  2. The Magic Kingdom’s upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean lounge looks to take inspiration from one of Disney’s most successful eateries of the 21st century, and we’re hoping that goes all the way down to the tiki mugs! ©Disney The Beak and Barrel, scheduled to open later this year, will be themed as a pirate bar founded by the “legendary pirate rumrunner” Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, and her “talkative first mate” Rummy, an animatronic parrot who will “keep an eye on the place” from a roost atop the bar.” Looking at the concept art for the new space, we can’t help but note some similarities to another of Disney’s themed lounge concepts: Trader Sam’s. Trader Sam’s! Both the original Trader Sam’s at the Disneyland Hotel and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort feature intricate theme and interactive elements, the same type that are scheduled to be part of the Beak and Barrel. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar For example, the bar’s Captain’s Quarters room will feature “five ships in a bottle sitting on the mantle mounted above the fireplace that are “rumored to represent pirates from every corner of the world banding together to defeat tyranny.” According to Disney, guests should “keep a weathered eye out, as these mysterious bottles have been known to come alive and engage in a fearsome battle.” ©Disney So, with these similarities noted, we’re hoping another of Trader Sam’s trademark offerings comes to The Beak and Barrel — TIKI MUGS. The four we hope to see at the start include: Davey Jones ©Disney One of the most visually distinctive characters in the Pirates film franchise, Davey Jones, also appeared as a projection in the attraction. The Redhead Redd The iconic Redd herself should be one of the first pirates immortalized as a mug. Naturally, we’re hoping she’s cast and painted in red. The Black Pearl The Nautilus Over the years, several vehicles have been made into tiki mugs and bowls, including the Nautilus, meaning that Jack Sparrow’s iconic ship would make a perfect deluxe addition to any collection. The Dog Holding the Keys Finally, a Pirates of the Caribbean collection of mugs would be incomplete without the best-known theme park-specific Disney dog. ©Funko As we eagerly await Beak and Barrel’s “maiden voyage,” we’re hoping this new Magic Kingdom lounge takes inspiration from the iconic Trader Sam’s. Welcome to Hong Kong Disneyland! We’re currently celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland RIGHT NOW. Well, we’re also celebrating one of Disney’s international parks, Hong Kong Disneyland, because it just turned 20! So we made our way to Hong Kong Disneyland to check out everything you can see and do for the big celebration. So let’s take a look at all the Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary entertainment! Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle! We started our day in Hong Kong Disneyland with a show in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams. Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle This show was created just for the park’s 20th anniversary and invites guests to groove along with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald, with Duffy and Friends. This is 30 minutes of fun you don’t want to miss. Also, be on the lookout for surprises and Easter eggs. Mickey and his friends kick off the parade, and they are having a jam session on their float. Who knew Donald played sax? For the first time ever, Duffy and all his friends are all together on a float! Duffy and friends float You’ll also see some other familiar faces from your favorite Disney and Pixar movies, including Toy Story… Woody and Buzz …Encanto… Gorgeous Encanto float …Zootopia, and more! Nick and Judy These floats are gorgeous, and the parade is a lot of fun, so you’ll want to catch that, too. Momentous: Party in the Sky You can’t end a day at a Disney park without fireworks, and Hong Kong Disneyland has gone ALL OUT with a 20th anniversary addition to Momentous, Party in the Sky. A special prelude was created just for the celebration, extending the nighttime fireworks show to almost 30 minutes. It really is a party in the sky@ There are fireworks, special projects down the entire length of Main Street, U.S.A., and drone choreography — and it is spectacular. Drones! Hong Kong Disneyland is throwing an epic party, so if you have a chance to check it out, you’ll have plenty to wow you during your time there. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 4. If there’s one thing we know about Disney trips, it’s that your feet will not cut you any slack. You’ll be doing a TON of walking on these streets. You’ll be standing in lines, trekking across parks, chasing Mobile Orders, and power-walking to rope drop. Which is why we basically sprinted to our keyboards to let you in on this: There’s a secret Birkenstock sale happening on Amazon right now — and yes, these are the real-deal, made-in-Germany Birkenstocks that you see on everyone from trendsetters to theme park warriors. Let’s just say your feet (and your park stamina) are about to level up. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Birkenstock Women’s Arizona Sandals ©Amazon You can’t talk Birkenstocks without starting with the OG: the Arizona. It’s got the iconic cork footbed that molds to your foot like it was custom-made, the sturdy leather upper, and the minimalist two-strap look that somehow goes with everything. These sandals have been perfecting comfort since 1774—no techy gimmicks, just a shoe that works. If you’ve never owned a pair, this is the one to start with. View on Amazon Birkenstock Women’s Arizona Soft Footbed Sandals ©Amazon Same look as the classic Arizona, but with a little extra “ahhhh.” The soft footbed version adds an extra foam layer that brings the comfort level to peak Disney-all-day status. They’re made from super lightweight EVA, so they’re waterproof, shock-absorbing, and skin-friendly. Whether you’re navigating the World Showcase or hitting every snack stand in Magic Kingdom, these are going to treat your feet right. View on Amazon Birkenstock Women’s Arizona Sandal ©Amazon If you want something just a little different but still classic, this fashion range version of the Arizona keeps the same iconic structure — with suede lining, arch support, and cork comfort—but has some style variations for those looking to switch it up. Same German craftsmanship. Same all-day wearability. Different colorway. View on Amazon Birkenstock Milano Unisex Leather Sandal ©Amazon This one’s got that rugged, laid-back energy that works just as well in the parks as it does back at the hotel. Made with oiled nubuck leather in a rich “habana” color, it has a natural, lived-in look that gets better over time. It’s got the same contoured cork footbed you expect from Birkenstock, plus that adjustable two-strap design for a