Ready for takeoff? Soarin’s next destination is home with an all-new American adventure landing in 2026! ©Disney We’ve been expecting a new Soarin’ experience in time for America’s 250th celebration, and now Disney has officially charted the flight plan — complete with an opening timeline for when we’ll expect to see this change in EPCOT. Disney has just announced that the new anticipated version of Soarin’, aptly named Soarin’ Across America, will be running by Memorial Day in 2026. ©Disney This new version of Soarin’ will run on a limited-time basis during Disney’s “Disney Celebrates America” company-wide celebration commemorating the milestone 250th anniversary of the United States. While we already knew to expect the changes, we weren’t exactly sure of WHEN we could expect these changes to take over until now. If you’re visiting close to Memorial Day, it might be worth expecting the ride to be closed for a bit while Disney works to switch over the new ride’s show. Don’t go anywhere — we’ll be bringing you all of the latest updates on this change AND taking you for a ride on Soarin’ Across America when it debuts right here, at DFB! We finally know when we can expect to see changes at Frozen Ever After in EPCOT! Frozen Ever After Disney previously revealed that the Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff animatronics will all be getting new updates — and we officially know when that will happen! Disney has revealed that Frozen Ever After will temporarily close for refurbishment on January 26th, 2026, and reopen in February 2026 with updates to the Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures! Frozen Ever After animatronics (EPCOT) At the time of the ride’s release, the animatronic figures were absolutely groundbreaking in the world of Audio-Animatronics. It wasn’t just big because this was the first-ever attraction themed to Frozen, but it was also the first attraction to have all-electric animatronic figures — combining electric motors and 3D printing. So, lots of firsts for the ride! Frozen Ever After After ten years, the faces of the animatronics on Frozen Ever After at EPCOT will change from their projected look. The attraction will draw inspiration from the advancements seen in figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland, which are really incredible. Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics We can’t wait to check out these changes! We’ll be on the lookout for an official reopening date, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! The countdown to the final riff begins — Disney’s just announced the timeline of when we can expect Aerosmith’s farewell run on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to take its final ride before The Muppets crash the stage. ©Disney Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster’s transformation has been brewing for a while, and Disney’s been slowly setting the stage — literally! The Aerosmith pre-show has already been completely walled off, signaling the end of the backstage recording studio era as Imagineers prep for the attraction’s full Muppets takeover. When the coaster reopens in summer 2026, we’ll be trading rock legends for classic chaos as The Muppets bring their signature blend of music, mayhem, and humor to the high-speed launch Disney fans already love. While we don’t have a whole lot to go on for now, Disney has officially confirmed that we will be taking our final ride on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in its current form by spring 2026. This means you’ll only have a few months into 2026 to take that superstretch limo ride through California to get to Aerosmith’s concert on time! ©Disney Later in the summer is when we should expect Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets to officially open! Of course, we’ll be keeping you updated on all the latest changes right here as we learn them and follow along as we take one final ride on the beloved Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster before its retheme. Hollywood Studios has been going through a major transformation with new lands and areas coming to the park. One I’m most excited about is the Walt Disney Studios area, which is replacing Animation Courtyard and Star Wars: Launch Bay. ©Disney Disney just dropped new details (including an opening timeline), and y’all, is it too early to already book a trip? Later in the summer, The Magic of Disney Animation will open, which is where most of the fun will happen. Just like in Once Upon a Studio, animated characters will come to life and leap from their portraits. ©Disney “Off the Page!” is a collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering, where you can meet characters across six unique departments from the animation studio: Story Layout Hand-Drawn Animation Computer Animation Lighting Effects These character meet and greet experiences sound super unique, like how you can meet Mulan in the Story department, posing with an oversized storyboard panel. In the Layout department, Rapunzel’s scene is inspired by a multiplane camera. If you align your photo just right, you’ll be able to see layers of background and painted cells coming together like magic. ©Disney A Disney Jr. show will also be coming to the area, which is officially called “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” and will debut this summer. There will be upbeat tunes where you can dance with Mickey and Minnie as they embark on a road trip to find their pals, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto, for a party. If this show sounds familiar, that’s because it was over at Disneyland Resort in California! Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live in Disneyland You can’t forget about the Drawn to Wonderland playground, inspired by Mary Blair’s original concept art of Alice in Wonderland. This is where you’ll find me all day! ©Disney In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news! Walt Disney World has rolled out timeframes for its theme-park attractions in 2026, including the return of two popular Magic Kingdom rides and changes at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The list lacks specific opening dates; we’re in the more broad era where the company indicates what season to expect next experiences. Disney says its Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will reopen at Magic Kingdom sometime in spring after “full refurbishments.” The Frontierland coaster, which first opened in 1979, has been closed since early January. The loading area has been surrounded by construction walls for months, later joined by the former Rivers of America site. Few details have been shared about possible changes to the ride, mostly focusing on the caverns with phosphorescent pools and a “menacing rumble from the deep” mentioned on the official Disney Parks Blog. More has been said about the Buzz changes, which were initially announced in March. Passengers on the dark ride can expect new ride vehicles with video monitors for scoring updates, handheld blasters with color-coordinated beams and updated targets. In addition, the Tomorrowland ride will feature a new robot named Buddy. The attraction, which debuted in 1998, has been shuttered for its refurbishment since early August. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the original Aerosmith version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be available until sometime in spring, the company says. It will return – then to be known as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets — in the summer. These changes were first indicated in November 2024. We know that the exterior of the building, featuring a giant guitar, will receive a psychedelic paint job, and there will be an emphasis on the Electric Mayhem band and a backstory with G-Force Records now under new management. The scenery along the ride route will feature “a Muppet twist,” according to the parks blog. Meanwhile, the park’s Walt Disney Studios area – formerly known as the Animation Courtyard – will add “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” in the summer. The show is currently seen at Disneyland in California. Then, later in summer, The Magic of Disney Animation area will open with its Mary Blair-inspired playground dubbed Drawn to Wonderland and a new character greeting space. The new mission for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, tied to “The Mandalorian and Grogu” film, also arrives next summer at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at DHS. At Epcot, the updated animatronics for Frozen Ever After are expected to be in place in February. Look for new representations of Anna, Elsa and Kristoff. The park’s updated “Soarin’ Across America,” designed to celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA, debuts by Memorial Day, Disney says. Disney World announced Tuesday that Animal Kingdom would become a home for the Bluey and Bingo characters as of summer 2026. Finally, Level99, an interactive gaming venue, will open at Disney Springs in 2026. The project, announced in Feburary, will operate from the previous home of NBA Experience, which closed with the pandemic shutdown in 2020 and never reopened. It’s also on the footprint of the former DisneyQuest attraction, which closed in 2017, and the building eventually was demolished. Disney World has additional construction projects under way, but they are expected to be completed sometime after 2026. Among them are a villains-themed land and “Cars” attractions at Magic Kingdom, a Tropical Americas area (think “Encanto,” “Indiana Jones”) at Animal Kingdom and a “Monsters, Inc.” land at Hollywood Studios. The countdown is on to the new year, and I can’t contain my excitement about everything debuting at Walt Disney World! 2026 is going to be full of great deals (did someone say Disney World Free Dining Plan for Kids in 2026?) and also: ten new and reinvigorated attractions and experiences; nine returning festivals and special events, giving you more than 200 days of supercalifragilistic-extra-lidocious fun; and lots of ways to create memories for the whole family with some of your best-loved Disney, Pixar, and Lucasfilm stories. Early 2026 Earlier this fall, we shared that Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures at Frozen Ever After at EPCOT will receive new updates, taking inspiration from the advancements seen in figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. Today, I’m delighted to share that you can see these updated figures in February 2026! I can’t wait to sail through this beloved story and get “Let It Go” stuck in my head while enjoying the latest and greatest in Audio-Animatronics figure technology. And while I’m at EPCOT early in the new year – and belting out songs – you know I’m going to stop by the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts from January 16 to February 23 for artisanal dishes, beautiful artwork, and sing-your-heart-out Broadway showtunes from my favorite DISNEY ON BROADWAY shows and stars. What’s the best way to end your Walt Disney World day? With Disney After Hours, of course! Your favorite after-park-close separately ticketed event is back in 2026. Spring 2026 During springtime in Florida, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are blooming… especially at the 2026 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, returning from March 4 to June 1. Get ready to stroll past whimsical topiaries and lush gardens, savor mouthwatering bites at Outdoor Kitchens, and jam to live tunes during the Garden Rocks Concert Series. Keep an eye out on the Disney Parks Blog for more details coming soon! Speaking of fresh air… fresh mountain air will be calling your name when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens this spring at Magic Kingdom, with touches of new magic and a crevasse-deep to mountain-top refurbishment. You might remember that we shared details about beautiful – yet menacing – Rainbow Caverns deep in the heart of this mysterious mountain. I have a feeling we might find more trouble than gold in that thar wilderness! Across Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland, I’m ready to take on Evil Emperor Zurg with the help of updated ride vehicles, cool new handheld blasters, and interactive targets at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin… and guests of all ages won’t need to wait too long to try for that Galactic Hero rank, because