  3. No one wants to get sick — but especially while they’re on vacation! Disney World might be the Most Magical Place on Earth, but it also can be a hotbed for germs. ©Disney There’s a new flu strain going around right now, called “subclade K,” and it’s spreading pretty rapidly ahead of the official flu season. If you’ve got upcoming travel plans to Disney World or otherwise — here’s what you need to know. Flu season isn’t quite in full effect in the United States just yet, but that hasn’t stopped a new strain of the virus from spreading, according to TODAY. A new version of influenza A H3N2 is potentially vaccine-resistant due to its genetic mutations. Japan Pavilion The mutated H3N2 strain, known as “subclade K,” has spread rapidly throughout countries in the Northern hemisphere, including Japan and the United Kingdom. Japan declared an influenza epidemic following the surge, and U.K. health officials have warned this could be one of the worst winters yet as the strain spreads. UK Pavilion In addition, the virus has been spreading in Canada, which has caused scientists to warn about a potential mismatch between the H3N2 in the current 2025-2026 flu vaccine and the subclade K strain. It’s now projected to become the dominant strain worldwide. H3N2 subclade K has already been detected in more than half of U.S. states so far, per the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) database. Lags in data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have made it difficult to track trends in real time, according to experts. Canada Pavilion at EPCOT According to the CDC’s latest “FluView” surveillance report from the week of November 22nd, flu activity remains low nationally, but cases are increasing. H3N2 is considered more severe across all age groups, but especially among the elderly and young children. So far, no flu-related deaths have been reported in the U.S. It can be nice to save before your trip even begins! As of December 4th, instances of subclade K have been submitted to GISAID from at least 29 states and Washington, D.C., including: Alaska California Colorado Connecticut Delaware Florida Hawaii Indiana Iowa Louisiana Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Missouri Montana New Jersey New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Pennsylvania South Carolina Texas Vermont Virginia Washington Wisconsin Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios The strain mutated too late for scientists to update this season’s flu vaccine, though it will still offer protection throughout flu season and is especially important for high-risk individuals — the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and immunocompromised persons. The symptoms of the subclade K strain include: Fever Chills Body aches Headache Extreme fatigue Congestion or runny nose Coughing ©VeryWell So, what can you do if you’re traveling during flu season? In addition to getting the flu vaccine, the CDC recommends you: Test if you have symptoms. If positive, isolate for 24 hours or until you’re fever-free. Avoid sick people. Wear a mask in crowded, indoor spaces. Wash your hands frequently. Cover coughs and sneezes. ©Village Pharmacy If you’re flying, wear a mask in the airport and on the plane — studies have shown that this can decrease your chances of getting infected drastically. Wash your hands regularly or use hand sanitizer when that might not be an option, and consider bringing disinfecting wipes with you to wipe down surfaces on planes and in your hotel room. Mask up when flying If you start feeling sick at Disney World, you should head back to your hotel room to rest — and to stay away from other people. This can help prevent the spread. Keep in mind that Disney World has first aid centers, and the Cast Members there can help you and give you advice on what to do. There are also tons of virtual options available in the My Disney Experience App that can assist you with a multitude of different issues. You’ll find options such as Athletic Training resources, runDisney resources, Emergency Room resources, Urgent Care and Virtual Care, a Care Concierge Call Center, Vacation Planning resources, and Equipment and Prescription Delivery. The My Disney Experience app has an entire section dedicated to AdventHealth resources ©Disney If you do need to go to an Urgent Care, complimentary transportation to the AdventHealth Centra Care Urgent Care, located INSIDE Disney World property at 12500 S. Apopka Vineland Rd, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, is offered to Disney World Resort guests. To organize transport, contact First Aid, Resort Front Desk Cast Members, or call AdventHealth at (407) 939-7480. 4. One of the best parts of staying at a Disneyland hotel is the theming. Now, you have three choices for a stay at Disneyland, including the Disneyland Hotel with its fun fireworks light-up bed headboards. There’s also Disney’s Grand Californian, which makes you feel like you’re staying in a California lodge. ©Disney The most fun hotel in Disneyland, though, just might be Pixar Place Hotel. Well, that hotel just leveled up two of its suites with Coco and The Incredibles theming — and we’ve got your first look at these INCREDIBLE (pun intended) rooms. Disney just announced that a new Coco suite and a new The Incredibles suite are now available for booking at Pixar Place Hotel. Let’s check out the Coco Suite! ©Disney The Coco suite features a beautiful fireplace, as well as rooms that Miguel and his family might want to stay in. The bedroom even has the guitar from the movie hanging on the wall, as well as beautiful Mexican-inspired decor and bedding. ©Disney There’s also a gorgeous living area with a sofa and TV, as well as a kitchen table and chairs. The rugs, the furniture, the valances on the windows
