GEO-82, you already have our hearts! GEO-82 On June 4th, EPCOT opened its adults-only Spaceship Earth-themed lounge, and we’ve been several times, trying everything on the menu. It comes at a cost, but the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience make this a must-do. If that wasn’t enough, the lounge also has souvenirs you can purchase that are selling out faster than a Lightning Lane for Slinky Dog Dash! Introducing the GEO-82 glasses! For $35 each, you can pick up a wine glass or a rocks glass with a stunning design and the GEO-82 logo. Well, that is if you can get your hands on it! Glasses At our most recent visit to the lounge, a Cast Member told us they were sold out of both the wine and rocks glasses. They assured they are working on getting more brought over, but the glasses come from Italy and are engraved here in Florida, so they did not have a timeline for when they’d be back in stock. Strawberry and Coconut ‘Right Hand’ Yes, this is a fantastic take-home souvenir to commemorate your visit, but honestly, it’s SO worth going even if they are out of these. If you want to visit, you’re going to need to make a reservation through My Disney Experience. It can be hard to snag one, so set your alarms for 60 days before your trip! Reservations tend to open around 5:45 AM-6 AM. Truffled Ahi Tuna GEO-82 also offers a special fireworks experience with champagne (in an exclusive glass), a tasting tower, and some sweets to enjoy while the music for the show is pumped in. The experience does cost $179 per person, so our favorite hack is to get a regular reservation during fireworks and watch from there! You won’t get a front row seat at the window, but you’ll still get a decent view and cap off your night at the upscale lounge. It’s a win-win! GEO-82 Fireworks Experience Food Tower If those glasses are a must for you, definitely visit and see if they have them in stock! It seems like these will continue to come in batches, so it’s not guaranteed they will be available. Either way, we’re sure you’ll have a great time. When it comes to classic Disney music, it’s hard not to think of the iconic tune from the beloved attraction, “it’s a small world.” This fan-favorite experience has captivated audiences for decades, with its catchy melody first introduced at the New York World’s Fair in 1964 and later at Disneyland in 1966 before enchanting Disney parks around the world. The late Richard and Robert Sherman wrote the song’s original verses, and before his passing, Richard wrote a new verse as his final gift to Disney. We are honored that the last verse of this beloved song will debut in the finale scene of “it’s a small world” at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort beginning July 17, 2025. The update to the finale scene is meant to add to the attraction’s legacy and further emphasize the song’s meaning. As Gregg Sherman, son of Richard Sherman, explains, the new verse is intended to “celebrate that there’s more that unites us than divides us, and reinforce the message of that song.” For those who want to experience the new last verse outside the parks, they can listen to the digital single wherever they listen to music. Fans can also preorder the “It’s A Small World” (70th Anniversary) special edition vinyl today or purchase at Disney Music Emporium starting July 18, 2025. "it's a small world" Finale Scene Lyrics Mother earth unites us in heart and mind And the love we give makes us humankind Through our vast wondrous land When we stand hand in hand It’s a small world after all. More “it’s a small world” History Since its conception, the beloved attraction has become a symbol of unity and embodies hope for a world where all people are celebrated through the connections that make us all human – a message that’s still important to this day. To bring this vision to life, Walt Disney asked Richard Sherman and Robert Sherman – who wrote music for many Disney classics including “The Jungle Book,” “Sword in the Stone” and “Mary Poppins” – to write an unforgettable theme song that could be sung repeatably and in different languages. The resulting song became one of the best-known Disney tunes of all time, “It’s a Small World (After All).” The song pairs masterfully with the art style of Disney Legend, Mary Blair, a celebrated Disney artist who played a key role in shaping the visual style the attraction has become known for. To this day, the ride remains one of the most recognizable around the world. For more history on the “it’s a small world” attraction, see here. Well, it’s officially the end of an era at Magic Kingdom. Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat are both now closed to park visitors. Tom Sawyer Island It’s been a long journey, but it seems like Disney has been quick to update the My Disney Experience app and beyond — because new maps have popped up in the park and on the app overnight. It’s a sad day at Magic Kingdom, because two Disney World attractions are now permanently closed. Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat are no more — and it looks like Disney has wasted no time updating maps to reflect that. Before we headed into Magic Kingdom this morning, we spotted this update on the My Disney Experience app, completely removing the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat from the map. ©Disney Shortly after heading into Magic Kingdom, we spotted the same changes reflected on the paper maps as well. NEW Magic Kingdom park map When we opened the map, we couldn’t help but feel just a bit sad that Tom Sawyer Island is no more. Well, it’s still technically there for now, but it doesn’t exist on the map anymore. It’s GONE For comparison, here’s what the old map looked like. As you can see, the Rivers of America, the Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island are now completely missing: Magic Kingdom map showing Tom Sawyer Island At some point in 2027, we will eventually see a new Cars Land called Piston Peak. The area is inspired by National Parks — primarily Rocky Mountain National Park. The name of Piston Peak stems from the fictional land, Piston Peak National Park, from the 2014 Disney film Planes: Fire & Rescue (which is part of the Cars universe). Piston Peak ©Disney New attractions, stores, and food and beverage spots will be part of this new land. Guests can look forward to two NEW Cars attractions! Get ready to race through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as you dodge geysers and splash through mud holes on an exciting and thrilling rally race ride. Disney also shared that the second ride will be geared toward “smaller racers” and will be fun for the whole family! @Disney Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Aulani, Disney’s resort and spa in Ko Olina, Hawaii, is a tropical paradise that, of course, has a touch of Disney magic! Aulani Not only is this resort