Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland has always been more than just a themed land. It’s a fully immersive planet where storylines evolve, characters roam freely, and now, we’re getting brand-new surprises. Hey R2! From the moment guests step onto Batuu, they’re transported into a living galaxy far, far away, and now Disney has confirmed that some notable changes are on the horizon. The beloved Droid Depot is getting some updates on the West Coast after April 29th. One of the most iconic interactive experiences in Galaxy’s Edge is Droid Depot. This is where guests can build and purchase their very own droid companion, choosing parts, colors, and personality chips to create a custom BB-series or R-series unit. The shop has long been framed as a bustling workshop run by the Mubo family, and it’s a must-do experience for Star Wars fans of all ages, especially those who want a hands-on souvenir that actually moves, beeps, and reacts to the land around it. Droid Depot in Disneyland Disney has now confirmed that “an earlier generation of the Mubo family will be taking over operations” at Droid Depot. The change in management will be prototyping the BB style of droid. The good news? Guests will still have the opportunity to purchase and build their own droid companion just like before, so the core experience isn’t going anywhere. We will still get to see R2D2 in the store, as well as some new droids from the original Star Wars period. Droid Depot As Galaxy’s Edge continues to evolve, these changes to Droid Depot show that Disney wants to keep the land fresh. We’ll be keeping a close eye on how these updates roll out and will be there to show you the changes, so be sure to stay tuned to Disney Food Blog. Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is getting some MAJOR updates to shops, characters, and more! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge continues to be one of the most immersive lands ever created in a Disney park, transporting guests straight into the middle of a galaxy far, far away. From piloting the Millennium Falcon to sipping blue milk on Batuu, every detail of the land is designed to make visitors feel like they’ve stepped into a living Star Wars story. And now, Disney has announced another notable update that will bring fresh life to one of Galaxy’s Edge’s most iconic locations. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is getting a big change. Disney has just announced that the shop will begin featuring new artifacts and curiosities inspired by props from more recent Star Wars series. Known for its mysterious, museum-like atmosphere, Dok-Ondar’s has always been a treasure trove of rare and unusual items from across the Star Wars universe, and now that collection is evolving to reflect newer stories fans have come to love. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities As antiquities shops often do, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will display a different array of one-of-a-kind items from its past. The curiosities and artifacts in his shop certainly change with the times, and this update leans into that storytelling detail. This change also fits into broader updates happening across Galaxy’s Edge as Disney continues to refresh the land without disrupting its core experience. Rather than massive overhauls, these smaller updates help keep the land feeling fresh, but sticking to what Galaxy’s Edge’s design is. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Disneyland We’ll be keeping a close eye on what new artifacts arrive at Dok-Ondar’s and what other updates may be coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Beginning April 29, 2026, visitors to Batuu may find Darth Vader inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., as the land expands its timeline to include more Star Wars eras. Read more about the exciting updates coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland at DisneyParksBlog.com. (Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort) Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened on May 31st, 2019, at Disneyland Resort, we’ve been exploring the entirely original planet of Batuu. Characters like the Mandalorian, Grogu, Rey, and Kylo Ren are certainly highlights — but Disney has just announced that some OG Star Wars characters are coming to the land later this year, and to say we’re freaking out is an understatement! We know where every Star Wars fan will be on April 29th, because that’s when FOUR of the most iconic characters will be roaming Galaxy’s Edge! Luke Skywalker has visited Batuu before, but only for a limited time. In April, he will become a permanent resident! You’ll find him roaming, seeking any and all knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building and kyber crystals. Luke Skywalker is coming back to Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Luke’s sister, Leia Organa, and Han Solo are also coming to Batuu! This is especially exciting because Disney announced that they worked with Lucasfilm to create a new look for Leia. We were able to get a sneak peek, but Disney has not publicly released the costume just yet. It’s a unique look inspired by earlier appearances in the 2015 comic book series and Star Wars: Battlefront. Find her near the Falcon — she may even recruit you to help Luke! This means Han Solo will be there to welcome the changes coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on