  1. One of my personal favorite Disney World Resorts is Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, you can visit the BoardWalk that has fun entertainment and plenty of food options. As a local, I grab food at the BoardWalk at least once a month (but usually more!). Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Unfortunately, there are a lot of changes going on right now that are leading to fewer options. While I’ll be there even if Trattoria al Forno is the only restaurant open, lots of guests might be skipping the BoardWalk starting in November. What exactly is happening there? First up, our beloved Jellyrolls closed earlier this year! This was a fun bar with dueling pianos playing some of the best music we’ve heard on Disney property. While Jellyrolls has promised to reopen somewhere else, we haven’t received any updates. Jellyrolls This building is a big space, and we’ve been wondering what is coming into the space. Because of the stage, it could turn into another bar with entertainment or some sort of themed dining dinner show like Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. We love Hoope-Dee-Doo, but with its location at the campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, it’s not the easiest location to access. EPCOT is next door to the BoardWalk, so your guests can walk right through the park to get here. Hoop Dee Doo Promenade Fine Art Gallery, also on the BoardWalk, is closing its doors on October 19th. No details have been announced where they are moving, or even if it was somewhere on Disney property, but this store was filled with gorgeous art that we loved to check out. It’s one of our stops we go to when we’re missing EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Maybe Disney is putting their own art store in? They have The Art of Disney at Disney Springs and the American Pavilion in EPCOT, so this could be coming to the BoardWalk as well. Maybe it could be a whole other store, too. The David Doss pop-up in American Adventure The resort’s main store, Screen Door General Store, just finished its recent renovations to update it, so it’s not like Disney isn’t putting love into the BoardWalk. Within the past few years, the Cake Bake Shop and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs have opened, too. Screen Door General Last year, Big River Grille & Brewing Works closed, and ever since, the building has remained empty. We’re assuming this will turn into another restaurant, since it’s uncommon for Disney to close a restaurant and then turn it into something else, but we haven’t received any details on this either. Big River Grille & Brewing Works We love the BoardWalk, but it always surprises us when stores and restaurants are closing and leaving us with empty buildings. Hopefully, Disney has master plans somewhere (which we all know they probably do), and they’ll tell us soon what’s coming into the space. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more. 2. While some people may think that the only dress code for a Walt Disney World meal involves mouse ears, that’s far from the truth. In fact, breaking some rules could get you kicked out before you even take a bite! Bar Disney World has always had dress code policies in place, but in 2025, there are some important rules guests need to be aware of. From what you can (and can’t) wear in the parks to the attire required for dining experiences, Disney has some guidelines that could impact your outfit choices. Let’s break down the dress code rules Disney is actively enforcing this year so you can plan accordingly! The Dress Code for the Parks Disney World’s official stance on theme park attire remains focused on comfort and family-friendly outfits. While there’s no need to dress up, there are specific rules you’ll want to follow to avoid being turned away at the gates. Crowds Disney states that “proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times.” This means you’ll want to stick with casual park-friendly outfits like shorts, jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, and sneakers or sandals. However, there are restrictions: No clothing with offensive language or graphics – This includes any inappropriate imagery or wording that Disney deems unsuitable for a family environment. No excessively torn clothing – While some distressing on jeans is fine, large rips or overly shredded outfits may not be permitted. No outfits that expose too much skin – Bathing suits and excessively revealing clothing are not allowed. No clothing that drags on the ground – This is a safety concern, and long, trailing skirts or dresses may be flagged. Objectionable tattoos must be covered – If you have a tattoo with inappropriate language or images, Disney may ask you to cover it up. Don’t break the rules, be a “roll model” instead. Additionally, layered clothing is subject to search upon