Is there anything better than a Mickey-shaped snack? The Mickey Beignet We recently stopped by Disneyland Paris to check out the updates on the park’s expansion, taste some champagne on Main Street, and more. During our stop, we were craving something sweet and shaped like the mouse we love so much. That’s what led us to the Mickey Beignet from Cookie Kitchen! If you’re like us and expected a Mickey Beignet more like the ones from Scat Cat Club Cafe in Disney World, you aren’t alone. No, this Mickey Beignet from Cookie Kitchen was more akin to a donut with hazelnut filling for €4,5, which is roughly $5.30. The Cookie Kitchen! This treat was a popular one — it was honestly one of the longest lines we waited in during our time at the park! After trying it out, we can see why people enjoy it so much. Rows of donuts! Texturally, this treat was a bit heavier and more dense (like a donut) than we would expect from a light and airy beignet. While it was different than our expectations, that didn’t make it bad! The breading was fresh and slightly cakey, which we did enjoy. How they put the hazelnut inside! Our biggest complaint regarding this sweet was that we wanted more hazelnut filling! The spread was perfectly creamy and sweet. It felt more homemade rather than a mass-produced spread, and we loved that. The issue? There wasn’t much of it! The inside! The spread was more towards the bottom of the beignet, making the treat unbalanced. If it were spread more throughout the dessert, this would be close to perfect. It wasn’t overly sweet or sugary, but it was chocolately and familiar. It was also easily shareable thanks to its size. So tasty! We will daydream about this Mickey Beignet for a while. It was easily shareable, and honestly, it didn’t last long, which is the sign of a good Mickey-shaped treat. Considering some of the other bites in this park were underwhelming, this might be one of the best desserts we tried on the entire trip. Universal’s Epic Universe opened in May of this year, and we can’t stop talking abou it. There’s just so much to uncover and learn yet, and we’re bringing all the info straight to you as we do. From ride tips and tricks to the best food to the coolest experiences and more, we love talking about Epic Universe. Epic Universe For those unfamiliar with the park, it is comprised of five lands — Celestial Park, How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, Super Nintendo World, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic. Each land offers immersive experiences, rides, restaurants, and shops. As you walk through each portal into the lands, you’re transported into the worlds of these stories. And if you’re like us and never want to leave the park, we have some good news for you — you don’t have to leave right when the park closes! Epic Universe closes all of its portals around 9-10 PM, depending on when you’re visiting. At that time, if you’re in one of the lands (Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic), you’ll need to head back to Celestial Park, where the entrance/exit for the park is. All of the park’s rides stop running, shops close, and dining options are no longer available…well, mostly. Super Nintendo World portal Once you’re in Celestial Park, you actually don’t have to leave immediately! If your tired feet allow, you can actually stay in the park, within Celestial Park, for ONE MORE HOUR! The main shops AND many snack locations here stay open for an extra hour after the official park closing time. So if you’re not aching for your bed or your foot soak at this point, you can opt to stay a bit longer and get all that shopping done that you put off all day while you were riding the rides and seeing the shows. Other Worlds Mercantile This is really good news for night owls. If you want to focus on the rides, shows, and dining throughout the day, you can, and then spend the last hour of the night at the shops in Celestial Park getting your shopping done. This way, you don’t have to drag shopping bags around with you all day! Then head back to your hotel and collapse on your bed, knowing you accomplished some big-time theme park excitement. Celestial Park If you can hang, Epic Universe stays open until 9 or 10 PM each night, but you can stay in the park, in Celestial Park, up to an EXTRA HOUR. Don’t miss out on this extra time in the gorgeous land, enjoying the sights, shopping, and snacking. For more Epic Universe info, keep following DFB! Pop Century Resort is a great hotel for those looking to stay on property and save some money, because it’s one of the lowest-priced hotels you’ll find at Disney World. Disney’s Pop Century Resort While this hotel is home to some fantastic larger-than-life theming that may remind you deeply of your childhood and give you all the nostalgia, we will be the first to admit that the food here is subpar. With only one dining location, there are lots of different menu items, but you’ll rarely find them to exceed your expectations. We grabbed the cheapest dinner there recently, and we’ve gotta admit — it’ll be the last time we do so. Pop Century’s one dining location, Everything POP Shopping and Dining, is home to a pretty large menu. While you’ll find classics here like pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, and hot dogs, you will also find some more intriguing options like Citrus-Basil Salmon, Chicken Adobo Nachos, and a Honey Barbecued Pork Sandwich. Full Spread at Everything POP If you’re looking for some of the cheapest options here, you’ll be looking at any of the kids’ meals, which range from $7.49 for the Macaroni and Cheese to $8.99 for the Chicken Strips. As for the adult meals, you can check out the soup of the day for $4.49, the Chicken Strips for $10.99, or the Slice of Cheese Pizza for $11.29. Everything POP We’ve rarely had something awful here, and there are a few standouts (like that iconic Tie Dye Cheesecake), but overall, it’s not a spot we recommend. There are so many better options around the Disney World hotels, and while it’s often hard to get from one hotel to another, that’s not the case at Pop Century! Tie-Dye Cheesecake Thanks to having access to the Skyliner, you can quickly travel to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, as well as Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. These parks and hotels are known for having more impressive dining options, and taking the Skyliner is usually much more pleasant (and often more quick) than taking a Disney bus. Disney Skyliner at Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts One of the restaurants we really want to highlight is Primo Piatto at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This is a quick service restaurant that specializes in sandwiches, salads, beer, wine, and so much more, and it’s all under about $15! Primo Piatto Now, we want to preface, this is also not going to be food that knocks your socks off, BUT for around the same price as a lot of the offerings at Pop Century, it’s certainly an improvement. The Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza is one of the best quick service pizzas we’ve had on property. It’s elevated, has a slight spice to it, and there’s a generous portion of parmesan, pepperoni, and sausage. Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza We’ve also enjoyed the Lasagna in the past (though the last time we had it, it came out a little cold, but we’re hoping that was a one-off), as it has a great herbaceous flavor, and a great pasta-to-meat ratio. Lasagna For coffee lovers, you’ll love the Tiramisu here! It’s light, fluffy, and the coffee flavor gets stronger the closer you get to the bottom. So be sure to dig that spoon WAY down to get all the flavor! Tiramisu At the end of the day, we think there are numerous better options just a quick 15-20 minute ride away from Pop Century (or Art of Animation for that matter, since they share the same Skyliner station), so if you’re looking for some variety beyond your value hotel’s food court, this is the way to go. A LOT is changing in Disney World all at once, and it’s, well, it’s A LOT to take in. We’ve got a new land and expansion coming to Magic Kingdom (plus two updated rides). We’ve got a new land and an updated Animation Courtyard coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (plus a re-themed ride). We’ve got a new land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom PLUS a new show in the Tree of Life…SO much going on. And look at what’s happening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Yep — MORE CHANGE. The new lobby Disney World hotels are also undergoing some huge changes, and lobby refresh seems to be the theme of the year. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is getting an updated lobby. So is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Well, we’ve got an update to share about Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort upgraded lobby…and we’re still not sure how we feel about it. Okay, let’s start with what the Grand Floridian lobby USED to look like. It’s very elegant, but also kinda old old-world. It’s giving off old money and luxury vibes, right? Previous lobby Then Disney announced plans to redo the lobby. Here’s the concept art that was released. It looks a little busy, but we were sorta feeling it… ©Disney However, the reality is now hitting us as we see these changes put into action. Here’s what the Grand Floridian’s lobby looks like now. Is it just us, or does it feel kinda crowded with a LOT of things going on? Now, to be fair, there are still a lot of construction walls in the way, so this is not the final look. It’s very…busy Additionally, the birdcage is gone, but the new lobby bar takes inspiration from it. Like we said, that work is not done yet, so maybe that’s affecting the overall look. Birdcage Bar on the right Disney also, apparently, raided some antique stores for this furniture; it’s a mixture of that whole Victorian-inspired thing with the mismatched pieces. Thoughts? Do we like it? Closer look at the furniture There are a lot of patterns in the new look, too. A whole lot of patterns Of course, the work isn’t complete yet, and maybe once it’s all done, it will look and feel different. There are still areas behind curtains, and the bar isn’t done yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see. But, as you can see, the new carpet is officially installed, along with some new furniture to match the new look. It’s certainly bright, light, and colorful! Stay tuned to DFB for more. We absolutely love seeing celebrities at Disney Parks because it shows that the magic is real for everyone. ©Disney A fan-favorite celebrity just stopped by Shanghai Disney Resort, and it’s making us smile with glee. Here he is posing in front of the castle with the main mice themselves. ©Disney Does he look familiar, but you’re quite sure where? Disney World is constantly changing and evolving, but recently, we’ve seen the company focus on fixing a growing issue with Disney resorts. Island Tower Walt Disney World’s hotels are facing a growing problem — too much demand. Even with more than 25 resorts across property, many guests are finding it increasingly difficult to book their preferred hotel or room. Here is what we see Disney doing to fix this issue. In response, Disney has a plan to expand and reimagine its resort lineup to better meet guest needs. The company’s next phase of development includes both new builds and major refurbishments, all designed to add capacity while enhancing the guest experience. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower In 2024, we saw the new Disney Vacation Club resort, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which added hundreds of villas along the Seven Seas Lagoon. This continues Disney’s trend of blending vacation-club accommodations with traditional resort amenities, offering flexibility for families who want larger rooms or extended stays. This follows Disney’s Riviera Resort, which opened in December 2019, and is also a DVC resort. Disney’s Riviera Resort In 2027, Disney World will open another brand-new hotel, Lakeshore Lodge. The resort is “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” The resort is found between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. And this will follow a similar pattern, as it will be another Disney Vacation Club resort. Check Here for a Closer Look at Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge October 2025 construction of Lakeshore Lodge To note, Disney has not added a value or moderate level resort since Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opened in 2012. This shows that Disney is