Holiday Duets is back at the Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays again this year, and if you’re a fan of mac and cheese, this is the booth you NEED to visit! 2025 Holiday Duets Booth The 2025 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays has officially started at Disneyland Resort, and there are LOTS of things to do. From now through January 7th, 2026, you can devour some tasty eats and drinks, check out unique entertainment, and more. Come along with us as we check out the Holiday Duets booth for 2025. Menu Mac and cheese is on the menu at Holiday Duets again this year! The Savory Kugel Mac & Cheese is back for 2025 and is joined by the new Al Pastor Mac & Cheese. If you can’t decide which to choose, you can get The Holiday Duet, featuring half portions of both mac and cheese dishes. If you’re a beer drinker, this is where you’ll find a collection of four new beers — all available in a Holiday Hops Flight for $20.50. Menu! Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself! Eats Returning for 2025 is the Savory Kugel Mac & Cheese made with herb breadcrumbs, sour cream, and chives and priced at $8.50. Last year, we enjoyed this dish and found it to be super creamy but light on the sour cream taste. Savory Kugel Mac & Cheese Once again, the dish was very creamy. The sour cream was a standout flavor, and the bread crumbs added a nice crunch to the dish — the blending of the soft and crunchy textures was so satisfying. Overall, a nice dish, but if we had to choose one, we would take the next one we had! So creamy! New this year is the Al Pastor Mac & Cheese with tortilla crumble and cilantro for $9.00. Al Pastor Mac N Cheese We’re calling this a best of the fest item! The dish had a lot of flavor, as well as a bit of a kick, but it wasn’t too spicy — more flavor than heat. There was quite a bit of meat, and they were in generous chunks. The dish also had great texture. The Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful. The one thing we didn’t notice at all was the cilantro. This was amazing! Drinks It’s all about beer at the Holiday Duets booth! This year you’ll find: Trumer Brewery Doppelgänger Northern Lager (New) — $17.00 Trademark Brewing Perfect Gentleman West Coast IPA (New) — $18.50 Great Notion Brewing Northleft Hazy IPA (New) — $18.50 Kern River Brewing Co. Winter IPA (New) — $18.50 And if you can’t decide which beer you want, there is a Holiday Hops Flight for $20.50 with smaller pours of each beer. Holiday Hops Flight The Trumer Brewery Doppelgänger Northern Lager was a fruity lager with a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. Trumer Brewery Doppelgänger Northern Lager The Trademark Brewing Perfect Gentleman West Coast IPA was our favorite of the four beers. It had hints of grapefruit and pineapple. This beer was also more on the bitter side. Trademark Brewing Perfect Gentleman West Coast IPA The Great Notion Brewing Northleft Hazy IPA had a hazy, thicker texture. We were picking up citrus notes. It looked different than the other three. Great Notion Brewing Northleft Hazy IPA Lastly, but not least, is the Kern River Brewing Co. Winter IPA This one was our least favorite among the four. It had citrus and floral notes, with an earthy taste. Kern River Brewing Co. Winter IPA OVERALL Overall, we’ll definitely be going back to this booth! It has one of our favorite items at the festival, and you can never go wrong with some good mac n cheese. Make sure you stop by this booth when you’re at the festival. Look at what we got! That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! The new ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Destiny, offers spaces for the whole family to enjoy together, plus specialty venues for both kids and families. The Disney Destiny’s bars and lounges are no exception, offering both exclusive spaces for adults and venues with family entertainment during the day, before turning into a haven for those 18+ to enjoy in the evening. De Vil’s The Sanctum Cask & Cannon The Haunted Mansion Parlor Many of these venues feature brand-new designs, plus special, exclusive menus, all inspired by the unforgettable personalities of heroic and villainous characters in favorite Disney stories. We’re on a quest to experience all of the lounges and bars onboard the Disney Destiny. Here we go! De Vil’s Perfectly wretched! De Vil’s is a lavish lounge inspired by the iconic, villainous fashionista, Cruella de Vil. Her unforgettably bold flair made infamous by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ One Hundred and One Dalmatians comes to life in a whole new way, all with her sleek, signature color palette of red, black, and white. And, of course, spots! The chic, intimate piano lounge located off the Grand Hall is inspired by Hollywood Regency design and a fabulous, spotted grand piano to entertain adults on the hunt for some relaxation and live music. Above the spotted piano, a fiber optic Cruella will appear and disappear. If you are at De Vil’s at the right time, be prepared “to take a sudden chill,” as the fabulous diva herself might just make an appearance. In “Treble Making with Cruella,” the fearsome fur lady takes over the piano lounge to rewrite the lyrics of her classic song and design a more flattering ode to her marvelousness. A high-fashion piano lounge needs a high-fashion menu, and inside De Vil’s you’ll find a selection of designer drink offerings, all inspired by the characters from Disney films. Be sure to dress the part as these couture beverages serve as that perfect last accessory, honoring Cruella de Vil’s classic legacy. The Sanctum Step into the Sanctum, Disney Cruise Line’s very first lounge inspired by Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange. The Sanctum is the centrally located entertainment parlor hosting activities for families during the day before inviting adults to enjoy a mystical evening with live music and themed drinks. As if a Sanctum is hiding in plain sight, the bar is more subtle in design, but look closely and you’ll find yourself surrounded by mysterious curios from Doctor Strange’s New York Sanctum, with spellbinding trinkets designed to aid sorcerers, including Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation and spell books from the library of Kamar-Taj. The circular window icon behind the bar is a nod to the seal protecting the New York Sanctum, and details throughout the lounge are inspired by the sorcerers’ light shields and mystical arts. Start and end your day with the supernatural in The Sanctum, which offers a menu for guests of all ages, including a magical array of mocktails, cocktails, spirits, and coffee. Electric and levitating libations from across the multiverse feature prominently in this spectacular lounge. Cask & Cannon “Drink up, me hearties, yo ho!” Skip walking the plank and walk on into Cask & Cannon, the pirate’s pub inspired by the classic (and my personal favorite!) Disney Parks attraction from around the world. This swashbuckling tavern is furnished with an eclectic mix of treasures that have been pillaged and plundered — or, “commandeered,” one might say — by the storied pirates themselves. Here, the rum is never gone! Cask & Cannon serves a menu of rare, specialty, and vintage rums, even a selection of “bootlegged” brews on tap, served straight from the barrel. Grab yourself a libation in true pirate style, surrounded by treasures, fishing nets, and rum bottles from jolly adventures throughout the years. This is a great space for a casual get-together, complete with live sports on televisions throughout the pub. For fans of the Disney Parks attractions, take a close look at the details around the pub. The lanterns serve as a nod to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland Paris. This easter egg is burned into my mind: if you