  1. It’s “curtain up” for the newest episode of “We Call It Imagineering,” and this time we’re taking you backstage with Disney Live Entertainment. As the theatrical arm of Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Live Entertainment is the group that creates, produces, and delivers all the entertainment experiences at Disney destinations – and beyond! – the world over. We do everything from parades and character greetings to stage shows, special events, and nighttime spectaculars. I’ve had the privilege of leading Disney Live Entertainment for the past seven years. Every day, I find myself surrounded by some of the most creative and inspiring entertainment professionals in the industry, including writers, directors, producers, designers, technical experts, costumers, and so many others. I’m thrilled that in this episode, you get to spend some time with them, too, as we take you behind the scenes on the stunning new spectacular “Disney Tales of Magic” at Disneyland Paris, go up close on the design details in the new “Friendtastic!” parade for the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort 20th Anniversary, and drop in on a “World of Color Happiness!” overnight rehearsal for the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration. We’re also giving you your very first look at “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away,” the dazzling new nighttime parade debuting July 20 at Walt Disney World! You will see some of the incredible floats lighting up for the first time as the team works through programming and rehearsals, and you’ll meet Whimsy, an original character created just for “Disney Starlight.” We can’t wait for you to see the finished parade in the park. It’s an impressive theatrical spectacle! Everything our team produces – be it large or small, indoors, outdoors, or at sea – we think of in terms of theatre. This idea goes back to Walt Disney, who often described Disneyland as a show with everyone being onstage. Live entertainment has been a key component of the Disneyland experience since day one, 70 years ago. The Disney characters were here on opening day, as was the Disneyland Band, and there was a grand parade down Main Street, U.S.A. While Disney Live Entertainment has grown more sophisticated over the years, leading the entertainment industry with one innovation after another, those core elements continue to be part of our DNA. We delight in entertaining you with the familiar and then surprising you with new experiences and things you maybe didn’t expect. Disney Live Entertainment introduced the first parade soundtrack to change as it follows each float down the route, the first nighttime electrical parade, the first computer-synchronized fireworks show, the first (and still only) fireworks at sea, the first daily operating drone show, and so much more! Be sure to watch the Disney Live Entertainment episode of “We Call It Imagineering” for a look inside our latest productions and to hear from some of the people creating magic every day. While you’re at it, check out (or revisit) the other episodes in the series, highlighting Audio-Animatronics technology, music production, and the brilliant ride systems Imagineering creates. And for even more peeks behind the scenes, you can follow Disney Live Entertainment on Instagram and check out Walt Disney Imagineering on Instagram and YouTube. 2. To say we’re excited about Disney World’s NEW Nighttime Parade is an understatement! ©Disney A lighted parade on Main Street, U.S.A. is just…well (forgive the major cliche here) MAGICAL. We’ve gotten a few looks at the concept art for the parade, costumes for the characters, and some merch that will be released — and today, we are getting to see some actual floats in action! Disney Imagineering just released a new episode of its YouTube show — “We Call It Imagineering” — and we’re getting some new looks at the parade! ©Disney The parade’s show director describes the parade as a “constellation of Disney Dreams.” The parade will start with the blue fairy and then head to the rooftops of London. Then we know there will be floats featuring characters from Encanto, Frozen, and Coco! Next up will be Moana, and then the finale train float, and (get this!) there is a NEW character created for this parade — WHIMSY! There’s Whimsy! Whimsy is made of Starlight — and he rides in on the train float. We know he can dance, and that he was based on vintage Disney animation (think Silly Symphonies!). That train will pull cars with so many favorite Disney characters…from princesses to the Fab 5. Disney just revealed the first view of it! ©Disney Disney promises that Disney Starlight will be “funny, sweet, and thrilling.” This NEW sneak peek shows the lighting design and some new technology being used and wow, it really seems to live up to the “starlight” name! ©Disney We’re also hearing more of the music from the parade, and the details involved in the sound design for the show. GPS zones are set up to insure you hear the right music at the exact time you’re seeing the float. There’s also SO MUCH tech in the costume designs — Disney has made a custom “galaxy print” for the costumes, and each light on the costumes is individually placed to make the performers look “kissed by starlight.” Disney Starlight debuts July 20th in Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Jiminy Cricket — another Disney character made of starlight — will end the parade (in a “wink back” to a classic Disney nighttime parade — Spectro-Magic). Disney says the lighted costumes in the parade are also synced to the music! ©Disney For lots more details, check out Disney Imagineering’s new video! Disney Starlight kicks off on July 20th, and of course DFB will be there to bring you the first look at the new parade! 