entry, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to wear multiple pieces. Costumes are also not allowed for guests over the age of 14, except during special ticketed events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The Dress Code for Restaurants at the Parks and Resort Hotels Most restaurants throughout Disney World, whether inside the parks or at resort hotels, follow a casual dress code. This means whatever you wear while touring the parks is generally acceptable for dining as well. 50’s Prime Time Cafe Quick service spots and most table service restaurants don’t have specific attire requirements beyond the standard park dress code. You can show up in your shorts and Mickey ears without a problem. However, Disney does expect guests to maintain a neat and presentable appearance. So while you don’t need to dress up, overly sloppy or inappropriate outfits could still be an issue. The Dress Code for Signature Dining Restaurants at the Resort Hotels, Parks, and Disney Springs If you have reservations at one of Disney’s Signature Dining locations, be prepared to dress a step above your usual park outfit. These fine dining spots enforce a minimum dress code that requires a bit more effort than your typical t-shirt and shorts combo. California Grill Disney’s official guidelines for Signature Dining restaurants state: Men should wear khakis, slacks, or dress shorts with a collared shirt. Jeans are acceptable if they’re in good condition. Sport coats are optional but welcome. Women should wear capri pants, skirts, dresses, or dress shorts. Again, jeans are allowed as long as they’re not excessively ripped or distressed. Not permitted: tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, cut-off shorts, torn clothing, and t-shirts with offensive language or images. Signature Dining Locations Resort Hotels: California Grill (Contemporary Resort) Citricos (Grand Floridian Resort) Flying Fish (BoardWalk Inn) Il Mulino (Walt Disney World Swan Hotel) Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge) Narcoossee’s (Grand Floridian Resort) Shula’s Steakhouse (Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel) Todd English’s bluezoo (Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel) Topolino’s Terrace (Riviera Resort) Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club Resort) Jiko Theme Parks: Most Signature Dining restaurants located within the theme parks do not have a specific dress code beyond standard park touring attire, with two exceptions: Monsieur Paul (EPCOT) Requires Signature Dining dress code Takumi-Tei (EPCOT) Requires Signature Dining dress code Takumi-Tei The other Signature Dining spots such as Le Cellier Steakhouse (EPCOT), Tiffins (Animal Kingdom), The Hollywood Brown Derby (Hollywood Studios), and Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella’s Royal Table (Magic Kingdom) allow guests to wear their regular park attire. Disney Springs: The BOATHOUSE Jaleo Morimoto Asia Paddlefish STK Orlando The BOATHOUSE indoor seating While some guests choose to go all out with business casual or cocktail attire, most simply aim for a polished, put-together look. If you show up in park gear, you may be turned away or asked to change before being seated. Special Note: Victoria & Albert’s Has a Strict Dress Code If you’re planning to dine at Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, be aware that this restaurant has a much more formal dress code that is strictly enforced. Victoria & Albert’s Men must wear a dinner jacket with dress pants or slacks, and women are expected to wear elegant evening wear. Jeans, shorts, capri pants, sandals, flip-flops, and sneakers are not allowed under any circumstances. Final Thoughts While Disney World keeps things fairly relaxed when it comes to attire, these dress code rules for 2025 are worth keeping in mind as you pack for your trip. 4. A man robbed Paddlefish, a Disney Springs restaurant, just after midnight on Monday, September 15th. Paddlefish Paddlefish is right along the water, and according to WFTV9, the man swam up in scuba gear and a wetsuit. He then swam away after stealing somewhere between $10,000-$20,000. Nobody was injured during the robbery, and the incident happened after the restaurant closed to guests for the night, based on the latest report from the sheriff’s office. Inside Paddlefish The report says the robber forced two employees to close their eyes in the corner of the room. Some reports say they were tied up, while others have not confirmed this detail. The employees stated that he left within two minutes, and they called 911 immediately. Paddlefish Levy Restaurants, the owner of Paddlefish, gave ClickOrlando a brief statement: “We have no comment; this is an active investigation.” The man has not been found by authorities yet. A photo was released before the man from a security camera, and the employees said that he was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. Paddlefish This is a breaking news story. We will update as more details are released. The post BREAKING: Man Robs Paddlefish in Disney Springs first appeared on the disney food blog. View the full article

