We’re dropping by to give you a food review on our most recent trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. (Tower of Terror fans, did you see what we did there?) Hollywood Studios When riding those thrill rides all morning, you’re likely to work up a big appetite. There are plenty of quick-service restaurants to choose from at Hollywood Studios. Today, we’re back at one that fills our stomachs and leaves us happy. Let’s take a look to see if this restaurant is right for you on your next Disney trip. Atmosphere When you head down Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studios, you’ll find Sunset Ranch Market. This is a collection of different quick-service restaurants. Sunset Ranch Market Today, we’re heading to Fairfax Fare. Here you can enjoy a hearty meal in the style of a California outdoor market while you hear the distant screams of guests on an elevator ride gone wrong. Fairfax Fare As for eating, you’ll want to be aware that there is only outdoor seating available. There are picnic tables with benches that are covered by umbrellas and some under an open-air cover. The seating is shared with the other restaurants as well, so during peak meal times you’ll find this area busy. Outdoor seating Menu Here’s a look at the menu. You can see they have 4 entrees to choose from. Non-alcoholic specialty drinks and Entree There are also 2 plant-based options to pick from as well as one dessert. Plant-based options and desserts You’ll find your usually beverages here including fountain drinks, bottled water, milk, coffee and tea. Beverages For those of you who are 21 and up, you can select from a few different beers. Beer List Eats You’ll find that the entrees come in waffle bowls. We set out to try a few different bowls and the dessert to let you know if this is worth a stop on your next Disney trip. Full Spread We’re starting with the Barbecued Beef Brisket Bowl. This is Braised Beef tossed in Barbecue Sauce and topped with Pickled Jalapeños, Red Onion, Bacon, and Corn Chips, served on top of House-made Queso Sauce and Mashed Potatoes in a Waffle Bowl. Barbecued Beef Brisket Bowl For $15.29, you get a large portion of food. However, our dish only had two thin pieces of brisket, which was disappointing. The dish was heavy on the mashed potatoes. The corn chips added some texture to the dish to balance out the creamy potatoes. Barbecued Beef Brisket Bowl The brisket was covered in sauce, and it was chewy and gamey. The potatoes were seasoned well, and you’ll find pieces of potato skin in them. The queso was a nice addition to the meal and the relish gave it a little spice. We wish there had been more beef to balance out the dish. Let’s have a bite Next, we tried the Buffalo Chicken Bowl. This bowl has Chicken Breast Nuggets tossed in Buffalo Sauce and topped with Coleslaw, served on Mashed Potatoes. Buffalo Chicken Bowl This bowl is $14.49. Now, we’ll start off by saying this one was our reporter’s favorite. If you are a fan of buffalo sauce, you might know that at Disney World, it’s hard to find a buffalo item that not only tastes like buffalo but has heat. This dish is the exception. It does come with a kick, so be warned and have that water ready. Buffalo Chicken Bowl We appreciate how much meat is in this bowl. Unlike the brisket bowl, we felt like there was a great balance of meat and potatoes. The chicken was juicy, but not overly saucy with buffalo. The coleslaw did help cool down the chicken and added a nice texture. Look at the chicken! For our final entree, we tried the Plant-based Soba Noodle Salad Bowl. This one has Chilled Soba Noodles, Edamame, Red Cabbage, Red Peppers, Shredded Carrots, Celery, and Green Onions tossed in Yakisoba Sauce served in a Waffle Bowl. Plant-based Soba Noodle Salad Bowl This was the cheapest bowl at $13.49. You can add plant-based chicken for an additional $1. This wasn’t our favorite of the dishes, but mostly because we were missing those potatoes. Plant-based Soba Noodle Salad Bowl The noodles were a little chewy, and we were lacking some spice overall. If you’re looking for something unique that’s also vegan, this could be a good option. Delicious Now we needed something sweet. We were ready to dig into the Enchanted Rose. This dessert is a Dark Chocolate Mousse with a taste of Blackcurrant and Morello Cherry-Chocolate Shortbread Cookie, Whipped Cookies ‘n Cream Fluff, and gilded Chocolate-covered Cacao Nibs. Enchanted Rose This dessert was exactly what we wanted it to be. It was rich and chocolatey. We loved the creaminess of the mousse. It was also not overly sweet due to the dark chocolate component. Dessert Our reporter loved the shortbread cookie base and wished there was more of it. The cherry flavor is present but it is very light so if you aren’t a cherry fan, don’t let that stop you. If you are a fan of chocolate and