There are so many BIG things coming to Disney parks around the world in 2024! ©Disney We know 2023 is not over yet, and we still have some big things to look forward to before the year ends — but it doesn’t hurt to look forward to what 2024 is going to bring. Back in October, Disney announced the opening date for the newest port coming to Tokyo DisneySea, Fantasy Springs. This new land expansion will bring three new themed lands to DisneySea for guests to explore: Frozen Kingdom, Rapunzel’s Forest, and Peter Pan’s Neverland. We just got new information about ticketing to see this new area… so let’s dive in! Who wouldn’t want to be able to step into this land of fantasy and wonder? Well, we have the details about what you NEED to know if you’re planning to take a trip to Tokyo DisneySea and want to make a stop to experience Fantasy Springs. Guests who visit Tokyo DisneySea will have the option to purchase a One-Day Passport: Fantasy Springs Magic ticket. This ticket is available for guests who are staying at the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel or guests who booked an eligible Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package plan. ©Disney Guests who purchase this ticket will be able to use a priority access entrance when getting in line for attractions, a.k.a. you get shorter wait times! There is no need to specify a return time to come back to the attraction to get in line; just hop into the line when you see fit, and you’ll get a reduced wait time since this line is just for the 1-day passport holders. ©Disney With this passport, not only are you able to spend time at DisneySea, but you can enter Fantasy Springs anytime during the park’s operating hours — so you truly get the best of both worlds. In a little over six months, Tokyo DisneySea will be welcoming an all-new port with three new lands! ©Disney Disney has confirmed a few things about the new port, Fantasy Springs, but there is still a lot that we will have to wait to discover. Fantasy Springs will open on June 6th, 2024 and we’re very eager to explore it! Since we’re like kids, on a road trip to Disney World, who just can’t wait til we get there, we’ve taken a deep dive into the concept art to pick out what we think might be coming! Before we jump into the concept art, let’s, first, take a look at what Disney has officially confirmed for Fantasy Springs. First, we know there will be three themed lands– Frozen Kingdom, Rapunzel’s Forest, and Peter Pan‘s Neverland. ©Disney Disney has also confirmed rides and restaurants within each of the three lands. In Frozen Kingdom, we’ll be able to ride Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey and enjoy food at the Royal Banquet of Arendelle and Oaken’s OK Foods. ©Disney In Rapunzel’s Forest, you’ll be able to take a boat ride on Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival and eat at the infamous Snuggly Duckling. ©Disney And in Neverland, you can ride Peter Pan’s Neverland Adventure and Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggy. Then head over to Lookout Cookout to grab a bite. ©Disney There will also be an all-new Fantasy Springs Hotel! The hotel will actually be right INSIDE the park. It will have two room options– 56 luxury rooms located in the “Grand Chateau” and 419 deluxe rooms located in the “Fantasy Chateau.” In each location, there will be different room types that sleep a different number of people. They will also have different theming in the rooms. ©Disney For reservations at the hotel from June 6th through June 23rd, you’ll be able to book on February 2nd, 2024! And if you’re looking for rooms past June 23rd, you and start booking on March 3rd, 2024. ©Disney Ok, so all of that is CONFIRMED by Disney. But what else could we see in each of these lands and at the hotel? Disney might have given us some clues in the concept art! (DISCLAIMER: These are just speculations based on the concept art. These ideas are NOT confirmed by Disney.) ©Disney Let’s start with the hotel. Fantasy Springs Hotel will have two areas– Grand Chateau and Fantasy Chateau. In the Grand Chateau, you’ll be able to pick from the Alcove Room (sleeps four people in double beds), the Terrace Room (sleeps four people in double beds), and the Grand Terrace Room (sleeps four people in double beds). According to the concept art, these rooms look very luxurious. They appear to have less Disney-theming and are very fancy-looking. ©Disney The Fantasy Chateau rooms, however, will feature Disney characters like Rapunzel, Bambi, and more! There will be four types of rooms based on location in the building– Bay Area Side, Hotel Entrance Side, Rose Courtside, and Spring Side. They will be either Superior or Deluxe options. The concept art for these rooms still looks very fancy, but you can see the much more “Disney” style in the art. ©Disney The overall buildings of the hotel look amazing! The style is very Disney-esque. There’s a neat water fountain featuring the brooms from Fantasia with what could be Mickey directing them to spill their buckets. Overall, it’s a very glamorous design for the hotel! It will be very cool to walk out of the lobby and be right in the park. ©Disney Next, we’ll jump into the Frozen Kingdom concept art! In the background of the Frozen Kingdom concept art, you’ll notice the snowy mountain peak. Disney has recently given us insight that we will actually be able to see Anna’s ice castle amid the snow on the mountain. ©Disney In the new World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disney, there are two areas– the forest and the village. If we look at the concept art here for Frozen Kingdom, it looks like we