look closely at the portholes, you’ll find intricate carvings etched into charred wood, a nod to the burning village scene. And, can you spot the jail cell keys? Don’t worry, there’s no prison pup onboard to taunt anyone with them. When you look up, you’ll notice a fantastical map of the Caribbean Sea, with pirate ships representing the growing Disney Cruise Line fleet. When you look down, you’ll find a nod to the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, with Captain Jack Sparrow’s compass designed into the carpet. Does it point to what you desire most? Perfect for Pirate Night on the Disney Destiny, Cask & Cannon might even have a stop from Captain Jack Sparrow himself as he walks about the Disney Destiny looking for a brave crew to help him in his latest quest. The Haunted Mansion Parlor Welcome, foolish mortals. The Haunted Mansion Parlor is the spookiest space for a sympathetic libation onboard the Disney Destiny. Settle into a mysterious sea captain’s parlor and learn the unnerving story of his bride, with haunting cues from enchanted objects around the parlor brought to life by Madame Leota throughout the evening. The fan-favorite Haunted Mansion Parlor first debuted on the Disney Treasure, and offers a haunting array of beverages, including an all-new menu of mocktails and cocktails exclusive to the Disney Destiny. Inside, you’ll find not only several design elements that reflect the beloved Disney Parks attractions, from the mansion wallpaper to the haunted clock striking 13, but you’ll also find unique additions, including a spooky aquatic focal point from the Walt Disney Imagineering archives: a ghostly fish tank filled with skeletal fish. Whatever heroic or villainous turn your days take onboard the Disney Destiny, there is something for everyone in your family during your Disney Cruise vacation. After decades of early Disney mornings, I’ve learned a few things that help me have a more successful park day, including prepping a few key things before 7 AM! Disney World I like to say that for me, Disney World is more of a trip than a relaxing vacation. If you are like me, you’re taking advantage of those Early Theme Park Entry times and you want to start your day with a bang! Whether you’re a rope-drop regular or just trying to make the most of your park time, these early-morning habits can set the tone for a smoother, happier Disney day. 1. Eat Something Before Rope Drop In the excitement of rope drop, it’s easy to forget the basics, like breakfast. Before you know it, it’s 10 AM, you’ve been zig-zagging between rides, and suddenly you realize you’re hangry. To avoid that crash, eat something before you head out. It doesn’t have to be fancy — even a granola bar, banana, or protein snack you packed in your bag will do the trick. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, grab a quick bite from the food court or a pastry from your hotel’s café. The key is to have fuel for your morning because once those gates open, stopping for food won’t be your first priority. Early Entry 2. Have Your Lightning Lane Strategy Ready At 7 AM, timing is everything, and Disney pros know to go in with a plan. While you might already have your first three Lightning Lane selections lined up for the day, make sure you know exactly which one you’ll grab next. The moment you snag your first pick, the clock starts ticking toward when you can book the next one. If you’re still deciding what to do next, you could lose valuable time and miss out on high-demand rides. So talk strategy the night before, set reminders, and have your My Disney Experience app open and ready to refresh as soon as you’ve scanned in to your first ride. Being prepared means less stress and more time enjoying the magic. Lightning Lane at Peter Pan’s Flight 3. Start Hydrating NOW It’s no secret that Disney days are long, hot, and full of walking, and dehydration can sneak up fast. The best time to start hydrating isn’t once you’re already in the park, but it’s before you even leave your room. Drink a big glass (or two!) of water while you’re getting ready, and bring a refillable bottle to keep the momentum going throughout the day. Even if the weather doesn’t feel extreme, you’ll be doing a ton of physical activity. Getting a head start on hydration helps keep your energy up and your mood steady. Water fountain and refill station 4. Have Your Tickets Ready There’s nothing worse than reaching the park entrance and realizing your tickets aren’t linked, your MagicBand isn’t charged, or you’re scrambling to pull up the right screen on your phone. Avoid the stress by double-checking your park tickets and MagicBands before you head out. Make sure everyone in your group can access their tickets through the Disney MagicMobile feature in the My Disney Experience app, or that your MagicBands are active and charged. That way, when it’s your turn to scan in, you’re ready to roll right through. A smooth entry means you can focus on the fun without fumbling with your phone. Scan into the parks 5. Be Ready for Security Security lines can be one of the biggest slowdowns in the morning rush, but seasoned Disney fans know a few simple tricks to make them faster. Before you reach the bag check, take out items that tend to flag the scanners (umbrellas, eyeglass cases, and metal water bottles) and hold them in your hand as you walk through. This helps security see what you’re carrying and can keep your bag from being pulled for additional screening. Organize your park bag the night before so everything has its place. Disney World Security Bonus Tip: Give Yourself Grace Not every Disney morning has to start at sunrise. If your crew needs a slower start, that’s okay! If you know you need a rest day, you can “stack” your Lightning Lane times to be later in the day. Deluxe Resort guests can also take advantage of Extended Evening Hours, which give you extra park time at night when crowds are lower. Magic Kingdom From your first sip of coffee to that 7 AM rope drop, these small habits make a big difference in your Disney day, and you can count on Disney Food Blog to keep you in the know with all the tips, tricks, and tasty hacks to make your trip easier. Let’s see… how does that song go? Oh, yeah! “Brown paper packages tied up with string… These are a few of my Favorite Things!” 2025 Favorite Things Booth Here at the 2025 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays, though, Favorite Things isn’t just a festive tune. It also happens to be one of the Festive Foods Marketplaces (also known as Booths) at this year’s Festival of Holidays. And we’re visiting ALL of the Booths to bring you our full reviews of each one, so join us as we find out which Favorite Things have come to the Festival of Holidays! Menu Well, I guess these dishes really have become Favorite Things, because both the Braised Pork Belly Adobo and the Sticky Toffee Pudding Macaron have returned for this year! Favorite Things Menu For beverages, the returning Guava Melon Lassi is joined by the new Winter Citrus New York Sour. Let’s dig in! Eats Let’s start with the Braised Pork Belly Adobo, which is served with garlic rice. This returning dish is $9.75. Braised Pork Belly Adobo We’re thrilled that this dish has made its way back once again! The tender pork belly is just packed with flavor, and when you combine it with the garlicky rice and especially the accompanying chicharron, you experience terrific texture variety, too. It’s a great choice if you’re in the mood for something savory. Braised Pork Belly Adobo That said, the absolute standout here is the returning Sticky Toffee Pudding Macaron! This cutie comes in at $9.00. Sticky Toffee Pudding Macaron Mickey-shaped Macarons have been a “thing” at the Disney California Adventure Festivals for years. But we are thrilled that, out of all of them, this