rich desserts, this one is worth it for only $5.79. So rich Nosh or Not You should hit up this quick-service restaurant if… You are looking for a hearty meal. These bowls are heavy and can fill you up easily. You are in a rush. This place has mobile ordering and is a great option for grab-and-go. You are a meat and potatoes kind of person. The menu is narrow here, but if you love meat and potatoes, this is a great option for you. You should drop in somewhere else if… You want indoor seating. If you want to escape the heat or the rain, you’ll want to skip this restaurant. You are looking for something light or on the healthier side. Unfortunately, you won’t find that at Fairfax Fare. You have a large party who all want different things. The menu is small and if you have several people in your party, they might not want meat and potatoes. Overall Fairfax Fare does their small menu well — meat and potatoes in a waffle bowl. Although, we are still confused by the waffle bowl. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a quick option that will fill you up, this is great. We do recommend if you are planning on eating here, mobile order ahead of time. It can get pretty busy around here and mobile ordering can eliminate you waiting for a while. Fairfax Fare However, if this doesn’t sound like something you’d love, there are other GREAT options for quick-service restaurants in Studios. For example, check out ABC Commissary or Woody’s Lunchbox. The Ultimate Guide to Eating in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Need Disney Restaurant Advice? Trust us, you’re not the only one tired of all the construction walls in WallCOT — we mean EPCOT. Construction Walls Yes, the massive EPCOT Transformation has been ongoing for years at the popular park, but we’re finally reaching an ending point. Disney announced the timeline for the finalization of the transformation a few months ago, and we have a sneak peek at one of the areas that has been closed off for so long! Thanks to @bioreconstruct on Twitter, we’re able to see the center of World Celebration as it starts to come to life! This aerial photo was taken recently, showing the EPCOT logo design in the ground, surrounded by landscaping. There are also white posts all around the central area, so it’s possible this will eventually be covered by some sort of “roof.” ©bioreconstruct World Celebration is the first land you encounter when you arrive in EPCOT from the front entrance, where Spaceship Earth is located. You can see those white posts from the picture above being constructed in the photo below. World Celebration construction from June 2023 The central part of World Celebration is going to feature a fan-favorite element that’s been missing in EPCOT for a while: glowing sidewalks! Imagineer Zach Riddley shared on Instagram a while ago that “guests loved the fiber optics embedded in the pavement at EPCOT, and we’re excited to share that we’re bringing back new illuminated paving designs in World Celebration.” The new lighting fixtures will incorporate updated technology and “controllability to deliver some fun new lighting capabilities.” While we don’t know all the details about what kinds of new lighting we’ll see, you can tell from the concept art that the central EPCOT logo under the planter will be lit. ©Disney This area is also going to be where new “hero features” will be located, like topiaries and sculptures. These will change depending on which festival is being hosted in EPCOT at the time. Riddley said that this concept art represents sculptures that could be present during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. The artwork will match the lights on Spaceship Earth. ©Disney According to Disney’s timeline, World Celebration should be complete by the end of 2023, but as we’re less than 6 weeks away from that deadline, some guests are getting a little concerned. We love seeing this sneak peek of what it’s looking like, but we’re still wondering if it’s coming along fast enough. World Celebration walls Disney is also still trying to finish other aspects of the World Celebration transformation, such as Communicore Hall and Communicore Plaza, which are in a similar boat — they’re working hard on them, but will it be fast enough? ©Disney We’re always here bringing you the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB! Park pass reservations are going away for most Disney World visitors on January 9th, 2024, but until that day hits, you’ve still got to be prepared with your reservations before your visit! Cinderella Castle Right now, Magic Kingdom park pass reservations have SOLD OUT for two important upcoming dates. Additionally, EPCOT park passes have sold out for one popular holiday. Magic Kingdom park passes are currently SOLD OUT on Christmas Day, December 25th, for people with theme park tickets and