  1. We’ve eaten EVERYWHERE around Disney World, and that means we know the ins and outs of the best places to stop on your next Disney World trip. While we’ve eaten some incredible meals lately at table service restaurants, you might be wondering where we’d recommend you stop to grab a bite to eat if your day at the parks doesn’t include stopping for a time-consuming meal. So naturally, we’re letting you in on our secret spot! So! Cheesy! We recently stopped by Pizza al Taglio at EPCOT to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere This counter service restaurant might look like it’s tucked away into the backside of the Italy Pavilion along EPCOT’s World Showcase, but don’t let that fool you too long! This popular pizza window is attached to Via Napoli on the left-hand side, and when it’s open, you’ll feel it as it’s known to draw a crowd. Pizza al Taglio menu While it might be attached to the Via Napoli restaurant, the pizza served here couldn’t be more different. This spot serves Sicilian-style pizza slices (the square, thick-crust type) that differ from the thin-crust pizzas you’ll find inside the neighboring restaurant. This pizza spot has become a go-to option for those on the go visiting EPCOT! So good! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here is simple but effective! That’s made loud and clear by the crowd that it continues to draw when it opens. There are a few traditional pizza options along with a few cold beverages. ©Disney Beer and wine can also be picked up to pair with your pizza… ©Disney …or you could opt for a cocktail instead. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Pepperoni Pizza for $9. This is a pepperoni pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. The Pepperoni! We loved this pizza! The crust was just thick enough while still having crispy edges. The cheese was perfectly melted and offered an amazing cheese pull. (Which, yes, that does matter.) The pepperonis were the cupping kind to add a crispy edge with a soft center. They were a bit more chewy than a flat pepperoni, but they also had greater depth of flavor. It was super greasy, but sometimes that’s what you’re looking for after a day of drinking around the world! This was also a nice, shareable slice. We’re suddenly hungry again Then we grabbed the Pizza Margherita for $8.50. This is a cheese pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. Margherita! This was great! Our teeth sank into the pizza in the best way. It reminded us of a slightly thinner personal pan pizza and a Chicago-style deep dish. It was soft but had perfectly crispy edges. The real star was that creamy cheese, which made for an amazing cheese pull. It was warm and served fresh, which was a real bonus. The sauce wasn’t overbearing and offered just the right amount of flavor without swimming in it. Need this ASAP! Finally, for something sweet, we grabbed the Tiramisú Alla “Nutella®” for $8. This is made of marscapone cream, espresso coffee, savoiardi biscuits, and Nutella. The Tiramisú This was another hit! It was creamy, and the Nutella was more like a deeper chocolate than a hazelnut spread. It was thinner than we anticipated, but it was delicious. Have a bite! It reminded us of a whipped version of coffee. (Remember when everyone was making that in 2020?) It’s like a better version of the Donkey Cart tiramisu pop that we’ve tried in the past. Drinks To drink, we picked up the Frozen Wild Blueberry for $8. This is made with wild Blueberry Juice and is a non-alcoholic drink! The Frozen Wild Blueberry This was like a less tart blueberry lemonade! It leaned on the sweeter side, and it almost tasted like there were fresh blueberries muddled in it. It has the texture of a slushee but is topped with a foam. It was refreshing and surprising in the best way! So good! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You need a heavy meal You’re a fan of great pizza and pepperoni cups Or you’re looking for an easy, familiar bite! You should skip this Disney World spot if… You need some AC You want a lot of variety Or you want an easy-to-find seat Overall This was a fantastic spot for lunch or dinner in Disney World! It’s no surprise that it’s so popular. This is the perfect late-night EPCOT dinner after a day of drinking to watch with a fireworks finale. It is a heavy meal, so be prepared before you order. If Disney is feeling extra sweet, it wouldn’t hurt them to add some more seating to this area for the popular quick service. The full spread! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 2. Disney World is officially getting spooky as the Headless Horseman rides down Main Street, U.S.A., and the sun begins to set. Mickey pumpkins line the streets, and you can just feel the Halloween spirit in the air. Mummy Treat Halloween has hit Magic Kingdom, and ever since, we haven’t stopped eating limited-time snacks. We headed to the Cheshire Cafe to try one of our favorite returning snacks to see if it still lives up to the hype. Say hello to the Mummy Treat for $6.29. This is a flaky pastry with chocolate filling, topped with white icing stripes and sugar decor. This treat is only available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It’s SO cute If you’ve had the classic Cheshire Cat Tail, you’re probably going to love this mummified take. It’s very similar but with a different icing on top. Cheshire Cat Tail This frosting is fluffier and lighter, and reminds us more of a whipped topping. We thought it tasted like marshmallow fluff, which is perfect for Halloween. The frosting is the more dominant flavor and almost overpowers the pastry, but it depends on what your preference is (I’m a frosting girl myself!). Cheshire Cafe The pastry was flaky but more on the dry side. It did have a decent amount of chocolate in it, but again, this is basically a Cheshire Cat Tail with a different topping. We did like the little eyes on top and how they melt in your mouth. Inside The Mummy Treat is only available during your after-hours Halloween party, so is it worth the stop? We’re not quite sure. We would probably skip this treat during those limited