The North American Tour of Disney’s “ALADDIN” is now taking audiences to a whole new world in a whole new way at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif., until March 31! Adam Jacobs, who originated the role of Aladdin on Broadway and on tour and Reggie de Leon, who originated the role of Iago on tour, took a journey outside of Agrabah to make a surprise appearance at the Disneyland Resort. The duo came to surprise a show choir from Cesar Chavez High School from Stockton, Calif., during a Disney Performing Arts Musical Theatre Workshop. Adam and Reggie offered the Singing Titans career advice and insight into the world of performing. The students learned choreography and vocals adapted from the film and gained insider tips to get one jump ahead in their future auditions. Yup: the Mighty Festival for St. Patrick’s Day kicks off today and continues through March 17 and 18 at Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant! This is THE ST. PATRICK’S DAY FESTIVAL YOU WANT TO GO TO. The Maguires are in town just for the Festival, in fact, and include dad Phillip on the guitar, daughter Emma on the fiddle, daughter Aoife on the concertina, and son Sean on the bodhran. They’re straight out of Wicklow, Ireland, and ready to party! The Maguires are in town! And of course the Raglan Road Irish Dancers are always energetic and fun! The Raglan Road Irish Dancers are always fun! And naturally, there will be beer. The sample poured for the media event was King of Shoals, and it’s from Winter Garden, FL, brewery Crooked Can. This beer is exclusive to Raglan Road for the Festival, and it’s delicious. Fruity and tropical, it’s terrific for the central Florida Mighty Festival. Fans of Schofferhofer will like this refreshing brew. King of Shoals Beer Be sure to grab the Rack of Heaven, a starter stack of Baby Back Ribs, slow-roasted and Guinness-Glazed! These are popular for a reason! They’re delicious and sweet in a good way! Rack of Heaven Traditional Fish and Chips are a huge hit here — deservedly so. Fish and Chips And on our last visit, we loved Gnocchi Sea, Gnocchi Do. This light-yet-filling dish features some pillowy gnocchi and lots of fresh seafood and veg! Y’all, the Mighty Festival is so fun, and with Raglan Road’s spectacular dining and loads of exciting entertainment, there’s no better time to visit this Disney Springs location! The 11th edition of the prestigious Disney Dreamers Academy mentoring program concluded this past Sunday. The students have all gone home and by now are settling back into their normal daily routines in their respective hometowns, but it’s a sure bet that the students remain fired up about their futures based on what they learned at Walt Disney World Resort this past weekend. Over four days, the 100 students — known as “Disney Dreamers” – were encouraged to dream big, discover a world of magical possibilities and get a jump start on their dreams from some of the most well-known and accomplished professionals in their fields. This year’s speakers included ABC’s “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, Grammy Award-winning recording artist Ne-Yo, entertainer Jussie Smollett from Fox’s “Empire”, movie costume designer Ruth Carter, who designed the costumes for Marvel’s blockbuster hit movie “Black Panther”, NFL great Emmitt Smith, actor Miles Brown and actress Marsai Martin from ABC’s hit show “Black-ish” and many others. Hong Kong Disneyland is pulling out all the stops this spring and summer with the debut of ‘Carnival of Stars,’ a celebration of exciting new atmosphere entertainment and shows that’ll keep guests coming back for more. And it all starts today! The new “We Love Mickey!” Projection Show will transform the buildings along Main Street, U.S.A., each night into a colorful canvas that pays tribute to Mickey Mouse’s major milestones. Keep your eyes out for the star of the show in his latest finery. Guests can spot more than 100 Disney characters across the resort this spring, including the debut appearances of Black Panther, Spider-Man and Groot over the next few weeks. The Disney Friends Springtime Processional brings together more than 30 Disney characters to sing and dance with guests, and this summer, the first ever Disney∙Pixar-themed “Water Play Street Party” will keep guests cool. Starting March 30, the Karibuni Marketplace will open in Adventureland to immerse guests in the lively colors, sights and sounds of Africa. Interactive games, exclusive souvenirs and special snacks will all be at the marketplace, and favorite Disney characters from “UP,” “The Jungle Book,” “The Lion King” and “Aladdin” will stop by. Last but not least, the brand new stage show “Moana: A Homecoming Celebration” will premiere in Adventureland this May, which is just the first attraction of the resort’s multi-year expansion. If you’re planning a voyage aboard the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream, you’re going to want to make a trip to Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats. Scratch that. You’re going to want to make so many trips to Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats that they name a gelato after you. (This isn’t a thing, but we wouldn’t object if it was!) Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream We first told you about Vanellope’s Go Kart Sundae back in July of last year, but that gorgeousness is only the beginning! Vanellope’s is so jam-packed with sweets and treats that it’s basically insane. I’ve never been in a place so full of stuff I wanted to eat that I didn’t know where to look first. I spent THREE HOURS IN HERE to make sure I could do it justice for all of you. So fingers crossed I was able to touch on everything. But, let’s be honest, even if you were in here YOURSELF you wouldn’t see EVERYthing. There’s just too much! Vanellope’s Sweet and Treats Now, let’s get one thing straight. Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats come at an additional cost above and beyond what you paid for your cruise. These aren’t free with admission. But the cost is relatively low (cheaper than what you’d be paying in Disney World for similar stuff), and while the extra cost might be a bit of a turn-off on a cruise where you can eat as many Mickey Premium Bars as you want with your dinner (and after dinner…and from room service…and for breakfast…), once you see the specialties Vanellope has in store, you might just decide that it’s worth the extra splurge. The shop itself is bright, owing to these clear glass entry doors. And your eyeballs will start burning from all of the colors and awesomeness in here from the get-go. Check out that peppermint door handle! (Please, don’t lick the handle.) Fun entrance to Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats! Once inside, you’ll see that the themeing at Vanellope’s is right to left and top to bottom! Peppermint lights and poles cozy up to massive globes full of gumballs. A cheerful race track curves around the room, breaking up the red and white peppermint theme a bit. Colorful displays at Vanellope’s! There are also some cute (and kookydooks) photo opps — like this winners podium and tasty looking go kart. Photo opps! And Vanellope is keeping tabs on the action from her spot dangling upside down. There’s the little sweetie herself! To the far left is a wall of candy. Here, guests can dispense a little or a lot of their favorite sweets! Wall o’ candy at Vanellope’s! Sweets and treats are on display, as are the cast members hard at work in the background. And above the cases are electronic menu boards. Step up to the ice cream and gelato case! Location-specific sundaes are described, along with the size and pricing info. Sundaes, Ice Cream, and Gelato at Vanellope’s! Additional signage is available with the sundae descriptions. And these are some surrrriously amazing combinations. You want to click the pic to dig into them a little. Sundaes — click for a larger version! There’s also a “Racers” screen which keeps an up-to-date ranking of the best selling sundaes at Vanellope’s. How cool is that? The Go-Kart Sundae was in the lead during my visit, and when we show it to you, you’ll understand why. (Shout out to John Frost at the Disney Blog for the heads up on this fun feature!) The race is on! Sign displaying the best selling sundaes at Vanellope’s! Below the menu boards are bright cases full of some of the wildest and funnest ice cream and gelato I’ve ever seen. The attention to detail and the epic variety are just mindblowing! Ice Cream and Gelato on display There are also tons of toppings from which to choose! Ice Cream Toppings Naturally, I had to get a Go-Kart Sundae. This one is fun for a number of reasons. For starters, you get to choose three scoops of whatever ice cream or gelato you fancy, plus five toppings! If you play it right, this could totally be shared between a couple people. Or me, myself, and I. Oh, and how fabulous was Enrique, there? He was the cast member I encountered during the whole cruise. He was patient, excited about my food adventure, and…did I say patient. Cause he was patient. Vanellope’s Go Kart Sundae Once you’ve made your selections, the sundae is topped off with whipped cream, cherries, and squares of Vanellope’s chocolate (you get to choose milk chocolate or white chocolate). And did I mention it’s served in this incredible souvenir go-kart WITH WHEELS THAT ACTUALLY TURN (this is very important if you have a 4-year-old boy at home)?! Yes! (They’ll even wash this baby out for you when you’re done, so you can take your clean bowl home and, say, finish each day with a go-kart sundae of your own design!) Go Kart Sundae It’s a sizable sundae, but whether you attack it alone or with a friend, it’s awesome. (Oh, and just an FYI — that blue background — yeah that’s the Caribbean water around Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island. AMAZING, RIGHT?!?) So sweet! Vanellope churns up other ice cream treats, too. Like this Peanut Butter Tower. You had me at Peanut Butter, Vanellope, but if it’s a tower of peanut butter, there’s no way to resist. Peanut Butter Tower Okay, this one is slightly crazy and completely crazy good. It’s a super thick peanut butter cup and vanilla ice cream shake, topped with whipped cream, smashed peanut butter cups, a drizzle of thick peanut butter, a Vanellope’s white chocolate square, and… a glazed