May 22nd! He’ll be watching his ship, but he’s often tempted by the local cantina (Oga’s Cantina, of course!). Read all about those updates here. ©Disney/Lucasfilm The final character? If you guessed Darth Vader — ding, ding, ding — you’re correct! One of the most iconic villains in movie history is set to roam the land on a mission to find Luke Skywalker. Just be careful to stay out of his way, or you might be in trouble! Beginning April 29, 2026, visitors to Batuu may find Darth Vader, Imperial Stormtroopers, and other iconic Star Wars characters inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., as the land expands its timeline to include more Star Wars eras. Read more about the exciting updates coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland at DisneyParksBlog.com. (Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort) Disney revealed some other important changes. Rey will fittingly be moved towards the Resistance camp, so keep an eye out for her after you ride Rise of the Resistance! Rey Chewbacca will stay over by the Millennium Falcon. After all, he’s gotta help Han Solo fly the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy! R2D2 will continue rolling through the land. If I were you, I’d try to find him near Droid Depot! You want Chewie mode on the Millennium Falcon Kylo Ren will be the new villainous resident of the Disney Visa Cardholder exclusive meet and greet in Tomorrowland, replacing Darth Vader as he goes to intimidate Batuu visitors and search for Luke. Kylo Ren These changes are only happening at Disneyland Resort, so if you’re a huge OG Star Wars fan, it’s time to plan that trip to Anaheim, California. We’ll be in the parks when the characters debut their new looks, so stay tuned to DFB for a sneak peek! You might think the only wardrobe requirement for a Disney World vacation is a comfortable pair of sneakers, but there’s actually more to it than that. UNIQLO Disney World has always maintained dress code policies across the resort, but as we head deeper into 2026, there are some specific rules that Cast Members are actively enforcing. Whether you’re planning a casual day in the Magic Kingdom or have reservations at one of Disney’s upscale restaurants, knowing what’s allowed (and what’s not) can save you from an awkward situation at the gates or before your meal. We’re breaking down the three main dress code categories you need to know about so you can pack smart and avoid any wardrobe-related surprises. What You Can (and Can’t) Wear in the Theme Parks The good news is that Disney World keeps things pretty relaxed when it comes to what you wear while exploring the parks. The official policy focuses on keeping attire comfortable and family-friendly, which means your typical vacation wardrobe of shorts, t-shirts, sundresses, and sneakers is totally fine. Disney Merch That being said, there are a couple of important boundaries Disney has set that could get you stopped at security or asked to change before entering. Disney requires that all guests wear proper clothing, which includes shoes and shirts at all times. That seems obvious, but it’s worth noting because bathing suits and overly revealing outfits are not permitted. Save your swimwear for the pool at your resort. Beyond that, here are the rules Cast Members are watching for: Clothing with inappropriate or offensive language or images isn’t allowed. Disney maintains a family-friendly environment, so anything with profanity, crude graphics, or otherwise unsuitable content will likely get you turned away. Excessively torn or tattered clothing can be a problem. We’re not talking about jeans with a little distressing, which is perfectly fine. But if your outfit looks like it barely survived an encounter with a shredder, you might be asked about it. Anything that drags on the ground is considered a safety hazard. Long, trailing skirts or capes that touch the pavement could cause you or someone else to trip, so Disney doesn’t allow them. Visible tattoos with offensive imagery or language must be covered. If you have ink that falls into this category, bring something to cover it with or risk being asked to do so. @samantha_rose_51 @salt_n_sass_kicking_pots_ass One more thing to keep in mind is that layered clothing can be subject to additional screening at security checkpoints, so wearing multiple jackets or bulky layers might slow you down getting into the parks. And remember, costumes are only allowed for guests 14 and older during special ticketed events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The rest of the time, save the full costume for DisneyBounding instead. Casual Dining Throughout the Parks and Resorts The vast majority of dining locations across Disney World follow the same casual dress code as the theme parks themselves. Whether you’re grabbing a Dole Whip at Aloha Isle, sitting down for comfort food at 50’s Prime Time Cafe, or enjoying dinner at your resort’s table service restaurant, whatever you wore touring the parks all day is generally going to be acceptable. Take a look inside! Quick service spots have zero dress code requirements beyond the standard park rules we already covered. Most table service restaurants are the same way. You can absolutely show up in your park gear, complete with your spirit jersey and Mickey ears, and nobody will bat an eye. Woody’s Lunch Box That said, Disney does expect guests to maintain a reasonably neat appearance. You