it all makes us want to start singing “Remember Me.” ©Disney There’s also a kitchen. But seriously, look at all those gorgeous pops of color and that stunning artwork. And y’all, that DOOR. ©Disney The Incredibles rooms have a lot of fun superhero details. Outside the room is a hand scanner, although we’re guessing you probably won’t actually USE it, and a room key is still required. ©Disney The living area is inspired by the living room of the Parr House seen in the movies. It’s got a whole modern superhero vibe. ©Disney There’s also a super fun retro futuristic kitchen inspired by the movies. ©Disney The bedroom also has some fun details, including some fun news articles and magazine covers on the walls all about the Parr Family and their superhero adventures. You’ll also find Bob and Helen’s wedding photo, as well as some family photos of the Parrs. ©Disney You’ll also find a lot of Incredibles-inspired artwork on the walls throughout the suite. ©Disney These suites are available to book now, so now might be time to tick “stay in a Coco-themed suite” off your bucket list. 5. Magic Kingdom is one of those places where everything looks cute, magical, and suddenly essential. Magic Kingdom Entrance You can plan your budget, walk through those gates, and instantly feel like you need to buy every single sparkly thing that catches your eye. Pros know the truth, though, and that truth is that not every souvenir is worth the money. If you want to stretch your budget and avoid regrets later, these are the souvenirs seasoned Disney fans typically skip in Magic Kingdom. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Mickey Balloons Mickey balloons are one of the most iconic sights in Magic Kingdom. They float above Main Street, they look adorable in photos, and kids get wide-eyed the minute they see them. Tiny characters balloon design is back The problem is how expensive they are and how difficult they are to manage for the rest of the day. Pros skip them because carrying a balloon through crowds, ride queues, and buses
well, let’s say it’s not exactly fun. If you love the look, take a photo instead and save yourself the hassle. Note: You can get them deflated at the Disney Store at MCO if you want your balloon to come home with you! Autograph Books Autograph books feel like a classic rite of passage, and they can be fun for kids meeting characters for the first time. 2025 Autograph Book One of the reasons pros usually leave them behind because they tend to get tossed aside the minute the trip is over. Families often end up with stacks of half-filled books that never get looked at again. If you want a longer-lasting option, have characters sign something practical like a photo mat, tumbler, or a tote bag. Our signed water bottle! Those tend to feel more special over time and do not end up forgotten in a drawer. If you still want one, they can be purchased for cheaper on Amazon. View on Amazon Large Character Pens You will see these oversized character pens all over the shops. They look adorable, and they seem like a cute way to level up the autograph experience. Pros usually skip them because they are bulky, they are not comfortable to hold, and they run out of ink quickly. Thor Pen Kids struggle to write with them, and parents end up carrying them around. A regular pen works better for autographs, and it is usually something you already have on hand. Bubble Wands Bubble wands bring instant magic the moment you turn them on, and kids absolutely love them. The downside is that the novelty fades fast, and the bubbles can create a slippery mess around walkways and strollers. Bubble Wand Pros tend to skip these because once the bubbles stop working or the batteries die, you are left with an expensive toy that does not do much. They can also leak in bags and on clothing, which is not a fun surprise later in the day. If your child really wants one, a cheaper option is picking up one from Amazon and bringing it with you to the park. View on Amazon Ponchos Florida weather can turn rainy without warning, so it is easy to grab a poncho at the first sign of clouds. Pros know that the Magic Kingdom ponchos sold in the parks come with a high price tag, and the quality isn’t exactly the greatest. Frogg Toggs Poncho Bringing your own reusable poncho from home usually works better. You get something sturdier that costs a lot less and can be folded back into your park bag without falling apart. You can pick one up from Amazon and bring it with you to the park. We love this FROGG TOGGs option because it is inexpensive, comes with a bag to put your poncho in so all your items don’t get wet after a downpour, and it doesn’t feel like a plastic bag when you wear it! View on Amazon Umbrellas Just like with ponchos, you’ll find umbrellas in many Magic Kingdom stores