the attraction reopens spring 2026! Well, it’s always a good time to visit Walt Disney World to be honest, but summer is perfect for visiting the parks while kids are out of school. You may have seen this show over at Disneyland Resort in California, and soon you’ll be able to join in on the fun in the newly reimagined Walt Disney Studios area at Walt Disney World. Later in the summer, “The Magic of Disney Animation” will open and invite us all inside the world of Walt Disney Animation Studios and its beloved, playful creations. Just like in the award-winning short Once Upon a Studio, animated characters come to life; characters will leap from their portraits, draw with us, and invite us into a “Drawn To Wonderland” playground inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland concept art. And that’s just the beginning! You’ll also be able to venture into “Off the Page!,” a stunning area born of collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. Here, you can meet some of your favorite friends from beloved Disney stories across six unique departments from the animation studio: Story Layout Hand-Drawn Animation Computer Animation Lighting Effects Each space offers incredible photo opportunities: you can meet Mulan in the Story department, posing in front of an oversized storyboard panel. Or, step into the Layout department where Rapunzel awaits in a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera. Align your photo just right, and you’ll see layers of backgrounds and painted cells come together like magic! And if we rock on over to Sunset Boulevard, there’s a Muppetational transformation going down – Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open summer 2026. Looking to take another ride with Aerosmith before rolling out the red carpet for The Muppets? You can keep ridin’ and rockin’ (and rollin’) until spring 2026! The holiday season amps up the live-entertainment factor at Orlando’s theme parks. There’s a surge in festivities, taking forms such as jump-roping toy soldiers at SeaWorld Orlando, interactions with citizens of Who-ville at Islands of Adventure and gospel-music performances at Epcot. These are human beings working to spread cheer, so my holiday wish is that we be a little more present and absorb the merrymaking. (This is also spurred by spying a Magic Kingdom visitor shopping via Amazon whilst the Carousel of Progress was in motion. Even animatronic Sarah stopped her ironing in amazement.) With eyes wider open, I explored holiday offerings I had not experienced at IOA and Epcot yet. Enter the Who-Wops. This is a four-person, Seuss-inspired a cappella group, decked on in Who-Ville finery. The singers sport the trademark Who nose, which we can imagine is a breathing/singing challenge. It’s light and breezy entertainment, in a good way. And while I’m not a fan of crowd participation, I felt bad for performers who couldn’t get even a wee “Hey!” from audience members during “Jingle Bells.” Things rebounded when a man agreed to sing along – into the microphone, no less – on “Feliz Navidad.” (“Now do it in Spanish,” quipped one Who, which was funnier than it should be.) Themed trees enhance Seuss Landing during the holidays at Islands of Adventure theme park. One features Cindy Lou Who of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" fame. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel) I happened upon the group because there is a sign in the area I went to explore, the Who-Ville Tree Lot. The area, sandwiched between the Cat and the Hat and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish rides, features a handful of themed Seuss trees. A lot of this is achieved through color coding, but each is topped with a symbol of a character. That hat is a giveaway for the Cat tree, and the Cindy Lou Who tree is pretty pink. The One Fish, Two Fish tree gives some Captain America vibes, but that did make me look twice. Of course, The Lorax is nearby to speak for the trees. These additions alone aren’t necessarily enough to merit a trip out, but they enhance the holiday cheer of the area, along with the roaming Whos and the long queue to meet the Grinch. Remaining nearby is “The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular,” now produced in the cool yet comfy confines of the former home of Blue Man Group. Bonus: The show queue winds through a backstage area where construction is visible of the yet-to-be announced attraction to replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. While in the area, I popped over to Universal because of an affinity for the Blues Brothers’ “Snowman” song. Visitors later are unusually fascinated by the finale’s faux snowfall. Although it was ordinary by Orlando’s standards, it reaffirms that little things, even suds, mean a lot at the holidays. I also investigated that park’s holiday Tribute Store, which is noteworthy for its array of nutcrackers — big, tiny, aqua, pink, housing a digital fireplace, etc. — and its related photo op. An addition to the Epcot International Festival of the Arts for 2025 is Micha's Adventskalendar Puppetry, a 15-minute show performed in the theme park's Germany pavilion. Among the characters: Bernie the Badger. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel) Adventskalendar action I made the loop on the first day of the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays last week. This included looks at Santa’s station inside CommuniCore Hall and the Santa Goofy photo op inside Odyssey, which was crowded yet mellow. There’s also Glittering Grove, a display of trees incorporated into the Goofy queue, and they are flanked by fun fir facts. (Hmmm, this, plus Who lot, SeaWorld Sea of Trees, Disney Springs tree trail … equals trend!). A first-time Epcot offering is Micha’s Adventskalender Puppetry, which continues the holiday storytelling tradition of World Showcase. Here, visitors hear tales using an advent format (with dispensation, via Disney magic, to reveal more than one date) and puppetry. One segment involves making houses out of apples and sticks. The charming performance is on the tiny stage in the Germany pavilion, but it’s active. Never before have I seen a marionette stage dive into a crowd. Among the puppets are