don’t need to look like you just stepped out of a salon, but showing up in something completely disheveled or inappropriate could still cause issues. Think of it as the same standard you’d apply to any casual restaurant back home. The bottom line here is simple. For the majority of your Disney dining experiences, you can relax and not worry about what you’re wearing. Pack comfortable clothes that work for walking around the parks all day, and you’ll be set for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at most locations. Signature Dining Requires a Step Up This is where things get a bit more formal. If you’ve managed to snag a reservation at one of Disney World’s Signature Dining restaurants, you’ll need to put in a little more effort than your usual park outfit. These upscale locations enforce a dress code that goes beyond the standard theme park rules. California Grill For men, Disney asks that you wear khakis, slacks, jeans in good condition, or dress shorts paired with a collared shirt. Sport coats are welcome but not required. For women, the guidelines include capri pants, skirts, dresses, dress shorts, or nice jeans without excessive rips or distressing. Narcoossee’s What’s NOT allowed at Signature Dining spots includes tank tops, flip-flops, swimwear, swimsuit cover-ups, cut-off shorts, heavily torn clothing, and t-shirts with offensive graphics or language. These rules apply to quite a few restaurants across the resort. At the resort hotels, you’ll find this dress code enforced at California Grill at the Contemporary, Citricos and Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian, Flying Fish at the BoardWalk, Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera, Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club, and a few spots at the Swan and Dolphin hotels. Jiko Over at Disney Springs, The BOATHOUSE (for indoor seating), Jaleo, Morimoto Asia, Paddlefish, and STK Orlando all follow these same guidelines. ©Jaleo Interestingly, most Signature Dining restaurants located inside the theme parks don’t require this elevated dress code. You can wear your regular park clothes to spots like Le Cellier at EPCOT, The Hollywood Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios, Tiffins at Animal Kingdom, and even Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom. Tiffins spread However, there are two notable exceptions. Both Monsieur Paul and Takumi-Tei at EPCOT do require guests to follow the Signature Dining dress code, even though they’re located within the park. Monsieur Paul If you show up to any of these locations in your typical theme park gear, you may be turned away or asked to return once you’ve changed into something more appropriate. Most guests don’t go full business formal, but aiming for a neat, polished, put-together look is the way to go. Victoria and Albert’s One special note: if you’re lucky enough to have reservations at Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian, be prepared for an even stricter dress code. Men must wear a dinner jacket with dress pants, and women need to wear elegant evening attire. Jeans, shorts, capris, sandals, flip-flops, and sneakers are completely off-limits. Pack Smart and Enjoy Your Trip For the most part, Disney World is pretty lenient about what you wear for most of your vacation. These three dress code categories are important to understand (and keep in mind) before you start packing your suitcase. The last thing you want is to be turned away from the parks or miss out on a special dining reservation because of what you’re wearing. For your park days, stick with comfortable, family-friendly outfits, and you’ll be golden. For most dining, wear whatever feels good. And if you’ve got Signature Dining on your itinerary, pack one or two outfits that are a step above your typical vacation wear. A little planning goes a long way toward ensuring you can enjoy everything Disney World has to offer without any wardrobe-related hiccups. Here at DFB, we take our Disney waffles VERY seriously. Y’all remember how upset we got when they changed the waffles at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom, right? (Fortunately, Disney changed them back). We also will eat our weight in Mickey waffles, if given a choice. ©Disney Well, we also love the sweet waffles snacks at Marketplace Snacks in Disney Springs, but something NEW has come to that snack spot. Now, you can get sweet AND savory waffles…and let’s just say that we will be headed to Disney Springs TOMORROW, January 15th, when these new savory waffles drop. Three new savory waffle snacks coming tomorrow to Marketplace Snacks (which quietly closed recently, and now we know why!), and y’all…they sound amazing. The waffle part of these snacks will stay the same, but they’ll have brand new toppings. First, you can get a Hot Honey Chicken Waffle with fried chicken bites, black pepper candied bacon, spicy pickle slaw, roasted jalapeños, garlic ranch, and chopped parsley. ©Disney The Bacon Cheeseburger Waffle sounds like a DREAM with a special blend of ground beef, crispy bacon (we are here for the BACON), cheddar cheese sauce, dill pickles, iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, and burger sauce. Who needs a bun when you can put a burger in a waffle? ©Disney But wait, it gets even better. That’s because Marketplace Snacks will also offer a BBQ Brisket Mac and Cheese Waffle with sweet black pepper BBQ sauce, pickled