  2. The most IMPORTANT part of EPCOT’s transformation is here. CommuniCore Hall Over the last several years, EPCOT has — for better or worse — gone through a metamorphosis. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana have been added to the park’s attraction lineup, and the entirety of what used to be Future World has been radically redesigned. This past week, the final piece of EPCOT’s reinvention — CommuniCore Hall and Plaza — opened, and we’ve got a tour of the best part… The BRAND-NEW CommuniCore Hall BATHROOMS They’re ORANGE! Okay, so in truth there are certainly better parts of the new EPCOT, but you know how SERIOUSLY we take Disney World bathrooms, so a new one in a busy section of the resort does make us a bit giddy. A NEW bathroom As you can see, the new CommuniCore Hall bathrooms have a striking orange color scheme. Even the troff sinks are orange! CommuniCore Hall bathroom sinks We absolutely love this mirror design as well. It captures the classic EPCOT aesthetic as far as we’re concerned. We LOVE this mirror Interestingly, the children’s changing area features a slightly different color scheme with beiges and faux wood paneling. Changing Station Outside the entrance to the new restrooms, Disney has also installed a new water bottle refilling station. Water Station Disney describes CommuniCore Hall overall as being designed to “celebrate the architectural legacy of EPCOT, CommuniCore Hall features a façade of geodesic triangles, expressed in innovative materials and configurations—bringing energy and dynamism to the entire area throughout the day and into the night.” She’s so pretty at night! The CommuniCore Hall bathrooms, in all of their orange glory, are now open along with the entire festival area including the new Mickey and Friends meet-and-greet, quick-service Festival Favorites stand, and Encanto stage show. Stay tuned to DFB for more coverage of Walt Disney World… and its bathrooms. The Amazing Food HACK You Need To Know in EPCOT Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 3. Disney World is always expanding and it looks like the next big change is coming SOON to Disney Springs! Disney Springs Home to many fantastic stores and unforgettable dining experiences, Disney Springs has come a long way over the years. Its roster of offerings has constantly changed and evolved, and that will continue with news of a brand-new store opening soon! This Thursday, June 13th, 2024, Disney Springs will welcome ALOHA Collection at The Landing area of the district! ©ALOHA Collection On its Instagram page, ALOHA Collection advertised its new Disney Springs location and wrote that it is hosting a Grand Opening on June 13th at 10AM. ©ALOHA Collection ALOHA Collection offers tropical-themed accessories, apparel, and more. Notably, fans of the brand online were clamoring for a Disney teamup that will yield a new tropical-themed collection. While nothing has been confirmed, this is something we plan to keep an eye on and we’ll give you all the details if any updates materialize. The Landing at Disney Springs Additionally, June 13th will also feature the first day of Walt Disney World Annual Passholder previews for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom, so expect crowds to be hefty! As a reminder if you plan to participate in the preview, Virtual Queue spots open at 7AM and 1PM. You must have a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom to access the 7AM Virtual Queue and you must be inside Magic Kingdom to access the 1PM queue. ©Disney For all the latest Disney Springs and Disney World news, tips, and more, stay tuned right here at the Disney Food Blog! 4. EPCOT’s transformation is almost complete, or so we thought. EPCOT EPCOT has been receiving a MASSIVE overhaul over the last few years. While we have seen projects like the Mary Poppins ride and the Play Pavilion quietly go away, a lot of EPCOT’s transformation projects came to life! In December the World Celebration Gardens opened! Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana has been entertaining us and teaching us about the water cycle for months now! Plus we even got a new store and restaurant with the Creations Shop and Connections Eatery. And how could we forget about Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure? Well, we thought that EPCOT’S overhaul would be complete when CommuniCore Hall and Plaza open on June 10th. But it turns out EPCOT will be wall-less for about a week. CommuniCore Hall will open June 10th This is your friendly reminder that Test Track will close next week on June 17th! Why? Well because it is being reimagined! That is right Test Track will get a third iteration of the attraction! Test Track The ride will still be sponsored by Chevrolet. General Motors, who is the parent company of Chevrolet, has been a long-time sponsor of this pavilion since the attraction was World of Motion. It was announced that both Disney Imagineers and teams from Chevrolet will be working together to reach back into history. Test Track The reimagining will take inspiration from the original attraction that came before Test Track, World of Motion. As we said, World of Motion was sponsored by GM and was an opening day attraction at EPCOT. This attraction took you on a “time travel journey through the history of transportation.” The ride system was a little different than Test Track’s current system as World of Motion was an Omnimover system, like Haunted Mansion. ©Disney We can’t wait to see what the Imagineers and the teams at Chevrolet come up with as this will be the third version of Test Track. We can’t lie, we do miss the OG version of Test Track! We love you Test Track Crash Dummies! Test Track So if you want to say a proper goodbye to Test Track 2.0, make sure to visit EPCOT before the attraction closes on June 17th! We will make sure to keep you updated as more information about this new update comes out! Disney Fans’ Expectations for the New Test Track! Want MORE Details About EPCOT’s MASSIVE Transformation? 