5. Disney Adults have caught on to a fun trend at EPCOT! Canada Pavilion at EPCOT We visit EPCOT all the time to experience the great eats, terrific rides, and take in the unique atmosphere. During our visits, we sometimes notice little magical moments — and one of these discoveries has become very popular among Disney Adults! EPCOT’s World Showcase is home to 11 pavilions that house awesome rides and unique food and beverages. It’s also home to special character meet-and-greets! Who else LOVES ‘Beauty and the Beast’? Sometimes when you’re walking through World Showcase, you can come across Character Paloozas — pop-up character meet-and-greets! These special encounters can happen randomly out of the blue, and we’ve seen a plethora of RARE characters gather in certain places for a short meet-up. Hey, Stitch! These Character Paloozas often happen in the sections between the countries, and we’ve seen it happen the most often near the American Adventure Pavilion or in front of World Showplace, which is between the United Kingdom and Canada pavilions. Look for the big brown gates. When these gates are open, inside you might just find a group of characters! We’ve even spotted rare characters like Jack and Sally! 7. There’s a new stop along the popular tour at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and it presents views that showcase Florida’s nature and modern technology. The Gantry at LC-39 is now available to the public at the Brevard County attraction, part of its Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour. The area includes a four-story structure topped by an interactive rocket design experience and showcases a test-fire simulation to folks on the ground. It’s designed to present fun, hands-on activities alongside education, said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of the visitor complex. “We’re learning about the dwell time and what captures kids,” he said. One attention-grabber is the rocket seen in the gantry and a big-screen countdown steered by Sol, referred to as artificial intelligence. Once we get hit 3-2-1-zero, the unit swings and lets off steam upon observers below. It’s meant to be a fiery simulation, but, fear not, it’s certainly more foggy than fearfully hot. Those engine components are real pieces from an Apollo-era J-2 rocket engine. Up on the top level (accessed by stairways or elevator) is an enclosed, air-conditioned area that gets into engineering aspects and the hands-on building of virtual space vehicles. “You get to build a rocket, and you get to learn what it takes for different types of missions, which engines to pick, how much fuel to pick and the payload capacity you need in order to make that launch successful,” Protze said. A dozen designing people face monitors at a time in this activity, but also intriguing are the stools there. They’re pistons from one of NASA’s famed Crawler-Transporters. On the in-between levels are open-air views of historic launch pads. In some cases there are binoculars to look at nature (wild pigs and vultures) as well as Launch Complex 39 – Pad B, from where the Hubble Space Telescope was sent up, and the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The bleachers area also was expanded for watching real-life launches from pads 40 and 41, which are about 2.7 miles away from Gantry at LC-39. On the ground level are shaded play areas inspired by Florida wildlife such as alligators and sea turtles. Nearby is the Earth Information Center with a four-minute film and electronic displays, including the Science on a Sphere, a floating globe that reveals data on topics such as ocean temperatures, aerosols in the air and fires, as seen from space. The gantry, where many space shuttle launches were witnessed, once was a stop on an extra-ticket V.I.P. tour only. Now it’s part of the standard tour included with regular admission to the visitor center. Guests may linger as long as they desire in the gantry area, then catch another bus headed for the Apollo/Saturn V Center. There’s plenty to read and absorb, including a tale about an alligator getting into the Vehicle Assembly Building (thanks, automatic doors) and the fact that NASA tests engines at the Stennis Space Center in south Mississippi before sending them to KSC. “The best thing to do is explore,” Protze said. “That’s what Kennedy is all about. That’s what space exploration is all about.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. X account: @themeparks. 9. It feels like there is always construction happening at Disney World, and that’s because there almost always is! Yacht Club When we headed to this popular Disney World Resort, we were hit with massive construction walls when we tried to enter. Let’s take a look at what’s happening! Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is “undergoing routine exterior maintenance from early June through September 2025.” The entire front entrance is completely enclosed by walls! Lots of walls up When we first came up, we didn’t know which way to enter. Don’t worry — there are signs and Cast Members guiding you to the entrance. Come on in! Disney warned that construction noise may be heard during daytime hours, and when we visited, we couldn’t hear much from the lobby but could see plenty of active construction workers in the area moving equipment and supplies. Active construction Valet, as well as the medical parking spots in the front, are still available. When we were there, Cast Members were stationed to direct and answer questions about parking. A closer look Right now, Shipwreck Pool and the Flying Jib Slide are closed for routine maintenance but are expected to reopen sometime this month. The other pools are still available to enjoy! 