Bernie the Badger and (spoiler alert) the Easter Bunny. The puppeteer also comes down into the crowd, triggering my Resting Bevil Face, an attempt to be ignored. Other audience members were merrier, seemingly delighted to snuggle up with puppets. Some people stayed after the 15-minute show for further interaction. It’s quaint but crowded as there’s a popular festival food stand nearby, and it’s at the point of World Showcase where the weary realize, “Man, I need a beer. Hey, we’re in Germany!” News and nuggets • AJ Wolfe, writer of the best-selling “Disney Adults” book, and Pam Brandon, author of “The Official Disney Parks Desserts Cookbook,” will be appearing at Writer’s Block Bookstore in Winter Park at 6 p.m. Saturday. • Universal Orlando has set the dates for its Mardi Gras celebration. It will run Feb. 7 through April 4. Menus and concerts have not been announced. • In farther-flung news, a Lego Harry Potter land has been announced … for Legoland Deutschland in Gunzburg, Germany. The project will incorporate the “first-ever Harry Potter themed guest accommodation,” Merlin Entertainments announced. No time frames shared beyond that, details will be announced “in the next 12 months.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. X account: @themeparks. Before you start mapping out your perfect Disneyland day, there’s something you need to know about early 2026. Disney California Adventure Heading into 2026 at Disneyland, there’s no shortage of experiences to explore on your next visit! But with all that excitement of extended celebrations, returning festivals, and limited-time offerings comes another annual tradition: ride refurbishments. Disney works year-round to keep its attractions running safely and looking their best, which means a few beloved rides will be temporarily unavailable in early 2026. Here’s what you’ll want to know before finalizing your plans. One of the biggest joys of a Disneyland vacation is stepping into the parks with a list of must-do attractions you’ve been dreaming about for months (or, let’s be honest, maybe even years). Whether it’s floating along the Rivers of America, racing through Pixar Pier, or cooling off on a thrilling water ride, lots of Disneyland visitors build their park days around these iconic experiences. That’s why it can be such a disappointment to arrive, hyped and ready to ride, only to discover that one of your favorites is temporarily closed for refurbishment. Disneyland 70th anniversary In order for Disney to keep its attractions in shape, sometimes routine maintenance and seasonal refurbishments are a necessary part of park operations. But planning ahead for these bumps in the road can make a huge difference in your visit! Here’s a look at the confirmed ride closures coming to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in early 2026, so you can adjust your itinerary and avoid surprises. Disneyland Disneyland’s Mark Twain Riverboat is set to close for an undisclosed amount of time beginning January 12th, 2026. The classic boat ride is a charming staple of Frontierland since the park’s earliest days, and will be going offline very shortly after the new year starts. This means a temporary pause from your next peaceful scenic voyage around the Rivers of America, which has become a favorite for families, photographers, and anyone who loves a quiet moment in the middle of a busy park day. Mark Twain Riverboat As of right now, Disney hasn’t provided a reopening timeframe for the ride, and since closure length can vary quite a bit, if you’re planning your next visit in the early months of 2026, you should probably plan for the possibility that the Riverboat may remain unavailable for some time. If this experience is on your must-do list, consider instead the nearby Sailing Ship Columbia or a stroll through Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, both of which offer their own scenic views and Frontierland-style atmosphere. Disney California Adventure Disney California Adventure will be seeing a trio of closures beginning right after the New Year — so if your plans include thrills or a splashy adventure, here’s what to expect. A staple of warm-weather park days, Grizzly River Run is set to close for refurbishment on January 5th, 2026. This attraction typically undergoes maintenance during the cooler months, so this closure isn’t unusual (especially for a water ride). How long it stays down will depend on the scope of work, which could include repairs, touch-ups, or maintenance. Grizzly River Run If you’ve got your heart set on riding this one, we’d recommend you avoid visiting during the winter and early spring months to ensure your best chance at catching it being reopened. Additionally, Pixar Pier’s signature thrill ride — the high-speed, cookie-chasing, super-powered Incredicoaster — will also go down for refurbishment starting on January 5th. As one of the park’s marquee coasters, this closure is important to note if your group includes thrill-seekers. Incredicoaster entrance Just like the rest of the announced closures, Disney’s yet to share when we can expect it to return, so keep an eye out for updates from us on when you can expect this one to reopen. Rounding out the list is Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, the colorful spinner attraction tucked into Pixar Pier. This ride is also expected to close beginning January 5th, and (you guessed it,) we don’t have an official reopening date just yet for this one either. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind This family-friendly ride is especially popular with younger guests, so families traveling with little ones will want to plan alternative options in the area. Nearby attractions like Jessie’s Critter Carousel and Toy Story Midway Mania can help fill that gap. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind Even with refurbishments, there’s still more than enough to experience and enjoy across both parks. The best strategy is to check back regularly and watch for updates as they happen (we’ll be sure to keep you posted, ASAP!) Knowing what’s unavailable ahead of time ensures you can craft a park plan that still hits all your must-dos — and maybe even discover some new favorites along the way. We’ve got some rough news for those who were hoping to stay at a fully refurbished Contemporary Resort soon. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Construction is currently ongoing ALL around Disney World Resort, and while it’s all to make things better, more exciting, and add more value to the parks for guests, when it’s all happening at the same time? That can get a little rough! We’ve been keeping a close eye on the refurbishment happening over at the Contemporary Resort, and it looks like something unfortunate has happened — the construction has just been extended yet again, now meaning it’s going to take over three years to complete this project. The original timeline for this refurbishment, taking place at Bay Lake Tower and the Convention Center mostly, was set to be complete in Summer 2025. When it became clear that that wasn’t going to happen, the refurbishment was changed to reach completion through July 2026. Now, however, that’s now changed AGAIN. Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort The newest notice from Disney states that the refurbishment will now continue through Late 2027. Yes, that’s pretty sneaky of Disney to do, because currently, the main Disney World website still has the completion of this project being 2026. The exact wording is as follows: “September 2024 Through Late 2027 — Refurbishments will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay. January 26, 2026, Through Early May 2026 — The Bay Cove Pool, the Cove Bar, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily be closed for maintenance. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy.” Contemporary Resort This means that, if the hotel truly does reach completion at that time, it’ll have been under construction for about THREE years. This project all began in September 2024, and while some parts of it have been checked off, there’s still a long way to go, it seems. More Recent Disney Hotel News! Bluey, the animated Australian sensation, is finding a home at Walt Disney World. The character will be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park starting in the summer of 2026, the company announced Tuesday. Bluey, a Blue Heeler puppy, and her sister Bingo, will be a part of DAK’s Conservation Station, the area reached via Wildlife Express train. Visitors will play and dance with the characters there, and play games from the “Bluey” TV show with “a fun animal twist,” Disney says. There also will be opportunities to encounter animals from Australia as part of the experience. In addition, the characters will be involved in a stage experience at in Disneyland in California. That park’s Fantasyland Theatre will be turned into Bluey’s school for her “best day ever.” The Disneyland Bluey experiences kick in on March 22. Also in 2026, Bluey and Bingo, aimed at the preschooler audience, will be part of select cruises aboard the Disney Cruise Line, including the Disney Dream and Disney Wish ships. There will be a “Wakey Wakey” morning celebration as well as a cool-down evening round of Bluey and Bingo’s Pyjama Bash. Both ships sail from Florida ports, including Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. The “Bluey” show, set in Brisbane, Australia, debuted on Australian Broadcasting Corp.’s ABC Kids in 2018, and episodes now stream on Disney+. Walt Disney Co. holds the international broadcasting rights for the program. More than 150 episodes have been produced. It won a Peabody Award in 2024. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. Flying has seen tons of changes this year that we didn’t necessarily see coming. ©DHS.gov You no longer have to take off your shoes when going through security, it’s possible the amount of liquid allowed in your bags could change (they’re looking at it — we’re crossing our fingers it’ll happen!), and we saw Orlando Airport (MCO) add in dedicated Family Lanes and Honor Lanes for U.S. military members and their families. However, there’s ANOTHER change that’s now taking place at airports across the United States, and it’ll cost you some money you weren’t expecting to spend if you break the rule — not flying with a REAL ID? Well, now it’ll cost you. ABC News has reported that travelers who don’t have a REAL ID or passport when flying will now be charged $45. TSA announced that this change will take place starting February 1st, 2026. This new rule was proposed in October, and the proposed fee was originally $18. ©FLHSMV.gov This added fee is part of TSA’s next phase of the REAL ID implementation process. This requires individuals to verify their identity through a biometric or biographic system if they don’t have a compliant form of identification before they’re able to cross through the security checkpoint. When asked about the fee, Steve Lorincz, TSA’s deputy executive assistant administrator for security operations, said, “The fee was necessary because we needed to modernize the system. We needed to make sure that the system is safe.” The fee will also cover the administrative and IT costs associated with the program and ensure it’s covered by travelers and not taxpayers who aren’t flying and using the system. ©Department of Homeland Security If you know you’ll be traveling without a REAL ID after February 1st, you’ll need to go online at TSA.gov and follow the instructions listed to verify your identity and pay the fees. You’ll then receive an email confirmation to show the TSA officer before you can pass through the checkpoint, which will be valid for ten days. It’s extremely important to note, though, that TSA warns that even with the email confirmation, people without a REAL ID may not be allowed through the checkpoint. About this, Steve Lorincz said, “We still need to go through the process to make sure that we verify who you are. And for whatever reason, if we can’t do that, then you can’t go through the process.” More Recent Travel News NEWS: TSA Announces $45 Fee for Travelers Without REAL IDThis Flight Issue Has Left “Thousands Of Travelers Worldwide Stranded”The Orlando International Airport Announces 13 Restaurants Coming by 2027It’s Official. We all love Gideons Bakehouse — they’re always cooking up the best sweets and treats at Disney Springs! What if we told you the next thing they could be cooking up is even BIGGER?! Gideon’s Bakehouse The parent company of Gideon’s just filed a permit at Disney Springs, and something BIG could be on the horizon for our favorite cookie shop! Let’s take a look at everything we know right now. We just found out that a new Notice of Commencement was filed by the parent company of Gideon’s, which suggests that the very popular Gideon’s Bakehouse could be preparing a second space at Disney Springs, or maybe something completely new that we can’t even imagine. Gideon’s Bakehouse This permit is for the former Art of Shaving Location, a store located only a few doors down from Gideon’s Bakehouse in The Landing, and has been closed for almost a year. Art of Shaving store now! When looking at the details of the permit, the client listed on the filing is The First Raven LLC. The company is led by Steve Lewis, who is the creator of Gideon’s Bakehouse. