You can beg, you can plead, but no matter how many times you ask, Disney still won’t let you move into the Haunted Mansion. Lightning Lane at Haunted Mansion But there is one rule Disney enforces every single day that could truly derail your trip if you don’t know about it. We’re talking about Lightning Lanes. This system has replaced FastPass and Genie+, and if you don’t know exactly how it works, you could be stuck in long lines, wasting valuable park time, and watching your dream rides disappear from availability before you even finish your morning coffee. Today we’re breaking it down: the one Disney World rule that can ruin your day if you aren’t prepared, and exactly how to use it to your full advantage. Lightning Lanes in a Nutshell Think of Lightning Lanes as your “express pass” to skip the regular standby line at certain attractions. Instead of waiting 75 minutes to ride Space Mountain, you can hop into the Lightning Lane line and board much faster. But here’s the catch: this isn’t free, and there are rules about when and how you can book. Lightning Lanes in Walt Disney World As of July 2024, Disney officially retired Genie+ and rebranded the system with three new Lightning Lane options: Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+): lets you book multiple rides for one price. Lightning Lane Single Pass (formerly Individual Lightning Lanes): lets you pay per ride for the biggest headliners. Lightning Lane Premier Pass (brand new in 2024): lets you buy all the Lightning Lane access in a single park for one flat (but very high) price. Sounds simple, right? Here’s the thing: the devil is in the details. And if you don’t know those details, you could easily spend money, miss rides, and find yourself more frustrated than if you’d just stayed in the standby line. Why This Rule Matters The most important rule is this: Lightning Lanes open at very specific times, and if you aren’t ready, you’ll miss your shot. Guests staying at Disney World hotels (and a few partner resorts like the Swan, Dolphin, and Shades of Green) can book 7 days in advance of their check-in date for their whole trip. All other guests can book 3 days in advance of their park visit. Both groups need to be logged into the My Disney Experience app and ready to book starting at 7:00 AM Eastern sharp. This rule is non-negotiable. Disney doesn’t hold extra spots later in the day for late risers, and you can’t sweet-talk a Cast Member into bending it. If you aren’t online the second the system opens, you’re competing with thousands of other guests who are ready, and the most popular rides (looking at you, TRON Lightcycle / Run and Rise of the Resistance) will be gone. Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane Miss this window, and your whole park plan could unravel. That’s why we’re calling it the one Disney World rule that can ruin your day. Breaking Down the Lightning Lane Options 1. Lightning Lane Multi Pass This is the bread-and-butter option most guests use. It replaced Genie+ and works a lot like the old FastPass system, but with more restrictions. You can pre-book up to 3 attractions per day in one park. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios use a tiered system. That means you can only pick one “Tier 1” ride (the biggest rides) and two from the lower-tier attractions when you first book. Animal Kingdom doesn’t use tiers. Once you use your first booked Lightning Lane, you can grab another (subject to availability), and so on. Prices vary depending on the park and the day. On a quiet weekday at Animal Kingdom, you might pay $18. On a peak holiday weekend at Magic Kingdom, it could climb as high as $39. Disney Lightning Lane Brochure Here’s the real kicker: you’re not just competing with people in your park. Everyone eligible that morning is online at 7:00 AM booking across all four parks. 2. Lightning Lane Single Pass These are the à la carte rides: the biggest, shiniest attractions in each park that Disney knows they can charge extra for. Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run. EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage. Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. ©Disney Prices range from about $10 to $25, depending on the ride and day. You can only book two per person per day. 3. Lightning Lane Premier Pass This is the new high-roller option. For one price, you get access to all the Lightning Lane attractions in a single park. Magic Kingdom: $329–$449 per person, per day. Hollywood Studios: $269–$349. EPCOT: $169–$249. Animal Kingdom: $129–$199. Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane Yes, those numbers are real. For a family of four, you could be paying well over $1,000 for one day in one park. That’s why Disney sells it in “very limited quantities.” It’s pricey, but if money is no object, it does remove all the stress of planning and booking times. Common Pitfalls That Can Wreck Your Day Here are the biggest mistakes we’ve seen guests make — the ones that cause the “ruined day” situations: Not Linking Your Party in the App Ahead of Time: If you don’t link your family and friends in My Disney Experience, you’ll spend your booking window fumbling with tech instead of actually securing rides. Booking Too Late: Waiting until 7:10 AM instead of 7:00 AM can be the difference between riding TRON and not. Forgetting Park Hopping Rules: You can’t book a Lightning Lane in a second park until you’ve scanned into your first one. That means if you’re starting at Animal Kingdom but want Slinky Dog Dash later, you have to burn your first selection in Animal Kingdom before booking Hollywood Studios. Not Watching Dining Reservation Conflicts: The system tries to prevent overlap, but it’s not perfect. You could book a Lightning Lane window that overlaps with your dining reservation, leaving you to choose between your $200 character meal and your TRON ride. Not Understanding the Tier System: At EPCOT, for example, you can’t book Test Track, Frozen Ever After, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure all at once. You get one, plus two lower-tier attractions. Guests who don’t know this end up disappointed when they realize their first three picks aren’t