party hours and opt for something more unique, such as a Cheshire Cat Tail, during the day hours. We’re trying as many Halloween treats as we can, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more food reviews to help you decide if it’s worth the stop. 3. We can’t (and won’t) stop eating all of the new Halloween treats that have magically appeared at Disney World. From exclusive snacks at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to special treats at the resort, if it’s got a Mickey pumpkin on it or a ghost, we’re trying it. Zero Cream Puff We headed to Disney Springs to try six treats to see if there are any tricks. These limited-time desserts are going to make you head straight to the Lime Parking Garage and dive in. First, we headed to Swirls on the Water. We started with the Pumpkin Mickey Cone for $6.49, which has marshmallow, chocolate soft serve in a pumpkin waffle cone with Halloween sprinkles and white chocolate pieces. Pumpkin Mickey Cone While this is one of the cutest soft serves we’ve had, the flavors weren’t anything special. The chocolate and vanilla soft serve were traditional, and while the cone was supposed to be pumpkin, we thought it actually had a slight orange flavor. The sprinkles above the edges gave it a nice crunch, and while we certainly weren’t upset to eat this, we think there are more unique flavors out there. That being said, if you want to get into the Halloween spirit but stick to the normal flavors, this is the treat for you. It’s SO cute Then we had The Sanderson Sisters Caramel-Apple Pie Sundae for $6.49. This is green apple soft-serve, caramel soft-serve, apple pie filling, streusel topping, Halloween sprinkles, and white chocolate decor. The Sanderson Sisters Caramel Apple Pie Sundae This was so good! The combination of the caramel and the green apple was perfect, and the green apple flavor was subtle without being overly tart. The caramel soft serve was refreshing, and together it was a match made in heaven. The streusel really did taste like apple pie, which made us so happy. Who knew the Sanderson Sisters had killer ice cream? Digging in After this, we headed to Marketplace Snacks to try the Trick-or-Treat Waffle for $9.49. It has vanilla and chocolate soft-serve, SNICKERS bar pieces, TWIX cookie bar pieces, M&M’s chocolate candies Halloween blend, SKITTLES POP’d Original Freeze Dried Candy, chocolate fudge, caramel, and chocolate biscuit sticks. Woah! That’s a lot. Trick-or-Treat Waffle There were so many candies on top that we could barely see the ice cream. It was like dumping a trick-or-treat bag of ice cream on a waffle. The chocolate vanilla soft serve was simple and creamy, and all the toppings made it super crunchy. It was very sweet because of all the candies, so this might be a good one to share with the family. The waffle was fresh and fluffy, and the little Mickey heads were super cute. So many candies At Amorette’s Patisserie, we had the Zero Cream Puff for $8.75, which is Pâte à Choux filled with caramel popcorn mousse. Zero Cream Puff First off, can we talk about how cute this is? Obsessed! This cream puff really tasted like caramel popcorn. The strong flavors were buttery and savory, just like caramel corn. The actual cream puff was crispy on the outside, and the filling was light and creamy, exactly like it should be. We couldn’t believe how well they captured the flavor. Inside Then we tried the Ghost Entremet for $8.25, which is a cookies and cream mousse, dark chocolate crispy pearls, and house-made chocolate chip brownie. Ghost Entremet We enjoyed the whipped cookies and cream cookie dough, which was fluffy and reminded us of eating raw cookie dough in the best way. The brownie on the bottom had a great chocolate flavor, but it was pretty tough and hard to cut through. We wish it were a bit more moist and fluffy, but the flavors were there. Inside Finally, we had the Coco Éclair for $8. It was made with Pâte à Choux filled with vanilla almond mousse. Coco Eclair This treat was coming in hot with the pistachio flavor! The whipped cream was a bit lighter on the flavor, and the filling was almost overwhelming. The pastry was crispy on the outside and a bit soggy on the inside, which wasn’t our favorite. We think if you’re really into the pistachio and almond flavor, you’ll really enjoy this, but everyone else might want to skip. Look at that filling Overall, Disney is bringing in some incredible limited-time snacks for Halloween this year, and we’re here for it. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more food reviews to help you decide what’s worth it and what’s not. Jollywood Nights Disney World loves to embrace the holiday fun at the end of the year with events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, and Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Speaking of the Hollywood Studios party, Disney has recently confirmed some pretty big Jollywood Nights features, and we’re letting you know all about ’em! Backlot Express will join the rest of the park as it offers “new boutique bites and returning favorites,” according to Disney. Backlot Express Along with this special menu from Backlot Express and early entry into Hollywood Studios, Disney’s also confirmed plenty of entertainment, including the return of “Glisten!”, an ice-skating show located in front of the Chinese Theater! This show features world-class skaters performing to holiday music with projections in the background. Glisten! Disney also confirmed that “Disney Holidays in Hollywood” will be returning. This show stars Kermit and Miss Piggy at the Theater of the Stars, and features beloved Disney characters such as Belle, Mickey, Minnie, and Tiana alongside a live band. Disney Holidays in Hollywood “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along” is also confirmed to be returning, and will be held at the Hyperion Theater. 