donut. Words fail me except this one: yum. (There’s also a straw but get a spoon. Trust me.) Vanellope’s Peanut Butter Tower Oh, and that Family Challenge Sundae? You can absolutely order one and have it delivered to your table at dinner! I did this to celebrate my mom’s birthday and it was a blast! Family Challenge Sundae Example When you place your order, you simply request to have it delivered to your evening’s dinner service, and — voila! — you’ve got some serious dessert and some serious fun! Family Challenge Sundae Delivered! Happy birthday to my mom (and to me since I got to jump into this, too)! Happy birthday, Mom! Eat this massive sundae! Beyond ice cream treats, Vanellope also has a fabulous selection of dessert treats. They’re displayed neatly in several other bright cases. Vanellope’s Dessert Case Everything sounds terrific, including these Oreo Rice Krispy Bars. Which, if you’re going to improve on a Krispie treat, you might as well do it with Oreos. Oreo Rice Krispy Bar Mickey Cookies are just as adorable here as they are in the Disney Parks! Mickey Ear Cookies As are these Mickey Cookies. But with so many things to try, I had to pass this time. But these are very well done. Mickey Tarts If you prefer a dainty macaron, there are many, many from which to choose. They’re colorful and fun — and definitely don’t look like your average macaron. But they still have that flaky exterior and chewy interior. So many colorful macarons! For sophisticated treats, Vanellope featured Lemon Coconut Slices on my visit. And even though a Chocolate Twinkie with fluffy frosting on top isn’t exactly fancy, we think these are pretty. Lemon Coconut Slice and Chocolate Twinkie Some lovely Ganache Chocolates are on display, too. Ganaches If you’re jonesing for a caramel fix, you could go for the Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel square. Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel But maybe the most exciting things in the dessert case are these mind-bendingly creative truffles. Shiny, colorful exteriors hide creative flavors within like Chocolate Gummy Bear, Chocolate Covered Popcorn, and Strawberry Milkshake. They’re so gosh-darn pretty, and they’re packaged well, so you can make these a take-home souvenir. Unique truffles are Vanellope’s game! Beautiful truffles! Of course, it’s not Disney-anything without cupcakes, and Vanellope’s had several varieties on display during my visit — and they were all packed with character. Like these Beauty and the Beast Cookies and Cream cupcakes, topped with intricate roses. Beauty and the Beast Cookies and Cream Cupcake Lightning McQueen holds court on a Cars Strawberry Cupcake, while Minnie adorns the Red Velvet. Cars Strawberry Cupcake and Minnie Mouse Red Velvet Cupcake Coco gets some love with a Peanut Butter Cupcake, while Captain Jack would definitely plunder these Chocolate Cupcakes with Raspberry Filling. Vanellope’s Cupcakes! There are several varieties of fudge in the case: Cherry Almond, Chocolate Mint Fudge, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Fudge Classic Chocolate Peanut Butter was calling my name (when does it not?)! Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge So I had one of those…and a few other things. Just, you know, for research purposes. In front are the colorful truffles, packaged sweetly. So many sweets and treats! And then there’s the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge. It’s super rich, and the portion is large enough to share unless you have the grandest of appetites. Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge The cross-section shows you how dense this is, with swirls of peanut butter fudge mostly incorporated into the very top, and chocolate fudge reigning throughout. Inside the fudge! Coco’s Peanut Butter Cupcake WAS. AWESOME. It’s topped with curls of red and white chocolate and a Dia de Los Muertos-style mask. The frosting is thick peanut butter! Coco Peanut Butter Cupcake And the interior of moist peanut butter cake is jam — yummy, slightly tart jam. It’s a terrific balance and a good bet for the kiddos! Coco cupcake interior Then there’s this beautiful beast: the Unicorn Cupcake. There’s a lot going on here, but it’s got fun coming out of its tiny fondant ears. Unicorn Cupcake on the high seas! The horn is also fondant, and there are several shades of icing at play here, plus two kinds of sprinkles. Unicorn Cupcake The base buttercream is lavender colored but simple vanilla (though a really, really good buttercream), while the cake is confetti! So fun! The center of this one is more “smooth jelly-donut” versus the jam in the Coco cupcake, and paired with the confetti cake, it works! Inside of the Unicorn The Mickey Oreo Cookie Pop is stinking adorable — I love the details in his face! This cookie pop is all about that dark chocolate Mickey shell… Vanellope’s Oreo Cookie Pop Well, not all about it because inside is a crispy, frosting-filled, chocolate and vanilla oreo. So much fun to look at and to eat. Inside The last treat I tried was the Peanut Butter Blondie, which is so much more than a typical blondie. The base is an incredibly rich peanut butter round, thick and slightly