13. Aloha from Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa! Makahiki Aulani is a Disney Vacation Club Resort located in Ko Olina, Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. This resort is breathtaking and is home to some good eats as well as touches of Disney! Just like Disney World, Aulani offers a character meal during breakfast at their family-friendly restaurant, Makahiki — The Bounty of the Islands. If you have ever wondered what it is like to dine with Mickey and the gang in Hawaii, we are taking you along with us for a review of Makahiki! Let’s go! Atmosphere Makahiki is themed after the seasonal celebration of the harvest, Makahiki. During the daytime, Makahiki is brighter for breakfast as it is an open-air restaurant and is also more laid back. Meanwhile, for dinner, the lighting changes, which makes it feel a bit more upscale. The walls are decorated with murals representing Makahiki, and the lighting fixtures also reflect the harvest. Makahiki While reservations are not required, they are highly recommended and can be made 30 days in advance. When you check in at the host stand, they send you straight into a line to meet Mickey, like a traditional character meet and greet with a cute photo-op spot. We got sent outside to meet Mickey first When it is your turn to meet Mickey, a PhotoPass photographer will be there to take your picture. Aloha, Mickey! During your meal, a Cast Member will come around to ask if you would like to buy the photo package. They show you your picture, and you can get a digital download as well as a printed picture. This package costs $45. Don’t worry, you can still get pictures taken on your phone! Photo Package Before we were officially seated, they had us swing by to meet Chef Goofy. This was similar to the photo-op we had with Mickey. After meeting Goofy, we were seated at our table. Chef Goofy Then both Max and Pluto came around to our table. Pluto They came around to our table three times, and the interactions were fantastic! Although they came around a lot, it did not feel like they were interrupting our meal. Max! As we mentioned, dining during breakfast is a little more casual as your table is just set with rolled silverware, whereas during dinner, our table was set with a placemat, plate, and multiple utensils. Makahiki during breakfast In addition to meeting characters, there was also live music! Live Music Menu During both breakfast and dinner, Makahiki offers a three-course prix-fixe menu. You get two starters, followed by your choice of an array of entrees. Makahiki Breakfast Menu Drinks Of course, no Disney breakfast would be complete without ordering a glass of POG, which is pineapple, orange, and guava juice. It tasted a bit different than the POG juice we are used to getting at Disney World, as it was a bit lighter. Nonetheless, it was still refreshing! POG! Eats For our first starter, we got the Seasonal Fresh Fruit. It was good, but there was a lot of it! The fruit rotates based on the season, but when we dined we got pineapple, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Fresh Fruit In our opinion, we felt that this meal was a bit fruit-heavy as some of the entrees also come with fruit. Starters Along with the fresh fruit, we got Malasada. This is described as Hawaii’s favorite Portuguese sugar donut. It was super soft and dougy and pulled apart nicely. It was not glazed and instead just coasted in sugar. Malasada Each of these is counted as a separate course, and we feel like this meal should not really count as a three-course meal when it counts as a donut and fruit course. For our first entree, we ordered the Belgian Style Waffle, which came with fresh berries, country cream, and warm Vermont maple syrup, as well as the choice of bacon, pork link sausage, Portuguese sausage, chicken apple sausage, or ham. We swapped our Belgian Style Waffle for Mickey and Minnie Waffles instead! Mickey and Minnie Waffles The waffles were classic from what you would expect, fluffy, doughy, and crispy on the outside. The Mickey Waffles were just your classic waffle, whereas the Minnie Waffles were red velvet. They were a bit more richer and had a slight chocolate taste. This was a pretty substantial portion for us. Waffles! If you are looking for a special Hawaiin dish, this is not it, but still, it is fun to get Mickey and Minnie Waffles! We did make sure to get a Hawaiin-geared dish and ordered the Hawaiin-Style Loco Moco with fresh ground hamburger steak, two eggs sunny side up, Portuguese sausage fried rice, and Maui onion gravy. Hawaiin-Style Loco Moco Our egg was well-cooked, nice, and runny. We also really liked the gravy; it was savory and peppery. This was a nice Hawaiian comfort food meal. This dish actually has some history as it was made as an alternative to a burger! Hawaiin-Style Loco Moco Overall We really enjoyed this meal and honestly liked it better than dinner at Makahiki. You get a good amount of food and fantastic interactions with the characters. Plus, it is a great way to start your morning out on the patio. Overall, this is one of our favorite dining experiences at Aulani! Full Breakfast Spread Nosh or Not You are going to want to head on over for Makahiki for breakfast if you… Want to have a character meal. It was a cool experience to get to meet the characters in Hawaii, and we got to have a lot of great interactions with them. Want to try out some Hawaiian breakfast dishes. While we did order Mickey and Minnie Waffles, we really enjoyed trying the Hawaiin-style Loco Moco as well as Malasada. Want