  2. Come with us to Dollywood to try some EXCLUSIVE desserts! Dollywood Dippin’ Dots! Tennessee’s Dollywood may be known for its thrilling rides, world-class theme park experience, and ties to the uber-talented and massively beloved Dolly Parton, but it’s also home to some pretty incredible eats. In fact, you can find exclusive Dippin’ Dots flavors here! We tried a couple during a recent visit, and we’re sharing our thoughts! That’s right, there are some flavors of that addicting ice cream snack ONLY at Dollywood! We tried two Dollywood-exclusive flavors, and they both left lasting impressions! Jukebox Junction First up was the Strawberry Cheesecake Yodots at Tennessee Tornado Dippin’ Dots! This dessert is sold for $11.99 — primarily because it comes with a refillable cup. Refills cost $7.49. This was so unique. Super subtle and creamier than normal Dippin’ Dots, this dessert was a slam dunk. The cheesecake flavor was more natural than artificial, and none of the main flavors were overwhelming — but were still present. This was simple and easy to enjoy, and we think it’s a great ice cream alternative if you don’t want something that will melt immediately. Strawberry Cheesecake Yodots Next, we headed over to Jukebox Junction Dippin’ Dots to try the Big Bear Brownie Batter! Also, $11.99 with $7.49 refills, this dessert was so good that we’re sad it’s exclusive to Dollywood. These are chocolaty, creamy Dippin’ Dots with like cube-like chunks of chewy brownie batter. The brownie batter wasn’t the best we’ve ever had, but the dessert was like freeze-dried ice cream, so it was a fun treat. The chunks of brownie were ample but not too much, and they provided an excellent textual experience. Not too rich but still really creamy, we may come back to Dollywood just for this because it was that good. Big Bear Brownie Batter Honestly, these treats left us with a bittersweet feeling. We liked them both quite a bit, so knowing we can’t get them at our local stores kinda stinks. We guess that just means we’ve gotta revisit Dollywood soon! We’ll continue to share reviews from our theme park adventures around the world, so be sure to keep it posted right here at DFB for the latest updates! Dollywood Has Quietly Become The Next Big Theme Park Food Destination DON'T DO IT ALONE! 3. The best thing about Disney World isn’t the food or the rides or the entertainment…it’s the Cast Members! Cast Members They really are the reason that magic exists in Disney World, and the customer service that they offer is unparalleled. But if you’re planning a trip to Disney, there are a few Cast Members you’ll want to be on the lookout for during your trip! The First Order on Rise of the Resistance One of the best types of Cast Members in Disney World is the “themed role” Cast Members on attractions! And when it comes to themed roles, there are none quite as fun as the First Order members on Rise of the Resistance. These are the folks who (*spoilers ahead*) capture your transport vessel and take you aboard the Star Destroyer. First Order Officer Once they get you in their clutches, you’ll be sorted into groups to be “interrogated.” Then comes the fun part! These Cast Members often get really into their roles, being a little less friendly and a lot more intimidating. It’s not actually scary so much as it’s sassy, so it’s fun for all ages to experience these Cast Members at work. 6 Things That’ll Make Your Ride BETTER on Rise of the Resistance Willie the PhotoPass Photographer If you’ve ever had your photo taken by a PhotoPass photographer in Hollywood Studios, you might’ve met Willie — he’s an icon and has been recognized in the past as the Cast Member to receive the MOST cast compliments. He primarily works in the Hollywood areas of the park, and he’s a gem. We love Cast Member Willie! Willie’s always smiling and seems to really love what he does, making every photoshoot memorable. He’s known for saying “I’m gonna have some fun with y’all!” and BOY does he. In 2025, he received the Walt Disney Legacy Award. Go Willie! Learn More About Willie Here! Haunted Mansion Hosts & Tower of Terror Bellhops I grouped these two together since they’ve got similar vibes — the Haunted Mansion hosts and the Tower of Terror bellhops are must-see Cast Members during your visit if you love all things eerie and spooky. They’ve got this kind of “creepy but surprisingly chill” thing going on for them, and their uniforms (known as “costumes” in Disney speak) are so fun and detailed. Haunted Mansion Cast Members walking their ghost dogs They often have delightfully on-theme things to say when you speak to them, and their scripts for directing guests fit really well with their attractions (“please move into the dead center of the room,” anyone?). These are the kinds of roles that new hires dream of getting placed in at Disney World. 5 Cast Member-Approved Restaurants Near Disney World Erik and Aria If you’ve got kids who are Elsa-obsessed, you’ve probably seen it, but otherwise, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Hollywood Studios is a hidden gem of a show! This 30-minute performance features sing-along versions of the songs from the original Frozen film, but it’s narrated live by two Arendelle historians, Erik and Aria. Frozen Sing-Along And let me tell you…these guys are HILARIOUS. They crack some of the funniest jokes this side of the Jungle Cruise, and they sprinkle in some humor for the parents as well. You’ll be cackling all show long and walk away saying, “Well, that was surprisingly delightful!” even as an adult. See the Guide to Disney World Entertainment Here! The 50s Prime Time ‘Cousins’ Last but not least, we’re going to recommend you head over to 50s Prime Time Cafe, where you can dine in “Mom’s kitchen,” where the servers are your cousins! And these cousins? They don’t hold back! They will straight-up punish you if you don’t eat all your veggies or put your elbows on the table. Clean Plate Club! You might find yourself being sent to the corner or performing “I’m a Little Teapot” live in front of other guests. This is the kind of meal that will cause inside jokes with your family and friends that’ll last for years to come. (Seriously, my husband has me listed in his phone as “Betty Jean” because it’s what our 50s Prime Time cousin called me the whole meal.) Those are the top Cast Members you’ll want to look out for when you’re in Disney World. See these folks, and you’re sure to level up your vacation experience! 