may see that same concept coming to Tokyo! This could mean a similar show may be coming to Frozen Kingdom just like in World of Frozen’s forest. It certainly looks like we’ll get to feel immersed in the village and become one of the villagers here! ©Disney Now, let’s dive into Rapunzel’s Forest! We’re so excited to see Rapunzel’s tower in the design! In the movie, the tower is off in a forest in a secluded and secret opening, so we’re eager to see if they have an area around the tower somewhat similar to that. ©Disney It also looks like you’ll be able to make your way to some parts of the village, Corona, where the boat ride and Snuggly Duckling will most likely be located. It would also be lots of fun to interact with the villagers in this land, too. The movie shows them dancing and braiding hair, so maybe some of those concepts will also be included! ©Disney Then, onto Peter Pan’s Neverland, where we will never grow up! Of course, here we can see Captain Hook’s ship docked at a port in a central lake. How cool would it be to be able to explore the infamous ship, the Jolly Roger?! You can also see Skull Rock and other iconic areas from the original movie. ©Disney In the concept art for Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggy, it looks like we’ll be in a garden of sorts. This could be over in the top right-hand corner of the land concept art, where you can see tall sunflowers and other garden-like structures. It certainly seems like things will be larger than life in this area! ©Disney As all of us Disney fans know, Disney doesn’t do anything small. Now that we have experienced Hong Kong Disney’s World of Frozen, we have some big expectations for these three new lands. But it seems like Disney is working on an all-new level. This gives us hope that Fantasy Springs is going to be quite wonderful. Keep following DFB for more Disney updates! Bookings Open SOON for Disney’s NEW Fantasy Springs Hotel! Disney World restaurants love to have some kind of schtick. Flying Fish From over-the-top drinks, to character-shaped butter, to picking on visitors like they’re your family members, we’ve seen it all! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. When it comes to beloved Magic Kingdom rides, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is at the top of the list for many. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Located in Frontierland, the western ghost town-themed coaster is a great choice for those looking for a family-friendly ride. Plus, it’s one of our FAVORITE places to catch the Magic Kingdom fireworks each night. If you’ll be visiting Disney World in January, though, you might not be able to ride the attraction… According to Disney’s website, Big Thunder Mountain will CLOSE on January 16th for a brief refurbishment. Big Thunder Mountain The good news is that it is set to re-open not even a week later on January 21st. It’ll re-open soon after! Planned refurbishments like this are totally normal and are a GOOD THING, as the refurbs are what keep the attractions in tip-top shape and looking (and the tracks feeling) brand new. Big Thunder Mountain So… What can you expect if you’ll be visiting Magic Kingdom during this closure? Well, one less ride can often mean an increase in wait times throughout the park. With Big Thunder closed, there will be no open rides in Frontierland, so the crowds will move elsewhere in the park. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Just be extra patient, and if you’re able to, see if you can fit a ride on Big Thunder into your trip, if it aligns with the days the attraction is set to be open. We’ll continue to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing. Looking for more 2024 closures at Disney World? Click here! EPCOT has had a BIG week! Dreamers Point On December 5th, an all-new land opened in EPCOT, allowing visitors access to the World Celebration Gardens. Not only that, but a new Walt Disney statue debuted, Luminous: Symphony of Us lit up the skies for the first time, AND we got to check out the return of the glowing sidewalks! Only one thing was missing… the new festival area! CommuniCore Hall and Plaza were meant to debut in late 2023, but we found out in early December that the new festival areas would not be available until 2024. While we were disappointed, we were holding on to hope that it would be complete in EARLY 2024 — based on the visual state of the construction. Let’s check it out! CommuniCore Hall is visible over the walls that line the World Celebration Garden area. Finally, the building is starting to look like the concept art! It’s starting to come together! Previously, we were only able to see the building’s frame, which, of course, was a bit distracting from the beautiful area that is the new gardens. There was some of the white paneling, but it was very sporadic. Now, though, the building is almost completely covered with siding that resembles the design of Spaceship Earth! It looks awesome While it isn’t yet finished, we think it already looks so much better with what literal siding has been put on the building. We can also already tell how much better it will “flow” with the area and EPCOT’s theming as a whole. ©Disney While we still don’t know an exact date regarding the area’s opening, we’ll let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop with other Disney news and updates. Looking for more EPCOT news? Click here! There’s a NEW restaurant in Disney World! EET by Maneet Chauhan There have been quite a few dining additions to Disney World in the past few years, and we’ve still got more to come. But the most recent addition is EET by Maneet Chauhan! This