on rainy days. They are small and easy to grab, but that convenience comes with drawbacks. Pros don’t bother with them because they can be flimsy in strong winds and don’t provide much coverage. BAODINI Travel Mini Umbrella A compact umbrella from home usually works better and does not force you to buy a second one later in the trip. You can pick one up from Amazon and bring it with you. We like this one because it is perfect for UV as well! It’s also really small and easy to travel with. View on Amazon Making smart purchases in Magic Kingdom takes a little practice, and even we long-time fans admit that we get caught by the occasional cute souvenir. You can avoid the most common regrets by skipping these items and saving your money for treats or collectibles that will last long after your trip is over. Staying thoughtful about what you buy can make your day easier to manage and your suitcase easier to pack. Until then, for more Disney news, keep following DFB! 7. Turtle Talk With Crush has been a cornerstone of EPCOT’s Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion for nearly two decades. While the interactive attraction is a treat for all ages, there’s something unspoken that older guests need to keep in mind. The Seas with Nemo and Friends The long-running attraction, which was developed as part of an interactive character intuitive Disney Imagineering pursued in the 2000s, allows audiences to interact with a real-time animated version of the totally tubular turtle from Finding Nemo, voiced by a Cast Member out of sight. While Turtle Talk has been around long enough to have cross-generational appeal, there is a “rule” that older guests really should adhere to when enjoying the show: Remember it’s mainly for kids. Turtle Talk with Crush When entering the theater, sit towards the back rows of benches, and certainly don’t sit on the floor space reserved for kids. Once the show starts, allow the kids to lead the interactions with the character. Seating for the parents! Now, on occasion, Crush may interact with older guests as every performance is different, and if the character does, respond back. Once again, we’re certainly not saying older guests shouldn’t enjoy the experience, or feel free to take part in it on some level, just bear in mind what the attraction’s target audience. Turtle Talk with Crush Turtle Talk with Crush remains one of the most unique character experiences at Walt Disney World, even if there is an unspoken rule that older guests need to keep in mind. 8. All aboard! Cast are celebrating a century of steam power as two of Magic Kingdom’s beloved trains — the Roger E. Broggie and Walter E. Disney — mark their 100th birthdays this year. These historic locomotives continue to delight Guests and carry Walt’s lifelong love for trains, reflecting Disney’s ongoing investment in preserving the experiences that have inspired generations. Originally built in 1925, both trains spent decades in service long before arriving at Walt Disney World. Their stories intertwine with Walt’s own fascination for railroads — a passion that helped spark the dream of Disneyland and later, the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Through ongoing enhancements and meticulous restoration, the Walt Disney World Railroad remains a shining example of how Disney continues to blend innovation with tradition — honoring the past while keeping the magic moving forward. Behind the scenes, the dedicated team of Cast Members, including Transportation Engineering Service Manager, Lou Berkheiser, restored and maintained the Walt Disney World Railroad brought these engines back to life through years of thorough and precise refurbishment. Lou has been a Cast Member for more than 35 years and has “always had a love for trains,” finding magic in “carrying on one of Walt’s original passions.”  Lou described the refurbishment process as watching a train come apart piece by piece so it can shine again — a careful and detailed restoration that blends engineering precision with tradition. The multi-year effort involves dismantling the locomotive down to its smallest components, restoring or even hand-fabricating parts that no longer exist, and applying every finish with detailed craftsmanship — a level of care that keeps these 100-year-old engines alive and steaming for future generations. The Roger E. Broggie — which returned to service in late 2023 — showcases the rare art of hand-painted detailing and gold leafing. Lou explained every stripe, number, and letter was carefully applied by hand, preserving an “authentic craftsmanship” rarely seen today. This attention to detail reflects Disney’s continued commitment to preserving and enhancing the timeless experiences that connect generations of Guests.  As their whistle echoes down Main Street, U.S.A., and the gleam of gold trim on their tenders sparkles, these trains are more than just park icons — they’re living pieces of Disney heritage. For Cast Members like Lou, “it’s not just a job — it’s an adventure,” to work at a place that embodies Walt and his legacy.  The magic of Disney artistry and passion continues the spirit of Walt’s railroad to steam ahead into its next hundred years.  The post Honoring 100 Years of Magic Kingdom’s Steam Trains appeared first on Disney Experiences. 