onions, chopped parsley, mac and cheese, and smoky brisket. Okay, we’ll admit that our mouths are already drooling just thinking about these new snacks. ©Disney Now, don’t worry, those sweet waffles you love at Marketplace Snacks are still available, too, but we’re excited to try something new at this snack spot. We’ll be checking out the new waffles and getting you our honest reviews, so stay tuned to DFB for more. If you think you know everything about Disneyland, a new documentary from filmmaker Leslie Iwerks will make you realize you really don’t know anything about the wild, improbable and chaotic birth of Walt Disney’s first theme park. The new “Disneyland Handcrafted” documentary on the one-year blitz to create the Anaheim theme park will debut Jan. 22 on YouTube and the Disney+ streaming service. The blue carpet premiere of “Disneyland Handcrafted” took place on Thursday, Jan. 8 at the Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank. ALSO SEE: Meet the ‘unsung hero’ who helped Walt Disney build Disneyland Think again if you think you’ve seen and read everything about Disneyland and know every corner of the park inside and out. “Disneyland Handcrafted” will make you realize you simply don’t and you haven’t. I was mesmerized by every second of “Disneyland Handcrafted.” That’s in part due to the cinema verite-style of filmmaking employed by Iwerks that eschews the typical talking heads cutaways that are popular in today’s documentaries in favor of bathing you in nonstop footage that makes you feel like a fly on the wall of a seemingly impossible undertaking. The “Disneyland Handcrafted” documentary relies heavily on footage from the Walt Disney Archives shot by a team of cameramen tasked by Walt Disney to capture the construction of Disneyland before the park opened in 1955. (Courtesy of Disney) You are completely immersed in the yearlong making of Disneyland thanks to excerpts from 100 hours of raw and rarely seen footage from the Walt Disney Archives shot by a team of cameramen tasked by Walt Disney to capture the construction of Disneyland. You quickly realize how unlikely it was that Disneyland ever got finished and made it to opening day. A craftsman works on a Sleeping Beauty Castle turret at Disneyland before the park opened in 1955. (Courtesy of Disney) You also realize how few OSHA rules and regulations there were in the 1950s with film crews riding untethered atop moving trains, workers shimmying down I-beams and visitors standing on the deck of the Mark Twain Riverboat sans any guardrails. Legend always told us that Disneyland was woefully unprepared for opening day. “Disneyland Handcrafted” shows us why. The whole thing was just barely held together by bailing wire, duct tape and Band-Aids. ALSO SEE: Disneyland had a nightmare start in 1955, but ‘Walt’s Folly’ quickly won over fans The film makes you realize just how close Disneyland came to never happening. A couple of months before the grand opening there was almost nothing there. A few weeks out, the park was nowhere near ready to swing open the gates to the waiting public. “Disneyland Handcrafted” starts with an idyllic scene a year after the park opens with all the happy faces and bustling crowds we know today. A little young and fresher, but recognizable by anyone who has ever been to Disneyland. Walt Disney surveys the Anaheim property that would become Disneyland before the park opened in 1955. (Courtesy of Disney) Then the film bounces back to a year before the park opens and there’s nothing there but dirt where an Anaheim orange grove once stood. As each month passes you start to quickly realize how little progress is being made. Three months before the park opens there’s still almost nothing there. Walt remarks on there being nothing but holes and piles of dirt and laments: “There isn’t one thing that any human being would spend 15 cents to come and see.” It’s at that moment that you realize this thing we know today as Disneyland came amazingly close to never happening. That everything everyone said about Walt’s Folly was true. That Disneyland was destined to be the biggest bust in Hollywood history. That Walt was certifiably crazy. A craftsman works on the floral Mickey at Disneyland’s front gate before the park opened in 1955. (Courtesy of Disney) And then in the last couple of months the whole project quickly comes together right before our eyes. One of the things we find out is just how much work on the theme park attractions was done at the Disney studios — something Iwerks cleverly withholds until late in the movie. Disneyland wasn’t ready by opening day. Not even close. But Walt insisted on opening anyway. Disneyland looked chaotic during the 90-minute live broadcast on ABC — but it also looked insanely enticing. The kind of chaotic madness you just had to see for yourself. And they came – with a million visitors within the first two months and 5 million in the first year. “Disneyland Handcrafted” makes you realize that Walt truly did risk it all. Walt asks at one point: “What’s the worst thing that can happen? That I go broke? I’ve been broke five times in my life. One more won’t hurt.” Creative risk was ingrained in Walt’s DNA. In all the things he’d ever done. Why not push all the chips into the middle of the table on his biggest dream of all? Coutesy of Leslie IwerksDocumentary filmmaker Leslie Iwerks’ “Disneyland Handcrafted” debuts Jan. 22 on the Disney+ streaming service. (Courtesy of Leslie