beautiful, but it is also home to some delicious eats like Mickey Mouse-shaped shaved ice and Mickey Mouse-shaped Spam musubi. We recently stopped by Aulani’s family-friendly restaurant, Makahiki — The Bounty of the Islands, for dinner, and we are taking you along with us! Let’s get into it! You can find Makahiki on the first floor of the main building of the resort, right next to the ‘Ōlelo Room. During breakfast, Makahiki is a character meal where you can meet Mickey and the gang! For dinner, though, the characters are out enjoying all that the resort has to offer, so if you want to enjoy a character meal, you will want to visit Makahiki for breakfast. Makahiki Atmosphere Compared to breakfast, dinner at Makahiki is more upscale and has an elegant vibe. Makahiki is a seasonal celebration of the harvest, and it is reflected in the art on the walls as well as the fixtures on the ceiling. Reservations are not required, but they are recommended. Reservations can be made 30 days in advance. Let’s get seated! The restaurant’s lighting is so beautiful at nighttime, and you can see the lighting fixtures and artwork that represent Makahiki. So beautiful! There are tables outside that overlook the large Koi pond, as well as tables inside. We sat inside because it was dark out, but there were plenty of people who chose to eat outside. Regardless of where you choose to sit, it is still an open-air restaurant, so you can enjoy Hawaii’s gorgeous weather. The Dining Room Menu Dinner is a three-course prix-fixe meal that allows you to choose from multiple appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The dinner menu includes seafood, steak, and even plant-based options! Dinner is $77 for adults. The Menu There is also a full bar along with specailty cocktails! The bar menu You can even get your cocktail served in a pineapple for an additional $12! Specialty cocktails at Makahiki Drinks We started off our meal by ordering the Mango Mojito, which has Old Lahania Rum, mango, mint, and house-made sweet-and-sour, topped off with soda water. Mango Mojito This drink was acidic, zingy, and nice and fruity. There was a lot of mango flavor, and it overpowered the mint. It was a lovely drink to sip on while we waited for our meal. So refreshing! We also ordered the Longboard Lager, which you can find all over at Aulani. It is a crowd-pleasing beer as it is super light and has a few tropical notes to it. Longboard Lager Eats For our starter course, we chose the Caesar Salad, which was a huge portion! It featured hearts of romaine, herbed croutons, house-made Caesar dressing, and Reggiano parmesan. Ceasar Salad The salad was crisp, and the lettuce was cold. There was no shortage of dressing, yet we found the ratio of lettuce, croutons, and dressing to be just right! Ceasar Salad We also tried the Roasted Tomato Soup, which had hamakua tomatoes, basil, EVOO, and sourdough fontina melts. Roasted Tomato Soup This was a huge portion once again, and it was more of a bowl rather than a cup! It was so creamy and savory, and we tasted a hint of basil. It also came with sourdough fontina melts, which is just a fancy way to say grilled cheese. This was truly like an entree-sized portion. We liked dipping our grilled cheese in the soup! For our entree course, we ordered the House-Smoked Atlantic Salmon with applewood smoked bacon, marble potato salad, roasted asparagus, maitake mushrooms, and lemon-dill cream. House-Smoked Atlantic Salmon This was very rich and buttery. It was so well cooked that it melted in our mouths. The cream sauce added to the richness, which made it a bit hard to eat after having such a large soup and salad. It also came with a serving of potatoes. We would say that picky eaters may not like this since it has a mushroom taste. The asparagus, on the other hand, was just good, nothing special, just asparagus. The Salmon came with a side of potatoes. We also tried the Filet Mignon, which was 8oz and was served with whipped potatoes, broccolini, shallot confit, bordelaise sauce, and bleu cheese butter. The Filet We ordered ours medium rare, but it was a tad bit overcooked. There was a bit in the middle that felt like it was cooked just right. However, it seemed that it was cooked too long. Due to this, it did not have the typical texture you would expect when you order Filet Mignon. The filet itself was super peppery, and the outside of it had a rub on it, which made it taste incredible. The broccolini was well-salted but a little stiff on the stem. We were let down by the mashed potatoes as they were not really mushy, and you could tell that they had been scooped out based on their shape; it was more of a potato paste. The mashed potatoes were not our favorite. There were three choices for dessert, and we were so lucky that our server comped us for one dessert so we could try all three! First up, we had the Roasted Pineapple Cobbler with macadamia nut cinnamon streusel and haupia gelato. You will definitely want to try this if you are an apple pie person. It was like a fruity pie with a scoop of ice cream on it. It was super sweet since pineapple is such a sweet and tart fruit. Roasted Pineapple Cobbler To our surprise, the dessert we did not order turned out to be our favorite! The Warm Chocolate Toffe Brownie came with brownie brittle and vanilla ice cream. It had lovely pieces of sugary toffee, and the chocolate was not overly rich. Our reporter who tried it is not really into chocolate, but would still recommend it even if you are not a chocolate person because the toffee is so good. Warm Chocolate Toffee Brownie Finally, we tried the Kona Coffee Cheesecake with Oreo cookie crust, whipped cream, and toffee sauce. This dessert is super coffee-forward, and you are going to want to skip out on it if you are not a coffee person. This shot up our nose with coffee flavor, which was okay for us because we found this dish to be delicious and the cheesecake was super creamy. Kona Coffee Cheesecake The desserts were the real winner for us, and if you want to try them without having to have a prix-fixed meal, you can find all three of these desserts at The ‘Ōlelo Room. Overall The service here was incredible, but that is the case all over the resort, as all the Cast Members are super kind and very hospitable. Although this was a heavy three-course meal, you are able to pace it as you would like. It was a great dinner, but not necessarily a standout dinner. Instead, we would recommend dining at Makahiki for breakfast. Makahiki For $77, this meal was a bit on the pricey side. While the mood changes compared to breakfast, it is not a super fancy meal. It is comparable to eating at Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary in Disney World. If you are unable to dine at Aulani’s signature restaurant, ‘AMA‘AMA, this is a good alternative. But if you want something more upscale, you will want to dine