secure, comfortable fit. If you’re going for easy style with all-day support, this pair delivers. View on Amazon Birkenstock Boston Suede Clogs ©Amazon Let’s talk clogs. The Boston is like the cozy hoodie of the Birkenstock lineup: always a good choice, super dependable, and basically the definition of comfort. This suede version has a contoured cork-latex footbed that gets better every time you wear it. The buckle is adjustable, the suede is soft, and the vibe is low-key cool. This one’s a year-round go-to — especially for travel days or chilly park mornings. View on Amazon Birkenstock Men’s Open-Back Arizona Black Eva ©Amazon These are the Birkenstocks you throw on when you’re heading to the pool, walking the dog, or rinsing off your feet after a day in the sand. Honestly, this is the perfect “back at the resort” sandal. Throw them in your park bag, and you’ll thank yourself later. Plus, the material gives it that laid-back-but-still-put-together vibe. View on Amazon Birkenstock Women’s Boston Soft Footbed Clogs ©Amazon These come with the soft footbed, which includes an extra foam layer that cushions your every step. The suede lining and flexible EVA sole mean these can go the distance, whether you’re park-hopping or running errands at home. It’s a slip-on that doesn’t quit. 6. We know there has been a lot of Universal Studios news lately, especially with the opening of Epic Universe, the new third park in Orlando, which has been happening recently. Universal Orlando With all the news, you might have forgotten that Universal is opening a theme park in the United Kingdom in 2031. They’ve just taken a huge step forward in creating this new park, and we’re getting pretty excited. Universal Destinations & Experiences submitted a request to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government for planning permission through a Special Development Order. Once this request is received, we will start to see bigger movement and plans for the park begin to develop. ©Universal | UK Theme Park In this request, we got a sneak peek at some features in the theme park. This will be a “world-class theme park with several themed lands, visitor accommodation, as well as a range of retail, dining, and entertainment uses.” This might sound like every theme park we’ve seen, but it will also be one of the largest employers in the region, and they continuously call it “the entertainment resort complex.” Universal Orlando CityWalk Approximately 80% of the employees are expected to come from Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes, with an estimated 28,000 jobs created. They believe it will make a £50 billion economic benefit for Bedfrod and the UK economy. ©Universal Universal has been conducting surveys and speaking with “the Bedford Borough Council, neighbouring authorities, national government, transport and environmental bodies, and local communities.” In an April 2024 survey 92% showed support for the project. ©Universal via BBC What’s happening next? Well, plans need to be approved! There will be an Environmental statement, along with additional documents, plans, and drawings. We can’t wait for more drawings so we can get a better idea of what Universal is working on! We are thrilled about this project, as well as the upcoming opening of Universal Kids Resort in Texas and all the other projects Universal is currently working on. ©Universal Tell us which project you’re most excited about in the comments, and keep following Disney Food Blog for more. 8. We recently said our goodbyes to the Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which closed to make way for a brand new Monsters, Inc. land that Disney first announced in 2024. ©Disney Now, construction walls are up around the area, and there’s even some new concept art on those walls showing an updated idea of what the new land will look like. Most importantly, a new RIDE is on the way, based on the epic doors scene in the first Monsters, Inc. film. Well, we now have an idea where that ride is going and just how big it’s going to be. The new Monsters, Inc. ride will be Disney’s FIRST suspended roller coaster — like the first EVER in any of its parks. ©Disney Well, now we’ve got a new look at where that ride will be located, thanks to some new aerial photos. We previously saw a map of the area that indicated the ride’s location and size, which you can see below. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Thanks to @bioreconstruct, we see that this new ride will take up a huge space that was once a Cast Member parking lot BEHIND Muppets Courtyard. In this photo, you can see that this space has been cleared, surrounded by walls, and construction equipment is already in place. Again, we’re just blown away by how monstrously huge the space is in real life. ©bioreconstruct We also got some new aerial photos of what the former Muppets Courtyard looks like now as Disney begins building the new land in its space. ©bioreconstruct The first thing you may notice is that the Miss Piggy statue that was in the center of the fountain has been dismantled and is now completely gone. NOOOOO! ©bioreconstruct Disney hasn’t wasted time getting to work on converting the area into a new land. Of course, we have no word on when the new land might open, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details and announcements — with Destination D23 coming up soon, we hope to learn more then. 9. When it comes to dining at Disneyland, you’ve got a TON of options — so how do you know which to choose? Disney California Adventure We recently stopped by Flo’s V8 Cafe at Disney California Adventure to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to Disneyland Resort? Find out here! Atmosphere Radiator Springs invites you to dine at Flo’s V8 Cafe! This restaurant is the main eatery at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. Flo’s menu is inspired by all the mom ‘n pop diners along Route 66. Expect comfort food and shakes served up to go along with your meal. Flo’s V8 Cafe Race fans will love Flo’s dining room, which is fashioned after a showroom and also serves as a museum of artifacts from the legendary race car driver, Doc Hudson. You’ll want to check out Flo’s memorabilia from her glory days with the Motorama Girls while you’re there! Inside Flo’s But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu You’ll find lots of American comfort foods on the menu here, including burgers, fried chicken, pastrami sandwiches, and salads… ©Disney …along with some food for kids, including a Micro Burger, Chicken Fenders (tenders), and Mack’s Mac & Cheese. ©Disney For dessert, expect classic milkshakes… ©Disney …and you’ll find a decent selection of beers and seltzers, plus some premade margaritas. Non-alcoholic beverages are available here, too, of course. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Spicy Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger for $15.99. This is made with your choice of an Angus Beef & Mushroom Patty or Angus Beef Patty, Bacon, Spicy Guacamole, Cheddar, Chipotle Mayo, and Lettuce, and is served with your choice of Cuties® Mandarin Oranges or Fries. Spicy Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger This guy has a kick! The bacon was crispy, with an ample amount of guacamole. The spice stands out, though — this is actually a spicy burger. If you can barely handle “Disney” spice, you might want to avoid this. It’s actually got a noticeable kick. The burger holds up well thanks to the sturdiness of the bun, which was thick but fresh. This burger has a lot of California flair, like the guacamole and chopped lettuce, but you should only get this if you can handle spicy food. A solid burger! The fries were your standard Disney fries, which is fine with us! Disney fries We also ordered Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, and Seasonal Vegetables for $19.99. Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken This was niiiiiiice and crispy. A big plus is that the portion size is definitely shareable. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly — it wasn’t too dry, which sometimes happens with fast food fried chicken. SO good The skin was flavorful and crunchy, and the mashed potatoes were creamy with a good amount of seasoning. We appreciated that the veggies also had some seasoning and were fresh and nice as a complementary piece. Definitely tasted like an all-American dinner! Veggies Of course, we had to order drinks and dessert! Drinks We opted for Flo’s Classic Shake, which you can get for $7.29. This is a classic Vanilla, Chocolate, or Strawberry Shake topped with “Road Gravel” — we opted for vanilla this time around. Flo’s Classic Vanilla Shake We love that this shake is topped with Oreo bits. Yes, it’s overpriced, but it’s surprisingly sweet and flavorful, and the Oreo bits make for a great cookies and cream shake. The quality is higher than fast food, but it is a small drink, so we can’t give it too much praise. Still, we thought it was tasty and a healthy blend of thick and creamy, making it easy to drink. Cookie bits To drink, we ordered the Seaborn Cocktails Pomegranate Margarita for $19.50. This is a pre-made cocktail served over ice. Pomegranate Margarita This margarita was refreshing with a slightly bitter but fruity aftertaste. Notes of pomegranate are definitely there, but not overpowering. There was a nice mix of flavor and tequila — it wasn’t too strong. If you’re a pomegranate fiend, you’ll probably dig this; otherwise, it could go either way. It’s a non-offensive cocktail, but it’s also nothing really to write home about. You can find better drinks around this park! Not a bad option So, is Flo’s V8 Cafe worth a stop on your next visit to Disney California Adventure? Nosh or Not This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for classic American comfort food at Disney California Adventure. You’re in Cars Land and are looking for a quick meal so you can keep exploring the park. You have picky eaters in your group. You should skip this Disneyland spot if… You want a nice, sit-down meal with table service. You’re looking for more unique options that aren’t burgers and sandwiches. Overall Flo’s V8 Cafe is a great spot with solid eats in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. While the food here isn’t mind-blowingly unique, it is consistent and somewhere we come back to again and again. We appreciated the Spicy Guacamole Bacon Burger actually had a bit of a kick — and the fried chicken might give the Plaza a run for its money! Full spread from Flo’s In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. 10. When you’re heading on vacation, you may want to stop at the store to stock up on essentials and save money. ©Costco Wholesale Costco is usually one of the go-to stores, especially for larger families. Plus, if you buy non-perishables, you can bring home what you don’t use, or gift them to another family if you’re flying and don’t have room in your suitcases. If you’re a Costco member, you may remember the announcement made earlier this month that certain members will soon get early entry into the store. Now, that change is about to take place, and we have the schedule! Costco just officially announced the hours for this early shopping perk for Executive Members. These will begin on June 30th across participating locations in the United States. Monday-Friday, the early shopping hours will be 9–10 AM, Saturdays will be 9–9:30 AM, and Sundays will be 9–10 AM. Look forward to smaller crowds and shorter check-out lines! ©Costco It’s important to note that this is only for Executive Members, which is NOT Costco’s lower tier of membership. The lowest tiers are the Gold Star Membership and Business Membership, both of which cost $65 annually; however, these are not included in this perk. The Executive Membership is priced at $130 per year, and only these members will be allowed in during this additional shopping time. An Executive Membership also gets you an annual 2% reward on all eligible Costco purchases, up to $1,250 per year. Plus, you can take advantage of additional benefits and discounts on select Costco services. ©Costco Wholesale Many fans are READY for this perk to return. While Executive Members used to have this perk, it was phased out in recent years. Now, this perk will finally be returning! ©Costco Wholesale Hot tip! You can find some great deals at Costco, and you can often find deals on Disney Gift Cards to use for your Disney vacation and Disney souvenirs. Sometimes, you can find deals on tickets to the parks; we recently spotted a deal on 3-Day, Park Hopper tickets for Disneyland Resort. The three-day tickets cost $449.99 and included a $30 Disney Dining Card, park-hopper add-on, and Lightning Lane Multi Pass. We have even spotted deals on Universal Annual Passes at Costco! 13. Heading to Disney World? You’ve got to wise up! Welcome to Disney World! Disney World vacation planning requires quite a bit of thinking — from deciding on your dining and hotel to planning out your daily itineraries, there’s a good bit of decision-making involved. And recently, there have been so many changes that you might be out of the loop on the NEW tips if you haven’t been to the parks in a few years. That’s why we’ve rounded up the smartest ones here! Book a “Throwaway” Lightning Lane Our first new tip is that when using Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you need to book a “throwaway” Lightning Lane! How does this work? Well, with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can book in advance of your visit, but if you do that, you’ll be limited by the tier system. At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios, there are two tiers for all the Lightning Lane Multi Pass options. Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane When booking ahead of your visit, you’ll be limited to choosing ONE Lightning Lane option from Tier 1, while your other choices must be from Tier 2. However, once you get inside the park and use your first Lightning Lane of the day, the tier system disappears and you can book whatever you like. Because of this, we recommend that one of your Tier 2 selections be a “throwaway” option — go for the earliest time that you can get for the day and scan in as soon as possible. Star Tours Some of our recommended choices for this Lightning Lane selection are Mad Tea Party, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Journey Into Imagination with Figment, or Star Tours. After you scan into any of these rides (hopefully very early in the day), you will be able to go ahead and book another Lightning Lane, regardless of tier! Use MagicMobile Sadly, MagicBands are no longer included in your Disney World Resort stay, and they’re also not as affordable as they used to be! Disney seems to be phasing out the regular MagicBands and heavily pushing the MagicBand+ design instead. And while these are a cool offering, they’re definitely not necessary for your Disney World trip. If you want to save money, we recommend MagicMobile instead. ©Disney Disney’s MagicMobile service allows you to connect your party’s park tickets to your phone’s wallet, then simply scan them by tapping your phone at the touchpoints. You can use MagicMobile to enter the park, to scan into Lightning Lanes, to stop at PhotoPass spots, and more. And since the My Disney Experience app has the capability to unlock your hotel room door, you don’t really need MagicBand+ for your party unless you’re looking to use its interactive features. Check Walk-Up Waitlists One of the more stressful parts of planning a Disney World trip can be picking your dining reservations 60 days before you travel. Who knows what you’ll want to eat two months from now? And if you’re more of a last-minute kind of person, then you should definitely use the Walk-Up Waitlist in the My Disney Experience app. Look for this Walk-Up Waitlist sign! The Walk-Up Waitlist allows you to check for last-minute availability without actually visiting a restaurant’s host stand. However, it’s important to note that you do need to be NEAR the restaurant to join the waitlist (usually inside the park and on the same side of the park as the restaurant). This is a great way to snag hard-to-get reservations or a great way to fit dining into your schedule as you go. Go to Animal Kingdom in the Afternoon In 2025 and 2026, Animal Kingdom is a bit sad. Why? It seems like half the park is closed! It’s Tough to Be a Bug shut down to be replaced with a Zootopia show, and DinoLand, U.S.A. is being overhauled into a Tropical Americas land. With all these changes, quite a few things are closed, and Animal Kingdom is feeling more like a half-day park. Tree of Life So if you’re planning to only visit Animal Kingdom for half a day, we’ve got an important tip for you — go in the afternoon! You may be tempted to go first thing in the morning because this is the theme park that opens the earliest, but that’s what everyone else is doing. If you go in the afternoon instead, you’ll be met with lower crowds and shorter wait times…you’ll get things done so much faster. Arrive EARLY for Your Vacation Finally, we’ve got to mention one of Disney World’s newer hotel perks. For those staying at a Disney World Resort, you can get into a Disney water park for FREE on your check-in day. This deal applies to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon — whichever one is open during the day of your visit. Blizzard Beach So nowadays, you may actually want to arrive EARLY on your check-in day to get the full value out of this perk. Consider staying in a hotel nearby if you’re arriving in the Orlando area in the evening, that way you can check into your Disney World hotel in the morning and head straight for the water parks! Humunga Cowabunga You’ll need to be SMART when planning your Disney World trip — gone are the days of just showing up and going with the flow if you want to get a lot done. So make sure to try these new tips if you’re visiting soon! Check out the video below to see things you should always do at your Disney World hotel! 14. Disney does a lot of fun collaborations with other brands. Of course, we’re ALL familiar with Disney’s collaborations with Loungefly because we keep throwing money at those bags (#sorrynotsorry). The company has even teamed up with luxury brands, like Mercedes, to bring something new to Disney fans. Old Navy x Disney Road Trip We were pretty excited when Disney recently announced a new collaboration with Old Navy for a brand new Mickey & Friends collection, and to kick off this new partnership, Old Navy x Disney brought a fun event to several cities with the Old Navy x Disney Road Trip. We recently attended the event at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, California, so come with us to check it out! Okay, fun fact…did you know Santa Monica Pier is the official end of the historic Route 66? Well, now you know. So we paid homage to the sign marking that before we visited the Old Navy x Disney Road Trip. End of the line…literally We followed the signs to check out “The Most Magical Summer Ever.” The classic Mustang we saw parked in the big inflatable enclosure gave us Cars vibes, appropriately enough. Sweet ride The Old Navy x Disney Road Trip will be available for Disney fans all weekend as part of the Santa Monica Pier 360 Beach Festival. This pop-up is free and family-friendly and, if you couldn’t tell, inspired by the classic American road trip experience. Lots to do! Of course, you can also check out the new Old Navy x Disney collection and even buy some items at a discounted price. Shop The event includes fun summer-themed photo ops, food and drinks, giveaways, and more. Many of the vendors were also handing out free samples, although you could also purchase food and drinks. For adults, there was even a pop-up Beer Garden where you could purchase drinks and sit for a little while. Fun photo op Our first stop was at the Cold Treats booth, where you can get free bottles of water and a small soft-serve ice cream. Y’all…THEY HAD DOLE WHIP. Free water But the BEST part was that we got to see the Disneyland Band in a surprise live performance at the Santa Monica “Pier 360” Beach Festival. They played a medley of Disney tunes, including the new Disneyland 70th Anniversary anthem “Celebrate Happy.” Oh, and hey, Mickey was there, too, in his Disneyland 70th Anniversary outfit. Mickey and the Disneyland Band If you can’t make it to the pop-up, though, you can still shop the Old Navy x Disney Mickey & Friends collection online through July 5th. 15. We’ve got some BIG news to tell you about, Disney fans! Cinderella Castle Disney is in the middle of MULTIPLE construction projects in Magic Kingdom. Prepare to see “Please pardon our pixie dust” signs EVERYWHERE. Now, most of