11. The holiday season in Disney World can be a little busy, and we get it. The holidays are just SO SPECIAL in Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom, which is why so many people want to visit during this time. Christmas in Magic Kingdom That’s especially true on days like Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, and well, if you have plans to visit Magic Kingdom on those days, you might just be out of luck if you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder. We’re going to tell you why. As you may know, Disney World Annual Passholders still have to make park pass reservations to visit the parks. That means that only a certain number of reservations are available at any given time. Well, on two specific days coming up soon, park pass reservations are entirely gone for Magic Kingdom for Annual Passholders: December 25th and December 31st, aka Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. ©Disney Now, it’s no secret why these are two of the busiest days in Disney World of the entire year. Who doesn’t want to spend Christmas Day in Magic Kingdom, one of the few days you can usually enjoy both the Christmas parade and Christmas fireworks without a ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party? Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmatime Parade On New Year’s Eve, Magic Kingdom also has special fireworks, and yes, that’s a big draw for people. It makes sense that folks would want to ring in 2026 in Magic Kingdom! Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks Park pass reservations being gone is a good indication that those are going to be two very busy days in Magic Kingdom. If you are visiting the park as a regular guest, you’ll want to get there early and probably stay there all day. You’ll also want to bring your patience, use Mobile Order for food (if available), and stake out spots for the parade and fireworks early. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 13. When you’re heading to Disney World, there are lots of different things to think about. What hotel are you going to stay at? How many days will you spend in the parks? What’s the weather going to be like, and what do you need to pack to be prepared? The questions go on and on. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine That’s where we come in to help! You hear us talk all the time about what’s important, or a “must have” for your vacation, and we do some intense research to ensure we’ve tried out the products ourselves and they’re REALLY worth the cost. Recently, you may have seen us, as well as some other Disney goers, talk about something called a Dreamegg and tell you it’s TOTALLY needed for your trip. But what is it, exactly, and how is it going to make your trip better? DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get A Great Night’s Sleep No Matter Where You Are Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine The Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine may look tiny, and like it may not make much of a difference when you’re trying to get the best sleep you can in Disney World (or anywhere, for that matter), but this thing is tiny but mighty! If you want a truly peaceful night’s sleep, nap, or just a way to rest your eyes, this will make it much easier by masking other noises around you. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine This thing is around $15 solo; when bundled with a second in multiple color combos, it’s around $30, and it can even come with a zippered travel case for around $25. Therefore, this is ABSOLUTELY worth the money! This would make an ideal present for a new parent, a college student, as a stocking stuffer, a frequent traveler, small kids, those with insomnia or difficulty getting to sleep, etc. There are truly endless possibilities here. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine This thing is so small it can fit in the palm of your hand. It has the potential to be hooked up to a charger, but also has a battery. It’s got 35 different volume levels, comes in a variety of different colors, and has 16 different sounds ranging from DIFFERENT kinds of fans and fan speeds, to standard white noise, soundscapes, waterfalls, rain, birds, lullabies, and beyond. It’s also equipped with a timer button that can be set to either 30, 60, or 90-minute intervals, or set not to cut off until you turn it off when you wake. It also uses the same USB-C charger that most newer phone models have switched to using, so you don’t need to get an all-new charger. Super small Our reporter not only used it herself, but asked her kids to try it out too, and they loved it so much, they asked to use it the next night! We genuinely noticed quickly how well we were able to sleep after using it after a few nights, and we never want to sleep without it. While we think this is important for any trip to Disney World, no matter where you’re staying, that’s especially true if you’re staying at a Disney World Value Resort, which are most known for having the thinnest walls of all the Disney World hotels. Grab yourself one here! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news and the essentials we feel are truly needed for your upcoming trip, so stay tuned to DFB! View the full article