Iwerks) Iwerks spoke before the premiere about a note she got from Disney CEO Bob Iger after he’d screened an early draft of the film. “It’s great, but you need more conflict,” Iger wrote to Iwerks. Iwerks listened to Iger. There’s a ton of conflict, tension and pressure in “Disneyland Handcrafted.” Even though you know how the story ends, you still wonder how they pulled it all off. The film makes clear how unlikely Disneyland was to be completed and how remarkable it was that it was finished on time — unfathomable, impossible and downright crazy. Workers install the Mad Tea Party teacups in Fantasyland at Disneyland before the park opened in 1955. (Courtesy of Disney) The craziest part of the film takes place during the final week before Disneyland opened. Just as the work crews were making the final push, Walt hosted an anniversary party for his wife in the park with hundreds of visitors and the ABC TV crew showed up to go through rehearsals for the live broadcast. Obstacles were literally everywhere preventing the work crews from making it to the finish line — from partygoers on the Mark Twain Riverboat to TV cables strewn across every route throughout the park. A craftsman paints a pirate ship at Disneyland before the park opened in 1955. (Courtesy of Disney) “Disneyland Handcrafted” is a fantastic film that takes all the outtakes from ABC’s 1954-55 Disneyland TV show that ended up on the cutting room floor and turns them into an amazing story about how close Walt came to failing. It’s also a testament to the hundreds of craftsmen who toiled right up to the final moments to turn Walt’s impossible dream into an improbable reality. “Disneyland Handcrafted” will change your whole perspective on how Disneyland came into being and make you appreciate what the park has become today. Calling all Mickey Waffle aficionados – there are three exciting new waffles with a touch of Mickey Mouse flair launching soon at Disney Springs, and you’re going to want to add these to your must-try snacks list immediately! If you saw my recent story about the best bread service at Disney World, you can probably guess that I love talking about carbs in any form, sweet or savory. One that I’m most passionate about is waffles, and today we are focusing on the savory category, since three new offerings will be available starting January 15 at Marketplace Snacks. This Disney Springs location is known for their decadent, photo-worthy sundaes, with ingredients like soft serve, hot fudge, fruit, and cookies stacked and served in Mickey Mouse waffle cones. That iconic (and delicious) waffle base will stay the same, but instead serve as a vessel for savory selections, in addition to some sweet favorites currently on the menu. Guests at Disney Springs can soon take a break from all their shopping and sightseeing to snack on three new offerings: a Hot Honey Chicken Waffle, Bacon Cheeseburger Waffle, or BBQ Brisket Mac and Cheese Waffle. Hungry yet? Let’s dive into these new extravagant eats so you know what to expect when digging in. Hot Honey Chicken Waffle Hot honey has been a huge food trend recently, and I can understand the hype because it really does add that perfect punch of sweet heat to any dish. In addition to crispy fried chicken bites, this waffle will contain black pepper candied bacon, spicy pickle slaw, roasted jalapeños, garlic ranch, and chopped parsley. I know I personally will be reaching for this one first – it has all of my favorite things! Bacon Cheeseburger Waffle If you’re craving all the components of a burger but want to try something different, the bacon cheeseburger waffle is calling your name. This creation is stacked with special blend ground beef, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, dill pickles, iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, and burger sauce. Who would have thought that cheeseburgers and waffles would be a match made in heaven? BBQ Brisket Mac and Cheese Waffle Another creative culinary combo is the brisket mac and cheese waffle (yes, you heard that right). Inside the signature Mickey Mouse waffle cone, you can savor sweet black pepper BBQ sauce, pickled onions, chopped parsley, mac and cheese, and of course, chunks of smoky brisket. This is basically a full, hearty meal tucked into a waffle cone – ideal for fueling up as you explore Disney Springs. If you are someone who always prefers a salty snack and doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, these new waffles will be right up your alley! More Waffles to Enjoy at Disney World Feeling inspired to go on the ultimate waffle crawl and try other options across Walt Disney World Resort? Something interesting is happening in EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion, and Disney Adults are absolutely split about it. Norway Pavilion We’ve been noticing a pretty interesting pattern lately when it comes to Frozen Ever After, and honestly, it’s splitting Disney fans right down the middle. Some folks are avoiding the attraction like the plague until everything is said and done, while others are making it their mission to squeeze in one last ride before the doors close. Here’s what you need to know about this whole situation. The Two Camps of Disney Adults Right now, Disney Adults visiting EPCOT are falling into one of two very distinct categories when it comes to Frozen Ever After. The first group is actively skipping the attraction altogether, choosing to wait