7 Things Disney World Hotel Cast Members Won’t Tell You Because They’re Too Nice Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 8. Disney World days have a way of exposing every weakness in your packing strategy. BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag Whether it’s a dead MagicBand+, an unexpected downpour, or a bag that’s more annoying than helpful, the little things can make a big difference. After spending days in the parks putting affordable Amazon finds to the test, we found four items under $20 that actually earned a permanent spot on our Disney packing list. These aren’t gimmicks or impulse buys — they’re practical solutions to real park-day problems. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. You’re Going to Wish You Packed This on Night One MultiCharger for MagicBand+ One of the easiest mistakes to make at Disney World happens back in your hotel room. Between phones, smartwatches, portable chargers, and MagicBand+, outlets disappear fast. The MultiCharger for MagicBand+ solves that problem beautifully. It lets you charge up to four MagicBand+ devices at once using a single outlet, which is incredibly helpful when traveling with family or friends. It’s lightweight, compact, and specifically designed to work with MagicBand+, unlike many generic USB hubs that can be hit or miss. We especially love that it takes up almost no room in a park bag or suitcase. If you’re tired of playing outlet Tetris at the end of a long park day, this one deserves a spot in your luggage. view ON AMAZON The Florida Weather Backup Plan You Need Frogg Toggs Poncho Florida weather doesn’t care about your vacation plans. A sunny morning can turn into a soaking afternoon in minutes. That’s why the FROGG TOGGS Ultra-lite2 Waterproof Breathable Rain Poncho made our list. It provides full coverage, includes an adjustable hood, and packs down into its own stuff sack when you’re not using it. At just a few ounces, it’s easy to carry all day without noticing it’s there. The best part is that it feels much more practical than lugging around a bulky rain jacket. When the skies open up, you’ll be glad you planned ahead. view ON AMAZON This Tiny Bag Held Way More Than We Expected BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag Finding the perfect Disney World bag is surprisingly difficult. You want something small and lightweight, but it still needs to hold the essentials. The BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag absolutely surprised us. During our testing, it comfortably carried a 24-ounce water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip gloss, a pinfolio, medication, and more. The front pocket even fit a large iPhone, while the drawstring top kept everything secure on rides. What really impressed us was how convenient it felt throughout the day. Instead of constantly removing a backpack and digging through zippers, everything stayed within easy reach. For afternoon park visits, quick trips, Annual Passholder outings, or anyone who prefers traveling light, this became an instant favorite. We even found ourselves preferring it over a Loungefly in certain situations. It’s one of those products that’s hard to appreciate until you actually use it. view ON AMAZON The Disney Accessory That Doesn’t Cause a Headache ODOCARE Handmade Mouse Ears Headband Let’s be honest. Some Disney ears look great, but become uncomfortable long before fireworks. The Handmade Mouse Ears Headband impressed us because it delivered the classic Minnie-inspired look without the usual discomfort. The plush black ears and red polka-dot bow feel surprisingly high-quality, and the lightweight design was noticeably more comfortable than many park-purchased alternatives. The ears have a soft, fuzzy texture that makes them feel a little extra special, while still keeping the iconic design simple and timeless. Aside from some slightly cheaper-feeling fabric near the headband itself, these held up remarkably well and looked fantastic in the parks. Considering the lower price point, the value here is hard to beat. If you’ve been looking for a more comfortable ears option, this one’s worth a closer look. view ON AMAZON Disney vacations are expensive enough, which is why we love finding affordable products that genuinely improve the experience. These four Amazon finds solved real problems we encountered in the parks and earned a spot on our packing list for future trips. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article

