We love Disney World – but it’s expensive. When we went to find a cooling towel on a hot summer day, we were shocked to find that the Disney parks sell only one for $22.99! Our biggest tip to stay cool is to save your money and bring one from home. Cooling Towels To beat the Florida heat, you can stay hydrated with water fountains, Disney restaurants’ free water cups, and my personal strategy, running into the air conditioning. But when you’re on the go or in a long outdoor line, these affordable cooling towels will have your back. And they’re on sale! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Sukeen Cooling Towel comes in a four-pack with ten different color options. We have them in pink, blue, dark blue, and light grey. You can grab them in: black light grey dark grey light blue dark blue lake blue pastel blue green pink pastel pink Cooling towels They’re made of a hyper-evaporative, soft, and breathable mesh material that stays chilled for up to three hours. The unique cooling system uses moisture from the towel to draw the sweat away from your skin and keep you cool. Just soak the towel with cold water, wring it out, and you’re good to go! It’s perfect to cool you down during hot park days. Cooling Towel The towel is nice and compact to throw into your bag. Each cooling towel measures only 40 inches by 12 inches. It comes with a waterproof plastic carrying pouch with a carabiner clip to store it inside your bag or clip onto it. We’re not the only ones that love it – the Sukeen Cooling Towel is Amazon-recommended and has a 4.6-star review. Get a four-pack on Amazon at the link below for $11.13. That’s only $2.78 per towel! It’s hard to believe that it’s already 2026, which is bringing some pretty big changes to Disney World. We’re already seeing signs of construction…well…EVERYWHERE. The parks are getting expansions and new lands, rides are getting updated, hotels are getting new lobbies and rooms, and so much more. Main Street Station in Magic Kingdom However, you might think that this could mean that people might be staying away from Disney World this year, but we think the parks, specifically Magic Kingdom, could see more visitors in 2026. So we’re going to tell you WHY we think that. Cinderella Castle Update One of the big reasons that will be bringing more people to Magic Kingdom this year is that Cinderella Castle is about to look a lot different. Disney is ditching the pink hues of the 50th Anniversary Celebration and repainting the castle with silvers and blues again. That painting is set to happen early in the year, so you’ll have most of 2026 to enjoy it. ©Disney Everyone is going to want to see the Castle restored to something closer to its original look, so expect folks to crowd the Hub in Magic Kingdom to get those beloved Castle shots. Updated Rides Two rides in Magic Kingdom are in the process of getting some HUGE updates. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed for over a year while it gets everything from a new track, new scenery to help it blend into the upcoming Cars expansion in Frontierland, and a new Rainbow Caverns scene. It’s supposed to reopen in spring 2026. ©Disney Over in Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is also getting a huge update, with new vehicles, new blasters, and several new scenes. ©Disney With what will essentially feel like two new rides, we can imagine a lot of folks will have a renewed interest in visiting Magic Kingdom. Construction will add to the crowded feeling There is a lot of construction happening right now in Magic Kingdom, and the areas that held Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are closed off to visitors right now. That means fewer attractions to visit, as well as more crowded paths as folks make their way around the areas walled off by construction walls. Walls near the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom So even if Magic Kingdom doesn’t get more crowded in 2026, it’s going to certainly feel a little more crowded, especially with both Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed through the early part of the year. Carousel of Progress will also be getting an update at some point, so more closed rides mean more people in line for the rides that are open. People might skip Disney’s Animal Kingdom Disney’s Animal Kingdom is going to have a lot less to do once the rest of DinoLand, U.S.A. closes to make way for Pueblo Esperanza. With that being said, many people might think that Animal Kingdom isn’t worth wasting a full park day over. Even if those folks spend a half day at Animal Kingdom, if they’re park hopping, they might choose to add more time at Magic Kingdom (because it is the park with the most attractions). Magic Kingdom entrance A lot of folks could even skip Animal Kingdom altogether during their trips and just add on an extra day in Magic Kingdom. So that’s a whole lot more people visiting the park. Many will be making that Epic Universe trip We also think a lot of people who did not want to visit Epic Universe in 2025, when the park first opened, might finally take that Epic Universe trip in 2026. Now, a lot of people coming to Orlando like to visit both Universal AND Disney World, and if they have a choice of just one park in Disney World to see if they’re limited by how many days they have to visit, it’s probably going to be Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom We expect to see a lot of crossover vacationers visiting both Disney World and Epic Universe this year. The Deals Disney surprised everyone with some pretty major deals and discounts for trips to Disney World. One of those deals includes a free Disney Dining Plan for kids when a Disney Dining Plan is purchased for a vacation. There’s also an offer for hotel rooms for the summer of 2026: you can save up to 30% off on Disney hotel stays for most nights from May 1st through October 4th, 2026, for 5 or more consecutive nights. Pop Century Resort Perhaps an even better offer is the discount that gets you two free room nights and theme park days when you