EPCOT’s France Pavilion is known for having some pretty darn good eats. France Pavilion Chefs de France and Monsieur Paul bring in that fancy table service experience, while La Crêperie de Paris offers a more casual French dining atmosphere. But what really shines here is the list of snacks! So we’ve rounded up some of the treats you can ONLY order in the France Pavilion in Disney World. Croque Glace We’re starting things out over at L’Artisan des Glaces, which is the France Pavilion’s hand-scooped ice cream shop. It’s a must-try for us, and one of their treats on the menu is the Croque Glace, which is ice cream pressed inside of Brioche. Inside of the Croque Glace You get your choice of ice cream flavor as well as one sauce, served inside a Brioche and pressed warm. Doesn’t that sound heavenly? We assure you that it is. Get it on your next visit for $10.95. Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich If bread and ice cream isn’t your thing, you can go for their other ice cream sandwich treat at L’Artisan, the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s exactly what it sounds like — ice cream served sandwiched between two large macarons. Giant macarons! They offer a year-round chocolate flavor, as well as another option that rotates seasonally. We really love when they roll out the pumpkin spice flavor in the fall! You can order this one for $8.95. Quiche Lorraine Heading next door to Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie, we’ve got to talk about the Quiche Lorraine. It’s made with ham, gruyere, and egg, and it’s SO simple, yet SO delicious. Quiche Lorraine It has that soft shell, fluffy egg, and delicious cheesy center that we love, and it’s the perfect portion for a little breakfast snackie. Grab it during your next visit for $7.25. Whole Baguette One of the absolute best things about the France Pavilion is that here, you can buy a WHOLE baguette for a snack. Yep, just one giant loaf of bread! A WHOLE Baguette! This is also available at Les Halles, and it’s $4.95 for a full baguette or $2.95 for half. They offer butter at the restaurant, but you could just stuff this bad boy in your bag and snack on it as you wander through the World Showcase, perfectly content. Pain Lard Fromage One of the most underrated, unique treats at Les Halles is the Pain Lard Fromage, otherwise known as the bacon and cheese roll! This bread roll is sliced down the middle and stuffed with cheese, then toasted with cheese and bacon on top. It is a DELIGHT. Pain Lard au Fromage It’s available for $8.25 and shareable enough for a snack, or a good price for a breakfast item for one person. Ratatouille Galette In the back of the France Pavilion, you’ll find Crêpes a Emporter, which is the quick service attached to La Crêperie de Paris. This spot is home to some fun flavors, but perhaps the most interesting is the Ratatouille Galette. Ratatouille Galette It’s filled with tomatoes, zucchini, and eggplant, so it’s a great choice if you’re in need of some veggies during a deep-fried food-filled vacation. Order it for $10.25. Lobster Bisque in a Bread Bowl When you’re in the mood for something warm and cozy, look no further than the Lobster Bisque at Les Halles, which you can order in a BREAD BOWL. Yep, you can enjoy the creamy, rich tomato-based soup and then eat the soft bread of the bowl it was served in once you’re done. Lobster Bisque The best part about this is that it’s only $7.95, which is cheaper than many kids’ meals around Disney World. Seriously, those Les Halles prices are the BEST. Grand Marnier Slush Over at Les Vins des Chefs de France, you’ll find the only beverage on our list — the very popular Grand Marnier Slush! It’s officially called the Le Geant Slush, and you can snag it for $21.95. Grand Marnier Orange Slush You have the option of getting it with a Grand Marnier or Grey Goose Citron Shot. Its fans praise it for being a refreshing way to drink your way “around the world” during those hot summer months. During EPCOT Festivals And finally, what about during EPCOT festivals? Well, good news — France is often known to have some really stellar eats during the festivals! We’ve had everything from duck confit to escargots to cheesy bread dishes here during festivals. 2025 France Full Spread at Flower & Garden So if you’re planning to eat around the park during a festival, don’t skip out on France! Boeuf Bourguignon, Pommes de terre roties The France Pavilion is a MUST-visit spot when you’re strolling through EPCOT…their eats are tres magnifique! Real Disney Adults know that the ultimate Disney World souvenir is a popcorn bucket. These are prized possessions that some people will wait HOURS in line for. Some people don’t even eat the popcorn! Popcorn Cart This year has been an excellent one for popcorn bucket collectors, and we’re sharing five of the most popular ones we’ve seen. After seeing these, you might just want to book a plane ticket to Disney right now. To fill it with popcorn, you’ll have to open the back of Mickey’s head, which is strange, but hey, where else would it go? You place the popcorn in the back of his head Prince Charming Carousel This bucket is just perfect for the Magic Kingdom lovers! It looks like Prince Charming Regal Carousel, and we love the bright colors on it. Stunning! The horses move around, and it plays “A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes,” and if that doesn’t make us want to cry, we don’t know what does. The Sword in the Stone! The whole pointed top opens up, and your popcorn is in the circular part of the carousel. Prince Charming Carousel Popcorn Bucket Spaceship Earth Mickey Balloon EPCOT fans are pretty hardcore about their souvenirs, and we don’t blame them. This bucket feels like it perfectly encapsulates EPCOT. Spaceship Earth Popcorn Bucket It resembles Spaceship Earth and features different lighting options, just like the real one. EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth Mickey Balloon Light-Up Popcorn Bucket There’s a hatch that flips open on the back where you can store your popcorn. Popcorn! Do you collect popcorn buckets? It’s not uncommon for Disney World hotels to get some work done! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort A little nip here, a tuck there, an entire resort-wide hotel room makeover…sometimes it’s casual and sometimes it’s major. Currently, one of the resorts that’s getting a big overhaul is the Grand Floridian. The lobby here is getting some big changes, and we’re here to share the progress! Disney World announced a while back that the lobby at the Grand Floridian Resort would be getting a refurbishment. For many months, we wondered about this project and if it had been forgotten altogether. But then, in April 2025, Disney dropped the concept art for the makeover. ©Disney The concept art includes an update to the lobby furniture, carpet, and layout, but the main addition to note is the Lobby Bar. The space will feature “hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.” ©Disney Within a few days of releasing the concept art, Disney began working on the refurbishment. They started by putting up construction walls around the space where the bar will be located. Even though the construction is underway, it isn’t set to be complete until November 2025. The first construction walls But since that visit, many things have changed. The iconic birdcage has been removed, and the flooring updates have begun with the area around the cage. What things look like now. There’s still a decent amount of seating available in the lobby, but things are feeling a little bit cramped. The seating areas have been moved closer together since the construction walls are taking up nearly half of the main floor. Lobby changes Outside of the main space, there are walls around the check-in area. If you’re checking into the resort, you’ll find the Cast Members near the front entrance, along with concierge services. It means that people are tending to gather near the entrance, so the lobby feels crowded overall at the moment. Walls in the front Bell Services has moved to a podium by the elevators, so those needing to store their luggage will find them over here. You may have to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt around the lobby to find the service you need, but any Cast Member who you ask should be able to point you in the right direction. The view from the ground Ultimately, it’s fairly busy here right now, so if you’re a Grand Floridian fan due to the vibes of the lobby and the main building, you may want to stay elsewhere for your trip. However, if you’re not one to spend much time in the lobby on vacation, then this may not be a problem for you! Construction We’ll keep you updated as more changes hit this resort. Happy Holidays…okay, just kidding…well kinda. Disney just dropped a ton of new details about the holiday season in Disney World, so we’ve already got “snope” on the brain (that’s snow + snoap for all you non-Floridians who get to see REAL snow). 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party We just learned more about what to expect at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom this year. Now, something is going to be a little different about this year’s party, so we’re going to break down the one rule you’ll need to follow if you plan on getting a ticket to this event. So the big thing that’s changing with this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is this: Disney Starlight. Now, the new nighttime parade will run during the holiday season, but NOT on nights there’s a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Instead, the party will host the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, which is also a nighttime parade. But there’s a BIG difference that could confuse you about these two parades. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade Disney Starlight will be changing its parade route. Disney Starlight’s route will start on Main Street, U.S.A., and work backwards (at least backwards to what we’re used to) to Frontierland. However, Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade will run along the traditional route, starting in Frontierland and working towards Main Street, U.S.A. With both being nighttime parades, we can see where that might cause some confusion. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas Time parade You’ll want to remember these differences so you can make sure you know where to go, especially if you’re late in finding a spot for the Christmas Party parade after it’s already started and want to watch it from the beginning. As the parade progresses, if you’re still looking for a viewing spot, make sure you move towards Main Street, U.S.A., and not Frontierland, where the parade has already passed. Of course, if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom on a non-party night, you’ll do the opposite for Disney Starlight. Yep, confusing! Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade Tickets are on sale for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade, so you’ll want to grab those while they’re still available if that’s in your Disney World holiday plans. And as always, stay tuned to DFB for more. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! One of the best parts of visiting Disney World is meeting the characters and getting a chance to interact with them. Mexico Pavilion That is especially true when the character is one of the Fab Five, a.k.a. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, or Pluto. Well, for a while, one of those characters has been missing from his usual meet-and-greet spot in EPCOT. Now, though, we are happy to report that Disney’s #1 duck has returned to the Mexico Pavilion with his poncho and sombrero and is meeting people there again! If you’ve visited EPCOT recently, you might have noticed that Donald’s meet-and-greet, which generally happens at the Mexico Pavilion, was moved to the Imagination Pavilion due to construction being done at the Mexico Pavilion. There, he met with guests in his traditional outfit. However, Donald is BACK where he belongs in Mexico! He’s BACK! Yes, that’s right, y’all. Donald Duck is BACK at the Mexico Pavilion in his sombrero and poncho. He’s meeting with visitors and reminding EVERYONE that he is #1! He’s #1 The meet and greet area also looked really good…Donald’s got spiffy digs in EPCOT again. Welcome back, Donald! Showing off his space If you want to meet Donald in EPCOT, you’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app for times. He’s available to meet throughout most of the day, so if you miss him, just wait a little bit longer and he’ll turn back up. He has to head indoors to cool off his tail feathers occasionally after spending time in the Florida heat and humidity. ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more. Every summer brings a fresh crop of bad tourist behavior — from folks carving their initials into ancient ruins to people who treat airplane cabins like their living room floor (you know who you are). But this summer, one tourist has truly outdone themselves. Neuschwanstein Castle, as depicted in a postcard circa 1900 According to The Independent, a visitor to Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle — the gorgeous building that inspired Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle — decided that the perfect place to stash her dog while touring the grounds was… wait for it… inside a locker. Yes. A locker. Let’s pause for a moment to appreciate the sheer audacity of this move. While most of us worry about whether it’s okay to leave our dog at home for a few hours, this traveler apparently looked at a storage locker — meant for backpacks and umbrellas — and thought, “Yeah, this’ll work for my medium-sized dog.” The dog, described as a mixed-breed and around 60 centimeters (that’s roughly 24 inches) tall at the shoulder, was discovered and security was alerted. Thankfully, castle employees acted quickly and freed the dog, while it was still alive and well. Probably confused, maybe a little indignant, but physically OK. Police were called, and the tourist may face charges related to animal cruelty. Because — and this really shouldn’t have to be said — dogs are not luggage. Thomas Wolf, www.foto-tw.de | Neuschwanstein Castle Now, we’re not here to personally drag anyone. Maybe it was a moment of panic. But let’s be real. There’s poor decision-making, and then there’s “I locked my dog in a castle locker” decision-making. May your next trip come with better planning and a proper dog-sitter. Something HUGE is happening in EPCOT right now. EPCOT Test Track has been closed for over a year, but it’s getting ready to reopen with a new theme on July 22nd. Now, we already got a preview of the ride (and Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak residents, and Club 33 Members have been checking it out, too). However, some OTHER lucky Disney World visitors have been offered the RARE chance to ride the new Test Track before it opens! And by lucky…we mean SUPER lucky…as in maybe they need to go buy lottery tickets later. We recently got word from a Cast Member that Test Track opened briefly last night (July 11th) and allowed EPCOT visitors to ride it. This wasn’t a scheduled ride opening, so, basically, those who were walking by Test Track at the time were lucky enough to get to ride it. We love a soft opening — you never know when you might get lucky! Test Track Well, that happened again today, July 12th! We were visiting the Test Track area throughout the day, and the ride opened to visitors (but…not when we were there). It was open for about 20 minutes before lightning was detected in the area. And if you know what that means (it means outdoor rides are closed), it means that the ride had to close because part of it is outdoors. That might be a new record for the shortest soft opening EVER. Test Track So if you just happened to be in the right place at the right time yesterday or today, you might have been among the very few to get to ride Test Track before its official opening date. We did the math, and there was a 2.8 percent chance of riding it today, which is LOW, so if you were one of the lucky ones, CONGRATULATIONS. Test Track In the meantime (during the bad weather), Disney Vacation Club members are allowed inside the attraction to enjoy the queue for their early previews. We spoke with a Cast Member who told us that the queue is now open for DVC previews, but that it’s unlikely the ride will be open for anyone else today because of the backup that happened due to the closure. In the meantime, Test Track will officially open on July 22nd, so if you missed these “windows of luck” (that’s what we’re calling it now), you can ride it on or after that date. When you’re in EPCOT, you are going to want to try out as many snacks as you can. Trust us here. This park is known for having some pretty spectacular options, and you can’t settle for just one. And whatever you do — don’t waste your time with a basic Mickey pretzel. BETTER OPTIONS EXIST! Spaceship Earth in EPCOT We just got word that a new snack landed in Sunshine Seasons, and it sounds INCREDIBLE. We knew we had to give it a try, and let’s just say, we weren’t disappointed! Wanna see? DUH! Let’s go! Right now, you can try the new Mickey-shaped Pistachio Macaron for $5.79 at Sunshine Seasons. It’s pistachio-flavored through and through, and it might be the most fresh-tasting macaron we’ve ever had! *cover your ears, France Pavilion!* The outside of the macaron was light, sweet, and so fragile, just how it’s supposed to be. The slightest wrong touch will make it crack, so be careful if you’re trying to snap the perfect photo. Mickey-shaped Pistachio Macaron The pistachio flavor isn’t too overpowering here, so we think kids will really love this one! We also think the price is pretty good considering the size — this is a nice, big macaron! Since the pistachio flavor is so light, we don’t think you have to necessarily love the flavor to enjoy it, but you do need to enjoy sweet treats. (That’s easy for us!) It’s a pretty big treat! If you’re in the park and passing by (maybe on your way to ride Soarin’), we say this snack is worth a try if you’re looking for a sweet treat. Don’t forget that Sunshine Seasons is located indoors with plenty of seating and air conditioning, so it’s a great way to cool off as well. The inside Want to see more recent EPCOT news? Big changes are happening over at Disney World’s hotels. Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel We just said goodbye to not one, but two iconic Disney World restaurant staples. Shula’s Steak House at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel and Jellyrolls on Disney’s BoardWalk have both officially closed their doors — and if you’ve ever spent time at either one, you know how big of a deal this is. Here’s what we know about these permanent closures, and what’s coming next. Shula’s Steak House Has Closed If you’ve ever stayed at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and wanted a top-tier steakhouse experience away from the chaos of the parks, there’s a solid chance Shula’s was your go-to. This spot has been serving up dark wood, white tablecloths, and high-end cuts of beef since 1995. Named after NFL legend Don Shula, this place built its reputation on generous portions, rich flavor, and a price tag to match. But after nearly 30 years in business, it’s officially closed. (The last day for reservations was June 14th, 2025.) It’s officially closed Now, if you’re already wondering what’s replacing it — don’t worry, Disney isn’t leaving that space empty for long. A brand new restaurant is on its way: Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina. And yes, it’s just as fancy as it sounds. ©Walt Disney World Dolphin Michael Mina is a James Beard Award-winning chef and the founder of MINA Group, which runs over 40 restaurants around the world. So we’re expecting something big here. Bourbon Steak is set to bring elevated American cuisine with that sleek, upscale vibe — and let’s be real, your wallet is probably already bracing for impact. ©Bourbon Steak According to OpenTable listings, Bourbon Steak might open as early as July 26th, 2025, though that hasn’t been confirmed as the official debut just yet. The restaurant is expected to open sometime mid-summer. ©Walt Disney World Dolphin Sean Verney, Area General Manager for the Swan and Dolphin, called the addition of Chef Mina a step forward in the resort’s food and beverage program. And based on Mina’s track record, it’s safe to say the bar is being raised. We’ll definitely be checking it out once it opens, so stay tuned for a full review when it does. But still…we’ll miss Shula’s. Jellyrolls Says Goodbye to the BoardWalk This one hits hard. Jellyrolls officially closed on April 19th, 2025, after 30 years of live music, crowd sing-alongs, and strong drinks on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls If you never made it over to Jellyrolls, it wasn’t your average Disney bar. This place had energy. The dueling pianos, the wild crowd requests, the nightly drink specials — it was pure chaos in the best way. It was also one of the few spots at Disney where adults could let loose without feeling like they were crashing a kids’ party. Jellyrolls And yes, we know it wasn’t technically run by Disney, but it still felt like part of the soul of the BoardWalk. The good news? Jellyrolls isn’t totally gone. According to the team behind the bar, they’re “making a move” and plan to reopen elsewhere — though we don’t have any concrete details yet about the new location. What we do know is that the BoardWalk won’t be the same without it. The glowing drinks, the baby grand pianos, the $22 cover (half-price for Cast Members!) — it was all part of the experience. Jellyrolls Jellyrolls was one of those rare spots where you could walk in not knowing a single person, and somehow still end up belting out “Bohemian Rhapsody” with 50 strangers by midnight. It’s been a staple for birthdays, bachelorette parties, Cast Member hangouts, and spontaneous Disney date nights for three decades. We’ll definitely be keeping tabs on where it goes next, and you can count on us to report back the moment we find out. Jellyrolls So yeah, Disney hotel dining just went through some serious changes. One fine-dining staple has officially passed the baton to a new heavyweight, and one beloved bar has taken its final bow — at least in its original form. We’ll be keeping a close eye on both Bourbon Steak’s opening and any updates on the new Jellyrolls location. Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa — located in Ko Olina, Oahu, Hawai’i — is a Disney Vacation Club property with a TON of activities, restaurants, entertainment, recreation, character interactions, and more. Off the Hook at Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa We’ve been spending some time at this resort and while there’s plenty to do, we’re most excited about the FOOD! We are Disney FOOD Blog, after all. So, come with us to check out breakfast and lunch from Off the Hook at Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa! Atmosphere You’ll find Off the Hook located in the Waikolohe Valley pool area, near the entrance to the beach. It’s also adjacent to ‘AMA‘AMA – Contemporary Island Cooking. Off the Hook Off the Hook is designed to resemble a Hawaiian fisherman’s seaside shack, with cowry-shell lures, shark-tooth knives, fishhooks and fish-shaped ku‘ulo stones once used as decoys. You’ll even see a colorful school of fish “swimming” above the bar! Ordering counter Relax and enjoy food and drinks in the covered lounge while watching sports on flat-screen TVs—or create a mobile order on the Aulani app and take your items to go. Inside seating Let’s find out what’s on the menu! Menu We stopped by to grab a coffee for breakfast and took a look at the rest of the menu while we were at it! In addition to coffee and specialty beverages, you’ll also find food like sweet bread french toast, Mickey waffles, avocado toast, and more. Breakfast menu For lunch and dinner, you can order appetizers like chicken wings, ahi tuna poke, flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, pasta, entrees, and desserts. You’ll also find plenty of cocktails, beer, and wine on the menu. Lunch menu Let’s find out what we’re having this time around! Eats To kick things off, we started our lunch with the Butcher’s Favorite Burger for $24. This burger is served with butter lettuce, tomato, red onion, and dill pickle on a brioche bun. It sounds like a pretty standard burger, so how did it taste? Butcher’s Favorite Burger This burger was excellent! It was cooked to order and the toppings went so well together. The red onion added nice acidic zing, while the butter lettuce was soft and crisp at the same time. The tomato was fresh and juicy — everything just tasted super fresh and the burger was well cooked and super filling. Something that always levels up a burger for us is a brioche bun and this one was great. We also really loved the french fries here. They were super thick, super hot, and perfectly salted. Burger We also ordered one of the pastas on the menu — the Chicken Bucatini for $29. It’s made with grilled chicken, asparagus, cremini mushrooms, roasted peppers, basil cream sauce, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. It’s also served with a piece of grilled bread on the side — because all good carbs need a side of more carbs, you know? Chicken Bucatini The Chicken Bucatini was one of our favorite things we had in all of Aulani on this trip. You might not think of Italian food here, but this pasta