6. I think we just found our favorite version of Mickey Waffles EVER! Schmoozie’s Halloween decorations are up, Oogie Boogie Bash has officially returned, and there’s brand new offerings waiting to be explored around Disneyland. If you’ve been scoping out the latest eats and treats you’ll find around Disneyland this Fall (and wondering what’s worth spending your money on while visiting), we’ve found one you NEED to add to the top of your list. Halloween has arrived at Disneyland and with it have come some tasty new treats and snacks. Our search for the next best seasonal offering led us over to Schmoozie’s for a quick bite! Schmoozie’s menu This is where we picked up the Ursula Enchanted Waffles for $11.29. We couldn’t resist the charms of dark chocolate Mickey-shaped waffles filled with ube custard and dusted with powdered sugar, so naturally, we picked up an order and set out to snack for research! Ursula Enchanted Waffles These are hands down the best waffles we have ever had from Schmoozies! Our reporter was worried they would be overly sweet because of the dark chocolate combined with the Ube custard, but they were perfection! They do have a richness to them, but the custard really paired well with the dark chocolate to our surprise. Even after trying them with syrup we were surprised to find that didn’t make them too sweet. Overall, we were FLOORED by the flavors! These were perfect! The texture of the waffles were on point, the custard is cooled just enough inside to ooze out of the waffles as they open, and we couldn’t can’t say enough good things about them. Our only complaint is that we wished they offered them in a multi-level pack like the Mickey beignets. After thinking that through though, that’s probably for the best because we could have easily downed 6 of these waffles in one sitting. Don’t go anywhere! We’re trying all the newest eats, sips, and treats around Disney! Be sure to stay tuned with us at DFB as we try them all. 8. Pack your bags — your shopping bags, that is! Mickey’s of Glendale is once again heading to Destination D23, bringing an exclusive lineup of merchandise inspired by Disney Parks attractions, global destinations, and the creative spirit of Walt Disney Imagineering. Each collection was dreamed up by the Imagineers and storytellers who help bring Disney magic to life. From playful park icons to a Kermit takeover, here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming to the ultimate event for Disney fans. Passport Collection For this year’s Destination D23 theme, “Journey Around the Worlds of Disney,” Mike Quinn, Lead Concept Designer, set out to design something that captured the spirit of travel, adventure, and discovery with a wink to Imagineering magic from across the globe. The Passport Collection is your boarding pass to a world of Disney magic, literally. Inspired by global transit systems and infused with Imagineering artistry, this graphic-driven collection takes a bold and minimalist approach to celebrating the Disney parks around the world. “With the overarching theme of travel, I wanted to do something unique and different, both visually and conceptually,” said Mike. “And of course, something bold and graphic that would work well on a t-shirt.” One of the standout visual elements in the Passport Collection is the use of metro iconography — minimalist, graphic symbols commonly used throughout urban transit signage. But look closer, and you’ll notice they’re coded with abbreviations for Disney parks where the attraction is located. Disney Destinations Collection Prefer to take to the skies? Buckle up for Disney Destinations — a charming collection that brings together beloved characters and park icons from around the world in whimsical illustration inspired by the vibrant style of Mary Blair. Designed by Tyler Krantz, Product Designer for Mickey’s of Glendale, the collection connects all six Disney castles through playful artwork featuring airborne characters like Dumbo, Goofy in his prop plane, and Orange Bird taking flight. “I was inspired by Mary Blair’s work on the classic attraction ‘it’s a small world’ and her imaginative concept art for Disney’s iconic mid-century films,” Tyler said. “This collection captures the hopeful tone, stylized shapes, and bold colors of Mary Blair’s work.” Every detail of this collection invites fans to explore the parks through a new lens, from past and present to even future destinations. But for Tyler, one piece stands out: “I’m especially excited about the Disneyland Resort pin. It holds a lot of personal meaning. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure were the very first Disney parks I visited, all the way back in 2001!” The Muppets Studio Collections We’re past the halfway point of #TheMuppets70 celebration, and Mickey’s of Glendale is pulling out all the stops with not one, but three exclusive Muppets-themed drops: The Muppets Studio Black & Gold Collection – A sleek lineup featuring the iconic studio logo on a classic crew cap and all-new Spirit Jersey. Kermit Takeover Capsule – A soft, summery lime green takeover starring everyone’s favorite frog. The Muppets 70: #1–35 Collection – Inspired by the first 35 characters spotlighted in the anniversary campaign, this nostalgic collection features cozy apparel and fun home goods. Much of the merchandise was designed by Dani Iglesias, Producer for The Muppets Studio, who is an enormous Muppets fan. “If you had told me as a kid that someday I’d be designing for The Muppets, I’d never have believed you,” Dani said. “My design process is all about keeping one foot in the past and one foot in the future — honoring the history of these beloved characters but also allowing the franchise to evolve.” And when asked which item she’s most excited about? “There’s a stunning sweatshirt for the 70th anniversary that we’ve been working on for almost a year,” she said. “It’s got over a dozen characters in the Muppet Show-style arches. It’s so soft and cozy — it’s definitely going in my closet!” Even More Magic Awaits And that’s not all! Guests will also find a brand-new collection of Walt Disney Imagineering merchandise. Whether you’re a collector, a parks history buff, or simply a fan of bold, original design, there’s something for everyone at Mickey’s of Glendale at Destination D23. 10. 