new Indian quick service spot is located in Disney Springs, and we stopped by on opening day to check it out. That’s right folks, it’s time for a FULL REVIEW! Atmosphere The first thing that you should know about EET is that it’s kind of tucked away. It’s located in The Marketplace section, right next to the 12 Days of Christmas store and the back entrance to Disney Springs. But that location certainly didn’t stop the crowds from showing up on opening day! There was a line outside of the store well before 11AM. Look at that queue! Once you head inside, there’s a wall of merchandise for the restaurant. You can peruse this while you wait to order your food. Merchandise Ordering takes place at a counter manned by employees. There’s a large menu board hanging above the registers so you can decide what you want, but they also handed out menus while I was waiting in line. Service Counter Once I placed my order, I was given a little marker to place on my table so they could bring my food to my seat. The service was great here! Buzzer There are two main dining rooms, as well as some outdoor tables. Main dining room I personally preferred the sunroom area — the sunlight was nice and bright, and there were fewer tables so it was a little quieter. Sunroom Back near the ordering counter, there’s also a self-serve drink station. They have Coke products here. Drink Station And you can partially see into the kitchen — how cool! Preparing the food Now that you have the grand tour, let’s talk about the menu. Menu The menu has quite a few options, and they’ve got a little of something for every taste! In the Sharables section, you’ll find a bread service, a Tandoori Chicken Poutine (we were really excited about that!), D.I.Y. Pani Puri, a Walking Taco, and samosas. ©Disney If you love naan, then you need to check out their pizzas and breads section! You can choose from two pizzas or three types of naan. ©Disney Looking to dine on the lighter side? The menu is also home to three different salad options. ©Disney The build-your-own-bowl section is for those who like a bit of customization with their food. You get to choose your base, kebab, and sauce. ©Disney There are also several additions available. ©Disney For the little ones, there’s Naan Pizza, Sliders, and Chicken Fingers. ©Disney And of course, we have to mention dessert! They have a Gulab Juman Cheesecake and a Chocolate & Strawberry Naan. For beverages, choose from a few different alcoholic options, as well as a selection of yogurt lassis. ©Disney So what all did I order? Brace yourself, it’s a LOT of food. Eats I got a full spread with a variety of eats and drinks. I wanted to really get the taste for the new place! Let’s dive in to the full list. The full spread! Let’s start out with the sharables. You know that we love a good bread service here at DFB, so when I saw the EET Bread Service with Pimento Whipped Paneer on the menu, I knew I’d have to try it! It comes with buttered naan, garlic naan, pimento whipped paneer cheese, masala vegetable sticks, Indian pickle, coriander honey, and various chutneys. Bread Service The naan was buttery and the garlic piece had a rich garlic flavor — both absolutely delicious. But what about the various dips? First I tried the coriander honey, which was very sweet with a nice herbiness underneath. This was one of my favorites! Very honey forward The green chutney was earthy and fresh. There was a tiny bit of spice, and a hint of brightness, similar to lime. Very bright! The next dip was red and more unique in texture — rather hard to scoop. This one was pepper-forward and warm and rich in taste. It wasn’t really spicy, though. Not my favorite, but still good! The next chutney was much runnier in consistency. It was sweet and earthy and reminded me of the flavors in butter chicken. A much runnier consistency The final chutney was jelly-like and very sticky. This one was also pretty earthy, but very robust — I wasn’t expecting it based on the look alone. The jelly! But that wasn’t all! There’s also a pimento whipped paneer that comes with the bread service. I was hoping for a pimento cheese-like flavor here, but it was much lighter and more delicate. There wasn’t much cheese flavor at all, but it was fairly creamy. The full bread service is $18, which in my personal opinion, is a bit on the pricey side…especially since you only get two pieces of naan. It was really delicious overall though, and I would recommend it to bread service fanatics! The Pimento Whipped Paneer But the bread service wasn’t the only starter I got! I also picked up the highly-anticipated Tandoori Chicken Poutine for $14. It’s made with chaat masala fries, tandoori chicken, white cheddar curds, and rich tomato butter sauce. Tandoori Chicken Poutine The fries were fresh and well-seasoned, and there was a nice brightness from the sauce. It’s wonderfully savory and very cheesy. The portion size is great with lots of chicken and I honestly wanted to eat the whole thing before I even tried any of the other items. This was probably the best thing I ate at EET! A forkful of fries Another item you’ll find on the sharables menu is the D.I.Y. Pani Puri. It’s $12 and comes with crispy semolina puffs, black garbanzo beans, potatoes, tamarind, date chutney, and mint cilantro water. Some assembly required You assemble these yourself by stuffing the chutney inside the puffs and then pouring a few drops of the water on top. It was fairly spicy, but there’s a really great mix of textures here with crunchy, soft, and chewy. It’s very bright. While I was dining, one of the restaurant’s supervisors came over and told me the backstory behind this dish — it’s one of Maneet’s favorites! A filled puff The last savory item I needed to try was the Spicy Green Chili Naan. It’s $6 and topped with green chilies, cilantro, and clarified butter. Warning — this is ACTUALLY spicy. Spicy Green Chili Naan The chili tends to fall more towards the center of the naan so it gets hotter as you eat inward. It’s a slow, strong heat. But the naan itself is soft and chewy — just the way it’s meant to be! A piece of the naan Moving on to sweet treats, I grabbed BOTH of the desserts on the menu. The Chocolate & Strawberry Naan is $8 and topped with chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, white chocolate, diced strawberries, and fresh mint. Dessert! It looks basically like a dessert pizza when it comes out. Of all the items I tried that day, this was my least favorite. It’s essentially topped with a boatload of syrup, which makes it really messy to eat and doesn’t give the most sophisticated flavors possible. I really enjoyed the fresh strawberries and the mint added a nice brightness, but I think this would be better executed if it were topped with a chocolate spread and strawberry jam instead of sauces. Not my favorite thing I had However, the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake is a MUST! It’s a $9 NY-style cheesecake, made with gulab jamun, strawberries, saffron, and cardamon. CHEEEEESECAKE It was SO creamy and deliciously cheesy in all the right ways. The fruit on top was almost candied and had a nice chewy sweetness. The sauce that topped it all was fruity and made a great complement to the cake. If the poutine wins the meal, this was a close #2. Look at that scoop! But I didn’t go through the whole meal without beverages! I also picked up two drinks. First, let’s talk about the Mango Yogurt Lassi. It’s $5 and comes served in a little bottle. This basically tasted like I was drinking mango yogurt, and I certainly wasn’t mad about it. It was lightly sweetened, and great for cooling your mouth after you’ve eaten something spicy. Very creamy! Mango Lassi The other drink was a holiday season special — the Yule Chai Greeting. It’s made with EET signature spiced chai, whipped cinnamon cream, toasted marshmallow, holiday sprinkles, and topped with a candy cane. The chai flavor wasn’t incredibly strong in this drink, and that was exacerbated by the ice melting. If you want a strong chai this might not be for you, but if the flavor is a bit overwhelming, you could probably handle this. I didn’t get much of the cinnamon cream or toasted marshmallow, but it was a nice drink nonetheless. Yule Chai Greeting So how does EET stack up? Overall In the end, I had a really good experience at this restaurant. I had positive commentary on almost everything I ate, and the wide variety on the menu would be great for even those who aren’t huge fans of Indian food. Some of the items are really inventive and fun (the poutine and cheesecake in particular!), and I think it’s a great stop for a quick meal in Disney Springs. Dining area If you asked me about the must-get items, I would recommend the poutine and the cheesecake, as well as the bread service (if there’s room in the budget). The portions on all these dishes were pretty decent, so you get some good value for your buck. Nosh or Not? Enjoy some fast-casual Indian cuisine if… You’re a big fan of Indian food. There aren’t too many places to get Indian cuisine in Disney World, so if it’s one of your favorites, this is a great place to start. You want to try something unique in Disney Springs. If you’re already in the area and you’re tired of basic American fare, this is a place I would highly recommend! It’s definitely not your typical burger or chicken place. You’re staying at Saratoga Springs or coming in the back entrance. If you’re staying at Saratoga Springs or riding the boats down the Sassagoula to get to Disney Springs, this restaurant will be right next to your entrance! Skip out on this new spot if… You’re not trying to do the full tour of Disney Springs. If you’re coming to the shopping and dining complex by bus or via parking garage, this is a bit of a hike away from the main entrances. If you’re not planning on walking all the way to the back, you might want to choose a closer restaurant. You don’t like any Indian food or related flavors. While EET offers a wide variety of options, it still might not be for you if you’re strongly opposed to Indian flavors. You’re hoping for a thorough dining experience. EET is a pretty basic counter service experience. If you would like to have a long sit-down meal, this probably isn’t the right place. Bread service That’s a wrap on my first-ever visit to EET! If you’re heading there soon, we’d love to hear your thoughts. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for the latest dining reviews and Disney World news. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World in 2024, you’ve probably already begun your research. Welcome to Disney World! You’ve probably started looking at dates, travel arrangements, and costs. But there are a few things you might not have thought of before heading to the state of Florida. While Disney has many of their own rules and policies that you’ll need to follow on your trip (like no running in the parks), Florida has many rules that will apply to you, even as out-of-state guests. So to ensure you stay out of trouble on your vacation, here are 5 Florida laws that you’ll need to obey. You might not normally think of these laws if they’re not relevant where you’re from. But in Florida, these are important to know! It’s Illegal to “Affect the Peace and Quiet” We’re all just trying to have a magical time in Disney World. That means you’ll need to behave in a manner that allows others to enjoy their time. According to Florida Statute 877.03, it is a misdemeanor to “commit such acts as are of a nature to corrupt the public morals, or outrage the sense of public decency, or affect the peace and quiet of persons who may witness them, or engage in brawling or fighting, or engage in such conduct as to constitute a breach of the peace or disorderly conduct.” We all have the right to have fun! This law seems to cover A LOT of different possible scenarios. Basically, just have a good time and have common human decency. Be aware that there are lots of other people around you just trying to have fun in the most magical place on Earth. Our biggest tip here– don’t be like the naked guy in Disneyland! Don’t Feed the Alligators There aren’t too make places in the United States where we would have to tell you about this law, but in Florida, it’s a real concern. Yes, wild alligators do live in Disney World, and yes, it is possible for you to see them. So if that does happen, make sure you don’t feed them! Alligator at Disney’s Animal Kingdom This is a real law, not just a Disney World rule. Florida Statute 372.667 makes “feeding or enticement of alligators or crocodiles unlawful.” The most likely places you may run into these guys are in or near any body of water. So it might just be a good idea to keep your distance from the lakes unless you have a legitimate purpose for going near them. No feeding the wildlife This law is in place for a very good reason. If alligators are consistently fed by humans, they could stop being scared of humans and instead see humans as a food source. It’s really a good rule of thumb to just not feed wild animals in general. It can harm their ability to survive in the wild without the support of humans OR you could become their next meal (as such with alligators). Alligator in Animal Kingdom But don’t worry, the captive gators in Animal Kingdom are getting fed regularly as required! But we don’t suggest trying to feed Ginger the crocodile on the Jungle Cruise, either. Remember, Ginger snaps. Crocs on the Jungle Cruise Stay Off Your Phone While Driving Most U.S. states have laws pertaining to phones and driving. In some states, it’s illegal to use your phone at all (talk or text) unless you use a Bluetooth device. Florida’s state laws prohibit the use of your phone for texting while driving. Don’t text and drive! Florida Statute 316.305 states, “A person may not operate a motor vehicle while manually typing or entering multiple letters, numbers, symbols, or other characters into a wireless communications device or while sending or reading data on such a device for the purpose of non-voice interpersonal communication.” So this prohibits more than just texting; it also includes any form of typing you may do on your phone such as dialing a phone number or even choosing a contact. Don’t use Genie while driving, either! It reads in a way that sounds like talking on your phone is fine as long as you didn’t do the dialing while operating the vehicle. So answering a call or dialing the number before driving could technically be legal. It might just be better to be safe than sorry, though. Staying off your phone while driving is safer for everyone! It’s Illegal to Have an Open Container in Your Vehicle This law may sound like a no-brainer. But in some states having an open container in your vehicle while operating it is perfectly legal. In Florida, that is NOT the case. Don’t get caught with an open container in your car! Florida Statute 316.1936 very simply states, “Possession of open containers of alcoholic beverages in vehicles is prohibited” This law covers both the operator and passengers of a vehicle moving or stationary on a road. There are some exceptions to this rule, but in general, if you’re driving your own personal vehicle with a regular driver’s license, you cannot have an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Keep the alcoholic drinks out of your car! And, please, don’t drink and drive. You Need to Have Your Headlights on in the Rain It rains all. the. time. in Florida. If you’re planning your trip but have never been to Florida before, you’ll need to be prepared for that. This rule of mother nature applies 12 months out of the year. And if you’re driving to Disney World, you must have your lights on if it’s raining. Rainy day in Magic Kingdom Florida law 316.217 states that a vehicle operator is required to use their lights “during any rain, smoke or fog.” Regardless of whether it’s day or night, if it’s raining, smokey, or foggy, you’ll need to turn those headlights on! Not doing so could end with you being fined. Get those headlights on when it looks like this outside! Whether you’re coming to Disney World from a different state or a different country, these five laws are good to know and abide by! “But wait, there’s more!”