  10. If you thought Disney World was a workout for your feet, wait until you spend a day at Epic Universe. We LOVE these! Universal’s newest park opened with no shortage of massive, immersive worlds to explore, and the walking distances alone are something to prepare for. Comfortable, reliable footwear is not optional here. Whether you’re a seasoned theme park veteran or making the pilgrimage for the first time, the right shoes will make or break your visit. Here are the ones Disney adults are actually packing for Epic Universe right now, and they’re all available on Amazon. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Your Feet Will Thank You at 3PM Hoka Clifton 10 The afternoon slump is real in any theme park, and it usually shows up in your feet first. That familiar burning sensation creeping in around midday has a name, and it’s “wrong shoes.” The Hoka Women’s Clifton 10 was practically built to fight that feeling. This running trainer has been a go-to for cushioned comfort for a decade, and the latest version adds an extra 3mm of heel-to-toe drop along with a revamped underfoot experience that keeps things plush from the first step to the last. The updated breathable jacquard upper and double-lace lock help maintain a snug, stable fit as the miles pile up. view ON AMAZON The One That Goes the Distance (And Then Some) Brooks Ghost 17 Theme park days are marathons, not sprints, and you need a shoe that treats every mile the same. The Brooks Women’s Ghost 17 is built around exactly that idea. This neutral running shoe delivers soft, nitrogen-infused cushioning from the first loop around a land to the hundredth, with an extra millimeter of foam in the heel and 3mm more in the forefoot compared to previous versions. It’s earned both APMA acceptance and PDAC diabetic shoe certification, which tells you a lot about how seriously Brooks takes long-day comfort. It also holds a carbon-neutral certification, which is a nice bonus. view ON AMAZON Built for Concrete, Made for This On Cloudswift Sneakers Hard surfaces are their own kind of punishment, and Epic Universe has no shortage of them. If your usual sneakers start feeling flat by noon on regular pavement, a park built on concrete and stone is going to expose every weakness fast. The On Women’s Cloudswift trainers were designed specifically for hard surface running and city wear, with Helion Superfoam and supportive side panels that absorb impact without losing that responsive, springy feel underfoot. These run right in the intersection of stylish and functional, which means they look great in photos and still hold up through a full park day. view ON AMAZON The Wildcard That Always Wins ©Amazon Not every part of Epic Universe is going to call for a closed-toe running shoe. Water features, warm Florida days, and spontaneous soaks are all part of the experience, and packing a backup sandal has saved more than a few park visits. The Teva Women’s Original Universal Sport Sandal is the kind of option that earns its spot in any park bag. The Universal Strapping System offers multiple points of adjustability for a genuinely secure fit, and the molded EVA midsole gives you real arch support rather than just a flat piece of foam. Quick-dry straps made from REPREVE recycled plastic and a peppermint-based natural odor treatment round out a sandal built to handle heat, water, and long days without complaint. view ON AMAZON Shoes might not be the most exciting part of your Epic Universe packing list, but they’re one of the most important decisions you’ll make before you walk through those gates. The right pair keeps you in the moment instead of limping back to your resort early. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Epic Universe souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article
  11. Welcome back to Tiny Train Town updates with Madam Mayor! Let’s go to Tiny Train Town! If you’ve never come along with me on a visit to Disney World’s itty bitty city, then you’re in for a wild ride! The tiny train village in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT is full of shenanigans and ne’er-do-wells, and as the mayor of the village, it’s my job to report on all the nonsense. Let’s go see what they’re up to! Let’s kick off this update with a stop in the town square! Despite the heat, the citizens were out and about doing their shopping. We’re in that strange lull between festivals in EPCOT, so there are no decorative banners (if you didn’t know, the tiny banners in the train village change with the EPCOT festivals). Surprisingly, things were pretty quiet in town center today! All is quiet? But the same could not be said for out on the rails! A transport car fell off the tracks just as it passed over a bridge, dumping its cargo into the ravine below. Thankfully, the conductor survived, but you know what didn’t? Three thousand pounds of cheese being imported for the town’s fondue party…OH THE HUMANITY!!! How ever will we have the Fondue & Friends Fest NOW?! Oh no! As you may recall, the Old Men’s Mahjong Club has recently formed up and started meeting around town (chess clubs are SO last year). The guys from the retirement community found this table set up outside one of the town’s chapels, but when they sat down to play, they discovered a patch of quicksand! Seriously, quicksand in our little village? What are the ODDS?! One disaster after another! And speaking of the chess club, attendance is dwindling these days thanks to the cheating scandal at the tournament a few months ago. Bill just sits at the table in the gazebo waiting for opponents all day long. But nobody wants to play with you, Bill! That’s what happens when you’re a cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater. Poor chess club Thankfully, no citizens were seriously harmed with this week’s shenanigans (a nice break from murder plots and riots, if I do say so myself). Maybe we’ll have a nice, calm summer season? Unlikely, but a Mayor can dream. * The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. 