version, filled with vanilla buttercream, date cake, and salted toffee sauce, has been chosen to return! It’s juuuust sweet enough, with the hint of salt from the toffee, for a really nice flavor balance in contrast with the sweet vanilla buttercream and chocolate. Sticky Toffee Pudding Macaron Plus, if you find anything cuter to eat this holiday season, I’ll be dipped! Drinks The Guava Melon Lassi has made its way over to Favorite Things from A Twist on Tradition, where it was served previously. This non-alcoholic option costs $7.75 and is a truly unique blend featuring guava nectar, rock melon syrup, yogurt, and honey, garnished with cinnamon whipped cream and honey-flavored cereal. Guava Melon Lassi I’m telling you, this booth is living up to its name: the Guava Melon Lassi has definitely earned its spot on the list of “Favorite Things.” The melon and guava are sweet and tropical, while the yogurt and cinnamon whipped cream cut through the sweetness, adding more depth of flavor. Cheers! Guava Melon Lassi New this year is the Winter Citrus New York Sour for $18.50. Bourbon, Aperol, grapefruit and lime juices, a “winter citrus syrup,” and a sweet & sour mix come together, garnished with a float of red wine. Winter Citrus New York Sour We thought this drink was refreshing and sweet. It had a lot of citrus flavor that reminded us a bit of a margarita. The red wine is mixed in, rather than a float, and you can taste the red wine flavor in the aftertaste. It starts with lots of strong, sweet citrus flavors and ends with a red wine finish. We didn’t taste much bourbon in this drink. Winter Citrus New York Sour So, should you make a trip to Favorite Things during the Festival of Holidays? OVERALL This booth is called Favorite Things for a reason, as it has some pretty mouth-watering dishes! It is hard to compete with an adorable Mickey Macaron, especially when it is a sticky toffee pudding flavor. We also love the Braised Pork Adobo and Guava Melon Lassi at this booth. The new Winter Citrus New York Sour may not be our favorite thing at this booth, but we still enjoyed it! Favorite Things 2025 That’s it from Favorite Things, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! Click here to see FULL menus and food photos of EVERY. SINGLE. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle-of-the-road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Maya Grill at Disney World We recently stopped by Maya Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Located in Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Maya Grill offers dinner à la carte and celebrates the tastes of “Nuevo Latino.” The decor is reminiscent of a grand Mexican dining room. Keep alert to see many Mayan motifs of fire, sun, and water. Maya Grill Hand-crafted cocktails (and even a Margarita Flight) are served along with an expansive menu including empanadas, Fajita Skillets, tacos, and enchiladas among the offerings. Look for Chef Specialties that serve two for a shareable, yet hearty, option. Maya Grill atmosphere Maya Grill is an “under-the-radar” restaurant and can usually be visited without a reservation — but we recommend making one anyway, because you never know! This restaurant is typically open for dinner only, so keep that in mind if you’re looking to dine here. Our table But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Here, you’ll find plenty of savory eats in the form of Mexican cuisine. Featuring tons of traditional platters and chef’s specialties, fans of good Mexican food will have plenty to choose from. Maya Grill menu This dinner a la carte promises the tastes of “Nuevo Latino” with offerings that will satisfy most palates, and even serves up hand-crafted cocktails — and even a Margarita Flight — alongside favorites such as empanadas, fajita skillets, tacos, and enchiladas. Menu continued And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We kicked things off with the Chips Duo for $12. This appetizer is served with freshly made crispy tortilla chips paired with a house-made chipotle salsa and queso blanco. Chips Duo We were big fans of the queso blanco and felt it was definitely above average. We’d even say it’s in the running for one of the best queso blancos you can find anywhere in Disney World. It’s creamy, yet smooth, and super easy to dip your chip into. Our server said it’s made with mozzarella and Oaxaca, and that combination is phenomenal. The mozzarella gives it that creamy texture, while the Oaxaca brings that sharp cheese flavor, as well as a hint of nutiness. We also got some jalapeño flavor, and we could see little pieces of jalapeño throughout, but we didn’t think it was all too spicy. Queso The chipotle salsa was very thin, runny, and smooth. We’re not gonna lie — this one packs a little heat. It was hot initially and lingered in our mouths, but didn’t stay too long. This is a good introductory salsa for people who aren’t sure how they’ll handle spice because it doesn’t linger for too long, and it’s not incredibly strong. If you like a little bit of heat or you want something mild, this is probably the dip for you. If you’re totally spice adverse, avoid at all costs. As for the chips, ours were perfect. They were a little on the thicker side with a good crunch and had a lovely golden look. They also held together nicely when dipped. Salsa Next up, we ordered the Baja Fish Tacos, which are made with beer-battered fish served with napa cabbage, charred pineapple salsa, and chipotle aioli in flour tortillas for $28. Baja Fish Tacos We’ve tried so many fish tacos all over Disney World, and we’d like to say these are the best…but they simply aren’t. The fish here is so fried that it falls into fish and chips territory. We honestly wish they were fresher tasting, and the oil and fried skin took away some flavor. The cabbage and the pineapple salsa added some really nice balance of flavors and textures that we really enjoyed, and they really lightened the dish up, however. We also think there was too much chipotle aioli lathered on that made it too messy with an overwhelming chipotle flavor, when, really, this should have been a balance of spicy, sweet, and savory. Instead, it was on the spicier side. These tacos are solid, but nothing special. Some of the best tacos at Disney World! The Ossobucco Al Pastor was next on our list, and it’s available for $43. This dish is made with tender braised pork ossobuco in al pastor style, served over creamy hominy grits, finished with pineapple salsa, pastor sauce, and fresh cilantro. Ossobuco al Pastor With this high price tag, we were hoping to be blown away. Fortunately, we thought it was very, very good! You get a huge hunk of meat on the bone, and it’s topped with cilantro, pineapple, and sauce. One of the most tender pieces of pork we’ve ever had, the meat falls off the bone with just a little poke of the fork. It’s also super juicy and has a great added taste thanks to the rich tomato flavor of the sauce. A little sweet, a little earthy — this dish has it all. The pineapple and cilantro bring a little bit of a brighter flavor to it, and it’s topped over tasty, smooth, creamy, and cheesy grits that absorb the sauce beautifully. Overall, this gets a big thumbs up from us! YUM Of course, we had to get dessert, too, so we ordered the Cajeta Stuffed Fried Churros for $16. This dessert is made with churros filled with cajeta, vanilla ice cream, seasonal berries, galleta María crumble, and chocolate sauce. Cajeta Stuffed Fried Churros Cajeta is a Mexican-like caramel that is made from goat’s milk, and these churros are served in a stack of four. They’re topped with vanilla ice cream, and then each churro is stuffed with the cajeta, giving you plenty of that caramel goodness on the inside of each churro. The chocolate sauce was very rich, very creamy, and offered a more cocoa-forward flavor. We thought it paired really well with the churros. We love the plating! We thought they were a smidge over-fried, but that would probably vary depending on the batch that you get. Still, the cajeta inside was so creamy and rich with a smooth milky flavor. Gorgeous and delicious, we recommend trying these churros at least once! A great dessert! Which brings us to our overall thoughts… Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You love Mexican food! This is one of the better options at Disney World, and we’ve really enjoyed the cuisine here. You’re looking for elevated Disney World food. Sure, you can opt for something quick and easy, but there’s no denying the quality at Maya Grill. You’re staying at Coronado Springs. Hey, if you already have a room at the hotel, the decision to eat here is an easy one. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You don’t want to make the trek over to Coronado Springs. If you’re not staying at this resort and don’t want to travel here, you can always opt for something in the theme parks, like La Cantina de San Angel in EPCOT. You’re on a budget. Prices can get kinda expensive here, and that doesn’t factor in tips and tax. If you’re looking to save a buck or two, quick-service restaurants are always your best bet. You don’t care for Mexican food. We enjoy this menu quite a bit, but we also recognize it’s probably not the best for the pickiest of eaters. Rix Sports Bar & Grill might be a better bet with its American-centered cuisine. Overall We were pretty happy with almost everything we tried! We felt the pricing was justified, and the ambience was awesome. We especially loved how a live guitarist played romantic music from Disney movies, and the views around sunset took our breath away. If you’re looking for a great date spot, this is a fantastic choice! Maya Grill In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. The impending return of IAAPA Expo means a surge of attraction vendors, suppliers and theme park operators that are meeting, greeting and taking care of business at the Orange County Convention Center. The event is known for its sprawling trade floor, featuring more than 1,100 exhibitors and their wares, from stuffed animals and snack foods to enormous themed inflatables and on-the-move thrill rides. Some Central Florida attractions exercise their home-court advantages to benefit beyond the booths by hosting tours, educational sessions, awards announcements and parties during the weeklong event. Some companies rent out venues along International Drive for networking opportunities. “Those parties are client-driven, celebration-driven and a lot of times the events, those in particular, are actually more impactful than the trade show, which is a blitz,” said Phil WIlson, chief development officer of Orlando-based Extreme Legacy, a design and manufacturing firm. “I feel like where I’ve gained so much value – on a personal and a developmental perspective in my career – is parties, is networking events,” said Wilson, who marks his 33rd IAAPA Expo this year. “I’ve done so many different trade shows and industries, and IAAPA has a very unique advantage where not only are you packing guests in the parks and giving them memories, but you’re impacting yourself with those you’re connected around,” he said. For the first time, IAAPA is organizing a Water Park Day, a field trip of sorts to Island H2O Water Park in Kissimmee and Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando set for Sunday. It’s more symposium than pool party, said Trisha Sissons, sales and marketing manager for Island H2O. It includes speakers about safety, special events and content creation. “It elevates our brand on that big world stage and showcases, also, not just what the big three parks can do. Like, this is what we’re doing in the space,” she said. The human connections can create sparks of ideas and support, even from far-flung attractions, Sissons said. “Obviously, we compete with everybody,” she said. “But it’s also such a close-knit community, where if there’s something that happens, we call up someone that we’ve met at IAAPA or at one of these educational things, and be like, ‘Hey, have you ever experienced this?’” Island H2O water park visitors cool off on a 288-foot slide at the Kissimmee attraction. Island H2O will host an EDUTour during the upcoming IAAPA Expo. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel) IAAPA – the acronym for International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions – offers extra-ticket outings dubbed EDUTours to explore Central Florida. One option this year travels to Legoland Florida Resort in Winter Haven. “A lot of people don’t know where it’s at until we say it’s halfway between Orlando and Tampa,” said Julie Estrada, public relations director for Merlin Entertainments, which operates Legoland parks as well as Peppa Pig Theme Park, Madame Tussauds Orlando and Sea Life aquariums. “We realized the EDUTours were a great way to get them there.” They usually involve about 200 participants, Estrada said. “They pay to be able to see something that other people haven’t seen,” she said. Last year, Merlin’s EDUTour visited the construction site of Sea Life Florida Aquarium, adjacent to Legoland Florida theme park. This year, they’ll return to see the now-opened finished product and visit the site of Legoland’s Galacticoaster, a ride scheduled to open next year. Merlin has used IAAPA Expo in multiple ways to promote products, Estrada said. It showed off future ride vehicles for Legoland and Peppa Pig parks. It revealed an Aquaman figure for Tussauds. Merlin announced a partnership with IBCCES to make all of its Lego-driven parks become certified education providers. Estrada will appear on a panel about autism this year, and Merlin Chief Operating Officer Rob Smith will talk alongside IAAPA CEO Jakob Wahl, Hasbro Inc. Senior Vice President Matthew Proulx and others about uses of intellectual property. Dewayne Bevil / Orlando SentinelIn 2021, a costumed Peppa Pig character posed in a ride vehicle during the IAAPA Expo to promote future attractions of Peppa Pig Theme Park, which is operated in Winter Haven by Merlin Entertainments. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel) “It’s a great way to get in front of customers that you normally wouldn’t have. It’s a great way to share your standards throughout the theme park industry,” Estrada said. “And it’s a great way to be able to test it out sometimes, too, because sometimes you’ll think a ride vehicle is just amazing, and then someone else will see it and be like, ‘Eh. … It’s a vehicle,’” she said. Educational sessions run from Sunday through Thursday. The show floor is available Tuesday through Friday to IAAPA Expo registrants. Merlin’s Smith also will head a news conference providing new details about the new Legoland Florida ride during IAAPA Expo. He will “announce what makes Galacticoaster unique and how it uses interactive technology in a way that no other theme park does,” Estrada said. Another press briefing will feature a new project for SeaWorld Orlando, which includes Vekoma, a coaster manufacturer. SeaWorld also plays host to an EDUTour delving into its Arctic and Antarctic areas. Other tours include Fun Spot America, Port Canaveral to see Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas ship and a behind-the-scenes look at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park will make its presence known through a breakfast session featuring Mark Woodbury, chairman of Universal Destinations & Experiences, and a panel that features four Epic Universe masterminds. In addition, the Themed Entertainment Association will announce its Thea Awards winners at an event at Epic. Attendance at IAAPA is “very critical,” said Wilson, the Extreme Legacy executive. About 60% of the company’s revenue is generated at the show, he said. This year, it will show off its new dunk cannon attraction on the Expo floor. (Think one-on-one Nerf guns versus carnival dunking machines, but dry.) “That is probably our biggest reason why we go, to show what we’re doing,” Wilson said. “It’s also to create credibility that, hey, Extreme Legacy is a bona fide company … These are the real, exact people that are on staff who are here to talk to you and work with you and partner with you,” he said. “It’s kind of hard to do that over the phone or through a website. You’ve got to really show people that you exist.” dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