– Billy Mays. Remember when everyone was trying to compete with Chick-fil-A for the best chicken sandwich? Chicken Guy! Popeyes, Mcdonald’s, and many other fast food joints came out left and right with their new spicy chicken sandwiches. But there’s one restaurant that not even Chick-fil-A could stand a chance against. The Guy Fieri chicken restaurant in Disney Springs puts them all to shame with its mouth-watering chicken meals. And now, they’ve come out with a few NEW options for us to enjoy! Of course, if you head over to Chicken Guy in Disney Springs, you can enjoy a CG classic chicken sandwich with all the fixins. This OG sandwich is bound to have you licking your lips. Inside Chicken Guy But why have a classic when you can opt for one of the three new, souped-up sandwiches they’ve just begun offering! While on a trip to Disney Springs, we noticed the new Hot Honey, Buffalo Ranch, and Buffalo Mac ‘n’ Cheese sandwiches appeared on the menu. NEW Chicken Guy Sammies! The Hot Honey sandwich is a chicken sandwich with Nashville hot honey, American slaw, pickles, and HOT tenders. The Buffalo Ranch sandwich comes with shredded lettuce, buffalo, and buttermilk ranch. And the Buffalo Mac ‘n’ Cheese option has mac ‘n’ cheese, smoked bacon, buffalo, SMC, and garlic parmesan. Cool like Guy We’re excited to see new sandwiches coming to Chicken Guy after we had a bit of a breakdown last week when we learned they had gotten rid of over HALF their sauce options! The restaurant used to offer over 20 different sauces (which was a fun selling point for them), but now they only offer 10. At least they’re bringing other new items to the menu after they broke our hearts. That’s it? These sandwiches look huge and mouthwatering! You know we’ll be back to grab one. A lot is going on in the political world of Disney this week. Reedy Creek This week a judge is set to make a decision regarding the Ron DeSantis v. Disney lawsuit. The feud that has been enduring for over a year, may come to an end soon. Also this week, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) board (which was completely appointed by DeSantis) was scheduled to have its final board meeting of the year. But it seems, amidst all that is going on, that has now changed. A CFTOD Board of Supervisors Meeting that was scheduled for December 13th, 2023 has now been CANCELLED. On the district’s website, they state “All public hearings and other agenda items previously scheduled for the December 13th, 2023 Board of Supervisors meeting are continued to the regular CFTOD Board of Supervisors meeting set for Wednesday, January 24th, 2024.” ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream This cancellation comes around the same time that DeSantis’s lawyers have requested a dismissal of the lawsuit filed against them by Disney. The request states that Disney lacks any grounds for their claim of retaliation against their freedom of speech. They say the governor does not have the power to enforce any laws that changed the government structure or shift control of the government from Disney supporters to the appointees. Obtained via ClickOrlando Livestream Not only is there a lot going on at the federal level for the CFTOD board (who are also named in the lawsuit), but they are also in their own battle with Disney at the state level for control over the district. They are also facing serious doubt about Supervisor Bridget Ziegler’s future on the board as she is currently in the midst of abuse allegations against her husband, Christian Ziegler. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Not only is the board dealing with several lawsuits, but also the fact that employees have been leaving the district at a rampant pace. recently. Nearly 10% of the district’s employees have left stating things like the board is “unqualified and incompetent” and that the district is “no longer functional” in their exit surveys. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board And just in December, the board learned of the $2 million of back taxes owed on the complimentary Disney World park passes that had recently been given out to employees of the district. It is a busy and uncertain time for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board, so it’s no surprise this meeting has been canceled and the topics postponed until January. A NEW tiki mug is now available at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto in Disney World! Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto in Disney World Trader Sam’s tiki mugs are popular collectibles for Disney fans, and we usually see pretty high demand when new mugs become available. The Ursula Tiki Mug first appeared at Disneyland’s Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, but now it’s available on the East Coast, too! The Ursula Tiki Mug is available now at the Grog Grotto. To get yours, you need to head to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Follow the signs in the lobby to the Grotto, where you can pick up a wristband. Signs in the lobby Note that wristband distribution does not begin until 12PM EST each day, so you don’t want to be too much earlier than that. Wristband acquired! Once you have your wristband, you have your reservation to pick up the new tiki mug. You can either wait in line outside at Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace or join the waitlist to go inside Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. Both open at 3PM, and you need a wristband either way if you want to buy the mug. Tiki Terrace When we stopped by a little after 2PM, there was already a short line for the Tiki Terrace, but the crowds weren’t nearly as bad as they were for the Haunted Mansion Tiki Muge we got a while back. Already a line It’s likely faster to get your mug outside, as the Grog Grotto already had an hour’s wait to go in after its 3PM opening. Once you order your drink from the bar at Tiki Terrace, you pick up your mug from a table on the right. Mug pick-up You can also order the mug after you’ve been seated in the dining area outside (as long as you have a wristband). Tables The new mug is themed to the villain from The Little Mermaid and is sold with your choice of a specialty beverage. There’s a limit of two mugs per person, per transaction. ©Disney You can pick the “Sign the Scroll” cocktail or the non-alcoholic “Just Your Voice” mocktail. One ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is going to be temporarily CLOSED in early 2024. Animal Kingdom If you’re planning a trip for January of next year, make sure you take note of this closure! According to the Disney World website, Kali River Rapids in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom will be temporarily closed starting on January 8th, 2024. Kali River Rapids We anticipated this closure, as the water ride usually shuts down for refurbishment sometime during the winter months. Since it’s less popular when the weather is chilly, this is a good time for Disney to freshen up the ride. Kali River Rapids Currently, the ride lists normal times for January 7th and then says “finder.schedule.emptySchedule” where times should show up on January 8th. This is likely just an error and will update soon to reflect the closure. ©Disney Right now, we can’t see an end date for the closure (opening times don’t reappear for any of the dates listed on the calendar), but we’ll keep you updated if we find out new information. All of the characters come with their own outfits and accessories that also fit different buddies. New happy meal The first option you could get is Kerwin Frost himself, the “#1 McNugget Buddy Hype Man”! According to McDonald’s, “Voted mayor of Frost Way by unanimous decision, he always supports his Buddies. Perfection isn’t his style, as he recognizes he isn’t perfect himself. Instead, he encourages and champions originality.” ©McDonald’s Another character is Waffutu, who’s known as “The Princess of Positivity.” About this character, McDonald’s says, “She makes dreams come true with her wand. Everywhere she goes in Frost Way, positivity follows. She admires the little things, like flowers—giving her a charm that everyone adores.” ©McDonald’s Uptown Moe has been called “The Local’s Local of Frost Way.” He’s the town mascot and “wears the city on his sleeve.” ©McDonald’s When we got a Kerwin Frost box, we got the Don Bernice character! McDonald’s calls her a “Wise & Witty Stylist” who “creates all of the outfits for the Buddies of Frost Way.” Don Bernice Brrrick is “a self-proclaimed ‘cool’ guy.” He’s “the most adventurous Buddy of Frost Way” with a “cool, confident and energetic” vibe. ©McDonald’s The last option is Darla, the lead singer of the Frostttos! There are quite a few Disney World restaurants that get a bad rap. Cinderella Castle From lounges that people dismiss because of overpriced food to food courts where the menus are sometimes considered “bland,” we’ve heard a plethora of restaurant complaints over the years. But one of the most commonly trash-talked restaurants is located in Magic Kingdom, and its TripAdvisor rating isn’t too hot either! Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is located in (you guessed it!) Town Square in Magic Kingdom, and it’s themed to Lady and the Tramp. At Tony’s they serve Italian food, and they’ve certainly received their fair share of hate comments over the years. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant Currently, Tony’s is sitting at a 3.5/5 on TripAdvisor, which is one of the lower-rated Disney World restaurants on the site. But is it really that bad? Well, I took a trip recently and I’m here to tell you that everything you’ve heard about Tony’s might be WRONG now. Inside the restaurant I stopped by to try out a few new menu items, and while I was at the restaurant, I found out that they’ve recently had a change in chefs. The menu has been revamped a little, and let me tell you — the changes are for the better. I left my visit to the restaurant with a full belly and a very satisfied palate! Seating at Tony’s So what were the highlights? Well, first of all, they now have foot-long mozzarella sticks on the appetizer menu. They’re served with a spicy tomato sauce, but you can get them with classic marinara if you don’t want the heat. They were cheesy, crispy on the outside, and HUGE. I would recommend ordering this just for the novelty, honestly! The spicy sauce IS spicy The other new-ish appetizer I loved was the garlic bread. It comes with a parmesan fondue served on the side, and you can take that cheesy concoction and pour it all over the Jenga tower of bread. Delightful. Delicious tower of garlicky goodness This was probably the highlight of my meal because I really love cheese and fondue and bread, but it would be an awesome appetizer for the table because the portion is pretty large. I would go back again and again just to have this! YUMMM For my entree, I tried one of the new menu items — the Tortellini al Forno. It has cheese and chili, so it’s a nice combination of cheesy and spicy. There was plenty of Italian sausage spread throughout as well. If the other entrees are as delicious as this one, you’re in for a treat! Tortellini al Forno Based on what I’ve seen with the food during my last visit to Tony’s, I think it’s safe to say that this restaurant is back in delicious business, baby! Don’t listen to those online reviews unless they’re from the past few months, because food is constantly changing in Disney World. Here’s to hoping Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is a hit in 2024! Coffee Chillers will be served in a 16oz cup, swirled with a delicious flavor poured with blended iced coffee, and topped with a layer of cold foam. The debuting flavors will be offered in Mexican Chocolate, Caramel Churro, and Spiced Vanilla. Churro Chillers will also be served in a 16oz cup that’s also swirled with similar flavor on the inside and mixed with a blended sweet shake topped with a layer of cold foam and churro crumbles. Their debuting flavors will