allowed. Lightning Lane Hacks You Need to Know If you want to beat the system, these tested tricks can give you an edge: The “Throwaway” Strategy: Book a less popular Tier 2 ride first thing in the morning. As soon as you scan in, you’ll unlock the ability to book another Lightning Lane for any ride, even a Tier 1. This speeds up your booking rotation. The 3-Hour Window: Officially, you get a one-hour return window. In reality, Disney often allows you to scan in up to 2 hours late. That means you actually have closer to three hours of flexibility. Practice beforehand: The app lets you walk through the booking steps before your window opens. Use this to practice so you’re not fumbling at 7:00 AM. Start in the “Cheaper” Park With Caution: You can book Multi Passes in Animal Kingdom (which is usually cheaper) and then hop to Magic Kingdom later without paying extra. But remember: the most popular Magic Kingdom rides may already be gone by then. Why Disney Made It Complicated Disney knows time is the most valuable commodity in its parks. The longer you stand in line, the less money you’re spending on snacks, souvenirs, and experiences. Lightning Lanes give guests a way to “buy back” their time — but also add an upsell opportunity for Disney. It’s a delicate balance. On one hand, Lightning Lanes can save you hours of waiting. On the other hand, if you don’t understand the rules, you can waste money and feel like you’re missing out. Lightning Lane for Smugglers Run And that’s why we call it the one rule that can ruin your day: it rewards the planners, the early risers, and the people who do their homework. If you show up winging it, you’re almost guaranteed to walk away frustrated. Final Thoughts Lightning Lanes are now a non-negotiable part of the Disney World experience. Love them or hate them, they’ve changed the way you have to plan your trip. If you know the rules, wake up early, and strategize, they can be a game-changer. If you don’t, they can wreck your carefully planned Disney day. So, do yourself a favor: set that alarm, link your party, and be ready to go at 7:00 AM sharp. Your future self — the one zipping past the 100-minute standby line for Rise of the Resistance — will thank you. There’s one snack that we believe is SEVERELY underrated in EPCOT. Caramel Butter Bar We’ve quite literally tried HUNDREDS of snacks in this park over the years, and yet, we keep coming back to one of our favorite spots — Karamell-Kuche in the Germany Pavilion. This store is home to treats made from delicious Werther’s Caramel, and while you may reach for the caramels themselves, the caramel corn, or the caramel apples, we’re here to tell you the Caramel Butter Bar is where it’s AT. This snack has been around for several years now, and it is ooey-gooey deliciousness with caramel and buttery shortbread. It’s perfect for when you want a little something to soothe that sweet toooth but you don’t want to fill up on snacks before your dinner reservation. Some things are just irresistible…. It has just the right amount of stickiness without being overly messy (unlike some other treats from Karamell-Kuche). That shortbread is soft, and you really get the light buttery flavor in every bite. One of the best things about this treat is that you can get it in several seasonal varieties throughout the year. We’ve tried the Pumpkin Butter Bar, which was rich, warm, and perfect for the fall season (and pumpkin spice lovers!). Get ready to dive in! There was also a fall version called the Caramel Apple Butter Bar. This one resembled an apple pie with more of a crumble-like topping. It was fun to have that variety in texture! Caramel Apple Butter Bar And in the springtime, Disney once released a Strawberry Caramel Butter Bar! This was a departure from the usual flavor palette, as more of a bright, fruity option. It had some of that same crumble-like topping as the caramel apple version. Strawberry Caramel Butter Bar And even if you’re not in EPCOT, you can sometimes find the Caramel Butter Bar (and its seasonal varieties) at other sweets shops around Disney World. Be sure to check in Goofy’s Candy Co. and Disney’s Candy Cauldron at Disney Springs, Main Street Confectionery and Big Top Treats in Magic Kingdom, and Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Animal Kingdom. Goofy’s Candy. Co. So the next time you’re in Disney World (and especially EPCOT), be on the lookout for this snack! It’s one of our faves. Stay tuned to DFB for more snack reviews from Disney World! It will still slide around with just a slight push of your fingers. It does tend to get a little hot, and with it getting hot, it’s one you want to use while you’re not going to need your phone for a bit. You’ll need to keep in mind that once the magnetic charger is done, it needs to be recharged before it’s of any further use to you. So you may be carrying around more than one charger if you’re planning a long day. This definitely made our Disney trip easier, and we would bring it time and time again! It’s available for 30% off. There’s just something about the prospect of enjoying an all-you-can-eat buffet prepared by one of the cutest chefs we’ve ever seen that keeps drawing us back to this one particular restaurant. While admittedly we’ve not had the best experiences dining here lately, they just don’t seem to be enough to keep us completely away just yet. Was this latest visit to a divisive Disney World character meal enough to redeem its reputation? Let’s find out! Chef Mickey’s We recently stopped by Chef Mickey’s for breakfast at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere This entire restaurant embodies the whimsical fantasy of a character-filled, all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast buffet at one of Disney World’s closest hotels to the Magic Kingdom. Here you’ll be treated to a wide variety of buffet breakfast eats and sips enjoyed by all ages. Time to eat! Once you make your way past the host stand, you’ll be escorted to your seat, where your server will come to greet you at either your table or booth. Different types of seating Just be prepared to get up and dance with some of the most famous Disney characters here, as you’ll see Chef Mickey… Chef Mickey! …Minnie… Hey Minnie! …Pluto… We love Pluto! …Goofy… Goofy! …and Donald. Hi Donald! There’s even an included area for a quick photo op to remember your dining experience. Photo op! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu There’s no sugar-coating it, meals here, no matter when you’re dining, are expensive. Breakfast for adults here will cost you $58, and children ages 3-9 will cost you $37. The menu will list an abbreviated version of buffet offerings like biscuits and gravy, carved meats, eggs both scrambled and omelet, waffles, French toast, cheese board and charcuterie, as well as kids’ favorites. ©Disney If you’re looking for creative drinks, you’re in luck here! There are several non-alcoholic specialty offerings to choose from… ©Disney …along with cocktails (and a few are even zero-proof)! ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we were served the iconic POG Juice, which was included with our buffet price (as well as select teas and coffee). This drink is made of pineapple, orange, and guava juice and has become a staple in recent years to snag at select restaurants for breakfast. It was fruity, delicious, and balanced between the three flavors, but it’s certainly one that you might find is sweet enough to tolerate only a few glasses at a sitting. POG Juice The cinnamon rolls were from the dessert bar area. They’re warm and gooey and probably were one of the best things we ate from the menu. They were also soft and covered in a sweet cream cheese icing mixed with a drizzle of caramel — honestly, it was the highlight of our meal here! Amazing Cinnamon Rolls! We also got the steak and egg scramble. The steak was cooked well, but it was very tough and hard to chew, and the eggs were fluffy but bland and didn’t have much flavor to help out the rest of the plate. Our full plate — is this worth the hefty cost? The Croissant Beignets were light and fluffy on the inside layers and had that dusting of cinnamon sugar on the outside of them, and we were very impressed with them. There are also several fruit sauces that are offered in accompaniment to them, and we would have loved to have had more time to try them! Croissant Beignets We also picked up the Turtle French Toast, which is regular French toast with a few crushed nuts and chocolate sauce to throw on it to consider it “turtle” style. But that’s where the impression with this offering stopped. The French toast was very dense and hard to cut through, but the flavor from the cinnamon sugar and basic chocolate sauce was mild and fine. It wasn’t anything super impressive, and we probably wouldn’t get it again. Turtle French Toast We also picked up a few Deviled Eggs, which admittedly were a bit on the mild side because it’s to be enjoyed by different taste palates. We really enjoyed these even with their muted flavor profile, and it was a nice contrast to all of the sweet things we’d enjoyed from the buffet so far. Deviled Eggs The Cheesy Potatoes we picked up from the kids’ section of the buffet — and they were just as good and cheesy as you might be imagining right now. They’re essentially hashbrowns filled with cheese, but not enough to give that satisfying pull. If you enjoy a gravy, creamy, cheesy hashbrown casserole, this would be one offering you don’t want to miss here! Cheesy Potatoes We also picked up a special drink here! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Pomegranate Lemonade for $6.25. This one is fairly self-explanatory in the name, but it tastes just like regular pink lemonade to us. Pomegranate Lemonade It had that tangy, strong pink lemonade flavor to it, and the pomegranate was very subtle but only lent to the sour notes in the drink. We enjoyed it, but we’re not sure if we’d get it again unless we were really in the mood for lemonade. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… If you’re totally into nostalgia! This place is oozing nostalgic vibes, and if you’re looking to feel like you’ve stepped back in time, you’d really enjoy dining here. You’re really into dining with the Fab 5 Disney characters! Here to see the Fab 5 characters in their chef outfits? Look no further. You’ve always wanted to dine here and haven’t ever had the chance before. If you’ve always wanted to dine here and just haven’t had the time before, we’re big supporters of following that dream to check it off your list. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re looking for a worthwhile character dining experience. Our last few reviews seem to be an echo of the same experience over and over again, and we’d recommend other character dining meals over this one. Garden Grill is another place where you can meet Mickey, which really has great food! Topolino’s Terrace is an amazing option as well. You’re already shuddering at the cost. If you’re already having a hard time justifying the cost of the buffet meal to see characters you’ll likely meet in the parks, then I don’t think the buffet food alone will be enough to sway your vote. If you’re looking for rarer characters, maybe choose Artist’s Point instead. You’re not looking to be rushed out of your meal. Overall, it seems the Cast Members here are looking to keep this experience down to around an hour. If you’re a slow eater or have kids dining with you who might be slower, this could lead to a frustrating meal, setting the tone for the day ahead. They aren’t going to kick you out or anything, but this is such a high-traffic spot that they are moving fast. Overall We were really hoping this latest review of this restaurant would sway our ever-growing opinion of this place, but alas, it just worked to reaffirm our recent change of heart. Whether that be the rowdy tables that neighbored ours, or feeling as if we were rushed through our entire meal, it’s just not made for a gratifying, enjoyable experience. It’s just so chaotic in here This time, seating for the restaurant felt different than what we’d experienced in the past. It quickly became apparent that we were herded into sections to be seated based on placement around the dining room, and shortly after we were seated, the characters came over to the section. Unfortunately, we weren’t