to enjoy breakfast in the Hawaiian sun. Part of the reason we loved this experience so much is because we felt like it was a great way to wake up and start our day. You may want to have breakfast elsewhere if… You do not like character meals. Although we did not feel like the characters were interrupting our meal, if you don’t like to interact with characters, you may want to skip out on this one. Want a more upscale meal. Breakfast at Makahiki is a bit more laid back than dinner, but still, overall, the restaurant is more casual when compared to Aulani’s signature restaurant, AMA‘AMA. 14. We’re still mourning the closure of PizzeRizzo, but what if we told you that you could still enjoy some of their menu items at a new location? Yep, it surprises us too! Catalina Eddie’s If you head to Catalina Eddie’s, also in Hollywood Studios, you’ll find favorite PizzeRizzo items to order! Let’s try a few items to see what it’s like on Sunset Boulevard without sitting in the Wedding Room at PizzeRizzo. First, we tried the Alfredo Basil Chicken Pasta for $13.29, which is served with a slice of Garlic Bread. Alfredo Basil Chicken Pasta As soon as we took a bite, we were surprised by how much we enjoyed it! The sauce was creamy and cheesy, coating the pasta nicely. It wasn’t drowning in sauce, but there was plenty hidden in the twists of the noodles. There were even crispy breadcrumbs on top, which gave it a nice crunch. The chicken was on the drier side, but we loved the bubble cheese and marinara sauce on top. The breading on the chicken wasn’t as crispy as we prefer, but we appreciated how it made the whole dish more filling with the pasta. It was a great-sized plate and can definitely be a whole meal or an easy lunch if you’re sharing. The chicken The garlic bread was the real star! It was crispy on the edges and fluffy in the middle. It reminded us of Texas toast and wasn’t overly greasy on our fingers. Who doesn’t love garlic bread with pasta? So fluffy Then we had the Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta, also served with Garlic Bread, for $13.19. Chicken Parmesan This plate of pasta had the same chicken as the Aldredo Basil Chicken, and while the piece was a little bigger, we thought it tasted the same. Although the pasta was cooked well, we were not in love with the tomato sauce. There were chunks of tomatoes in it, which gave it a great bite, but it reminded us of cafeteria tomato sauce, which is not our ideal pasta experience. Same chicken as the other dish! We appreciated the large chicken piece on top, and again, that bubbly cheese is hard to dislike. It’s the same tomato sauce on the chicken as on the pasta, and while it wasn’t the most original dish we’ve seen, if someone in your family needs an easy meal that they know they’ll enjoy, the Chicken Parmesan might just be that. More garlic bread! For dessert, we opted for the Cannoli, priced at $5.29. Cannoli As pretty as it is, this cannoli won’t change your life. It might look crispy, but it was sitting in a fridge waiting for us and did not provide that classic, crunchy shell. We did enjoy the flavor of the filling, which is very traditional. The powdered sugar on top was fun, paired with the milk chocolate shards on the side. The filling It’s hard to recommend this because it wasn’t the texture a cannoli should be. If you’re here for the filling, this might be for you, but if you love that perfect texture, we would head somewhere else. We’re going to be dreaming about garlic bread every time we walk through Sunset Boulevard, but in the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for all the best Disney news you need for your next vacation. 15. A hidden gem that we love at Disney World is the bars and lounges! These spots are an oasis from the busy crowds of the theme parks. To make them the paradise they are, seating is limited, and you might struggle to get a reservation. Manhattan in the Morning Mocktail at GEO-82 We spoke with the Disney experts (i.e., our incredible team of writers and reporters) to ask for their tips on securing those coveted spots. Here are the best tricks we have! Keep on checking We know it feels unlikely that reservations will open up, but trust us, we’ve seen crazier things at Disney! Be sure to check the Disney My Experience app or website regularly to see if more reservations become available. Truffled Ahi Tuna at GEO-82 From our experience, we’ve found that the closer we get to the date we want to go, the more likely we’ve seen reservations open. We’ve been lucky to snag a few the day before, but the only way you can do that is to keep checking, checking, checking. Use sites to give notification alerts There are a few third-party sites connected to Disney where you can sign up for notification alerts when reservations become available. You can choose the preferred locations and desired date and time range, and you’ll receive a text or email notification when a spot becomes available. Rosado This is a great way to “keep checking the app” without having to constantly be on your phone. Sesid Seltzer at Oga’s Cantina Sometimes, you’ll need to line up to get a spot Some locations, such as Trader Sam’s, don’t require reservations. Instead, you need to go to the area and join the waitlist. Be prepared to get there early and be willing to wait if you really want that spot. Time to get in line! While we would love to book a reservation in advance, some places are so busy that we would never find an available spot. These types of bars are perfect for your check-in or check-out days when you’re not planning on heading to a park. Check for walk-up availability Sometimes, the magic password is going to the host stand and