If you are paying a visit to Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, you’ll want to know about two new options for dining, both of them brought to you by 4 Rivers Smokehouse of Orlando! 4R Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck in Disney Springs You may be familiar with the 4R Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck in Disney Springs, and now two walk-up versions of 4 Rivers Smokehouse and 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa restaurants are serving guests in The Arena, according to the Orlando Sentinel. These locations will only operate during sporting events. Smoked Brisket, Taco Cones, and the Feisty Chicken Sandwich are among the offerings. I’m a very big fan of Chef José Andrés and all of his restaurants, and I can’t be more excited about the opening of Jaleo at Disney Springs. But today, I’m so happy to announce that José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup will also be opening one of the first-ever brick-and-mortar location of Pepe by José Andrés, inspired by the popular Washington DC food truck of the same name. Pepe by José Andrés, located right next to Jaleo at Disney Springs, will feature an extensive menu of hot and cold Spanish-style sandwiches including bocatas and bikinis, showcasing the best of José’s native country Spain. Some of the delicious highlights include: Pollo Frito, made with breaded chicken breast, alioli, bravas sauce, piparra peppers, gem lettuce, and sherry dressing Serrano y Manchego, served on crispy Pan de Cristal with tomato fresco Bocata de Vegetales, made with roasted peppers, onion, green asparagus, spinach, and manchego cheese on Pan de Cristal In addition to the sandwiches, Pepe will serve salads, soups and sides along with Spanish sangria. The walls of Pepe are decorated with an elaborate mural by Marc Jesús, a famous Menorcan painter, featuring his ever-happy, blue-skinned female characters. When ThinkFoodGroup recently shared new concept art for Jaleo by Chef José Andrés coming to Disney Springs, it was also revealed that a Quick Service option would be serving Spanish street food-inspired sandwiches and salads on the main promenade of Disney Springs when it opens this winter. ©José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup And now ThinkFoodGroup has revealed that the grab-and-go location will be Pepe by José Andrés! This will be the first Pepe location outside of the Chef’s popular food truck. The Disney Springs location, however, will be located in a front corner of the Jaleo building. Shanghai Disneyland has announced an expansion to the Resort: construction on a “Zootopia”-themed land is set to begin later this year! This expansion (the second major expansion since the Resort opened in 2016) will become the park’s eighth themed land. It will also be the first “Zootopia”-themed land in a Disney park. Today, Shanghai Disney Resort announced that a “Zootopia”-themed land is coming to Shanghai Disneyland, marking the second major expansion since the resort opened in 2016. Based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit animated movie, this exciting development will be the park’s eighth themed land and the first-ever “Zootopia”-themed land at any Disney park. Guests will be invited to experience the mammalian metropolis of Zootopia “where anyone can be anything,” with a new major attraction that will seamlessly blend Disney storytelling and state-of-the-art technology to bring this fan-favorite movie and its characters to life – including Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Entertainment, merchandise, and food and beverage offerings will invite guests to fully immerse themselves in the Academy-Award-winning animated movie. Love is definitely in the air at the Disneyland Resort! Starting today through Feb. 18, come and celebrate love for Valentine’s month. Upon entering Disneyland park, you will find a new flower “portrait” greeting you, along with festive Valentine’s décor along Main Street, U.S.A. and a “sweethearts” photo moment in Town Square. In addition, you can also participate in Minnie’s Valentine’s Surprise, a special scavenger hunt experience in Disneyland park. This fun activity puts your investigative skills to the test. Minnie has hidden secret valentines for Mickey throughout the park, and it’s your job to find them! Once you have purchased a commemorative map and stickers at select merchandise locations, go searching for the hidden valentines. Upon completion, return your completed map to Disney Showcase to redeem a special Valentine’s surprise. For those who would like to share a special treat with your sweetheart, there are plenty of lovely bites to choose from. We finally found them! The DFB team has been on the lookout for the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars in our grocery stores at home ever since we found out about them. At last, we found our first box in a Tampa, FL-area Publix! Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home We were lucky enough to grab the second-to last box of Mickey Ice Cream Bars on the shelf for $7.99. Now the big question, are these as good at home as they are in the park? After celebrating the fact we finally found these, it was time to open the box and try these out! Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home These bars are noticeably smaller than the in-park version of the bars — which we were OK with since we are at home…and calories count at home, unlike on a Disney vacation! The in-park bars are 4 oz. each, with the at-home bars being 3 oz. each. Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home Nestle Mickey Ice Cream Bar in the parks Other than the size difference these bars look and taste the same to us. The chocolate coating is a nice, crunchy milk chocolate. The ice cream is creamy and vanilla-y. Together they make a sweet snack or end to a meal. These will be a really nice at-home indulgence and reminder of our trips to the parks. Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home The at-home version of the Mickey Ice Cream Bars are made with light ice cream, offering half the fat and third fewer calories than the in-park, full fat Mickey Ice Cream Bars. We didn’t notice a difference in taste between the low fat ice cream in the at-home version versus the all the calories and fat in-park version. Nutrition Facts Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home Nutrition Facts Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home We would really like to see these stick around longer than the “limited time” we’ll have to enjoy these. Disney’s Riviera Resort is now booking reservations for dates starting December 16, 2019! The design for this deluxe Disney Vacation Club Resort is “inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along the Mediterranean coastline.” ©Disney In addition to the availability of reservations, information on the dining options has also been revealed. Riviera Resort will feature a rooftop, signature dining restaurant called Topolino’s Terrace –– Flavors of the Riviera.