5. Today, June 10th is a BIG day in Disney World, friends! Animal Kingdom Not only is it the official opening day of CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza in EPCOT, but today, Disney’s Animal Kingdom starts celebrating the 30th Anniversary of The Lion King! Part of this massive celebration is two new meet-and-greets — come check them out with us! But that’s not all you can do over in Rafiki’s Planet Watch — you can also take part in their Animation Experience, where you’ll learn to draw a character from one of Disney’s animated films and be able to take that drawing home with you completely for free! Animation Experience You can also pet tons of different animals at the Affection Section! This is a super special experience, especially in Animal Kingdom, because most of the park allows you to LOOK at animals as long as you’d like, but here, you can pet them as much as you’d like! Affection Section Just as a heads up — Rafiki’s Planet Watch often closes earlier than other parts of the park, so be sure to check the times for the last train before you head over, or check the My Disney Experience App! Rafiki’s Planet Watch Looking for other ways you can celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Lion King in the park? There are 11 (!!!) new snacks that have just arrived in the park, and our team is there RIGHT NOW trying all of them to tell you what’s worth your money and what isn’t! Animal Kingdom Not to mention that Disney has just announced The Lion King is coming BACK to movie theaters for a limited time to celebrate the anniversary, starting on July 12th! There has been no official list released on where the film will be showing, or for how long, so be sure to check the listings of your local movie theater closer to July 12th to see if it’s playing near you. ©Disney We’re always here to help you plan for your next Disney World trip by keeping you updated with what’s happening in the parks, so stay tuned to DFB! 6. Today is a VERY exciting day in Magic Kingdom! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure doesn’t open to the public until June 28th, we got to ride for the SECOND time today! Not only that, we just got to take a look into the new shop that will be right at the exit queue for the ride, Tiana’s Bayou General! Tiana’s Bayou General will be located through the exit queue of the ride. You’ll be able to stop in and look around if you’d like, or you can pass on through to continue with your day. Tiana’s Bayou General Now, we were told that the store itself isn’t set up just yet, meaning that the actual merchandise that will be available for purchase is not in the store, but we did get a look at all the exciting theming! All along the walls, you’ll see the products that Tiana’s Foods sells that could be used in someone’s own recipes at home. The store! Cast Members were also set up to tell us more about the store and what we were seeing in the theming! Explaining more about the store We loved getting to see so many details that really solidified the theming, like this King Cake display on the wall! So many details! We also spotted a photo of Tiana on her travels, along with some of her travel gear and a lantern. You’ll have to really look closely! The biggest thing we got to see is the Commemorative Ride Photo Package which will be on sale for $32.95 plus tax. Commemorative Ride Photo Package Not only will you find your photo from the ride on the inside in the middle… Your ride photo! …but on the left, you’ll see a Thank You card, thanking you for celebrating Mardi Gras with Princess Tiana, as well as a photo of Tiana and her team opening Tiana’s Foods! The left And on the right, you’ll find Tiana’s recipe cards for World Famous Beignets and New Orleans Style Gumbo that you can actually follow at home! The right If you don’t want the whole package, you will also have the chance to just buy the physical photo, tap your MagicBand, or pass on your phone to the electronic circles to grab your photo digitally. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at night More souvenirs will be coming soon to Tiana’s Bayou General Store as well as at Critter Co-Op when the shops open. 8. Oh, Disney Cruise Line, how we love you! Daisy on Lookout Cay Cruising with Disney is VERY different from visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort because instead of rushing around the theme parks all day trying to accomplish everything you’re dreaming of, you’re relaxing on a boat, leisurely participating in whatever activities you choose. However, there are some limitations to what you can bring on a Disney Cruise that you may not be expecting, and this INCLUDES the newest cruise ship, the Disney Treasure. The Disney Treasure will be setting sail with guests on December 21st, 2024, and is the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Treasure celebrates Walt Disney’s love of adventure, and the design of the ship is “inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace,” and draws influences from Asia, Africa, and even Aladdin’s Agrabah. ©Disney We can’t wait to see the beautiful