  1. Disney’s into twins, like Chip ‘n Dale and Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum. But one set of identical twins marries another set of identical twins, they get to be the stars at Disney World. That was the case when Zack Lewan married Krissie Bevier and Zack’s identical twin Nick married Krissie’s identical... View the full article
  2. If you thought you were seeing double yesterday at the Magic Kingdom, think again. Identical twin couples from Michigan spent their honeymoon week with a stay at Walt Disney World Resort. These two sets of identical twins do things in twos. They had their first date together and became engaged at the same time. And on Aug. 3, Zack Lewan married Krissie Bevier; and the very next day, Zack’s identical twin brother married Krissie’s identical twin sister, Kassie. After sharing a reception in Michigan they traveled to Walt Disney World Resort to honeymoon at the top-rated honeymoon destination. The newlyweds donned bride and groom mouse ears and matching shirts and had a fun day exploring the Magic Kingdom. It was the first-ever visit to Disney for the Lewan brothers and the gals were thrilled to show them all around the Vacation Kingdom. Throughout their stay they also checked out Pandora – The World of Avatar, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Disney Springs, but said the highlight was a meet and greet and congratulations by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Take a look as we captured their two love story. View the full article
  3. Disney World is feeding our Mermaid obsession again! What started out as one Mermaid cupcake became TWO Mermaid cupcakes… and SOON we’ll be getting a Mermaid Donut! Mermaid Donut at Prince Eric’s Village Market The folks at PopSugar had a chance to try this splash-tasic donut. As you can see, it’s for sure another Instagram-able treat from the pastry chefs at Disney. Mermaid Donut at Prince Eric’s Village Market This yeast donut (like a cake donut) is topped with purple icing, and some iridescent sprinkles (sticking with the iridescent trend). Then it is topped off with white chocolate shells and a mermaid tail. I mean, just “look at this stuff! Isn’t it neat?” Mermaid Donut at Prince Eric’s Village Market You’ll be able to pick this up at Prince Eric’s Village Market in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland “soon”. And when you do, you can pair it with the newly introduced Flavored Frozen Cokes or Lemonades from Prince Eric’s Village Market as well! 4. When I told you about August’s Hot Diggity Dog of the Month at Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom I, just like a lot of you, was intrigued. I just had to try this unconventional, cheesy concoction out for you! So at After Hours the other night, I did just that! Casey’s Corner This month’s Dog is for all of you fellow cheese lovers out there! The Cheesy Hot Diggity Dog is your choice of a regular or foot-long topped with Cheddar and Queso, and then I’ll say garnished with “Seasoned Cheese Puffs!” Cheesy Hot Diggity Dog at Casey’s Corner This feature had me at “Cheesy” and pulled me in more with “Cheddar”, and then “Queso”. As if this cheesy goodness wasn’t enough, they guaranteed I’d come visit with the promise of “Cheese Puffs”. Now some people I know told me they couldn’t fathom this. I could fathom it and couldn’t wait. Cheesy Hot Diggity Dog at Casey’s Corner I ordered the regular size and you can see it certainly is slathered in Queso and Cheddar and has a generous serving of Cheese Puffs. I was ready to dive into this baby. Cheesy Dog ©Disney As you can see my Dog did match the marketing photos put out by Disney, so reality meets expectations as far as looks. So before trying the dog as a whole, I grabbed a puff from the top. I noticed the cheese puffs were stale and off-brand. Now, we are never promised Cheetos, but I was kind of surprised at the sogginess with these. But charging ahead I took a bite of the whole dog…and I was impressed! I don’t understand it EITHER. Maybe it’s the creamy spiciness of the queso or the combo with the savory hot dog and cheddar; but altogether the dish was more than the sum of its parts and I really did enjoy it. I asked a manager about the staleness of the cheese puffs and she said they are aware of this issue and they are working on keeping them crisp, but the humidity of the kitchen is really causing a problem. Sounds like this is an issue that was unforeseen in the design of the dish. Would I recommend this? If you are a cheese fan and want to try something unique (and Instagram-able) dive in. If you are a Cheetos purist you might want to sit this one out. Casey’s Corner is located on Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. Will you be trying the Cheesy Dog this month? 