A HUGE celebration is coming to Disney California Adventure. This park’s 25th anniversary will bring a ton of new and returning experiences we can’t wait to check out! Soarin’ Over California at Disney California Adventure But we might be most excited about a ride change that’s starting THIS WEEK! That’s right, Soarin’ Over California is returning to Disney California Adventure, and it all starts on February 6th. Disney’s Soarin’ Over California is returning to Disney California Adventure as part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration! This fan-favorite, opening day attraction will start on February 6th and run through July 1st, 2026. Set to a serene and dramatic musical score, take a virtual tour of the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite National Park, Palm Springs, downtown Los Angeles, and more in this iconic ride. Soarin’ Over California After that, though, a brand-new version of Soarin’ will make its way to the park! Soarin’ Across America will begin on February 2nd. Disney hasn’t shared many details about this iteration of the ride, but did say that the iconic Soarin’ scenery will showcase some of the country’s recognizable cityscapes and natural beauty. ©Disney Typically, during the Food & Wine Festival, Disney switches Soarin’ to the original version — Soarin’ Over California. That will still be the case this time around, since the 2026 Food & Wine Festival is set to take place from March 6th to April 27th. Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival These aren’t the only changes coming to California Adventure for the anniversary, though. If you felt a shift in the Force, you’re not imagining things. Some MASSIVE changes are hitting Disneyland at hyperspeed! Galaxy’s Edge Disney sent shockwaves throughout the galaxy when it announced that Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land is changing up its theming! Beginning April 29th, 2026, Galaxy’s Edge is getting a timeline reset to include more Star Wars eras — expanding the land’s offerings in a way we’ve never seen! There are a ton of new features and offerings coming to the land, so let’s get into the nitty-gritty. When the change officially happens on April 29th, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will usher in a “new point in the Star Wars saga like never before,” according to Disney. This timeline change will span Star Wars films and television across the decades to include characters and storylines from The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka. As such, guests will get to experience the Galactic Civil War, the New Republic, the Age of the Resistance, and the First Order all in one Disneyland day! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland As such, DARTH VADER IS FINALLY COMING TO BATUU FULLTIME!!! He’ll be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers as they hunt down the remaining Jedi and look to squash the rebellion. The Disney Visa meet-and-greet in Tomorrowland that was formerly home to Darth Vader will now be home to Kylo Ren. ©Disney Speaking of the rebellion, Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca will be found in the land, as well. You can spot Leia near the Millennium Falcon, recruiting travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe. Skywalker will roam the outpost in his quest for knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building, kyber crystals, and more, per Disney. Han will be found hanging out near his iconic Millennium Falcon, not too far from Oga’s Cantina. Luke Skywalker is coming back to Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Some newer characters that have already appeared in Batuu will be staying, like Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian, and Grogu! They can be found near the marketplace. The Mandalorian and Grogu R2-D2 has also become a popular droid in Batuu, and will continue rolling around near Droid Depot and the garage. Hey R2! Rey will be found around the Resistance Camp. Rey and Chewbacca We’re also super excited for some audio changes coming to Galaxy’s Edge! You’ll be able to hear John Williams’ beloved Star Wars scores — such as “Main Title” and “Force Theme” — when you enter the land. As you wander around, you’ll hear motifs from other classic tracks, including “Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” “The Emperor,” and more. These changes have been a long time comin’ and will bring the land to life in a way we’ve been dreaming of. ©Disney Over at Oga’s Cantina, “Cantina Band” will finally be played, evoking some old-school Galactic Civil War vibes. Oga’s Cantina Disneyland But that’s not all. The First Order Cargo shop will transform into Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage operation with artifacts from across the history of the galaxy. Here, you can find “relics” themed after both the Empire and Rebel Alliance from the Galactic Civil War. First Order Cargo Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will also get some adjustments, displaying a different array of one-of-a-kind items from its past. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Disneyland The Droid Depot is getting in on the fun, as an earlier generation of the Mubo family will now be operating this location, where you can find prototypes of the BB-style droids. Disney’s teased that you might even catch Luke Skywalker meeting with Savi in his search for information on lightsabers and the Force at Savi’s Workshop! Droid Depot in Disneyland Fortunately, the land really isn’t losing much. You can still enjoy the same rides and food that have become a staple of Galaxy’s Edge, and the projection show “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” is still offered. Additionally, “Fire of the Rising Moons” will also continue on select nights. Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga To coincide with this timeline blend in Galaxy’s Edge, a brand-new comic will be released on April 22nd titled Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — Echoes of the Empire — so keep an eye out and pick up a copy! Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge While all of these changes are exciting, we do have to note that they are ONLY slated for Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge currently, so Disney’s Hollywood Studios is still waiting for changes of its own…assuming the Florida park will follow suit. Galaxy’s Edge We’ll be bringing you a first look at these changes once April 29th rolls around, so be sure to check back here for an in-depth look at the new (and hopefully improved) Galaxy’s Edge. Animal Kingdom is the name on everybody’s lips today! DinoLand U.S.A. is closed, and the park has a new map to match the direction the park is headed in. It’s reopened! To help ease the burden created by the loss of Restaurantosaurus, Disney has revamped Harambe Market and its menu. The quick service, which was originally slated to reopen in March before it got a new February date, has reopened EVEN EARLIER than we thought! We’re bringing you along with us to check out the reopened spot, AND its new menu. Harambe Market is officially reopened! The quick service spot, located near Kilimanjaro Safaris, has soft opened, so we stopped by to check out the changes. The restaurant hasn’t changed from the looks of things, but the menu is what matters here. Look at the changes! This spot previously had rice bowls that we were big fans of, so we have high expectations here. The new menu has some of those classic theme park bites that used to be located at Restaurantosaurus in DinoLand before it closed. During our stop by, we tried several of the new items to see how they hold up compared to our previous snacks at this location. The full new menu! First, we tested out the classic Chicken Strips and fries for $10.99. These were the classic chicken strips you know and love! They were meaty and juicy, with that crispy breading on the outside. The fries were traditional skinny fries. Salt, enjoyable, and classic. The tenders! We did appreciate that there were lots of sauces to choose from, so you could dress it up however you want. Dip it! Next, we tried the Savanna Salad for $11.29. It’s made with Mixed Greens, Lentils, Carrots, Couscous, Kachumbari, Toasted Almonds, and Citrus-Harissa Dressing. This salad was interesting to say the least! The couscous mixed with the greens and almonds created a nice textural combination. The dressing reminded us of a thinner Thousand Island dressing, making a zany flavor. The Savannah Salad We do think that if you’re looking for a classic salad, this one might not be your favorite option. It’s unique but we didn’t think it was anything to write home about. Have a bite! For something sweet, we tried the Kubwa Cookie for $5.29. It’s topped with Chocolate Cream Cookies, Potato Chips, M&M’s, and Dulce de Leche! It sounds super interesting, but how does it taste? This was like something out of a kid’s dream! The Kubwa Cookie This cookie was pretty good! We loved the Dulce de Leche in the middle because it was smooth and silky, while not being too runny or messy. This was good, but if you’re looking for something to knock your socks off, we recommend heading to Zuri’s Sweets Shop just a few steps away. Look at that! Finally, to wash it all down, we grabbed the Watermelon Lemonade, which features Minute Maid Lemonade for $6.29. This was like if we dropped a Watermelon Jolly Rancher into a sweet lemonade and let them melt together. It’s super sweet, but we really enjoyed the refreshing flavor. We do think it was a bit small for the price. SO PINK! We were super excited to see this spot reopen early, especially because this means we won’t have to go even a day without a classic theme park meal in Animal Kingdom. While it might not be the most thrilling new menu, we can appreciate the need for a classic meal. The full spread! If you miss those classic bowls, you can head to Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery! They still have rice bowls featuring chicken, beef, and more. They also have that delicious Coconut-flavor iced coffee, which we highly recommend. A major shift is coming to Disney Springs, and it’s being led by one of Orlando’s most beloved local restaurants. Disney Springs! Gideon’s Bakehouse, famous for its half-pound cookies and gothic aesthetic, is opening an entirely new restaurant concept in Disney Springs, just a few doors down from its original Bakehouse location. Set to open mid-year, it is named Six Ravens. Instead of sweets, it will feature an all-new savory-focused menu, marking the first time Gideon’s has expanded beyond its signature bakehouse concept and signaling a larger trend reshaping Orlando’s restaurant scene. Gideon’s Is Stepping Outside the Bakehouse Since opening its Disney Springs location, Gideon’s Bakehouse has been known for its indulgent desserts and long lines. But according to the company, creating another small dessert shop didn’t feel like the right move. Instead, Gideon’s asked a bigger question: “What if we created something entirely different”? ©Six Ravens The answer is a new restaurant concept built around savory “coffyns” (hand pie sandwiches) and