committed to giving guests more Deluxe resorts to choose from, at least for the time being. It doesn’t mean Disney is leaving those hotel-style resorts in the dust, as they have been doing renovations to them. Disney’s Pop Century and Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter have both recently seen refurbishments to their lobbies. Read More about Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Remodel Here French Quarter Lobby Part of the surge in resort demand comes down to the perks that now accompany an on-site stay. Guests at all Disney World hotels receive Early Theme Park Entry, allowing a 30-minute head start before the general public, a major advantage for popular rides. Those staying at Deluxe and Deluxe villa resorts also get extended evening hours, giving them extra time in select parks after closing. On-site guests can make Lightning Lane ride selections up to seven days in advance of their check-in date, compared to a three-day option for other visitors. Combined with complimentary resort transportation, immersive theming, and proximity to the parks, these perks make Disney’s hotels a more convenient and value-packed choice, which is fueling higher occupancy and increasing competition for rooms across all resort tiers. Early Entry at Disney’s Hollywood Studios As new DVC resorts are built and classic resorts receive modern updates, Disney is working to balance guest demand with the high expectations that come with its name. For travelers, these projects mean more choices, refreshed spaces, and enhanced benefits that make staying at a Disney hotel worthwhile. I’d be lying if I said tears weren’t shed when MuppetVision was given its final show date. While not everything was quickly forgotten, it’s hard not to feel excited for the new Muppet roller coaster in Hollywood Studios. ©Disney Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is being transformed into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets (can we all agree we’re just going to call it rock ‘n’?), and it’s coming in hot summer 2026. Disney released new concept art, and we’re going through all the details you won’t want to miss. Here’s the new poster that dropped! It looks like an old music festival concert, which is pretty perfect for The Electric Mayhem. ©Disney If we look closer at the names and pictures, we see all six members of the band plus special guests, including Miss Piggy (she’s first, of course), Kermit the Frog, and The Great Gonzo! Gonzo wasn’t originally in any concept art, so we’re pretty thrilled he’s getting the recognition he deserves, especially as The Great Gonzo and not just Gonzo. The Muppets This was the first concept art released, featuring The Electric Mayhem, Miss Piggy, and Kermit, but that’s all. We were so worried Gonzo didn’t make the cut, even though he had a role in MuppetVision. ©Disney On the new concept art, it also says “and more,” which means we can expect to see even more of our Muppet friends. We know Scooter and the penguin audio engineers will be there, and Scooter will be an audio-animatronic, but Disney has also teased that “he might not be the only Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure joining the attraction.” We hope the penguins from MuppetVision are getting their new job at G-Force Records. Rock ‘n Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets ©Disney Speaking of G-Force Records, the top of the new poster says G-Force Records, which we know is now being taken over by The Muppets. Scooter’s uncle is a real estate tycoon and the owner of the Muppet Theatre, but now he’s getting into recording. We’re always for a Muppet Easter egg! And yes, G-Force Records is from the Aerosmith version, but now that Scooter’s uncle bought it, it’s all Muppet themed. Disney has said that the Aerosmith version will be open through 2025, and the Muppet version is coming in summer 2026, so we’re expecting a quick turnaround. Disney Springs is the ultimate shopping and dining district, but when it comes to entertainment…the options are a little more limited here. But that’s changing! Back in the day (raise your hand if you remember this), Disney Springs hosted DisneyQuest and the NBA Experience, two entertainment offerings that are now defunct. So, what’s the replacement? We’re so glad you asked! Oh, and if you’re as invested as we are, you can even be part of the OPENING DAY TEAM! Dream job, anyone? NBA Experience We are SO ready for the new addition of Level99, which is coming to the same building where Disney’s previous entertainment offerings used to live. While there’s no official opening timeline just yet, we recently saw Disney start work on the building’s exterior, and now we’ve found ANOTHER big sign that this experience is getting closer to opening! Currently, there are only three other locations: one in Natick, MA, one in Providence, RI, and the final one in Tysons, VA. But soon, another location is coming to Disney World! ©LEVEL99 Level99 in Disney Springs is now hiring for two positions for its opening day team. The first is a Director of Operations, and the second is a Venue Technician, both of which will be full-time on-site positions. The job listings detail what the ideal candidate brings to the role, and they also give us valuable information on how Disney and Level99 expect this location to operate. In the Director of Operations listing, it states that this person will be “responsible for ensuring a best-in-class customer experience for nearly 500,000 guests per year by managing daily operations of our entertainment, bar, and fast-casual food venue.” It’s also listed that this individual will lead a team of over 100 people, so we know this location will be BUSY. ©LEVEL99 If you’re interested in the Venue Technician position, Level99 lists that you’ll work closely with the “Venue Technician Lead to ensure a best-in-class gameplay experience for Level99 guests. You will work in the trenches, hands-on, to assist with the maintenance, repair, improvement, and replacement of Level99’s attractions and Entertainment facilities.” You can even check out this video they added about what a day in the life of a Venue Technician looks like — pretty cool! Interested in these job listings? Here’s how to apply! Level99 also listed that the candidates chosen for these roles must be able to, or potentially