  1. The Fantasy Springs expansion at Tokyo Disneyland will mark the LARGEST expansion the park has seen. ©Disney Set to debut on June 6th, 2024, the all-new Fantasy Springs area will feature rides, attractions, restaurants, and more. What’s even better? Well, the expansion will include a new lodging option — the Fantasy Springs Hotel. We didn’t know much about the hotel other than the fact that it would also open on June 6th, but now, we’ve gotten some NEW details. Fantasy Springs hotel is actually located INSIDE the park. The hotel will feature two options: 56 luxury rooms located within the “Grand Chateau,” and 419 deluxe rooms located inside “Fantasy Chateau.” ©Disney Grand Chateau features a few different room types: the Alcove Room (sleeps four people in double beds), the Terrace Room (sleeps four people in double beds), and the Grand Terrace Room (sleeps four people in double beds.) ©Disney Fantasy Chateau features rooms themed to Disney characters like Rapunzel, Bambi, and more! These rooms are divided into four types based on location in the building: Bay Area Side, Hotel Entrance Side, Rose Courtside, and Spring Side. Within each section of the building, there will be Superior and Deluxe options. ©Disney If you’re looking to book a reservation from June 6th through June 23rd, you’ll be able to book on February 2nd, 2024! Yay! For dates past June 23rd, booking will become available on March 3rd, 2024. After the hotel’s inaugural reservation period, you’ll be able to book up to four months before your travel dates on the Tokyo DisneySea Website. And there you have it! 2. McDonald’s opened a brand new fast-food restaurant chain and you KNOW we were there for it! We’re at CosMc’s! The very first CosMc’s officially opened in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The new fast-food chain is a “small-format, beverage-led concept” (are we the only ones getting Starbucks vibes?). It specializes in bold drinks and tasty treats. The whole idea of this chain is to pull on our nostalgic heartstrings and bring the old character, CosMc, back to Earth. So come with us on our first trip to CosMc’s! When we heard this new location was opening, we knew we had to be there for it (we are a FOOD blog after all). So we headed to CosMc’s! Luckily, we weren’t there on opening day, so the drive-thru line wasn’t as bad as it had been then (people had over an hour-long wait on opening day). Let’s go to CosMc’s! HOT TAKE #1: This isn’t really a fast-food restaurant Our wait was still not what we would consider “fast-food” speed. There were several lanes and each lane had about four cars in it. Then, each lane ended up merging into one lane to grab your food (like most other drive-thru locations). So, we ended up waiting roughly 20 minutes to get through. CosMc’s Drive-thru The menu had a pretty wide variety of options! It was definitely drink-heavy, but it also included several food options like sandwiches, pretzel bites, and ice cream. CosMc’s menu Once you’ve ordered, you wait until the screen directs you to a window. Wait sign Then, when it’s ready, it tells you which window to go to. No more wondering which window they told you only a minute ago, but you were so hungry you completely forgot! It shows you which window to go to! We grabbed several items to try, including a few drinks, a couple of sandwiches, their new McPops, and pretzel bites. Our overall impression was that it was mostly all good! We enjoyed almost every item we ordered. (Don’t worry, a full review is coming!) CosMc’s is different from McDonald’s in that it has much more specialized options such as the Chai Frappe Burst, Popping Pear Drink, Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, and the Spicy Queso Sandwich. Chai Frappe Burst HOT TAKE #2: CosMc’s needs a bigger parking lot or some form of dining room It is also different from McDonald’s because it is a drive-thru ONLY. There is no seating inside the restaurant. This could be no big deal if you’re planning on taking it on the road, anyway. But if you’re hoping to sit down and grab a cup of coffee with a life-long best friend for the first time in six months, this may not be the best place. HOT TAKE #3: Sonic’s layout works better for this kind of drive-thru-only concept It also doesn’t have much of a parking lot. The parking lot it does have is small, and it was closed off the day we visited. Sonic has a similar concept. Not all Sonic’s have indoor seating available, but they at least have drive-up menu spots where you can hang out and enjoy your meal right in your car. That is not the case at CosMc’s. There are no options for a sitting area HOT TAKE #4: Employees might rival Chick-fil-A in friendliness We noticed that everyone working there was super friendly and nice! The restaurant has a fun catchphrase of “have a nice sip” so they say that to you as you drive away. And so you don’t forget it, it’s painted on a wall as you exit. This is certainly cute and fun. And we might be treading in touchy territory, but we would dare to say they might be even more friendly than Chick-fil-A employees! “Have