  8. We’re big ice cream fans here at Disney Food Blog, and we’ve probably tried every flavor imaginable. ©Carnival Cruises Salt & Straw at Disney Springs has tested us with insane flavors like Fried Chicken Ice Cream, Deviled Egg Ice Cream, Spinach Cake with Chocolate Tahini Fudge, and Charred Corn Curd, Cotija & Tajin. Yep, we thought we tried them all, but we just found a flavor we’re not sure we’re willing to try. Sunscreen ice cream now exists. No, we’re not happy about it either. ©Carnival Cruises Carnival Cruise Line and Van Leeuwan ice cream company have worked together to create sunscreen ice cream to combat the “End-of-Summer Scaries” or “the bittersweet feeling when the season of sunshine and carefree moments winds down.” ©Carnival Cruises Currently, the ice cream isn’t available for purchase, but if enough people are interested in it, the flavor could be sold for a limited time. Some commenters on social media have said, “Not a want, but a need!” and “Amazing, give me 14 of them right now.” ©Carnival Cruises We’re not sure we’re on the bandwagon for sunscreen ice cream and wouldn’t be too upset if it doesn’t get made. Actor Jonathan Bennet got to try the flavor, which he said tasted like coconut. He also said, “It does taste like sunscreen, but in a good way. It tastes like you’re eating vacation.” Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more food news! REVIEW: YOU REALLY CAN’T MESS UP THESE CLASSIC DISNEY WORLD TREATS DON'T DO IT ALONE! 9. There are LOTS of options for getting your DOLE Whip while you are at Disney World! Of course, there is always the classic and beloved Pineapple DOLE Whip that you can find across Disney World, and it is available in lots of variations. You can get Pineapple DOLE Whip in a float, on top of a pineapple upside-down cake, made with alcohol, and more. But the DOLE Whip possibilities don’t stop there, as there are also a variety of flavors you can try! Dole Whip Some of the flavor options you can find around Disney World include pineapple, strawberry, orange, lemon, vanilla, coconut, and more. We recently stopped by Disney’s Old Key West Resort to grab a delicious DOLE Whip treat, and we are bringing you our full review! Over at Good’s Food to Go at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, you will find the Key Lime Swirl. It is made with DOLE Whip Lime and Vanilla swirl and then topped with graham cracker crumbs. You can grab it for $5.79. This isn’t a new offering, but it is a bit hidden, so we wanted to make sure you knew about it! Key Lime Swirl You can also get just the lime or just the vanilla, but we think the swirl is where it is at! This tastes like a key lime pie in frozen form, and we think it is incredibly delicious. The lime soft serve has a great amount of lime flavor with a bit of tartness. However, it isn’t an overwhelming amount of tartness. When you combine it with the creamy vanilla, you get a sweet and creamy bite, with a great key lime flavor. Key Lime Swirl The graham cracker crumbles on top add a nice bit of texture, although the treat definitely isn’t loaded down with the crumbles. We do wish there was a bit more of the crumbles, but that is really our only complaint about this treat, and it is a very small complaint at that. These finish off the treat with the classic flavor of graham cracker, so you really do feel like you are eating a key lime pie in soft serve form. You get a lot of soft serve, and we think this treat is worth every penny — especially if you like key lime pie. 10. We love Disney Cruise Line. It’s like taking the magic of the theme parks right into a multiple-day adventure with fun characters, incredible entertainment, and we’re, obviously, huge fans of the food onboard, too. ©Royal Caribbean As much as we love Disney Parks, we’re also big fans of Universal Studios. Universal’s CEO just hinted at potentially creating a cruise line, and we’re trying not to freak out! According to the Orlando Business Journal, CEO Mark Woodbury mentioned cruising during the Bank of America Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference. He was asked about a potential new venture, including cruise ships. Battle at the Ministry “We’re always looking at every near-, mid-, and long-term opportunity to drive the business. We take a very hard look at each different industry that may be adjacent to us, where we can form another engine to drive our business. So, pay close attention to all those ancillary industries we could potentially tap into in the future, but nothing new today,” said Woodbury. Donkey Kong In an interview with the Orlando Business Journal, Dennis Spiegel, CEO of International Theme Park