those staying at Disney World hotels. The other three Disney World parks — EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom — still have availability on this day. ©Disney There are still some Magic Kingdom passes available on Christmas Day for Annual Passholders with the Incredi-Pass (all other Annual Passes are blocked out on Christmas Day). However, Magic Kingdom park passes for all Annual Passholders (in all four tiers) have sold out for December 18th and 19th. ©Disney There are still Magic Kingdom park passes available on December 18th and 19th for guests with park tickets and those staying at Disney World hotels. Both Magic Kingdom AND EPCOT park passes have SOLD OUT for New Year’s Eve, December 31st, for people with theme park tickets and those staying at Disney World hotels. ©Disney Magic Kingdom and EPCOT park passes on New Year’s Eve are still available for Annual Passholders with the Incredi-Pass (all other Annual Passes are blocked out on New Year’s Eve). Entering the Park Note that Disney frequently refills park passes, so if you haven’t gotten your pass yet but are hoping to visit on one of these holidays, keep checking back in case more become available! There are currently no dates when park passes are sold out for Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We visit Disney World every day, and it feels like we’ve experienced nearly every possible theme park problem known to man! Magic Kingdom We’ve been stuck on rides, lost possessions, seen fireworks shows rained out, been injured, gotten sick, and so much more. But through it all, we’ve endured! And sometimes, those unexpected issues in the park are a little bit out of our control. We had one of those problems when heading to Magic Kingdom today! When we arrived at the Transportation & Ticket Center on the morning of November 27th, the Monorail was closed! We were trying to get over to Magic Kingdom, but the only available transportation option at first was the ferryboat. It’s closed! And unfortunately, the ferry had QUITE the long line — look at all those people waiting! Good grief! On a day like today, where the temperature is in the low 60s, this ferryboat ride could be uncomfortably chilly if you’re not wearing warm clothes. Thankfully, while we were waiting in line, we heard Cast Members announce that they were opening buses for transportation over to the park as well. Warning if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom today Overall, it ended up taking us about 40 minutes to get from security at the TTC to the entrance of Magic Kingdom. That’s a significant delay for a morning in the parks, and could definitely derail your plans if you were hoping to arrive for rope drop. That’s a long wait! These kinds of unexpected issues are part of why we encourage you to arrive extra early for your park days — you never know what might go wrong. We’ll keep you in the loop if there are any more closures and delays today, so stay tuned to DFB! 5 Annoying Disney World Problems That Actually Have Super Simple Solutions — Click Here! Disney World is a magical place full of dreams, hope, thrills, nostalgia, and sometimes — CRIME. Germany Pavilion in EPCOT The little German villagers in EPCOT’s tiny train town know that all too well. We’ve seen tragedy strike time and time again in this seemingly quaint village — you might remember the recent biochemical attack or the rowdy crime sprees of updates past. Now, we’re crushed to report that the unthinkable has happened in this town once again. EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion is home to some of our favorite snacks, exciting entertainment, shopping, and a town under attack. Just take this seemingly abandoned train station for example. It’s clear that the tracks come to an end, making this station unusable — so what are those folks doing gathered on the platform? Perhaps this is a staging area for nefarious behavior. It also looks like someone is down by the tracks — a potential saboteur? Up to no good It’s pretty clear something shady is going on over on this side of town. Two people, standing off to the side in the bushes in aggressive stances? Who are they trying to avoid? Maybe the person on the left owes the person on the right money for cat-sitting services rendered and is demanding payment — that seems like the most obvious situation for this scene. CAT FIGHT! Over here, what appears to be a friendly game of chess has turned contentious. One man has accused the other of throwing the game on purpose to satisfy a debt to a loan shark and things are getting heated. The man in the back is a little too close for comfort and seems like he’s listening in — perhaps the loan shark sent one of his goons to make sure the debt is settled. Either way, it’s bad news on this side of town. Game gone wrong. We’re sorry to report that misfortune