a nice sip!” It’s a fun new concept and the food was pretty good. The fact that there is no seating might be a bit of an issue for some people, but it’s an easy place to grab and go. We’re eager to see when the next locations will open! 3. Even if you HATE the Disney World app, it has a few features that will make your trip significantly easier. Cinderella Castle Long gone are the days where you had to physically walk to a ride to see its wait time — you can simply check My Disney Experience. You can also use it to join virtual queues and view maps. But one of our favorite features? Mobile Order! Mobile Ordering at Disney World quick service restaurants has probably saved us hours in the theme parks cumulatively. We spend quite a bit of time using that particular feature, so any time Disney makes changes to the system, we’re interested in checking them out. What the My Order page looks like now! In the latest update, there are some changes to the “My Order” page in the app. Once you’ve added things to your cart in a Mobile Order, you’ll now be able to change the quantity of items and make modifications. In the photo below, we showed an example of how the price changes when you add more items. When you add items Clicking the trash can button will remove the item from your order. If you click on the “Modify” button, it will take you over to the individual item page. There, you can modify things like your sides. After clicking the modify feature This will make editing your order just a little bit easier on your next trip! Disney made some major changes to Mobile Order earlier this year with how restaurants are listed, so this is a nice little update to add to that. 4. Star Wars fans famously have strong opinions…especially about the three movie trilogies! ©Disney You’ve got your Star Wars purists devoted to the original films, the prequel lovers, and then, the people who became fans because of the sequels released in the 2010s. Movies 7, 8, and 9 are probably the most controversial of the bunch, and it didn’t help that they killed off some fan-favorite characters. But one person in particular is getting a lot of hate for one on-screen death! Adam Driver played the lead role of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo in the Star Wars sequel films, and many people praised his performance (especially those who immediately fell in love with his bad boy type!). But one thing Kylo Ren did in the movies that’s apparently unforgivable? He killed Han Solo. ©Lucasfilm And technically that’s up for debate because you don’t actually see him fully do the deed — fans are divided on whether they think he did it or not. But that certainly doesn’t stop some brazen individuals from approaching Adam Driver on the street and accusing him of murder. (Sounds like a regular Tuesday, if you ask us. ) Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge During a recent appearance on SNL, Adam Driver gave his opening monologue as though he were sharing his Christmas list with Santa Claus. One of his biggest requests? For people to stop approaching him on the street to say “You killed Han Solo!” Driver went on to say perhaps the best quote of the monologue — “I didn’t kill Han Solo, wokeness killed Han Solo!” ©SNL So if you’re looking for someone to blame for the murder of the beloved scoundrel and scruffy nerfherder, it looks like you need to get mad at “wokeness” instead of Adam Driver. For the love of all that is good, please quit stopping that man on the street to accuse him of killing his own father — it kind of crushes the vibe, you guys. 5. 2024 is shaping up to be a pretty big year for Disney World! Cinderella Castle The Disney Dining Plan is coming back, new restaurants, rides, and more are opening soon, and park pass reservations are going away for most people. But, there are still some questions left unanswered when it comes to what exactly the parks will look like next year — and we’re going to try to answer one of them right now! As of January 9th, 2024, Park Pass Reservations will NOT be needed AT ALL for those who have date-based tickets! In other words, people who buy theme park tickets that are tied to a specific date or set of dates won’t need park passes to get into the parks at all. This is excellent news! But, what does it mean for Virtual Queues (VQ) in the parks? Allow us to speculate wildly. What Could Happen The short answer is, we really don’t know. The way the rules and restrictions are set up right now have those park passes in mind. For example, right now there are two Virtual Queue drops each day for the rides that use them — at 7AM and 1PM. TRON Virtual Queue board For the 7AM drop, you don’t need to be in the park where the ride is located, but you do need to have a park pass for that park. It’s possible Disney could change this so that no park pass is needed at all, and anyone can try to snag a VQ from anywhere. On the flip side, for the 1PM drop, you’re required to be physically inside the park where you’re trying to get a VQ — which makes it pretty much impossible to obtain if you’re hopping to that park after the 2PM rule. Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue With park passes and the 2PM park hopping rule going away, we could see both park restrictions and time restrictions change. Disney could choose to swap the 7AM and 1PM times based on these updates as well. ©Disney Another scenario we might run into is that Annual Passholders and certain non-date-based ticketholders will still need to have the proper park pass in order to join a VQ, since reservations will be required in certain situations in 2024 — or they could choose to drop the requirement for just one of the VQ drops. Disney World Annual Pass Of course, we don’t know that anything at all will change — Disney could choose to keep the rules and restrictions exactly as they are. But, there may be some people who have an even better idea of what might happen than we do. What Cast Members Have Said In our speculation, we spoke with some Cast Members who work at attractions with virtual queues to see if they had any information or ideas about what might happen once park passes are no longer required. And, while none of them knew for sure, here’s what they said. TRON virtual queue and Lightning Lane signs According to a guest relations Cast Member, you will be able to wake up on the day of your visit and book a virtual queue in any park you want to. Since reservations won’t be needed anymore for date-based tickets, any virtual queue from any park will be available. However, they advised that the 1PM drop will still require you to be in the park that you wish to join a virtual queue. TRON virtual queue crowds While we can’t be totally certain what might happen with virtual queues when park pass reservations go away, we can be prepared for any of the possibilities. Disney could make some updates to the system, overhaul it completely, or just leave it as it is. It’s likely that the first day park passes are no longer required may be a bit chaotic when it comes to virtual queues, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on being in the parks on January 9th! Either way, we’ll be bringing you the answers as soon as we find out — so stay tuned to DFB for more! 12 Major Changes Coming to Disney World in 2024 Planning a Trip to Disney World? 7. On the heels of the news that Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) employees got quite the shock of a massive outstanding tax bill recently for previous benefits from Disney, we’ve learned of another update! Disney vs. DeSantis Disney filed a federal lawsuit against DeSantis and members of the board in early 2023 arguing that Disney’s federal rights to free speech have been violated. Disney claims that DeSantis has waged a “relentless campaign to weaponize government power” against Disney to punish them for their political views. We’ve seen Governor Ron DeSantis’ team attempt to dismiss the Disney lawsuit previously (actually twice already); however, it seems they’ve made plans for one more attempt for a federal judge to decide on very soon. Attorneys for Governor Ron DeSantis plan to ask the federal judge presiding over their case on Tuesday, December 12th, to dismiss the free speech lawsuit filed by Disney. This lawsuit was filed in response to DeSantis taking control over Disney World’s Reedy Creek governing district when the company publicly opposed a new state law that banned classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation in young grade levels. ©ABC || DeSantis signs the Parental Rights in Education Act into law. Although this isn’t the first time we’ve seen DeSantis’ attorneys file motions to dismiss the matter, it is the latest. If the motion to dismiss the lawsuit is unsuccessful, the hearing on December 12th would be the first time anyone would hear legal verbal arguments about the case in a courtroom. The hearing is currently scheduled to happen in Tallahassee. According to an article by CBS News, part of the lawsuit filed by Disney claims that DeSantis knowingly used state power to retaliate against the entertainment company, which violated its First Amendment right to free speech. DeSantis’ attorneys plan to argue a dismissal for the case, claiming the Governor is immune because he doesn’t enforce any of the laws that removed supervision of the district from Disney supporters to those who were recently appointed in the renamed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream The decision to dismiss or not is being left up to U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor. Pending his decision, the outcome could determine who controls the governing district surrounding Disney World. This district oversees services such as planning, road repairs, and emergency services for Disney World’s property. Judge Winsor took office by appointment in 2019 when President Donald Trump was in office. ©Florida Bar This feud isn’t only at a federal level either — Disney and DeSantis are also battling in a Florida state court about a lawsuit filed in Orlando over who controls the district. Attorneys for DeSantis are arguing the federal lawsuit should be dismissed since