asking for available reservations! Please note that this is not guaranteed, and especially during the busiest times of the year, there may not be a spot available for you. This doesn’t mean it’s not worth asking! Drinks at Nomad Lounge Keep in mind that a significant amount of walk-up availability will require you to sit at the bar. If you’re looking for a table, seating may take longer to become available, or it may not be available at all. Bar seating When a lounge is new, it’s likely that same-day reservations won’t be available. Currently, GEO-82, the newest lounge to open in EPCOT, does not offer walk-up reservations, regardless of whether you sit at the bar or the main room. Sit at at the bar…trust us. Keep an eye on your group size Sometimes we can’t find a reservation for two people, but we can find one for three! It might be time to invite your bestie to come hang out with you and make the table size a little bigger. This might be frustrating, but if you can be flexible with your party size, you might be able to get a reservation when you want it. Enchanted Rose Lounge If you really want to get into that bar, you might have to put a little more work into getting that reservation. It might feel like a lot of hoopla to get it, but once you’re sitting down in a comfy chair with a drink in your hand, you’ll be thanking yourself for all of your hard work. 16. When it comes to dining in Disneyland, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Disney has it. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that too. Disneyland We recently stopped by Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is this character dining spot worth your time and money? Find out here! Atmosphere Over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, you can find Storytellers Cafe! This restaurant is located near the hotel’s pool and right next to Napa Rose. The entrance! This table service is a character dining spot where you can meet Mickey Mouse… He’s so cute! …Minnie Mouse… Hi Minnie! …Pluto… Here, boy! …plus Chip… We love you, Chip! … and Dale! Hey Dale! Where’s Chip? This restaurant itself is a cozy, craftsman-style atmosphere with lots of seating. Inside the Restaurant! The restaurant is lively, but not too loud! It has tons of seating options, including traditional tabletops and booths. You can see tons of earthy inspiration throughout the tables, chairs, and even the carpet! Want a seat by the fireplace? But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu This restaurant is a buffet-style dining spot where you can grab breakfast, brunch, or dinner! We stopped by for brunch, and it cost $55 per adult and $33 per child. The buffet! For brunch, you can find cold selections including a yogurt parfait bar, assorted cereals and milk, pastries, croissants, muffins, danishes, a seasonal vegetable salad, an artisanal composed salad, a smoked salmon bar, and fruits and berries. The danishes! For hot selections, you can grab steel-cut oats, eggs, and an omelet station, Chef’s special of the day, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles, chili verde chilaquiles, hash browns, bread pudding with caramel sauce and creme anglaise, and a flatbread of the day! Some breakfast options! You can also find more kid-friendly options like chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and french fries! We’re hungry right now! Options on the buffet are subject to change without notice, so be prepared before you head to the buffet. And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats During our stop by the buffet, we started with the make-your-own omelet bar! You can choose from whole eggs, egg whites, or vegan eggs. After that, you can add cheddar jack cheese, vegan cheese, bacon, sausage, chorizo, ham, soyrizo, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos, tomatoes, avocados, spinach, and black olives. The options for the omelet! We grabbed traditional eggs with cheese, bell peppers, and bacon! Everything in here was super fresh and flavorful! The bell peppers were crispy, while the bacon had a savory flavor. The eggs were the perfect consistency for an omelet. Our omelet! It was also a decent-sized omelet if that’s what you’re looking for! We also tried the chilaquiles! There was a bit of a kick here, but nothing too strong. The salad and carnitas had bold flavors that we were really impressed by. They also weren’t soggy, which you tend to see with chilaquiles, so we were very pleased. Our breakfast plate! Our Mickey Waffle was cooked to perfection with a golden brown outside that offered an amazing crunch but a light and fluffy inside. It was also perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. Another look at the buffet! The other breakfast options were traditional yet tasty options that we enjoyed! During our brunch, we also grabbed a second plate with more traditional lunch options for anyone who isn’t the biggest breakfast fan. Brunch offerings are served from 10:30 AM to 1:45 PM, so if you want a mix, make sure your reservation is after 10:30. Our lunch plate! We grabbed the Top Sirloin, but sadly, we weren’t all that impressed with this one. While it visually looked like juicy, well-cooked cuts, we found ours to be pretty dry and bland. Luckily, the roasted turkey was the opposite of the sirloin! The turkey was moist with a salty and savory flavor, which we really appreciated after the sirloin. A closer look at the sirloin! We grabbed the Southwest Couscous Salad for some vegetables. This, as well as the other salads we tried, was super fresh, and the vegetables and pearl couscous felt very high quality. We noticed the Cast Members also constantly refilled each food item