the time, Disney keeps its construction work behind walls. However, behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, it looks like Disney is clearing land for its new Villains Land, and we have a NEW LOOK at the latest progress! Here’s a handy side-by-side of the CURRENT progress versus the ANTICIPATED final product. Looking good, eh? Ta-da! The Villains Land will introduce two new attractions to the parks, along with new shopping and dining options. In regards to the new land, Disney shared, “Guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, the multi-acre expansion will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping. Walt Disney Imagineering is pushing creative boundaries to dark and mysterious levels to bring this new, first-of-its-kind land to life.” Via @bioreconstruct This massive new Villain-themed land, combined with the also-announced Cars expansion coming to the Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, is the largest expansion in the history of Disney World’s original theme park. Via @bioreconstruct We’ll be on the lookout for all the latest news from this upcoming construction project, as well as others, because Magic Kingdom isn’t the only park going through a major construction project. Muppets Courtyard is in the process of becoming the new Monsters, Inc. Land, and Animal Kingdom is slowly but surely turning DinoLand U.S.A. into Pueblo Esperanza. ©Disney Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? 16. Disneyland is going to look A LOT different in 2026, and that includes some notable absences! Disneyland! The Disneyland Resort’s 70th Anniversary Celebration is in full swing, bringing a lot of fun to the parks that you can experience now all the way into the summer of 2026. After that point, get ready to say goodbye to offerings like the Paint the Night Parade and the Key to Disneyland interactive souvenir. We won’t just be losing these anniversary offerings in 2026 — there are a few Disneyland Resort experiences that are sunsetting in 2025 (or have ALREADY CLOSED) that you’ll be hard-pressed to experience ever again in 2026 and beyond. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! While it’ll still technically be available in 2026, Disney California Adventure’s Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! ride is closing permanently early next year. While an official date has yet to be set, your safest bet of getting on this attraction one last time is to ride it in 2025. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! The Monsters, Inc. ride — which replaced Superstar Limo — is an adorable dark ride based on the Pixar film and has been a staple of California Adventure for years now. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! The ride and part of the Hollywood Backlot will be renovated to make way for the new Avatar land coming to California Adventure. ©Disney We’re still learning about the land, but know it’ll be based on the Avatar sequels and include a thrilling boat ride. All the NEW Rides and Attractions at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in 2025 and Beyond Red Car Trolley Staying at California Adventure, 2025 was the LAST year you could experience the famous Red Car Trolley attraction. We say “was” because, sadly, it officially closed permanently in February. Goodbye, Red Car Trolley While the car — styled after the Los Angeles Pacific Electric trolley cars of the early-to-mid 1900s — still sits at the front of the park, it is out of service, so don’t expect rides up and down Buena Vista Street, Hollywood Boulevard, and Sunset Boulevard. Red Car Trolley The decision to end the ride’s service is a direct result of Disney closing the Red Car Trolley barn in anticipation of the new Avengers Campus expansion project. ©Disney The expansion will double the size of the land while adding two new rides: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Disney Reveals INSANE New Tech For State-of-the-Art Upcoming Ride! Pirates of the Caribbean Lightning Lane Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland is about to discontinue its Lightning Lane offering — and maybe that’s a good thing. Pirates of the Caribbean queue The ride has been offering Lightning Lane (Disney’s skip-the-line service) reservations for some time as New Orleans Square and the now-Bayou Country undergo projects. However, at the time, it was made known that this was a temporary offering, and with the area now mostly construction-free without any attraction closures, Disneyland is finally making Pirates of the Caribbean standby-only again. Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland Per Disney, Pirates of the Caribbean’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass offering is available ONLY until June 30th, 2025 — Disney has confirmed this line will return to a standby-only line on July 1st, 2025. Yo ho! Yo ho! While it’s possible that the Lightning Lane could always return, we kind of hope it doesn’t, as the high passenger capacity of this attraction usually makes it one of the easier rides to get on in a short amount of time, despite its popularity. The Lightning Lane has been making the standby line longer (one that has been historically kind to visitors), and Disneylanders have complained that the offering was hurting the attraction — not helping it. A Popular Ride Is Being Removed from Lightning Lane at Disneyland We’re only halfway through 2025, which means MORE changes could be on the horizon. Fortunately, we’re at the parks all the time and we follow all the latest news, so you can trust us to deliver up-to-date coverage! How are you feeling about these 2026 changes? 17. Magic Kingdom is BUSY right now, and we’re not talking about crowds. A lot is happening there. In Tomorrowland, Astro Orbiter just reopened after a refurbishment and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close soon for a huge update. The Hall of Presidents Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America are also closing soon to be converted into a brand new Cars expansion in Frontierland, while Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing some massive upgrades. Behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a new Villains land is being constructed. Whew! Well, we’ve got some news about an attraction in Liberty Square that’s been closed for five months — Hall of Presidents has quietly reopened. We arrived in Magic Kingdom this morning to learn that the Hall of Presidents had quietly reopened in Disney World. This is good news because this building has some of the best air conditioning in Magic Kingdom, and it’s a place to rest those weary feet. It’s open Note that the lobby reopened previously for those wanting to check it out and get some much-needed cooling AC. We spent some time in the lobby, which includes portraits of U.S. Presidents… Presidential portraits …some history on the creation of the attraction… How it was made …some personal Presidential artifacts, and more. Personal artifacts After every Presidential election in the U.S., the Hall of Presidents receives an updated animatronic to represent the current President, if a new one is elected. In this case, Disney just needed to reuse an existing animatronic, including a recorded performance of the oath of office by President Donald Trump. The current President’s animatronic is given the front-and-center position in the show. Abraham Lincoln was voiced by Peter Renaday So, yes, Hall of Presidents has reopened, so that’s one more indoor attraction you can enjoy in Disney World! 