advised when we were seated how soon the characters would be coming around closer to our table, so we played a dangerous game of “will they, won’t they” while trying to field trips to the buffet for food in between table visits from Disney pals. This ultimately led to us missing a few characters on their first pass by our section, and it seemed a bit chaotic to have them brought back over to say hello. It made the experience feel stressful since seeing the characters is the main pull of dining here. We were grateful they came around again, but it was a little wild! If seeing these characters here is a huge factor in deciding if this meal is worth it to you or not, it’s worth asking the Cast Members when you’re seated how soon you can expect to start seeing characters at your table, and using your best judgment. Our experience led us to a shortened visit from a few of the characters that initially missed us, and our check was brought out as soon as we had experiences with all 5 characters. Overall, we’ve had much better experiences with similar characters at other breakfasts around Disney World. Coupled with the hefty price tag, it’s just not one we’re looking forward to repeating again soon. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. There are quite a few closures in Disney World that you will want to know about if you are heading to the most magical place on Earth soon! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin We don’t want you to be caught off guard by the fact that your favorite attraction, area, or restaurant is currently under refurbishment or closed for good, so we are rounding up everything that is closed in Disney World this week. Let’s take a look at the attractions and locations that will be closed this week, from September 13th through September 20th, at Disney World. EPCOT Spaceship Earth Spaceship Earth has been closed for routine refurbishment since August 25th, 2025. While it will only be a temporary closure as the attraction is expected to reopen later this year, it will still be a few months or so without Spaceship Earth. Spaceship Earth We aren’t expecting any major changes to the attraction, just general maintenance and routine work. During this time, the Project Tomorrow: Inventing the Wonders of the Future exhibit will be closed, as well. It is definitely going to be sad experiencing the start of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival without being able to ride Spaceship Earth, though. 4 NEW World Showcase Additions Just Arrived at EPCOT Magic Kingdom Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin A popular Tomorrowland attraction is now closed! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has closed for refurbishment as of August 4th, 2025, and isn’t expected to reopen until 2026. While the ride is closed, it will be getting some upgrades! It’s closed! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be getting a new ride scene, new ride vehicles, a new character, and enhanced gameplay elements. Some of those gameplay elements include handheld blasters (soon you can shoot whenever you want!) and reactive targets. We recently got the chance to take a look at the new ride vehicle and test out the new blasters, and we have to say we were impressed! Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island, are closed for good to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak National Park. There are some construction walls up in the area now, and we have seen workers on Tom Sawyer Island. The river has also started to be drained! Rivers of America Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of Magic Kingdom, and construction is expected to begin in the area this year. Disney has not yet released an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know that it will feature two brand-new attractions and will be themed to look like a National Park. NEW LOOK at the Ride Changes Coming to TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Recently, Disney announced some of the new magic! Riders will see “spectacular natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites (the ones on the floor) and stalactites (the ones on the ceiling)” — the Rainbow Caverns! We can’t wait to see what other changes might be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! We have spotted some ride testing happening, which was very exciting, and a train car has arrived! It was still covered in a tarp, but it was exciting to see. Tortuga Tavern Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we saw it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! You Need To Know THIS Reservation Change Before Going To Magic Kingdom’s The Beak and Barrel Disney’s Animal Kingdom TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, Fossil Fun Games, and The Boneyard The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The Boneyard will be permanently closed on September 2nd. DinoLand U.S.A. Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and the snack stands are still open, but Disney recently announced the rest of DinoLand, U.S.A. will be closing for good on February 2nd, 2026. It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom once invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. While the show didn’t usually make it to the top of favorite attractions in Disney World, it has now closed to make way for a new show. It’s Tough to be a Bug! It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed on March 17th to make way for a brand-new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, expected to debut on November 7th, 2025. The show begins when you arrive at the main stage just in time for Zoogether Day festivities, where you’ll spot some new and familiar faces, including Heidi Howler, a wolf who hosts the Zoogether Day LIVE! broadcast. The Retro Animal Kingdom Shirt from Amazon Everyone Will Be Wearing to Disney World Disney’s Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard, including Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Muppet*Vision 3D AND PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off so construction can begin on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th. Muppets Courtyard behind walls Don’t worry, the Muppets won’t be missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever. The Muppets will eventually be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026. This Is the Best Seat in the House at the NEW Disney’s Hollywood Studios Attraction Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach has been closed since September 8th, 2025! While it has been wonderful having BOTH Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon open at the same time this summer (which was the first time this has happened in YEARS), that has now come to an end. Blizzard Beach is now closed for refurbishment. Blizzard Beach Have no fear, though, if you are looking for somewhere to cool off and enjoy some fun in the water, Typhoon Lagoon will still be open! Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf If you are planning on playing some miniature golf during your Disney World trip, you have some options. You can head over to Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Gold or Winter Summerland Miniature. However, if you are headed over to Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf, one of the courses will be closed for refurbishment. Fantasia Mini Golf Course From September 9th to November 7th, 2025, the Fantasia Fairways Miniature Golf course will be undergoing refurbishment. While it is closed, the Fantasia Gardens course will remain open, but guests won’t be able to reserve tee times (guests will tee off on a first-come, first-served basis). That still leaves you three courses to explore between the one at Fantasia Gardens & Fairways and the two courses at Winter Summerland! Disney World Hotels Fantasia Kiddie Pool — Disney’s All-Star Movies The Fantasia kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort has been closed for maintenance since September 8th. The pool is expected to be closed through late October, but Disney hasn’t announced a specific reopening date yet. All-Star Movies While the Fantasia kiddie pool is closed, the Fantasia Feature Pool and Duck Pond Pool will remain open, and guests staying at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort are welcome to use the kiddie pools at Disney’s All-Star Music and Disney’s All-Star Sports. The Samawati Springs Pool Slide — Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Starting on September 8th, the Samawati Springs Pool Slide will be closing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village for routine maintenance. Disney hasn’t announced a date for when the slide will reopen. Samawati Springs Pool If you’re staying at the resort, there will still be another water slide option for you to enjoy at the Uzima Springs Pool! ONLY the slide at The Samawati Springs Pool will be closed; you can still use the pool, just not the slide. You just may see or hear construction at work. Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls However, this isn’t the end for Jellyrolls, as the bar has said they are “making a move.” We don’t know many details about that move yet, but we will keep you updated. If you’re going to Disney World during this spooky season, we’re begging you: stop skipping this spot in Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom An underrated Magic Kingdom shop just got a new Halloween merchandise experience, and we’re telling you that you can’t miss it! Yes, we said “merchandise experience” because this is more than just a regular gift shop souvenir. Prepare to be AMAZED! If you love shiny, dazzling, and gorgeous pieces, you’ve probably been to Crystal Arts on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom! It’s filled with so many beautiful (some very expensive) Disney pieces that are pizzazzed to the max. Now, the Crystal Arts Tiara Foundry has Halloween tiaras to build! OOHHH! Crystal Arts tiaras! The tiaras are $99 each, and there are three tiara colors to choose from. This includes black, silver, and purple. These are a limited-edition Halloween item, with only 500 of each design. Look at the tiaras! Also, we noticed something different from other tiara building experiences! Check out the ribbons — you can add these to your tiara for even MORE magic. Choose up to three colors for each side, and the price is now $9 total for a set of two. Thank you, Disney! Look at the ribbons! Let’s take a close-up look at some of the tiaras at Crystal Arts. Remember, these are example crowns; you can go and design your own. Take a look at this black Halloween tiara! The bats feel very Haunted Mansion-like, while the overall design gives us a Maleficent vibe. This crown features green, orange, and purple jewels — and they really pop on the darker crown. Black Halloween tiara We love the shade of purple that was chosen for this tiara. We can already picture rocking this at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! This has the same bats on the top, and the jewels were a darker purple, with a red one in the center. Purple Halloween tiara There was also this traditional silver Halloween tiara. It has that more common tiara look with a spooky twist to it. The tiara features bats, red jewels, yellow jewels, and a white jewel. You’ll also see on this tiara that there are orange and black ribbons. You can add ribbons to whichever tiara you choose to design! Silver Halloween tiara with ribbons This experience is not only available at Magic Kingdom, but you can also do this at Disney Springs (while supplies last). With all tiaras, you can choose your three circle gems, and then one small and one large to finish it off. We love these! Make sure to head over to Crystal Arts to try this experience out before the tiaras sell out! Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Don’t mind us, just hopping on a spontaneous flight to Disney World RIGHT NOW! Halloween in Magic Kingdom Fall is one of our favorite times of the year in Disney World. There are the many delicious menu additions at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, the spooky season fun of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and new seasonal offerings all around the resort. And now, we have yet another reason that we absolutely NEED to teleport to Disney World immediately! Even if we’re solidly in fall mode ourselves, the weather in Disney World doesn’t always agree with us. It’s not uncommon to see high temperatures and humidity even after autumn officially arrives in mid-September. That’s why we’re always sure to check the forecast right before we leave for a Disney World trip, especially in September and October, instead of just assuming we can expect cooler fall weather. Magic Kingdom Halloween Decorations Planning a September trip to Disney World can be a roll of the dice as far as weather goes. But if you’re heading to the Most Magical Place on Earth this weekend, we’ve got some great news for you! New decorations! The first cold front of the season is expected to arrive in Florida this weekend, and some areas may wake up to temperatures in the 60s, along with lower humidity, according to Click Orlando News. Spaceship Earth While the morning temperatures are expected to be cooler, the afternoon high temperatures are unlikely to see major changes (current forecasted highs for this weekend are in the low to mid-80s). With that in mind, be sure to opt for layers if it feels chilly when you start your park day, so you can adjust as needed as the temperature rises throughout the day. ©Click Orlando And, when we say we need to get on a plane to Disney World RIGHT NOW, we mean it, because this cold front isn’t expected to last for long. Higher humidity is expected to return early next week, along with high temperatures in the mid to high 80s. Hollywood Studios We’ll keep our fingers crossed for more fall weather to make its way back to Disney World soon! Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates about all things Disney! In recent years, the EPCOT International Gateway entrance has experienced a surge in usage, thanks to the introduction of the Skyliner, which has led many to discover and take advantage of this secondary entrance located near the World Showcase’s France Pavilion. International Gateway Friendship Boat I’ve been visiting EPCOT for 30 years, and for the vast majority of that time, the International Gateway between the France and United Kingdom pavilions in World Showcase has been available to EPCOT guests. First opened in the early 1990s, the secondary entrance was initially meant for guests staying in the EPCOT Resort Area (Yacht & Beach Clubs, Swan & Dolphin, and later the Boardwalk) as well as the then MGM-Studios theme park, each of which is linked to the Gateway via walking paths and Friendship boats. As mentioned above, use of the entrance increased drastically with the opening of the Skyliner gondola system in 2019. Early Arrival In recent years, many guests — even those not staying at the EPCOT resorts or on the Skyliner line (Art of Animation/Pop Century, Caribbean Beach Resort, the Riviera Resort) — will enter the park through the International Gateway and begin their EPCOT day in France, especially hotel guests taking advantage of Early Entry offerings. Chefs de France These guests will often plan to rope drop the immensely popular Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, which is located near the International Gateway entrance, giving them an advantage over those entering through the park’s front entrance. These guests may also be heading to early breakfast reservations in the French Pavilion. This can lead to this pavilion being rather overcrowded first thing in the morning, to the point that it may be losing some of its initial charm. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure rider entrance Skyliner Shortcut Guests heading into EPCOT aren’t the only ones taking advantage of the International Gateway. Despite not technically staying on the Skyliner line, guests staying at the EPCOT resort area hotels — especially the Boardwalk — can head over to the International Gateway and jump on the Skyliner to head to Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios Skyliner station Character Appearances The International Gateway is home to — sometimes unannounced, sometimes listed on the My Disney Experience app — meet & greets with Disney characters, including Daisy Duck, Pluto, and others. Generally, these meet & greets have shorter waits than some of the other scheduled character interactions at the park. Hey, Pluto! Keep your eyes peeled because these characters sometimes seem a bit hidden in the International Gateway! Last Minute Drinks For those leaving the park through the International Gateway, the area has become a popular spot to finish their final drinks of the day. Since alcoholic beverages can’t be taken outside of the park, guests will often spend some time on the benches and standing areas near the Gateway completing their drinking around the world journey before leaving. This can sometimes lead to a crowded, somewhat hectic environment around the exit, especially as the park moves closer to closing. Exiting EPCOT As more guests each year utilize the Walt Disney World Skyliner, usage of the International Gateway and the perceived perks said usage grants will continue to grow. Oh, Disney World snacks. You’re so enticing and leave us struggling with an impossible decision: do we try something new on our next visit, or stick to our tried-and-true favorites every trip (and when I’m NOT there, I crave everything I see online). Halloween Mickey Cinnamon Roll Some of the most classic snacks out there are the Mickey-shaped snacks, and we’re suckers for them just like everyone else. However, there’s a special place in our hearts for those iconic Mickey Cinnamon Rolls, and they just hit the menus in ANOTHER spot in EPCOT…but believe it or not, we don’t recommend buying this treat. Now, at Sunshine Seasons, located in The Land Pavilion in EPCOT, you can grab a Mickey Cinnamon Roll. This treat is not totally new — the snack can be found at Starbucks locations all over the park, but now this is just a new spot to snag it in EPCOT. ©Disney But here’s the thing. We highly advise NOT getting this classic snack. Why? Well, because as much as we love the size and presentation, these cinnamon rolls are often rather, well, dry and not worth the high cost. Instead, we’ve got a few other suggestions for