throughout our dining experience to ensure the food was fresh and warm. A closer look at our salad. There were several dessert options, but the one that blew us away was the Watermelon and Lime Sorbet! This was easily one of our favorites. Our dessert plate! It was a balanced mix of sweet and tart flavors. It also served as a lighter dessert option with fresh and vibrant flavors. The sorbet! There were so many options at this buffet, but these were the ones that seriously stood out. Nosh or Not This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if… You want to meet Disney characters You are craving a mix of familiar and adventurous items Or you’re staying at this resort! You should skip this Disneyland spot if… You aren’t super close to the hotel You are trying to save some money Or if you have picky eaters that won’t get your money’s worth Overall We would definitely recommend booking your reservation for noon at the latest! We went at 12:50 PM, so we had less than an hour before last call, which makes it harder to get your money’s worth. Due to our later reservation, we on;y got to see each character one time, making the interactions feel rushed and short. Another look at our delicious breakfast! We loved the food and would go earlier for better character interactions. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. 17. Heading to Disney World this summer? You’re not alone! We’ve got plenty of tips on how to beat the heat and avoid those pesky crowds — but our best tips are all about FOOD. EPCOT EPCOT is home to some of our favorite Disney World restaurants, whether fancy sit-down meals or quick grab-and-go options. And now, there’s a NEW lunch offering available from Nine Dragons in the China Pavilion — let’s get into the details. Right now, Nine Dragons restaurant in the China Pavilion at EPCOT is offering a three-course menu for the summer! This restaurant specializes in Pan-Asian cuisine, and we’ve had some excellent meals here. It’s a great option for taking a break from the heat, and this new lunch offering only makes it even better. Nine Dragons When you choose the three-course lunch option, you’ll get a choice of one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert. It’s available from 12 PM to 4 PM daily, from now until August 31st. If you’re planning a summer trip to EPCOT, this might be a great way to try a new restaurant or hit one of your old favorites. Meal at Nine Dragons The food here is better than your hometown Chinese cuisine, featuring Cantonese, Mongolian, Szechuan, Hunan, and Kiangche-style dishes. We’ve enjoyed our meals at Nine Dragons, but we have heard mixed reviews from fans over the years. If you find yourself without a reservation in the World Showcase, this might be a good spot to try. The main wall of the central dining room showcases beautiful glass figures of — What else? — Nine dragons! Nine Dragons Some of our favorite menu items here include the Honey Chicken, Spicy Ma La Beef, and Ube Cheesecake. Just look at it! 18. Disney just shared a NEW look inside The Beak and Barrel! This brand-new lounge, themed to the classic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, is coming to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. The Beak and Barrel ©Disney We have been eagerly awaiting more information about this new lounge, and now we are getting a chance to see inside The Beak and Barrel with some Disney Imagineers! Next up, Chris took us to one of her favorite spots at the lounge. Next to the main bar, you can see where the pirates fired cannonballs in order to get into the Mapmaker’s Room. The room had been locked, so pirates had to blast their way in! You can still spot cannonballs in the walls and debris from their entry. Finally, we got a look at the feature of the space, the backbar. Cannonballs in the wall at The Beak and Barrel ©Disney We have seen concept art for a few of the rooms in the lounge. We have gotten a look at the main dining room, or The Mess. As well as a look inside the Captains’ Quarters. 20. Can you believe it is already time to start thinking about the holiday season? While it may not be quite time to start hanging up garland and decorating the Christmas tree (although no judgement if you have already started!), it is time to start planning your Disney World trip! Christmas Decorations in Magic Kingdom Disney recently revealed a BUNCH of details about the holiday season at Disney World, including information about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, and Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s take a look at EVERYTHING that Disney has confirmed for this year’s Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Event Details First up, let’s start with the basics! Jollywood Nights is a separately ticketed event that happens on select nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The event nights for this year’s Jollywood Nights are: November 8th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th December 1st, 6th, 10th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 22nd Jollywood Nights The event officially runs from 7:30 PM until 12:30 AM. However, with an event ticket, you can enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios as early as 5:30 PM, so you can get two full hours of fun in before the party even starts. Then you have five hours of party time to enjoy all the special offerings! Jollywood Nights Tickets will go on sale for guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green on July 16th. All other guests will be able to purchase tickets beginning July 22nd. Let’s take a look at the entertainment that has been confirmed for this year’s event! Entertainment