was SO delicious. The basil cream sauce was like a creamy pesto, and if you like mushrooms you’re in luck because there were a bunch. The chicken was super tender and grilled which gave the pasta a nice taste. YUM Drinks We stopped by to grab the Breakfast of Champions one morning and grabbed the Aulani Special for $9. This specialty coffee is a mocha macadamia nut latte, and it’s just as delicious as it sounds. It was super sweet and definitely gave us dessert coffee vibes with the whipped cream on top. We couldn’t really taste the coffee, so this is probably going to be the special coffee option for those who like sweet drinks. Off the Hook is also the only place to get specialty coffees before 10 AM, so if you want a specialty like coffee, you want to head here! Aulani Surprise Coffee At lunch, were feeling tropical and grabbed a Piña Colada for $16. This one was made with Don Q Rum, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice. The Piña Colada was great, but pretty standard. They use SUCH a great blend here throughout the resort. The drinks are pineapple-y, coconutty, and perfectly creamy. Piña Colada We also picked up the Cucumber Lychee Fizz for $16 as well. This cocktail is made with Effen Cucumber Vodka, lychee, and fresh lemon juice topped with ginger ale. If we had to describe this drink with three words, they’d be tasty, refreshing, and cool. It was one of those super light, super drinkable drinks. Cucumber Lychee Fizz We could definitely taste the lychee, but this was a little bit too on the sweet side. We wish we could have tasted more of the alcohol — that would have balanced this out a bit more, but it was definitely something we’d get again. Nosh or Not You should make a stop at Off the Hook if… You’re looking for a quick bite to eat that’s also delicious. You want some variety with what’s on the menu. You want to dine somewhere with great views. You should skip Off the Hook if… You’re looking for a table-service restaurant that’s a bit more upscale. You want to dine at an indoor restaurant. Overall Our visits to Off the Hook at Aulani were both excellent, and we would definitely come back to eat here time and time again. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee or bite to eat at breakfast or are after something more substantial for lunch or dinner, chances are you’ll find it at Off the Hook! Off the Hook We’ll be bringing you a whole lot more coverage from our trip to Aulani, so make sure you keep an eye out! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest Disney news and more. We are getting closer to the start of the Halloween season in Orlando! Disney World kicks off its Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 15th, and Universal Orlando isn’t far behind them with the start of Halloween Horror Nights on August 29th. Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights Keep in mind that these two events are VERY different from each other. Disney World’s Halloween Party is family friendly and NOT scary. On the other hand, Halloween Horror Nights is heavy on the horror and not recommended for children under 13 years old. Let’s take a look at the rules that are enforced at Halloween Horror Nights! If you are planning on heading to Halloween Horror Nights this year, make sure you know about these rules that Universal Orlando will be enforcing! Event Occurs Rain or Shine While the haunted houses are indoors, much of this event will require you to be outside. Queue lines for the haunted houses are all outside, as well as the scare zones and food booths. Universal does not offer any rain checks, returns, or refunds. The good news is that as long as you come prepared for rain, you can still have a great night at Halloween Horror Nights. And often, the rain clears out some of the guests so you might even be able to enjoy shorter wait times! Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights The scare actors in the scare zones will seek shelter if there is lightning in the area, but as long as you are okay with standing in the rain/lightning, the haunted houses can usually operate as normal during stormy conditions. Parking Is Only Free After Midnight You might know that usually parking at the garages is usually free after 6 PM. However, it is important to note that during Halloween Horror Nights, parking is ONLY free after midnight. Universal Orlando Resort You will either want to budget for parking costs or plan on getting to the park much later. However, if you wait for free parking, you will be missing much of the evening. No Costumes or Costume Masks You may really be feeling the horror spirit but leave the costumes at home. Unfortunately, no costumes or costume masks are allowed during Halloween Horror Nights. There is ONE exception to the rule though. If you are dying to wear your favorite costume, you can wear one to the Premium Scream Night on August 28th. Torture Faire Scare Zone That is the only night that costumes are allowed though, and there are still some restrictions to those costumes. If you are attending the Premium Scream Night and want to wear a costume, make sure you check out Universal’s full rules. Smoking Is Prohibited This isn’t just a Halloween Horror Nights rule as smoking is also prohibited during normal operating hours, except for designated locations. Universal recently updated where their designated smoking locations are, and there is only one option for a smoking area at Universal Studios Florida. Halloween Horror Nights House The designated smoking area is located near the park exit, and it is the only location in the park you are allowed to smoke. This also includes vaping. If you are a smoker or a vaper, make sure you know where the designated area is and plan for breaks in your night’s activities. Prohibited Items When you are packing your bags to head to Halloween Horror Nights, there are a few items you will want to make sure stay at home. This list is not completely exhaustive, though, and Universal personnel cannot allow other items that they deem “inappropriate, disruptive or harmful.” HHN 2024 Tribute Store The following items are prohibited at Halloween Horror Nights: explosives, weapons, items that can be used as or has the appearance of a weapon, alcohol or drinks containing alcohol, marijuana or any item containing cannabis or related paraphernalia, illegal items, power driven or radio frequency-controlled devices (unless used as a