purchase a select 4-night, 4-day (or longer) Walt Disney Travel Company room and ticket package. So yes, Magic Kingdom might be a little more crowded in 2026, but we’ll be sure to keep giving you our best tips and tricks to deal with the crowds and have the best Disney World vacation possible, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 3 Things Airlines Wish You’d Stop Doing When You Travel to Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Construction is a major fact of life at Disney World right now, with major projects underway in the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. However, even with these massive ongoing projects, there are some indications that Disney is growing even further. @bioreconstruct on X In December of 2025, several construction permits were filed for various projects across the resort, which may hint at future expansions, big and small. Don’t fret if you missed them amongst all the hubbub of the Holiday Season; however, we’ve rounded them up for you. Gideon’s owner, Steve Lewis, wrote, in part, “So with that, I introduce you to Six Ravens. This new concept specializes in a creation we call Coffyns, the original term for an old school hand pie. This fluffy yeast bread is filled with flavors created not only by the talented minds in Gideon’s kitchen but also by some of your favorite Orlando culinary superstars. Combine that with potatoes, local draft beer, and, of course, some tasty desserts, and you will have a fun new place to fuel your park adventures.” ©Six Ravens REVIEW: We Have To Say It; This Might Be The Best Gideon’s Bakehouse Cookie at Disney Springs YET As construction spreads across Walt Disney World, Disney’s latest permits expand on these current projects as well as hinting towards further future expansion. This year is as HUGE one for Star Wars fans. This is the year we’ll finally get to see The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters. As a result, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting a HUGE update in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disney World and Disneyland. Disneyland is also getting original trilogy characters in Batuu. ©Disney We also have Ahsoka season 2 to look forward to on Disney+. Speaking of which, ANOTHER new Star Wars animated series is coming to Disney+ even sooner: Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord will premiere on Disney+ on April 6th. Well, ahead of that big premiere, Disney has dropped the first trailer for the show. The new Maul-focused series will begin with a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on April 6th, followed by two episodes each week, building up to a finale on May the 4th (appropriately enough). The series picks up after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Maul is on a mission to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet that exceeds the reach of the Empire. He’ll end up becoming Master to a young Padawan who’s become disillusioned with the Jedi Order. Check out the first trailer below: For those who’ve seen Solo: A Star Wars Story, you might be wondering if this series will show what will essentially become Crimson Dawn, the criminal organization that Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) is revealed to be a part of. Well, it certainly looks like a possibility, judging from the brief description we have. I’m crossing my fingers and toes, y’all! ©Disney Maul — Shadow Lord also has a stellar voice cast. Sam Witwer, who voiced the character in The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Solo, is back as Maul. The voice cast also includes Gideon Adlan, Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee Wagner Moura, and British comedian Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd). Spring Break flights to Disney World don’t have to be outrageous. Southwest Airlines If you know which airlines to watch (and what prices to jump on), there are still some seriously good airfare deals out there right now. We rounded up the five airlines showing the best Spring Break pricing to Orlando, and why each one is worth checking first! Spring Break airfare to Orlando can get painful in a hurry, but a few airline companies are still showing surprisingly good prices (especially if you can fly mid-week or you’re flexible with which nearby airport you depart from!) If you’re trying to get to Disney World without blowing your whole trip budget before you even buy tickets, these are five airlines worth checking first. Southwest Checking out Southwest’s cheap flights to Orlando, we ran across spring break pricing as low as $49 one-way on select routes and dates. ©Southwest Southwest tends to have lots of Orlando service, and its low-fare calendar can make it easier to hunt down the cheapest days, making it a stellar option if you’re hunting a deal! And their latest deal keeps your fares nice and low if you time your flights just right. NEW Rules Hit Southwest Airlines This Month JetBlue JetBlue is advertising flights to Orlando “as low as $49 one-way,” with multiple Northeast-to-Orlando routes showing low fares on their deals page. ©JetBlue This airline is a GREAT option for East Coast flyers who want a budget-friendly fare without feeling super bare-bones! JetBlue Airways Is Adding NEW Nonstop Flights to Orlando Airport in 2026 United Airlines United’s Orlando deals page is currently showing examples as low as $97 roundtrip on select routes and dates (including Washington, D.C. area airports to MCO). ©United If you’re coming from a United hub (or have MileagePlus miles to use), these can be sneaky-good prices for late winter and early spring travel. What Your Airline Does (and Does NOT) Owe You for Flight Delays and Cancellations American Airlines A quick check of American’s flights to Orlando shows several sample round-trip fares starting around $216 roundtrip on select city pairs and date ranges. ©American Airlines American has tons of Orlando inventory, so you can sometimes find a “normal” price even when everything else is spiking. American