  1. There are SO many hotel projects happening around Disney World these days. The Beach Club! From minor construction and refurbishment to full-scale room renovations and pool overhauls, it can be hard to tell what scrim and construction walls you may encounter during your vacation. Recently, a major project wrapped up at Disney’s Beach Club — the porte cochere is looking fresh and new again! During a recent visit to the Beach Club Resort, we noticed that the construction that was happening on and around the porte cochere is FINALLY complete! This project was going on for quite a while, with construction barriers, tarps, and crews filling the space on our last several visits. The updated look! There haven’t been any major changes made to the design — it seems as though it was just time for a little refresh. But now, cars can pull up underneath the awning once again, and the drop-off procedures are as usual. It’s important to note that there will be other construction projects here through 2027, so you may encounter noise, equipment, construction walls, or other signs of work being done during your visit. Back to normal! The Beach Club Resort is one of Disney World’s most popular hotels, and it’s particularly popular for daytime visitors right now due to the gingerbread carousel display. This year’s design features a stunning rotating carousel with horses inspired by classic holiday treats. The Beach Club Carousel Since the Grand Floridian gingerbread display isn’t happening this year, Beach Club’s display has been all the more popular. They offer a selection of holiday snacks for purchase in the lobby as well. This could be a great way to do some resort hopping during your vacation! While you’re at it, make sure to check out the BoardWalk gingerbread display next door and the Yacht Club Christmas village. 4. Today is National Cookie Day! I like to use this holiday as an excuse to try new recipes – not that I need an excuse to bake cookies. To celebrate, we asked the chefs at EPCOT to share recipes with us. They shared five from the Holiday Cookie Stroll at EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays presented by AdventHealth, which runs now through December 30. Today’s recipes feature a mix of returning favorites including the Hazelnut Linzer Cookie from Bavaria Holiday Kitchen and new items like the Maple Leaf Shortbread Cookie with Maple Buttercream from Yukon Holiday Kitchen. I have added tips to help your baking go smoothly. If you’re visiting EPCOT today (or any day) don’t forget to check out the Holiday Cookie Stroll. Collect stamps in your Festival Passport by purchasing five featured cookies from the Holiday Kitchens. Visit Holiday Sweets & Treats and redeem for a special treat. All this talk about cookies makes me hungry. Let’s get to the recipes! Cinnamon-Spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookie Recipe From Holiday Kitchen Our first recipe is the Cinnamon-spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookie. Cinnamon adds just the right amount of spice to these rich chocolate cookies. To keep the glaze smooth, make sure to sift the powdered sugar. Since this recipe makes 4 dozen cookies, balls of dough can be made ahead of time and stored in the freezer. If baking frozen balls of dough adjust the baking time to 10-12 minutes. Cinnamon-Spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookie Recipe Makes 4 dozen cookies Ingredients Cinnamon-Spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookie 1 pound semisweet chocolate, chopped 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup Dutch process cocoa powder 2 teaspoons cinnamon 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar 1/2 cup sugar 4 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Glaze 2 cups powdered sugar 4 teaspoons vanilla extract 6 tablespoons milk ground cinnamon, to taste Instructions Cinnamon-Spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookie Melt chocolate in a double-boiler. Set aside to keep warm. Combine flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl; set aside. Cream butter and both sugars in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and vanilla. Beat for one minute, until fully combined. Add melted chocolate and stir with wooden spoon or spatula until fully incorporated. Stir in flour until just combined. Cover and refrigerate for 30 -35minutes to allow chocolate to set. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Use a 2 tablespoon scoop to portion dough. Roll dough into balls and place 12 balls on each baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are set, but centers are still soft. Cool for 5 minutes on baking sheet then transfer to wire racks. Repeat with remaining dough. Cool completely before icing. Store iced cookies in an airtight container. Glaze Sift powdered sugar into a medium bowl. Add vanilla extract and milk and whisk until smooth. Spread glaze on cooled cookies. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby. This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version. Hazelnut Linzer Cookie with Raspberry Jam Recipe From Bavaria Holiday Kitchen Next is the Hazelnut Linzer Cookie with Raspberry Jam. This traditional holiday cookie looks beautiful on a platter and tastes even better than it looks. We used a small Mickey-shaped cookie for the center, but you can use any shape you like. Hazelnut Linzer Cookie with Raspberry Jam Recipe Makes 16 cookies Ingredients 1/2 cup whole raw hazelnuts 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 egg yolk 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup raspberry jam 1/4 cup powdered sugar Instructions Pulse hazelnuts in a food processor until ground. Combine ground hazelnuts, flour, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, baking powder, and salt in a medium mixing bowl and set aside. Cream butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until fluffy. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract and beat for 1 minute. Slowly add flour mixture and mix until soft dough forms. Divide dough into two rounds. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Remove one round of dough from refrigerator and roll on a floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 3-inch circles. Place 8 cookies on each baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until edges are set, but not browned. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks. Remove remaining dough from refrigerator and roll to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 3-inch circles. Cut an additional 1/2-inch circle in the center of each cookie. Place on 8 cookies on each baking sheet and bake for 11-13 minutes, until edges are set, but not browned. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks. When cookies are completely cooled, turn over cookies without a hole in the center and spread 1-2 teaspoons of raspberry jam on the flat side of each cookie. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the cookies with a hole in the center and place on top of jam. Store in airtight container. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby. This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version. Ginger-Molasses Cookies with Cream Cheese Icing Recipe From Experimental Prototype Cookies of Tomorrow at EPCOT The Ginger-Molasses Cookies with Cream Cheese Icing are soft, chewy, and have the perfect blend of spices. The cream cheese icing adds a decadent touch to these cookies. Since this is a large recipe, balls of cookie dough can be frozen after they are rolled in sugar. If baking from frozen dough adjust time to 10-12 minutes. Ginger-Molasses Cookies with Cream Cheese Icing Recipe Makes 5 dozen cookies Ingredients Ginger-Molasses Cookies 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 4 teaspoons baking soda 1 tablespoon ground ginger 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened 1 1/2 cup sugar, divided 1 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup molasses 2 eggs Cream Cheese Icing 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 8 ounces cream cheese, softened 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar festive sprinkles Instructions Ginger-Molasses Cookies Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and sea salt in a medium mixing bowl; set aside. In the bowl of a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream butter, 1 cup sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add molasses and eggs and beat on medium speed for 1 minute, until fully combined. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture at a time and beat on low speed until just incorporated. Transfer dough to an airtight container and chill in refrigerator at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Place remaining 1/2 cup sugar in a small bowl. Roll cookies into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar and place 12 cookies on each baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until cookies begin to crack on top. Cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks. Repeat with remaining dough. Cool completely before icing. Cream Cheese Icing In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add vanilla and almond extract and beat until combined. Add powdered sugar and beat on low speed for one minute, until combined. Increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes, until fully incorporated. Spread icing on top of cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles. Store in airtight container. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby. This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version. Maple Leaf Shortbread Cookies with Maple Buttercream Recipe From Yukon Holiday Kitchen Our fourth cookie is the Maple Leaf Shortbread Cookie with Maple Buttercream. Buttery shortbread combines with flavorful maple buttercream to make an amazing sandwich cookie. This recipe is easily doubled if you are feeding a crowd. Since the shortbread contains quite a bit of butter, keep the refrigeration time under one hour so the dough is easier to roll out. Maple Leaf Shortbread Cookies with Maple Buttercream Recipe Makes 12 cookies Ingredients Maple Leaf Shortbread Cookies 1 2/3 cups butter, softened 1 cup powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste 2 3/4 cups cake flour 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon maple syrup 2 tablespoons sanding sugar Maple Buttercream 1/2 cup shortening 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon maple extract 3 tablespoons maple syrup Instructions Maple Leaf Shortbread Cookies Cream butter and powdered sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until combined. Add vanilla bean paste and beat for 1 minute. Add cake flour, salt, and maple syrup and mix on low speed until soft dough forms. If dough is crumbly, transfer to a floured surface and knead until soft. Flatten dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 325°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Use a 3-inch maple leaf cookie or fondant cutter to cut 24 cookies. Place 12 cookies on each baking sheet. Sprinkle sanding sugar on 12 of the cookies. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until cookies are set, but not browned. Cool baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks. Cool completely before icing. Maple Buttercream Combine shortening and powdered sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Beat on low speed until combined. Increase speed to high and beat until fluffy. Add salt, maple extract, and maple syrup and beat for 1 minute on low speed, until combined. Spread 2 tablespoons of buttercream on each of the 12 cookies that do not have sanding sugar on top. Place remaining cookies on top. Store in airtight container. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby. This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version. Coffee-Mocha Cookie Recipe From Mele Kalikimaka Holiday Kitchen Our final cookie is the Coffee-Mocha Cookie topped with coffee-infused buttercream, cocoa nubs, and chocolate-covered espresso beans. The coffee buttercream, chocolate-covered espresso beans, and cocoa nibson top make this a great pairing with a cup of coffee or tea as an afternoon treat! This recipe calls for gluten-free flour. To ensure a gluten-friendly recipe, make sure all ingredients and toppings are gluten-free. Coffee Mocha Cookie Recipe Makes 20 cookies Ingredients Coffee Mocha Cookie 2 3/4 cups 1:1 gluten-free flour 3 tablespoons cocoa powder 2 tablespoons instant coffee 1 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cups butter, room temperature 2 cups sugar 4 eggs 1 1/2 tablespoons coffee extract 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Coffee Buttercream 1 cup butter, at room temperature 3 cups powdered sugar 4 tablespoons coffee extract 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Toppings 60 chocolate-covered espresso beans 1/4 cup grated cocoa nibs Instructions Coffee Mocha Cookie Whisk gluten-free flour, cocoa powder, instant coffee, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt together in a medium mixing bowl. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until fluffy. Add half of gluten-free flour mixture and beat on low speed until incorporated. Add eggs, coffee extract, and vanilla extract and mix on low speed until smooth. While mixer is on low speed, add remaining flour and beat for 1-2 minutes until fully mixed, scraping side of mixer as needed. Cover and chill dough in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Line 2 baking sheets with silicone mat or parchment paper and set aside. Use a 1/4 cup scoop to shape cookies into balls. Place 6 cookies on each baking sheet and gently flatten to 3/4-inch thickness. Bake for 10-12 minutes until tops just begin to crack, but center is slightly soft. Cool on pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks until room temperature. Repeat with remaining dough. Coffee Buttercream Place butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on high speed until there are no lumps. Add half of the powdered sugar and beat on medium speed until combined. Add remaining powdered sugar and beat on high speed until fluffy. Add coffee and vanilla extracts and beat until fully incorporated. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. To Serve Spread 1-2 tablespoons of coffee buttercream on top of each cooled cookie. Add 3 chocolate-covered espresso beans and desired amount of grated cocoa nibs to the top of each cookie. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby. This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version. 5. Is it just us, or is Magic Kingdom feeling a little less magical these days? Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom is the MOST VISITED theme park in the world year after year — and for good reason! Disney World’s first theme park is home to tons of incredible attractions, emotion-evoking nostalgia, fun entertainment, tasty eats, and so much more. And yet, the DFB team and I can’t help but feel you’re justified to skip the park right now. Full disclosure: I’m a Disneyland local who can quite literally say, “We have Magic Kingdom at home,” and not totally be lying. Though I haven’t skipped Magic Kingdom during my Florida vacations in the past because of attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON, the PeopleMover, and Carousel of Progress, both parks have a lot of the same vibe, and I can get a lot of the same here in California. If you’re like me, Magic Kingdom is a must, but it’s not the park you need to spend the most time at. WITH THAT SAID, chances are you’re not like me, and the idea of skipping Magic Kingdom is an unthinkable act. Yet I’m here to tell you there are several reasons as to why a Magic Kingdom visit should NOT be at the top of your priorities during your next visit. Rainy day in Magic Kingdom The first and probably BIGGEST reason? Getting to the park is a real pain! When you’re not staying at a Magic Kingdom area resort that has monorail or boat access up to the park gates, just getting to and from Magic Kingdom involves a whole other layer of park strategizing. Monorail If you drive, take a rideshare, or take a shuttle from a non-Disney owned hotel, you’ll be dropped off at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) first, which means you’ll have to get in ANOTHER transportation line for either the monorail or ferry to carry you the rest of the way over. At the end of the night, you do it all again, but in reverse. Only, it’s worse at the end of the night because everyone and their mother is leaving. TTC Even if you’re staying at a Disney-owned resort that’s not in the Magic Kingdom area, the resort buses get incredibly crowded — especially for the value resorts. There’s a good chance that if you’re towards the back of the bus line, you might be waiting a long time for a bus to board. This is extra awful when you’re exhausted after a long park day, and your feet are screaming at you. We recommend that if you’re traveling to Magic Kingdom, it might be best to arrive a little AFTER rope drop just to avoid the thick of the morning crowds. At the end of the night, you can get some lost time back by hanging around Main Street, U.S.A. for an extra 30 to 60 minutes after the park closes (while the Main Street shops/snack locations are still open), and wait for the mass exodus to pass before leaving. Empty Main Street U.S.A. The best way to avoid crowds is to skip the general admission altogether and purchase an After Hours event ticket, when available, so you can COMPLETELY avoid the worst of the crowds and ride back-to-back rides for 3 extra hours past closing time — while also grabbing complimentary ice cream, bottle sodas, and popcorn from various kiosks all night long. Sure, this is not free, and if you’ve gone to Magic Kingdom a lot, this may seem excessive, but it’s a great way to avoid the crowds. Fantasyland Crowding is, ultimately, the major issue here. There is no indication that Magic Kingdom will relinquish the “Most Visited Theme Park” title any time soon, and so that trend will most certainly continue into the foreseeable future. The fact that lots of rides will be in refurbishment flux (such as Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, among other routine maintenance) won’t stop crowds from coming. Additionally, there will be TONS of