willing to, train in the Greater Boston or Tysons Corner, VA areas, so that indicates to us that the inside of the new location likely still has a ways to go before it’s ready. We can’t wait to hear more about this new location and get to step inside for the first time when the time comes, so stay tuned to DFB! I’ve been going to Disney World for many years and am very familiar with the system, and I STILL make mistakes now and then. The system has changed several times in the past few years, so it’s totally reasonable that mistakes happen. Here’s what happened to me and how I solved it (and how you can solve any mistakes you make, too). Since the Lightning Lane system is so complex, let’s first talk about how to use it before diving into my mistake. There are three variations: Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. When you buy Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you can use all the Lightning Lanes in one particular park at anytime the park is open — no reservations needed. You just show up to the ride and jump in the Lightning Lane. This is the most expensive Lightning Lane service — with prices often topping $400 per person in Magic Kingdom. The Barnstormer Lightning Lane When you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can make reservations for select rides available within the Multi Pass system. You pay for this service at the park where you plan to start your day, but as soon as you have used your first Lightning Lane reservation, you can make reservations for the rest of the day at any park (provided you have a ticket that allows you to Park Hop!). Lightning Lane at Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane Single Pass is ONLY for select rides. These individual ride Lightning Lanes have to be paid for separately from Multi Pass. Each park has at least one ride that is available for Lightning Lane Single Pass (Magic Kingdom currently has two). Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane All three Lightning Lane tiers can be purchased in advance of your trip using the My Disney Experience app. People staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel or select other hotels can purchase and reserve Lightning Lane rides 7 days in advance of their check-in day, for up to 14 days. All other guests can book them 3 days in advance, for the number of days on their tickets. Prices vary by park and by the day. Once you’re at the parks and you begin using your Lightning Lane Multi Passes, you can make new reservations for the remaining rides in the park that are still available. You can hold 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservations at the same time. Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane So here’s where my mistake comes into play. When you reserve Lightning Lanes, you select a certain time that you want to ride the ride. But many of the rides are VERY popular, and it’s not uncommon for some Lightning Lanes to sell out. So when I was booking my Lightning Lanes at 7 AM, 7 days in advance of my first day of my trip, my fingers were moving like lightning! I was tapping away, trying my best to get rides at certain times that didn’t overlap with other plans I had. Lightning Lane at Expedition Everest Unfortunately, in my haste, I clicked the wrong time on one. I realized too late that I had another reservation that fell over that same time frame, but I didn’t want to risk canceling it and trying for a new one. And every time I tried the modify it, the times were only showing up later. So instead, I went to the menu on the app (the three horizontal lines on the bottom right side of the screen). From there, I scrolled all the way down to the Help & Feedback section, and then I clicked “Chat With Us.” ©Disney You can live chat with a Disney World Guest Relations Cast Member to help get your issues resolved. So, since I accidentally selected the wrong time and had another reservation over the same time frame, they were able to help me switch the time of my reservation, right from the app! This is a really neat feature that you have access to any time you need assistance from a Disney World Cast Member. ©Disney This feature can be used for more than just Lightning Lanes, too. So, next time you need Cast Member assistance, give them a shout-out right from the app! In the meantime, keep following DFB for more Disney news! While washing your hands with soap and water is always preferred to keep your hands clean, sometimes you’re not near a bathroom in Disney World, and want something ASAP to clean your hands off. Hand Sanitizer with Mickey ears? Yes please! This is where hand sanitizer comes in, but why use boring ones in the park when you can make your hand sanitizer themed to Disney? One of the most popular brands of hand sanitizer is Touchland, and there’s a Disney-themed edition that we cannot get enough of, but is it worth the price? DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. An Adorable (But EXPENSIVE) Disney Hand Sanitizer Touchland and Disney Special Edition Hand Sanitizer + Mist Case The Touchland & Disney Special Edition Hand Sanitizer + Mist Case is cute as can be with its mist case complete with Mickey ears, and Mickey on the front of the hand sanitizer case itself! This is one fluid ounce of Wild Watermelon hydrating hand sanitizer, which has notes of jasmine petals and peaches, reminding you of summer. Inside the packaging The case comes with a key ring that makes it easy to attach to bags, lanyards, and more, and we do like that the case allows you to see how much hand sanitizer is actually left. Easy to attach What is so great about this hand sanitizer is that it sprays. So, you don’t get that gross, slimy hand sanitizer feeling. And, in theory, the product should last longer. Now, initially, we weren’t sure if this was worth $20. BUT, we realized that the case is removable, and that changed our answer. So really, you’re paying for the case! Touchland Hand Sanitizer Not only is this SO cute for the parks, but it also moisturizes your hands and keeps them sanitized. Yes, there are cheaper options out there, and those are totally perfect for the parks. But we won’t lie when we say that the smell, theming, and reusability of this one has simply won us over. It’s cute, but is it $20 cute? After using it ourselves and realizing we can use the case