has even come to the little chapel in the town! Several people look injured scattered out in front of the church and the door has been left ajar. What were they fleeing from? A man is stationed out front like a sentinel — what does he know? Is he involved? He doesn’t seem to be concerned in the slightest. Whatever it is, we intend to find out. What is going on in this church? That’s it for Tiny Train Town this time around! Check out past Tiny Train Town updates below: We’ve Uncovered a TERRIBLE SECRET in EPCOT’s Tiny Train Town Yikes! If you’re anything like us, you’ve been VERY excited ever since the third Frozen film was announced. ©Disney Now, we haven’t heard much about this new film at all other than some mysterious updates that just give us small snowballs of information each time, but we have a NEW clue that reveals another piece of the puzzle! In a recent interview with Disney, Jennifer Lee, the Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation who also wrote and directed the first two Frozen films, teased that the series may not end after a third film. Her comments echo what Disney CEO Bob Iger said recently about a possible fourth Frozen movie. Anna and Elsa Topiary To be specific, when asked if she could share anything more on Frozen 3, she stated, “Only what we have already shared, which is the team is hard at work, we are deeply excited about the story we are shaping together, and it’s so epic it may not fit into just one film.” Elsa and Anna In an interview with Good Morning America on Thursday, November 16th, Iger also mentioned a possible fourth movie: “Well, I’ll give you a little surprise there, Michael. Frozen 3 is in the works and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works too.” Iger went on to say, “I don’t have much to say about those films right now. But Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original Frozen and Frozen II, is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.” Blizzard Beach Water Park Frozen and Frozen 2 songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will be returning for the third movie. “It got us very excited,” Kristen said. “Now, we have to let the wheels of Hollywood do what they do, but we were very excited with their ideas.” We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest developments as we hear them, so stay tuned to DFB! Disney is introducing tons of new snacks and offerings for the holidays. EPCOT Festival of the Holidays We’re making it our mission to try them all, and today we’re in Disney Springs to try the new drinks over at the Coca-Cola Rooftop Bar — are they worth the money this holiday season? Over at the Coca-Cola Rooftop Bar in Disney Springs, you can grab the Holiday Flavors Flight for $14. This flight includes three different drinks that all have different holiday flavors: Coca-Cola Cinnamon, Sprite Cranberry, and a Gingerbread Coca-Cola Float. Holiday Flavors Flight The first drink is the Coca-Cola Cinnamon, which has whipped cream and a wafer roll garnish. The thick layer of whipped cream on the top of this one made it hard to drink at first. We enjoyed the cinnamon crumb topping, and we love a good wafer cookie. We were pleasantly surprised that the cinnamon flavor seemed to mix well with this sweet soda, and we would even prefer a little bit more spice! Coca-Cola Cinnamon The Sprite Cranberry is a refreshing, light contrast to the richer drinks in the flight. The tartness of the cranberry gives this drink an almost dry quality. The cranberry is a good addition to the lemon-lime flavors of Sprite. This one is the least unusual/special of the flight (you can actually get Sprite Cranberry at some grocery stores right now), but we enjoyed it in combination with the other two drinks. Sprite Cranberry The Gingerbread Coca-Cola Float has a thick coating of whipped topping that is mixed into the soda to give it the float creaminess factor. The soda is regular Coke with an added ginger flavor. We enjoyed the warm spice the ginger added to the familiar Coca-Cola flavor and thought it definitely tasted like the holidays. The whipped topping is a little fake for our taste — it didn’t taste like real whipped cream. This is a rich drink. We like the small size of the drink here because we definitely couldn’t drink a larger one. The cookie garnish was surprisingly tasty — thin, crisp, and flavorful! Gingerbread Coca-Cola Float Overall, this is a very fun flight to share with a friend. It definitely has those warm holiday spices that make it taste like Christmas. Those looking for a good mocktail or those who enjoy tasting new soda flavors will especially enjoy this. Tasty! If you aren’t a fan of Christmas-y flavors, or you don’t like to veer from your tried and true favorite soda flavors, you may want to opt for a more traditional Coca-Cola here. Disney attractions shut down all