statue of Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Flying Carpet in the lobby… ©Disney …see Peter Pan and Captain Hook on the stern of the ship… ©Disney …and get to experience all the exciting new restaurants, entertainment, and exclusive offerings this ship has in store for guests. If you’re already mentally preparing your packing list though, we need to tell you — there are some items banned on Disney Cruise Line ships that you may not expect. They even took us by surprise! Be sure NOT to pack the following in your suitcase: Scissors with blades exceeding 4 inches Electric blankets Diffusers Extension cords, power strips, multi-plugs, and surge protectors Heating pads Musical instruments Over-the-door hanging organizers, over-the-door hooks Seasonal and/or strands of celebratory lightbulbs Frozen-inspired Stateroom on the Disney Wish Some of these items were a little surprising to us. For example, staterooms on Disney cruises don’t have THAT many outlets, and if you’re like our team, you may need to charge your phone, watch, MagicBand+, camera, camera batteries, EXTRA camera batteries, and more in one room, AND you may have more than one person in the room who needs to charge all those devices. So what are we supposed to do if we can’t bring multi-plugs? Disney Wish Stateroom Getting organized on a Disney Cruise is a little tough, especially if you’ve got a room filled with a lot of people. Usually, an over-the-door organizer is a great way to keep everyone’s stuff in the right place, but unfortunately, they are not allowed. Stateroom Shelves for extra storage on the Disney Wish Overall, some of these items may seem silly to ban because they can be really useful things to take with you, but Disney WILL check every bag through metal detectors and scanners before you board. So, if you bring something that’s not allowed, they WILL find it and it may hold up your boarding process or the amount of time it takes for your luggage to be sent to your room. 11. Now is a GREAT time to be a Disney World fan — so many exciting changes are happening! EPCOT We’re getting ready to celebrate the 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, not to mention the new meet and greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the official opening of CommuniCore Hall & Plaza in EPCOT — including another new meet and greet. And, we spotted another change because a new attraction has been added to Genie+ at EPCOT! A brand-new character meet and greet has now officially opened at EPCOT! The Mickey & Friends Disney Pals meet and greet is just one of the new experiences that you can now enjoy thanks to the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza. Previously, Disney just said that “Mickey & Friends” would be at this meet-and-greet, but we later learned it will always feature Mickey and at least one friend — but sometimes more! The Main Mouse You can check out our meet and greet experience here, but that’s not the only update we have to share. The Mickey & Friends meet and greet at CommuniCore Hall has been added to the Genie+ lineup for EPCOT! This means that if you purchase the standard Genie+ for the day, you’ll be able to reserve a Lightning Lane and come back to hang out with these pals at a later time. You can find it by searching “Meet Beloved Disney Pals at Mickey & Friends,” or by checking out your Tip Board on the My Disney Experience app. ©Disney You can also view the most up-to-date wait times along with the meet and greet hours, location, and a brief description about what you can expect. As of now, Disney Cast Members confirmed characters in this meet-and-greet area will meet with guests continuously all day just as they do at Pete’s Silly Sideshow and Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom. ©Disney There is a Disney PhotoPass Photographer stationed at the meet-and-greet, and they can take a photo of you and the characters. Remember that it costs extra to get those photos later on, so if you don’t want to pay for them, you can also ask them to take a pic using your own phone or camera! To learn more about PhotoPass and how much those pictures cost, click HERE. Mickey and Goofy! CommuniCore Hall is a brand-new building that is now open as of June 10th,2024, and it’s all about EPCOT’s seasonal festivals. It’s located inside CommuniCore Plaza, which is an outdoor area that has stages for live music, gardens, and other decorations. Inside the Hall, you can check out a new Encanto show, gallery space, demonstration kitchens, and a mixology bar. WELCOME to CommuniCore Hall! Now that CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are OFFICALLY open, that also means we are seeing a huge change on the EPCOT map. This area used to be a green space on the My Disney Experience app map, but now you can see the structure. This has been years in the making, and it is so exciting to finally see the map filled out! ©Disney We know — this is A LOT of news and even more exciting updates will be on their way to Disney World soon, so don’t forget to stay tuned to DisneyFoodBlog to keep up with everything you need to know before your next trip! 12. We simply can’t get enough beignets so when we heard a new one was available at the Disneyland Resort, we couldn’t help but rush over to try it! Beignets Expressed Downtown Disney is full of great shops and eateries, and one of our absolute favorites is Beignets Expressed! Serving a wide variety of beignets, this small shop next to Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill and Patio is currently offering