  14. Here at DFB, we make sure to stay in the loop with theme park news around the world, and there are some big projects on the horizon. ©BON We already covered the opening of Epic Universe in 2025, but we’re excitedly anticipating the new kid-focused theme park from Universal next. We’ve also been keeping an eye out for new theme parks announced by companies other than Disney and Universal, and in 2026, there’s a very interesting offering opening in Mexico! BON (Beauty of Nature) Luxury Theme Park is set to open in the fall of 2026, run by VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta. The tagline for the park is “ultimate entertainment meets ultimate nature,” and the preview pictures on the website? They’re stunning! ©BON Some of the highlights of this new theme park are the Cirque du Soleil LUDÕ dinner show, where you’ll dine in a water-themed theater with a wrap-around aquarium; character appearances by mythical “Wonder Creatures”; and 23 brand-new attractions. ©BON For Disney fans, the Vista Wheel coming to the park sounds a lot like the Pixar Pal-A-Round at Disney California Adventure, with your choice of stationary or moving gondolas. And speaking of gondolas, they have their own version of the Skyliner: the SkyDream Parks Gondola, which takes you high above the park for a bird’s-eye view. ©BON Sounds like an awesome place to visit, right? Well, if you want to stop by in the first year that the park is open, there’s a catch. Only resort guests at VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta will be allowed to visit the park in its first year of operation. So start planning those trips now! 15. Amazon has never failed us when it comes to finding the best Disney essentials, but this bag for Disney World is on a whole other level! ODODOS Daily Sling Bag We found the perfect small park bag, and it’s made our Disney days SO MUCH easier. If you’ve got a Disney trip planned, we seriously think you should consider grabbing this beforehand — especially for the price it’s being sold! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. We love the ODODOS Daily Sling Bag A must-grab! If there’s one thing you need from Amazon, it’s this ODODOS Daily Sling Bag! Looking for a small bag to carry around the park while staying organized? This is for you! We’ll let you know right now, it’s definitely worth the money. The bag is small but somehow SO roomy. There are 3 pockets to use — a main pocket, a smaller inner pocket that doesn’t zip, and a tiny front pocket. The straps are also adjustable, and there’s a small pocket on the back. Easy to organize! We were pleasantly surprised with this bag. We had no expectations for it, but it fit SO MUCH compared to what we anticipated. The biggest pro to the bag is feeling like we can carry everything we need, have extra room, and the fact that we’re not lugging around a giant bag. To be honest, there isn’t anything we’d change about it! ODODOS Daily Sling Bag! If we had to be nitpicky and choose one complaint, it won’t fit things like a poncho or umbrella easily. However, that’s expected with a small bag. If you need a bag slightly bigger than a fanny but smaller than a full backpack, bring this — it made our trip SO much easier. Not to mention it was SUPER cute, comfortable, and helpful. It was perfect for a phone, wallet, and cords. Back pocket We think it’s of much better quality than other bags we’ve purchased, and it fits a lot more than others have as well. When we’re looking for a bag, we want a high-quality material, an easy-to-move strap, and lots of compartments for organization. This had all of that! 16. Disneyland just announced that a NEW Magic Key Pass will debut on January 13th, 2026, at Disneyland Resort! Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland The new pass will be called the Explore Key pass and will allow you admission to the parks on select dates. Currently, you can purchase the Inspire and Believe Key passes. Beginning January 13th, the Imagine Key and the new Explore Key pass will be available for purchase. Magic Key passes are the annual passes at Disneyland Resort. The Explore Key pass will cost $999. Benefits of the Explore Key pass include: reservation-based Park Hopper admission with the ability to hold up to 4 theme park reservations, up to 10% off select merchandise and dining, 25% off parking at the Toy Story Parking area, and 25% off the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass. If you currently have an Enchant Key pass, you can keep it until it expires, and when it is time to renew, you have the option to renew into a different pass type. The benefits of the new Explore Key pass and the old Enchant Key pass appear to be the same, but we are thinking the blockout dates might change. 