there instead. Nosh or Not You will want to head to Makahiki for dinner if you… Want a family-friendly meal. The menu items here can appease an array of eaters with classic eats like tomato soup, grilled cheese, and steak. You did not make reservations but still want to eat out. Although reservations are recommended, there is plenty of seating to usually be able to accommodate walk-ups. You may want to skip Makahiki for dinner if… Dining with characters is a must. If you want to meet Mickey and the gang, you will want to check out Makahiki for breakfast instead. Don’t like prix-fixe meals. While we did enjoy this meal, it was very filling and came with three courses. You are looking for a signature dining experience. If you want to have a more upscale dinner, you will want to check out Aulani’s signature restaurant, ‘AMA‘AMA. We are checking out everything that Aulani has to offer, so make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! Well, it happened. We got to travel to Hong Kong Disneyland to check out the huge 20th Anniversary Celebration there. Disney Friends Live at the Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland We got to do it all, too, including eating some of the WILDEST food ever (and we want MORE), seeing some incredible celebratory entertainment, and getting to meet Disney characters in their special Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary outfits. It was UH-mazing. However, speaking of Uh-mazing, we also fell in love with breakfast at Chart Room Cafe at Disney Explorers Lodge at the resort…and we think we need to fly back to China to have it again. Atmosphere Chart Room Cafe takes the theme of Disney Explorers Lodge and expands upon it. Think Disney’s Wilderness Lodge meets the SEA (Society of Explorers and Adventurers). The restaurant is dedicated to the spirit of exploration, which you can see in the restaurant’s sign. Welcome to Chart Room Cafe The cafe is a quick service location, so you’ll order at a counter. Counter You’ll see a display of various food and drinks behind the counter. Display behind counter The entire vibe is what we’re going to call “explorers casual,” with plenty of tables and comfy chairs for seating. Plenty of seating is available But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The breakfast menu includes Hong Kong, Chinese, and American breakfast favorites, as well as coffees, teas, and other beverages. The menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Chinese Breakfast, with siu miu, har gow, mushroom bun, and congee of the day. It’s served with coffee, Hong Kong-style milk tea, or fruit juice. We chose coffee. First up, we’re just going to tell you that we love this breakfast SO MUCH. This is what breakfast should be with savory dumplings and things, high protein, and congee. This is the breakfast of Mulan, who saved ALL OF CHINA, and you can’t tell us otherwise. Chinese breakfast The Mushroom Bun has a lovely sweetness to it, but also like umami. Inside, it’s like a gravy texture. Plus the bun is so nice and soft. Mushroom Bun Har Gow is also called Crystal Shrimp Dumpling and is made with shrimp meat wrapped in a flour wrapper. The flour wrapper is then steamed, which makes the wrapper almost translucent. These dumplings had perfectly cooked shrimp with the right amount of resistance when you bite into the dumpling and the rice paper surrounding the shrimp meat. Har Gow Our favorite was the Siu Mai, which is like a steamed pork dumpling. It’s full of flavor and has a nice savory taste. There are lovely aromatics in it. This is the most perfect dumpling in the history of dumplings. It’s also the perfect size because you can just pop it into your mouth and enjoy. Siu Mai The Congee is a rice porridge, and it has some lovely flavors. We tasted chicken broth in it, and there were even bits of chicken in it. It’s so flavorful, savory, and warm, but it still feels like a breakfast food while not being what you might think of as a traditional breakfast food. Congee We liked the Congee so much that we tried to replicate the recipe at home, but it just didn’t compare. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want a traditional Chinese breakfast. If you want to try something traditional to the country you’re visiting, this is it. You prefer savory breakfasts over sweet. This is a savory breakfast, so no muffins or sweet croissants here. You want a quick breakfast. This is a quick-service spot, so you just order your food at a counter and grab it. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want a regular American breakfast. Although there is an American breakfast available here, it’s not entirely a traditional one. You want a table service meal. If you want something where you sit at a table and servers wait on you while you spend time on your meal, this isn’t it. You have picky eaters in your group. Picky eaters might not appreciate the breakfast items here. Overall Overall, we loved our breakfast at Chart Room Cafe, and we’re still having happy dreams about it. Everything was delicious, and it was so nice to have such a savory and hearty breakfast to power us through our day visiting Hong Kong Disneyland. It was a lot like having dim sum for breakfast, and we think that should really be a thing here in the States. The only thing we aren’t happy about is that we don’t live close enough to have this breakfast on a regular basis. It’s okay, congee, we’ll remember you fondly in our thoughts. What a summer for Universal Orlando, right? The opening of Epic Universe has shaken things up in the theme park department in Orlando, and we’re still not over just how, well, EPIC, Epic Universe really is. Epic Universe There’s just one big problem, though, with Epic Universe if you’re an Annual Passholder. Now, of course, Universal Orlando Passholders did get to see Epic Universe before everyone else, but if they want to visit, even now, they have to pay for a special discounted ticket to visit the new theme park. However, we think we just saw a sign that this could change soon…at least by the start of 2026. We were recently perusing the Annual Passholder information on the official Universal Orlando website, and saw some language that made us think about this a bit. Passholder perks in Epic Universe are set to expire on December 31st, 2025. These perks include special discounts on dining and merchandise, as well as parking perks. However, those perks also include discounted tickets to Epic Universe. Don’t forget — Epic Universe is NOT currently included as one of the parks you can visit with an Annual Pass. How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk So, what does that new expiration date mean? Well, nothing, really, but it could potentially mean that a change is coming in 2026 for Universal Orlando Passholders, including the chance to upgrade that pass to include Epic Universe. We’re