2026 Disneyland vacation packages just dropped, which means it’s time to plan our next trip to The Happiest Place on Earth. With new vacation packages come new details, and we have a lot to share. Sleeping Beauty Castle If you’re planning on staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, make sure you read below to check out all the information you need to know for upcoming trips. Starting January 5th, 2026, there will be no more early morning entries. Currently, guests staying at Disneyland Resort hotels could enter the parks 30 minutes early, so they could snag some extra park time before it was open to the public. This benefit is now going away. Disneyland Hotel Instead, guests will receive one Lightning Lane per person, per stay. This Lightning Lane will be part of Lightning Lane Multi Pass and can help you skip the line at most rides, excluding Radiator Springs Racers and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Lightning Lane entrance at Disneyland’s Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway The Lightning Lane will be available with a valid park admission and reservation, and Disney Vacation Club reservations qualify, but Good Neighbor Hotel bookings do not. This change lets you skip a line in the parks without having to wake up early. Score! The biggest change is that Early Entry was available every day, switching back and forth between the two parks, while you will only receive one Lightning Lane for your entire stay. Space Mountain Lightning Lane The Pixar Place Hotel also has an additional entrance into Disney California Adventure, but this entrance will not be available starting January 5th, 2026, as they work on new construction and projects coming to the park. 11. Let’s talk about the most wonderful time of the year at Disney World! Mickey at Hollywood & Vine Halloween has begun at Disney World, and there have already been a couple of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights — but that is NOT what we’re talking about. We’re, of course, talking about Christmastime at Disney World! It’s not only because we’re looking forward to the jolly season (yes, we know it’s August), but also because the dates have dropped for a popular Disney World Christmas dining experience! Have you ever dined at Hollywood & Vine? It’s an all-you-can-eat character dining experience located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the morning, you can enjoy breakfast with your favorite Disney Junior stars. If you go for lunch and dinner, you get to hang out with Minnie Mouse and her friends. The special thing about this restaurant is that Minnie loves to celebrate different seasons throughout the year — giving each season a different dining experience. Minnie’s Holiday Dine One of our favorite times of the year at Hollywood and Vine is the holiday season. Now, Disney has just confirmed the dates for both the Holiday Dine and the Silver Screen Dine! The Holiday Dine will see the halls decked out at a dazzling dinner party filled with holiday cheer and the joy of the season. ©Disney You’ll get to join Minnie and her friends for a holiday dining celebration like no other. 13. One of the most popular EPCOT festivals is just around the corner, starting on August 28th, and we’re ready to grab our forks and dive into delectable dishes across the park. The 2025 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is almost here! 2023 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival While this festival comes with new snacks to try, entertainment to watch, and merchandise to buy, it also comes with some problems you need to know about before scanning in and grabbing your festival passport. First up, beware of the weather! Food & Wine starts at the end of August, which brings in the heat. Many of the food booths are directly in the sun, so when you’re waiting in line, you might be questioning your desire to try that new snack you’ve been hearing great things about. Waiting in line A lot of the menu items are also geared towards the fall, which is great in theory, but not so spectacular when you consider that Orlando barely has a fall season. Don’t get us wrong — we love the Cheddar and Bacon Soup served with a pretzel roll at the Canada booth, along with the Filet Mignon with mushrooms and mashed potatoes, but when it feels like you’ve been walking around in a sauna, these dishes might not sound appealing. One of our favorite festival eats! If you’re thinking, “well, I could grab my food from the hot sun and then sit inside the air conditioning with my dish to cool down,” think again. While there are some indoor seating areas, the majority of them will be outside, and even worse, you might struggle to find tables. Many of the tables are high tops with no chairs, which can make you feel rushed during your meal. Flavors From Fire Another part to be aware of is the popularity of this festival. Despite running from August 28th to November 22nd, three whole months, this is a fan favorite festival that has people coming in time and time again. Lines can get long on weekends Many guests will come in after their work days to grab dinner in the parks, so even the evening time can be busy. That’s also when the Eat to the Beat Concert Series is, where artists perform in the American Gardens Theater. Some of these bands bring in HUGE lines like The Fray and Boyz II Men. The Beach Boys and Bowling for Soup are new this year, and we’re expecting big lines for them, too! Eat to the Beat Now that you know some problems with the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, how do you conquer them? We recommend prioritizing your list. While you’re probably going to want to try 50 different foods across the booths, you should pick one or two that you can’t live without and then keep the others as back up. While the food booths can crank out food pretty fast, it feels like there are always long lines, and you don’t want to be stressed trying to get everywhere. Food and Wine Passport Don’t be afraid to split up your group, too! If some want to grab drinks from one booth and food from another, splitting up your group can help you make the most of your time. Avoid the crowds While there are definitely some dishes we could gobble up entirely by ourselves (okay, a lot of dishes), these are great opportunities to share, too. You won’t have to worry about fully settling down for a meal if you’re splitting one quick plate of dumplings before heading to the next. Pão de Queijo: Brazilian cheese bread For dealing with the weather, don’t forget to take those breaks inside. Whether you pop in to check out the merchandise or spend an hour sitting in the Odyssey, taking a break in the air conditioning can help you stay in the parks longer. 