salty. Then there are layers of chocolate: buttercream and discs. Peanut Butter Blondie The cross-section is something of a culinary construction site, but it’s another winner when you get a little of everything in a single bite. Check it out! Whew!! OK this is just a sampling of what’s available at Vanellope’s! There are also Mickey chocolate chip cookies and shortbread cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, Mickey tarts, caramel apples, and MORE! I’m definitely going to do a video on our youtube channel about it soon since there’s SO much more to share! And, I’m not saying that Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats is the only reason to book a Disney Dream cruise, but it sure is a compelling one! Guests visiting Magic Kingdom Park are in for some hippity hoppity fun starting March 19, when the Easter Bunny will begin making appearances at the park. Easter Bunny will greet guests from March 19-April 1 in the Town Square Courtyard. On March 31, and April 1 (Easter Sunday), a special pre-parade will make its way down Main Street, U.S.A., that will feature Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny, Daisy, Duck, Thumper & Ms. Bunny, White Rabbit, Yellow Rabbit, Clara Cluck, Hippos, Ostriches, Dancing Chicks and the Azalea Trail Maids from Mobile, Alabama. If you follow our reviews of the Mint Julep Bar’s rotating seasonal beignet flavors at Disneyland, you might be wondering what’s on tap for early spring. The Mint Julep Bar is a small walk-up spot located in New Orleans Square. Well, Disneyland’s famous Mickey Beignets are getting the Watermelon Chili Lime treatment. Watermelon Chili Lime Beignet That’s right: we’ve covered some Tajin (chili-lime-salt spice blend)-on-fruit action in the past, including our Dole Whip/Tajin hack, but this is the first time we’ve seen chili lime combined with a fruit flavored sugar. And to be honest, it had us all scratching our heads. Trio of Watermelon Chili Lime Beignets But we have some surprising news: our Disneyland correspondent Heather (follow her adventures @DiningInDisney!) says this is actually better than expected! Maybe it’s the sugar talking? Because there’s a ton of it. And most of it ended up in the bottom of the bag. But still, it’s flavorful, she says! Watermelon Chili Lime Sugar in the bag The sugar contains edible glitter (see the stars in there?), and that’s always fun. Beignet and Sugar And you can kind of make out the shades of red (chili?), pink (watermelon?), and darkish greenish (lime?) flecks in the sugar combination. Heather says there’s a good amount of heat from the chili, too. Beignet and Sugar The beignets at Mint Julep Bar are Mickey-shaped (you can still find the original Mickey beignet here and at Cafe Orleans, sans watermelon-flavored sugar), which is always fun. And it looks festive with that sugar coating. Mickey! We have to say it would be nice if a little more sugar stayed on the beignet itself. Still, dunking a beignet in a pool of powdery sugar (especially when it’s a surprisingly pleasant flavor like this is!) is acceptable to us. We have some more news about registration for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend, which takes place November 1-4 during the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Wine and Dine Half Marathon Earlier this week we shared that the registration for this Fall’s 2018 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon had been delayed. But then two days later, runDisney announced that registration for the General Public opens Tuesday, March 20 at 12PM ET. And now we have some details about Early Registration for affinity groups including Disney Vacation Club and Annual Passholders! Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak Residents, and Annual Passholders SHOULD be able to register for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend races starting Friday, March 16, at 12PM ET. Links for early registration are located at the runDisney page for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. We say SHOULD because there might be a technical glitch. According to the Disney cast members we spoke to via phone, the links on the runDisney page currently aren’t working for some affinity groups and they MIGHT not be working tomorrow, either. BUT….you should definitely still TRY to register tomorrow if you’re a DVC Member or Annual Passholder, because the glitch might be fixed! And if you aren’t a DVC Member, remember that you can register for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon races on March 20 starting at 12PM! The races always sell out quickly so be ready! The new Pixar Play Zone will be offered nightly at Disney’s Contemporary Resort starting April 13th! This just-for-kids experience (for ages 4-12) will feature Pixar characters from Toy Story and The Incredibles!, toys, and activities. Pixar Play Zone concept art ©Disney It will also include dinner and dessert (while mom and dad can use the time to enjoy a date night all their own). Let’s check out the fun coming to each room of Pixar Play Zone! Toys will fill Bonnie’s Play Room, while the Living Room will host activities like Space Ranger Training, where