assuming some of the other perks, like the discounts, would still be valid going into the new year. Now, Universal Orlando hasn’t specified any such thing just yet or made any announcements about what Universal Orlando Annual Passholders will be getting in 2026, but we just wanted to point out that little detail. Sneaky, eh? Constellation Carousel in Celestial Park We’ll be keeping an eye out for updates, though, so stay tuned to DFB for more. As a full-time travel editor who basically lives out of a suitcase, I’ve learned one major lesson: The key to packing light is learning how to do laundry on the go. ©Amazon That’s why the one product I’m most hoping to see marked down during Amazon Prime Day is the Scrubba Wash Bag. If it does? I’m finally hitting “buy.” DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Yes, you can do laundry in your hotel room sink — and I currently do, on almost every trip. I usually launder the clothes I traveled in on the night I arrive — and then wear them back home. This eliminates packing anxiety — because I know that I will be re-packing to go home exactly like I packed for the trip. And while sink laundry is fine, I like the features of the Scrubba — especially the flexible internal washboard that actually scrubs without damaging fabrics. ©Amazon The Scrubba Wash Bag is essentially a portable washing machine that weighs just a few ounces. The reviews say it effectively cleans T-shirts, socks, even leggings — better than you would expect for a 5-minute wash. CHECK PRICE ON AMAZON I know that some travelers use a wet bag for laundry, but the scrubbing wash board on the inside of this bag is what I think makes it more effective. And it folds up to about the size of a soda can. That makes it ultra-packable. ©Amazon CHECK PRICE ON AMAZON It’s 5 oz of genius: Unroll it, add soap, water, rub for a few minutes, and voilà—clean clothes anywhere. But it is a bit of a splurge — that’s why I’ll be watching for it to go below $55 on Amazon Prime Day! My Prime Day shopping strategy is to add the things I’m interested in to a list in the Amazon app — when deals on things on your list are about to start, you’ll get a notification. I plan to snag the Scrubba Wash Bag if it drops below $45. Fingers crossed! There’s that internal washboard! Here’s why I’m planning to splurge on the Scrubba Wash Bag: It will save me money and time. It’s ultra-packable. It actually works, at least according to hundreds of reviews! My Full On-the-Go Laundry Kit If you’re going to wash your clothes on the road, you’ll want more than just a wash bag. Here are a couple items I already own and recommend — they’re designed with travel in mind. Earth Breeze Laundry Detergent Sheets These are my go-to detergent sheets for travel. They’re mess-free, dissolve instantly in cold or warm water, and they come in a biodegradable package. No bulky bottles. No TSA issues. ©Amazon When I travel with these, I pre-cut a few sheets into smaller squares since I’m doing tiny loads of laundry. CHECK PRICE ON AMAZON Sea to Summit Lite Line Travel Clothesline This thing weighs under 2 oz and doesn’t require clothespins (thanks to its bead-and-bungee design). If you’re visiting Disney World in the summer, you’re probably already aware that the weather can be a problem sometimes, and not just because it’s also hurricane season (although that can put a wrench in your travel plans). Orlando International Airport Not only do you have to worry about those random summer thunderstorms that can seemingly pop up out of nowhere and drench you in the parks (and close rides), but you also have to worry about how those storms — and other weather — could affect your flight to and from Disney World. Well, today, that’s exactly what happened. According to WFTV, the Federal Aviation Administration called a ground stop at several Florida airports, including Orlando International Airport, due to severe thunderstorms. That means that a lot of flights to and from Orlando will probably experience delays today. The ground stop was scheduled to end around 2:30 PM, but there are still a lot of flight delays at Orlando International Airport. FlightAware is currently showing that 253 flights are delayed, with four flights being outright canceled. Nearly every airline that flies into or out of Orlando is currently experiencing delays due to the earlier ground stop. ©FlightAware If you are flying into or out of Orlando International Airport today, you’ll want to make sure you have a way of receiving notifications from your airline. You’ll want to have the airline’s app on your mobile device, but it’s also always a good idea to sign up for text alerts, too, if that’s available. Orlando Airport You’ll also want to keep an eye on the departures screens at the airport to stay updated and listen for any announcements concerning the status of your flight. So we visit Disney World restaurants and dining spots A LOT. That’s basically our job, after all! That means we often get a good handle on food trends. Rubber Duck from The BOATHOUSE For example, last year, we recently noticed that flavored Croissants were EVERYWHERE, and we had several different versions of a Cookie Dough croissant during that time. Recently, the first of the Dubai Chocolate trend arrived in Disney Springs, and we bet it will be everywhere soon. When it comes to beverages, though, we just recently noticed an adorable new trend: tiny toy animals in drinks. Okay, so this is a craze we can get behind. Now, if you’ve ever visited The BOATHOUSE in Disney Springs, you have ordered the specialty cocktail there called the Duck Duck Razz. This drink is made with Skyy Raspberry Vodka, Blue Curacao, Lemon Juice, and Simple Syrup. Not only does it have a pretty blue color, but it also comes with a tiny duck floating on top. This drink has been available there for a while, by the way. The infamous Duck Duck Razz! Well, it seems that other Disney Springs restaurants are jumping on the “put a tiny toy animal in a drink” trend. Recently, The Polite Pig debuted a drink called The Pig Lagoon, made with lemon, lime, coconut cream, and blue Curacao syrup. Well, that drink came with a little toy pig sitting at the top of it. Like, how can you NOT love this? OINK Well, the tiny toy animal trend just recently struck again during the Flavors of Florida event. We picked up a drink at eet by Maneet Chauhan called Hank’s Gulf Coast Sunset. It’s made with vodka, orange juice, candied orange syrup, and a splash of grenadine. But it comes with YOUR CHOICE of a tiny toy animal. We fell in love with this little octopus in a top hat. Isn’t he so cute! Here are the other octopuses you could choose for your drink. They each have their own personality. Look at all of them! So it seems this is becoming a trend in Disney World, and we are here for it. It’s nice ordering a drink and then getting to keep a little souvenir to take home. ©eet by Maneet WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’ve probably already looked at the long list of prohibited items in the parks. Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance This comes in handy when you start packing for your trip, as well as when you start putting together your day bag of park essentials. You’re probably aware you can’t bring in things like weapons, drones, selfie sticks, and things like that. But there are some things that you absolutely can bring into the park that you might think go against the rules, so let’s talk about that. Outside food and drinks Believe it or not, you can bring outside food and drinks into the parks. However, there are some restrictions: you can’t bring items in glass jars, unless it’s baby food (baby food is okay). Also, alcoholic beverages are prohibited, so you can’t bring those in either. Wine may be brought to select Disney Springs restaurants, but corkage fees will be charged. You’ll want to check with the restaurant before you try and bring a bottle in. You can bring snacks in your park bag. However, things like snacks, sodas, water, and other food and drink items can be brought into the parks. So don’t panic if you’ve got kids that need snacks throughout the day — just bring them with you. You’ll also save money by bringing your own food and drinks. Double strollers You may think that double strollers are against the rules, but they aren’t as long as they fit certain size requirements. If the stroller is less than 31 inches in width and 52 inches in length, it is okay to bring into the park. However, stroller wagons are not allowed. Strollers in EPCOT If you do plan on bringing a stroller into the parks, make sure you are familiar with stroller rules in the park, including where you can’t take them (on escalators). You also have to take your children out of strollers when riding parking trams. Also, familiarize yourself with stroller parking throughout the park you’re visiting. Coolers Another item you might think is on the prohibited list are coolers, but you can bring a small cooler into the parks, even if it’s on wheels. Just make sure it’s less than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high. This goes for all suitcases and bags, too. ©Amazon However, there are very specific rules about ice in that cooler, so we’ll get into that, too. Ice Okay, let’s talk about ice. One thing you cannot do is fill up your cooler with ice from your hotel’s ice machine and bring it into the parks. Loose ice is not allowed. However, you can bring ice in a bottle or resealable bag. Loose ice is not allowed Animals No, you can’t just bring your pet into Disney World, although there is a pet care facility if you need your pet cared for while you’re there. However, if you have a trained service animal, that animal is allowed in the parks. Note that there are specific rules, though, for your service animal. Service Animal Area Disney defines a service animal in its policies as a trained dog or miniature horse. They must be on a leash at all times, must be housebroken, and may not be allowed on all rides. Service animals are also not allowed in water, including in water fountains water features. You might be surprised at what you can bring to Disney World, but as always, be sure to look over that list of prohibited items to make sure you’re not breaking the rules. You’ll find a full list on the Disney World website, but here are some things that are strictly prohibited: any weapons or toys that resemble weapons, fireworks, recreational vehicles, folding chairs, selfie sticks, and more. Note that Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has specific rules that ban balloons and plastic straws. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 4 Items That Are Forbidden From Disney World and What to Bring Instead Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! When you plan a trip to Disney World, one of the toughest decisions you have to make is where you’re going to eat. Here at DFB, we’ve got you covered. We like to try out all the different spots, so that we can make the decision of where to go easier for you! Disney’s Animal Kingdom We recently stopped by the Nomad Lounge at Animal Kingdom, and now we’re letting you know if we think it’s worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere This spot is a little tucked away, which makes it a wonderful place to get away from the Disney crowds. It has been one of our favorite spots in Disney World since it opened in 2016! It’s attached to the popular restaurant Tiffins on Discovery Island. Nomad Lounge Nomad Lounge serves up speciality cocktails, small plates, tasty bites, and more at a budget-friendly cost! The lounge has some great and pretty vibes. You can sit at the bar, or outside on the covered patio. Check out the outdoor seating The patio will give you a great view of the Discovery River. Who knows, you may be lucky enough to see some characters passing by on the water! The area is just surrounded by nature, really immersing you into the Animal Kingdom — it’s beautiful! Look at some of the scenery! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu offers lots of small plates ranging from $10-$18… ©Disney …and speciality cocktails start at $15, with the Tropical Rainbow Cocktail sitting at $22.50! ©Disney There are many other drinks offered here including wins, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. Now, let’s move onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Bangkok Chicken Wings for $16. This dish was crispy chicken wings with fish sauce caramel, peanuts, and cilantro. They were very good quality wings — they had a cripsy texture, while also being both tender and soft. Bangkok Chicken Wings! The wings were covered in peanuts, so if you don’t like peanuts, we probably would say this wouldn’t work for you. The peanut flavor was strong and noticeable. There were peppers that also came on the wings, but not very many. These were good quality wings! Everything on the wings complimented it well — the cilantro and the peanuts especially gave it a tasty flavor. We wouldn’t say this was anything crazy special, they are pretty much normal wings, but the quality was great. The only thing we would say is we don’t know if the 5 wings are worth $16. Might be a little on the pricier side We had to grab a sweet treat, so we went with the Churros for $10. It came with vanilla crema and seasonal sauce. These were an AMAZING treat! It’s a fan-favorite pick at the Nomad Lounge. When we were there, everyone around us was ordering them. Then they would leave, and the next group would order them. Look at these Churros! You get 5 churros for $10, which for Disney pricing is a great deal! Both the chocolate and vanilla dips that come with the churros were great. They were sooooo good! It definitely makes more sense to stop