construction at the park for the new Villains Land and the Cars-themed Piston Peak area, replacing the Rivers of America. The walls create a bottleneck! So not only will you have to deal with construction and refurbishments during your visit, but it’s unlikely that the crowds will disappear. Not the prettiest, but necessary! So to recap, Magic Kingdom naturally has an annoying transportation and crowd problem, but while we could put up with these issues in the past, it’s harder to justify when the offerings and sights are more limited than they used to be. But don’t worry! We plan on pushing through, and you can count on us to bring you daily Magic Kingdom coverage. Magic of Disney Animation In late summer 2026, The Magic of Disney Animation will open at the new Walt Disney Studios area — the previous home of Animation Courtyard. ©Disney The new land will retain two of Animation Courtyard’s signature attractions while introducing brand-new experiences inspired by beloved Disney characters, as well as the “Once Upon a Studio” short film! 7. Happy Holidays from all of us at DFB. As you may know, the holiday season is in full swing in Disney World, and we’ve been making our way around Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights, and the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays to get you reviews of ALL the special holiday food and drinks. Spot the hidden Mickey on our snack? We’re also spending time in the parks and Disney Springs trying out all the holiday food and drinks available there, and now, we’re heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to tell you about a few NEW holiday treats, as well as some treats celebrating Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash. So are these new treats worth your time and money? Let’s find out! We’re starting at Creature Comforts, aka the Starbucks location in Animal Kingdom. Here, you can get a Peppermint Ganache Brownie for $5.79, which is a fudge brownie topped with peppermint-white chocolate ganache and peppermint pieces. This is a super cute treat. Peppermint ganache brownie The chocolate flavor is the predominant flavor, and it tasted a lot like those mini brownies you can buy in packs at the grocery store, except it’s a bit thicker. We had a hard time cutting into it. It’s a pretty basic snack, with a lot of peppermint flavor, thanks to the ganache, but it’s nothing really special, at least as far as flavors go. It’s a little hard Next up, we grabbed the Cranberry-Cherry Cheesecake Pop at Flame Tree Barbecue. This is white chocolate cheesecake with cranberry-cherry swirl dipped in dark chocolate with cookie crust for $6.29. This is another cute snack with a fun design that even includes a hidden Mickey. Cranberry-Cherry Cheesecake Pop You’ve got that nice dark chocolate coating that pairs well with the creaminess of the cheesecake and the tartness of the cranberry and cherry, which tasted a lot like raspberry to us. So it tasted like raspberry cheesecake dipped in dark chocolate with a little bit of cookie crust. And you know what? We’re not mad about it. It’s SO good Okay, so technically, the next snack we tried isn’t a holiday treat PER SE, but it’s a Zootopia 2-themed treat. The Gary De’Snake Macaron at Pizzafari is a passion fruit ganache-filled macaron with raspberry jelly décor and chocolate décor for $6.49. The macaron is HUGE, plus it’s charming with the Gary design on the white chocolate medallion. And the little tongue sticking out of the macaron is ADORABLE. Gary De’Snake Macaron The macaron itself is soft, and the passion fruit ganache is SO fruity and wonderful –– and that’s where a lot of the flavor of this little guy is coming from because the macaron is just like a plain vanilla macaron. The little tongue is like a fruit roll-up. This is one snack we’d get again because WHO KNEW you could get a good macaron OUTSIDE EPCOT? Also, kids and Zootopia fans are going to love it. The little tongue, though! So we’ve got another movie promotional treat coming your way. It’s the Nightwraith Blaze, a drink themed around Avatar: Fire and Ash. It’s available at Pongu Pongu for $10.29, and it’s a blood orange, lychee, and wildberry slushy topped with a glow cube and passion fruit juice-filled pearls. Nightwraiths are a new kind of flying creature introduced in the movie, so this drink is dedicated to them. We’re just going to tell you now…this is even better than the standard drink here, the Night Blossom. Nightwraith Blaze It’s a grown-up take on fruit punch with the blood orange and lychee flavors combining to give you that kind of vibe. The popping pearls are also delicious with that passion fruit flavor we love, and that, too, blends with the drink to create a satisfying whole. We think this one is going to be super popular because we saw several people walking around with it when we visited Pandora. The New MUST drink in Pandora Okay, we’ve got another new drink that’s celebrating the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The Trader’s Tailwind at Satu’li Canteen is made with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Triple Sec Liqueur, Mango Purée, Minute Maid Orange Juice, Chamoy, and Ginger Beer with a Chili-Lime-rimmed Glass garnished with a Dehydrated Blood Orange Wheel for $16.50. Yep, there is a LOT going on with this drink. Trader’s Tailwind We are going to have to praise the geniuses who came up with these new Pandora treats, y’all. The theming is SO on point, and the flavors are so interesting. So this has officially become our new favorite margarita in Disney World. It has such a perfect balance of flavor, despite all of those ingredients. There’s a nice low heat mixed with a sweet, tangy juiciness, and that Tajin rim. PERFECTION. But y’all, it is NOT cheap. This is a $17 margarita, but we won’t lie, we would probably still order it again. It’s good, but it’s pricey Satu’li Canteen has also introduced the Mangkwan Mousse, which is a Cinnamon-Milk Chocolate Mousse, Caramelized Banana Cake, Banana- Sesame Caramel, and Chocolate-Sesame Crumble for $6.29. Okay, first up, this snack really does look like it came from an alien planet. Metkayina Mousse Our taste buds were so confused with this mousse…but in a good way. It’s sort of like a creme brulee, but in mousse form. Then it has a banana nut bread interior, and that caramelized drip with a hint of chocolate and sesame on top. Just WOW. It shouldn’t work. But it does. We love how unique it looks, but also how unique it tastes. The only bad part of all this is that these treats are probably only available for a limited time, so you’ll want to run to Pandora ASAP to try these. Spoiler: it’s delicious. 