again and again, we now see why 4K have been bought on Amazon in the past month and why it has a 5-star rating!! Pricey for hand sanitizer? Yes. Worth it? Also yes! Check it out here! If you already have Touchland sanitizer at home, we have good news! You can buy the case on Amazon by itself for just half the price! ©Amazon Get the Case HERE! You’d think saving money at Disney World would be something people jump at, right? And in many cases, they do. MagicBand+ But when it comes to MagicBands, many guests still choose convenience over cost. Even though your phone can handle nearly everything a MagicBand can—and more—families keep spending the extra cash. So let’s talk about why people are still buying MagicBands when they technically don’t need to, and whether they’re worth the extra money on your next trip. The MagicBand Debate Let’s start with the basics. MagicBands used to be the way to get around Disney World. They unlocked your hotel room door, scanned you into the parks, linked your photos, and worked for Lightning Lanes and ride photos. For years, that colorful band on your wrist was basically your Disney lifeline. Your MagicBand+ will unlock effects around the park! But things have changed. Now, almost everything your MagicBand can do is also available right on your phone through the My Disney Experience app. You can tap into your hotel room, access park tickets, pay for food, view PhotoPass pictures, and even use digital passes for Lightning Lanes—all without ever strapping anything to your wrist. ©Disney So if the phone does it all, why are people still buying MagicBands? The Cost Adds Up Fast MagicBands aren’t exactly cheap anymore. Basic designs can start around $35, and the fancier MagicBand+ versions (which light up and vibrate during nighttime shows or when you tap in) can hit $45 or more. For a family of four, that’s easily $80–$180 before you’ve even entered a park. MagicBand+ And that’s not even counting if you want a themed one—because, let’s be honest, once you see a design featuring your favorite character, resistance gets tough. Suddenly, your $50+ “optional accessory” becomes a small splurge for everyone in your travel group. MagicBand+ If you skip the MagicBands entirely, that’s money you could instead use for snacks, souvenirs, or a meal at your favorite Disney restaurant. For example, $50 could buy three Mickey pretzels, a couple of Dole Whips, and a few bottles of water on a hot day. But still, MagicBands keep selling out—so what gives? Also, Disney recently stopped offering discounted MagicBands for hotel guests, so if you were banking on that, it’s no longer an option. Convenience Is Hard to Beat Here’s the real reason nobody takes the easy savings: convenience. Disney days are long and busy, and the fewer things you have to think about, the better. A MagicBand makes that possible. You don’t have to dig through your bag for your phone or worry about battery life when you’re trying to enter a park, tap into a Lightning Lane, or get into your hotel room. Tap Point for Lightning Lane entrance for Cosmic Rewind They make things easier for parents because kids can easily tap in using their own bands. No one has to pass a phone back and forth or unlock screens at every checkpoint. It’s instant access with a flick of the wrist, and that’s a hard habit to break once you’ve experienced it. Tapping our MagicBand+! Plus, there’s something undeniably “Disney” about it. Wearing your MagicBand just feels like part of the experience. It’s one of those small details that adds to the immersion—the tap, the chime, the green light. It feels official. And for many guests, that feeling is worth the price tag. The Tech Hasn’t Fully Replaced It Even though your phone can do everything a MagicBand can, it’s not always perfect. The My Disney Experience app relies on Wi-Fi or cell service, and the reality is that sometimes connections in the parks can be spotty. The app can also drain your phone battery quickly, especially if you’re checking wait times or using the map throughout the day. ©Disney Imagine trying to scan into a Lightning Lane only to realize your phone has 2% battery left—or it’s in your bag, buried under sunscreen and ponchos. With a MagicBand, you just tap and go. No apps, no screens, no stress. That reliability is a huge factor for many guests. Even though it costs extra, the peace of mind and simplicity can make the entire day smoother. So… Should You Skip It? If you’re looking to save a little cash, skipping MagicBands really can save your family $50 or more. The phone-based system works well for most guests, and Disney has put effort into making it easy to use. You can even buy just one MagicBand for the group if you want the convenience without the full family investment. It’s also important to note that MagicBands can be reused. You can even still use the original MagicBand that doesn’t do all the fancy interaction things around the parks. It will simply allow you to tap and go at rides, for your hotel room, to use your dining credits, etc. They might not be as fancy, but they still work. MagicBand+ But if you’re the type who values ease over savings, or if your Disney trips are all about maximizing comfort and convenience, you might still decide it’s worth it. There’s no right or wrong answer—it’s about what makes your trip feel stress-free. For many guests, $50 is a small price for one less thing to worry about. For others, it’s a few extra Mickey-shaped treats or a dinner upgrade they’d rather enjoy. MagicBand+ At the end of the day, MagicBands are one of those optional extras that can feel essential even though they’re not. And that’s why the “easy savings” most people could make in Disney World never actually happen. Keep following us at DFB for more tips on making the most of your Disney trip! Save Your 3 Bucks. If there’s one thing you can count on in Disney World this year — and possibly in 2026 — it’s that a lot of things will probably be closed during your stay. Saratoga Springs Resort The parks are seeing an unprecedented amount of construction as new lands and expansions are built. Some rides are closed for updates. Disney World is also busy at hotels, updating lobbies and rooms. At one hotel, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, a pool and restaurant will be closing soon for routine maintenance. At Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, we want to remind you about the upcoming closure of The Paddock Pool and The Paddock Grill on October 13th. Both are set to close for routine maintenance. The Disney World website indicates that both will be closed at least through early December, so we do not have an official reopening date. Paddock Pool at Saratoga Springs During that time, though, you’ll still have access to other pools at the resort, including the High Rock Spring Pool, which has waterfalls, zero-depth entry, and a 128-foot waterslide. Nearby, you can enjoy drinks and snacks at On The Rocks Pool Bar. The resort also has three leisure pools with whirlpool spas if you’re looking for some quieter pool time at the Treehouse Villas, Congress Park, and The Grandstand. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants at the resort, including Turf Club Bar and Grill (this one is pretty underrated!). On the Rocks Pool Bar We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details about these closures, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. The BEST of the BEST Disney World Pools, According to You! A lot of construction is happening in Disney World right now, not just in the parks, but also at some Disney World hotels. Pop Century Resort In fact, two hotels are currently getting brand-new lobbies. Now, we’ve seen big progress on the new lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, but now we’re going to show you a look at how the lobby work is going at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and you’re either going to love it…or hate it! The last time we visited the Pop Century lobby, it was already looking a lot different. In the past, that back wall was lined with shadowboxes filled with period-specific memorabilia to match the theme of the hotel (basically: America through the decades). But now, that decor has been replaced by these new character murals with Daisy and Minnie. Now, we were told by Cast Members that we’ll soon be seeing MORE new murals with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, but those aren’t ready just yet. Pop Century Resort — Lobby Refurbishment in Progress Well, we visited again and noticed some MORE updates to the lobby. Now, each check-in desk has a retro word behind it representing a different decade, like this one that says “cool.” Cool This check-in desk says “groovy.” Groovy Another one says “neato.” These are SO fun, right? Neato There are also now two communal tables flanking the check-in desks. Table The kids’ area has a fun TV screen built into the wall surrounded by fun artwork from Disney movies and TV shows. Kids’ Area There are also some new plush seating areas if you just need to rest your feet for a bit. As you can see, though, the area is still partially under construction. New seating You’ll even spot some new, fun artwork on the walls. New artwork Now, there’s still a little more work to be done, and some parts of the lobby are still behind black curtains. We can’t wait to see what the whole thing looks like when it’s complete, but we’re already loving this transformation. What do you think? Do you miss the old design, or are you all for the makeover? Here’s one last look at the OLD design. Say goodbye! Lobby Shadow Boxes Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Stay tuned to DFB for more. There are a lot of unspoken rules in Disney World. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Don’t stop in the middle of the walkway, and don’t walk in front of families taking pictures. Do not EVER yell at Cast Members (that should be a given, you guys). But one unspoken ride rule that Disney Adults and theme park experts know to follow is there to prevent awkward embarrassment! If you’ve been to Disney World before, you know that there are a LOT of boat-based rides. Not all of them are “water” rides, per se, but many of them have boat-style seating with the chance of you getting lightly splashed. “it’s a small world” In Magic Kingdom, you’ve got “it’s a small world,” Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. EPCOT is home to Frozen Ever After, Gran Fiesta Tour, and Living With the Land. And Animal Kingdom has Na’vi River Journey and Kali River Rapids. The only two TRUE water rides are Kali River Rapids and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (break out your ponchos for those!), but that doesn’t mean you’ll stay 100% dry on the others. Kali River Rapids It’s a rule universally unacknowledged that you shouldn’t sit all the way back in your seat on many of these boat rides. Why not? Well, if you do, you’ll be left with an unfortunately-placed and hard-to-get-rid-of water spot on your backside for a bit of the day. Some of those seats hold water like it’s their JOB. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Of course, this stands to reason for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Kali River Rapids, which have drops with decent-sized splashes and features like water cannons. You’re probably expecting to get soaked when you hop on those attractions. But the surprising culprits for butt-soaking are Pirates of the Caribbean and Frozen Ever After. Both of those attractions have small drops that leave the seats and bottoms of the boats covered in little puddles. Frozen Ever After So even if you’re avoiding the actual water rides, you’ll need to perch carefully on the edge of your seat for some of the boat rides to avoid walking around with a soggy bottom (something that Paul Hollywood hates — shout out to my Great British Baking Show peeps). For those who’ve ridden those rides countless times, it’s a natural habit at this point. Pirates of the Caribbean And speaking of the bottom of the ride getting wet as well — make sure you guard any valuables while on these rides! If you don’t want something to get wet, you’re better off holding it in your lap than letting it sit on the bottom of the boat. Pirates of the Caribbean Ultimately, doing the automatic edge-sitting isn’t the most comfortable way to ride these attractions, but it does make us feel like true Disney Adults every time. Some things you learn the hard way! Are you the type to scoot forward, or do you bravely accept the consequences of the boat ride? Let us know! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World updates. Okay, so you’re planning a trip to Disney World, and you’ve figured out the basics like how long you’re staying, where you’re staying, what tickets you need, and where to eat (the MOST important thing, right?). But exactly how are you getting to Disney World? It’s a big decision — and often NOT cheap. Southwest at MCO For most of us, that means flying into Orlando International Airport, and if that’s your plan, it just got a little easier from two cities because Southwest Airlines has just added two nonstop flights to Orlando. If you need to book a flight for a 2026 trip, Orlando International Airport just announced that Southwest Airlines will start offering nonstop service beginning on June 6th, 2026, to Little Rock, AR, and Wichita, KS. So if you live near those airports, you have a new option for getting to Disney World! Flying with Southwest Southwest Airlines already offers a ton of flights to and from Orlando, so this should come as good news for those who prefer to fly Southwest. Keep in mind, though, that once you get to Orlando, you’ll need to figure out how to get to Disney World from the airport. This is easy, though! You can use a shared shuttle service like Mears Connect (my personal favorite way to get to Disney World), use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or rent a car. Mears Connect Once you get to your Disney World hotel, though, getting around is super easy. Disney World has a free transportation system that includes buses, the Skyliner, the Monorail, and boats. So you don’t have to worry about getting to the parks or to Disney Springs! Yay for free transportation, right?! Skyliner Stay tuned to DFB for more. Tucked away in World Celebration is a ride that has a rather tumultuous history. Are you okay, Figment? Journey Into Imagination with Figment is the third iteration of the attraction in the Imagination Pavilion, and fans tend to have VERY strong opinions about both the character of Figment and the ride itself. Both have some deep EPCOT lore. And honestly? We think it’s time for this ride to get its redemption arc. Of course, in order to really dive into this topic, we’ve got to go back in time. The original attraction here opened in 1983 and was called simply Journey Into Imagination. It had not one, but two main characters — the Dreamfinder and the Figment of Imagination. The ride focused on the power of imagination and introduced the original song “One Little Spark.” It’s THE Dream-Catching Machine! The original version of the ride created a massive fanbase for Dreamfinder and Figment, and the character became somewhat of a mascot for EPCOT as a whole. However, with the ride’s second iteration, things took a sharp turn. Journey Into YOUR Imagination opened on October 1st, 1999, and it received such negative response that it only lasted two years before it was closed and revamped again. The scientists The second version of the ride was based on the nearby Honey, I Shrunk the Audience show, featuring characters from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Flubber. Figment’s appearances were reduced to the queue movies, and Dreamfinder was cut from the attraction entirely. Fans of those characters were, naturally, very upset by the changes. The current ride’s queue When the second version closed in 2001, it was revamped yet again. Now, we have a version with Figment, but no Dreamfinder (instead, it’s hosted by Dr. Nigel Channing). The ride mostly focuses on your five senses, with a new version of the “One Little Spark” song played throughout. Figment’s House Nowadays, the two main complaints we hear about the ride are that Dreamfinder is missing or that people find the current version of Figment to be annoying. This version of the ride has been around since June 2002, meaning it has now been open even longer than the original. After 23 years, it might be time to rethink Figment yet again. Sight Scene Since Figment as a character is such a staple of EPCOT, it would likely be a huge miss to get rid of his ride altogether. However, a new version of his ride with the return of the Dreamfinder and the original version of the song would probably make quite a few OG EPCOT fans happy. Of course, the technology could be updated substantially, but if it pays homage to the original, this could be a very successful revamp. ImageWorks What do you think? Is it time for Journey Into Imagination to get a redo? Or should Disney just let it be? 23 years feels like enough time has passed, and we should keep moving forward. If you’re staying at a Disney World Hotel this month, first of all, we’re super jealous and hope you have the best time, but second, there are some changes you need to know about before your trip starts. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower With all the construction happening around Disney World as a whole, not to mention all the new additions that have already arrived or are about to, there’s a lot that changes month to month around the entire resort. It’s our job to keep you updated, so, here’s a full list of EVERYTHING that’s changing at the Disney World hotels this month. Construction The refurbishment of the Grand Floridian Lobby is well underway, and while we cannot wait to see how it turns out, the construction in the meantime is ROUGH. Grand Floridian lobby changes We’ve noticed that construction here changes not only weekly, but almost every day. You’ll notice that one section isn’t blocked off one day, then the next, it’s behind walls, and another section has opened up. You’ll also likely hear a decent amount of construction work during the day, so while it won’t affect your sleep (unless you’re in the main building taking a midday nap), if you want to avoid construction as a whole, we recommend choosing a different hotel until the construction is complete. Construction as of October 9th, 2025 This isn’t the only hotel with sections under construction, as there are also multiple pool closures happening around the hotels. The Paddock Pool at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is closed through early December (along with the splash pad area and The Paddock Grill), so if you were hoping to swim, this likely won’t be the pool to go to. Instead, you can swim at the three leisure pools throughout the rest of the resort. Paddock Pool at Saratoga Springs Additionally, the Fantasia