a new glazed beignet of the month and we tried it — here’s what we thought! The new beignet-of-the-month you can get at Beignets Expressed is the Glazed Apple Pie à la Mode Beignet! Glazed of the Month – Apple Pie à la Mode This June 2024 offering is served hot and is made with apple pie-flavored icing, cinnamon sugar, and vanilla bean crème anglaise. The 4-pack costs $16.99. Beignets Expressed menu These beignets were VERY sweet! We found them to be ooey, gooey, and delicious. We were also big fans of their soft texture. However, we felt they weren’t so much “Apple Pie à la Mode” and were kind of closer to apple fritter donuts in taste. In our opinion, the beignets would’ve been better served with some apple chunks to enhance the texture and flavor. These beignets also had no ice cream element, which was a real missed opportunity. They have a great apple aftertaste, and some sort of ice cream addition would have taken these from a good dessert to a great one. Tasty! Overall, these are super solid beignets and ideal to share. The desired apple taste is there, but the missing elements have us longing for what could have been. Still, we think apple fans will like this and we recommend you try them out and let us know your review! We definitely dream about beignets! Have you tried these beignets? 13. There are lots of food options in Disney World, but sometimes it can be a challenge to find a quiet, comfortable, cool place to enjoy your meals. As we enter into the hottest months at Disney World, we wanted to share a food hack with you that you can take advantage of while you are in EPCOT. EPCOT This hack is like a new take on the Coral Reef experience, but for way less money than you would spend at Coral Reef Restaurant. While this hack does not include food from Coral Reef, we think you are going to love the view. Instead of having food from Coral Reef, we are heading to a nearby restaurant, and you may even find yourself closer to the aquariums while you dine! To start, head over to Sunshine Seasons located inside of The Land Pavilion. You can choose from a variety of food options and request a to-go box to package up your food. As well, if you choose to get a drink, the coffee lids in the self-service beverage section will fit on top of the regular and kids size cups. While Sunshine Seasons does offer a very large dining area with air conditioning, the space can get loud and chaotic when it is busy. It offers a good people watching spot, but if you are hoping for a more exciting view that is usually a bit quieter, we got you covered! Sunshine Seasons Once you have gotten your food and packaged it up for travel, we are going to head out of The Land Pavilion and take a left. Head into The Seas Pavilion, which is the pavilion with The Seas with Nemo & Friends attraction. In addition to this ride, there is also a massive aquarium. You can access this space without riding the ride, by staying to the left of the ride’s entrance. Once inside the aquarium, head upstairs and follow the hallway through the aquarium which will lead you to a few bench seats. Take a seat! You will be able to see all sorts of sea life including fish, turtles, and rays. You can always take advantage of this space without grabbing food too. However, we think it makes it extra special if you can snack on some food while enjoying the views. Enjoy your food by the aquariums We confirmed with Cast Members that you are welcome to eat in this area. Not only do you get a wonderful view of the aquariums, but you can also enjoy cold air coming out of the vents. You can get some prime viewing and escape the sometimes-chaotic dining area of Sunshine Seasons. It is hard to beat the view! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from Sunshine Seasons while enjoying a pretty awesome view. You can also enjoy this space without bringing a snack, or you can also bring a snack from elsewhere in the park. If you are looking to grab something from somewhere other than Sunshine Seasons, make sure you check out our video ranking EPCOT snacks for under $10: We are always on the hunt for the best tips and tricks for your Disney World vacation. 15. A lot of changes are happening in the Disney World parks currently. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure The Country Bear Jamboree is being refurbished in Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is getting ready to make its grand opening this summer, and Test Track will be closing this year to undergo a massive transformation. But that’s not all — over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a live show is finally returning in a NEW way, and now we have more details! Disney announced back in late 2023 that a new Little Mermaid show would finally be coming to replace Voyage of The Little Mermaid, which has been closed ever since the 2020 park closures. The new show is called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and casting began for it back in February. ©Disney Now, we’ve FINALLY gotten some new details on this updated under-the-sea-extravaganza! During a media event in June of 2024, Sarah Schmidt and James Stilson of Disney’s Live Entertainment division revealed a slew of information about “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.” From a story standpoint, the show has been re-told to be almost entirely from Ariel’s point of view, right down to the set and stage which is “inspired by the way a teenager would decorate their walls.” To further this theme, the show will also feature two Ariel-centric songs that weren’t