Airlines Makes BIG Change to Rewards Program Delta Delta’s Orlando deals currently list sample itineraries (including some routes showing low to mid $300s roundtrip ranges on select dates). ©Delta While not always the cheapest, when Delta drops to around $300 during Spring Break, it can be a strong value for service and reliability. Delta Expands One of Its BEST Airport Perks When you spot a fare you like, double-check what’s included, like bags, seat selection, and other amenities. Deal pages often show the lowest fare types, and those can add fees fast. We’re always looking out for the best ways to help you save on your next travels and trips to Disney, so be sure you’re following along with us so you don’t miss a thing! When it comes to which shoes are best to bring on a Disney World vacation, it’s no surprise that our readers have plenty of opinions! What shoes do you wear in the parks? Few things are more important than the right shoes during a Disney World vacation. You’ll be walking miles upon miles as you bounce from ride to ride, getting your drinks Around the World, and trekking along the Animal Kingdom walking trails — so taking care of your feet is literally the difference between a successful Disney day and painful misery. We asked YOU — the readers — which shoes you think are the best for the Disney Parks, and ya’ll provided some really great options! Here’s how the shoes ranked after the final tally… DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. First Place — HOKA When we conducted our poll, we had some inkling of which shoes would come out on top — since we’ve become Disney World shoe experts ourselves over the decades. That’s why we’re not surprised that HOKA shoes were the overwhelming favorite. Hoka Clifton 10 Sneakers One DFB reader wrote, “Great cushion and comfort for your feet. Your feet don’t get tired of wearing them multiple days while walking 20,000 steps. Variety of fun colors blends with my Disney vibe. They’re quite bouncy when you step so there’s tons of support at the heel but it also was a great fit for those with high arches to their feet (like me). The backs of the Rincon 4s bothered the back of my heels but the Clifton 10s sure didn’t.” We love the cushion! We agree! Built for long-term use, they keep a firm look about them while still providing plenty of spring to your step. One of our teammembers said that “HOKAs fit around your foot in a cradling way instead of leaving you feeling like you’ve added pounds to your feet with each step.” Ultra-cushioned, comfortable, supportive, and springy — HOKAs take the top spot on our list. BUY ON AMAZON Second Place — New Balance New Balance has had quite a resurgence these last few years. No longer known as “the ’90s dad shoe”, these shoes have skyrocketed in popularity among the general public and ranked second in the poll. ©Amazon One reader said, “While the model may change, I’ve never had blisters or any pain from any model of New Balances, so it’s a ‘safe’ shoe for me to bring and know my feet won’t be an issue.” ©Amazon New Balance shoes aren’t as flashy as HOKAs, but they provide an undeniable dependability that you can count on during a Disney World trip. Still, these shoes are catching up in style, all while providing all-day comfort that your feet will thank you for after a long day in the parks. Dads were really onto something in the 1990s, and the trend they started lives on today. BUY ON AMAZON Third Place — Skechers ©Amazon Skechers slip-ons came in third in our polling! While these shoes aren’t built for speed necessarily, they do make your feet feel supported and like they’re being air-conditioned. These shoes offer a real respite for long — and humid — Disney days when all you want to do is keep your feet cool and cozy. One reader wrote, “I have arthritis in my feet and can do Disney all day and still not be in pain” ©Amazon Of course, there are more performance-enhancing Skechers you can check out on Amazon as well! Overall, Skechers are lightweight, easy to slip on, and a comfortable pick for Disney-goers looking for great arch support and a cushioned fit. BUY ON AMAZON Fourth Place — Brooks Called “comfortable, bouncy, and supportive” by one DFB reader, Brooks sneakers are built for runDisney events and Disney fans who take a more energetic approach to their Disney days. ©Amazon Whether you’re trying to keep up with your hyper kids or walk at a brisk pace to make a reservation, Brooks can give you a leg up. Brooks Ghost 17s Built for runners but loved by Disney Parks experts, Brooks shoes provide the bounce and support needed for long park days. Breathable yet reliable, these shoes handle the stress of a long day at a hot theme park very well. BUY ON AMAZON Fifth Place — Chacos Sandals aren’t always the obvious choice for theme park attire, but they can be great options for folks looking to give their feet some air or those who want to take it slow at Animal Kingdom. ©Amazon Chacos were the top sandal choice of DFB readers, with one writing, “They work on all terrains, have great arch support, and do fine when wet.” They hold up well against puddles and rainstorms, bumpy roads, and long days of walking. ©Amazon Built to survive adventure, Chacos are tougher than they look, providing terrific traction, arch support, and adaptability that is ideal for a climate like Central Florida. BUY ON AMAZON Honorable Mention — ASICS Of ASICS, one DFB reader wrote, “They have a good amount of support while still feeling really soft and cushy! I also like them because they have a slightly larger toe box than many other shoes I have tried on, making them great for anyone with toe issues, like ingrown toenails. I have been wearing them for close to two years now, and they are still supportive.” ASICS These are designed to amplify performance and strenuous activity. BUY ON AMAZON Honorable Mention — Nike One DFB reader said Nike shoes are “cute, comfortable, supportive, and almost waterproof. I can walk through a puddle without soggy socks.” ©Amazon Nikes are often reliable, sporty, and