the time. People drop their Minnie ears on the ride tracks, rides break down due to technical difficulties, and sometimes, Cast Members are forced to stop a ride due to inappropriate behavior. “it’s a small world” On November 26th, guests on “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Resort were stuck for an extended period of time. During the temporary closure, one guest exited the boat and caused a scene. According to @AshleyEsqueda on Twitter/X, a man was caught walking around the set of “it’s a small world” without his clothing. The man’s clothing can be seen on the ground of the “it’s a small world” ride in another video from @iheartdisneyland on Instagram. According to @iheartdisneyland, Cast Members were apologetic to those impacted by the incident. Guests were eventually evacuated from the ride. Credit: @iheartdisneyland on Instagram Several sources stated that the man was escorted from the park following the incident. Disneyland has not officially commented on the situation. Ever wish you could recreate some of your favorite Disney dishes at home? Lamplight Lounge While we can’t transport the entire restaurant to our house, we can use Disney’s REAL recipes to create some delicious park-inspired meals! Speaking of Disney food, did we hear “flavor fiesta“? Count us in! Disney just released a recipe for a party-in-your-mouth dish, and it’s plant-based, believe it or not. That’s right, we’re here to bring you the steps to make Plant-Based Potato Flautas from Disney’s California Adventure’s Lamplight Lounge. Check out the irresistible combination of golden, crispy flautas, tomatillo-serrano sauce, vegan piquillo crema, and a lively arugula escabeche salad. And all just in time for the holidays! ©Disney Here are the ingredients you will need to grab: Tomatillo-Serrano Sauce 4 small tomatillos (enough to make 1 cup), peeled and washed 2 serrano chiles, stem removed 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh garlic 1/2 avocado (3 tablespoons) 1/4 cup spinach 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup canola oil Vegan Piquillo Crema 1/2 cup silken tofu 1/4 cup chopped piquillo peppers 2 tablespoons lime juice 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 tablespoon freshly chopped cilantro 1 tablespoon roasted garlic puree 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Arugula Escabeche Salad 1 cup arugula 1 Fresno pepper, sliced into thin rings 8 thin slices of red onion 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh cilantro 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste Potato Flautas 1 pound Yukon Gold potatoes (about 4 potatoes) 1 tablespoon minced serrano pepper, more if you prefer spicy 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika 1 tablespoon coarse salt 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper 12 (6-inch) corn tortillas Canola oil, for frying For Serving 1 cup soy chorizo Tomatillo-Serrano Sauce Potato Flautas Vegan Piquillo Crema Arugula Escabeche Salad Now, let’s dive into the steps to make this dish! For Tomatillo-Serrano Sauce: Place tomatillos and serrano chiles in a saucepan, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 to 8 minutes or until softened. Drain and place in blender Add garlic, avocado, spinach, and salt and puree until smooth. Slowly drizzle in oil with a blender running on low speed. For Piquillo Crema: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use. For Arugula Escabeche Salad: Toss arugula, peppers, onion, and cilantro in a bowl. Drizzle with lime juice and season with salt and pepper. For Potato Flautas: Peel potatoes and cut into cubes. Place in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then simmer until potatoes are fork tender, about 10 minutes. Do not cover. Drain and cool the potatoes. Mash until creamy, and add serrano pepper, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Warm tortillas and evenly portion filling in each, about 2 tablespoons each. Roll and close with toothpicks, 2 in each roll, spaced evenly apart. With caution, heat enough oil to come 1 inch up the sides of a heavy pan. When oil is 350°F, carefully place flautas in oil and fry until golden, about 4 minutes. Continue working in batches, removing from pan and draining on paper towels. Remove toothpicks. To Serve: While flautas are frying, sauté chorizo in a small frying pan until crisp. Equally divide Tomatillo-Serrano Sauce among 4 serving platters. Place 3 Potato Flautas on top in each platter and top flautas with soy chorizo. Drizzle with Vegan Piquillo Crema and top with a little Arugula Escabeche Salad. Lamplight Lounge Enjoy! If you’re near Disneyland Resort, you can always stop by Lamplight Lounge in California Adventure and leave the cooking up to the chefs. And don’t forget about the Festival of Holidays! If you’re looking for a unique souvenir, you