present in the original version — “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl.” The upcoming revamped ‘The Little Mermaid’ Show According to Schmidt, “We’re totally focused on telling the story through Ariel’s point of view.” “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” No official opening date for the show was confirmed, with Disney simply saying it was still scheduled for “later this year.” More Hollywood Studios News! 16. A modern Disney superstar recently visited EPCOT! Journey of Water We see posts from celebrities that they were in the parks from time to time, and we always wish we were there to meet them. It’s cool to know that they share our love of Disney World and Disneyland. What’s really neat is when we find out that a star from a Disney movie got to visit their character or movie attraction, which is what just happened recently in EPCOT! At one point Cravalho extolls the attraction’s water conservation message, and jokingly suggests that should be the plot Moana 2. ©Disney Cravalho will be returning for Moana 2, which is being released in theaters later this year. The film will also see co-star Dwayne Johnson return as Maui. Behind the scenes, the film is written and directed by David G. Derrick Jr. and Mark Mancina, Opetaia Foa’i, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear will serve as composers and songwriters. Lin Manuel Miranda is not returning for the sequel. ©Disney Johnson will also reprise his role as Maui in the 2026 live action adaptation of Moana, however Cravalho will not. The Mean Girls actress revealed that while she will keep voicing Moana in animated projects, she wanted to “pass the baton” as far as the live action portrayal. “When I was cast as Moana at 14, it wonderfully changed my life and started my career. In this live action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital that the casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell, so as an executive producer on the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit and emotional strength.” ©Disney She expanded on her choice in a later interview, saying “It feels really important to me to pass the baton to the next young woman of Pacific Island descent, and I say that with my whole chest … I am one of the few Pacific Islanders. And our stories are so important to be told… I want to be behind the camera as much as I am in front of it. When I talk about representation, I want to see the same thing happening in writers’ rooms. I want to see the same thing happening with directors. And Taika Waititi talks about this as well, I wanna see showrunners who are also of indigenous descent telling their own stories. I want that door to swing wide open, and I cannot wait to meet the next Moana.” ©Disney Despite not returning for the live action Moana film, Auli’i Cravalho’s visit to EPCOT’s Moana attraction shows the link between actress and character will forever endure. 17. We’ve seen so many changes in Disney World just over the past four years. Luminous This is especially true with nighttime entertainment. In Magic Kingdom, Disney introduced the Disney Enchantment fireworks show to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. So here’s the thing…fans still preferred the Happily Ever After fireworks show, which ended up making a return once the 50th anniversary celebration had ended. Could we see something similar happen in EPCOT? Okay, so let’s get back to Disney Enchantment. The fireworks show was never a big hit with Disney World fans, who insisted that Happily Ever After was the better nighttime show. So Disney brought back Happily Ever After and even updated the show, adding projections along Main Street, U.S.A., which many Disney fans believe made it even better. For many Disney World visitors, Happily Ever After is a show that should NOT be missed. Happily Ever After Over in EPCOT, many fans actually complained about the 50th anniversary nighttime show, Harmonious. Most preferred the previous nighttime show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, which hasn’t been performed at EPCOT since 2019. After that, EPCOT Forever served as a filler nighttime show until Harmonious premiered. Harmonious ended in April 2023, at which time EPCOT Forever returned to fill in until a new show, Luminous The Symphony of Us premiered later in the year. Luminous So here’s the thing, where folks talked a LOT about Harmonious (usually, critically), we’re not hearing much of anything about Luminous, which seems somehow worse. If anything, no one seems to care much for Luminous, like it’s just there. It’s certainly not a show that we see recommended as a must-see in Disney World. It doesn’t seem to be a show that Disney fans hate, but more of a show that they’re just ambivalent about. This new show just isn’t really making its mark. Luminous So what does this mean? Well, Luminous was meant to act as a sort of tribute to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, so could it end so that a previous show could return to EPCOT? We’re not talking about EPCOT Forever, either, which has always been a sort of temporary show between shows. We’re wondering if Luminous might not go the way of Harmonious and be replaced with a new version of Illuminations? IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth For one thing, like Happily Ever After, Illuminations is a fan-favorite show, and if you ask many Disney fans, many might say that it’s better than both Harmonious and Luminous. With Luminous getting such lackluster attention, we can’t help