There is no shortage of entertainment during Jollywood Nights, that’s for sure! Disney has confirmed that quite a bit of the entertainment will be returning to this year’s event. “Glisten!” will be making its return! This ice-skating show, located in front of the Chinese Theater, features world-class skaters performing to holiday music. The skaters are incredibly talented, twirling and skating their way around the rink with projections on the Chinese Theater. Glisten! “Disney Holidays in Hollywood,” starring Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy at the Theater of the Stars, will return. This show features lots of beloved Disney characters, including Belle, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Tiana. You will enjoy singing, dancing, lots of antics, and a live band. Disney Holidays in Hollywood “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along” will also be returning this year. You can catch this show at the Hyperion Theater, where you’ll join Jack Skellington for a “dreamlike adventure inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” If you have ever wanted to sing along to The Nightmare Before Christmas, this is your chance! “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along” If you are looking for a glamorous experience at Jollywood Nights, make sure you head over to the Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club. The Hollywood Tower Hotel’s courtyard is transformed into a 1930s-style jazz lounge where you can enjoy live music and cocktails. Tip Top Club We have seen the Holiday Fiesta en la Calle in previous years, but this year it is moving over to the Coaster Courtyard on Sunset Boulevard. This event is a Latin-inspired street fair with Latin holiday music, food, and drink inspired by Latin holiday flavors, and the chance to meet José Carioca, Panchito, and Miguel. Miguel is a NEW addition to this year’s event! José and Panchito Jazzy Holidays at The Hollywood Brown Derby is also back! This is an exclusive “party within a party” that takes place at The Hollywood Brown Derby. It is a limited-capacity event, so we highly recommend making reservations if you are hoping to attend. Inside, you will find holiday music and old Hollywood vibes, plus craft cocktails and snacks available for purchase. Peppermint Schnapps Sipping Chocolate at Jazzy Holidays Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! will also be returning to the event. This nighttime spectacular features fireworks, lasers, projections, and holiday music. You can catch the show at 10 PM on party nights, and it lasts about 14 minutes. It is a great way to celebrate the night with a BANG! Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! There will also be LOTS of character meet-and-greets at the party; let’s take a look at the characters Disney has confirmed. Character Meet & Greets Jollywood Nights will have MORE than 20 classic and rarely seen characters throughout Hollywood Studios. 21. Your pups are in for a literal treat! Starbucks at Disney Springs We’re usually on the lookout for tasty treats for ourselves, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t spoiling our lovable canine pals! Most people know about the famous Puppaccinos at Starbucks, but did you know there are actually TONS of restaurants that do something similar? Puppaccinos are a FREE small espresso cup of plain whipped cream that you can get at Starbucks. While this might be the most popular version of this treat, as it turns out, there are at least 18 other restaurant chains that do something similar! Starbucks in Disney Springs We’ve put together a list of some notable chains that offer something similar to the Puppaccino, and they are as follows: Baskin-Robbins: Pup Cup (Complimentary small soft-serve) Braum’s: Pup Cup ($1 small cup of ice cream, typically vanilla soft serve, topped with a dog treat) Bruster’s Ice Cream: Pup Cup (Free doggie sundae) Caribou Coffee: Pup Cup (Free 4 oz) Chick‑fil‑A: Pup Cup (Whipped cream or IceDream in a small portion. Availability varies) Cold Stone Creamery: Pup Cup (Complimentary small portion of sweet cream ice cream or whipped cream served with a dog biscuit) Culver’s: Pup Cup (Vanilla soft‑serve or whipped‑cream cup topped with a milk bone. Price varies) Dairy Queen: Pup Cup (Small vanilla soft‑serve topped with a biscuit. Price varies) Dunkin’: Pup Cup (4 to 5 oz cup of whipped cream, often free or charity‑donation‑supported) Dutch Bros: Pup Cup (Free whipped cream made of nonfat milk and cream in a doggy cup, and sometimes topped with a biscuit) McDonald’s: Pup Cup (Off‑menu small cup of whipped cream or soft serve) Rita’s Italian Ice: Pup Cup (Vanilla custard and dog biscuit) Salt & Straw: Pup Cups (“Smooth coconut ice cream envelopes bits of crisp apples and carrots, with sweet potato ribbons swirling throughout. The ultimate ‘treat’. Available in 12-pack for nationwide shipping.”) Shake Shack: Poochi-ini (Vanilla custard with peanut‑butter sauce and dog biscuits. Price varies) Sonic: Wag Cup (Whipped cream or soft serve in a small cup that’s often free with purchase) Tim Hortons: Timbits Pup Cup (Free and served with a bite-sized donut) Wendy’s: Pup Cup (Kid-sized Frosty for dogs) Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt: Pup Cup (A small cup of frozen yogurt or whipped cream. Some locations offer a froyo-filled dog treat) Salt & Straw It’s worth noting that these restaurants don’t all offer Pup Cups at every location. We definitely recommend calling your local store in advance before making the trek, only to find that your spot does not offer them. It’s also important to note that not all Pup Cups are free, and some might