stylish. It is important to mention, however, that you need the perfect fit, or you can risk chafing. BUY ON AMAZON Honorable Mention — Crocs While they are goofy-looking, it’s hard to argue against the comfort of Crocs. ©Amazon They’re oddly practical. One reader wrote, “No issue if they get wet.” They are available in a bunch of different styles and theming — meaning you’ll also fit in better wearing them at Disney World than maybe anywhere else! BUY ON AMAZON Honorable Mention — Clarks If you’re looking for open-toed shoes, Clarks may be the way to go. A DFB reader wrote, “I hate any kind of close-toed shoes/sneakers in the parks. These are light and airy flip-flops, but with a supportive arch and Cloudstepper cushioning (I switch them out about every 6 months, but someone who doesn’t wear flip-flops often could go longer, I’m certain). I have some slight problems with my arch and even my Dr approves these.” ©Amazon Comfy and stylish, these flip-flops are well-regarded and great for a park day. Honorable Mention — Flux Flux shoes have a high-tech look about them, and, as one reader puts it, allow you to “walk for miles.” ©Amazon Comfy, high-quality, and offering good support, these shoes could be perfect for your next Disney World vacation. BUY ON AMAZON Honorable Mention — Vans Vans aren’t ideal for long park days, but if you’re only planning on walking for a few hours, they are a great choice. ©Amazon One reader wrote, “Vans for the parks, Croc sandals (open toe) for the time at the hotel/pool/etc.” Stylish and classic, these shoes look great and feel great so long as you don’t log much more than 12,000 steps — otherwise, you’re in for some possible blisters. BUY ON AMAZON Honorable Mention — On Cloud On Cloud Sneakers look kinda funky, but they’re also ultra-lightweight and make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud. ©Amazon One DFB reader wrote, “Super comfortable and lightweight. Absolutely zero foot fatigue or any knee or calf strain.” The shoes’ cushioning absorbs all sorts of vibrations and obstacles, making sure your feet stay supported and comfy every step. Okay, we’ll admit that we LOVE Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s just so fun to walk into that land and feel like we’ve been shrunk down to the size of a toy playing in Andy’s backyard. We also love riding Slinky Dog Dash every chance we get and trying to beat our high score on Toy Story Mania. And, well, y’all know how obsessed we are with the Totchos at Woody’s Lunch Box. New places to sit! But we have a few complaints about Toy Story Land. The first is that there is a serious lack of shade…apparently, Andy’s backyard doesn’t have a single tree. But another complaint is that there aren’t a lot of places to sit, and that’s even considering if you’ve ordered something from Woody’s Lunch Box, because sometimes seating is full there. Well, the second problem has officially been fixed: there is now new seating in Toy Story Land. Yes, that’s right, there is now an actual seating area outside Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land. You’ll find it just outside the path that leads to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There are tables and chairs, so it’s a great spot to eat if you’re grabbing something at the new snack stand or if there isn’t seating available at Woody’s Lunch Box. It’s also great if you just need a spot to rest your legs for a bit. New seating area Here’s another look to give you an idea of where it’s located: it’s basically across from the Alien Swirling Saucers entrance. Across from Alien Swirling Saucers It’s not a HUGE seating area, but any extra seating in that area is greatly appreciated, AND there’s even a little shade there! So if you’re looking for a spot to chill out for a bit, keep a lookout for this new spot. We’ll keep an eye out for more news in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for ALL the updates. Universal just made a huge Pokémon announcement — and it could change everything! ©Pokémon A brand-new interactive Pokémon experience is officially on the way, but it’s launching exclusively in one Universal park first. Here’s why this announcement is both amazing and frustrating at the same time. Universal Destinations & Experiences and The Pokémon Company just made a major announcement that has fans buzzing around the world! An all-new immersive, interactive Pokémon experience is officially in the works, and it will debut at Universal Studios Japan. While little has been revealed about the specifics, the project promises to bring the world of Pokémon to life in ways that go far beyond the typical meet-and-greets and show elements we’ve seen so far. Universal Orlando Resort The announcement outlines a plan to develop “more innovative, immersive, and world-class Pokémon experiences” that build on an existing partnership dating back to 2021. That partnership has already delivered themed parades and seasonal shows at Universal Studios Japan, but this new initiative aims to elevate the concept with interactive, fan-first attractions that go deeper into gameplay and world-building. ©Pokémon In statements released with the news, Mark Woodbury — Chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences — said the collaboration will allow Universal’s teams to push creative boundaries and “bring its vibrant world to life in new and innovative ways.” Tak Murayama — Executive Vice President of Universal Studios Japan — highlighted the park’s history with Pokémon entertainment and said the new project will “transcend traditional entertainment” with experiences fans have never seen before. Tsunekazu Ishihara — President and CEO of The Pokémon Company — noted that the timing coincides with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and reflects the franchise’s mission to “enrich both the real and virtual worlds.” ©Pokémon Here’s the catch: this experience will launch exclusively at Universal Studios Japan first! That means Universal fans in the U.S. or elsewhere won’t be able to try these immersive Pokémon