but think Disney might decide to bring back a more popular show like Illuminations. Of course, Disney has not yet revealed any such intention, but well, we can dream, right? Illuminations We’ll have to keep an eye out to see if Disney might be considering bringing back Illuminations, but for now, we’ll just have to enjoy Luminous A Symphony of Us while we can. 18. Friends…it’s FINALLY TIME! EPCOT We’ve been waiting YEARS for EPCOT’s Transformation to be complete, and now, another huge step forward has been taken — Communicore Hall and Communicore Plaza open on June 10th — and we got to go inside to bring you this preview! Communicore Hall and Plaza are a new festival center that will bring EPCOT’s iconic festivals throughout the year to the center of the park. Communicore Plaza is an outdoor space where guests can enjoy the festival offerings, while Communicore Hall is flexible enough to host a myriad of different things — food stalls, exhibition, mixology class, and so much more! CommuniCore Hall But what does that all really LOOK like? We’re finding out right now! We got the opportunity to step inside the CommuniCore Hall for the first time and boy, was it impressive! There’s so much space inside this massive building and there seems to be room to fill it with even more later. While it didn’t look much like the original concept artwork Disney had previously released for the inside, we think because we were attending a special event at the time, we could see this change in the near future. Stepping inside for the first time! So aside from a massive open area to gather, what else is there to do? Let’s look around! We noticed right away there is a fun EPCOT photo op inside where you can step up to take a few commemorative photos in front! Disney World is full of these fun designs and wall murals! EPCOT photo op As we looked around we noticed signs signifying each of EPCOT’s four worlds — World Nature, World Discovery, World Celebration, and World Showcase. Inside CommuniCore Hall You’ll find them hung around the tops of the walls inside the massive open space. More of the hall There’s even room for a live band inside! Now we’ve got to show you what else you can expect to find inside the main hall. A live band inside Mickey and Friends is where you’ll find an opportunity to meet with Mickey and his pals just like you used to do in EPCOT at the former Character Spot. Mickey & Friends When we stepped in line we waited outside and were able to take advantage of looking at all the colorful designs on the mural on the outside of the wall. We were able to pick out Minnie… Minnie in the mural …Mickey… Mickey …a few nods to attractions that used to be found around EPCOT (bonus points to you if you know or rode the ride referenced here)… Horizons nod …and even a few current nods to attractions still found around EPCOT today! Mission Space and the Monorail As we stepped inside, we were led down a cool hallway with some funky lighting which really grabbed our attention… Fun lighting …before being brought into the room where we could meet with our friends! Here, we got to meet with Mickey… Mickey’s NEW Greeting Spot in EPCOT! …Minnie… Minnie …and Goofy all in their classic outfits! Goofy! With this new space opening, you’ll no longer have to go around to several spots within EPCOT to meet these characters and they’ll be available throughout the day! We’re told that Mickey will be the staple character here to meet and greet, and the other two spots will be rotating characters. So it may be worth visiting multiple times! After we had a chance to get our hugs and all the pictures in, we stepped outside into the CommuniCore Plaza and its huge outdoor space! Seriously y’all… we didn’t imagine it would be THIS expansive from the ground. This space is made of several concrete walkways around the entire plaza with a few green patches that are a bit softer for those who might want a squishier ground or a place to sit and relax for a bit. CommuniCore Plaza We think this will make for a very lively spot nightly to take in all of the entertainment because a live Latin band will be present to keep your evening rocking! A Latin band was playing That’s right! This space will be used all the time and not just during the day for the show! Ah, which brings us to our next point — EPCOT’s new stage show you’ll find here! ¡Celebración Encanto! is about a 20-minute sing-along show where you’ll get to belt out some of the songs from Disney’s animated film, Encanto. Super interactive show We found this show to be incredibly lively, and full of fun and laughter, and the hosts even brought several of the kids up on stage to help out with a few of the storytelling elements in the songs! Interactive for kids If you’re not familiar with the words, don’t worry! They’ll have them up on a big screen for you to see along with lyrics in Spanish, too! Between performances, your hosts will ask you trivia questions and introduce you to simple words in Espanol so you can learn a little while also being entertained! Trivia on screen From what we could see, the kids attending had a BLAST and that was taken to a whole new level when we were surprised by Mirabel AND Bruno coming out to say hello! After a quick song which somehow ended in a conga line (don’t ask — it all happened so fast and we were swept up in the moment) it was time to say “Adios” to the celebration for now. Bruno and Mirabel If you’re wondering if there’s a nearby bathroom, you won’t have to go far! Bathroom The bathrooms are accessible from the outside of the building and we appreciated their sleek design! We found them to be very retro inside with orange and the most prominently featured color! Loving the orange Along with the entrance to the bathrooms, you’ll find a refillable water bottle station and water fountain! Water fountain and refill station The last spot we have to show you is Festival Favorites. It looks almost like a quick service window and we’re told to expect it to be open during EPCOT’s festivals. Lit up as it gets dark There’s A LOT to take in and see at EPCOT’s newest addition! 