a BETTER cinnamon roll in EPCOT, starting with the Cinnamon Roll at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Norway! It’s soft, sweet, fresh, and big enough to share — we can’t get enough! Mickey Cinnamon Roll from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe If you’re craving something sweet but don’t exactly want a cinnamon roll, don’t miss the delicious treats at Karamell-Küche in the Germany Pavilion! We’re rarely disappointed by any of the treats here. They all taste fresh, there’s a wide variety to choose from, and the smell coming from this building is just heavenly. Be Our Guest Restaurant is one of Disney World’s most famous restaurants, and one of the most coveted dining reservations in Magic Kingdom. We hope this becomes a permanent But over the years, this restaurant has had a tumultuous reputation. Some love it for the incredible theme and decor. Some hate it for the high prices and mediocre food. But if you’re planning a visit for your next trip, we’re here to give you a lowdown on the menu — the good, the bad, and the hidden gem. The BEST Thing Let’s start out strong here. In our opinion, the best thing on the menu at Be Our Guest right now is the Steak Frites. We had these for the first time when they were a seasonal offering a while back, and WOW, they blew us away. Steak Frites This is slow-roasted Butcher’s Steak served with house-cut French fries and red wine sauce. The meat was incredibly tender and cooked to a delicious medium-rare. The chef’s goal here is for the steak to be so juicy and for that red wine sauce to be so perfect that you don’t need dipping sauce for your fries. Steak Frites And the salad served on the side? Light and refreshing to go with a heavier dish. We would order this again and again! See Our Review of Be Our Guest Restaurant When We Tried the Steak Here! The WORST Thing In 2025, some major menu changes hit Be Our Guest Restaurant, and from that list, we got the “worst” item — the Crème Brûlée Tart. This is made with orange custard, passion fruit meringue, and chantilly cream, and we were mainly upset with it because it replaced the old dessert trio! Crème Brûlée Tart The tart also didn’t really impress us. It’s not a traditional Crème Brûlée; it’s VERY heavy on the orange flavor. It would probably be a better crowd-pleaser if it were more in line with the traditional flavors. Crème Brûlée Tart Previously, Be Our Guest served a dessert trio with a lemon macaron, a chocolate tart with The Grey Stuff inside, and a bonbon. That dessert setup seemed to be more fitting with the restaurant’s theme and provided more variety than this one does. Check Out Our Review of BOTH New Desserts Here! The Hidden Gem And finally, we’ve got a hidden gem to share in the form of the new Blue Crab Bisque Soup! This dish replaced the Potato and Leek Soup on the menu, and it’s finished with brandy, crème fraîche, and chive oil. You even get a lump of blue crab in the middle! Blue Crab Bisque It was thick, creamy, and had a great level of brininess for a seafood dish. We were shockingly impressed by this one — it really caught us off guard! Blue Crab Bisque Soup So that’s our thoughts on Be Our Guest Restaurant. If you’re going to visit this iconic restaurant, you’ve got to know the right things to order! Know what makes us giggle? What puts a smile on our face? Well, leave it to Disney to create the perfect popcorn bucket for an instant mood boost. During our visit to Disneyland Resort, we made a new friend. Meet our new Disney popcorn bucket! He’s finally here! The Halloween season brings a LOT of festive fun to Disneyland. We love trying all the fall and Halloween snacks around the resort, and can’t stop ourselves from checking out the super cute merchandise Disney releases for the season. And now, this might be one of our new FAVORITE parts of fall — the Mickey Ghost Popcorn Bucket is FINALLY available! We spotted this adorable new refillable popcorn bucket in Disneyland, and you can also find it in Disney California Adventure. You’ll spot it at various popcorn carts around the park, as well as some quick-service locations (check the My Disney Experience app!). The Mickey Ghost Popcorn Bucket will cost you $36.99 at these locations. Mickey Ghost Popcorn Bucket The whole bucket is a ghostly white color, shaped like a Mickey ghost, of course, with a classic Mickey ear hat on top. He’s complete with the CUTEST facial expression, and the ghost holds a jack-o-lantern full of candies in front of him. You’ll load in the popcorn from the back, as the back of the ear hat says “Happy Halloween” and acts as the hatch. This is the hatch! We have a strong feeling that this one will sell out quickly, so grab it ASAP! If you’re located closer to Disney World, the bucket is set to be available in Disney Springs, but Disney has not shared an exact release date. Looking for more recent Disneyland news? Something stinkin’ adorable and SO MUCH FUN has arrived in the Japan Pavilion. Okay, we love him EPCOT’s Japan is filled with yummy cuisine and beautiful scenery, but above all else, it’s known for its incredible merchandise. The Mitsukoshi Department Store gift shop here is the only place you’ll find items themed to Pokémon or based on Nintendo games and characters, and it’s also a great spot to shop for some truly unique snacks. But now, one of the best souvenir options in the Japan Pavilion is actually located outside the gift shop. A little while ago, the Japan Pavilion surprised Disney fans by adding a station of vending machines selling gachapon. What is gachapon? They’re small capsule toys sold by Bandai that are popular in Japan. There, you’ll find vending machines like these around the country. In the Japan Pavilion The little kiosk is located beneath Katsura Grill on the ground level of the pavilion, and it has several different vending machines with dozens of toy options! Simply pick whichever one interests you and press your luck to get the toy you want. Mystery time! There are several different popular IPs available, as well as some without specific character themes. Seriously, it would take ages to collect them all! So many options The toys come unassembled, so you get the fun