12. We recently visited Dollywood and tried some unique treats! Bear Ice Cream Cone We recently visited the Dolly Parton co-owned theme park resort in Tennessee and experienced everything — from the world-class rides to the incredibly underrated eats. Speaking of eats, we tried an animal-themed dessert, and we want to tell ya all about it! During our visit, we wanted to get our hands on any snack we could, and that pursuit led us to Songbird Market Grab and Go at Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort. Songbird Market Grab & Go It’s here that we found the Bear Ice Cream Cone for $9.95. This treat is served on a bear-shaped cone and comes with soft serve and your choice of sundae toppings — and we have tons of thoughts! Bear Ice Cream Cones This sundae was all about the aesthetics. The ice cream itself was traditional vanilla soft serve — very familiar, comforting, and creamy. The sprinkles were pretty, but only added texture. But the real star of the show was the bear cone. The cone itself was pretty soft and not crunchy like a normal ice cream cone. It’s very cute and very Dollywood-esque, but not the best ice cream we’ve ever had. That being said, it was very tasty, and the ability to customize flavors and toppings should make most people happy. Pretty good! Of note, you can get them in the theme parks as well, but the line will probably be significantly longer in the parks, so if you’re at the resort, consider grabbing it there! We’ll continue to share reviews from our theme park adventures around the world — including Dollywood! Keep it posted right here at DFB for the latest updates! 13. We tried some NEW treats in Disney World recently! She’s a beaut! We’re constantly on the lookout for new snacks dropping around the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs, and when we find things to try, we share those reviews with our followers! This way, you guys know what the must-have treats are for your upcoming vacations. We just tried three new items in Hollywood Studios and EPCOT — should you get them? Let’s find out! Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT For the first new treat, we’re heading to Sunshine Seasons in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. Here, we snagged the Mickey-shaped Strawberry Lemonade Macaron for $6.29. It’s a pretty one! How pretty! The overall flavor of this leans hard into the tart lemonade. The icing filling is soft and smooth with a sweet lemon flavor, and it balances nicely with the strawberry jam that’s in the center of each Mickey ear and the middle of the macaron. Those two filling flavors together help create that strawberry lemonade vibe. It’s tangy! The filling is the main focus here, as the macaron itself doesn’t have much flavor to it. But be warned — that yellow color will absolutely stain your fingers! Inside the macaron It’s very pretty, but it’s not necessarily a must-try unless you’re a huge macaron fan or love strawberry lemonade-flavored things. It’s perfect for the Instagram feed, though! Epic Eats in Hollywood Studios At Epic Eats in Echo Lake at Hollywood Studios, you’ll find the new Pride Funnel Cake for $8.99. It’s topped with Fruity Pebbles cereal, ube frosting drizzle, powdered sugar, and a small amount of vanilla soft serve. Pride Funnel Cake They were pretty generous with the toppings here, but that soft serve melts near-instantly outside, particularly in the June heat. The ube frosting also confused us a bit because it started out as a vibrant purple color and proceeded to turn a lighter shade of blue throughout the process of taking photos. Perhaps because of the melting ice cream? It’s so pretty! The cereal, powdered sugar, melted soft serve, and ube frosting all together make it seem like a cereal milk-flavored funnel cake. It has the softness of the cereal pieces but a firm crunch on the outside edges from the funnel cake, which was soft and fluffy on the inside. Those cereal pieces get soggy pretty quickly, so it’s probably a good idea to enjoy this treat ASAP after picking it up at the window. Our bite All in all, it’s fun and colorful, and could be a favorite of those who love cereal and sweet treats, but it’s also probably not a must-try when stacked up against some of the other funnel cakes at this stand. Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Hollywood Studios At Rosie’s All-American Cafe on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studios, we grabbed two new items — the Plant-based Dog and the Red Velvet Riveter. The eats! The Plant-based Dog is $11.79 and comes with a side of house-made chips. The “sausage” dog is a bit on the smaller side, and the texture is dense and chunky with a bit of earthiness from the added spices. There’s a hint of a spicy aftertaste. It comes with chips The combination of the “sausage”, relish, BBQ aioli, and tomato create a savory tomato-heavy flavor that’s reminiscent of marinara sauce or pizza sauce. The tomato adds freshness and a crisp slightly crunchy texture to each bite while the relish gives a bit of a sweetness that balances the spiciness of the dog. Plant-based Dog The Red Velvet Riveter is now available here for $5.99. This is a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, chocolate ganache, and typically a white chocolate coin garnish (ours was missing initially — likely a first-day mishap). Red Velvet Riveter The cake kept its shape surprisingly well until we cut into it. The chocolate ganache center has a thin and runny texture that reminded us of a lava cake when cut into. The edges of the cake itself are a bit crispy, but the middle is soft and fluffy. It held up well! The flavor of the cream cheese frosting really stands out and combines with the chocolate to make this a very sweet treat. The aftertaste of this is a bit artificial, so that was slightly offputting, but the flavors work well together. If you eat it quickly, it probably won’t fall apart in the heat like ours did. 14. Park Hopping just got EASIER in Disneyland. Yes, we are just as excited as you are. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland In Disneyland, Park Hopping lets you jump back and forth between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, but to do this, you need a Park Hopper ticket or a Magic Key pass, their version of Annual Passes. There used to be an 11 AM time limit: you couldn’t hop between parks until after 11 AM, but good news—that’s all changing. There is no longer an 11 AM waiting period to Park Hop, starting on June 9th. Yes! Dale! Now, it’s important to note that you might still need to make a park pass reservation, depending on which type of ticket you have. Magic Key Holders, this includes you! You’ll need to choose your park pass reservation for the first park that you are starting in and scanning into first. Let’s go see Mickey! This new rule change allows for so much more flexibility. Being able to hop back and forth in the morning is amazing. You can scan into Disneyland, rope drop one ride, and then head to Disney California Adventure for your next one. Storybook Land Canal Boats One thing we love about the change is that if reservations are full at one park, you can grab a spot at the other and head there immediately. Easy peasy! 15. When discussing travel to Universal and Disney World, we are typically talking about the Orlando International Airport. However, there is another airport that serves Orlando tourists Orlando Sanford International Airport The Orlando Sanford International Airport is much smaller and less popular than the much larger MCO. However, one popular airline has decided to shift its flights over to the Sanford Airport. Let’s get into everything that we know. BermudAir shared that they will officially be moving their services from Orlando to Sanford. They will no longer offer flights from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA). BermudAir started back in 2023 to provide luxury, year-round service from Bermuda to the U.S East Coast. Orlando International Airport And they partnered with MCO back in 2024 because they felt like Orlando was a great destination for Bermuda residents. The CEO, Adam Scott, shared, “It is a great destination for Bermudians — I will look forward to taking my son to Disney World — but it is also the largest untapped market from the U.S. to Bermuda in terms of catchment area.” However, they have now decided to partner with the Orlando Sanford International Airport instead. Orlando Sanford International Airport According to SFB CEO Nicole Martz, “This new partnership reflects our commitment to providing airlines and passengers with a high-quality, efficient travel experience, and we look forward to connecting travelers between Central Florida and Bermuda.” In addition to flights from Sanford to Beruda, in December, BermudAir will also start offering flights from Sanford to Belize. Tickets for both these new flight options went on sale on June 5th. Orlando Sanford International Airport The flight from Orlando to Bermuda typically takes around three hours, and a one-way economy ticket ranges in price from $189 to $289. Passengers can also choose to upgrade to business class, which includes larger seats and priority boarding. BermudAir sets itself apart from other airlines by removing the middle seat, and they also serve Bermudian snacks and drinks on their flights. 16. Trying to choose the perfect Disney World hotel for your vacation? Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts You’ll want one with great perks, good transportation options, and a location that fits your needs. You’re also going to want to consider the dining and activity options available if you’re planning to spend some time there on your off days from the parks. One Disney World hotel has all that and more…but people keep sleeping on it! We’ve been singing the praises of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin for YEARS now, but the hotel complex still isn’t getting the hype it deserves. The Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve offer some serious perks that many Disney-owned resorts don’t even have, and they might just be the perfect place for you to stay on your upcoming trip. Location, Location, Location Perhaps the biggest draw for the Walt Disney World Swan, the Walt Disney World Dolphin, and the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve hotels is the location. These three hotels are one massive property, located in the EPCOT Resort area. This means they’re technically walking distance to both the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT and the entrance to Hollywood Studios. Swan and Dolphin They’re also next door to the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and BoardWalk Inn, with Friendship Boat transportation available on a loop to the three other hotels and two parks. Having all these popular spots nearby means you’ve got a plethora of dining at your fingertips, rope dropping the theme parks will be easy, and you have plenty to explore on your resort day. Plus, some roomas at the Swan and Dolphin will have theme park views, which means you might be able to see fireworks! 5 Reasons You Need to Stay at This Popular Disney World Hotel Some Awesome Perks One thing you’re probably not expecting about staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is that you’ll get almost all of the same perks that you would get at the Disney-owned hotels! This means that, like Disney Resort guests, you can purchase your Lightning Lane passes seven days in advance of your trip, enjoy Early Theme Park Entry every day of your visit, and make dining reservations for the length of your trip 60 days before your vacation begins. Dolphin Hotel The Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve hotels also offer free transportation to the Disney World parks. As mentioned above, Friendship Boats can take you to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, but you could also walk to those parks if you desire. Buses are available to take you to Disney Springs, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. It’s important to note, however, that the buses to Magic Kingdom drop you off at the Transportation & Ticket Center (unlike the Disney Resort buses, which drop you off directly by the park entrance). Swan and Dolphin bus at Animal Kingdom But the biggest perk of all? The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin counts