19. We’re DEFINITELY talking about this new Disney World show. ©Disney Earlier this year, Disney announced that a new Encanto show would be coming to EPCOT this summer. At the time, the company announced that “¡Celebración Encanto!” would run on the new CommuniCore Plaza stage as part of the grand opening of the newly reimagined portion of EPCOT now known as World Celebration. The show opens June 10th, but we got a chance to see a preview! This new family-friendly interactive show is very similar to the Frozen Sing-Along found in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is a wildly popular attraction. ¡Celebración Encanto! The show begins with two hosts introducing themselves, and they’re soon joined by four dancers. Between the songs, the hosts ask the audience some trivia questions and teaches them some Spanish words, but the audience participation doesn’t stop there! The two hosts Right after the song “Family Madrigal,” the dancers choose a few volunteers from the audience to hold props and become the people who have been sung about in the song! Props! Then, during Isabella’s solo song “What Else Can I Do?” the dancers bring up a group of volunteers from the audience and teach them a fun line dance routine. Super interactive show And lastly, during “Pressure,” multiple kids are brought up to the stage to stand on a platform and show off their strength by making various poses — it was very cute! It’s so sweet! Finally, Mirabel and Bruno make their appearance during “Mi Encanto” and then head into the audience to start a massive dance party. While the show itself takes about 20 minutes, the dance party runs an additional 10 minutes. ¡Celebración Encanto! ¡Celebración Encanto!” is scheduled to run several times throughout the day on the CommuniCore Plaza stage from June 10th through September 6th. 20. We love our EPCOT festivals dearly, but there’s one thing that makes us sad every time — they end. CommuniCore Hall Distance makes the heart grow fonder, we guess, but that still doesn’t mean we don’t long for our favorite festival eats when they’re not around. We thought this problem may be solved with the opening of CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza happening on June 10th, but now we’re second-guessing. We got a sneak peek at this new festival hub tonight, and we still have BIG questions about this new festival booth. There’s a new permanent festival booth inside CommuniCore Hall called Festival Favorites. We were crossing our fingers and hoping that this was exactly what it sounded like — a spot where we could grab some of our favorite festival offerings year round! Festival Favorites booth However…we don’t really know what this booth is. Yes, it says Festival Favorites, but we couldn’t find any menu. When we asked Disney officials about the booth, we were told it IS a festival booth that will be open during festival days — so that doesn’t sound like it will be open yearround. We were also told that there could be tests of the booth, so you may find it open on non-festival days! Festival Favorites Sign The CommuniCore Plaza area can hold a LOT of people, so we have a feeling this would be a very popular booth at all times of the year, because so many people will be stopping by to relax, listen to some live music, or see what the current festival has going on in CommuniCore Hall right next door. So much space here! And we found out that not only will the new ¡Celebración Encanto! show be running through September 6th, 2024, drawing people in, but a live band will be playing latin music each night! Talk about a relaxing way to end your EPCOT day. ¡Celebración Encanto! 21. We love EPCOT at night — especially because of Spaceship Earth. <3 We could sit and watch the nighttime light shows on this ICON for hours! But now, a new Encanto-themed show is debuting in EPCOT — and Disney just dropped some NEWS about some new evening entertainment, as well! We just got a preview of the all-new CommuniCore Hall and Plaza — which opens June 10th smack dab in the middle of EPCOT. And yeah, it’s looking gorgeous in the twilight, too. She’s so pretty at night! We also got to experience ¡Celebración Encanto! — a new sing-a-long stage show on the CommuniCore Plaza Stage — for the first time! You can read all about it right here! ¡Celebración Encanto! The Encanto show will be performed during the day in EPCOT, but we just learned about additional entertainment coming to this stage in the evenings! New evening entertainment in EPCOT! Disney said we can expect to see Latin bands performing in CommuniCore Plaza during the evenings this summer, including this band — La Calle! 