they claim that Disney lacks grounds in their claims to support a lawsuit. According to CBS, “Neither the governor nor the secretary of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, who is also named in the lawsuit, have the power to enforce the laws which were passed to revamp the Disney World government and shift control of the district’s board from Disney supporters to the governor’s appointees, according to DeSantis.” The new appointees from the Governor are also named in the lawsuit filed by Disney. DeSantis For their side, Disney is rebuffing DeSantis’ motion to dismiss, instead holding steadfast to their accusations that DeSantis and his appointees have been using political institutions to punish disfavored viewpoints different from their own. According to court papers filed with the suit, Disney claimed, “That premise is not just legally unsupported, it is profoundly un-American.” ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream This feud started in 2022 after Disney made public statements opposing Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law, commonly called the “Don’t Say Gay” law by critics. The new law was championed by Governor DeSantis, who has also announced plans to run for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. In retaliation to Disney’s public rebuttal of the state law, DeSantis and Republican legislators passed legislation in early 2023 that took over the district Disney had previously controlled as the RCID for more than 50 years and installed 5 new board members. 9. Before we show you this new Disney 100th anniversary souvenir, we have to WARN you. Nobody warned us before we saw it, and now it might haunt our dreams forever. It is — in short — absolutely terrifying. Target OK, sorry about all the dramatics — the new item really isn’t that bad…probably. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Disney’s 100th anniversary brought lots of new merchandise to the parks, Amazon, Target, and more shopping locations. Most of the new collections were pretty cute, with lots of platinum and purple color schemes. However, Target is now throwing it back with a RETRO collection to celebrate the big anniversary and…well…some of the items are less “vintage chic” and more “just plain frightening.” Get the (mildly terrifying) Disney100 Retro Plushes from Target…if you dare! Retro Reimagined Plushes Do you see what we mean? OK, well, from far away you might actually think these plaid plushes are pretty cute. But we were almost immediately taken aback by the eyes of some of these characters. Donald and Pluto Donald in particular seems to be staring into our soul from a black and red abyss. Um…you OK, Donald? Goofy isn’t really much better. Yikes These new toys are…not for us. But if they’re your thing, you can get them online or at your local Target! Who knows — maybe in 50 years they’ll be priceless vintage treasures. The set also comes with a collector’s coin. 11. If you’ve ever driven to Magic Kingdom, you know that it can be a pain! Magic Kingdom Entrance The Magic Kingdom parking lot, otherwise known as the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) is actually over a mile away from the park itself. Once you park, you’ll have to take a tram to the front of the TTC (or walk if you feel like getting those steps in), go through security, and then board either a Monorail or a ferryboat to ride the remainder of the distance to the entrance. But those doing this process today might have a big hurdle to jump. This morning, we arrived at the TTC to find out that the Express Monorail was down. This is the fastest way to get to the park typically, so it definitely threw a wrench in some people’s plans. It was closed! After a few minutes, Disney began running one Monorail train. But with only one train, things were significantly delayed, so they encouraged people to take the ferry instead. The Resort Monorail was still running at this time. Ferryboat If you’d like to take the Resort Monorail from the TTC, just know that you’ll have to stop at the Polynesian Village Resort and Grand Floridian Resort before reaching the Magic Kingdom stop. The whole trip takes about 15 minutes on average — which could possibly be the fastest option when there’s a delay like there was today. Resort Monorail it is! 14. If you’re going on a Disney Cruise, there’s something you should be warned about… Captain Hook and Mr. Smee on the Disney Magic Or maybe I should put it this way: BE YE WARNED, me hearties, because your ship — specifically, the Disney Magic — may be taken over by PIRATES, and they’ll want YOU to join their crew! So we’re here to walk you through EVERYTHING you need to know about Pirate Night on the Disney Magic so YOU don’t walk the plank! Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party On Disney Cruise Line, Pirate Night can vary from ship to ship. For instance, on the new Disney Wish, passengers experience the Pirates Rockin’ Parlay Party. Here on the Disney Magic… well, you’ve heard of Pirates of the Caribbean, right? The highlight of Pirate Night on Disney’s first ship to ever set sail is the Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party! Pirate Night You’ll gather with your fellow pirates on the pool deck for a nighttime party like no other. Disney pals and crew will entertain you with a show and teach YOU how to party like a pirate! But beware… YO HO! They may be joined onstage by some uninvited scoundrels and scallywags! From this point… well, I don’t want to spoil things. Let’s just say that someone very special just may show up to save the night. Pirate Mickey The entire thing is capped off by something Disney Cruise Line is known for: FIREWORKS AT SEA! ©Disney Now we pirates don’t like rules, do we??? HECK, NO! Still, we must remind that fireworks are weather-permitting. Also, be aware that Pirate Night is part of select sailings, so check your itinerary on the Disney Cruise Line website, or with help from your Travel Agent. Disney Characters and Costumes The fun starts even before the sun sets on Pirate Night! As the ship prepares for the party, Disney characters prepare in their own way… by donning their best PIRATE COSTUMES so you can get a hug and have your photo taken with the cutest band of pirates you ever did see. The Disney Pals Pirate Crew Doesn’t Daisy make an especially pretty pirate? Pirate Daisy (Not to leave out Pirate Minnie, of course!) Pirate Minnie But here’s the thing… Disney pals aren’t the only ones who get to gear up with gold hoop earrings, tricorn hats, striped shirts and socks, and… umm, HOOKS. Captain Hook You see, passengers are likewise encouraged to dress for the occasion! And you won’t believe how many guests go ALL OUT for the big night. Didn’t pack any pirate garb? That’s ok, matey! Disney Cruise Line has you covered, as every guest on the ship receives their very own Pirates in the Caribbean bandana to fit right in. (If you really won’t feel like your look is complete without an eye patch, though… you’re on your own.) Pirate Eats Of course, a pirate’s gotta eat to be ready to party, so Pirate Night features a special menu for dinner at each of the Main Dining restaurants. Rapunzel’s Royal Table On the Disney Magic, these are Rapunzel’s Royal Table, Lumiere’s, and Animator’s Palate. But don’t you fret… no matter where you are dining on Pirate Night in Disney Cruise Line’s signature Rotational Dining, the special Pirate Night menu will be served. Roasted Privateer Strip Loin Pictured above is the Roasted Privateer Strip Loin served with thyme-roasted potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding. Though subject to change, other options may include dishes like Jolly Rogers Barbecue Rib Salad, Vegetable Samosas, Pirates Gold-en Pot Stickers and Chilled-to-the-Bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup. Oh, and you’ll likely spy Rum-Soaked Chocolate Cake as one of the dessert choices, of course. AHOY! Pirate-y Extras Pirate Night fun extends beyond dinner and the deck party onboard the Disney Magic! You might join in on Pirate Trivia or a themed game show as one of the many onboard activities. Get a little GOOFY on Pirate Night! Lil’ Pirates may enjoy pirate-themed activities at their own dedicated clubs (like Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab for kids ages 3 – 12 years old). Oceaneer Club No matter which activities you’d like to participate in, you can refer to the free Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to find times and locations. ©Disney Cruise Line Didn’t have enough to eat at dinner? (HA! Like that would ever happen on a Disney Cruise…) Your itinerary might include a special late-night buffet following the deck party on Pirate Night! (Your attentive server will let you know at dinner, if that’s the case.) Cabanas Buffet on the Disney Magic Oh, and you may just find another pirate has joined you as you finally head into your stateroom to dream of the treasure chest full of memories you’ve made during your perfectly pirate-y day at sea… Pirate Night Towel Animal So, I guess there’s just one question to ask at this point: AAAAARRRRR ye ready to set sail on a Disney Cruise and channel your inner PIRATE? 15. Tis the season for eating WAY too many sweets! Christmas at Disneyland! We’ve been all over Disney World and Disneyland Resort trying out snacks, from gingerbread treats at the impressive hotel displays to exclusive eats at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights. But there’s a Disneyland snack we haven’t talked about yet, and we’re here to share a FULL review! We recently stopped by Stage Door Cafe in Disneyland to try out the Holiday Wreath Funnel Cake for $9.99. It’s a wreath-shaped funnel cake topped with apple cider drizzle, fresh baked apples, whipped topping, and holiday sprinkles. Let’s get it! And honestly? We LOVED it! The funnel cake was really delicious and the first few bites reminded us of a warm apple pie. There’s a strong apple cinnamon taste throughout and the whipped topping added a nice cool, vanilla flavor to balance it out. Very apple pie adjacent The funnel cake itself had a great texture — some bites were crispy while others were soft. Essentially, fried to perfection! We have ZERO complaints about this entire treat. It’s like enjoying one of grandma’s delicious apple pies. Funnel Cake So if you’re an apple pie fan, RUN to Stage Door Cafe to pick up this treat! (Well, actually you should just walk quickly because there’s no running allowed in the parks. ) We highly recommend this as a holiday snack. 