Services, told them that Universal’s catalog of intellectual properties could “translate into immersive onboard experiences, similar to Disney Cruise Line’s themed restaurants and attractions.” Back to the Future Can you imagine a Universal cruise line? I would imagine that the minions would take over the food court with their bright yellow chaos, similar to Illumination’s Minion Cafe. Minions Cafe Maybe the onboard shows could be for properties like Back to the Future or Jurassic Park! Knowing that they already use incredible dinosaur puppets in the theme parks, I can only imagine how cool it would be on stage. Raptor Encounter at Universal Studios Hollywood I think it would be neat if the pool areas were Jaws themed! Okay, maybe that’s a bad idea, but maybe there can be a pink and green pool to reference Wicked. Elphaba and Glinda meet and greet There are endless possibilities for a Universal cruise, and we hope the Universal Destinations & Experiences team is considering and planning out a cruise line. 14. Ah, the magic of Disney World at Christmastime. Main Street, U.S.A. has snow fluttering down as lights are twinkling all around. You won’t miss the massive Christmas tree right in front of Magic Kingdom, and everything feels 10x more special than it normally does. Magic Kingdom To make the most of the magic, you need to plan early so you know where to stay, what to eat, and how to spend your time. 2025 Christmas is only three months away, but really, you should already be looking forward to 2026. Why do we need to plan so early? Let’s talk about it! From the beginning of November, Disney World is filled with candy canes, more Christmas trees than you know existed, and an insane amount of hot chocolate. It runs till about the beginning of January, but if you want to make sure you get a complete and full experience, you should plan to visit after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. Seal Merry Menagerie puppet at Animal Kingdom As you could imagine, the holiday time in Disney World is BUSY. Lots of people want to come and make family memories and experience Christmas in either a different and more special way than they’re used to, or like they do every year, and continue the tradition. Because so many people are coming, you’ll want to be completely planned and prepared so you don’t get distracted by the people the minute you scan into Magic Kingdom. Crowds ready to see the parade! It can be overwhelming to try to get everything done because there are a lot of limited-time activities. Massive lists come out with specialty food, and there will be certain events and experiences, like meeting Santa Claus and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, that you won’t want to miss. Planning early allows you to have your priorities set! Santa! EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS AT DISNEY WORLD We like to look at activities from the year prior (or the one coming up!) and see what experiences we want to try again or for the first time. Maybe you read so much about Jollywood Nights that you’re choosing that over Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, or you missed the holiday overlay at the Jungle Cruise, where it turns into the Jingle Cruise, and you aren’t willing to miss it again. We love to plan early so we know what’s making the list. Holiday theming After you have your list, you can figure out how long your trip will be. Are you going to visit all four parks? Maybe you’ll want to skip your family’s least favorite park and spend a day going through all the decorations at the resorts instead. Maybe you’ll want to go to Magic Kingdom three times because you know it’s your family’s favorite. You’ll also have to ask for time off from work, make sure your kid’s school schedules align, and if you’re inviting extended family, the more time you can tell them, the better. Gertie the Dinosaur at Disney’s Hollywood Studios When planning how many days you’ll visit, you can then pick the best resort. Disney World Resorts during the holidays fill up fast (no, really, don’t underestimate how early you should book your hotel), so the earlier the better. Some resorts are known for their Christmas decorations, like Animal Kingdom Lodge with huge animals made of gingerbread, or Beach Club Resort, which has a moving carousel made of gingerbread. Carousel horse inspired by the Mexico Pavilion THE BEST HOTELS FOR CHRISTMAS AT DISNEY WORLD For decorations at resorts, we have to mention Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This resort has a massive tree and a HUGE gingerbread house where you can try different sweets like gingerbread shingles that look like they’re from the house. 