Let’s say you’re in Disney California Adventure for Disneyland Resort’s Festival of Holidays, and wondering, “where can I find some brews and bites around here?” Well, look no further than the Festive Foods Marketplace… 2025 Booth One of the six Food Booths at the 2025 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays just so happens to be Brews & Bites. Lucky you! Join us for a stop at the Brews & Bites Booth as we bring you our full review (just like we’re doing with ALL of the Festive Foods Marketplaces at the Festival of Holidays) to see if it’s worth a stop during your Festival visit. Menu Just a heads up about the Brews & Bites Festive Foods Marketplace (or Food Booth, as the Marketplaces are better known)… There’s only one “Bite” on the menu: the returning Chorizo Queso Fundido! 2025 Brews & Bites Menu You can pair it with one — or more — of several Brews. We’ll get into the specifics below, but you can order a full-size beer or try an assortment of all four options with the Festive Beer Flight. Cookies and Cream Hazelnut Hot Cocoa is a non-alcoholic option, and the Irish Hot Cocoa Cocktail is also up for grabs. Okay! Let’s drink some brews and have a bite, shall we? Eats For our bite, we have the Chorizo Queso Fundido for $8.00. This returning vegetarian dish (made with Impossible Chorizo in Festivals past) is served with tortilla chips. This cheese dip is flavorful and creamy with just a little bit of spice from the Impossible chorizo. Although the flavor here is wonderful, we just didn’t get enough chips to enjoy it. You get a generous serving size of the queso, but only about 6-8 chips. Chorizo Queso Fundido with tortilla chips Okay! Let’s do some pairing next, shall we? Drinks First, let’s try the Cookies and Cream Hazelnut Hot Cocoa. You might remember it from when it was served at the Winter Sliderland booth last year. It’s $7.00 for the non-alcoholic version (pictured), or $19.00 for a boozy version with Irish whiskey. Cookies and Cream Hazelnut Hot Cocoa Featuring Hot Cocoa by Joffrey’s with cookies and cream flavors, it’s also made with melted chocolate, hazelnut purée, and Irish cream syrup. And if that’s not enough, it’s garnished with whipped cream. This is a fun flavored hot chocolate with just a hint of cookie and hazelnut flavors. The whipped cream melts quickly, too, which makes it creamier and sweeter. So creamy Okay, NOW, let’s sip those BREWS! Though you can order any of the selections individually for $17.00, we’re partaking in the Festive Beer Flight for $19.50. The beers include Garage Brewing Co. Churro Ale, Brewery X Apricot Shhhwheat Ale, Unsung Brewing Co. Chocolate Snowball Blonde Ale, and Study Break Peppermint Mocha Hard Seltzer. Festive Beer Flight The Garage Brewing Co. Churro Ale has a nice cinnamon scent, with an obvious churro-like flavor. This one is fun to try and is a pretty unique ale flavor. It honestly tastes more like a cider. Garage Brewing Co. Churro Ale The Brewery X Apricot Shhhwheat Ale is so smooth, with a nice fruity and wheaty flavor. Brewery X Apricot Shhhwheat Ale The Unsung Brewing Co. Chocolate Snowball Blonde Ale tastes like a regular beer going down, but then the chocolate hits as an aftertaste. Unsung Brewing Co. Chocolate Snowball Blonde Ale We had reservations about the Study Break Peppermint Mocha Hard Seltzer because peppermint mocha works great in coffee, but as a seltzer? We’ll say it’s wild. It’s bright green in color and tastes very minty with a hint of chocolate. It smells like a mouthwash. It’s fun to try, but honestly, we would not drink a whole can of this. Study Break Peppermint Mocha Hard Seltzer So, should you make a trip to Brews & Bites during the Festival of Holidays? OVERALL We’ve always loved the queso fundido here, and we will probably get it again, but we really need more chips to go with it. The beers are also unique and fun to try, so if you’re feeling a little adventurous, this is a great booth to visit for festive-themed beers you probably haven’t had before. 2025 Brews and Bites That’s it from Brews & Bites, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! Today marks a big day in EPCOT, as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has undergone major changes and is officially back open to ride. It was only closed for four days, but we are still happy that it is once again welcoming riders. We popped into EPCOT bright and early and beelined it straight to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has reopened! Disney announced that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion would close from November 10th to 13th, 2025, to switch from 3D to 2D. New props and lighting will also be added to the queue and attraction over the upcoming months. Now that the attraction is back open, let’s see all the changes! First, let’s take a look at the crowds! We usually see a spike in people when something new happens, so we weren’t surprised to see a ton of guests ready to ride. We rope-dropped EPCOT this morning, and when we got over to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, the wait time was already at 95 minutes. By 10:30 AM, the posted wait time was down to 60 minutes. 95 minutes at rope drop! Once we got in and started through the queue, we didn’t notice any changes besides the area where you used to pick up 3D glasses is now solid or has a drape in front of it. We thought it looked a bit weird and empty, but maybe they will add something to the queue in this spot eventually. Even though the wait was posted at 95 minutes, it only took us a bit over 45 minutes to get onto the ride. Not bad at all. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Queue Now onto the ride! We didn’t have to stop and pick up 3D glasses, which felt so odd! We kept thinking we were forgetting something, but nope, no more 3D means no more glasses. We boarded our rat and went through the streets of Paris. The ride itself is the same, except you no longer have 3D glasses. The scenes are all still the same, and we didn’t notice any other changes made to the ride during the short closure. The screens are crisp and sharp. Our photos don’t fully reflect that — it is hard to capture a moving screen well — but we promise the graphics look great in person. No more 3D! Did we miss the 3D? It definitely felt different from how it used to be, but not necessarily in a bad way. It takes away a bit of the immersion when it feels like Remy is standing right in front of you or the champagne cork shoots towards your face, but the ride is still just as enjoyable without the 3D. For many, it will be more enjoyable as a fair number of people got motion sickness with the 3D. Even our reporter noted that they felt way better after riding this attraction in 2D. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Overall, we’re glad to have Remy’s back open, and while it felt weird to not grab our 3D glasses, we’re excited that Disney listened to guests and made changes to the ride. This isn’t the only EPCOT ride that is going to undergo changes! Frozen Ever After is getting new faces on its animatronics to look more like the movie. We saw what they’ll look like at Hong Kong Disneyland, and we’re so excited for the change to arrive in early 2026. A very shiny nose is a focal point of this year’s Gaylord Palms ice sculpture display, which opened to the public Friday. Scenes from “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” have been re-created inside the Kissimmee resort, a section of which is kept at the bone-chilling temperature of 9 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of “Ice.” Designers work in a few surprises to the presentations, no easy feat as the storyline of the beloved 1964 television special is well-trod territory. So, without getting too Grinchy with spoilers – oops, slipped into another holiday classic – here are a few cold, hard facts to know about the 2025 edition of “Ice.” Red alert Sure, the title character, famous by 1949 thanks to the catchy Johnny Marks song inspired by a 1939 poem, dominates the scenes. Although “Ice” is made up almost completely of ice, there are exceptions. One example is Rudolph’s nose so bright. In some scenes it flashes on and off thanks to batteries or concealed wiring. Bumble, the abominable snowman looms over the slides at 'Ice' at Gaylord Palms. The seasonal attraction is available to the public through Jan. 7. (Rich Pope/Orlando Sentinel) A Bumble rap A big moment inside the exhibit is the crowd-pleasing slide room, where participants can glide down an icy carving. (Yes, it’s freakishly cold.) This year, the design features a chase scene with the ginormous Bumble, the toothy abominable snow monster, with arms outstretched across the room, in hot pursuit of Yukon Cornelius and Hermy. Bumble has other exhibit scenes ripe with photo possibilities as his story arc travels from abominable to adorable. Who’s who “Rudolph” is stocked with a slew of characters, many of which appear in icy form at Gaylord. You may have forgotten about the skinny version of Santa (Mrs. Claus is trying to fatten him up for the season) or Clarice, young love interest of Rudolph. Visitors also see uptight Donner, Rudolph’s dad, plus assorted reindeer and other animals. The exhibit begins with Sam the Snowman, narrator of the TV tale. There’s a whole room of misfit toys, including the striking King Moonracer, a winged lion, front and center. King Moonracer preside in the throne room of the Island of Misfit Toys in the Gaylord exhibit. (Rich Pope/Orlando Sentinel) In the picture The design of this year’s “Ice” encourages interaction, including crawl-through moments and photos ops. In one case a tunnel leads to a spot where visitors stand to pop up right next to Hermey. It’s an instant Instagrammable moment. “We really want our guests to go in and immerse themselves into the movie and the scenes themselves as their experience … you know, Rudolph’s journey in finding true friendship,” Meghan Hash, director of entertainment and special events, said during a media preview. There also are low-tech reindeer games in one stretch, including a projected hopscotch path on the carpet and a stand-up Tic-Tac-Toe station. ICE! (Rich Pope/Orlando Sentinel)Expand Ice scream Bonus points for a fact placard presented in a font awfully similar to the one used in the opening credits of the TV show. Among its fun, frigid facts: The exhibit used 7,000 ice blocks that each weighed 300 pounds. Gaylord says if you stacked those blocks, they would be taller than 17 Empire State Buildings. (You’re going to need thick gloves.) As usual, “Ice” was carved by ice-sculpting artisans from Harbin, China, a process that takes them 33 days. Although heavy-duty ponchos are provided by Gaylord, visitors should bring their own warm layers of clothing, so dig out those scarves and gloves and cover up as much flesh as possible. And, mercy, Floridians, no flip-flops. You’re allowed to stay inside as long as you like. Wrapping up Fear not, Gaylord Palms’ crystal-clear nativity scene is the final room, separate from all the brightly colored “Rudolph” action. The resort, located in Kissimmee yet visible from Interstate 4, has a flurry of additional holiday activities, including a stage show called “Pomp, Snow & Cirqueumstance,” indoor ice tubing, gingerbread decorating, snowball blasting and storytime with Mrs. Claus. “Ice” continues through Jan. 7. Ticket prices vary with date; they range between $35 and $44 per person. For more information and tickets, go to christmasatgaylordpalms.com. dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

There’s an easy way to save time at the Orlando Airport, but almost no one does it. Orlando International Airport If you’ve ever flown into or out of Orlando International Airport (MCO), you already know how hectic it can be. Between long security lines, packed terminals, and the constant hum of travelers rushing to their gates, MCO can feel like a theme park without the fun part. But here’s the thing, there are a few incredibly easy ways to make your airport experience faster and less stressful. The surprising part? Most people don’t use them. Let’s talk about why. Not Using MCO Reserve We’ll start with one of the most underrated time-savers at the airport: MCO Reserve. ©Orlando International Airport This free program lets you book your spot in the TSA line ahead of time. All you do is go online before your flight, pick your flight date and a time slot that works for you, and then when you arrive, you’ll use a special MCO Reserve checkpoint instead of the regular line. It’s quick, easy, and totally free to use (no memberships or special credit cards required). ©GOAA So why doesn’t everyone use it? Mainly, because they don’t even know it exists. The airport doesn’t advertise it heavily, and unless you’re actively searching for “how to skip security lines at MCO,” you’d probably never find it. And since it sounds almost too good to be true, some travelers assume there’s a catch, but there isn’t. MCO Reserve is available in Terminals A, B, and C, and it can easily shave 20 to 40 minutes off your wait time. Ignoring TSA PreCheck TSA PreCheck is another huge time-saver that many people skip out on. With PreCheck, you can keep your belts and jackets on, and you don’t have to unpack laptops or liquids. The line is usually much shorter than the standard one, and the whole process moves much faster. ©AP So what’s the hold-up? A lot of travelers assume it’s only for “frequent fliers,” or that it’s too much trouble to apply. In reality, it’s a pretty simple process: fill out an online form, schedule a quick appointment, pay $78, and you’re covered for five years. For anyone who flies to Orlando more than once or twice a year, it’s a total game-changer. It’s especially helpful if you’re traveling with little ones, or if you’re already stressed trying to make a park reservation on the same day as your flight. Skipping Clear If you want to take things to the next level, there’s Clear. This program uses fingerprint or eye scans to verify your identity, allowing you to skip the ID check and go straight to the security screening area. A Clear representative literally walks you to the front of the line, and if you have TSA PreCheck too, you can combine them for the fastest experience possible. ©CNN Still, not many people use it. The main reason? The price. Clear costs $209 per year, and while it’s discounted through some credit cards or loyalty programs, many travelers don’t want to pay that for something they’ll only use once or twice a year. Others just aren’t comfortable with biometric screening technology yet. But for anyone who travels often or hates waiting in lines, it’s absolutely worth it. You’ll walk past hundreds of people, and once you do, you’ll never want to go back. Not Downloading the MCO App Here’s one that practically no one talks about, and it’s free. The Orlando International Airport has its own app, and it’s packed with tools that can help you