in the Deluxe category of Disney World hotels. This means that you’ll have access to Extended Evening Hours on select dates in select parks — you get the chance to spend two extra hours in the park after it has closed to day guests! Learn More About Extended Evening Hours Here! A Resort for Foodies If dining is important to you when picking a hotel, then there might not be a better choice than the Swan and Dolphin area. Across these three hotels, there are 17 different dining locations, each with distinct menus and themes. From the fancy steakhouse vibes of Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina to the Mediterranean chill of Amare, there’s a little something for everyone. Bourbon Steak They’ve got dining options in a variety of price ranges as well, and each of the hotels has its own coffee shop, so you can grab your caffeine before you start the day. Also, you know we have to mention that Fuel at the Dolphin has self-serve DOLE WHIP! Yep, they’ve got a full froyo/soft serve bar with toppings and Dole Whip available. It’s to die for. The Complete Guide to Eating at the Swan and Dolphin Hotels Fun for the Whole Family Finally, we’ve got to chat about the activities available at these hotels. There are six unique pools across the complex, and they’re some of the prettiest that Disney World has to offer. On top of that, you can rent cabanas for a relaxing afternoon or choose to go out on the open water in one of the swan-shaped paddleboats. Swan boats! Inside, the Mandara Spa is an excellent choice for those who want to incorporate a massage or facial into their vacation. Fun for the whole family is available at Lagoon Games, Lanes & Eats, which is a combo bowling alley and arcade. Add in the fact that you can walk to the BoardWalk to enjoy their nighttime entertainment or visit Atlantic Dance Hall, and there’s SO much to do here. Lagoon Games, Lanes & Eats So if you’re not considering the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, you might be missing out! There’s a lot for guests to see at Walt Disney World this summer, including The Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, Bluey’s Wild World, and the revamped Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, just to name a few. That in turn means guests are flocking to Disney World’s hotels. Pool Party! Those throngs of guests will encounter a lot of changes, as there are a slew of hotel perks… and hotel closures to navigate this summer. 18. Listen, we love a big Disney World update. New rides? Great. Fresh restaurants? Wonderful. A surprise snack shaped like a beloved character? We are seated. We’ve got even MORE details about this part of Hollywood Studios! But sometimes, the most practical upgrades are the ones that deserve their tiny little spotlight. And today, we need to talk about bathrooms. Specifically, a newly refurbished restroom in Disney’s Hollywood Studios just got a small-but-mighty upgrade that could genuinely make your park day a little easier. A Fresh Bathroom Glow-Up The restroom located in the Walt Disney Studios area, formerly connected to Star Wars Launch Bay and near the exit of the Walt Disney Theater, recently received a refurbishment. From what we’ve seen, Disney appears to have kept the original tile flooring, but the space now has fresh toilet stalls and updated fixtures. A clean, refreshed Disney World bathroom is not something we take lightly. Walt Disney Studios bathroom In a park where you may be battling Florida humidity, popcorn fingers, Lightning Lane return times, and whatever emotional journey is currently happening outside Tower of Terror, a nice bathroom break can feel downright luxurious. The Real Star Here Is the Vacancy Sign The biggest little upgrade? The stalls now include vacancy signs. Yes. Those tiny indicators that tell you whether a stall is occupied or available without requiring the awkward shuffle-and-peek system that society has somehow tolerated for too long. Vacancy signs This may not sound like headline news if you are not currently standing in a theme park bathroom with 47 other people, a backpack, a cooling towel, and a child asking where the bubble wand went. But trust us, those little signs are useful. No more gently pushing on doors. No more making accidental eye contact through the stall gap. No more silently deciding whether a closed door means occupied, broken, or just mysteriously dramatic. Is This Actually Huge? Are we being a little hyperbolic by calling this a huge bathroom upgrade? Sure. But also, Disney World days are built out of a thousand tiny conveniences. A shaded bench. A short mobile order window. A bus that arrives right when your feet are considering legal action. A bathroom stall that clearly tells you whether it is free. Secret bathroom These things matter. Nobody plans a Disney World vacation around restroom stall indicators, but when you’re in the middle of a long park day, small design choices can make everything feel smoother. More of This, Please We are always happy to see Disney refreshing park spaces, especially the ones guests use constantly but rarely think about until they really need them. Bathrooms may not be glamorous, but they are essential. A clean, updated restroom with better stall indicators? That is the kind of quiet park improvement we can absolutely get behind. Changing area So yes, we are celebrating a bathroom remodel today. This is who we are now. And if Disney wants to keep adding vacancy signs across the parks, we will not complain. In fact, we may applaud politely from the hand-washing station. We’ll keep watching for more updates around Disney World, from massive construction projects to the tiny quality-of-life upgrades that make park days easier. 20. There is nothing worse than finding out your favorite attraction is closed for refurbishment just as you walk up to ride it. We always want you to be aware of any upcoming ride closures. So, if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland this summer, you’ve got to heed this warning! Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Several popular attractions are closing (or have already closed) for refurbishment. We always let you know when a ride is set to close, but it also helps to check the online refurbishment calendar before your trip. However, we’re here to warn you about another new ride closure that has been added to the list! Disneyland has updated its online calendar to note that a refurbishment starts for the Matterhorn Bobsleds on July 20th. Currently, the Disneyland calendar only goes through July 21st, so it’s not clear when the refurbishment will end. There’s no additional information listed on the website at this time. Matterhorn Bobsleds On that same day, there are also refurbishments ongoing for Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition and Pirates of the Caribbean. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is currently closed in the park, but will reopen on June 12th. King Arthur Carrousel will also have a short closure this summer. ©Disney Closures and refurbishments can be added to the Disneyland calendar at any time, though they usually show up at least a few weeks out. It’s a good idea to check the calendar a couple of times leading up to your trip to see if any planned closures could affect you. You’ll need to go to the “Day View” section of the calendar and scroll down until you see “Closed for Refurbishment.” Don’t forget to check both parks, Downtown Disney, and the hotels! Small World! Knowing which rides, attractions, or restaurants will be closed can help eliminate that last-minute disappointment when you arrive in the parks. It also might give you the flexibility to reschedule your trip to go at a time when your favorite offering will have reopened. Most of the time, these closures are just for planned maintenance, but occasionally, Disneyland will update rides or change them for the season. Haunted Mansion typically closes in late summer to become Haunted Mansion Holiday, an incredible The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. Haunted Mansion Holiday Then, recently, we saw a brief closure at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, where it was updated to include new missions themed to The Mandalorian and Grogu. The ride now has new scenes, missions, and planets available, featuring beloved Star Wars characters from the new movie and hit Disney+ series. 21. One of the longest closures of the year across all the Orlando theme parks is none other than Jurassic Park River Adventure, located at Islands of Adventure in Universal Orlando. Jurassic Park River Adventure The attraction closed for the lengthy refurbishment on January 5th and currently isn’t expected to reopen until November 19th. It’s been behind walls practically ever since, but now, we’ve got a look at what’s really going on behind the scenes, all thanks to @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter! These aerial photos give us all a great view of what work is being done deeper in the ride, the parts that there’s no way we could see with the walls being up as they are. We’re now about halfway through the refurbishment, so the question stands: how much work has actually been done? Well, the iconic Ultrasaurus mechanical neck has finally returned after being gone for the majority of the project so far. @bioreconstruct on X Additionally, one of the boats has also returned. Previously, these had been stored over near Epic Universe after being wrapped in plastic, and now, at least one of them has returned to its home park. @bioreconstruct on X Looking through other outdoor sections of the ride, it really puts into perspective just how large this ride really is, especially considering it doesn’t even count the indoor refurbishment we can’t see. @bioreconstruct on X There’s also new wall construction happening over at the paddock area of the ride. Those walls are pretty high, and the scaffolding goes up alllll the way, signaling to us that this appears to be a pretty large part of the process. @bioreconstruct on X Just look at it from another angle — that’s a BIG section to work on! @bioreconstruct on X From the outside of the ride, at normal eye level, there’s also work being done on the roofing of the entrance building. This is where you walk to enter the queue for the attraction. @bioreconstruct on X While November feels like it’s worlds away, we know it’ll be here before we know it, and we’ll be able to ride again. 22. We are proud Disney Adults, and that means we might notice things that other people don’t notice. One of those things was new trash cans! EPCOT While it doesn’t seem very exciting to some, these small additions make us feel like the parks are getting a refresh. We saw them in EPCOT, but good news — you’re going to see more. These are solar trash cans where you can step down on the push-down bar, and the trash can will open without you having to touch anything, keeping you and the trash can cleaner throughout the day. New trash cans! We heard from Disney that we can expect to see more of these trash cans! More units are coming to EPCOT in the coming weeks, and eventually, the other three parks, Disney Springs, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and other locations throughout the year. Candy trash cans Now, a running joke for EPCOT festivals is that the tops of trash cans turn into tables since there are a lot of snacks to be had and not a lot of tables to sit at. Trash can table! We noticed that these new trash cans are a little slanted, so you might not want to set your dishes on top of them. With the foot pedal, it seems like everything will stay a little bit more sanitary. A bit slanted A big question we have is whether they’re going to be decorated