5. With only a few weeks left for Pixar Fest, the time is now to make plans to attend one of the most amazing events at the Disneyland Resort. The Disney Parks Moms Panelists have enjoyed all the extra magic of Pixar Fest, and they have some tips for visiting the Disneyland Resort. Luckily, a few of their suggestions will actually extend beyond the end of Pixar Fest on September 3! “Although Pixar Fest ends September 3, you can still meet favorite Pixar characters at the newly reimagined Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure park! From Mr. and Mrs. Incredible and Edna Mode to Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Mike and Sully, all of your favorite characters are excited to meet you,” exclaimed Linda M. “They can be found in the different neighborhoods of Pixar Pier like Incredibles Park, Toy Story Boardwalk, and Pixar Promenade. Make sure to use the Disneyland app to look up exact times and locations when you are in the park.” For Jennifer L. it is all about the delectable snacks you must try! “Guests should make sure to stop by the Disneyland Resort to try the amazing Pixar-themed eats,” she said. “I look forward to enjoying more refreshing treats from Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats on Pixar Pier even after Pixar Fest concludes. The Pixar Pier Frosty Parfait is my favorite with its Lemon Soft-Serve and Blue Raspberry Swirl.” Courtney B. agrees with Jennifer, but adds that you also must try Angry Dogs, which is an “Inside Out”-themed hot dog stand, as well as Señor Buzz Churros. And let’s not forget the parades, reminds Linda. Did you catch the announcement on Disney Parks Blog that “Paint the Night” parade, as well as “Pixar Play Parade” have been extended past September 3? “‘Paint the Night’ is simply not to be missed! With the new addition of the Incredibles float, this parade is more magnificent than ever. Book a ‘Paint the Night’ Parade Dining Package to secure your viewing location in advance. The four-course meal at Carthay Circle Restaurant is beyond scrumptious and having a seat right along the parade route is a dream for any parade lover. Or consider the Sonoma Terrace Paint the Night Reception where you can munch on a plate of delicious meats and cheeses at your own table while the parade marches by. There is even a kids version of the charcuterie plate which makes this option totally family-friendly!” For more great last minute tips on enjoying Pixar Fest, or for other Disney vacation planning advice, be sure to visit DisneyParksMomsPanel.com for a personalized response from one of our knowledgeable panelists. 9. The Rivers of Light Dessert Party is a new offering in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Rivers of Light Crowd and Expedition Everest Dessert Parties such as the Frozen Ever After Dessert Party and the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties offer guests the chance to enjoy a dessert buffet before taking in a park’s nighttime spectacular in a reserved viewing area. Rivers of Light is Animal Kingdom’s nighttime spectacular, and while Rivers of Light Dining Packages have been available for some time now (which pairs a meal at a select Table Service restaurant with reserved seating), the Dessert Party is new to the scene! The experience starts with checking at the Rivers of Light Viewing Area directly across from the Expedition Everest attraction. (Your arrival time is set with your reservation — an hour and 15 minutes before the evening’s showtime.) Expedition Everest The Rivers of Light Viewing Area Terrace is where the dessert buffet is presented. Rivers of Light Dessert Party High top tables are set up around the event space for guests, but note that there aren’t many seats — if any — to be had. So while other dessert parties have tables with seats during the dining portion of the evening, Rivers of Light does not offer this guarantee. From the first look, you can tell that there is a decidedly different feel from the other Dessert Parties offered in the parks. Beverage Table Rivers of Light Dessert Party atmosphere Rivers