kids can learn how to become a Jr. Space Ranger of Star Command. It’s off to the Wild West, next, when Woody and Jessie stop by for Woody’s Roundup (lil’ cowpokes can even singalong!). Radiator Springs Racetrack is where kids can build their own racecars, then send them down a soapbox derby racetrack for the Piston Cup Derby Races! The fun is capped off with a dance party with Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, and a party host! Arcade games are also part of the fun. And, again, the evening will include dinner and dessert. Play Zone attendees will be welcomed at the welcome desk, stop by the Monster’s, Inc. handwashing station, and then pop in Boo’s Closet to store any personal belongings. Children must be fully toilet-trained to attend, and a parent must be physically present to check their children in and out of Pixar Play Zone. When people ask me what I love most about living in Florida, it’s right now – that time of year when it’s starting to warm up but isn’t yet blazing hot. March and April are pretty perfect here in the sunshine state, so it should come as no surprise that it’s my absolute favorite time to enjoy the al fresco dining options at Disney Springs. Fresh air and fresh food are a winning combination … read on to learn more about my top picks to enjoy an outdoor meal: The BOATHOUSE: With picture-perfect views of Lake Buena Vista, I love dining on deck at The BOATHOUSE. Whether you choose a standard table, a high top or the comfy patio furniture (yes, you can get served there, too!), I’d suggest the lobster roll. On a warm day, it’s not too heavy (they make it just the way I like, without too much mayonnaise) in spite of the whole Maine lobster used in every roll, and don’t even get me started about how amazing their French fries are! To drink? A nice IPA fits the bill, but for something extra-refreshing, sip on the Cucumber Cooler. Frontera Cocina: A table here gives you a front row seat to one of the best looks at the springs of Disney Springs. Right over the water, you’re almost guaranteed to feel the cool breeze in your hair as you sip your margarita (my go-to!) and savor every bite of freshly made hummus, a nice alternative to the equally delicious guacamole. Of course, you’ll also find tacos, tortas and an array of entrees by celebrity chef Rick Bayless, but on a warm day, nothing on the menu beats their Taqueria Salad with Mojo garlic grilled shrimp. Paddlefish: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the third story deck of Paddlefish is one of the best kept secrets at Disney Springs. If you haven’t yet found your way to the open-air rooftop of this iconic paddleboat-inspired seafood restaurant, put it on your “to-do” list. For a special evening out, order the Seafood Tower – everything is fresh and chilled to just the right temperature. The drinks are divine, too … grab a group of friends and treat yourself to a carafe of perfect-for-spring house-made red sangria with Framboise, Crème de Mure, orange juice, tempranillo, and seasonal fruit. Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant: For more than a decade, the patio at this authentic Irish pub has been dazzling guests with incredible entertainment on their outdoor stage, all the while serving their full menu of favorites to guests lucky enough to snag an outside table. While you can certainly experience patio dining seven days a week, think about booking a brunch reservation with options like the “Full Irish” (a full Irish breakfast, naturally), “Ellis Isle Steak’n Eggs” and “Pancakes Diaspora”—all pair nicely with the Strawberry Fields Mimosa. STK Orlando: A favorite for late-night, STK Orlando is another great spot for dinner and drinks under the stars (and beneath ambience-adding string lights)! While steak is what they’re known for, and rightly so, the Buratta Salad is among the best I’ve had. Cocktails abound, but for an appealing accompaniment, order a glass of the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, a vibrant, peppery white wine with bold fruit and floral notes. Date night for two, girls’ brunch, family lunch … whatever the occasion, Disney Springs is the place to enjoy it, especially now with our incredible Central Florida weather! You know how some people say “If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes”? We feel like the Magic Kingdom is on a race to out-pace Mother Nature when it comes to making changes. Because even though we just brought you What’s New from the Magic Kingdom a few days ago, we have more to add! First we’re moseying over to Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe where there are a couple of big menu changes to note. First, the Southwest Angus Burger is off the menu — following in the footsteps of the Taco Burger, which disappeared from the menu last month! The only remaining burger at Peco Bill’s is the Bacon Cheeseburger. Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Cafe Menu Changes The second Pecos Bill’s change is a bummer: Guacamole is now a side sold for $2.00. You’ll recall that it’s been a staple on the Fixin’s Bar for a while, so this is a drag! Peco Bill Menu Changes Guacamole — for a price! Sigh. Meanwhile at Casey’s Corner, we’re pretty happy to see a new drink: Odwalla Mint Julep Lemonade Slushy! Casey’s Corner menu We told you about this one over the weekend because we couldn’t wait to share it! We are fans of the Mint Julep Bar in Disneyland, so getting a version on the east coast is exciting! Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade This non-alcoholic Mint Julep Lemonade Slushy is subtle, sweet, and tart — all of which we applaud. It’s a terrific option for the impending heat of summer! Hopefully it’ll stay on the menu for a while! Mint Julep Time! And, okay. You’ve probably heard about this last one. We had to bring you the bad (or good, as we see some of you have declared!) news this weekend, too: Citrus Swirl is no more at Sunshine Tree Terrace. New Orange Swirl on Menu at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom It’s been replaced by Orange Swirl, which promises to lose the tartness we loved in the Citrus Swirl and replace it with a little sweetness. New Orange Swirl is Replacing Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace The Orange Swirl has been here before — but we were thrilled when it left and true Citrus Swirl returned. The Orange Swirl is a Dole product (like the Dole Whip) and is dairy free and vegan. But we know a lot of you will miss that frozen-orange-juice-vibe we got from the Citrus Swirl. New Orange Swirl Float with Fanta Orange Soda Okay, now that’s it. We say, waiting for more changes to drop, as they always do! And we’ll bring them to you as they happen! Last week, we shared news of a new immersive children’s experience, Pixar Play Zone, part of a pilot program opening at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on April 13. Starting today, the reservation lines are officially open! Available nightly, kids, ages 4-12, will be transported to a world full of excitement and adventure with their favorite characters from Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” and “The Incredibles!” While the kids play, parents will be able to enjoy their own getaway throughout Walt Disney World Resort. In Bonnie’s Play Room, children will find a variety of toys. Around the corner, the Living Room will be the center for most of the action, starting with Space Ranger Training where a Space Ranger will teach kids what it takes to become a Jr. Space Ranger of Star Command, including how to identify enemies, like Zurg, and finally, the call of the Space Ranger, “To infinity and beyond!” Then, Woody and Jessie will show them the ropes of the Wild West during Woody’s Roundup – complete with a sing along for a rootin’ tootin’ good time! Next to the Living Room will be the Radiator Springs Racetrack where youngsters will be able to build their own racecars and take turns sending them down a soapbox derby racetrack for Piston Cup Derby Races. Disneyland Resort Dreamers & Doers wrapped up its third year with a celebration honoring high school students from across Orange County, Calif. The program recognizes students who take action to improve their communities or schools, and is part of the resort’s longstanding commitment to education and inspiring others to make a difference. This year, 86 students were named Dreamers & Doers by their schools, earning Disneyland Resort theme park tickets. Those who went above and beyond to make a positive impact were named Shining Stars by the Disneyland Resort, and invited to last weekend’s celebration. Shining Stars received $1,000 grants for their schools, and five were surprised as Luminaries – the top achievement! Congratulations to this year’s Luminaries, who were awarded a stay at the Disneyland Resort with their families, and the opportunity to give a $3,000 grant to a nonprofit of their choice! Carissa Long – Sage Hill School – An active volunteer with Illumination Foundation, Carissa started an Illumination Foundation club at her school that has grown to nearly 100 members. She planned a charity golf tournament that raised $275,000 for the foundation. Jake Chao – Oxford Academy – Jake founded Young Acoustics, a community music education program that provides music programs to low-income students of Magnolia School District. Jake sourced more than 100 instruments and student volunteers to help with the weekly lessons. Katherine McPhie – University High School – An active volunteer with Orange County Rescue Mission, Katherine started a weekly computer programming class for homeless youth. She also volunteers every Sunday at their food pantry, preparing and serving breakfast to Orange County’s most venerable individuals. Julia Ransom – San Juan Hills High School – In honor of her late brother, Julia created the James Ransom Memorial 5K to raise awareness for mental health advocacy. More than 600 participants raised more than $15,000 during the inaugural race for Mission Hospital Foundation’s Clinical Institute for Mental Health and Wellness. CJ Writer – Orange Lutheran High School – CJ planned, designed and installed water conservation demonstration gardens at the city of Anaheim’s Lenain Water Treatment Facility for residents to learn about water-savvy gardening. CJ facilitates tours of the gardens and continues to be involved.
