  8. In our Disney Doodles blog series, our team of Disney artists imagine what a character would enjoy most if they had the chance to visit Walt Disney World Resort. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Lock, Stock and Barrel from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” would do if they could visit Disney for some fall fun. According to her, “Lock, Stock and Barrel are expert trick or treaters. It’s easy to imagine them having fun collecting candy at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!” View the full article
  9. Port Orleans Resort, Riverside! And Ol’ Man Island, with its fabulous, amoeba-shaped pool! Muddy Rivers View Nestled right by Ol’ Man Island is the home-y and rustic Muddy Rivers Pool Bar, and it’s everything you want out of a pool bar in the Bayou. (Haven’t thought about what you’d want out of a pool bar in the bayou? Let us help you visualize it.) There’s wood everywhere you look, including exposed rafters. At the base of the bar are weathered vertical wood panels in a variety of colors, creating the feeling that this bar has been pieced together over time. Muddy Rivers Pool Bar It’s just that laid back vibe that makes Muddy Rivers so well loved. Guests have no problem strolling over from their lounge chairs to grab their beverage of choice. Drinks include an assortment of beers, Woodbridge wines, and Reso Del Sol Sangria. If you’re looking for non-alcoholic options the usual Lava Smoothies, Strawberry Smoothies, and the more unique Bull Frog Brew (served in an adorable light-up Mason Jar) keep things interesting. Muddy Rivers Beer, Wine, and Sangria Menu But the Specialty Drinks are where Muddy Rivers shines — that’s where we spotted the relatively new Frosé on the list. It’s tucked on the menu beside a Sunshine Margarita (yes, please!), the All That Jazz (a layered, multi-drink hit that’s been around for a while now), and, of course, classics like the Captain’s Mai Tai and a good ol’ New Orleans Hurricane. Muddy Rivers Specialty Drinks The Frosé is pretty trendy, so I had to give it a whirl on my most recent visit to Muddy Rivers. It’s comprised of Meomi Rosé (basically rose wine), Tito’s Handmade Vodka (shout-out to Austin!), and some kind of sweet slushie mix. And sweet is the key here. It’s crazy sweet. Like dry-your-mouth-out sweet (coming stright from someone who reeeaaally likes sweet stuff!). So prepare yourself for that. Also prepare yourself to get hit with the wine, which is quite strong in this drink. The Lovely Frosé The Frosé was decent, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Wine Slushies at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs. Those are much fruitier and strike a better balance between the fruit, wine, sweet, and tart flavors. (Be sure to order the off-the-menu Strawberry Shiraz swirled with Mango Moscato — trust me!) Still, if you’re poolside and looking for a serious hit of boozy sugar, the Frosé will fit the bill. (It’s also served at Hurricane Hanna’s at Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts!) What’s your favorite poolside beverage? Let us know in the comments! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! Find great deals at DFBStore.com! 11. As part of the multi-year expansion of the Disneyland Resort, we are upgrading, improving and adding new parking and transportation enhancements that have been long envisioned for the resort. The centerpiece of this plan is an all-new parking structure to be built on the current Pinocchio surface parking lot next to Mickey & Friends. This new 6,500-space structure is designed to dramatically improve parking and traffic flow throughout the resort. It is expected to significantly speed up guest arrival by providing a 60 percent increase in the number of access lanes and adding additional parking capacity on the west side of the resort. The additional parking capacity and access lanes will streamline vehicle arrivals on the west side of the resort and eliminate backups onto city streets. In addition, the tram boarding area will be reconfigured to enhance the transportation experience for guests parking at both the new structure and Mickey & Friends. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2018, with the structure set to open the following year. View the full article
  12. We have some exciting news to share with you today about continuing expansion and growth of the Disneyland Resort. For the first time in almost two decades, we will open a new Four Diamond hotel! Set to open in 2021, this hotel will transform the west end of the Downtown Disney District and anchor a new gateway to the Disneyland Resort. The stunning 700-room hotel will feature a sophisticated design and be a game-changer for Anaheim, creating a dynamic dining, entertainment and hotel experience for resort visitors and local residents. Extensive landscaping and water elements will create a resort oasis, showcasing nature on every level of the hotel. The hotel’s location embraces the iconic Disneyland Monorail with a dedicated platform inside the hotel for direct transport into Disneyland park. Guest rooms, public spaces and gardens will provide views of the Downtown Disney District. In addition, an upper-level restaurant and lounge will give guests a view of the popular Disneyland park fireworks. The ground level of the hotel will include shops and restaurants opening onto an expansive landscaped plaza complete with playful water features, creating a gathering place for guests and visitors. The new hotel also connects all four Hotels of the Disneyland Resort through lush gardens and beautifully landscaped walkways, transforming the gateway on the west side and creating a welcoming entry for our Disneyland Resort guests. And that’s not all. This new hotel creates great benefits for the community, generating approximately $25 million in new taxes in its first five years of operation that go directly to Anaheim’s general fund. It also will create thousands of additional construction and permanent jobs and attract new hotel guests to the resort area. Construction is scheduled to start in summer 2018, with a grand opening slated for 2021. Check back here for updates! View the full article

  22. Adventures by Disney trips offer something for every type of vacationer. With Halloween just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to explore destinations that are perfect for those who enjoy a little bit of spooky fun. Here are my favorite eerie destinations you can visit with Adventures by Disney: Investigate the Ominous Tower of London On the Adventures by Disney England and France trip, you’ll explore the foreboding Tower of London. This fortress is not only one of the city’s most visited attractions, but legend has it that it’s haunted as well! Prepare to learn about its checkered past as an infamous prison. Explore German Lore by Candlelight Set off at dusk in Rothenburg, Germany on a tour of town led by a night watchman. Follow the watchman’s flickering lantern as you traverse through the town’s ancient cobblestone streets, learning the tantalizing tales of the region. Uncover Fables of the Loch Ness Monster On the Adventures by Disney Scotland vacation, depart from the ruinous Urquhart Castle on a canoe ride across the dark and legendary waters of Loch Ness. Or join a skipper on a boat tour and delight in tall tales of the search for the elusive creature lurking in the waters below. Sail off to an Ancient Acropolis How about touring a frightful fortress set on an abandoned island? On the Adventures by Disney Greece vacation you can do just that! At Spinalonga Fortress you’ll learn about the haunting history of this medieval ghost town while traversing the ruins of the island. Come Face-to-Face with Creepy Crawlies In South Africa, encounter some pretty far-out crawling creatures at a presentation led by a leading reptile expert. Feel your nervous adrenaline pumping as you come face-to-face with live snakes and African insects in this slithering, slimy activity! Take Part in Frightful Fun at Disney Parks Whether you’re exploring Southern California or journeying through China, experience ghoulish delights at Disney Parks during Adventures by Disney trips to these locales throughout October. Would you rather scream on Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark at Disney California Adventure park, or experience the spine-chilling Maze of Madness at Hong Kong Disneyland? Whether you’re conquering your fear of creepy crawlies or searching for legendary sea monsters, there are endless amounts of spooky fun to be had on an Adventures by Disney trip!