until all the upcoming changes are complete before they experience it again. They’d rather see the finished product than ride the current version, knowing it’s about to get a major upgrade. Frozen Ever After The second group is taking the complete opposite approach. These guests are prioritizing Frozen Ever After above almost everything else, determined to get that last ride in before the attraction temporarily shuts down. For them, it’s all about experiencing the original version one final time before it changes forever. What’s Happening to Frozen Ever After Here’s the deal. Frozen Ever After will temporarily close for refurbishment on January 26th, 2026, and it’s expected to reopen in February 2026 with some pretty exciting updates. The Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures are getting a complete overhaul, and this isn’t just a minor touch-up. Frozen Ever After animatronics (EPCOT) When Frozen Ever After first opened, these figures were actually groundbreaking in the world of audio-animatronics. This was the first ever Disney ride to include all-electric audio-animatronic figures, and it was also the first to combine electric motors with 3D printing technology. For their time, they were incredibly innovative and represented a huge leap forward in what Disney could accomplish with their characters. The Inspiration Behind the Updates The new updates will take inspiration from the advancements seen in the figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. If you’ve seen videos or heard about what they’ve accomplished over there, you know that the technology has come a long way since Frozen Ever After first debuted. These improvements will help usher in the future of audio-animatronic technology, and this will be the first time we’ve seen it used in Disney World. Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics The goal with these new updates is to bring a more true-to-film look for Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. Think more realistic movements, better facial expressions, and an overall appearance that more closely matches what we see on screen. It’s going to be a significant improvement that brings these beloved characters to life in a whole new way. Which Camp Are You In? So whether you’re team “wait until it’s perfect” or team “one last ride,” we totally get both perspectives. There’s something special about experiencing an attraction one final time before it changes, but there’s also something exciting about waiting to see the finished product in all its glory. ©Disney No matter which camp you fall into, this refurbishment is shaping up to be a pretty big deal for the Norway Pavilion. Stay tuned to DisneyFoodBlog for all the latest updates on when Frozen Ever After reopens and what the new figures look like in person! Even Disney World’s most iconic attractions are always a work in progress. Haunted Mansion Another recently filed permit hints at upcoming work at one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic attractions. While Disney hasn’t announced any additional changes or closures, this latest filing gives us a clearer look at what kind of work could be taking place at one of the most visited attractions in the near future and what it could mean for your upcoming trip. Disney has quietly filed a new construction permit for Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, and while it doesn’t spell out exactly what we should expect, it does give us a clearer picture of what kind of work may be happening behind the scenes. Haunted Mansion The permit was filed with Orange County on January 13th and lists the location as 1600 Magic Kingdom Drive, the address associated with the Haunted Mansion. The scope of work is described broadly as “general construction,” which is typical for Disney permits that allow flexibility for a range of potential updates or improvements. According to the document, Walt Disney Imagineering is listed as the owner overseeing the project, with MLC Theming, Inc. named as the contractor. MLC Theming is a familiar name in the Disney project world, as the company frequently works on attraction theming, scenic elements, and refurbishment-related construction across Disney World. That detail alone suggests that this work is likely related to show elements, infrastructure updates, or long-term maintenance, rather than something public-facing, such as a new queue addition. A ghost will follow you home As with many Disney permits, the language remains intentionally vague. There’s no mention of new scenes, ride enhancements, or operational changes — just the legal framework allowing construction to begin. The permit also notes that the expiration date is tied to project completion and could last up to a year unless otherwise specified, but that’s fairly common for work of this nature. It’s the Hatbox Ghost! What makes this filing notable is when it appears. Haunted Mansion is one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic attractions, and Disney tends to take a proactive approach when it comes to preserving legacy rides, especially ones with complex show systems, special effects, and aging infrastructure. Even when changes aren’t immediately visible to you in the public eye, permits like this often signal preventative maintenance, backstage upgrades, or prep work that helps keep the attraction running smoothly long-term. If we had to take our best guess, that’s most likely all this