can’t beat shopping at World Showcase in EPCOT. Norway Pavilion Each country has its own souvenir shop with items that were actually made in that country. You can get some gorgeous Venetian masks in Italy, elaborate cuckoo clocks in Germany, and beautiful hand fans in China. Well, we just found a super unique souvenir in EPCOT that we might just have to drop SERIOUS cash on. We’ve walked by this little guy a few times in EPCOT, but we just have to share him with you. Just look at him! It’s just such a fun little guy, right? He looks like he belongs in A Christmas Carol, right? This little guy is both a nutcracker AND a clock, which makes him quite a useful souvenir. Useful souvenirs are always a good buy, right? Are we trying to justify a ridiculous purchase? Noooo…. A nutcracker clock Well, this charming little Dickens-esque souvenir will set you back $399. We found him in the Weinkeller shop in the Germany Pavilion. Granted, he was probably made with love and care somewhere in Germany, so that makes him unique and unlike anything else you’ll find in Disney World. That could make him worth the cost. You’d certainly have to pack him carefully in your luggage, although you can ask at some Disney shops if they will ship your souvenir home to you, as long as you’re willing to pay the shipping fee. You don’t want the ghost of Christmas Past coming back to haunt you over a broken nutcracker souvenir, after all! Weinkeller So, the next time you’re in EPCOT, be sure to visit all the FUN shops in the World Showcase. You never know where you may find a unique souvenir. The clocks in the Germany Pavilion make great home decor but could also be great gifts! Stay tuned to DFB for more. When are you headed to Disney World next? When it comes to staying on Dinsey World property, there are so many things you may not know! Let’s Check In! Luckily, it never hurts to ask questions. We learn new things about the parks and hotels constantly– and we are there EVERY DAY. We want you to learn from our experiences, so we compiled a list of what you should ask as you’re checking in to your hotel at Walt Disney World! When it comes to check-in, there are no dumb questions. Whether you’re a Disney World novice or someone who goes yearly — things are always changing, and it is always good to ask about things you’re unsure of. Grand Floridian Front Desk Now, let’s dive in! 1. What time is Early Theme Park Entry and/or Extended Evening Hours? When it comes to things happening in the parks, the Cast Members at your hotel may not have ALL of the answers, but they know a LOT about the parks and resorts! Since Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours happen pretty often in Disney World, Cast Members are the people to go to with any questions. Animal Kingdom During Extended Evening Hours! If you’re unsure what the difference is between the two, we got you! Early Theme Park Entry is for guests staying on Disney World property or at select good neighbor hotels. The parks open early for those guests, but the times can vary from day to day, depending on the park hours. Extended Evening Hours are ONLY available to guests who are staying at a Disney Delxue Resort, so make sure you ask what you’re eligible for at check-in to get all of the details for your trip! 2. What are the hotel activities? When staying at a Disney World hotel, there are a ton of activities right at your resort. It is always good practice to ask about what activities are happening and when so you don’t miss something you want to do! Some hotels have movie nights under the stars, arcades, and MORE. Make sure you ask about what is happening when you check in so you can stay in the loop! Movie Under the Stars Schedule If you plan on using the hotel’s amenities, like the pool or food court, make sure you ask about hours if you’re unsure of when things open or close. 3. Are there any special events happening while I’m here? It feels like there is always some sort of special event happening at Disney World. If you’re curious about what events could be happening during your trip, ask away! A lot of after-hours parties require a special ticket to enter, and we recommend getting them EARLY since they can sell out quickly. Magic Kingdom During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! However, there may be some special events or other things happening at the parks that the Cast Members at the hotel know about! 