15. Okay, so 2025 has been one of the BIGGEST years for change in Disney World in recent memory. Three out of four parks are getting brand new lands, with one park getting a new land AND an expansion to an existing land. Rides have been closed for updates. Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of those parks that’s already changed a lot this year, as DinoLand U.S.A. has started a phased closure to make way for a new land, Pueblo Esperanza. As construction on Puebla Esperanza continues, another part of DinoLand U.S.A. will be closing soon: The Boneyard. On September 2nd, The Boneyard will close forever to make way for more construction happening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom as Disney brings Pueblo Esperanza to life. The Boneyard is a playground that invites little ones to explore a prehistoric setting with rope bridges, caves, slides, and more. Kids can even excavate fossils at The Boneyard’s dig site. More importantly, though, the Boneyard offers shaded seating with big fans for parents. The Boneyard With this part of Animal Kingdom closing down, this leaves one less area for parents to relax while kids burn off some energy. However, another good option for kids is Conservation Station, which can be reached by taking the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Conservation Station is home to the Affection Section, a petting zoo, as well as the Animation Experience, where you can learn to draw Disney characters. Affection Section Conservation Station also has a spot where you can watch animals being cared for in the Veterinary Treatment Room, a place to watch animal caretakers prepare meals for animals, a science center, and more. It’s a great way to keep little ones engaged, learning, and entertained. Veterinary Treatment Room In the meantime, you’ll want to keep in mind that after September 2nd, there will be one less thing to do in Animal Kingdfdom, and prepare accordingly. Stay tuned to DFB for more. These Disney Adult Animal Kingdom Hacks Are Getting Out of Control Is The Boneyard a must for your kids in Disney World? Let us know in the comments! 16. Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest in the country, with travelers coming in from all over the world, but there’s one day when it might feel even more confusing! Orlando International Airport We have seen a few changes in the travel industry this year. From Real IDs needed for TSA to the shoes on policy change, it might feel hard to keep up with the latest policies when flying. If you are flying in or out of Orlando International on January 27th, there is something you need to be aware of! Southwest Airlines is set to make a big change on January 27th, 2026. It is finally rolling out assigned seating for the very first time. For decades, the airline has been known for its “open seating” policy, where passengers boarded in groups and chose any available seat. While many travelers will welcome the peace of mind knowing their seat before boarding, the transition is expected to come with growing pains, especially at busy hubs like Orlando International Airport. With Orlando already one of the most traveled airports in the country, a major policy shift like this could create confusion and delays. Southwest Cabin The challenge lies in the fact that thousands of travelers, including both frequent flyers and first-time visitors, will be adjusting to the new system. Some may still expect the old “first-come, first-served” boarding process, while others will be unsure where to find their new seat assignments. Add in the large number of families, theme park visitors, and international travelers who pass through Orlando daily. The airport could quickly become a hot spot for misunderstandings, crowded gate areas, and even delayed departures. Southwest at MCO If you’re flying Southwest out of Orlando on January 27th or the days following, a little preparation can help you avoid unnecessary stress. Make sure to check your boarding pass carefully for your seat assignment before heading to the gate. If you’re traveling with family, double-check that your group is seated together and make any necessary changes in advance through the Southwest app or website. Arriving a bit earlier than usual can also give you extra time to navigate any unexpected hiccups. Let’s fly! So why the change? Southwest explained that the airline conducted a research investigation and found that “80% of Southwest Customers, and 86% of potential customers, prefer an assigned seat.” So while it might take time to adjust to this change, it seems like it could be a benefit for many flyers. 17. Some Disney days are all about character breakfasts and castle views. But lately at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, things are getting a little more… shall we say interesting? Thanks to the debut of two all-new stage shows, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, this park has become the ultimate destination for a perfectly themed day. But here’s the question: Will your day be guided by mischief and mayhem or thingamabobs and whatzits? Welcome to the era of Mermaids and Villains. Whether you lean into your wicked side or let your inner mermaid shine, there’s no wrong way to do it. In fact, the best way is to see both, just like panelists Eean K and Keri B. did on a recent trip to Hollywood Studios. Start With Sass or Begin with Splash? There are two fabulously themed ways to build your day around these shows. Let’s begin with the Villains route, or as we like to say: start with sass and end with sweetness. Maybe you love a dramatic entrance. Maybe your closet is already full of black, purple, and green. Or perhaps, you’ve always thought Maleficent was just misunderstood. If so, this is your day to let your villain flag fly. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After is a theatrical treat full of bold visuals, unexpected laughs, and villain stories — it’s a little bit like Cruella was let loose on Broadway. A popular show, planDisney panelist Eean, suggests arriving at least 20 minutes before show time, but don’t worry, there’s not a bad seat in this house. Before or after the show, own your villainous side and grab a themed treat like a Maleficent Cone or Hades Float from Hollywood Scoops. You might also want to pop into a shop for some accessories to complete your day. Those Ursula ears might be just what you need for the plane ride home. And do not forget to snap a photo in your most devilishly stylish pose. “This is one of my favorite ways to show off my Disney side and it makes a great souvenir to take home or a great gift for any Villains fan,” explains Keri. From PhotoPass moments to fierce souvenirs, this version of the day is all about going bold. The Mermaid Route: Float Into the Day, Then Get a Little Fierce Prefer to start your day flippin’ fins and singing along? The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure is a reimagined live-action show that brings the classic story to life with special effects, spectacular staging, and those songs we all know by heart. It’s charming, cool (yes air conditioning!), and ideal for all ages. After the show, keep the undersea energy going. There’s a nearby shop full of mermaid goodies, from plushies and ears to glittery dresses and Ariel-inspired accessories. Stop for a themed latte or tea with bubbly names like Joffrey’s Under the Sea Caramel Latte, available only for Annual Passholders at Joffrey’s locations throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Bubbles of the Sea at ABC Commissary and Market, and take a few moments to just wander, sip, and sparkle. This is your feel-good phase of the day. But once you’re recharged and ready, it might just be time to find out what’s waiting on the darker side of the stage… One Day. Two Stories. All the Disney Magic Here’s the real magic: You don’t have to choose. Start light and end with sass, or go villainous early and float under the sea later. Either way, these shows pair perfectly with shopping, snacking, strolling, and just the right amount of themed fun in between. Want to take it a step further? Meet Ariel from the live-action The Little Mermaid at Prince Eric’s castle terrace in Walt Disney Presents, snag a Villains-themed souvenir cup, or treat yourself to a Fantasmic! Dining Package at The Hollywood Brown Derby to end your night with fireworks, music, and some of Disney’s most legendary characters lighting up the sky. Whether your style is fins-first or fabulously fierce, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is ready to deliver a show-stopping day from start to finish. Looking for more personalized tips? 18. Picture this: You’re hopping on the plane to head to your next destination. You’re ready to read your book and gaze out the window while you fly into a new city and adventure. You booked a window seat, but as you find your row, you see there’s no window. Ah! ©Delta This has happened one too many times because, according to Reuters, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are being sued by passengers who paid extra to sit in window seats only to discover there are no windows. The proposed class actions were filed against United Airlines in the San Francisco federal court and Delta Air Lines in the Brooklyn, New York federal court. The passengers are seeking millions of dollars in damages for more than 1 million passengers for each of the airlines. ©Delta Most of these complaints were on the Boeing 737, Boeing 757, and Airbus A321 planes since spots that normally have windows have air conditioning ducts, electrical conduits, or other elements. ©United Airlines The passengers are claiming that “Delta and United do not flag these seats during the booking process, unlike rivals such as Alaska Airlines and American Airlines, even when charging tens or occasionally hundreds of dollars for them.” ©Getty Images The United complaint said: “Had plaintiffs and the class members known that the seats they were purchasing were windowless, they would not have selected them — much less have paid extra.” ©United Airlines While passengers can use third parties like SeatGuru to find which seats are missing windows, the lawyer representing the lawsuits says it does not excuse Delta and United from providing the information. He said, “A company can’t misrepresent the nature of the products it sells and then rely on third-party reviews to say a customer should have known it was lying.” One passenger leading the lawsuit said that United refunded her additional fees for windowless seats on two flights but not a third. Delta and United have not yet responded. Keep following DFB for more travel news. TSA HAS BANNED 6 POPULAR TRAVEL ITEMS Have you ever paid extra for a window seat to find there was no window? 20. Orlando’s theme parks have rolled out a few new things with familiar feels lately. These additions aren’t the kind of things that prompt cross-country trips or land in splashy ad campaigns, but they can enhance outings to the attractions. Seating sequel Don’t pull up a chair to watch “Acrobatico!” That could ruin the whole act. The new performance at Epcot’s France pavilion is a one-person show with feats of balance and strength, hints of mime, and an increasing number of stacked chairs. It’s gentle, engaging humor. It’s also going to remind Epcotters of “Serveur Amusant,” a similar act that hasn’t been seen at the theme park in about five years. That was a two-person show, including a chef character who used a whistle persistently, and it stacked chairs higher, perhaps perilously so. Epcot visitors watch the new "Acrobatico!" street performance in the France pavilion of the theme park. The artist mixes a balancing act with chairs with mime, comedy, crowd interaction and jump roping. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel) There’s a lot of buildup in “Acrobatico!” as the performer sets the scene. She creates a boundary with a tricolored rope, sets the table and interacts with passers-by. Eventually, the stacking of chairs carefully begins with an athletic pose at each stage. Again, there’s authentic French music, heavy on accordion. I did not miss the whistle. It wraps up in 12 minutes or so, but it does its job: An international, pleasant diversion. And it continues the silent tradition at Epcot. Remember the mime in a bubble? On a recent trip to Epcot, I also bumped into the Max & Aydar, an act listed on the Walt Disney World app as “a delightful duo.” Their rolling stage refers to them as “amazing masters of variety.” Max & Aydar can now be seen roaming Epcot for spontaneous performances. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel) The bit I saw involved juggling, spinning plates, honking horns and crowd participation. Enjoyable visuals included a safety helmet with mouse ears and the directional sign for each Epcot pavilion. (Sidenote: “Norway” looks good in the famed Walt signature font.) Both these acts gave Citizens of World Showcase vibes, and who could be mad at that? But they aren’t on the park schedule every day. Times and dates are listed on the My Disney Experience app as well as disneyworld.com. Small change “Last verse, same as the first” doesn’t exactly apply at “it’s a small world” anymore. New lines have been added to the Magic Kingdom original. The new words were supplied by Richard Sherman, who passed away last year. He and his brother Robert put together the original in the 1960s. So, I’m on the “small world” boat and feeling kind of Angry Disney Adult because some of the figures’ movements are off the beat (can’t that one little French doll can-can better than that?) and two live humans in front of me are singing the theme song as if they were chipmunks. Don’t. They didn’t know the original verses, and all was forgiven by the time we floated through the all-white finale recap scene, where the new lyrics are heard. “Mother Earth unites us in heart and mind/ and the love we give makes us humankind / Through our vast wondrous land / When we stand hand in hand / It’s a small world, after all.” It’s a little deeper and polysyllabic compared with the original, although one shouldn’t critique the work of the Shermans. That can get you run out of town on a monorail. The addition is seamless, and I believe even the animatronics were digging it. Except that one who didn’t appear to have as much gusto about humankind, but, you know, she’s a doll. SeaWorld Orlando visitors line up for a meet-and-greet with the Baby Shark character. (Dewayne Bevi/Orlando Sentinel) Baby shark bait Baby Shark is now doing meet-and-greets at SeaWorld Orlando. The character, along with her Daddy, Mommy and Pinkfong, has been part of a stage show all summer, which has marked the 10th anniversary of BS and his catchy-for-preschoolers ditty. The interactions aren’t scheduled daily, and on the days they are available, it’s not exactly apparent where to stand for them. The first sign, literally, was seen upon exiting the stage show, which is now called “Pinkfong and Baby Shark’s FIN-Tastic Adventure.” The meet-ups are scheduled right after the show in the corridor where audience members enter (and exit) Seaport Theater. Folks who want to be quick to the line sit near the stage and close to the door. There’s a Baby Shark mural that serves as a photo backdrop. On my visit, the area filled pretty quickly with 40 or 50 (how to count toddlers?) people. The character, while perhaps not holiday-card material, is unique-looking and someone you won’t meet back in Peoria. But it’s a limited-time offer at SeaWorld. Baby Shark is there only through Sept. 2. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. X account: @themeparks. 22. Do you like waffles? Yeah, we like waffles! Disney’s Grand Californian If you like waffles too, you have to check out the NEW waffles at this spot we recently went to at the Disneyland Resort! If you’ve been to the Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort, you may have heard of the Craftsman Bar and Grill. They’re always doing certain “foods” of the month. For example, we’ve tried their hot dogs of the month. This time we went for the waffle of the month! August Waffle of the Month! Introducing the August Waffle of the Month, also known as the S’mores Waffle! We got it for $17 — okay, yes, a little pricey for a waffle, but look at it, how could we pass it up? This was delicious, but it’s a bit much for one person to have for breakfast. The Belgian waffle bites were soft with a nice golden brown outside, making for a satisfying and sweet crunchy bite. Waffle of the month at GCH Craftsman Bar and Grill! On its own, the Ghirardelli chocolate sauce was almost too rich for us, but mixing it with the graham cracker crème anglaise helped tone down the rich chocolate flavor. We thought the anglaise would mostly have a sweet vanilla flavor, but it tasted just like graham crackers, with hints of a sweet vanilla flavor. Most of the mini marshmallows were toasted, giving them a gooey texture! If you love chocolate and s’mores, or are looking for a sweet start to the day, we’d go for this! S’mores Waffle! While we did enjoy it, it’s heavy and filling, so we couldn’t finish it on our own. Hey, at least that means you get your money’s worth for this thing. It’s very rich and sweet, so we’d recommend sharing it with someone. All in all, great waffle of the month! This was so tasty! 