music For us parade music just hits differently. When the parade music comes on, it’s like Main Street, U.S.A. transforms into our personal dance floor. We love a parade! Maybe it’s the infectious beats, maybe it’s the Disney characters and Cast Members, either way, we find ourselves compelled to move, groove, and strut our stuff. Magic Kingdom So, the next time you catch yourself tearing up or attempting a questionable dance move, remember you’re in good company! We’ll keep you up to date with all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more! 7 Embarrassing Things We Still ALWAYS Do in Disney World (Please Don’t Tell) Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