mobility device), outside food or beverages (except items include bottled water (2 liters per guest max), any food required for medical purposes, medically indicated nutritional supplements, or for special dietary needs, and baby food/baby formula), coolers (only soft-sided cooler smaller than 8.5″ wide x 6″ high x 6″ deep are permitted), glass, suitcases/Bags with wheels, and folding chairs. Proper Attire Must Be Worn In order to enter the park and Halloween Horror Nights, you must make sure you are wearing proper attire. Universal requires you to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Your clothing also can’t contain anything that is likely to incite a disturbance or that displays offensive language or content. Scare Zone at Halloween Horror Nights As well, your clothing can’t represent you as emergency personnel, make you look like you are a Universal employee, or be inappropriate for a family environment. You will not be allowed to wear costume masks, veils, or long trains. Additionally, no swords or weaponry will be allowed. Some Activities Are Not Permitted Universal also wants to make sure everyone feels safe and secure, and that they provide a pleasant environment for visitors. There are numerous activities such as picketing, line jumping, disorderly conduct, physically or verbally threatening or harassing anyone, wearing improper attire, smoking outside of designated area, possession of any weapon, and not securing selfies sticks on attractions. Universal wants everyone to have a great time, so there are certain activities that they don’t allow at their parks. Halloween Horror Nights 2024 Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event at Universal Studios Florida. It happens on select nights from August 29th until November 2nd. The event features 10 highly themed haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and exclusive snacks and drinks. This event is intense, but it’s perfect for horror lovers or those looking for some scares this Halloween season. Tickets are on sale right now for the event! Welcome to summer in Disney World, when you’re probably going to be craving a nice, cold treat. Sure, there’s always DOLE Whip, but sometimes you just want ice cream. S’mores Shake Now, if you’re visiting the EPCOT area resorts, you’ll find Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Beaches and Cream has a table service restaurant where you can order savory food AND ice cream treats, but it also has a to-go window if you want a cold treat without the hassle of a sit-down dining reservation. Well, something has changed at the Beaches and Cream To-Go Window. If you’re looking for a sweet treat and don’t have a reservation for Beaches & Cream, you can still get ice cream treats from the restaurant at the To-Go menu. Beaches and Cream To-Go Window However, we just visited the location and noticed that something is now missing from the menu. If you want to order a sundae to go, you’re now out of luck. All that’s available on the menu starting NOW is floats, shakes, cups, cones, and ice cream sandwiches. New menu So the only way to get a Beaches and Cream sundae right now is by grabbing a reservation at the table service restaurant. HOWEVER, you do have another option: you can always get a sundae at BoardWalk Ice Cream, just over by The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers. BONUS: You can order the Thundering Surf Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sundae, which is a good dupe for Beaches and Cream’s No Way Jose (a fave of ours). BoardWalk Ice Cream’s Thundering Surf Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sundae So if you’re craving something more than a float or shake, you’ll have to get it somewhere besides the Beaches and Cream To-Go Window. This is a popular place to eat! Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! There is a lot happening at Disney World right now, and we don’t want you to be caught off guard by closures! There are numerous attractions and restaurants closed right now, and we want to make sure you know about every single one of them. EPCOT Lots of changes are happening, including construction on three new areas: Piston Peak National Park in Magic Kingdom, Monsters, Inc. Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Pueblo Esperanza in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But there are even more closures in addition to closures for those expansions. Let’s round them up, so you know what will be closed if you are in Disney World this week. Let’s take a look at what attractions and locations will be closed this week, July 12th through July 19th, at Disney World! Magic Kingdom Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island is closed for good to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak National Park. There are some construction walls up in the area now and we have seen workers on Tom Sawyer Island. Walls Up by Liberty Square Riverboat Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of Magic Kingdom, and construction is expected to begin in the area this year. Disney has not yet released an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know that it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue closed for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground is closed, the ride is still open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen later in 2025. Originally, it was expected to open in spring 2025, but the opening date has been pushed back. NEW Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Pirates Lounge in Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! We recently spotted some ride testing happening, which was very exciting, and a train car has arrived! It was still covered in a tarp, but it was exciting to see. Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we saw it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! Okay, so there’s a LOT of construction going on in Disney World right now. Magic Kingdom is getting an expansion and a new Villains land. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a new land. Even Disney’s Animal Kingdom is…getting a new land. Sensing a trend yet? Tree of Life One new land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be known as Pueblo Esperanza and will be inspired by the Tropical Americas. Parts of DinoLand, U.S.A. have already closed to start construction on this new area, but we recently spotted permits that indicate even more locations in DinoLand, U.S.A. that will see construction starting soon. It’s really happening, y’all! Disney just filed FOUR permits…yep, FOUR, for general construction in areas of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. These areas cover The Boneyard, which we recently discovered would close on September 2nd. The Boneyard is a kids’ play area and will be converted into a new play area that is inspired by the atmosphere of Pueblo Esperanza. The Boneyard! The construction permits also include the area that was once TriceraTop Spin. That ride was demolished in February and has been empty ever since. However, it seems like something new will be going in its place. Triceratop Spin before it was fully demolished Another permit seems to cover an area near Dino-Bite Snacks, which is still open. This seems to be the location for the Wilderness Explorer kiosk in DinoLand, U.S.A. The location is currently open, so we’re not sure what plans Disney has for this space. Perhaps the idea is to keep it, but design the kiosk to better fit into the new land. Guess we’ll see… Wilderness Explorer kiosk in Animal Kingdom Finally, it looks like Trilo-Bites, which is also currently open, is about to get some construction. Will it remain a dining spot? Who knows? (Fingers crossed, though — we’ve found some fun menu items at this spot!) Trilo-Bites Disney has not announced closing dates for these three locations, but if they are under construction soon, it looks like they could potentially close soon. We’ll keep an eye out and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? If you’re staying at a Universal Orlando hotel, you get Early Park Admission at all Universal theme parks! Gate at Epic Universe This is a fantastic perk to use on vacation, especially if you’re trying to ride everything in a park in one day, and still want some time to see shows, eat your favorite snacks, and rest when you need to. Over in Epic Universe, the newest park, there are a few rides included in Early Park Admission, but we have news to share — one popular ride is NO longer included in Early Park Admission. We check the wait times for Epic Universe daily to track ride performance and identify wait time trends. However, in doing so, we’ve noticed something interesting. Universal doesn’t update its wait times as frequently as Disney, so sometimes in the morning, it looks like certain rides aren’t open for Early Park Admission when they really are. The lesson? Don’t trust the wait times on the Universal app first thing in the morning! Epic Universe Additionally, we noticed a new trend you need to know about. As of June, Mine Cart Madness is no longer included as part of Early Park Admission. However, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure continue to be available in this section of the park. Mine Cart Madness Now, the attractions listed to be included in Early Park Admission are: Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge Yoshi’s Adventure Stardust Racers Constellation Carousel Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment Curse of the Werewolf Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment That’s over half the rides in the park, so while we’re sad Mine Cart Madness isn’t available to ride early, there’s still plenty to explore before the crowds really start to form. We suggest focusing on Curse of the Werewolf or Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, although Super Nintendo World does often see much lower wait times later in the day. Stardust Racers, on the other hand, can see high wait times, but not quite as bad as some of the others, so we wouldn’t prioritize it. Stardust Racers Looking for more recent Epic Universe news? You’ve got your park bag packed, but your outfit might be what gets you stopped at the gate. Animal Kingdom Entrance A Disney World vacation sounds like a fashion free-for-all, but Disney actually has a pretty strict dress code—especially in 2025. While most of the rules are about keeping things family-friendly and safe, there are some specific dos and don’ts that could totally throw off your day if you’re not paying attention. We’re breaking down the actual rules Disney enforces (yes, really) along with a few “unofficial” dress code expectations that regulars swear by. Let’s make sure your outfit doesn’t turn into your first park problem. 1. Yes, You Have to Wear a Shirt (And Shoes) Seems obvious, but you’d be surprised how many guests forget this one. Disney is clear: proper attire, including shirts and shoes, must be worn at all times. That means no walking around the park in your swimsuit, and no barefoot castle selfies. Tank tops, shorts, tees, and sandals are all fine—as long as they’re appropriate. Just don’t try to test the line on “how little is too little.” No shoes, no shirt, no service Also, excessively revealing clothing (like bikini tops, mesh tops, or super short shorts) can get flagged. Even if you’re just trying to beat the Florida heat, pack an outfit that won’t make you do the walk of shame back to the hotel. 2. Graphic Tees With Bad Words? Big Nope If your shirt has offensive language or inappropriate graphics, Disney can and will ask you to change or cover it. Think of it this way: if you wouldn’t wear it to meet Mickey, maybe leave it in the suitcase. The rule applies to any visible clothing or accessories, including hats and bags—and yes, tattoos count too. If your ink is questionable, it’ll need to be covered. You’d definitely be safe meeting the boss in this shirt So maybe skip the shirt that drops questionable language in favor of something that just says “Hakuna Matata.” 3. Torn Clothing Can Be a Problem Distressed jeans are totally fine. Completely shredded pants that look like they lost a fight with Stitch? Not so much. Disney doesn’t allow excessively torn clothing, so if you’re into that post-apocalyptic fashion look, it might be best to save it for after the trip. You could rock an outfit like this Also: clothing that drags on the ground is a no-go. Long dresses, skirts, or capes that sweep the pavement can be a tripping hazard—and Disney isn’t about to let your outfit become a safety issue in the middle of Main Street. 