9. We are probably always going to be singing the praises of La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT, and we’re not the only ones. You see, celebrities love La Cava, too, so much that several have even created their own drinks for this popular bar. The Standing Ovation For example, La Cava’s Black Magic Margarita is Neil Patrick Harris’ drink. Then, you’ve also got The Lily, created by Lily Aldridge. Well, now, Jordan Fisher (yep, you may know him as the voice of Happily Ever After, but he also has some serious Broadway roles on his resume) has his own drink at La Cava, and we stopped by the bar to try it out. Now, remember a few weeks ago when La Cava teased SOMETHING with Jordan Fisher? Well, now we know this is what they were teasing! The Standing Ovation, crafted by Fisher, is made with llegal añejo mezcal, Rittenhouse rye, vermouth, mole bitters for $20. There it is on the menu! You even get it in a glass with “JF” on the side (no, you can’t keep the glass, though). This is a drink that whiskey lovers are going to LOVE. It’s strong with a peppery and caramel taste, and then it hits you as a burn in the back of the throat and the nose. If you want a sweet drink, this is not it. We couldn’t really taste the mezcal because the other flavors overpower it. The mole bitters also add an additional spiciness. So, yeah, you’re going to have to love the taste of whiskey to appreciate this. It’s VERY whiskey-forward So, thanks for the new drink, Jordan! And all the memories (and tears) we have hearing “Ready to begin…” in Magic Kingdom every night. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 13. Mickey and Minnie just debuted their cutest winter looks ever (and only a handful of Disney fans will get to see them!). DVC Lounge Disney Vacation Club members already enjoy a year filled with extra fun — from exclusive lounges and limited-capacity after-hours parties to special character meet-and-greets you won’t find anywhere else. And now, Disney has added another icy-cool perk to the list. A brand-new seasonal surprise has arrived at EPCOT, and it will have Disney fans buzzing… especially those who love a little “members-only” magic. Disney fans, get ready to swoon, because Mickey and Minnie have traded in their classic looks for adorable new winter ski outfits (and they’re every bit as charming as you’d expect!) Debuting inside Disney Vacation Club’s ImaginAtrium (A Member’s Lounge inside EPCOT), these cozy, slope-inspired ensembles are part of a special character experience available exclusively to eligible DVC Members enrolled in the Membership Magic Beyond option. DVC Lounge in EPCOT Disney announced the meet-and-greet with the caption: “Styled for the slopes! ‘Ski’ Mickey & Minnie Mouse inside Disney Vacation Club’s ImaginAtrium – A Member Lounge at EPCOT during a special character experience, available exclusively to eligible Members enrolled in the Membership Magic Beyond option.” And honestly? It’s spot-on. With bright winter patterns, pops of color, and a look straight out of a picturesque ski chalet, these outfits are a solid festive touch for the season. ©DisneyVacationClub If you’re unfamiliar with Disney Vacation Club or DVC, it’s Disney’s version of a flexible vacation ownership (timeshare) program. Members purchase points that can be used at DVC resort hotels or a wide network of destinations worldwide, offering the ability to customize vacations year after year using the set of purchased points for their hotel stays instead of cash stays. It’s designed for families who love returning to Disney’s parks and hotels and want more space, more flexibility, and long-term value. DVC center in EPCOT As we mentioned before, the limited-time Mickey and Minnie “Ski” meet-and-greet is tied to a DVC’s Membership Magic Beyond, an optional paid enhancement available to eligible members. This add-on unlocks extra perks beyond the standard membership benefits, including exclusive events, additional discounts, special priority access to member lounges, and premium experiences such as this winter character encounter. ©Disney It’s not the first time we’ve spotted special character meet and greets with Mickey and Minnie exclusive to this membership add-on, though! Mickey and Minnie were sporting a jet-setting look just a few short weeks ago, also as part of the exclusive Membership Magic Beyond option for DVC members, and we’re charmed to see them in another set of enchanting costumes! We’re also not sure how long Disney World is slated to keep this couple in these adorable outfits, so if you’re springing to see a winter/non-holiday version of Mickey and Minnie at Disney World, you’ll want to make plans to visit them soon. @disneyvacationclub via Instagram If you’re a DVC Member with Membership Magic Beyond, this is a can’t-miss opportunity. 14. If you’ve ever wandered through Disney World hungry, you know the options can be overwhelming — and that’s a good thing! From quick snacks you can grab in a flash, to comforting sit-down meals, to high-end dining experiences that feel like a treat, Disney has something for every appetite and every mood. Prince Eric’s Village Market We recently stopped by Prince Eric’s Village Market at Magic Kingdom to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Tucked just behind Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in the heart of Fantasyland, Prince Eric’s Village Market feels like a cozy seaside stall straight out of The Little Mermaid’s world. It’s typically open from 11 AM to around 5 PM or 6 PM, depending on the date you visit. Prince Eric’s Village Market The stand blends perfectly into the surrounding storybook village, with rustic wood details, nautical touches, and open-air charm. It’s the kind of place you can wander up to between attractions for something quick and refreshing — whether that’s a chilled slush on a sunny Florida afternoon or a light snack to power through the rest of your park day. Prince Eric’s Village Market Keep in mind, though, that this is a true snack stand — meaning you won’t find any tables or chairs around here. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here is fairly straightforward and made up mostly of snack items, with a few popular snacks peppered in, too. The Turkey Leg serves as your entree here, while the snacks also have a great walkability score on our count. The beverages are mostly slushy options, and bottled soda or water. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the popular Turkey Leg for $16.99. It’s a roasted turkey leg served with chips as a side. It’s become a highly sought-after snack for folks visiting Disney World and is almost as synonymous with the parks as Disney popcorn or DOLE Whips. Turkey Leg and chips First of all, we can’t deny that this thing is expensive — $17 for a turkey leg is a little ridiculous. But, it is MASSIVE and certainly shareable for a hearty snack. It’s smoky, salty, and savory, which is pretty much exactly what you want in a turkey leg. Texturally, it’s a mixed bag. Most of the meat we had was pretty moist, but the outer bits can get a little too crispy and hard, making the experience slightly unpleasant for us — but to each their own. Turkey legs are not for the faint of heart! A classic We needed a whole meal here, so we also grabbed the Jumbo Pretzel with cheese for $13.49. This is a pretzel almost as big as your head served with a cup of cheese sauce. Jumbo Pretzel with Cheese This is a HUGE step up from a plain ol’ Mickey pretzel (though we do love how cute they are). It was served warm and was perfectly soft on the inside with that nice crust on the outside. Our biggest complaint is that there wasn’t enough salt on it, but your mileage may vary with that here. We loved the cheese — it was a bit more than your average plastic cheese. It had an herby flavor to it, so we’re pretty sure they add some spices and seasonings to it. We’d definitely recommend grabbing this pretzel here as opposed to any of the snack carts with Mickey pretzels and packaged cheese! Cheese! We had to wash it all down with a specialty drink, of course! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Seaside Serenade for $6.75. This is made of a piña colada slushy topped with curaçao syrup and blue boba pearls. Disney loves some blue curaçao, and in this case, we think it totally works with the piña colada situation going on here. It’s topped with whipped cream, which promptly melted in the Florida heat. Still, though, this was enjoyable and refreshing with major tropical vibes going on. We don’t think the boba really added much to the drink, but it would be fun for kiddos! Seaside Serenade So, is this spot worth a stop? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want a healthy snack in Disney World: It’s true! Disney sells fruit, too! You don’t have to load up on carbs and sugar all day if you don’t want to – just pop over here for a quick apple or some grapes. You’re looking for a grab-and-go option: It doesn’t get much easier than this. This market was designed for convenience. It’s easy to visit, quick to check out, and full of grab-and-go snacks. You want to see what it’s like to eat a giant turkey leg: Admit it, you’re a little curious. Those giant turkey legs aren’t for everyone, but they do have some serious fans. If you’re Team Turkey Leg, this is where to get it! You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want a unique Disney snack: Disney isn’t reinventing the wheel here. This is more of a utilitarian spot with the essentials, so check out a nearby snack stand if you want a more creative treat. You packed your own snacks: Did you know that you can pack your own snacks? You’ll probably get a much better deal on apples and grapes if you use a grocery delivery service, rather than overpaying for fruit in Disney World. The smell of turkey legs makes you sick: Like we said, giant turkey legs aren’t for everyone. You’ll see (and smell) a lot of them if you choose to eat here. Don’t say we didn’t warn ya! Overall Do we think you need to go out of your way for Prince Eric’s Village Market? No, not really (unless you want a solid pretzel and cheese). But, if you’re craving a snack and you’re nearby this spot, we do think it’s a good option — especially if you’re after something not fried or heavy, like the grapes or pickle-in-a-pouch you can get here. 16. When you’re in Disney World, you’re faced with an onslaught of different souvenirs. There’s apparel of all different kinds, tons of pins, magnets, water bottles, mugs — you name it, and it’s probably there! Loungefly Wall That’s not even taking into account the special merchandise that arrives in the park for anniversaries, special events, after hours events, parties, and more. When you budget for your trip, you’re likely factoring in grabbing at least one souvenir, but how do you know what’s REALLY worth grabbing? We asked our readers on Facebook, some of whom are some pretty harsh Disney critics, what souvenirs they’ve grabbed before that have made it on their list of favorites, and some of their responses may surprise you. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Mugs We saw multiple of our readers say that mugs, or specialty cups from some of their favorite spots, are souvenirs they adore and use very often. Reader Jim Beard said, “I got the Nautilus tiki mug at the Tiki Terrace last May. It was the only item that I planned to get, and it was the only item I left with. And I love it.” Mug wall! This makes a lot of sense to us, especially if you’re someone who drinks coffee in the morning or just loves displaying your mugs. We find that the best souvenirs are the ones that you use most often, because each time you grab it, it reminds you of your trip. Therefore, if you use mugs a lot, this is a fantastic choice! If you want to grab one for yourself, but won’t be in the parks soon, there are tons that you can grab online! Check them out online! Magnets Lots of surfaces are magnetic in our houses — the fridge, dishwasher, microwave, our cars, etc., and one of the best ways to display your love of Disney, or other things, is by grabbing magnets and placing them where you can see them every day. Reader Jennifer Denty shared, “Fridge magnets from each resort I stay at. I have other more expensive souvenirs, but the small fridge magnets just spark joy each time I get something to eat/drink.” Disneyland Hotel magnet Imagine looking at the magnets that remind you of your beloved hotel stays each time you use the fridge, dishwasher, or microwave! Since they’re things you use pretty much every day, you’ll be reminded of the magic of Disney multiple times a day. Maybe you’ll choose to grab magnets from the parks you’ve gone to, or the special events you’ve visited. Whatever you choose, the magic will be right in front of you each day! Again, there are SO many magnets that you can grab online if you’re not in the parks soon — check them out! Check them out online! Christmas Ornaments While you only use Christmas ornaments one time each year (well, most people only use them one time a year, we do know people who keep up their trees year-round), we had some of our readers say they’ve never regretted buying a Christmas ornament for each trip they take. Merry Menagerie Ornament In fact, that’s exactly what Reader Caron Spears Tindoll said. She wrote, “I buy a Christmas ornament every trip! We have 7 I think.” How special it is to put up your tree each year and be reminded of your magical trips by just looking at the tree! It also may serve as a reminder for how long you have until your next trip, or perhaps it encourages you to keep going in “normal” life, because your next Disney trip could be coming soon! Free ornament from Jollywood Nights If you want to check out some of the ornaments available online, you can still grab some ahead of the holiday season so you can put them on your tree! Check them out online! We love hearing about how you experience Disney World, and what your favorite parts of the parks are, so give us a follow on Facebook so you can reply to our upcoming posts and potentially be featured in a post! 17. Disney World is full of surprises even when you think you know everything about it. Disney World Cast Member You can read every guide out there and still discover something new once you’re actually in the parks. That goes for guests and it definitely goes for the Cast Members who make the magic happen every day. There are a lot of behind the scenes rules that most visitors never see. Today we’re taking a look at a few of the most surprising ones so you can appreciate just how much work goes into keeping the show running smoothly. Costumes Cannot Leave Their Assigned Land Disney wants every land to feel like its own complete world which means the people who work in those areas must match the story. Cast Members are not allowed to walk through one land while wearing a costume from another. Cast Member A Cast Member in a Frontierland outfit cannot stroll through Tomorrowland on their way to lunch. Instead, they take backstage routes to keep the illusion alive for guests. Cast Members Must Use Backstage Routes If you have ever wondered why you never see someone in a Liberty Square costume wandering by Space Mountain, it is because Cast Members are trained to stay “in show.” They use backstage paths and utilidors whenever possible. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Cast Members It keeps the storytelling consistent and prevents visual moments that could break the immersion. Even quick errands are done backstage so that no guest sees something that contradicts the themed environment. Costume Pieces Cannot Be Worn Off Property A Cast Member costume is considered part of the show, and it cannot be worn outside the parks or resorts under any circumstances. That includes quick stops at Disney Springs or grabbing lunch after a shift. Even a small piece of a costume counts. Cast Member If a Cast Member has on their work shoes or a themed jacket, they need to remove it before leaving the property. This rule protects the integrity of the costume and keeps it from appearing in contexts that would confuse or mislead guests. Name Tags and IDs Must Come Off Immediately When Off the Clock You might not realize how carefully controlled Cast Member identification is. The moment their shift ends, the name tag and blue ID have to come off. A Cast Member in Hollywood Studios Disney does not want guests approaching off duty employees for assistance, and it also helps separate personal time from show time. If you ever spot someone with the classic oval name tag outside the parks, they are probably headed to work or just forgot to put it away. The Disney Look Still Comes With Strict Rules Disney relaxed its appearance policy a few years ago, but Cast Members still follow a long list of guidelines. Tattoos must be a certain size and always family friendly. Hair color has to stay within natural shades. Nails cannot extend too far past the fingertip and designs must remain simple. Piercings and body modifications are also limited. The incredible Joel! These guidelines ensure that the overall appearance of each Cast Member fits the environment they are part of, whether that is Main Street, Jungle Cruise, or a signature dining restaurant. Cast Member Park Admission Has Special Restrictions Yes, Cast Members get park access, but it is not as simple as showing up and tapping in. They follow blockout dates and must make Park Pass Reservations. Certain days are included and certain days are not. Some parks remain unavailable during busier seasons. Magic Kingdom Cast Member Even with the flexibility that comes with working for Disney, Cast Members have to plan their park time just like guests do. There Is a Limit on How Many Alcoholic Drinks They Can Sell Service Cast Members have strict guidelines around alcohol sales. They can only sell two alcoholic drinks per transaction, and