include Mexican Chocolate, Dulce de Leche Coffee, Wild Strawberry, and Sweet Vanilla. ©Foodbeast The Takeout But would it really be Taco Bell, without an added twist? The Sweet Vanilla Churro Chiller is visually interesting, with its purple tint. All flavors will be available at these select locations for $4.19 for a limited time only while supplies last (excluded from Happier Hour). We’re eager to see how these new coffee beverages wager for Taco Bell and if that helps set them up for success in the future building out more locations to offer these drinks. The Disney World app has been updated, and a few key changes might affect how you use it. My Disney Experience The My Disney Experience app is a pretty handy tool. It allows you to check wait times, make reservations, look at restaurant menus and prices, Mobile Order your food at some restaurants, and view maps of the parks. It also keeps track of all your plans so that you can see what’s coming up for your vacation. Now, part of that planning page has been updated! If you open the My Disney Experience app and click “My Day” next to “Upcoming Plans” (on the home screen), you’ll be taken to the My Day tab on the Disney Genie Service section of the app. This is where you can see upcoming plans, like hotel, dining, and park pass reservations. ©Disney Previously, Park Pass Reservations were displayed here without details of which park you had reservations for. It just said “Park Reservation” on the day that you’d booked one. To get more details, you’d have to click on the reservation, which would take you to another web browser, where you’d need to sign in again to your Disney account, and it was all just a bit of a hassle. The OLD version ©Disney Now, this page has more details, including the date and park for your Park Pass Reservations! The NEW version ©Disney To modify the Park Pass Reservation, you’ll still need to click on it here and go to the web browser, but it’s nice to be able to see everything laid out so you know by a quick glance what your future plans are. Disney’s Hollywood Studios It’s interesting that this change comes so close to January 9th, when Park Pass Reservations will be going away for most ticket types. However, some people will still need to make Park Pass Reservations (such as Annual Passholders), so this update will be helpful for all of them! Learn more about the Park Pass Reservation changes here. Another change that happened with this app update is that Mobile Order has been updated and now allows you to modify your order on the review page. For more details about the Mobile Order change, click here. Mobile Order We’ll be watching for more news from Disney, so stay tuned to DFB! Hey, you! Yeah, you — we’re friends, right? Okay, then we’re gonna be a little bit blunt. Let’s go shopping! WHAT are you still doing paying full price for Disney souvenirs?! In this day and age… in THIS economy? No, no. That just simply won’t do. You see, Dear DFB Reader, you don’t always HAVE to fork out an entire paycheck to feed your Disney obsession (though we’ll admit that sometimes, you do!) and we’re telling you just how you can stop it. Trust us, we know how tempting it is to snatch that souvenir up as soon as you see it. Go ahead, you’re on vacation, right? WRONG! Okay, well, you’re not wrong that you’re on vacation, but you’re wrong if you think you can’t find that souvenir for a better price. It may not always be the case, but sometimes you can find just what you’re looking for — but CHEAPER. FOTH Merch is HERE! Here’s the deal — a ton of Disney park items can be found on the shopDisney website. Of course, there are certain park-exclusive items, but if it’s available on the shopDisney website, then there may be a chance it will go on sale soon. It’s worth it to keep an eye out and you might even find something you didn’t see in the parks you’d like more! ©Disney We also have to mention the Disney Character Warehouse. The Disney Character Warehouse is a Disney retail chain featuring official character toys, clothes, collectibles, and more at outlet prices. Disney Parks operates these locations as liquidation stores for Disney Parks & Resorts merchandise from coast to coast — then it’s all shipped to Florida, where you can find cheap Disney souvenirs that were available in the parks, cruises, or even Aulani at some point. The next time you’re in Disney World, stop by the Character Warehouse for some seriously discounted items! Disney Character Warehouse Did you know that you can also often find a ton of Disney designer items at stores like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx?! It’s true! We’ve seen BaubleBar, Loungefly, and more at these stores. We recently spotted Loungefly bags at Marshall’s for as little as $30. BaubleBar at TJ Maxx You also have the option of shopping at Target and Walmart near the parks. A good majority of the time, these stores have a seriously massive selection of items due to their proximity to the parks. You can find apparel, home and kitchen items, accessories, ears, water bottles, art, coloring books, and so much more at these stores. Not only that, but they’re likely going to be a whole lot cheaper than if you had purchased something similar in the parks. Disney Store at Target Of course, if there’s something specific you or your little one has their heart set on, it may not make sense to wait since there’s no guarantee an item will go on sale or be available somewhere else for cheaper. But, if you’ve got a little flexibility this can be a great way to bring home a souvenir without paying full price! Stay tuned to DFB for more ways to save on your future Disney trips!