18. One of the best parts of staying at a Walt Disney World hotel is the long list of exclusive perks that come with it. Disney’s Riviera Resort Early entry to the parks, free transportation across property, immersive theming, and that unmistakable Disney service — it all adds up to a more convenient and magical trip. Some resorts have amazing pools, fun activities, and great restaurants to choose from. Another thing they all have in common is the Rapid Refillable Mug service, but there’s one downside to this convenience. If you’ve ever stayed at a Walt Disney World resort, you’ve probably seen (or bought) the resort refillable mug. “Refillable mugs” are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs sold at Disney hotels in the Resort’s primary Counter Service location. Guests are entitled to unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating beverage locations at Disney resorts for their length of stay up to 14 days. Refillable mugs are available for one flat price of $22.99 for the length of the resort stay of up to 14 days, no matter how many days. But here’s the catch: you can only refill it at the resort hotels — not in the parks, not in Disney Springs. So, unless you’re spending a good chunk of time hanging out at your resort, its value is pretty limited. Refillable Mug What makes the rule even more frustrating is that the mug can’t be reused on a future trip. The refill access is tied to an RFID chip at the bottom of the cup, which is only activated for the length of your stay (up to 14 days). After that, it’s just a cup — although it’s still cute. If you’ve been going to Disney for years, you might remember when these mugs could be brought back — we’re talking decades ago. Guests would proudly reuse their mugs trip after trip, and it felt like a fun little perk that added a bit more value to staying on property. But that is no longer possible. Self-service Beverage Station Now, the one-and-done rule just feels wasteful. Between the price tag, the strict expiration window, and the fact that you can’t even use it where you’re spending most of your day — the parks — it’s hard not to feel like this policy could use an update. Some people may even use these at home for their morning coffee — I know I do. But maybe a return guest discount would be a step in the right direction. Disney has made great strides in sustainability lately, and this seems like an easy win. Let the mugs live on. 20. Did you know Hong Kong Disneyland is celebrating a milestone birthday this year? Castle of Magical Dreams at Hong Kong Disneyland That’s right, it’s Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th Anniversary, and they’re celebrating in a HUGE way! We’re talking special food, character meet-and-greets, and fantastic exclusive shows — including a STUNNING new nighttime spectacular! We couldn’t miss out on the milestone celebration for the Disney park in Hong Kong; we just HAD to go…so we did! That’s right, we are at Hong Kong Disneyland to join The Most Magical Party of All! From new entertainment to the sights, tastes, and sounds — this year-long party is going to be one to remember. Hercules in Momentos! One thing that we really looked forward to was the nighttime firework spectacular called Momentous: Party in the Night Sky. It’s been dubbed the “Most Magical Show on Earth.” Trust us, it lives up to that title! This wasn’t like anything we’ve seen before — it literally had WATER AND FIRE AND FIREWORKS AND DRONES! The show’s about to start! The show provides you with 28 minutes of large-scale 3D projection mapping technology, choreographed fountains, illuminated water projection, lasers, theatrical lighting, pyrotechnics, fireworks effects, and DRONES! Similar to “Happily Ever After” at Magic Kingdom, the projections go down the entire length of Main Street, U.S.A. This show is a special one, as it’s exclusive to the 20th anniversary. It even features an anniversary-only prelude created specially for the celebration. To say we LOVED it would be an understatement at this point! Momentos! Everyone, this show is genuinely a Disney fan’s dream come true! The show is filled with nods to so many of the most iconic and beloved Disney films. One scene that took our breath away was a Moana scene. There were waves rushing down the street as the Heart of Te Fiti was restored. If you’re a fan of Disney Pixar’s Coco, this would have had you bawling — marigold petals fell from above and covered the street in a stunning glow. Coco! The show will feature some of your favorite Disney characters — including the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, the Genie from Aladdin, and more. This is Hong Kong Disneyland, so of course Duffy and Friends are in the show, too! Did you know that the nighttime spectacular is made up of nearly 200 brand-new scenes? CRAZY RIGHT?! STUNNING! Of course, it can’t be a nighttime spectacular without the villains trying to take over! We were in AWE! You’re not going to believe us, but the castle clock actually FLOATS! It literally floats in mid-air, and Tinker Bell transforms the castle and the buildings all the way down Main Street! Talk about “Most Magical Show on Earth” — YEAH IT IS! 28 minutes of pure MAGIC! We could go on and on about this show, we love it SO much! If we had a show like this at Disneyland or Disney World, we would lose our marbles. It was amazing to get to see this spectacular in person. Maybe you’ll get the chance over the course of this next year (we highly recommend it!). 