4. Dining Dress Codes Are Real (Especially at Signature Restaurants) Most quick-service and table-service spots in the parks and resorts don’t require anything fancy. What you wear around the park will usually work fine. That said, Disney expects you to look presentable, even at casual places. If your outfit looks like it just rolled out of the laundry pile, it might be a problem. California Grill But if you’re heading to a Signature Dining restaurant, it’s time to step it up. Here are the official guidelines for Signature Dining restaurants: Men should wear khakis, slacks, or dress shorts with a collared shirt. Jeans are acceptable if they’re in good condition. Sport coats are optional but welcome. Women should wear capri pants, skirts, dresses, or dress shorts. Again, jeans are allowed as long as they’re not excessively ripped or distressed. Not permitted: tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, cut-off shorts, torn clothing, and t-shirts with offensive language or images. Here’s a list of the Signature Dining locations: Resort Hotels: California Grill (Contemporary Resort) Citricos (Grand Floridian Resort) Flying Fish (BoardWalk Inn) Il Mulino (Walt Disney World Swan Hotel) Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge) Narcoossee’s (Grand Floridian Resort) Todd English’s bluezoo (Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel) Topolino’s Terrace (Riviera Resort) Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club Resort) Come on in! Theme Parks: Signature Dining spots in the parks such as Le Cellier Steakhouse (EPCOT), Tiffins (Animal Kingdom), The Hollywood Brown Derby (Hollywood Studios), and Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella’s Royal Table (Magic Kingdom) allow guests to wear their regular park attire. These two are the only exceptions: Monsieur Paul (EPCOT) Requires Signature Dining dress code Takumi-Tei (EPCOT) Requires Signature Dining dress code Takumi-Tei Disney Springs: The BOATHOUSE Jaleo Morimoto Asia Paddlefish STK Orlando While some guests choose to go all out with business casual or cocktail attire, most simply aim for a polished, put-together look. If you show up in park gear, you may be turned away or asked to change before being seated. Victoria & Albert’s has a STRICT Dress Code And if you have a reservation at Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this restaurant has a much more formal dress code that is strictly enforced. The service is impeccible That means a dinner jacket with dress pants or slacks for men, elegant evening wear for women, and absolutely no jeans, sneakers, or casual sandals. 5. Costumes Are for Kids (Mostly) Unless you’re attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or another special ticketed event, adults (ages 14 and up) can’t wear costumes in the parks. Disney makes exceptions for certain events, but the regular dress code is clear: no full costumes, even if they’re amazing. If you show up dressed as Elsa in July, expect to be stopped at security. You could dress up to meet these cool cats Instead, consider DisneyBounding—wearing regular clothes styled to resemble a character. It’s totally allowed, and it’s a great way to show your Disney side without breaking any rules. 6. The “Unofficial” Rules That Disney Diehards Live By These aren’t written anywhere on Disney’s website, but they might as well be. No Universal merch in Magic Kingdom – Technically allowed, but if you wear a Hogwarts tee in front of Cinderella Castle, just know that Cast Members (and some guests) will give you that look. Park-shirt placement matters – Wearing a Hollywood Studios shirt to Animal Kingdom is like wearing the wrong band tee to a concert. It’s not illegal, but you’ll get judged. Ears are mandatory – Not actually required, but if you’re not rocking a pair of Minnie ears (or at least considering it), what are you doing? Matching shirts are basically a group entry pass – Bonus points if you’ve got puns. And if you show up without one while the rest of your party matches? You’re the weak link. Disney may be the Most Magical Place on Earth, but they’re not messing around when it comes to the dress code. Whether you’re planning to hit the parks in comfy sneakers or go glam for a fancy dinner, knowing the rules ahead of time saves you from having to sprint back to your room for a wardrobe change. As always, we’ll keep an eye on Disney’s policies and bring you the latest updates. Until then, make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. Protesters gathered near Disneyland Resort on Friday, July 11th. These protests may continue throughout the weekend, closing roads and potentially impacting entrances. If you’re heading to Disneyland Resort on July 12th or July 13th, here’s what you need to know so the protests do not disrupt your day in the parks. Disneyland Resort parking garage Reports indicate that Vice President JD Vance is in Anaheim, California for the weekend. Vance is expected to take a trip to Disneyland with his family, according to The Orange County Register. Visitors may need to take an alternate route to visit Disneyland Resort this weekend to avoid protests. Here’s what we suggest. On July 11th, security tents were set up at the Grand Californian Hotel and the area was tightly monitored. Disneyland officials told The Orange County Register that security personnel are working with Disneyland Resort Security “in preparation for an upcoming guest visit.” If you’re checking into the Grand Californian Resort this weekend, plan to get there early, as check-in might take a little longer due to heightened security. Security tent near Grand Californian Protesters gathered near Disneyland on Friday to speak out against Vance and the current administration. These demonstrations were spotted outside the park at an intersection near the park entrance. Protests could continue throughout the weekend, so if you’re planning a visit to the theme parks, prepare for additional security and crowds near the Disneyland entrance. Protesters For example, on July 11th, Disney Way was closed due to the protests. We recommend visitors park at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure and follow instructions from Disneyland Cast Members. The parking structure is accessible via Disneyland Drive. ©Google Maps We also recommend that visitors allow a little extra time for travel to accommodate potential road closures or alternate routes. We will keep you updated on this situation and how it may affect your upcoming trip. Follow the parking signs carefully this weekend Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news.