2024 Gingerbread House This year, there is construction happening in the lobby at the Grand Floridian, so the giant gingerbread house is skipping 2025! Because of this, we’re expecting a resort like the Grand Floridian to be even more popular than usual next year, so if this is your dream resort, you’ll really want to book early. Grand Floridian tree and gingerbread house All of this sounds magical, but you can’t forget the pricetag that goes along with it. Ticket prices, resort costs, and Lightning Lanes are generally more expensive during the holiday season due to the demand, and the further out you book, the longer you can save up and pay for it. EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays! There are also cots, such as after-hours events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights, which are not included with park tickets. Our favorite part is the food, of course, and trust us, all those snacks add up quick. Once you see all the pictures and reviews, you’ll be wishing you budgeted a little extra for a new cookie you can’t live without. 15. Universal Orlando has confirmed that contruction work moving forward in the Lost Continent area of its Islands of Adventure theme park. Details about what might go there and in what specific timeframe remain unrevealed. “In the coming months, there will be construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments” is the official stance from the company. A demolition permit has been filed with the city of Orlando. Lost Continent is one of the original lands of IOA, which opened in 1999. Two of its primary attractions were “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad,” a stunt and stage show that closed in 2018, and Poseidon’s Fury, a walk-through experience with special effects, which closed in 2023. Both structures currently remain standing. In the beginning, Lost Continent also was the home of the Dueling Dragons roller coaster, which later was absorbed by the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Dewayne Bevil / Orlando Sentinel'The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad' was an original attraction at Islands of Adventure, which opened in 1999. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel) The land, sandwiched between Seuss Landing and Wizarding World, now includes a handful of merchandise stores; Fire-Eater’s Grill, a counter-service restaurant; and Mythos, a full-service restaurant that looks over the park’s central lagoon. The most recent Islands of Adventure additions include a pair of roller coasters: Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in Wizarding World, which opened in 2019 and Jurassic World VelociCoaster, which debuted in 2021. 16. This fall marks the first-ever season of Halloween on the High Seas sailings aboard the Disney Treasure. Get ready for delightful tricks and treats that you have come to expect from a Halloween Disney cruise: Costume parties, spooky movies to set the mood, and of course, Disney characters decked out in their Halloween best. And get ready for an exclusive character that can only be found on the Disney Treasure. Meet Ginger, the one-of-a-kind, gourd-geous centerpiece in the Grand Hall. The Disney Treasure Pumpkin Tree Was Inspired by Genie Alight with glowing gourds, twinkling lights, and intricate carvings, Ginger sets the Halloween vibe for your Disney Treasure sailing. She’s a unique species of tree, hailing from the fictional city of Agrabah as seen in Disney’s Aladdin. Just as any magical pumpkin tree “grows” from a seedling to its great height, Ginger’s look and story evolved throughout the design process. The team had to figure out how to create enchanted foliage representative of the region of the world that inspired Aladdin’s hometown. Philip Kelley, Show Director for Disney Live Entertainment, told us all about Ginger’s roots. “She started out as sort of as a banyan tree, and then more of a traditional tree with banyan tree inspiration.” From there, Philip explained that the design of Ginger started to take shape. “The pumpkins elongated a little bit — they look like traditional pumpkins but have more of a look of the gourds that you may see in that region of the world.” You’ll Help Ginger Light Up the Disney Treasure During the first night of your sailing, don’t miss the opportunity to interact with Ginger as her story comes to life in The Tale of the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree. The Disney Treasure storytellers, Coriander and Sage are going to be quite surprised that a tree has suddenly sprouted in the Grand Hall. Listen as they tell the tale of Ginger and learn how the carvings on her gourds were inspired by the transformations of the one and only Genie. Philip told Disney Parks Blog, “With her design complete, Ginger’s story took a new turn. Halloween traditions are unfamiliar in her part of the world, so our storytellers, Coriander and Sage, introduce her to the fun of trick-or-treating. Together, they discover the joy of transformation and find that at this time of year, things aren’t always what they seem.” Join in