21. Some of our favorite Disney World snacks just got the boot— and we’re not too thrilled. Eight Spoon! Two popular snack spots in Disney’s Animal Kingdom have made some big menu changes, and unfortunately, the new additions don’t make up for the losses. We’re talking about longtime go-to eats that were practically our park staples — gone. Let’s break down what changed at Eight Spoon Cafe and Smiling Crocodile, and why it’s giving us the kind of vibe we’re hoping we don’t see too much more of. Eight Spoon Cafe Took Away the Mac & Cheese That Had Our Hearts This little kiosk has always been a clutch spot for hearty snacks that didn’t require a full sit-down meal. And yeah, some of our favorites have always been the baked mac & cheese lineup. Whether you liked it classic, with pulled pork, or barbacoa beef, there was a version for every craving. But as of this past week? Every single one of those options is gone: Barbacoa Beef on Baked Macaroni & Cheese Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork Baked Macaroni & Cheese (yep, even the plain one) Mickey Pretzel with Cheese Churro Assorted Chips Nestlé Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Sandwich Nestlé Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar Barbacoa Beef on Baked Macaroni & Cheese You read that right. They also cut out two classic Mickey-shaped ice cream options. You could once grab a cheesy carb bomb and cool off with a Mickey bar in one stop. Now? Not so much. The new menu items: Smoked Chicken Wings – Three wings with tangy BBQ sauce, house-made chips, and pickles for $7.99 Pulled Pork Sliders – Pulled pork with BBQ sauce on Hawaiian rolls with chips and pickles, also $7.99 The Pulled Pork Sliders! Are these terrible options? No. But we’d be lying if we said we weren’t feeling sad about the changes to the menu. Smiling Crocodile Now Feels Like a Mac & Cheese Booth Smiling Crocodile also decided to ditch its more varied lineup in favor of — you guessed it — mac & cheese. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if we hadn’t just lost better mac & cheese across the walkway. Here’s what they removed: Barbacoa Nachos Chicken Street Tacos Street Corn Tacos Chips, Salsa, and Queso Barbacoa Nachos These weren’t groundbreaking items, but they did bring flavor and variety. Now they’ve been replaced with: Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Buffalo Chicken – Topped with ranch, $9.99 Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Garlic Smoked Sausage – Also $9.99 Plain Baked Macaroni & Cheese – $7.99 This feels like a copy-paste job of the comfort food they just cut from Eight Spoon Cafe. So we’re trading variety and flexibility for repetition. We get the appeal of mac & cheese — it’s popular, safe, and it sells. The Smiling Crocodile Disney World restaurant menus change all the time, and can be a little hard to keep track of, but you can check menus on the Disney World website and My Disney Experience app. We’ll also keep you updated on menu changes, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 5 Things That Should Be Illegal at Disney World Restaurants Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 22. Flavors of Florida has kicked off in Disney Springs at Disney World, and we are ready to eat all the, well, flavors the state of Florida is known for in 2025. Flavors of Florida! We previously got a sneak peek at some of the food this year’s event would bring, plus we recently got to check out a culinary demonstration AND eat our way around some of the special Flavors of Florida food and drinks at the Disney Springs quick service restaurants, but now we’re checking out an exclusive Pairing Event for Flavors of Florida. So the pairing event is a 2-stop tour of locally-inspired food and drinks that starts at Enzo’s Hideaway and Tunnel Bar and ends at Morimoto Asia. We started our adventure at Enzo’s Hideaway with some liqueurs by J.F. Haden’s, a Florida-owned business. We started with drinks with J.F. Haden’s espresso liqueur, and it tastes exactly like straight espresso. You don’t even need to mix it up with anything. Espresso liqueur The J.F. Haden’s Key Lime Pie Liqueur was next. Y’all, it even smells like a key lime pie, including that graham cracker essence. It’s DELICIOUS. Bonus? You can buy these liqueurs to take home if you want. This might be one of our favorite things we had to drink at this event. Key Lime Pie liqueur We then had a sweet treat, the Classic Cannoli. We’ve had this before, and it’s really a nice cannoli that has a fun cream-filled flavor and chocolate chips. It’s called “classic” for a reason. There’s nothing distinctly Florida about it, but we’ll never turn down a sweet treat. Classic Cannoli Okay, back to the booze. The Everglader is a drink that remimagines a 1920s cocktail. It’s made with New World Gin from St. Augustine distillery, as well as Florida orange liqueur, pineapple juice, orange juice, and absinthe spirits. You can get it for $18 a glass at The Edison. The drink was great. It was very gin-forward, and it’s got a subtle sweet citrus flavor. The Everglader Y’all…then Enzo’s hit us with a bourbon flight. SAY WHAT? So we got to try the bourbons from St. Augustine Distillery, including the Florida Straight Bourbon, the Toasted Finish Bourbon, and the Port Finished Bourbon. The Florida Straight has a very old-fashioned flavor. We really liked the Toasted Finish because it had a S’mores marshmallow finish to it. That Port Finished Bourbon, though? It’s 102 proof, and it was POTENT. It’s smooth at first, and then it has a bite at the end. St. Augustine Distillery display We also tried the Fra Diavola Pizza from Pizza Ponte. It’s made with spicy salame calabrese, Orlando petal honey, chili, and pecorino romano. It’s like a hot honey pizza with pepperoni because it has a fiery kick, but it’s a low heat, and we appreciated that. Fra Diavola Pizza The Hot Honey High Voltage Chicken Sandwich is from The Edison — and y’all, it blew us away. It’s made with native datil pepper–infused Orlando petal honey, buttermilk fried chicken, hatch pepper gouda, arugula, tomato, and a brioche bun. That natural hot honey is just so good. Hot Honey High Voltage Chicken Sandwich We also tried a beer that’s available seasonally at Enzo’s Hideaway, Hidden Springs Orange Crush. It’s nice and light with some honey notes to it. It does have a full orange flavor, and it’s almost as if it wants to be a cider, but with just a little extra oomph. It comes in a can, but when poured into a glass, it has a nice foam on top of it. Hidden Springs Orange Crush We also had Southeastern Sangria from a local winery. It was a little tart, which was a nice treat. It’s not very strong, and it sneaks up on you in a subtle way, like you would expect from a sangria. Southeastern Sangria We loved the Bruschetta Calabrese, which is available at Enzo’s Hideaway. It’s grilled ciabatta topped with ‘nduja and Florida-sourced fioretta stracciatella, petal honey, and micro arugula. Everyone was raving about this. It’s nice and creamy with that touch of sweetness from the honey. The greens on top were also really nice. Bruschetta Calabrese After all that food, we got Munyon’s Paw-Paw Florida Liqueur, which you’ll find in some Flavors of Florida cocktails. Interestingly enough, this drink was originally created as a cure-all, but it’s been refined since then. It’s a nice palette cleanser with a subtle orange note at the front. It also smells citrusy. Munyon’s Paw-Paw Florida Liqueur Then we headed over to Morimoto Asia, where we dove into Florida Orange Sweet and Sour Grouper. This is Flash-fried grouper with onion, bell pepper, and Florida orange, served with a sweet and sour orange sauce. Uh-mazing, y’all. It was like a sweet and