manage your time better before and during your trip. © MCO The MCO app lets you save and track your flight, get real-time updates about delays or gate changes, and even see current security wait times. You can also search for restaurants and shops both before and after security, find parking availability, and even save your parking spot so you don’t lose track of where you left your car. ©Orlando International Airport MCO We especially love the security wait time feature because it gives you a realistic idea of what to expect before you even leave your hotel. If you’re trying to time your rideshare drop-off just right, this app can save you from standing around the terminal for an extra hour. It’s a simple download that can make your airport experience much smoother, but most people skip it because they don’t realize how useful it actually is. The Bottom Line When it comes to flying through Orlando, time is one of your most valuable resources. Between long security lines and unpredictable travel days, small changes can make a big difference in how smoothly your trip goes. MCO Reserve, TSA PreCheck, Clear, and the official MCO app are four easy ways to save time, yet so many travelers ignore them because they assume they’re complicated, expensive, or just not worth the effort. Orlando International Airport In reality, they’re some of the easiest tools you can use to make your travel day less stressful and more efficient. The next time you’re flying into or out of Orlando, take a few minutes to try one (or a few) of these options. You might just find yourself breezing through security while everyone else is still waiting in line. Theme-park fans can take an intriguing peek behind the curtain with the new three-part Peacock series “Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks.” The programs tell the somewhat parallel stories of the making of Epic Universe, which debuted in Orlando in late May, along with the overall history of Universal parks, going way, way back to the days of the under-recognized Carl Laemmle, founder of Universal Pictures and its subsequent studios tour. On the Epic side of the series, there’s a smidge of false peril concerning whether the theme park will open in time because, well, we know how that turns out. But the shows effectively demonstrate that there were millions of things to fret about, ranging from trimming werewolf hair to scuffed-up trash cans to “Can we get this going in time?” There are revelations and rare looks across the episodes. I won’t say trade secrets are shared, but surprises unfold, the kind that make me ponder, “Would I say that aloud as cameras were running?” So, here are 10 surprisingly frank moments along the “Epic Ride.” Lights on Showcased in broad daylight: Dark Universe, including its Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment attraction and its array of animatronics. Viewers can spy mid-pose or malfunctioning figures, which can appear very dead in the eyes when not moving. (There are also shots of the animatronics in a warehouse going through their motions.) Team members are seen in the Unchained rafters, and there are discussions about timing, lighting, impact and first impressions. There is not, within earshot, any chat about Barefoot Dracula. Viewers get good looks at Dracula and other animatronics from Epic's Monsters Unchained ride during the Peacock series. (Courtesy Universal Orlando) Up in the air Drama happens with planned drone-powered dragons set to fly above the park. There are problems with it being louder than anticipated, its shape (sporting a 10-foot wingspan), the weight of battery packs and windy conditions. It builds to a scene where it’s determined if it will fly by opening day. That’s when I wished the series were in the style of “The Office” and with face-to-camera reactions. I settled for “it is probably a little more difficult than we anticipated” from Katy Pacitti, executive producer of the How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk area, during the testing. And on typical, late-push problems: “Right now, everything is glitchy.” Under and around Another mechanical sight is the below-the-surface glimpse of Constellation Carousel, an attraction in Epic’s Celestial Park. Granted, this merry-go-round is more complicated than typical carousels, with multiple circles rotating in both directions and creature-based vehicles moving higher than anticipated. But it’s Florida. We don’t think about basements. Inside the beast Repeatedly in the spotlight is “Le Cirque Arcanus,” a stage show inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. Where it gets unusual is with a couple of fantastical beasts involved. We see team members trained on how to walk inside the puppets, which are massive and awkward. We don’t see inside the structure, which might be a step too far. It’s not as jarring as, perhaps, a headless Mickey Mouse, but some people might say this can ruin the magic. The Stardust situation The series’ release was postponed a couple of times, mostly recently, soon after the death aboard Epic’s Stardust Racers roller coaster in September. An official reason wasn’t given for the Peacock series delay, but you had to wonder how the attraction would be handled. Early on in the series, viewers see the ride — it’s very telegenic — but it’s not addressed in the voiceovers. When that changes, the theme is safety. “Safety is always No. 1 in our minds — safety of our workers, safety of ourselves, safety of our guests,” says Steve Tatham, executive creative director with Universal Creative. “None of this happens if it’s not done safely. So we have people whose job it is to monitor the safety, so we can address any safety concerns.” There are scenes of testing the vehicles, monitoring the morning dew and “tech rides” with only a team member onboard. Mark Woodbury, chairman and chief executive officer of Universal Destinations & Experiences, interacts with guests before Epic Universe grand opening ceremonies in May. (Stephen M. Dowell/Orlando Sentinel) Face time The episodes feature loads of Universal Orlando employees, past and present, as well as outsiders. (Watch out for the circa 1990 version of Mark Woodbury, who is now the president and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences.). It’s not just executives. There are creative types, engineers, mechanics and all manner of designers, many of whom have not been camera-facing for the company much, not to mention dozens of rank-and-file folks in scenes. It’s a good blend. Their words serve as the narrator of “Epic Ride.” A few stars — Michelle Yeoh, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vin Diesel — are in the mix, but sparingly seen. (Random fact: Diesel was inspired as a child by the book “The Story of Ferdinand.”) Pressure points Some of those team members have, well, fear in their eyes. Not all, not always, but, yikes, there’s so much pressure they say the word “pressure” a lot. Granted, this is the chosen throughline of the three episodes, so it may be edited to emphasize that making the opening date deadline is front of mind. After all, this company makes films, you know? I do not want to believe that any of that was movie-making magic. I was buying it. (It all turns out OK. Repeat, repeat.) Flashback to 1990 To Universal’s credit, past foibles are given airtime. Chief among them was the jam-packed opening day of Universal Studios Florida theme park, June 7, 1990. A looking-back quote: “It was an amazing accomplishment just to get where we were, but we weren’t ready,” Jon Corfino, vice president of Universal Creative, says. Plus news footage of unhappy visitors chanting “Refund! Refund!” and reports of rides just not working on Day 1, and this on-air commentary: “Grand opening is a flop.” So if we wonder where the pressure mentioned in the previous