elements right away, at least not initially, without a trip to Japan. While Universal has confirmed that similar experiences are planned for parks around the world, including in the United States, no specific timeline, location, or ride/theme details have been released yet. ©Universal Studios Japan The Japan-first rollout follows a pattern Universal has used before. For example, Super Nintendo World debuted first in Osaka in 2021 before later opening versions in Hollywood and Orlando. Fans often see the most ambitious versions of new lands or attractions in Japan first, with adaptations later on for parks in the U.S. and other regions. Mario and Luigi! Universal has yet to share whether this new Pokémon experience will be a single attraction, an entire themed land, or some type of interactive world akin to Super Nintendo World’s gameplay areas, and there’s no confirmed opening date either. It’s not out of the realm of possibility to speculate that it could include ideas like ride experiences, AR-style interactive zones, or even gameplay integrations that blur the line between digital games and physical theme park environments like we’ve already seen Universal accomplish. For now, Pokémon fans and theme park enthusiasts will have to keep an eye on Japan for the first look at this next-level experience and wait patiently for details about when similar interactive fun will land at Universal parks closer to home. We’ll continue to keep you updated as we learn more about this Pokémon experience and how it’s shaping up! Be sure to stay tuned with us right here at DFB for it all. We’ll admit that we were really excited to learn that the Garden View Tea Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa would finally be reopening this year after being closed since 2020 (we were starting to wonder if it would ever reopen). ©Disney We recently even got a reopening date (yes, it’s REALLY happening): March 19th. Disney even gave us a sneak peek at the restaurant, along with a look at the new Alice in Wonderland-inspired menu. Now, Disney has revealed the pricing for afternoon tea at Garden View Tea Room after it reopens. Having afternoon tea at the reopened Garden View Tea Room will cost you a bit more (which is to be expected because it has been closed for almost six years, and we’ve seen NUMEROUS food and drink price increases since then). You’ll pay $79 per adult and $49 per child for afternoon tea service. This is more than what you would have paid before the restaurant closed. ©Disney However, this is still significantly cheaper than having afternoon tea at The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney’s BoardWalk. There, afternoon tea will run you $95 per adult and $65 per child. Also, for comparison, breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom will run you $76 per adult and $47 per child, while lunch and dinner prices are $89 per adult and $54 per child. However, you also get a character dining experience and bigger food portions at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Cinderella’s Royal Table So what will that price at Garden View Tea Room get you? You’ll get your choice of tea from Twining Loose Leaf Tea Selections, as well as a Disney World-exclusive tea, Orangery of Lady Grey. Cast Members will help you customize your tea choices with aromatics and sweeteners. Cocktails are also available. You’ll also be served three tiers of food, including savory tarts, rolls, and sandwiches, as well as Alice in Wonderland-inspired sweet treats. ©Disney The children’s tea will get special Alice in Wonderland-inspired sweet and savory treats. ©Disney Reservations for the Garden View Tea Room open on February 19th, so if you’re looking to book this experience, you’ll want to mark your calendar. We expect the tea room to be very busy for a while after it reopens. We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney World restaurant updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Disney World is CHANGING, and it’s all starting in 2026! New lands, new attractions, new restaurants, and much more are coming to the parks this year. With all these changes happening, it’s no wonder that we Disney Adults need to follow a few new rules this year. Magic Kingdom If you’re heading to the parks in 2026, please consider these unspoken rules for Disney World this year. Unlike in other years, these “rules” will help you out now that the parks are looking a bit different. Securing Our Lounge Reservations FIRST As Disney Adults, you’ll definitely want to check out the new lounges in the parks this year! In 2025, Disney opened two new lounges, one in EPCOT and one in Magic Kingdom. GEO-82 is the new lounge in EPCOT that is in Spaceship Earth, while The Beak and Barrel is the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge in Magic Kingdom. Inside GEO 82 GEO-82 is for those 21 years and older, but the whole family can enjoy the theatrical Beak and Barrel. Clarified New York Sour at GEO-82 These two lounges have continued to be popular since they opened, and if you want to check them out (which we highly recommend), you’ll need to make reservations. Reservations can disappear rather quickly for both lounges, so in order to ensure you actually get a seat, you may want to change your reservation game and grab these FIRST. The Beak and Barrel Usually, you might want to grab a very popular table-service restaurant first, but now we recommend changing your own rules and grabbing a reservation for Beak and Barrel or GEO-82 first if they are a priority for you. Siren’s Whisper Waiting To Go to Disney World Until 2027 If you’re prepping for a BIG trip that will extend for a week or longer, we might actually say hold off on doing it until 2027. 