have pricing changes that aren’t reflected in this list. Again, it never hurts to call ahead of time. ©Dunkin’ Donuts These are just some of the restaurants that offer some form of a Pup Cup! 23. A brand-new attraction is opening in Disneyland, and ever since it was announced, we’ve been eagerly waiting to sit in the theater and watch this show. Disneyland Walt Disney — A Magical Life is opening on July 17th and will rotate with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, located right on Main Street. If you want to catch the show, you need to know this important detail before you scan into Disneyland. The new attraction will utilize a virtual queue system to manage guest flow. ©Disney The first drop will be at 7 AM, and guests will need to have a park reservation for Disneyland. For the second drop at 12 PM, guests will need to be in Disneyland or Disney California Adventure to get a virtual queue spot. “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” ©Disney What is this new show? Walt Disney — A Magical Life will feature the very first Walt Disney animatronic, where you’ll learn more about Walt inside his office. The opening date for this attraction has been pushed back to July 17th, and it’s almost time! “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” Disneyland is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary and has been welcoming new snacks, merchandise, and ride updates. Adding this Walt Disney attraction feels like a full-circle moment for Disneyland, bringing it back to its beginning. Sleeping Beauty Castle We’re going to be keeping an eye on this to see how easy it is to get a virtual queue as well as how long this system will be in place. Sometimes virtual queues are only there for the first bit of opening, and some are for years to come. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more! 24. Universal Orlando has starting selling Frequent Fear Passes and other multinight tickets for Halloween Horror Nights and has revealed the theming for its eighth haunted house of the 2025 season. The event’s Fear passes — aka Rush of Fear, Frequent Fear Frequent Fear Plus and Ultimate Frequent Fear — are tiered, allowing different levels of access on multiple nights of the event, which runs for 48 nights between Aug. 29 and Nov. 2 at Universal Studios theme park. Prices of the passes start at $199. Note: By midday Thursday, the allottments of Frequent Fear Plus Pass with express pass and Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass with express were sold out, according to Universal’s website. The park also identified another haunted house for the fright fest. It will be based on the “Terrifier” series of slasher films, directed and written by Damien Leone. The HHN maze will focust on the series’ Art the Clown, who tortures residents of (fictional) Miles County, New York, in gruesome ways. It will include Art’s Funhouse from “Terrifier 2,” the Clown Cafe and “grotesque kills, gellfully displayed for all to see,” according to a Universal news release. “Terrifier 3” was released last year, and “Terrifier 4” is slated for 2026. David Howard Thornton has played Art the Clown. The “Terrifier” house, which will also be part of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, is one of 10 planned for the Orlando event. Previously identified mazes include Galkn: Monsters of the North (“wolfish fiends,” fjords); Grave of the Flesh (flesh-eaters); Dolls: Let’s Play Dead (created by a twisted girl); Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters (spawn of past mazed named Sinister Sinema 2); El Artista: A Spanish Haunting (possessed paintings); Fallout (inspired by a videogame and Prime streaming series); and Jason Universe, tied to “Friday the 13th” characters. Universal officials also have said “Five Nights at Freddy’s” will be part of 2025 Horror Nights, but a house has not yet been announced for that film. 25. Another installment in one of Disney Channel’s most successful film franchises is about to be released, and we can’t wait! ©Disney In 2018, Disney released the first Zombies film on Disney Channel, and it was almost an immediate hit. The story follows students from Seabrook High School who are thrown for a loop when students from Zombietown transfer in, and they all must work together to prove they can embrace their differences and thrive. Since then, two more films have come out in the series, and a fourth one releases on Disney Channel TODAY, but when will it hit Disney+? We have the answer! Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires releases today, July 10th, on Disney Channel, but if you don’t have cable, it can be hard to watch. Not to worry, it’ll be coming to Disney+ sooner than you realize. ©Disney That’s right! Zombies 4 will be available the NEXT DAY for streaming on Disney+, which means that it’ll be available as soon as July 11th. This is great news for many fans of the franchise, as parents don’t need to wait long to be able to turn it on and create a fun movie night where you can pause the film whenever you need to. ©IMDb The official logline for Zombies 4 is, “Zed and Addison embark on a road trip the summer after their first year of college, during which they unexpectedly discover the warring worlds of Sunnyside and Shadyside and come into contact with two new groups of monsters.” It’s not often we get Disney Channel original films with college-aged characters, so consider us intrigued! ©IMDb We’ve gotten to see some costumes from the film over at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is where you can often find sneak peeks at upcoming films, so if you’re a movie buff like we are, don’t skip out when you visit!