by Nomad Lounge and get this for $10, rather than one churro at the park for a little over $6! We’re coming back for these! We also got the Bread Service, which was a basket filled with Papadams — a crispy, chip-like bread made with lentils, Pao de Quiejo — cheesy bread, and Thai Red Curry Milk Bread. The sauces that came with the bread service was Coconut-Curry Sauce, Guava Sauce, and Ginger-Pear Chutney. The bread service came with a variety of foods The Thai Red Curry Milk Bread was pillowy soft and a great vehicle for the sauces. The cheesy bread was chewy and cheesy, and the Papadams were a softer chip that again made a great bite with any of the provided sauces. It also came with sauces! Let’s talk more about those sauces! The guava sauce is sweet and smooth — we especially enjoyed it on the milk bread. The coconut-curry sauce was spicier, and made a good topping for the Papadams, especially. The ginger-pear sauce was flavored with anise — a black licorice taste — so if you don’t enjoy anise, you may want to skip that one. Drinks To drink, we picked up the Leaping Lizard for $17.50. This is made with Malibu Pineapple Rum and leblon cachaça with orange, passion fruit, and mango juices. The Leaping Lizard! The Leaping Lizard was a great drink. It was a very fruity alcoholic drink, so you’ll like this if that’s your vibe. You could taste the pineapple juice very well, and the lime and rum gave it a little bit of a sour kick. You have to stir this really well to get all the flavors to mix into one. All in all, it tasted like an adult pineapple juice. It tastes like spiked pineapple juice! We couldn’t stop there, we had to get the Sinaloa Sangria for $15. It was a South American sangria made with susana balbo ‘crios’ rosé, barsol quebranta pisco, and fresh fruit. This was another fruity drink, with literally a ton of fresh fruit in it. The Sangria! It tasted like a normal sangria for the most part. You could taste the orange more so than the other fruits. As far as a sangria goes, this one was pretty top notch. There was pulp in the drink for anyone out there who gets bothered by pulp in their drink. All in all, it was a good sweet drink. It was so fruity! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… you want somewhere nice to relax. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a big park, and you spend a lot of time outside. This lounge is a great spot to relax and get a drink or a small bite. There is comfortable seating both inside and outside, with the outdoor seating have a pretty view of the water. you’re looking for tasty drinks. If you’re looking to get a tasty alcoholic drink at the park, this is the spot for you. Yes, other places serve alcohol at Animal Kingdom, but the variety you get here you won’t find anywhere else. You should skip this Disney World spot if… you’re really hungry! If you’re looking for a meal, there aren’t a lot of food options at this place. It’s more for small-bites and appetizers. you want something quicker. Even though this is a lounge, you may have to wait a little bit to get seated — the place can be busy at times. If you aren’t looking to use up any precious time during your park visit, there are quick service locations that could help you save that time. Overall Nomad Lounge! Overall, we enjoyed our time at the Nomad Lounge and would 100% come back again (mostly for those churros, we haven’t stopped thinking about them). The place has good appetizers, but is definitely known for the drinks. It’s a nice chill spot to go to when at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Since Animal Kingdom has less rides and attractions, a day there can be more leisurely, and we love putting a relaxing stop at Nomad Lounge on our agenda! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Some BIG things are about to happen in Magic Kingdom. Liberty Square Riverboat In Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be closing soon for a big update. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing a MASSIVE upgrade. A Villains land is being built BEHIND Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Meanwhile, Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat are set to close forever as of tomorrow, July 7th, — and we’re here on the last day before this part of Magic Kingdom changes forever. Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat are all going away to make way for a brand-new Cars expansion, Piston Peak, in Frontierland. This part of Magic Kingdom is set to close tomorrow, July 7th, which means Magic Kingdom is about to look a LOT different. So we visited Magic Kingdom this morning to see what the last day at these attractions looks like. When we arrived in the park, folks were already lined up to ride Liberty Square Riverboat one final time. Line for the Riverboat It’s a good thing you can fit a lot of folks on the riverboat. When it arrived for the first time that morning, it had a lot of people waiting to get on board. In fact, the first trip didn’t start until 10 AM, but we say people lining up around 9 AM. Waiting to board It’s pretty bittersweet to take a final ride around Rivers of America, which will also be closing tomorrow, and say goodbye to the Riverboat… On more ride around the rivers …as well as to some of the sights along the way. We’ll miss this view If you want to get on the Riverboat one final time, the last official ride tonight is at 8:30 PM (it’s usually 8, but there’s a final ride scheduled for tonight at 8:30 PM). Note that you will need to have a wristband (obtained from a Cast Member), though, to hop on that final ride. Cast Members were distributing these wristbands at 10 AM this morning, and there are only a limited number available. Wristband for the final ride We’ll be keeping an eye out for construction walls tomorrow, July 7th, to see how much of this area will be closed off. We’ll also be keeping up with details of the new Cars expansion as Disney works on it, so we can update you on progress. Liberty Square Riverboat Additionally, Tom Sawyer Island is permanently closing. A Cast Member confirmed that there are no special wristbands needed to visit this attraction, and it will be open on its final day of operation from 11 AM to 7 PM. This area will be missed — it was a simple little hideaway inspired by the stories of Mark Twain, filled with passages, secret mined caves, and a frontier fort. Plus, you got some unique views of the Magic Kingdom! Views from Tom Sawyer Island In its place, we will eventually see a new Cars Land called Piston Peak. The area is inspired by National Parks, and specifically, Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The name of Piston Peak stems from the fictional land, Piston Peak National Park, from the 2014 Disney film Planes: Fire & Rescue (which is part of the Cars universe). Coming Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. So, what’s