they must check for signs of intoxication before completing a sale. Cast Members This rule is meant to keep guests safe and maintain a family friendly environment. It can sometimes lead to uncomfortable moments for the Cast Member, but it is a key part of keeping the parks enjoyable for everyone around you. Calling Out Sick Means Staying Home, No Exceptions One of the most surprising rules is the expectation that if a Cast Member calls out sick, they must stay away from the parks entirely. If they are spotted enjoying a day in Disney World while on a sick day, it can result in termination. This protects the integrity of the call out system and prevents misuse of the benefits that come with working for the company. Disney Cast Members As always, Cast Members are the heart of Disney World and a big part of why the magic feels so effortless. Their rulebook may be a lot longer than most guests realize, but every guideline helps keep the parks running smoothly while preserving the experience we all love. If you’re as obsessed with Disney details as we are, keep following Disney Food Blog because we’re always digging up the behind-the-scenes secrets that make your trips even better! 21. Here at Disney Food Blog, we’re always sleuthing for new Disney details, and one way we do that is by checking permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering! ©bioreconstruct on X This new permit could indicate that projects at Magic Kingdom may be coming sooner than we thought. One permit is filed under Project K and consists of “construction of two buildings and associated parking, sidewalks, utilities, and stormwater conveyance,” and “the two existing dry retention ponds onsite will be modified, one to be a dry detention pond and the other to a wet detention pond.” ©bioreconstruct on X While nothing is officially confirmed, it’s likely these are offices for construction and Imagineering teams, based on the locations shown on the map. It’s close to Magic Kingdom parking, so it’s possible the offices are for the two new lands coming to the park. ©South Florida Water Management District One of the two lands coming is Piston Peak, the Cars-themed land. This area is coming to the permanently closed Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. The river has been drained, and with some overhead shots, we can see that Disney is working on clearing the land. Clearing the area is usually the first thing we see when new projects are being built. Construction Villains Land is going behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, close to the new Piston Peak, and while we don’t have opening timelines for either, building an office encourages the idea that Disney wants to start working on the site more actively. The offices are usually only built when Disney is ready for a team to be close to the land every day. ©bioreconstruct on X We’ll be keeping an eye on this project to see what happens, but in the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more. 24. Something new is coming to Disney World…okay, well, a lot of new things are coming to Disney World, but we want to chat about something new coming to Disney Springs. ©LEVEL99 Back in February 2025, we learned that LEVEL99 would likely be taking over the building that was once the NBA Experience in Disney Springs. In September, we finally got confirmation that this was actually happening, and shortly after that, we started seeing signs of construction around the building, complete with a LEVEL99 marquee. Well, now, we have an idea of when this new experience will open: 2026. Disney recently revealed a list of everything new coming to Disney World in 2026, and mentioned LEVEL99 would also open next year (and considering how close we now ARE to 2026, this is BIG news). LEVEL99 is a gaming experience where you’ll “work with your friends to discover new challenges, collect all the stars, find digital treasure and master new experiences.” So it’s part escape room, part obstacle course, and part arcade, all wrapped up in one big package. ©LEVEL99 The LEVEL99 in Disney Springs will be the largest of its kind with 45,000 square feet across two stories. You’ll find three kinds of games in the LEVEL99 experience, including Rooms that are cooperative games for teams of 2-6 players. Room themes will be based on physical, skill, or mental categories, so they’ll challenge you in every way imaginable. Duels are challenges against other players. Art Hunts are scavenger hunts to search for art throughout the LEVEL 99 space. ©LEVEL99 LEVEL99 will also feature dining with a chef-crafted menu, including the experience’s signature Detroit-style pizza. We visited the LEVEL99 location in Natick, Mass., to check out the dining for ourselves, so you can read that review here. Full spread at LEVEL99 at Natick, Massachusetts We’ll be visiting LEVEL99 as soon as it opens, so you’ll want to stay tuned to DFB for more. 25. Have you been staying up to date with all the transformations coming to Hollywood Studios in Disney World? There’s a LOT going on. ©Disney One area that I’m excited for is Walt Disney Studios, which is taking over Animation Courtyard and Star Wars: Launch Bay. Disney said a new show will be coming to the space, and we finally got new details! Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! will debut this summer at Walt Disney Studios. There will be upbeat tunes and opportunities to dance with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live in Disneyland Mickey and Minnie will be going on a road trip to find some of their best pals, like Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto, for a party. Let’s dance! If the show sounds familiar, it’s because it’s currently at Disneyland Resort! We’re so excited to have a bit of Disneyland magic on this side of the country. Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure opened in May 2025 and has been staying open during the construction of Walt Disney Studios. This show is also family-friendly and lets kids enjoy the story of The Little Mermaid on stage with fun effects like bubbles, black light, and even a moment where Ariel floats across the stage.