23. When you’re heading to Disneyland, you may struggle to find something to eat for breakfast — trust me, I’ve been there! Disneyland Breakfast is hard to find! However, there are great breakfast spots in Disneyland that are tucked away. We promise, they are there, but they do take some digging to find. For example, this Fantasyland spot is away from the main path, but it’s super peaceful, and we recommend that you don’t pass it up on your next trip! Over in Fantasyland, you’ll find Maurice’s Treats off the beaten path. This is a quick service cart, so there’s no official seating for it, but you’re right near the Royal Theatre, where there are currently no shows, so there’s plenty of seating to eat peacefully. Maurice’s Treats If it’s raining or the sun is beating down, no worries, because the entirety of the Royal Theatre is covered! Tons of covered seating We grabbed the semi-new Breakfast Cheesy Pretzel for $13.49, but it’s not really a pretzel — it’s a sandwich that’s on pretzel bread. This is a sizable sandwich — we initially balked at the price, but this is VERY shareable. It has cheese, scrambled eggs, and two sausage links on the top, and when we saw that they were all sitting in a heated box, we expected that would translate to hard bread and a dried-out sandwich. Breakfast Cheesy Pretzel Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at all! The bread is chewy and flavorful, the cheese adds a tanginess, the eggs are well seasoned, and the sausage links here are good and they have a nice snap. However, if you’re not a fan of sausage, we would stay away from this — it has a good amount of sandwich filling, but if you’re going to remove the sausage, you will have vastly overpaid for it. You’ve got to really like sausage! To drink, we grabbed the Mocha Nitro Cold Brew for $7.29. This is Joffrey’s coffee and therefore feels familiar to us, because we’re used to Joffrey’s in Disney World! Mocha Nitro Cold Brew That said, this wasn’t our favorite. The syrup on the cup is dark chocolate, and there’s just too much of it. We know what you’re saying — how is there ever too much chocolate? But the dark chocolate syrup made this too bitter, and now we really felt like we needed to add a hefty amount of sweetener to even it out. More Recent Disneyland Resort News! 24. The Disneyland Resort is going to look VERY different over the coming years, and Disney California Adventure will be at the forefront of that change! ©Disney In 2024, it was announced that a new Avatar experience would be coming to Disney California Adventure at some point over the next few years. Thematically different from Pandora — The World of AVATAR located in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, this unique-to-Disneyland expansion will “bring Pandora to life in a brand-new way,” inspired primarily by Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash and the following sequels. While the land specifics have been scarce, we have learned some fascinating tidbits over the past year-plus, and we’re sharing everything we know so far! How the layout will look and what kind of shopping and dining options will be available is all still pretty murky. HOWEVER, we do know about a MAJOR ride coming to the land that could take a page out of Shanghai Disney’s highly-touted Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Avatar land at Disneyland ©Disney Disney has teased an innovative boat ride coming to this new Avatar land — one which will let you explore new areas of Pandora in a “thrilling excursion that will bring all the action, excitement, and wonder of Avatar, taking guests all the way to the wide-open seas of Pandora.” Disney added, “This is going to be a dynamic, intense and emotional experience on a grand scale that we know our guests will love.” ©Disney The ride won’t be your average boat ride attraction, featuring “the beauty – and danger – that come along with the journey.” ©Disney In June 2025, Disney confirmed suspicions of where the new land — and this promising attraction — will go. Disney California Adventure doesn’t have an obvious open space to fit a new land, so either expansion or replacement would be needed. Disney is opting for the latter when it comes to this project (although the Avengers Campus and new Coco ride projects will see the map of Disney California Adventure expand). The land could (and probably will) expand the Disney California Adventure walls, but it will also require the sacrifice of a beloved dark ride. ©Disney It’s been officially stated by Disney that the Avatar expansion will take over a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area in Disney California Adventure, meaning we’ll be saying goodbye to Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! PERMANENTLY in early 2026. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! When the attraction closes, a multi-year construction project will begin in the fall of 2026 — but other than that, Disney hasn’t shared any further construction timeframes or more land details. Concept art for an Avatar area in Anaheim ©Disney We CAN’T WAIT to learn more about this new Avatar experience and will share all the details as they’re made known! 25. SeaWorld Orlando again is selling its Fun Card pass, a ticket that allows entry to the theme park for the rest of 2025 and all of 2026. The price for the 2026 Fun Card is $143.99. The offer “ends soon,” the SeaWorld website warns, but no end date is currently posted. Two expiration dates have appeared there but were then removed. There is also a Fun Card that includes Aquatica, SeaWorld’s water park. It is selling for $199.99 (regularly priced at $235.99). Both varieties of passes come with block-out dates, generally around holidays and other busy times at the attractions. A Fun Card purchased now would include activities for the park’s Summer Spectacular promotion, Halloween Spooktacular, Guy Harvey Weekend and Christmas Celebration in 2025. Howl-O-Scream, an intense after-hours Halloween event, is separately ticketed and not included with Fun Cards. The Fun Card also does not include parking or have discounts for food and merchandise. The offer is valid only for residents of the U.S. and Canada. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, SeaWorld’s sister park, also is running a Fun Card special for $143.99. Among the additional events scheduled for SeaWorld in 2026 are the Seven Seas Food Festival, Viva la Musica and Electric Ocean, which is listed as “all new” for summer, alongside a fresh drone show.