2026 is a big construction year for Disney World, with a lot of the new attractions and experiences opening in 2027 (or later). So instead of taking a really big and long trip this year, wait one more year. Tropical Americas Land (Pueblo Esperanza) construction That being said, quick trips to Disney World this year might be the way to go. Dropping by for a weekend getaway, hitting up a special event like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, or Jollywood Nights, or just visiting for a few days with the intention of only doing a few things, could be a better way to do Disney World in 2026. Jollywood Nights If you can swing shorter, quicker trips this year and save up for a BIG trip next year, we would suggest doing so while we’re in a building year at the parks. Then, you’ll have more time to experience all the brand-new things in 2027! Construction at Magic Kingdom You do not want to miss out on the new lounges, Geo 82 and Beak and Barrel, but you gotta make a reservation if you want a chance at getting into these popular spots. And if you’re gearing up for a BIG week-long or longer trip to Disney World, you might wanna wait a year, because even more new things are on the horizon. In the meantime, take advantage of those small trips to Disney World for festivals and events! And remember, we’re here at DFB to help you make the best of your trip, no matter how quick or long it is. It’s starting to get hard keeping up with all the changes happening in Disney World. Three of the four theme parks are getting BIG changes with new lands, expansions, and rides. Some Disney World hotels are getting new hotel lobbies and rooms. Even Disney World restaurants are changing. Hassun at Takumi Tei One restaurant, in particular, Takumi-Tei, in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion, might also be changing soon, at least according to the restaurant’s hours on the Disney World website. Let’s take a look at the changes. Takumi-Tei is normally closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but according to the Disney World website, the restaurant will be open on both Tuesday and Wednesday, starting in March. We attempted to confirm this with the restaurant itself, but we got no answer, and the restaurant’s answering service said that the restaurant would still be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. That being said, we were able to book a reservation for those dates! Takumi-Tei Takumi-Tei is a restaurant that offers pre-fixe “omakase” tasting menus, as one might have in Japan. This is basically a tasting menu that’s left up to the chef, so you never know what you’re going to get, but it will be a special dining experience with a meal curated by the restaurant’s chef. Inside Takumi-Tei It’s likely that the restaurant extended its hours due to Spring Break, which generally starts in March. This is when we see high concentrations of crowds in Disney World, meaning more people will need places to eat. Note that Takumi-Tei is still only open for dinner, though. We’ll keep an eye on all the restaurants in Disney World and keep you updated on changes, so stay tuned to DFB for more. No Lie. If you have a Disney World vacation coming up, your days at Magic Kingdom are going to look very differently from what you were expecting! Magic Kingdom Starting on January 28th, changes will be hitting the “Let The Magic Begin” welcome show, “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire”, AND Magic Kingdom’s nighttime spectacular, “Happily Ever After.” Let’s take a look at the details! It was confirmed back in the summer of 2025 that the Cinderella Castle was going to undergo a makeover, and the time is almost here! Next week, we’re going to see the moat around the castle drained, and work being done on the park’s icon as the painting begins. Cinderella Castle Work isn’t expected to be complete until later next year, but don’t worry, you won’t have to say goodbye to looking at the castle entirely. It was stated that the cranes around the castle should be lowered by 12 PM (noon) each day at the latest — making it easier for you to take those iconic castle photos. We’re excited to see the castle return to its original color scheme of blues, grays, and gold accents. A color scheme we haven’t seen since 2020, when the castle was repainted to celebrate the park’s 50th anniversary. Magic Kingdom So, that brings us to the three shows that take place on the stage of the castle. You’re probably thinking, “If work is being done on the castle, what happens to the shows?” Let’s start with the show that begins your day at Magic Kingdom, “Let the Magic Begin”! This is a show that typically opens the park, as you’re greeted by Mickey Mouse and his pals, welcoming you into the Magic Kingdom. Goofy and Tiana singing and dancing at Let the Magic Begin Now, this welcome show that usually takes place at 8:55 AM is no longer showing times starting on January 28th. This is subject to change as construction moves on, so check on the My Disney Experience App for the latest updates. Let The Magic Begin Alright, let’s look at Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. This show takes place in the morning and is a musical extravaganza as Mickey and his pals make new friends with various iconic Disney characters. The show features your favorite music and characters from Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and Frozen. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire As of the 28th, the show is moving to an afternoon-only schedule — with showtimes at 1 PM, 2:05 PM, 4 PM, and 5:15 PM. This also means that Disney will be reducing daily performances! Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire Lastly, we know you’re all wondering what’s happening with the nighttime spectacular — Happily Ever After. Happily Ever After is a very popular show that features amazing fireworks, projection mapping, and music. Don’t worry, Happily Ever After WILL still be happening every night. However, because of the projection mapping feature, there will be minor adjustments to the show as needed during this transformation process. Happily Ever After The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! When you book your trip with Small World Vacations, their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings. They also compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. And they share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. It will be cool to see the Magic Kingdom back in its original form after a little over half a decade. Make sure to pay attention and prepare for these show changes as the castle undergoes its makeover. Frozen Ever After has been one of EPCOT’s most popular experiences since it opened nearly a decade ago (yes, it really has been that long). However, a major change is coming to Arendelle that’s going to change the way guests experience the ride forever. Frozen Ever After In 2025, Disney announced a long-awaited update would be coming to Frozen Ever After’s animatronics in 2026, which is sure to make the ride even more popular — and more crowded — going forward. However, there are ways to make sure your ride goes well. Check Out the New Animatronics Let’s start with those aforementioned updates. In 2025, Disney announced that the attraction’s Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff animatronics would be receiving upgrades similar to the highly regarded figures from the Hong Kong version. Frozen Ever After is scheduled to close for refurbishment on January 26th, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen in February 2026. Frozen Ever After animatronics (EPCOT) These new animatronics will be replacing the ones that have been present since the attraction opened, which used projection instead of traditional sculpting for the figures’ faces. While some liked this look, seeing it as true to the original animation, others felt the approach was very uncanny valley, giving them a “creepy” bulb-headed look. ©Disney Frozen Ever After Hong Kong Disneyland Many fans have been waiting for this change for years, and in turn, the attraction is sure to get even busier, which brings us to… Use a Lightning Lane! According to our weekly wait times data, Frozen Ever After is often one of EPCOT’s busiest rides, and that’s sure to only go up — at least temporarily — once the new animatronics debut. Therefore, you may want to do your best to book a Lightning Lane for the attraction (Lightning Lanes can be purchased 7 Days in advance for Disney hotel guests, and 3 days in advance for all other guests) as early as possible. Frozen Ever After Lightning Lane and Standby Line sign in EPCOT Just bear in mind, if you prebook a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Frozen Ever After, you won’t be able to book one for EPCOT’s other Tier 1 attractions, Test Track, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Of note, EPCOT’s busiest ride — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — is only available for the separate Lightning Lane Single Pass option. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Enjoy it with a Child Who Loves Frozen, if Possible Between those long (soon to be longer) lines and the fact that many Disney adults still hold a bit of a grudge with the attraction for replacing the beloved EPCOT institution, Maelstrom. However, if one is able to see the attraction through the eyes of a Frozen-loving child, that grudge will melt away (no, we couldn’t avoid that pun) and they’ll be able to let it go (nope, couldn’t avoid that one either) and enjoy the improved attraction for what it is. Frozen Ever After With new changes — and corresponding crowds — coming to Frozen Ever After in 2026, keep these tips in mind to make your journey with Anna, Elsa, and co. flow smoothly. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently appointed two new members to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) Board — the special district that services Disney World’s roads, water, public safety, and other municipal needs. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight District With this change, there are officially no members of the original board appointed by the Governor in 2023, following a controversial takeover of the former Reedy Creek Improvement District created by Disney and the Florida legislature in 1967. Matt Ravenscroft and David Woods were recently named new members of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board, following appointments by Governor DeSantis. The Governor took control of the district and the board as part of a political battle with Disney. Obtained via ClickOrlando Livestream What first began as apparent retaliation for Disney’s response to the Parental Rights in Education law (often criticized as the “Don’t Say Gay” law) rapidly spiraled into a hostile war between the state government and a massive company. After outlining his plan of attack against Disney, DeSantis and his newly-appointed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board (formerly the Reedy Creek Improvement District) granted themselves “superior authority” and declared the previous Board’s agreements with Disney to be void. Disney swiftly responded by suing the governor and the entire District Board in federal court. Ultimately, the two parties came to an agreement, and it has been (mostly) smooth sailing since then. Disney vs. DeSantis With these latest appointments, though, what was left of the original board appointed by DeSantis in 2023 is now gone. Bridget Ziegler and Brian Aungst Jr. were the last two original board members, who have been replaced by Matt Ravenscroft and David Woods. According to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District website, the board members are as follows: Alexis Yarbrough (Chair) John Gilbert Matt Ravenscroft David Woods Scott Workman Reedy Creek Improvement District Ravenscroft, one of the two new members, is the Executive Vice President and Director of Sunrise Bank in Orlando. Previously, he served as a senior vice president at Old Florida Bank, United Heritage Bank, and Citrus Bank. Ravenscroft attended the University of Central Florida and earned his associate’s degree from Valencia College. Woods is an attorney at Woods & Woods, P.A., working in real estate, wills, trusts, and estates. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from Florida State University and his juris doctor from St. Thomas University. Here at Disney Food Blog, we love a good macaron. No matter the coast or continent, the Disney Parks are macaron experts. What’s not to love about a soft almond cookie filled with sweet icing? So we had to run at light speed to try Disneyland’s newest macaron! Moonliner Macaron Alien Pizza Planet at Disneyland is known for its pizza, pasta, and salads, but its new star menu item is neither of those. It’s a macaron cookie! The Moonliner Macaron is available at Alien Pizza Planet for $8.79. It’s a rocket-shaped macaron shell filled with salted caramel buttercream, chocolate ganache, and brownie pieces. Then it’s topped with a white chocolate Pizza Planet logo. This macaron is adorable – even if we didn’t love the taste, we’d still give it bonus points for how cute it is, but luckily, it tastes even better than it looks! Moonliner Macaron The macaron itself was chewy, moist, and delicate – the perfect texture! The salted caramel buttercream had a buttery texture with a rich and salty flavor. The chocolate ganache was rich and sweet without overpowering the caramel. We were caught off guard by the mini brownie in the center compared to the brownie pieces the menu listed, since we assumed it would be mixed in or on top of the buttercream, but we still enjoyed the brownie itself. Moonliner Macaron We loved this macaron. The chocolate flavors were complementary to the caramel without being overpowering. It’s still a caramel-forward dessert with a hint of chocolate. If you’re feeling something more chocolatey, we like their chocolate chip cookie for $5.29. Moonliner Macaron With Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, Alien Pizza Planet has some limited-time offerings you also have to try. Grab a souvenir sipper, travel tumbler, bottle topper, or bucket along with a to-go macaron on your way out of the park! ©Disney Alien Pizza Planet also has some new treats for Valentine’s Day, including a Stitch and Angel Heart Bucket for $22.99 and another new macaron, the Valentine-themed Alien Macaron for $8.79. It’s two Green Alien heart eyes macaron shells filled with vanilla buttercream and berry cheesecake. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for our review of their Valentine’s Day macaron! Bringing a water bottle to Disney World is EXTREMELY important, no matter what time of year it is. Rapunzel Owala While it’s most important during the hot days of summer to ensure you don’t get dehydrated or suffer from overheating, you can get dehydrated at any time of year, so we recommend bringing a water bottle with you no matter when you’re heading into the parks. We’ve tried out lots of different water bottles, but when it comes down to it, a lot of people are deciding between three popular brands — Owala, Stanley, and Yeti. So, which one should you choose? We’ve done the research to help you decide! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Stanley IceFlow Stanley IceFlow When it comes to bringing a water bottle to the park, we’re not kidding when we say that nearly EVERYONE on our team has decided that the Stanley IceFlow is the way to go. Not only have we tried them for work, but many of us own them as our own personal water bottles as well! The lid and sipper What we really love about this water bottle is that there are numerous sizes to choose from, but all of them are slim and easy to carry around while also holding a great amount of water (AND keeping it cold throughout the day!). We also really appreciate that the top comes apart very easily to really clean it well! After being in Disney World with that water that doesn’t taste the greatest, that’s extra important. We’re big fans! This is absolutely our top pick, so if you need any other push to grab one, this is it. Grab one right here! Owala Rapunzel Owala Very close behind the Stanley is none other than the Owala water bottle. This is a brand that proves itself time and time again, and we really appreciate that it doesn’t sweat on the outside (even on the hottest days), and the handle flips up and down super easily to really make sure the lid on the drinking spout doesn’t become exposed to germs. The locking lid These are slim, easy to carry around the parks, and also keep your drinks cold for the majority of the day. While they’re still pretty easy to take apart and clean, there are a few aspects we wish were a little easier. It’s also CRAZY durable — we’ve dropped ours on the ground more times than we can count, and while it does get a few scratches and scrapes, it never affects the way the water bottle functions. We love our Owala water bottle! If you’re not a big fan of the Stanleys, or you just want something that will cover the spout totally, this is the way to go! Grab one right here! Yeti Our Yeti! While the Yeti water bottle is still a great water bottle all around, when compared to the other two, it’s our least favorite. It’s pretty bulky, but thanks to its vacuum seal, it does fantastic at keeping the temperature of whatever liquid is inside the bottle. However, while that’s great, we feel it’s TOO bulky to make it easy to carry around the parks. It’s pretty bulky While the flip top for the straw is easy to use, it’s exposed to the outside air, and we’re not a big fan of the fact that the handle is static and can’t flip down. Again, it’s not a bad water bottle by any means, but out of the three, unless the most important thing is keeping your drink as cold as possible and you don’t care about a flush design, we’d choose the Owala or Stanley over the Yeti any day. Grab one right here! We like all of these water bottles for different reasons, but if we had to pick one, it would be the Stanley! Congratulations to Stanley for winning the major smackdown, although you really can’t go wrong with any of these three. It’s up to you and your preferences, which is why we tested them all! We’re continuously trying out new products in the park to help you decide what’s best for you, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news! View the full article