17. While Disney is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary, the company has been making headlines for some not-so-celebratory news in recent months. ©Disney From CEO Bob Iger’s comments on Disney’s “woke agenda” to his and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ feud over the former Reedy Creek Improvement District, a lot is going on for the company at the moment. Now, a new report shows that a class action lawsuit against Disney regarding a pay disparity is in the works. According to Variety, a judge has allowed 9,000 women to sue Disney in a class action lawsuit, alleging that the company paid these women less than their male counterparts. The lawsuit is the largest ever certified under California’s Equal Pay Act, which states that an employer may not pay a worker less based on race, ethnicity, or sex. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters Lori Andrus, the plaintiffs’ attorney, stated that “Disney has been gaslighting these women for four years.” She continued, “They love their jobs. They love the brand. But they want to be respected and treated the way they should be in the workplace.” Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times The lawsuit includes female employees who have worked for the company in California since 2015 in a non-union position below the level of vice president. “It covers employees from the Disneyland hotels and theme park, the cruise line, the Disney film and TV studios, ABC, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and other units. It does not include Pixar, ESPN, Hulu, Fox, or FX.” Disney California Adventure Andrus has argued that the starting pay across the class is 2% lower for women than men. However, Disney’s attorney, Felicia Davis, states that the plaintiffs are trying to compare salaries across thousands of job groups, “which reflect the decentralized decisions of thousands of managers.” Disneyland Resort According to Davis, two employees who share a job family and level do not necessarily have “substantially similar” work, but Andrus maintains that there has been discrimination against women. A status conference will take place on February 9th, and a trial will follow sometime before October. “Walt Disney Is Turning in His Grave,” and Other Controversial Things Elon Musk Has Said About Bob Iger Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 18. Quick! Go stand next to a fan — things are going to get heated. We’re asking a question long-debated among Disney World fans, and it could spark some intense debate. Spaceship Earth Buckle up, we’re asking our readers: Which is the BEST method of transportation in Disney World? Do you prefer the new but lighting-averse Skyliner? Are you team ol’ reliable, a.k.a. the bus? Maybe you like the wind in your hair as you sail on a boat? Or maybe you’re a purist, and you love the iconic Disney World monorail? OK, it’s time to see which Disney transportation method comes out on top. Oh, and we can already hear some people asking, “What about my car?” or “What about walking?” but guess what? We’re not counting those. We’re talking strictly about Disney World’s FREE, Disney-created, Disney-operated services that are accessible to EVERYONE. OK? We can’t muddle the results with things like cars and rideshare services because those won’t work for everyone. We gotta keep it fair! Disney Skyliner At first, the Skyliner and the monorail seemed like the clear frontrunners, but could the boat or bus pull ahead? @DisneyFoodBlog on Instagram Now, for the moment that we’ve all been waiting for. The winner is (*drumroll*)… @DisneyFoodBlog on Instagram …the Skyliner! Surprised? Clearly, people LOVE the Skyliner. It certainly makes it WAY easier to get to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney World Skyliner On one hand, it’s pretty interesting that the Skyliner is so popular, considering it shuts down whenever inclement weather is in the area. During hurricane season, closures can happen pretty often! Sure, it runs continuously, but when bad weather is a factor, the Skyliner can be a bit unpredictable. Nevertheless, it was the clear winner among DFB readers! Closed Skyliner So, why do people love the Skyliner so much? Well, it’s fast, efficient, and FUN! Unlike the noisy bus and comparatively slow boats, the Skyliner soars through the air without any traffic or delays to deal with. It basically never stops moving (unless it’s closed, that is). We LOVE the Skyliner! Plus, the Skyliner is a hit with kids! We’ve even seen some families make special requests for a certain Skyliner gondola — who wouldn’t want to ride in an Ecanto-themed cabin, right? Encanto! Of course, we also have to give a shoutout to the monorail. After all this time, people still clearly love it! If you’re trying to hop from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT or want easy access to your Magic Kingdom-area hotel, this is a GREAT option. Hello from the Monorail! So, Disney fan, do you agree with the winning choice? Sound off in the comments! Oh, and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook so you don’t miss our next Disney debate. 