22. A NEW Disney character meet-and-greet location is about to open in EPCOT, and we can’t wait for you to see it. EPCOT Previously, you could meet Disney pals at the Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, but Mickey and the gang decided it was time for an UPGRADE, so let’s head to the brand-new CommuniCore Hall to check out the new spot! CommuniCore Hall is a brand-new building opening on June 10th,2024 that’s all about EPCOT’s seasonal festivals. It’s located inside CommuniCore Plaza, which is the outdoor area that has stages for live music, gardens, and other decorations. Inside the Hall, you can check out a new Encanto show, gallery space, demonstration kitchens, and a mixology bar. Mickey & Friends There’s a lot of cool stuff to see inside, but we’re here for MICKEY! There’s actually a separate entrance for the character meet-and-greet, and it’s located in the Mickey & Friends space. To find the room if you’re already in the Hall, go out to the Plaza and head left around the corner. Indoor queue for Mickey and Friends meet-and-greet Previously, Disney just said that “Mickey & Friends” would be at this meet-and-greet, but now we know it will always feature Mickey and at least one friend (sometimes there will be two). There are no guarantees as to who will be with him during each meet-and-greet, so, unfortunately, you can’t plan ahead. Mickey and Goofy! As of now, Disney Cast Members confirmed characters in this meet-and-greet area will meet with guests continuously all day just as they do at Pete’s Silly Sideshow and Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom. Hey Minnie! There is a Disney PhotoPass Photographer stationed at the meet-and-greet, and they can take a photo of you and the characters. Remember that it costs extra to get those photos later on, so if you don’t want to pay for them, you can also ask them to take a pic using your own phone or camera! To learn more about PhotoPass and how much those pictures cost, click HERE. The Main Mouse A fun fact about this area is that there are a bunch of hidden EPCOT nods in there in the artwork! The artwork gives fun nods to EPCOT Be sure to check out the finer details while you’re saying “hi!” to your favorite characters! Hiya Goofy! This isn’t the only spot to meet characters in EPCOT — Don’t forget to say hello to Anna and Elsa from Frozen in the Norway pavilion, wave to Princess Jasmine in the Morocco pavilion, and watch for Donald Duck in the Mexico pavilion! Donald meeting guests in Mexico We also frequently see rare characters pop up near the International Gateway (the back entrance of EPCOT, where the Skyliner station is), so watch for some Disney pals over there. Those meet-and-greets are more random, but nearby Cast Members may have information about who could appear on the day you visit. 23. EPCOT is at the dawn of a NEW ERA, and WE WERE THERE. EPCOT For the last several years, EPCOT has been in the midst of a massive transformation. New attractions including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Moana Journey of Water have, for better or worse, changed the face of the park forever. Now, one of the final pieces of this reimagining is complete! Don’t worry, you won’t have to sing if you’re not up for it, but it will be awfully hard staying still! We found ourselves moving and clapping along to the music that holds a similar chokehold on us to how Disney’s Hollywood Studios has For The First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along does at its park. Super interactive show The dancers and hosts invited several kids to come up and participate on the stage to some of the songs where they were invited to hold props that help tell the story within the song like during “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” Props! Toward the end of the show we also were surprised again (man, those just keep coming tonight) by Mirabel AND Bruno. We know we’re not supposed to talk about him, but seriously, that guy’s got some moves! The Madrigal siblings started a CONGA LINE (YESSSS) within the crowd… Cassie says we can talk about Bruno, just not this conga line … and (at least for Cassie), Bruno’s nervous energy was palpable. Oh well, this seems like the most fun he’s had in a while so, we’ll let it slide, ha! Um, Bruno… where are we going? At the end of the show, we did have to say goodbye to the notable characters, dancers, and show hosts but we found it to be super heartwarming, lively, interactive, and fun. The kids attending seemed to really enjoy it! In between songs, the hosts will play games with trivia questions and teach simple Spanish words (which we thought was a cool feature)! Trivia on screen We also checked out that Festival Favorites food booth — what’s going on with it? Festival Favorites When we asked about it, we were told it should open with festivals — but that we might see it open for some tests on non-festival days, too. Coming soon? You know we’ll be keeping an eye out for menus soon with this new food spot! We also spotted EPCOT’s newest bathrooms within the CommuniCore Hall building. We love how hidden they look against the rest of the vibrant design in a deeper navy and light blue contrast… Bathrooms …AND we especially loved that there’s also a water fountain and bottle refill station out front of it! Water fountain and refill station Once inside, we took a quick peek into the color scheme here, and we should have known that it would be vibrant! Orange is the running color throughout, and we think they totally rocked it! Orange is the vibe here After we had time to tour the plaza and the outside of the building, it was time to wind down our evening and take in the changing lights around the CommuniCore Hall’s exterior! She’s so pretty at night! We think this new space is going to fit in just fine within the World Celebration Gardens and we’re eager to officially welcome in EPCOT’s final BIG piece of its years-long transformation!