Kiddie Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is set to be closed through late October, but no official date has been announced just yet. Instead, you can visit the Fantasia Feature Pool and Duck Pond Pool. All-Star Movies Finally, the Samawati Springs Pool Slide at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has also been closed since September 8th, and Disney also hasn’t released a reopening date for this slide. Samawati Springs Pool The pool itself is still open, but if you do want to experience a water slide, you can experience the slide at the Uzima Springs Pool. Price Increases Disney also just released a LARGE number of price increases all across the resort, and unfortunately, dining options at the Disney World hotels was included on that list. There are hundreds of price increases that have now taken effect, so if you had already budgeted out your trip and what snacks to get, it’s important to take a look at these items again to see if they’ll cost you $1-$2 more than expected. Contempo Cafe Full Spread A few of the items included in this change that you’ll find spread across the resort, including hotels are: Mickey Pretzels went from $7.99 to $8.49 Dasani Water went from $4 to $4.25 SmartWater went from $6 to $6.25 Bottle Sodas increased from $5.29 to $5.50 Mickey Pretzel Meanwhile, you’ll also find a few more specific price increases at select hotels, like: Specialty Character Drink at Trattoria al Forno: Increased from $6.75 to $7 Sunshine Margarita at Cove Bar: Increased from $17.50 to $18.50 Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake at Primo Piatto: Increased from $39 to $45 Foot-Long All-Beef Chili-Cheese Hot Dog at The Market Ale & Compass: $14.99 to $15.49 Roaring Breakfast Platter at Roaring Fork: Increased from $12.99 to $13.49 White Chocolate Mickey Celebration Cake These are only a few of the items affected, so if you’ve got your list of must-try snacks, we suggest checking all their prices again on Disney World’s website or the My Disney Experience app to be safe. Halloween Festivities at Hotels There are lots of fun fall and Halloween treats to find all around the Disney World hotels and parks, but did you know you can also experience some spooky fun right near Halloween and on the actual day without a park ticket? Head on over to the Swan and Dolphin Resorts on October 31st for Trick or Treating and a Costume Contest! ©Disney Then from October 31st-November 2nd (Halloween weekend), you can also experience the following fun events: Mystical Face Painting Scavenger Hunt Adventure Inflatable Maze Fun Spooky Arts and Crafts Hair Braiding Poolside DJ ©Swan and Dolphin From what we’ve read, you don’t need to be staying at the resort to participate in these activities (other than perhaps the Poolside DJ, as pools are reserved for hotel guests), so if you’re in the area, it’s certainly worth checking out. However, you can book a stay at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground to see a super cool Halloween parade that also doesn’t require a park ticket! Woody’s Roundup wagon Every Halloween, guests get together to deck their golf carts (rented from the resort) out in the COOLEST Halloween costumes and parade them around the resort! It’s truly an event like no other. AT-AT golf cart It starts at the hitching area right by the front entrance and follows the longer (straighter) stretch of road through the Meadow section, where they pass the judge’s tent and scored points in categories based on creativity and theme. The judges will narrow the entries down to six finalists, and others staying at the resort will then crown one winner. Is this haunted golf cart actually stretching? Due to the immense popularity of this event, it’s reserved only for those staying at the resort, so if you really want to see it (or participate!), you’ll need to book at least a one night stay. Fort Wilderness Railroad We’ve stayed at all the Disney World resorts and are in the parks every single day to make sure that we’re keeping you updated on all the latest changes so you know what to expect. OK, we’re gonna come right out and say it. Disney World is a bit of a chaotic mess right now. In Magic Kingdom, two rides are closed for updates, an entire section of the park is closed to make way for a Cars expansion, and a Villains Land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, two sections of that park are also closed to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land and a re-imagining of Animation Courtyard. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is doing a phased closure of Dinoland, U.S.A., to make way for Pueblo Esperanza. Whew. Philharmagic Well, we’ve got even more closure news to share with you. In Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is set to close on November 1st, while Vacation Fun in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will temporarily close on October 20th. WHAT IS GOING ON, DISNEY? Mickey’s PhilharMagic will close on November 1st for a routine refurbishment. The good news is that Disney does not expect the closure to last long and hopes the attraction will reopen later that month. We checked the hours on the Disney World website, and it looks like it’s scheduled to reopen on November 23rd, with hours posted for that day. We’re hoping this temporary refurb gives us updated theater seats or maybe some updated effects! Mickey’s PhilharMagic Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie is scheduled to close on October 20th. Disney plans to reopen that attraction before the end of the year. As of December 10th, though, no hours are scheduled for Vacation Fun. Vacation Fun Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios already have quite a few attractions closed during this time, so you’ll have to plan accordingly. Both are also nice ways to get out of the heat, so if that’s your priority, there’s always Carousel of Progress and Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom, as well as For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Hollywood Studios. You can also pop into Walt Disney Presents to escape the heat. Luckily, you’ve still got some options! For The First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Holiday We’ll keep an eye out for more closures in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