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about why they filed this permit, or what it’s for. Neither Disney nor Gideon’s has made any announcements. Technically, we don’t even know if this will be a “Gideon’s” location. However, we couldn’t help but get excited at the possibility! Art of Shaving closed! The former Art of Shaving space isn’t the biggest, so it will be interesting to see what goes inside it. We’ll have to keep an eye out for any more news around this situation. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a much-needed upgrade! The iconic arch! There’s a ton of construction in progress right now at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as it builds the NEW Monsters, Inc.-themed land, as well as the Animation Courtyard transformation into The Walt Disney Studios Lot. The latter project has had a ton of tangible work already done, and some fans are really pleased by what they’re seeing. A while ago — during one of our daily park visits — we noticed that the famous Hollywood Studios arch is GONE! The arch is GONE! The project apparently includes tearing down the GIANT Hollywood Studios arch at the courtyard’s entrance, and we had it feeling it would go since it’s missing in the concept art for the new area. It’s quite shocking to see how empty the space looks since we’re so used to seeing that big arch, but it’s exciting to know that real progress is being made and that the new land/area should be accessible to guests in 2026. ©Disney We posted about this on Instagram, and @schmutzonya commented, “Very good move. That section was a bottleneck nightmare. This will allow for much better traffic flow.” While change can be difficult to swallow, it’s important to remember that it can lead to a ton of benefits. In this case, guests should be able to get in and out of the area more easily than before. Hollywood Studios Arch However, tons of other fans lament the change, like @blake_koala, who wrote, “I’m very excited for the new courtyard, but it is crazy that Hollywood Studios is just very much a different park now from its original version and I’ll always miss ”. “Dang, nothing left of MGM Studio ,” added @meanwhile76. © Disney Lots of other commenters shared that sentiment, saying things like the change “hurts” their heart, or that the removal of the arc is the removal of history. However, @momminwiththemouse took a simpler stance, writing, “As long as my favorite bar cart behind the popcorn stand is still there …” Popcorn Opening in 2026, the updated space will feature “The Magic of Disney Animation”, a building themed after the official Disney Animation building in Burbank, California, where you can watch a short film, interact with animated portraits, and even learn to draw beloved Disney characters. We’ll even be getting the return of a smaller Sorcerer Mickey hat in Hollywood Studios! ©Disney | Roy E. Disney Animation Building The reimagined courtyard will also feature a new Alice in Wonderland-themed playground, as well as a brand-new Disney Junior show that’ll replace the one that closed. When Animation Courtyard closed in September, we said goodbye to Star Wars: Launch Bay, as well. ©Disney How are YOU feeling about this massive change? Disney World is changing the game for the Disney Dining Plan in 2026, and we don’t want you to get caught off guard! It’s time to eat! If you thought your Disney Dining Plan strategy was set in stone, think again. In 2026, Disney World is shaking up which restaurants accept the plan for lunch and dinner, meaning some of your “go-to” spots may no longer be available when you want them most. From Italian favorites to Disney Springs hotspots, here’s everything you need to know so your next trip is delicious and stress-free. If you’re planning a Disney World vacation in 2026, there’s something important you need to know about the Disney Dining Plan. For years, this convenient meal package has allowed guests staying at Disney World hotels to pre-pay for a combination of meals and snacks during their vacation. Currently, the plan includes one table service meal or buffet, one quick-service meal, one resort refillable mug, and one snack or dessert per person ages 3 and older, per night of your Disney World hotel stay. It’s a popular choice for families looking to simplify dining and budget their meals ahead of time. A full meal at Disney Springs For those who have been keeping an eye on the dining scene at Disney World, though, you might not have noticed yet, but Disney World is changing the game for the Dining Plan in 2026, and we don’t want you to get caught off guard! We dug through each of the participating restaurants for the upcoming year’s Disney Dining Plan options on Disney World’s website and noticed several changes that you’ll need to take note of BEFORE you start making your upcoming dining reservations for 2026. Here’s a look at which restaurants are making a sneaky change! Tutto Italia Ristorante Tutto Italia Located in EPCOT, this beloved Italian restaurant currently accepts the Disney Dining Plan for both lunch and dinner. In 2026, however, we’ve noticed the DDP will only be valid for lunch. If you’re someone who prefers dinner here, you may need to make plans for out-of-pocket payment. Via Napoli Prosciutto e Melone pizza Also located in EPCOT and known for its