coming to this Cars-themed area? Guests can look forward to two NEW Cars attractions! Get ready to race through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as you dodge geysers and splash through mud holes on an exciting and thrilling rally race ride. Disney also shared that the second ride will be geared toward “smaller racers” and will be fun for the whole family! The Disneyland Resort has a limited number of character dining experiences, but that doesn’t mean each one will be right for you and your family. Character dining at Storytellers Cafe The Resort currently offers only four different locations where you can find character dining experiences. Each location has its own set of pros and cons that are worth considering before booking a reservation. We’ll be going over those details so you’re fully informed before your next Disneyland vacation! Before we get into it, one thing should be known: There aren’t any bad character dining options. Disneyland has usually prided itself on quality over quantity, and that rings true for these restaurants. Still, some may work better for you than others. It’s also worth noting that character dining experiences can be much more interactive than dining anywhere else at Disneyland. If talking to characters is a daunting prospect, this may not be the type of dining for you. However, if you’re game, these tips will help you choose a restaurant! Minnie & Friends Breakfast at the Plaza Inn Plaza Inn on Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A. is known for its Victorian charm, and has been serving guests since Disneyland’s opening day in 1955 (when it was called Red Wagon Inn). It’s also home to the famous Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park! Minnie at Plaza Inn We find the atmosphere here at this all-you-care-to eat breakfast that offers classics like Mickey waffles, cold cereals, fresh fruit, scrambed eggs, breakfast meats, omlets, and more! Plaza Inn Buffet In the past, the quality here has been good, but not great (there are some better options in that category). You’re also limited to only breakfast if you want to see characters — so late risers will be out of luck here. Tigger was QUITE the character Still, the pricing is on par with the more affordable character dining experiences AND it’s the only character dining experience in Disneyland Park, which definitely makes it worth a visit! We loved our most recent experience and can’t wait to come back! Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast and Brunch Buffets and Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet at Storytellers Cafe Storytellers Cafe, in Disneyland Resort’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, is a buffet-style restaurant that celebrates the art of storytelling through large paintings and murals, silhouettes, and stained glass design elements throughout the space. Home to Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet, Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet, and Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet, this restaurant is dedicated to character dining. ©Disney The characters at these buffets rotate, and you’ll find food options such as croissants, muffins, danishes, fresh fruit, and Mickey Waffles, Chile Verde Chilaquiles, hand-carved meats, an omelet station, and Egg White Frittata for breakfast, while brunch offers the same and more like flatbreads, beignets, and more. Dinner has some elevated buffet finds like baby back spareribs, slowroasted prime rib with creamy horseradish, fried chicken, creamed corn, s’mores bread pudding, and more! ©Disney This spot has a welcoming, warm atmosphere with great service. Overall, it offers really strong quality. However, it is a bit pricey than some other options and is outside of the parks, so keep that in mind. Still, if you’re looking to balance price, character experience variety, and strong food quality, this might be the spot for you! Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Trillium Room Currently offered in the Trillium Room at the Grand Californian while Napa Rose undergoes its refurbishment, Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures is considered the highest quality character dining experience at the Disneyland Resort Belle at Princess Breakfast Adventures The menu here features breakfast entrees as well as savory luncheon items in addition to special desserts. You’ll find items like coconut cookies & cream chia parfait, Chef Louie’s Mini Lobster Roll, Tiana’s Famous Beignets, Princess Jasmine’s Banana Wrap, and Pocahontas Ah-maize-ing Cornbread. There’s also the classics like Mickey Waffles, house-made mac & cheese, and scrambled eggs. Keep an eye out for the maple turkey sausage with caramelized pears and figs, breakfast deviled eggs, braised short ribs with balsamic cipollini onions, truffle mac & cheese, and roasted rainbow carrots in a parsnip and celery root puree. Finish your meal off with desserts like Ariel’s Dingle Hopper Vanilla Cake Pops, Pocahontas Colors of the Wind Sorbet, Princess Aurora Chocolate Cream Puffs, and Tiana’s Pistachio Macarons. Braised Beef Short Rib The experience here is more hands-on, as “kids can let their imaginations soar during one-of-a-kind Princess-themed activities. Upon arrival, Disney Princesses are waiting to greet you and share in your hopes and dreams prior to taking a photo on a beautiful private patio. You may take part in storytime with Belle or learn some fierce warrior poses with Mulan.” The food is also served as a 3-course meal and is generally considered elite when compared to the quality at the other buffets. Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures The rub? This experience is for breakfast only, and you’re looking at $142 PER PERSON before tax and gratuity. It ain’t cheap. Goofy’s Kitchen Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel is a lively and lets you enjoy an upbeat character buffet meal where you can meet characters like Pluto, Chip ‘n Dale, Minnie, and Goofy! Goofy’s Kitchen In the $60 range for adults and $35 for kids, Goofy’s Kitchen is a more affordable all-you-care-to-enjoy option with the added perk of being able to meet characters. This restaurant offers character experiences for breakfast/brunch AND dinner, and you’ll find fun options like a meat carving station, create-your-own-omlet station, and a dessert buffet in addition to a plethora of other items. We devoured it all This spot is very fast-paced and ideal for young kids, so if you’re looking for something quieter, this ain’t it. And while the food is good, it’s not as recommended as some of the other options. Hi Minnie! Still, this spot has something for everyone and is a great option for families with big appetites! Planning a Disney Cruise sounds like a dream — until you pick the wrong week. Disney Wish Not all cruise dates are created