of Light Dessert Party atmosphere Kicking off the culinary adventure is an assortment of fresh berries, mixed nuts, and cheese. Fresh Berries Nut Mixes and Cheese Then, things start to look even more interesting, as evidenced by the animal-print chocolate garnishes on the Yogurt Panna Cotta. Yogurt Panna Cotta Moving down the line, it’s clear that food items have been chosen and formed to reflect the unique beauty of the park, and are sophisticated and a bit higher end than what you’ll find at the other parties. For instance, the Pineapple Bars pair artistic garnishes with tropical flavor. Pineapple Bars Even otherwise simple cookies are given a makeover in honor of the park’s star residents: the animals! Animal Cookies Ditto for the Orange Tiger Cake Push Pop (Cream Cheese Frosting Alert)! Orange Tiger Cake Push Pop You know these are, like, a thing, right? The vanilla Rivers of Light Cupcakes are gorgeous and festive. Rivers of Light Cupcakes Among my favorite items were the distinctively flavored Green Tea Cake. Green Tea Cake Display Green Tea Cakes I also loved the Chocolate Flower Pot de Creme. Flower Pots de Creme This one is a very thick, rich chocolate ganache topped with chocolate cookie crumble “dirt” and garnished with edible flowers and a chocolate leaf. Flower Pots de Creme The best part? The pot itself is edible!! I asked the chef about the best way to eat this and she said “All in one bite!” Flower Pot de Creme Believe it or not, the beverages were another standout, and included plenty of standard non-alcoholic beverages like iced tea and some water to cool down on a warm evening. Beverage Table Of greater interest, though, were specialty concoctions like the Purple Lotus mocktail and Jungle Juice!! Jungle Juice and Purple Lotus drinks Alcoholic options are also included for of-age guests, and not only are they refreshing; they’re also unique. The Tiger Lily is a rum-based cocktail, while the Asia Chai Tea is a vodka-based drink with more complex flavors due to the spiced Monin Chai Tea. Adult Beverage offerings Chilled Drinks It’s a lovely display with several items that I really enjoyed. But I did miss the hot items and action stations that I’ve enjoyed so much at the Frozen Ever After and the Magic Kingdom After Fireworks Parties. And, as is the case with all of the Dessert Parties, there’s not enough there for guests with special diets — just cheese and fruit, basically. It really is a beautiful party; intimate and very well done. Dessert Array with non-alcoholic beverages (Something to note, though — since the party is new, they’re not yet selling all 60 tickets each night so it still feels intimate and exclusive. But it could become fairly crowded if it were maxed out.) Rivers of Light Dessert Party Guests are welcome to stay and watch from the Dessert Party area, and here’s the view. Viewing from the Dessert Party Area But the promise of great viewing was definitely fulfilled with reserved seating in the very front of the stands! The first five rows were reserved for Party attendees. And here’s something I want to stress: I felt like it wasn’t made super obvious that this was an option. A cast member told me at almost the last minute that I could go down here to watch the show. It’s possible I missed a general announcement at some point. But most people stayed in the Dessert Party area — not sure if they wanted to, or if they just didn’t know they had front row seating. Reserved seating at the front of the stands But the viewing is terrific from the front, and it’s something I don’t think you’ll want to miss! Rivers of Light Rivers of Light Projections Rivers of Light If you’re considering a Dessert Party at one of the parks, there are several things to consider even in addition to which shows you want to see the most. The Rivers of Light Dessert Party costs $79 per adult and $47 per child ages 3 to 9, which lines up similarly to the other Dessert parties, with the range starting at $69 (adults) and $41 (child) and topping out at $84 (adult) and $50 (kids). However, I do believe the $79 price tag for the Rivers of Light Party is high given that: 1. There are more limited food offerings, with no hot items or action stations. 