authentic Neapolitan pizzas, Via Napoli currently offers the Disney Dining Plan for both lunch and dinner as well. But we’ve already seen evidence that in 2026, the plan is currently only applicable to dinner, meaning lunch will no longer be included in the Disney Dining Plan. The Edison Circuit Board Over in Disney Springs, you’ll find this industrial-chic restaurant, famous for its entertainment and cocktails. The Edison will also shift its dining plan availability to dinner only in 2026. Lunch will no longer be part of the plan here. Terralina Crafted Italian Full spread of food This Italian waterfront eatery (also calling Disney Springs home) will now accept the dining plan for lunch only, instead of both lunch and dinner as it does currently. ©Disney While these changes may seem small at first glance, they can make a difference when planning meals around park days and dining reservations. Those who typically rely on the Disney Dining Plan for both lunch and dinner at these locations will need to adjust their plans or budget accordingly. Of course, this is the season when restaurants begin finalizing plans to participate in Disney World’s Disney Dining Plan offerings, so there’s always the chance that these changes could change again before everything’s set for the year. Dining rooms However, if your favorite mealtime at these restaurants does in fact stay changed going into 2026, we’ve got a few tips for navigating the 2026 Disney Dining Plan changes. Check restaurant availability early — with lunch or dinner availability changing at several restaurants, booking reservations as soon as they open in advance will help secure your best chances to snag your preferred meal. Plan snack and quick-service meals strategically — since the Disney Dining Plan still includes a snack or dessert per night, take advantage of this perk to fill gaps when table service options are limited. And finally, mix and match meal types — while it stings that your preferred meal time might be changing, it’s dining plan compatibility, not all hope is lost. Several restaurants are known around Disney World for offering near-identical menus for lunch and dinner times, so you can still maximize your plan’s value if you can be flexible on when you’re eating where. The bar inside Disney World has long offered an impressive variety of dining experiences, and the Disney Dining Plan continues to be a great way for us to enjoy them without worrying about the cost of each individual meal. By staying on top of the 2026 changes, you can ensure your vacation dining is smooth, enjoyable, and perfectly planned. Via Napoli in EPCOT’s Italy pavilion Sure, the 2026 Disney Dining Plan is similar to what we’ve come to know and appreciate over the years, but there are a few notable shifts in restaurant offerings for lunch and dinner compatibility. With a little strategic planning, you can still enjoy many of your favorite Disney World restaurants while taking full advantage of the convenience and value the Disney Dining Plan provides. A Disney Legend just gave major props to a Disney rival! ©Disney Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe will celebrate its first full year of operation in May 2026, and the new theme park has been lauded as a massive achievement in the theme park industry. While tons of people have already gotten to experience the new theme park, Disney Legend and famous Imagineer Joe Rohde has yet to visit(as of this writing). Still, Rohde got to sit in on a special panel featuring the park’s creators and left incredibly impressed! Joe Rhode was a veteran executive at Walt Disney Imagineering and still maintains a high level of influence within the company, as well as the theme park industry as a whole. This Disney Legend was the executive designer and creative lead for notable projects such as Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Pandora — The World of Avatar, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout! — among having his fingerprints on several other big-time projects. ©Disney In November, Rohde took to Instagram and shared that he was invited by famous entertainment designer Bob Rogers to his annual legends dinner. He noted that “most of the participants in this dinner were the creative executives responsible” for Epic Universe. “Eric Parr, Jody Keller, Katy Pacitti, Steve Blum, together with moderator Bob Rogers, did an excellent job of describing the management theory that underlay this impressive accomplishment. To be clear, I have not yet seen the park, but I was happy to just listen to them talk about their method.” Epic Universe Rohde noted some talking points that stood out, such as the idea that each land was shaped like a cul de sac. He wrote, “A point I consider very important, which we tried to do with Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the simple notion that a Park is first a park… not a frantic highway of people rushing to and fro to try to ping off hyped up attractions. Not based on huge mega draws… but on a whole mixture of small intimate interactions, the value of which cannot be measured using typical metrics.” Monsters Unchained The idea that if you promise something, you’d better deliver. A quote from the dinner included, “If you have a land about dragons there better be dragons.” Stormfly Rohde also wrote, “Regarding value engineering … several pointed comments around this … most importantly what exactly is value? The very rational assertion that the power to reallocate money to ‘engineer value’ should reside in the design team.” He was also left impressed by the team management structure. “Many people are multitalented and most teams want multitalented people. So a truly integrated team messes with the silos by which we measure performance. Customize the treatment of each person … there is no such thing as a generic person, nor a generic method of design.” Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ultimately, the idea that creativity should reign supreme left a big impression on Rohde. “Refuse to stay in the boxes that HR wants you to. *Our (executive) job is not to say no. Our job is to say How?” Anyone want to go to Epic Universe? Rodhe concluded his post, saying, “The audience was full of young people ready to listen. Someday they will be ready to act. And yesterday they got plenty of good advice.” Joe Rohde ©Disney Have you visited Epic Universe yet? What did you think of the new theme park? Another Disney-laden auction is in the works, and it includes bits and pieces of Walt Disney World theme park icons. Van Eaton Galleries has prepped almost 900 items for its “Pop Culture and Disney Parks Featuring the Art of Disneyland” auction, scheduled for Dec. 6. It will feature the usual assortment of park oddities such as signs, posters, press kits, paintings and costumes – for both cast members and animatronics. Epcotters may be drawn to the flurry of Figment-related items. The dragon-based options include puppets, props and costumes from A Journey Into Imagination ride, souvenir prototype, pin celebration sign and an Imagination Institute sign. A 3-foot-long sculpture inspired by Journey’s Dream Mobile airship – with Figment and Dreamfinder aboard – is estimated by Van Eaton to bring between $4,000 and $6,000 at the auction, the would-be priciest of the WDW options. The sculpture, created by Bill Toma, is one of 15 to be produced in 1982. Here are five attention-getting Disney World-related lots found in the auction, three of which have front-and-center histories with Florida parks. Icing on the cake Want a piece of birthday cake? A bit of decor from the Magic Kingdom 25th anniversary pink castle makeover is available. Van Eaton rightfully refers to the item as a “dollop.” The gallery’s write-up also says the project was “one of the more radical refurbishments ever to take place at a Disney park.” It’s described as turquoise in color, a foot tall, 23 inches in diameter. It was placed just above the entrance to Cinderella Castle. Estimated bid: $500-$800. Starring Epcot While we’re in the wayback machine, try to recall the turn-of-the-century treatment that Epcot’s Spaceship Earth received. Recall that Disney installed a giant Mickey arm and wand to flank the geodescent dome and that at first there was “2000” signage, then altered to read “Epcot” in script once Y2K blew over. In that design, there were illuminated red stars floating about, and one of them is up for auction. It’s about 44 inches tall and in good “park-used” condition. There are a few missing reflectors. Van Eaton’s estimate is $1,000 to the very apropos $2,000. It might grow on you You may have questions about how a 14.5-inch leaf from Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life made it into the auction circuit. The description talks mostly about the “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” attraction inside, but the “leaf prop” is in good condition, though with “stains, scruffs and scratches” throughout. It’s not the most distinctive of park relics, but Van Eaton estimates a winning bid of between $300 and $500. A little bit of shopping There’s an original scale model of the shopping area formerly known as Disney Village Marketplace. It’s a mixed-media model, 56 inches long, in good condition but “with fallen trees, several loose adhesives, stains and wear from use” It was created by D’Agostino Izzo & Quirk Architects Inc. for a presentation, part of an enhancement study Some of the structures are still standing in real life at Disney Springs. Auction estimate: $2,000 to $4,000. I’ll think about it Tomorrowland Lastly, another “extremely rare” poster, touting the 1995 concept of Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. The image – designed by George Stokes and Anne Tryba – includes representations of Space Mountain, PeopleMover, Astro-Orbitor and the plaza as seen from the park hub. Also in the nightsky are an array of spacecraft and the slogan “The Future That Never Was … Is Finally Here!” Van Eaton writes: “This is the only example of this poster we have ever seen offered.” Pre-auction estimate: $4,000 to $6,000. Online bids are accepted. For more information about the auction and to browse the full catalogue of offerings, go to vegalleries.com. dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

Disney World is constantly making changes to its restaurants, from menu updates to price increases to complete closures and overhauls. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort In the past several years, we’ve been to multiple new dining locations, and most of them have been absolutely lovely. However, what we’ve really been longing for all this time is for a long-lost dining spot to reopen. And finally, after years of pleading, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is reopening its tea room! The Garden View Lounge at the Grand Floridian has been closed since 2020, when the pandemic began. Even after the hotel reopened and its other restaurants returned to operating, the Garden View Lounge remained closed for seemingly no reason. But now, it’s coming back! Garden View Tea Room This lounge is set to reopen in early 2026, as the Grand Floridian completes its lobby refurbishments. The space is currently being updated as part of the changes, and its new look is supposed to complement the updates from the lobby. When the lobby was updated, new carpet was installed, and new furniture was added. Garden View Lounge Before its closure, the Garden View Lounge was known for its afternoon tea experience, and when it reopens, a new tea experience will be offered! Disney described this updated tea offering as having “whimsical Disney touches.” In the past, there have been tea offerings here with Disney character appearances, so fingers crossed for something similar! Tea time at the Grand Flo! Currently, if you want to experience afternoon tea in Disney World, your best bet is to go to The Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk. Its tea display is absolutely stunning, but with a $95 price tag per person, it may not be the most accessible dining option for your group. Check Out Our Review of The Cake Bake Shop Afternoon Tea Here! Ultimately, we’re excited to see another beloved restaurant return to Disney World. We can’t wait to stop by for tea and see how it stacks up in 2026. We’ll make sure to update you as more details are released about the reopening. 3 Changes Hit Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