of building them yourself. We went for one of the Hello Kitty toys, and after we built it, discovered that it’s Cinnamoroll! They turn out really cute, and they’re a fun and unique souvenir to take home from your trip. Gotta assemble! We love that Disney’s offering this peek into Japanese culture, and we’ve seen lots of fans using the machines so far. Hopefully, we’ll see more cultural activities like these in the World Showcase pavilions in the future! Huge news coming out of Universal Orlando today, especially if you’re still mourning the loss of Poseidon’s Fury in the Lost Continent area of the park. The Lost Continent On September 12th, Universal confirmed that construction is coming soon to the Lost Continent area of the park, and based on a permit we just spotted, the park will be demolishing nearly FIVE ACRES of its land — could this mean the Lost Continent is about to look VERY different? According to the Orlando Business Journal, Director of Public Relations Kristen Smith said in an emailed statement to the news outlet that, “In the coming months, there will be construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments.” The Lost Continent The Lost Continent has been part of the park since its opening in 1999, but it’s currently only home to a full-service restaurant (Mythos), two quick-service eateries, and a few gift shops. The two other attractions in this land have been closed for many years. The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad was a stunt show that closed back in 2018, while Poseidon’s Fury was an interactive special effects show that closed in May 2023. Since then, this entire area has remained empty. Mythos Restaurant Now, based on the permit Universal filed on September 10th, the park is seeking to demolish 4.9 acres of “theme park site” in this area. While nothing has been exactly confirmed just yet, combining this permit with Universal’s statement, it seems that both of these former attractions will be demolished to make way for something new. ©Universal We’re looking forward to seeing what will replace these attractions, though we do still continue to miss them. We’re also curious to see if Mythos restaurant and the other shops and restaurants in the area will remain, or if they’ll be rethemed to fit the new area. More Recent Universal Orlando News! LET’S A-GO! Mario and Luigi! Universal and Illumination just dropped huge news about the Super Mario Bros. sequel. We just got the official title and release date of the new movie, and all we have to say about it is “YAHOO!” The sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie is now officially titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie! It’s hitting theatres sooner than you think, as it’s set to release on April 3rd, 2026, according to Variety. ©Illumination The brand-new animated movie takes its title from one of Nintendo’s most popular Mario games of all time, “Super Mario Galaxy,” which was released in 2007 on the Wii. ©Nintendo Nintendo is about to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original “Super Mario Bros.” game, which was released on September 13th, 1985. So, they announced the movie news during a Nintendo Direct. The Nintendo Direct started off with a teaser for the sequel, showing Mario sleeping under a tree with Princess Peach’s castle in the distance. The camera pans through the Mushroom Kingdom and up into space, which then reveals the title of the next movie. Behold! The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will see the return of the all-star voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. ©The Hollywood Reporter The Super Mario Bros. movie was released in April 2023 and was a massive box office success. It became the most successful video game adaptation of all time, and it wasn’t even close. The movie grossed $1.36 billion. Fun fact, it sits as the fifth-highest-grossing animated film ever! ©Nintendo Who knows what adventures they’ll embark on next in space? You know, it’s a shame that it took THIS long to finally get a Moana-themed restaurant in a Disney Park. ©Disney So we were super excited when Hong Kong Disneyland announced that it was opening a Moana-themed restaurant called Wayfinders’ Table on September 12th (yes, that’s NOW). Well, ever since this restaurant was announced, we’ve been (impatiently) waiting for Disney to reveal the menu, and y’all, OUR TIME HAS COME. Yes, we finally have the full menu for Wayfinders’ Table! Wayfinders’ Table is “designed to capture Moana’s adventurous spirit, is modeled after a bai or men’s house found in Belau, which is one of the great architectural traditions of Micronesia.” Bai are typically the core of their communities and are ceremonial centers, gathering places, reception halls, and more. Inside, the restaurant will have art related to Moana’s journey, like stars, birds, ocean swells, and more. ©Disney But let’s get to the good stuff. The restaurant will serve a “delicious Halal-certified, island-inspired menu that will make you want to journey beyond the reef.” And we now have a list of the food and drinks you’ll be able to order there: Food Beef Steak Mee Goreng with lemongrass, chili, hoisin sauce, lime, cabbage, bean sprouts, and sambal ©Disney Wayfinders’ Roasted Chicken Leg with Gramma’s Signature Rice and lime, ginger, fish sauce, basmati rice, almonds, and raisins ©Disney Malai Kofta and Lentil Masala with Gramma’s Signature Rice and cashew nuts, assorted vegetables, carrots, basmati rice, almonds, and raisins ©Disney Massaman Prawn Curry with Gramma’s Signature Rice and new potato, pineapple, peanuts, carrots, basmati rice, almonds, and raisins ©Disney Voyagers’ Chicken Naan Pizza with spinach, mango chutney, mozzarella, potato pops, wok-fried vegetables, cucumber yogurt, and a marshmallow cookie ©Disney Seafood Laksa Soup Noodle with shrimp, scallops, squid, rice noodles, crispy noodles, and a Mickey egg ©Disney Explore the Ocean – Banana Coconut Fritters with coconut custard, cinnamon sugar, and desiccated coconut Drinks Island Delights (Non-alcoholic) ©Disney Preserved Plum Pineapple Soda (Non-alcoholic) ©Disney We don’t know about you, but we’re ready to book a trip to Hong Kong!