the story to help Ginger understand our trick-or-treat traditions and something sweetly magical might just happen throughout the Grand Hall. After she’s lit, expect Ginger to glow throughout your cruise, adding that special touch of seasonal spirit with every visit to the Grand Hall. As the full moon gleams and witches fire up their brooms, pumpkin trees takes root each Halloween on every Disney Cruise Line ship. Pumpkin Trees on Disney Ships As the full moon gleams and witches fire up their brooms, pumpkin trees takes root each Halloween on every Disney Cruise Line ship. The Halloween trees each of the Disney ships are: Reap on the Disney Magic Bog on the Disney Wonder Grim on the Disney Dream Muckelbones on the Disney Fantasy Boo on the Disney Wish Ginger on the Disney Treasure The Haunted Trees Aboard Four Disney Ships The trees aboard the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy ships reflect a traditionally spooky tree one might expect along the dirt roads of Sleepy Hollow on a cold October night. Reap, Bog, Grim, and Muckelbones were inspired by the spirit of Ray Bradbury’s beloved story The Halloween Tree. Each tree is watched over by a mysterious caretaker, who shares chilling tales of Halloween traditions and legends as guests gather beneath their glowing canopy. As the ship sets sail, these once quiet, twisted trees burst into life—glowing Jack-O’-Lanterns flicker to life among the branches, eerie lights dance, and a deep, haunting voice fills the air. Boo, the Enchanted Tree on the Disney Wish A very special tree grows onboard the Disney Wish, one that was blessed by the Wishing Star to grow very special carved pumpkins. Boo’s enchanting visage watches over the Grand Hall and legend has it that one of her pumpkins even grew to become the pumpkin carriage that carried Cinderella to the ball. 17. Disney World has frequently revamped its hotel rooms at different resorts throughout the years to keep them fresh and relevant. Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort Some of these refurbishments have been well-received, like the Polynesian Village Resort room retheme to Moana, but others, like the Contemporary Resort room refurb to The Incredibles, are a bit more controversial. Now, the rooms at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort have been refurbished as well, and we got a look at the updated rooms to help you decide if you’d like to stay there on your next trip. Construction for these room refurbishments began in September 2024, and has always been scheduled to go through September 2025. In March of this year, we touched base with a Cast Member who told us that at that time that on the south side of the building, rooms 24 to 44 on floors 7 to 16 were all complete. However, now ALL the rooms have completed their refurbishment! Bay Lake Tower We got the chance to check out one of the newly refurbished rooms to see exactly what there is to offer and what has changed. Let’s give it a look! We toured a 2-Bedroom Villa, which sleeps nine people. As you enter the room, you’ll notice just how large and spacious the living area is — not to mention that theme park view! Two-bedroom villa There’s a full eat-in kitchen, complete with refrigerator, oven and stove, microwave, and dishwasher. Since this is a Disney Vacation Club room, it features additional amenities, including a decent-sized dining table for families to enjoy meals together. Even though it’s a DVC room, anyone can book this villa and Bay Lake Tower in general! Kitchen and dining area The living area features a small couch with an ottoman/coffee table and an armchair with retro vibes. It’s easy to see how the renovations from the main Contemporary hotel building have carried over into the theming of these rooms. We love the Mary Blair-inspired artwork. This is also where you’ll find an additional pull-down Murphy bed behind the couch. Seating area with additional pull-down bed Bedroom one has two queen beds, along with its own balcony. Bedroom one You’ll also find a seating area, desk, dresser, mirror, and television in this room, with its own bathroom. Seating area Bedroom two features a large, king-sized bed and its own balcony as well. There are nightstands with storage, plugs, and nightlights for you to use too. Bedroom two This bedroom also features a seating area with a chair and a dresser, along with a television. Check out that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad artwork! Seating area The main living area also features a large television and another pull-down twin bed. This villa sleeps up to 9, so there are plenty of beds! Pull-down bed You’ll also find two spacious bathrooms. This one has a separate vanity area with sink, mirror, storage, and toiletries. Bathroom There’s a separate room with a shower/tub combo and toilet — and more Mary Blair-inspired art! Toilet and shower Here’s a view of the main