for the EPCOT festivals. For some festivals like the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, they decorate them with Orange Bird, but only a select few, usually by Creations. Orange Bird! Little details like this are always so exciting, and now we have to find some trash to throw away. In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news. 23. Thanks to the addition of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and a massive increase in the usage of EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance thanks to the Skyliner, the World Showcase’s France Pavilion — and its Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie — has gotten much busier in recent years, and it’s created an issue. Quite the line! Les Halles is a traditional French bakery which offers a full menu, ranging from soups and salads to fresh baguette sandwiches and pastries, as well as wine, champagne, beer, and gourmet coffees. However, one thing the eatery doesn’t offer? Mobile Order. Without mobile ordering as an option, Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie is often swarmed by guests, with lines streaming out of the building, and tables in the seating area consistently filled to capacity. So, what’s an EPCOT guest to do? Well, the key is visiting at the right time of day. Quite the line! Now, to be clear, there is no time of day when Les Halles is empty, so we’re talking about comparative “less busy” times here. With that out of the way, let’s talk crowds. The eatery gets busy early in the morning, as many guests streaming through the International Gateway entrance to EPCOT head there for a morning snack, and remains so through the lunch rush. Guests waiting at the International Gateway in EPCOT for rope drop Things pick up again at the park’s final few hours of operation, as guests stop by for a pastry and coffee before settling into their spot on the World Showcase Lagoon to watch Luminous or leave the park for the evening. France is so pretty at night! That leaves an afternoon window of roughly 3 PM to 6 PM, where things are slightly less busy. (Again, the word “slightly” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.) Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie So, whether you find yourself a spot during that window or simply decide to wait out the long lunchtime lines, what should you get? Honestly, there are few, if any, “wrong” choices as the Les Halles menu is one of the most consistent on Disney World property. However, we do have some favorites! If you want to study up on the full menu, our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! Menu at Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie If you’re looking for a hearty lunch, the Jambon Beurre remains one of our go-to staples. This $10.95 ham and cheese sandwich is served on a demi baguette slathered with Dijon Mustard Butter. Jambon Beurre As we wrote last year, “What’s not to love about this? You’ve got that Dijon mustard that adds the perfect tang against the salty ham and cheese. You can even have it toasted if you want, which gets the cheese all nice and melty.” Jambon Beurre from Les Halles If you’re looking for something a bit sweeter, you can pick up the Citron for $7.95. This flaky puff pastry is filled with a lemon cream base and topped with a generous pile of fresh blueberries. Anyone with a soft spot for lemon desserts will enjoy this one Citron at Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie If you’re not feeling something quite that tart, however, there’s the Café Liégeois. This $7.50 treat is a coffee-flavored dessert made with a light, fluffy mousse layered over chocolate cake crumbles, topped with a generous swirl of whipped cream and a sprinkle of crispy pearls. We found this treat to be creamy, light, and just indulgent enough to make it feel like a sophisticated sweet treat. Café Liégeois If you’re planning to grab a bite at Les Halles during your next Disney World trip, you may want to target a mid-late afternoon lunch. 24. Happy Meals from McDonald’s are something we keep a pretty close eye on, for a number of different reasons. McDonald’s Happy Meal For one, there’s a McDonald’s on Disney World property, so when you’re on a trip and you want a taste of home or something that’s outside of the actual theme parks, it’s a common spot to end up. On the other hand, we’re genuinely just suckers for the Happy Meal toys that come out, because we ARE collectors and we’re not afraid to admit it! While the new Happy Meal toys aren’t Disney themed, they ARE Squishmallows, and you can bet that we’ll be collecting each and every one. The FIFA World Cup is right around the corner, and to celebrate, McDonald’s is teaming up with Squishmallows to bring them back to their Happy Meals starting TODAY, June 9th! Squishmallows are already very popular Happy Meal toys, but these guys are wearing different jerseys to represent the teams playing in the World Cup this year, which we know will make them even MORE popular. ©McDonald’s Based on the promo photo, we can see a bat, a cat, a llama, a shark, a walrus, a pineapple, and numerous other options available. That means there will likely be many McDonald’s trips in our future, so we can grab them all! These are only available at participating McDonald’s while supplies last, so we recommend acting fast. In the past, there were some McDonald’s that would just sell you the toys themselves, but that’s not guaranteed. It can’t hurt to ask, though! ©McDonald’s McDonald’s hasn’t said how long these Happy Meal toys will be available, but as the FIFA World Cup runs from June 11th through July 19th, it’s our assumption that they’ll be around for the vast majority of that timeframe. However, if they run out of their stock only a few weeks in, that could be all we see, so again, we recommend acting fast! More Recent News You May Have Missed!