18. Visiting Disney Parks in other countries is an interesting experience, to say the least. While you still feel the Disney magic that made you fall in love with the parks in the first place, there are a lot of different twists that remind you that you’re not at your home park. “it’s a small world” Even when you’re riding your favorite attractions, it’s a little different that reminds you why you went to an international park in the first place. We especially felt that when we rode “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Paris. It’s probably the same everywhere, right? Well, think again! “it’s a small world” is a ride that takes you through different countries and cultures on a small boat playing the very iconic “it’s a small world” song (and yes, it does still get stuck in your head in a different language.” Inside In Disneyland Paris, it started off pretty similar to how we know it at Disneyland and Disney World. While the scenes are different, the countries are represented pretty similarly. We even saw our favorite hippo! Hippo! The figures are in a similar style, too. “it’s a small world” Then we hit the America section. In Disneyland and Disney World, there isn’t a dedicated American scene, so we were able to get a taste of what Disneyland Paris thinks represents America. Start of the America section There was a classic Old West scene with a covered wagon, mountains, cacti, and cowboys. I like how the horse was enjoying the campfire. There were also Native American representations. Old West Another part depicted farm lands alongside a huge ship. It looked like a combination of a cruise ship and a pirate ship, but the figures on board seemed to be wearing sailor outfits. That’s a lot going on In the back, there was the Hollywood sign, the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge, and a yellow taxi cab. Closer up One part that made me smile was the sports area. There are two figures, one holding ice cream in a baseball uniform and one wearing a football uniform with popcorn. I love the sign in the back that says “Rah!” Rah! Is this how you would represent America in “it’s a small world?” Tell us how you would do it in the comments, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more! 19. Disney World might be the Most Magical Place on Earth, but sometimes booking a hotel there can feel like stepping into a maze. Construction at the Beach Club There is so much happening at the resorts right now that even seasoned Disney fans can get caught off guard. Construction, refurbishments, transportation closures, and even pool downtime can seriously affect your trip if you do not know what to expect. If you are in the process of booking a hotel, here is everything you need to look out for before you hit confirm on that reservation. Watch for New Discounts and Double Check for Closures Disney updates its offers often, so new discounts can pop up while you are finalizing your plans. Not a bad view This is always worth watching, but the bigger issue right now is the sheer amount of refurbishment happening across the entire property. Hotel refurbishments, resort construction, and character-inspired makeovers are scheduled from now through 2027. These projects can take entire buildings or wings out of commission for weeks at a time. A closer look Before you book, you’ll want to check the resort’s construction schedule. Staying at a hotel with a closed pool or cranes right outside your window feels very different from staying somewhere that just wrapped up a refurbishment and has that fresh, updated energy. These things genuinely matter for the quality of your stay. We’re ready for this to be DONE! Keep in mind that some projects do not affect the hotel side of a resort. Disney has separate construction timelines for the DVC villas that do not always impact regular guests. If you are comparing resorts, make sure you know which updates will actually affect you. There is a lot happening, so here are the major current and upcoming projects you need to know about. Transportation Refurbishments Boat transportation to and from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is getting routine maintenance from January 12th through April 2026. The dock will be closed for part of January, but the project itself spans three months. Disney plans to increase bus service during this time, so expect changes to your normal transportation pattern if you stay there. Wilderness Lodge Boat Launch The Disney Skyliner will undergo full closures from January 25th through January 31st, 2026, and again in January 2027. These closures affect all Skyliner resorts. That includes Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Yacht Club, Beach Club, BoardWalk Inn, and BoardWalk Villas. Disney Skyliner We recommend avoiding Skyliner hotels during these windows since the buses can feel crowded and less efficient. Pool Closures and Major Resort Refurbishments Pools are a huge deal when you are staying at a Disney hotel, so you’ll want to pay close attention here. All Star Sports will have its Surfboard Bay Pool and kiddie pool closed from January through late April 2026. The smaller Grand Slam Leisure Pool will remain open, but it might feel crowded, especially during spring break season. Guests can use pools at the other All Star hotels, which is a helpful option if you need more space. Surfboard Bay Next, Animal Kingdom Lodge has an extended room refurbishment happening from now through early 2027. Kidani Village is first, followed by Jambo House. Amenities will stay open, but you might hear or see construction during daytime hours. The Samawati Springs Pool Slide is also currently closed for maintenance, so you will need to head to the Uzima Springs Pool if that is important to your family. Samawati Springs Pool at Kidani Village Beach Club Resort is undergoing exterior maintenance through 2027. This work can affect views and create some noise during the day. The good news is that Stormalong Bay has fully reopened after its own refurbishment and is looking better than ever. Stormalong Bay BoardWalk Inn began a large project in late 2025 that will continue throughout 2026. Also, the Luna Park Pool will also close in early 2027 for routine maintenance. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn The Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower are deep into a refurbishment that now runs through late 2027. This includes updates to select areas and temporary closures at the Bay Cove Pool from January through early May 2026. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Pop Century, Port Orleans Riverside, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian Village Resort all have ongoing room or exterior refurbishment projects, some running into 2027. In each case, most amenities remain open, but you will want to know exactly what part of the resort is affected during your travel dates. What You Should Do Before Booking Again, you’ll want to check for any new discounts, review the construction calendar for your resort, and look at pool and transportation closures. Also, make sure that the hotel you choose will still provide the specific experience you want, especially if relaxation and downtime are part of your Disney plan. Construction There is a lot happening across Disney World hotels right now, so taking a few extra minutes to double-check everything can make your entire trip feel smoother and more magical. 20. One of our favorite things to do on a Disneyland Resort visit is to EAT, and there are some places we absolutely love. Lamplight Lounge Mimosa Flight One of the most popular choices for dining in Disney California Adventure is Lamplight Lounge! This Pixar-themed spot can be a challenging reservation to snag, and their brunch is a fan-favorite. But it looks like it may be having a closure soon. According to the Disneyland Resort website, Lamplight Lounge and Lamplight Lounge Boardwalk Dining are listed on the refurbishment calendar starting on January 12th. If you look at the Lamplight Lounge page on the website, there are currently no hours listed for January 12th-15th, 2026. After the 15th, only dinner hours are listed (no brunch hours listed at this time). Lamplight Lounge Boardwalk Dining spread Lamplight Lounge Boardwalk Dining’s page doesn’t show hours from January 12th through the end of the calendar, which is currently listed through January 30th. Disney hasn’t confirmed any changes coming to either of these spaces or announced a closure yet. Lamplight Lounge Boardwalk Dining Based on the basic information available on the website, it looks like the restaurant may be closed for a few days for some kind of refurbishment. If Lamplight Lounge is only set to close from the 12th-15th, it likely can’t be any changes that are too major. As for brunch hours not being listed, we wouldn’t panic yet — we might see them back on the calendar closer to those dates. The menu Of course, we’ll keep monitoring the website, and we’ll be on the lookout for any official info from Disney directly. We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with whatever we learn. 24. Every career milestone at Disneyland Paris marks the beginning of a bold new era, whether you’ve been in the same department for years or have transitioned from role to role over the course of your tenure. And that’s quite my story! My name is Dorine, and I’m an Attraction Operator & Trainer at Disneyland Paris. My Disney journey began in 2018 when I first joined our Guest Flow teams in Disneyland Park as a temporary cast member. I helped launch the very first edition of “Pirates and Princesses Festival,” “The Lion King & Jungle Festival,” and more. In 2020, driven by a desire for growth and challenge, I moved to Walt Disney World thanks to the Cultural Representative Program for the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT. I returned to Disneyland Paris in 2021 and, since then, I’ve worked in many attractions: from it’s a small world to Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement ToquĂ©e de RĂ©my, or Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin! My next career milestone came as a heart-stopping surprise. This year, one September morning, my leader called me in and told me I had been chosen to be part of the opening Guest Flow team at World of Frozen! I was speechless, excited, honored, and already imagining the magic ahead. Fun fact: Frozen is one of my favorite Disney Animation stories! If I had to pick a character, I’d choose Anna: loyal, determined, bright, and solar. With of course a special mention to Olaf, who reminds us that with a little hope and magic, everything is possible! Plus, I also love warm hugs! Stepping into the 3-Day Cast Life Event When I heard about Journey Into Disney Adventure World: A Cast Life Event, my excitement skyrocketed. This three-day expo-style event followed the official announcements shared by Disneyland Paris at the press and media event on November 24 and offered over 5,000 Disneyland Paris cast members the chance to be some of the first to be immersed into the new experiences Disney Adventure World will soon present when it debuts on March 29, 2026. As a member of the