living area from the balcony. It’s a pretty spacious room! 18. A new treat has arrived at Disney Springs! A new treat has arrived! We are always on the lookout for new food around Disney World, and today, we are headed to Pizza Ponte for a new dessert that supports a great cause. We are bringing you our thoughts about this new treat, so you can decide whether you need to make a stop by! Introducing the Cocoapizzie, a cookie and brownie mash-up made with rich dark chocolate. You can grab 2 cookies for $5.50. This new treat is also supporting a great cause; a portion from each Cocoapizzie sold will benefit Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. This organization is dedicated to funding vital research for pediatric cancer. The Cocoapizzie On first glance, it may not look like the most amazing dessert ever. But looks can be deceiving. How does it actually taste? We are happy to report it tastes a lot better than it looks. It is a lot like a brownie. The outside is crispy like the edges of a brownie, and the inside is gooey. It also has a bit of saltiness to the cookie. Cocoapizzie We liked that it wasn’t too dense, and the chocolate flavor was there without being overwhelming. Overall, we enjoyed this dessert a lot! It’s essentially a brownie in cookie form. Plus, it also supports a great cause, so it is a win-win. This treat will only be available for a limited time, though. Make sure to stop by in September to grab this special treat and support Cookies for Kids’ Cancer! Cocoapizzie While you are in Disney Springs grabbing the Cocoapizzie, you can also make a stop by Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew for another limited time treat supporting a great cause. During the month of September, you can grab an exclusive donut at Everglazed that supports ovarian cancer awareness. We had the chance to try a mini sampler of the donut, and it is bright and full of lemon flavor! 20. There are so many Disney World Resorts to choose from, it’s hard to know which ones are the best for you and your family. Animal Kingdom Lodge We have a lot of opinions are resorts since we’ve stayed at them all and keep track of new updates and changes to make sure they’re as great as we remember. There are three resorts right now that people are avoiding until the dust settles — literally. One resort people are avoiding is The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa because of the construction. The lobby is currently under refurbishment to bring in “Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.” There will also be updated furniture, carpets, and accents around the staircase and front desk. Construction They’re also adding a lobby bar, inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage. We’re excited to see all the details, like the colorful birds in the stained glass. ©Disney Because of all the construction, the lobby definitely feels a little different when you’re greeted with massive walls and noise. The iconic gingerbread house display will also not be returning in 2025, so families are holding off until the resort is back to normal. With the gingerbread display being canceled this year, we can expect 2026 to be even busier than normal, so waiting till 2027 might be the way to go. More and more Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is also having some construction done. Guest rooms at Kidani Village are going under refurbishment and are expected to open in May 2026. ©Disney After that, Jambo House will be getting its turn for a refurb! From May 2026 to January 2027, construction is going to be happening, so don’t be surprised if you hear some noises you normally don’t at the peaceful Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge The Zebra Trail Terrace is also having some work done, hopefully to be finished around mid-September 2025. That’s a lot of construction going on, and if you’re going to be spending the money to stay at either of these Deluxe Resorts, you’ll want to make sure it’s worth the price and you’re getting the most out of your trip. Maji Pool Bar There’s ANOTHER resort that has some work being done! At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, certain areas of the resort, including the villas and bungalows, are undergoing refurbishment until 2026. They even said, “Some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted.” Ah! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort If you’re staying at the Polynesian, trust us, you want that view! Waiting till 2027 assures you won’t hear any construction and get the gorgeous views of the Magic Kingdom and the water. 