  20. Earlier this week, we were thrilled to gather together with 200 Disney Parks Blog readers for a “Flurry of Fun” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. “Flurry of Fun” is the new park-wide holiday celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which includes the new Sunset Seasons Greetings projection show, a new finale at the park’s “Frozen Singalong,” beautiful decor in the Echo Lake area, the return of “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” and more. To kick things off, we met the group for a special dessert party at Sunset Showcase, where Mickey Mouse, Santa Goofy, Chip & Dale were on-hand to greet our guests. Executive Producer Laura Offerdahl also served as our special guest and talked about what it took to bring this year’s Flurry of Fun celebration to life. Guests then had some free time to enjoy the new projection show, Sunset Seasons Greetings, along Sunset Boulevard. This new holiday offering brings magical holiday stories – inspired by Mickey & Minnie, friends from “Toy Story,” Swedish Chef from The Muppets, and Olaf from “Frozen” – to life on The Hollywood Tower Hotel. We later met up for a viewing of “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” It’s a full on “Cranberry Red!” situation in this show for elves Wayne and Lanny from “Prep & Landing,” who go on a wild chase to find Santa and return him to the North Pole in time for Christmas Eve. For a full look inside the event, check out the video above. View the full article
  21. The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort has begun, and when you visit Disney California Adventure park this season, you’ll enjoy a 5-minute sneak peek of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ holiday featurette, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure”! This preview, presented prior to performances of the theatrical extravaganza, “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion,” offers an advance look at a sequence from the featurette, including Olaf’s delightful new song, “That Time of Year.” In “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” Olaf (voice of Josh Gad) teams up with Sven on a merry mission. It’s the first holiday season since the gates reopened and Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) and Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel) host a celebration for all of Arendelle. When the townspeople unexpectedly leave early to enjoy their individual holiday customs, the sisters realize they have no family traditions of their own. So, Olaf sets out to comb the kingdom to bring home the best traditions and save this first Christmas for his friends. Directed by Emmy®-winning filmmakers Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton (“Prep & Landing”), produced by Oscar® winner Roy Conli (“Big Hero 6”), and featuring a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer and four original songs by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” opens in front of Disney•Pixar’s original feature “Coco” in U.S. theaters on November 22, 2017. Be sure to catch this special 5-minute sneak peek of “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” for a limited time this holiday season at the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure park. 24. From the studio that made us love the monsters in our closets and rats in our restaurants comes an extraordinary film that celebrates family, remembering our ancestors and following our dreams. Pixar Animation Studios’ “Coco” follows 12-year-old music lover Miguel into the vibrant and colorful Land of the Dead to unlock the truth behind his family’s baffling, generations-old ban on music. Voicing Miguel in the visually stunning film is Anthony Gonzalez, whose rise to stardom included a weeklong stop this summer as a special guest aboard the Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise. Anthony became an instant favorite among our sailing Members, punctuating a behind-the-scenes look at the film with a standout performance of the “Coco” anthem “Remember Me” (written by Academy Award-winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez of Frozen fame), sharing personal stories of his work on the film and giving out more hugs to fans than the Mouse who employs me. Anthony was kind enough to sit down with me – and our Member Cruise camera crew – for a visit in the ship’s appropriately themed Animator’s Palate restaurant, and I’m pleased to share that conversation with you here. The video includes a quick clip of Anthony’s “Remember Me” song number from our voyage, and you can see more of his musical talent in the accompanying video of his surprise performance in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort. See “Coco” in theaters beginning this Wednesday, Nov. 22, and be sure to check out the film’s unforgettable soundtrack, available now in stores and for digital download. View the full article