permit aims to cover during its upcoming construction. Madame Leota At this point, Disney hasn’t announced any closures, refurbishments, or seasonal overlay changes tied to Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom. For now, this permit simply gives Disney the green light to begin work as needed, and it’s a reminder that even the most timeless attractions are constantly being maintained behind the scenes. As always, we’ll keep an eye out for additional permits, updates, or operational changes that could shed more light on what this project might involve. Until then, consider this a small but interesting glimpse into the ongoing care of one of Disney’s most beloved attractions and stay tuned with us at DFB for even more Disney news and updates to come! We’ve all been there – you go to watch your favorite movie, when all of a sudden, your screen looks pitch black! EEEK! (I’m looking at you, first 5 minutes of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone!”) Or even worse, you’re on the edge of your seat, but then all of the characters start whispering to each other? And then there’s background noise so loud you can’t hear them at all! (I’m sorry, “Oliver & Company,” I can’t lie anymore!) If you’re in the same boat, then Dolby has finally answered our prayers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A lot of TV shows are going through some things… Dolby, the company behind Dolby Surround Sound, has announced their newest tech to help solve your TV’s biggest problems. It debuted last week at the annual electronics trade show CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. The new tech will launch on the streaming service, Peacock, later this year, and here’s everything you need to know! Dolby is bringing two products to Peacock. The first is Dolby Vision 2, which will brighten screens and make colors more vivid. The second is Dolby AC-4, and it’s even more customizable. Viewers can adjust sounds on a personal basis, so you could turn up Mickey’s voice while keeping Minnie’s at the same volume. While specific controls haven’t been announced yet, NBCUniversal (Peacock’s parent company) executive David Bohunek said that Dolby AC-4 will be “a very simple control in our own UI.” There are no extra apps or software involved; everything will be built into the Peacock app once it’s released. TV at Disney’s Polynesian Resort rooms The idea stood out to Peacock after a recent phone call with Bohunek. Peacock is one of the biggest leaders in sports streaming – they currently stream the NFL’s Sunday Night Football, college football’s Big Ten Saturday, and are the only streaming service for this year’s Super Bowl LX on February 8th, 2026. During their first streaming exclusive game, Bohunek received a call from NFL executives wasn’t working – NFL execs wanted the crowd cheering to be louder, while the Peacock team felt that the sports announcers weren’t loud enough. Peacock jumped on Dolby’s new technology because it solves a problem sportscasts face often – a focus on the pro sports commentators or the atmosphere of roaring fans. Peacock Interface ©Peacock While we don’t have a specific release date yet, we do know that this tech will come out for livestreams of Sunday Night Football, which means it will come out sometime before the Super Bowl next month. Dolby Vision and Dolby AC-4 are expected to be released for non-sports programming later this year, which means your next movie night just got so much better. We’re sure lots of you have trips planned for Disney World this year, but beyond that, the demand to travel in 2026 is UP. Let’s take a look at what we can expect in this new year. Speaking of which, the agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! When you book your trip with Small World Vacations, their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings. They also compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. And they share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. According to Yahoo Finance, an estimated 5.2 billion people are expected to travel by air in the coming year. That’s up 4.4% from this year’s record-breaking passenger counts. Sarah Kennedy, Kayak travel trends expert, told Yahoo Finance, “Travel searches are rising, fares are falling, and more people are looking beyond the US for places to go.” Traveling Season So the question is, why is travel demand so high this year? Well, despite what you might think, travel is at a good price right now. “International airfares are down about 10% or more for summer travel, domestic is down 3%, and summer ‘26 long-haul fares to Europe and Asia are trending especially low, making 2026 prime for global trips,” Kennedy said. On top of all that, summer fares to Europe are down 14% from last summer. Do you travel often? People want to travel abroad and explore more of the world, and the price is allowing that to be easier than it has been in the past. 7 out of 10 of Kayak’s fastest-growing destinations are located in Eastern Europe — including Prague, Sofia, Krakow, Budapest, and Sarajevo. These destinations are also seeing some of the biggest drops in airfare — 36% over 2025. American Airlines Looks like it’s time for us to plan our big 2026 vacation — we don’t want to get left behind on the fun travel plans. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any travel news, flight discounts, and all that good stuff that can make travel cheaper and smoother.