2. There is no special add-on such as a popular attraction ride included (as it is with the Frozen Ever After Party). And 3. There are no fireworks at this particular show, and it’s pretty widely considered one of the lesser compelling nighttime shows currently. It’s still beautiful in its own right, but this is something to consider when it comes to deciding which dessert party to spend your money for. Rivers of Light For those reasons, it’s probably at the bottom of my Dessert Party list at this price point. It is indeed gorgeous, sophisticated, and memorable. But there’s not enough happening to truly get the bang for your buck in regards to sheer variety of food items, and even the nighttime show itself. The one thing that might sway this is that there is a more limited capacity for seating in the (relatively) small amphitheater for Rivers of Light, which makes a guaranteed seat a boon. A Portion of the Rivers of Light Theater But if you can see Happily Ever After or IllumiNations for this price… well, that would ultimately remain my recommendation. For now, it’s Good Night from Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Booking information for interested guests can be found here. Want to stay informed of ALL the Disney News?? 10. With so many creative and interesting snacks available at Disneyland Resort, it might seem like there’s no place for the simplest of treats: good ol’ fashioned Jell-o. But that’s where White Water Snacks steps in — in the most magical way possible. Because White Water Snacks has Mickey-shaped Jello! Mickey Jello! Woo! Back it up! Our Disneyland correspondent Heather (follow her @DiningInDisney!) stopped in for a snack recently, and discovered these jiggly mouse-shaped treats in a cooler in the grab-and-go section. Mickey Jello Also in this cooler are cream for coffee and packets of butter for other dishes — right next to a whipped cream canister. Mickey Jello and Whipped Cream! Heather being the intrepid Disneyland snacker that she is spotted an opportunity immediately. The thick strawberry Jello was a decent portion and honestly as cute as one might reasonably expect Jello to be. Mickey Jello And now she had the perfect Jello food hack: cover that sweet treat in delicious whipped cream! Whipped Cream and Mickey Jello! From every angle this has childhood favorite written all over it — only it’s not just a bowl of hastily spooned Jello. It’s Mickey! Mickey Jello Okay, so technically this is called Mickey Strawberry Gelatin, but we like to keep simple things simple: it’s Jell-o. And it’s delightful! Mickey Strawberry Gelatin And that’s how Mickey Jello with Whipped Cream was born! And we love it in every way! Mickey Jello and Whipped Cream is born! We’re so happy that the simplest food pleasures persist, even in the face of the incredible creativity and skill that brings pastries and desserts to life at the Disney Parks. And a food hack involving Whipped Cream? Always a win! Want to know more about unique snacks at Disneyland Resort? Click here to watch our DFB Guide YouTube video that covers all the good stuff! 11. In our Disney Doodle series, different Disney artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Buzzie, Flaps, Ziggy and Dizzy – the vultures from “The Jungle Book” – would do if they could visit Magic Kingdom Park. In the film, this foursome harmonize to sing “That’s What Friends are For” to cheer up Mowgli – by the end of the song, Mowgli joins in, singing along. So it’s only natural that the group would seek out some musical harmony at the park. “The vultures have amazing voices!” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine them being Dapper Dans for a day!” View the full article

  23. The August Burger of the Month at The Edison is another all-new burger inspired by the German Oktoberfest celebrations. The Edison Yes, the creative chefs at Disney Springs’ The Edison have done it again with a unique blend of meats creating a distinctive burger. The August Burger of the Month is The Brat Burger. The Brat Burger starts with The Edison’s signature blend of sirloin, short rib, brisket, and smoked bacon. THEN, they add juicy links of Unibroue beer-braised bratwurst, sauteed onions, and a spread of spicy mustard 24. The Brat Burger ©The Edison Now, if you’re wondering which drink would be the perfect pairing with your Brat Burger try the Weinhenstephan Hefeweissbier, a German wheat beer that will accompany the Brat Burger flavors in true German fashion. This blends the “dangerously delicious” flavors of apple and vanilla to end the summer with “sin“. The cocktail is a mixture of Redemption Rye, apple cider, Captain Morgan, vanilla extract and apple bitters.