equal, and we’re here to help you steer clear of the ones that are just too packed to be enjoyable. Port Canaveral sees some seriously heavy traffic during certain times of the year, which can make even the most magical voyage feel like a chaotic ferry ride. If you’re booking a Disney Cruise in 2025, these are the dates that may feel the most crowded. Sailing Over Christmas? You and Half the Country Had the Same Idea Look, we get the appeal. Spending Christmas on a Disney Cruise sounds like pure magic — festive decorations, themed treats, characters in their holiday best. But it’s also one of the busiest, most expensive times to sail. Getting ready to board Every family trying to make holiday memories jumps on these sailings, so the ship fills up fast, prices skyrocket, and crowds are unavoidable. The port itself is also a zoo, since you’re not the only one trying to board a ship that week. If you’re set on a holiday cruise, go in with realistic expectations and a whole lot of patience. Otherwise, we’d recommend sailing in early December for the same holiday vibes without the crowds and chaos. New Year’s Cruises = Packed and Pricey Disney Cruises over New Year’s Eve are another major crowd magnet. You’ll get a cool countdown party at sea and some impressive fireworks, but you’ll pay a premium for it — and you’ll be packed in with everyone else who thought it would be a fun way to ring in 2025. Port Canaveral Expect higher-than-usual fares, limited stateroom availability, and an extra-busy embarkation process at Port Canaveral. Not to mention flights are a nightmare to book affordably during this time. Unless you absolutely must cruise into the new year, we suggest skipping this week and opting for mid-January instead. The crowds drop, and the savings go up. Time to check in! So yeah, if you’re aiming for a specific ship, date, or room category, waiting will cost you—either in dollars or experience. We find that the BEST way to book a Disney cruise and know you’re getting the best deal available is to use a travel agent who specializes in Disney — we recommend Small World Vacations! You can grab a free quote from them right here! Summer Break = Family Cruise Overload June through early August is peak Disney Cruise season for families. School’s out, and Port Canaveral turns into a never-ending wave of families starting their vacations. Every sailing is close to full capacity, and while Disney is great at managing crowds, it still means longer lines, fewer available reservations for onboard activities, and a packed terminal on embarkation day. Disney Wish Don’t be surprised if the vibe on board feels a little less chill and a lot more high-energy. If your dream cruise includes some quiet time or an adult-focused experience, summer may not be ideal. If you absolutely need to cruise during summer break, try to aim for the last week of August — things tend to calm down a bit once some school districts head back. Thinking about 2026? Spring Break Crowds Take Over March and April March and April are classic Spring Break months, and you better believe that’s true for Disney Cruises too. Between public schools, private schools, and universities, you’re looking at a rolling wave of vacationers flooding the port and the ships every single week for nearly two months. Cruise If you’re hoping for a laid-back vibe by the pool, Spring Break is not your time. Pool decks will be packed, kid clubs will be maxed out, and every popular activity will be booked solid. And yes, it starts the minute you hit Port Canaveral. Security lines, parking, check-in — all of it takes longer. If you have flexibility, aim for late April or early May. You’ll get better weather and fewer crowds. Bottom Line: Timing Is Everything You don’t need a secret spreadsheet or a travel agent on speed dial to pick a decent cruise date — you just need to avoid the big three: holidays, Spring Break, and peak summer. Cruising during these windows can still be magical, but only if you’re prepared for the extra noise, crowds, and costs. Here we go! Planning smarter means smoother sailing from the second you pull into Port Canaveral. So save yourself the headache and shoot for those less hectic weeks — your sanity (and your wallet) will thank you. We’re bringing you ALL the latest Disney news, updates, and more right here at DFB! The bathroom The shower doubled as both a bathtub and shower. The shower There is a detachable shower head along with a rain shower head. Bath products The vanity also has bathroom products and a bar of soap. Vanity area Now let’s go down the hallway and check out the bedroom area! Let’s check out the bedroom! As we mentioned before, our room configuration sleeps four and has two queen-sized beds. The bedroom Each of the beds is raised, which allows you to store your luggage under your bed, just like the beds aboard Disney Cruise Line! We found the beds to be so comfortable! There are two different types of pillow firmnesses on the bed, and the mattresses were very plush. We have stayed at every single Disney World hotel. In our professional experience, we have given Aulani the first-place medal for most comfortable Disney beds, even beating out DCL! Aulani Standard Room While it may not seem like too big of a deal, there is a clock on the nightstand. Most Disney World resorts did away with clocks, but Aulani still has one in the room, which is helpful if you are dealing with a time change! Clock The nightstand also has a lamp, paper, a pen, and a welcome note from housekeeping. Paper and pen The room has a sitting area that has a square table with two chairs, which is excellent for having a meal in your room or to get some work done. Sitting area Our favorite detail is this adorable Mickey lamp! He is ready for a day at the beach with his surfboard and ukelele! Hey, Mickey! Next to the sitting area, you will find the dresser and a small coffee area. The room also has a flat-screen TV. Aulani Standard Room The dresser has a nice amount of drawer space and features a surprise in the middle. We love the Disney touches! There was also a fun Mickey towel, complete with a flower on the dresser, to welcome us to the resort! Mini Fridge The cabinet in the middle of the dresser is not for clothes storage, but instead is a hidden mini fridge! Keurig Instead of a traditional coffee pot, the room comes with a Keurig and a selection of K-cups. Cups and ice bucket This storage area also has cold cups and an ice bucket. There are a few open shelves that can be great for storing snacks. The moment you have all been waiting for! We stayed in a room with a Poolside Gardens View, and the view was amazing! The balcony The balcony has a small square table and two chairs. We were able to see part of the pool area and plenty of greenery! Room keys Well, there you have it, a full tour of a Standard Room with a Poolside Gardens View at Aulani!