20. January is a very BIG month for Disney World. EPCOT Why? Well, in several ways, things are going back to the way they were BEFORE the pandemic closures. So, for the first time in almost four years, people will be flocking to the parks for the return of the Disney Dining Plan, unlimited park hopping, and lack of park reservation requirements for most tickets. All of this will take place on January 9th! While all of that is cool and all, something happens on January 12th that we think should be a holiday. Let’s talk about it. 25. We went on a Disney cruise recently, where we learned something really cool about DOLE Whip! Pineapple Dole Whip DOLE Whip is an iconic treat in the Disney theme parks. At Disney World, we usually head to Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom or Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to get the tasty, tropical soft-serve treat. At Disneyland, The Tropical Hideaway is our go-to. You can find DOLE Whip on the Disney Cruise Line ships, but there’s one place you might be able to visit during your cruise that has tons of RARE DOLE Whip flavors! Where To Find DOLE Whip on Disney Cruise Ships Although the DOLE Whip you can get on the ships isn’t what we’re talking about here (the spot we’re talking about is actually located at one of the cruise ports!), we think it’s important that you know where to go if you need a DOLE Whip during your next cruise. Disney Wish Here’s where you can get DOLE Whip on each Disney Cruise Line ship: Disney Magic: Frozone Treats (Deck 9) Disney Fantasy: Frozone Treats (Deck 9) Disney Dream: Frozone Treats (Deck 11) Disney Wonder: Sulley’s Sips (Deck 9) Disney Wish: Wheezy’s Freezies (Deck 12) Wheezy’s Freezies There hasn’t been a DOLE Whip location announced for the new Disney Treasure cruise ship yet, but we’re wondering if there might be some fun DOLE Whip-inspired concoctions at the Jungle Cruise lounge on board this ship! ©Disney We’ll be sure to let you know if we hear any updates about that new ship. Beware: It’s Not Quite the Same as in the Parks Although DOLE Whip IS available on the cruise ships, in our experience, it’s not the same as what you’ll find in the theme parks. It’s usually part of a drink — like a cocktail or mocktail — and even on its own, it’s more like a smoothie than soft-serve ice cream. DOLE Whip Cocktail So although the flavors will be familiar, the texture of DOLE Whip might come as a surprise on the ships. Read our review of a DOLE Whip drink on the Disney Wish here! The GOOD NEWS about DOLE Whip on Certain Disney Cruises OK, we’ve held it in long enough! It’s time to tell you the really cool thing we learned on our recent cruise aboard the Disney Dream. You can find some delicious and RARE DOLE Whip flavors in Nassau! Our cruise itinerary included a stop at Nassau, Bahamas, and when we got off the ship, we walked through some cute, colorful shops that were located just to the right of the entrance to the port. Shops While we were strolling along, we noticed that one shop was selling DOLE Whip, and they had LOTS of flavors. DOLE Whip Shop The flavors listed on the menu included Pineapple, Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry, Lemon, Lime, Cherry, Watermelon, and Pomegranate. Lots of flavors! The Pomegranate flavor caught our attention, but unfortunately, they were out on the day we visited. Instead, we tried a combo of Mango and Lime. DOLE Whip! We thought this combo was delicious! The tart lime balanced out the sweetness from the mango, and both were bright, tropical flavors that fit perfectly with a Bahamas vacation. Mango Lime DOLE Whip This treat was definitely closer to the Disney parks’ DOLE Whip than the cruise ship variety, but it was still not quite as creamy as the DOLE Whip you’ll find in Disney World and Disneyland. It was more like sorbet than soft serve. More like sorbet Still, it was really fun to get a taste of the parks while we were on our cruise, and it was a great bonus to have a huge variety of flavors to choose from! Yum So if you’re sailing to Nassau soon — whether you’re on a Disney cruise or not! — make sure to stop by this spot and grab a treat. Here’s the Catch… There was just one problem with the DOLE Whip in Nassau: It was PRICEY. Disney World’s DOLE Whips are usually around $6 for a cup, but this one was DOUBLE that, coming in at $12. We did get two flavors, but the size was about the same as the Disney World treat. Very expensive We expect high prices from touristy places like this (and this stand was super close to where everyone was disembarking their ships, which makes it extra touristy), but we wanted to give you a heads-up before you visit.