item comes from … well, there’s history. “It felt like the world’s eyes were on us,” says Tom Williams, who retired as Universal Parks CEO in 2022. The D list I was surprised by how often the D word was used. Disney. It was uttered with respect, mostly, but in a competitive way, especially regarding the Michael Eisner era. It made me feel like Disney was/is under Universal’s skin, and I don’t typically feel that way. Oh, but the observations of Jay Stein, a longtime executive who led Universal’s charge into Orlando, are good TV. His words may weigh heavier now: Stein died last week at age 88. Director Steven Spielberg, who is a creative consultant for Universal's theme parks, appears in multiple scenes of "Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks." (Courtesy Peacock) The jam of Jaws Another featured celeb is Steve Spielberg, a creative consultant on Universal theme parks, and there were scenes of him on the construction site. Most interesting to me was his explanation of the popularity of the Jaws ride. “When they built the Jaws ride, I learned a big lesson. And that is if an audience really wants to participate in something and get really emotionally involved, they are going to suspend their disbelief,” Spielberg says in the second episode. “When that shark comes out of the water and scares people … that’s really fake. It’s really fakey, but it works because people come on that ride expecting to be scared, and they’re going to look past the flaws of a big, steel polyethylene monster, somewhat resembling a great white shark, that suddenly comes out of nowhere and surprises all of them. They allowed us to get away with it because they wanted a bang for their buck. And they got it with Jaws.” He was referring to the “Jaws” segment added to the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot tour in 1976. But it also applies to the Orlando-based Jaws ride, which closed in 2012, making room for Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. “Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks” debuts on the Peacock streaming service Nov. 17. Holiday snacks have arrived in Disney World, and that means we’re running around from parks to hotels to Disney Springs with full bellies and Tupperware in hand. A+ for presentation Over the next few days and weeks, dozens of treats will pop up across the property, and we’ll be trying a BUNCH of them. Recently, we made a trip to Disney Springs to try several snacks, and we’re here to give you the roundup! Amorette’s Patisserie First up, we’re taking you with us to Amorette’s Patisserie to try three new treats! The Christmas Present Cake Bar is a gingerbread cake combined with milk chocolate mousse and caramel crispy pearls for $8.75. Christmas Present Cake Bar The gingerbread flavor was strong here, but the chocolate kind of gets lost underneath that. The chocolate exterior was nice and creamy to add to the moist and fluffy texture of the cake. The crispy pearls added a pretzel-like element that stood out texture-wise. Honestly, this was our favorite of the three! Inside the bar Next up was the Butterscotch Christmas Candy, made with butterscotch mousse, brown butter cake, and salted caramel crispy pearls for $8.50. The mousse was light and fluffy in the middle with a strong butterscotch flavor, but that’s where our enjoyment of this treat stopped. Butterscotch Christmas Candy The brown butter cake was really dry and didn’t have much flavor outside of vanilla. The outside of the treat is gelatinous and sticky, and that kind of throws off the textures of the treat overall. Inside the treat Last here, we had the Snowman Pastry, which is cookies and cream mousse, chocolate brownie, and dark chocolate crispy pearls. He’s such a gentleman in his top hat that we had to name him — say hello to Franklin Milton Snowington III. Snowman Pastry The mousse on top is thick and tastes like smashed Oreos mixed with milk, giving it a creamy and fluffy texture. The brownie on the bottom was fairly dry, but the moisture in the mousse helped to combat it. The crispy pearls hidden inside add some interesting texture, and all in all, this was a fairly good treat. (WARNING: Snowman massacre in the photo below! We’re so sorry, Frank!) Lots of mousse So for Amorette’s, we’d definitely recommend the Christmas Present Cake Bar as our favorite! Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in The Landing is transforming into Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar for the season…that means a new menu! They have a few different items that we tried, starting with the Cookies with Eggnog for $27. This is eggnog with Siesta Key Spiced Rum served with a tree sugar cookie, a snickerdoodle swirl cookie, and a chocolate-peppermint cookie. Cookies with Eggnog In the eggnog, the alcohol flavor is STRONG, along with a little bit of cinnamon and heat in the background. It’s not too spicy, but it’s definitely spiced. Eggnog The tree cookie is a fairly traditional sugar cookie with a thick dough and lots of icing. The icing is hard on the outside but fluffy on the inside. You might walk away from this one covered in green dye, but if you love traditional sugar cookies, it’s a MUST. Cookies The snickerdoodle swirl cookie didn’t have as much cinnamon sugar flavor as we would’ve expected. It really just tasted like a basic sugar cookie. It had some crunch from the sugar on the outside and was nice and soft in the middle. Snickerdoodle The chocolate-peppermint cookie reminded us of an Andes Mint or a peppermint patty with a small amount of royal icing and crushed peppermints. This one was nice and chewy with some chocolate pieces in the middle. Who doesn’t love a cookie flight?! Next on our list were the Boughs of Holly Deviled Eggs, deviled eggs with sweet potato filling, fried chicken, herbed butter, cranberry, and parsley for $17. They didn’t have much sweet potato flavor, but were heavy on the garlic butter. Boughs of Holly Deviled Eggs The fried chicken adds a bit of crispiness with the breading and some salty, savory flavor with the meat. We were very impressed with how these held up for such a small portion on each egg (they’re bite-sized!). Delicious! After that was the A Wreath of Wellington for $19. It’s strip steak, mushroom duxelles, Gruyère, puff pastry, herbed parmesan, and horseradish-mustard aïoli. This is one of those dishes that you’ll want to eat fresh, because it’s a flaky pastry with large chunks of meat throughout. A Wreath of Wellington It stayed intact and easy to eat, and that horseradish was the perfect accompaniment with creamy texture and tangy flavor. The cheese in the pastry itself had a lovely, crunchy texture. We would definitely order this again! Cute AND yummy The other item we tried was the Turkey Egg Rolls, which are turkey egg rolls with sweet-and-sour cranberry dipping sauce. These are $16. They were crunchy on the outside with a filling that was the perfect epitome of a Thanksgiving dinner. They come in a truck! The turkey was juicy, and the rest of the filling was reminiscent of stuffing. The cranberry sauce on the side was exceptionally sweet with a strong cranberry flavor and a hint of orange. We really enjoyed these! SO GOOD We definitely give Jock Lindsey’s two thumbs up this holiday season, so make sure to check it out if you love themed bars! Vivoli il Gelato Our last stop in Disney Springs is Vivoli il Gelato, where we ordered the Peppermint Affogato for $11. It’s made with vanilla gelato, espresso, and crushed peppermint. Peppermint Affogato The creamy and smooth texture of the vanilla gelato here helps cut back on the punchiness of espresso as a flavor, and even non-coffee drinkers may not hate it. The peppermint flavor seeps into the beverage as you sip it, even though the cup was a little difficult to drink from. Strong peppermint here!