4. Do you have any pinboards? Who said pin trading is just for the parks and Disney Springs?! Not us! When checking in, ask a Cast Member if they have a pinboard nearby. They usually have one at the check-in desk for pin trading. Pin trading board Make sure you have your pins out and ready! You never know what you might find. 5. What are my transportation options? There are a few different methods of transportation around Walt Disney World! Not all hotels have the same options, so it is always good to see what your options are when you’re checking in. You don’t want to spend time wandering around looking for the buses or the Skyliner when those are precious moments when you could be in the park! Disney Skyliner After you ask what your options are and where they are located, be sure to see if they know approximately how long it takes for you to get from your hotel to the parks. Like we said, these are precious moments! 6. Can I upgrade or change my room? While we recommend doing this prior to your arrival, it is still possible to ask when you check in! Whether you want a room upgrade, a different view, or to be closer to transportation — this is the time to ask! Lion King Room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Remember that upgrades will come at an increased cost, so plan accordingly if it is something you hope to ask about. 7. Is this room wheelchair/ECV accessible? When it comes to booking your rooms prior to your trip, the Disney website should note which rooms are accessible. However, things happen (and injuries happen), so you may not have needed one at the time of booking. ECV rental in Disney World Be sure to ask the Cast Member at check-in if your room is accessible or if you can switch to one that is! 8. What time is checkout? Disney has a lot of plans in the works, and some of them we accidentally forget all about. Magic Kingdom We’re not forgetting about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Summer House on the Lake in Disney Springs any time soon, but do you remember back in July when Disney told us we were getting a scratch-and-sniff adventure in Storybook Circus with literally no other details? Well, we’ve got a small update for you! In case you missed it, Disney told us that Storybook Circus would be getting a family-friendly interactive scratch-and-sniff activity in Storybook Circus at…some point in time. Storybook Circus Disney also said it would be partnering with Scentsy for the project, and now we’ve spotted additions of the Scentsy name on the Dumbo signs around the area. Scentsy sign added We still haven’t heard from Disney exactly when we can expect this addition, but now we know they’re working on bringing it to life. And another one! We’ll be sure to keep you all updated on the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB! See what huge park expansions are coming to Disney World in 2024! There are a lot of things to consider when you book an advance dining reservation in Disney World. ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort First, you have to figure out WHERE you want to eat and be ready to book the reservation 60 days in advance of the first day of your Disney World trip. Then you’ll have to make sure your itinerary leaves you plenty of time to get to your reservation, especially considering that there may be penalties for missing it. But there may be one thing you’re not even thinking about when you book a reservation near Magic Kingdom. This comes after we had an eye-opening experience recently. Here’s the thing: you may want to re-think making an advance dining reservation anywhere in the Magic Kingdom area — including at the Magic Kingdom-area resorts — on nights that have Evening Extended Hours. Magic Kingdom Extended Evening Hours presents a unique problem So here’s the situation. We had an experience recently that made us realize that this is a real issue. We were leaving Disney’s Contemporary Resort one evening around 9PM. Now, 9PM is when Extended Evening Hours usually happen, and this was a night that Extended Evening Hours were happening at Magic Kingdom. Contemporary Resort Monorail Well, the line for the Monorail was VERY long because everyone was headed to Magic Kingdom for the evening. That’s because guests staying at the Monorail Resorts in the Magic Kingdom area all get access to Extended Evening Hours. We ended up having to wait 45 minutes for the Monorail. If we’d had a dining reservation at any of those resorts around that time, we would have certainly missed it. Citricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We found that the rush for the Monorail was very similar to the rush at the end of the evening when leaves Magic Kingdom — yes, it was that chaotic. Honestly, we think it might be a good idea to keep this in mind if you want to make reservations at any of the three Monorail resorts, including Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This could also be a problem if you’ve booked a reservation at that time for an EPCOT restaurant. California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Our advice is to check Magic Kingdom’s hours and Extended Evening Hours on the Disney World calendar before committing to reservations in the area, especially if your plans involve using the Monorail.