sour stir fry, and this could be our favorite fish option we’ve had so far with Flavors of Florida. The flavors are vibrant and lively with nice citrus notes. The sweet and sour orange sauce? Just pour it into a cup for us so we can drink it straight. This dish is $38, though, so it’s pricey. Florida Orange Sweet and Sour Grouper Morimoto Asia also has the Sparkling Shiso Orange Mocktail. After all that booze, we were kind of grateful for something non-alcoholic! It’s made with House-made shiso orange shrub, yuzu, and sparkling green tea for $9. It has a bit of a bubbly element, which is nice. It’s very citrusy and tart, so your taste buds will wake up. So if bubbly citrus drinks are your thing, you might love this. Sparkling Shiso Orange Mocktail So the ticket to this event was $107, and we think it was very worth it. It was a great way to sample many of the Flavors of Florida options in one place (well, two places) and included around 10 alcoholic drinks, a mocktail, and several light bites. We also got to chat with representatives from some of the brands to learn more about them. If you found something you liked, you could go back for more, too, although we wouldn’t recommend that so much with all the liquor (it’s a lot and those were some STRONG beverages). 23. A popular Disney World attraction has finally reopened! Astro Orbiter We have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of this Magic Kingdom ride, and now it’s BACK! If you want to blast off into space, you’ll have to head over to Space Mountain because Astro Orbiter has been temporarily closed for refurbishment. Astro Orbiter closed as of January 13th and has finally reopened. The rockets! The ride was completely dismantled and was refurbished elsewhere. However, we have seen it getting reassembled, and we recently saw the attraction testing. Now, it’s BACK! Let’s take a look at what other attractions and locations will be closed this week, June 28th through July 5th, at Disney World! Magic Kingdom Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue closed for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground is closed, the ride is still open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen later in 2025. Originally, it was expected to open in spring 2025, but the opening date has been pushed back. Hall of Presidents The Hall of Presidents closed at Magic Kingdom on January 20th. The attraction will be closed until later in 2025, though Disney has not shared a specific date. We will keep an eye out for updates, though! Hall of Presidents The closure is likely to change the current president, as January 20th marked Inauguration Day. While it is closed, other maintenance and routine work may also be happening. Recently, the inside has opened up for guests to explore and to get some much-needed A/C, but the show itself is not running. Don’t Forget! 3 Magic Kingdom Attractions Will Permanently CLOSE Soon Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Is that a new train car?! The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! We recently spotted some ride testing happening, which was very exciting, and a train car has arrived! It was still covered in a tarp, but it was exciting to see. Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and take a rest, this could be it! Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we saw it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! The BAD News About Magic Kingdom’s Radiator Springs Racers Ride in Disney World EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, 2024, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! We officially know that this attraction will be reopening on July 22nd, 2025! Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Test Track’s new sign We recently spotted a new Test Track sign make its debut in the courtyard. Plus, the gift shop has a new sign and a new name, Test Track Gear Shop. Cast Member previews have already begun for the attraction, and we’ve even gotten to hop on the ride already! We are getting closer and closer to its official reopening! PERILOUS PEPPERONI NEWS: A Beloved EPCOT Snack Has Been REPLACED Disney’s Animal Kingdom It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is officially closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom once invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. 25. We have a feeling that major LEGO fans will be buying tickets to fly to Shanghai soon. You might be thinking, “Shanghai? LEGO? What?“, but let us explain. ©Legoland Here in America, we’re very familiar with LEGOLAND. There’s a LEGOLAND in Florida, and a LEGOLAND in California. However, did you know that the largest LEGOLAND won’t be in the US? Shanghai is getting the world’s largest LEGOLAND, and it’s opening VERY soon! Shanghai is so close to introducing the world’s largest version of LEGOLAND. It’s time for us to start saving up, because we have a trip we need to book. LEGOLAND Shanghai is operated by Merlin Entertainments, which runs LEGOLAND parks worldwide, per The Independent. ©Legoland LEGOLAND Shanghai is set to open up to Lego fans around the world on July 5th. That means we’re a week away from the opening date. This resort sounds AMAZING, as it will feature a ton of our favorite LEGO properties — eight to be exact! Those eight LEGO properties will be turned into themed immersive areas — including Ninjago, LEGO Friends, and Monkie Kid lands, just to name a few. ©Legoland The themed areas will bring your favorite LEGO stories to life at a MASSIVE scale. You’ll be fully immersed in the wonderful world of LEGO! The park will also feature many LEGO-themed rides and attractions. One of which is a very well-crafted mini replica of the Shanghai waterfront and the tall skyscrapers of the Lujiazui financial district. The replicas are impressively built out of LEGO, and LEGO alone. Check it out below! ©Legoland When you’re there, a must-visit spot will be “Miniland”. It will have many wild and cool creations for guests to look at. Miniland will be where the LEGO replica of downtown Shanghai and the city’s waterfront is located. Miniland will 100% have guests in awe, as the creations took 168,000 hours to complete, using more than 20 million bricks. ©Legoland Fun fact! LEGO has been a staple toy in Shanghai for a long time, as there are over 400 stores located there. Legoland will find a nice home there, and now we have more reason to go visit. If you’re planning on checking out the brand-new resort, tickets will begin at 319 yuan ($44.46) during the low season. On peak days, the ticket price will increase to 599 yuan ($83.57). ©Legoland We’re really excited for the opening of the biggest Legoland in the world, and can’t wait to check it out one day! We’re sure LEGO fans are already planning a trip. For more theme park news and updates, be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog! LEGOLAND Florida Announces New LEGO Festival!