new opening team, I knew I couldn’t miss the opportunity to be among the first to step into a historic transformation at Disneyland Paris. On November 26, I arrived early at Disney Village DĂŽme, where the event was taking place. The venue had been transformed into a glowing preview of what Disney Adventure World will soon become. Towering artwork, merchandise products, scale models, exclusive photo opportunities, food and beverage development concepts, and more awaited a crowd of passionate cast members willing to discover it all. The excitement was contagious! A First Look at New Merchandise, Food, and Entertainment After a breathtaking opening moment where Queen Elsa used her powers to bring the showroom to light, I began exploring each immersive station. Everywhere I looked, creativity was bursting to life. The atmosphere felt alive with thousands of cast members exploring the event, it felt like walking into a storybook that was just waiting to be read out loud. Early samples of merchandise, from intricate apparel inspired by Scandinavian motifs to sparkling collectibles, filled the decor in the area, including a life-size reproduction of several icons of future Disney Adventure World, where Disney characters popped by to surprise and welcome everyone. Further along, chefs proudly presented prototypes of the flavors that will soon become favorites at the Nordic Crowns Tavern or The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge. Stories can also be told through the richness of the flavors, the textures, and the carefully sourced ingredients. Everything looked incredible, and having the chance to hear from the chefs about the creative process was truly amazing! Did you know? Our chefs tested over 30 different recipes of mashed potatoes for the Nordic Crowns Tavern menu before they were completely satisfied with the result! At another area of the expo, models, storyboards, drones, and interactive elements of all sorts offered a glimpse of upcoming shows, such as the groundbreaking new nighttime spectacular, “Disney Cascade of Lights,” which I personally can’t wait to discover! One of the biggest highlights? A gondola from Raiponce Tangled Spin, the new attraction coming to Adventure Way, was installed by Walt Disney Imagineering teams for cast members to take photos! With the chance to step into such a whimsical vehicle for the first time, I felt immersed in the magic of the Festival of Lanterns and pictured myself boarding this future attraction beneath a sky illuminated with floating lanterns and the iconic song “I See the Light.” A Moment to Remember The moment that truly stayed with me happened when I reached the corner of the room, where the future costumes of the operational cast members of World of Frozen were displayed. It was the first time I was seeing the design I would soon wear: the colors, the Nordic patterns, the details
I was in awe! While I was admiring every little element, I suddenly noticed another cast member standing right beside me, just as mesmerized as me. We started talking and, to our surprise, we quickly realized that we were both going to be part of the opening Guest Flow team at World of Frozen. My new soon-to-be teammate, Enzo, shared the same spark in his eyes. It felt like destiny, surrounded by the costumes of our future adventures as Arendelle villagers, as we prepared to venture into an incredible new chapter in our Disney journeys. Many surprises sprinkled this already-magical journey, as the exploration session was paused to let Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse take over the central stage in their brand-new outfits. Soon, an array of favorite Disney characters and Super Heroes joined the group on-stage to mark the grand finale of this unique Disney Cast Life adventure. Standing in front of a close-to-real-life-size replica concept art of Arendelle, I could already imagine guests exploring the new land and the awe of fans seeing their favorite stories come alive. Being part of this major milestone for our resort is truly an honor and a one-of-a-kind experience that you can only find while working for Disney. With creative minds shaping these breathtaking new stories heading soon to Disney Adventure World, I was reminded of the real reason behind our role: everything we do here is about storytelling and about bringing joy. To know I’ll play a part in welcoming guests into Arendelle for the very first time gives me chills, and it’s a truly exciting prospect as we head into a new era at Disneyland Paris. With the grand opening approaching rapidly, I’m more ready than ever to help open the gates to a brand-new world and share with our guests an unforgettable adventure! Make sure you don’t miss my experience on the @DLPAmbassador official Instagram account and come back from March 29, 2026, for the next part of my journey into Disney Adventure World! Along with many other changes at MCO, construction is expected to start next year on the airport’s three-phase concession plan. These phases will “redevelop more than 200,000 square feet of space and add more than 40 new stores and restaurants.” Orlando International Airport This is going to be a LENGTHY period of construction phases at the airport, with planned openings from summer 2026 through late 2028 in terminals A and B.