21. EPCOT is one of the most beautiful parks in Disney World, but there’s one rule that way too many guests still ignore. Spaceship Earth If you’ve ever wandered through World Showcase on a Saturday night, you probably already know what we’re about to say. The evenings can get absolutely packed, especially right now during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. That’s why Disney pros swear by this rule that can save you from an overcrowded, less-than-magical evening — and trust us, once you know it, you’ll never want to ignore it again. Not Visiting on Weekends (Especially Evenings) Here’s the new golden rule: if you’re visiting EPCOT during Food & Wine season, avoid weekends in World Showcase. The festival runs this year from August 28th through November 22nd, 2025, and during that stretch, Saturdays and Sundays turn World Showcase into a wall-to-wall crowd. 2025 Food and Wine Signs! While weekdays bring a steady but manageable flow of guests, weekends transform the promenade into shoulder-to-shoulder chaos. A lot of this has to do with local passholders who love to drop in for their festival favorites once the workweek is over. Add vacationers who planned their EPCOT day for Saturday or Sunday, and you’ve got a perfect recipe for long food booth lines, elbow-to-elbow walkways, and almost no breathing room. Yep, it’s crowded Evenings are the peak of that chaos. Once the sun dips and the lanterns come on, EPCOT becomes a prime hangout spot for people grabbing drinks, hopping from booth to booth, and staking out space for the nighttime fireworks. That might sound fun — and for some, it is — but if you’re hoping for a leisurely stroll with shorter waits at booths and better photo ops, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Crowds in EPCOT Instead, plan to hit World Showcase on a weekday afternoon. You’ll still get to enjoy the atmosphere, all the delicious eats, and those gorgeous views across the lagoon, but with far less stress. Why This Rule Matters Right Now Food & Wine Festival is easily one of the most popular events in all of Disney World, which is why this “rule” is more important than ever. With dozens of global marketplaces offering snacks, drinks, and desserts, everyone wants a bite of the action. On weekends, those must-try booths quickly rack up lines that can stretch pretty far into the pavilions. Greece Food and Wine Festival Booth Not only are you fighting bigger crowds, but you also risk missing out on the very dishes you came for. By visiting on a weekday, you’re more likely to find the full menu available and to get your food without an overwhelming wait. The Fireworks Factor And let’s not forget the nighttime show. On weekends during Food & Wine, the fireworks crowd can feel pretty tough to navigate. The walkways tighten, stroller parking fills to the brim, and every open space along the lagoon is claimed way before showtime. Luminous as seen from GEO-82 If catching fireworks is important to your trip, try to aim for a weekday evening. You’ll still need to arrive early for a good viewing spot, but it won’t feel as though the entire park is standing shoulder-to-shoulder around you. How to Work Around It If your only option is to visit on a weekend, don’t panic. You can still make it work, but you’ll need a strategy. Start your World Showcase day as early as possible, ideally right at 11AM when the booths open. This is when crowds are at their lowest, and you can knock out the most popular items before the evening rush. 2025 Food and Wine Festival Belgium Booth Another option is to save World Showcase for early in the week and use your Saturday for EPCOT’s rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Test Track. Those areas get busy, too, but the difference between weekday and weekend crowds is far less dramatic than what you’ll face in World Showcase during Food & Wine. The Bottom Line World Showcase is one of the most magical parts of Disney World, but that magic can feel lost if you’re stuck elbow-to-elbow with thousands of other guests. The simplest way to avoid that? During Food & Wine Festival season, follow the new golden rule: skip weekends, especially evenings, and save your World Showcase strolls for weekdays instead. 24. Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew is raising awareness for ovarian cancer this month. This Disney Springs restaurant kicked off its “Glazing Awareness” campaign, which includes an exclusive donut with proceeds going towards ovarian cancer research. Limited Time Donut at Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew has partnered with HOW, which stands for Hearing the Ovarian Whisper. This organization supports women with awareness, knowing what to ask their doctor, and financial resources so women can focus on getting better. From now until the end of September, you can stop by Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew to pick up a limited-time donut that supports HOW. We were invited to attend a special event to kick off the partnership and also taste the new donut. The event featured Louise Altese-Isidori, who is an ovarian cancer survivor who found out through testing rather than symptoms.