housemade yeast rolls filled with ingredients sourced to support local businesses. Even more notably, the menu will be developed in collaboration with Central Florida chefs, positioning the restaurant as both a creative expansion and a love letter to the local culinary community. ©Six Ravens Gideon’s owner, Steve Lewis, has openly shared that this project is deeply personal. He cited longtime Disney Springs neighbors, James and Julie Petrakis of The Polite Pig, recalling how they once quietly featured a Gideon’s cookie as a secret menu item. “It’s always been in the back of my head that I need to repay that favor,” Lewis said, and this new restaurant appears to be that repayment, scaled up for a much larger stage. A Reflection of Orlando’s Evolving Restaurant Trends Gideon’s expansion mirrors a broader trend happening across Orlando and especially at Disney Springs: successful chefs and restaurants diversifying into multiple concepts rather than just duplicating the same restaurant again and again. Today, customers crave novelty, storytelling, and purpose while also being loyal to local businesses. Instead of opening carbon-copy locations, chefs are creating different experiences that reflect multiple sides of their culinary identity. Orlando, which is fueled by tourism and a lively food scene, has become an ideal testing ground for this approach. Rather than launching another version of Gideon’s Bakehouse, the company is leveraging its diehard following to introduce something no one expected. Gideon’s Bakehouse Disney Springs as a Hub for Restaurant Empires This strategy is already well established among several Disney Springs chefs. Chef Art Smith, for example, operates multiple restaurants across the U.S., each with a unique focus, from Southern comfort food like what you can find at Disney Springs’ Homecomin’, to the casual Sunshine Diner found in Terminal C of MCO. These are all tied together by his personal culinary story. Chef Art Smith Similarly, Chef José Andrés, who owns Jaleo and Pepe at Disney Springs, is known for operating a wide range of restaurants with entirely different culinary missions, from Spanish tapas to humanitarian-focused dining concepts. His restaurants helped elevate Disney Springs from a shopping district into a sought-after dining hub that can compete with the Orlando food scene. Gideon’s is now entering this same arena and moving from a single-category standout to a multi-concept brand with deeper creative reach. Chef Jose Andres, Chef Georg Paulussen, Chef James Petrakis, Master Sommelier George Miliotes and Chef Art Smith Why This Move Could Change the Game for Orlando What makes Gideon’s expansion especially impactful is that it’s coming from a brand that didn’t need to change. The Bakehouse is already wildly successful. Choosing to branch into savory dining and to do so in collaboration with local chefs shows the strong connection between Disney Springs and Orlando restaurants. If successful, Gideon’s new restaurant could encourage other local favorites to experiment, collaborate, and grow beyond their original idea. This will grow recognition of other local chefs in Orlando among tourists just visiting Six Ravens. ©Six Ravens By diversifying beyond desserts, collaborating with local chefs, and embracing a multi-concept future, Gideon’s is helping redefine what restaurant success looks like in Disney Springs and the Orlando restaurant industry. Public health officials are warning of potential exposure to measles at Disneyland Resort, the Orange County Register has reported. Sleeping Beauty Castle Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and other Southern California locations have also seen potential exposure, which has been linked to an international traveler. An airplane passenger who was infected with measles passed through LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal on January 26th and traveled throughout Southern California. The passenger arrived on Viva Aerobus Flight 518, per the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. People who were in Terminal B between 10:45 PM on January 26th and 1 AM on January 27th may have been exposed. The traveler also visited “healthcare settings” in LA County and a Dunkin’ Donuts at 22020 Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills on January 30th between 3 PM and 4:45 PM. ©Jeremy Bezanger/Unsplash The Orange County Health Agency also reported that the same individual visited locations at Disneyland Resort while infectious on January 28th. Potential exposure windows include Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure from 12:30 PM until closing. Disneyland Passengers who were seated near the infected person on affected flights are being notified in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while healthcare facilities and Disneyland are contacting patients, staff, and employees who may have been exposed. This marks the second confirmed case of measles in LA County this year. The first was reported just one day before, involving a resident who recently traveled internationally. Pixar Pier Orange County health officials said that CDC data shows 588 confirmed measles cases reported nationwide this year as of January 30th, 2026. Officials said people exposed may develop symptoms between seven and 21 days after exposure, and urged residents to confirm their vaccination status. Dr. Anissa Davis, Orange County’s deputy health officer, said, “Measles doesn’t only affect people who travel internationally — everyone is at risk if they’re not protected. The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to get vaccinated before exposure occurs.” Disney California Adventure Anyone who has symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, or rash should stay home and contact a healthcare provider before seeking care, per officials. If you were at Disneyland or LAX during times of exposure, make sure you take note of any potential symptoms you may have and contact your doctor if anything pops up. Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland has been undergoing changes recently — but it looks like those changes might be coming to fruition soon. Oga’s Cantina This Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge bar is a popular spot — despite being a hive of scum and villainy — but it has been closed since January 20th, 2026, with no reopening date in sight. Disney didn’t share much about the closure, but now, it looks like Oga’s Cantina will be reopening soon. According to the Disneyland website, Oga’s Cantina will be reopening on March 14th at 10 AM. While Disney didn’t share what the closure was for, it has ended up being closed for longer than we originally thought it would be. When we first spotted the closure, the calendar showed the bar reopening just five days later, but then, hours weren’t showing on the calendar at all. ©Disney Though we don’t officially know what this closure was for, many have speculated that it could have something to do with the original trilogy storylines coming into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney did tease that a “Cantina Band” will be heard from within the bar, but whether there will be any actual, physical updates to the space remains to be seen. Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland It’s possible that the closure doesn’t have anything to do with the upcoming changes at Galaxy’s Edge at all, too. After all, Disney shared that these changes weren’t going to take place until April 29th, so this would certainly be early if so. Oga’s Cantina Disney has announced that on April 29th, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is changing in a MAJOR way, ushering in a “new point in the Star Wars saga like never before.” They’re rolling back the timeline several decades to include characters and storylines from The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka. Beginning April 29, 2026, visitors to Batuu may find Darth Vader, Imperial Stormtroopers, and other iconic Star Wars characters inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., as the land expands its timeline to include more Star Wars eras. Read more about the exciting updates coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland at DisneyParksBlog.com. (Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort) These updates will mean that we’ll get to experience the Galactic Civil War and New Republic, along with the Age of the Resistance and the First Order. As far as Oga’s Cantina goes, Disney shared that in the era of the Galactic Civil War, proprietor Oga Garra only recently opened this watering hole, which is already becoming a popular spot for intergalactic travelers. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge As of now, these changes are only slated for Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any updates at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well. Monsters, Inc. has been one of my favorite movies since I can remember, so when Disney World announced a whole land dedicated to the movie, I was in tears. We don’t have an opening date for the land yet, but given how it’s coming along, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an updated timeline soon! Are you excited for the land to open? Get the coffee ready and set those alarms, because you *may* need to start waking up bright and early at Walt Disney World once again soon. Cinderella Castle Disney is in the midst of a massive transformation with major, game-changing projects coming to the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom over the next several years. However, all of the new attractions and IP coming to the parks may lead t0 a return that some fans will likely dread: Virtual Queues. First introduced in the late 2010s, the virtual queue system was introduced as a way to manage crowds on high-demand new attractions. Instead of standing in line for hours, guests would snag a boarding pass through the My Disney Experience app at specific times (usually 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM) and be called back to ride at a designated time later in the day. In theory, the system helped control congestion and allowed Disney to test new crowd-management strategies. ©Disney High-profile attractions that featured virtual queues when they opened at Walt Disney World included Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and Rise of the Resistance. However, Disney World transitioned its final virtual queues to traditional queues in February of 2025, leaving no VQs currently operating at the resort. Cosmic Rewind loading area However, that may change with some of the blockbuster attractions coming as part of Disney World’s expansion. After all, the Magic Kingdom’s Piston Peak is going to include a technologically advanced off-road-inspired ride, while concept art of its neighbor Villains Land indicates a massive coaster will be one of that area’s attractions. Coming Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. Major rides that may feature virtual queues aren’t limited to Disney World’s original park, however. Hollywood Studios’ Monstropolis-inspired Monsters, Inc. land is going to be headlined by the LONG-awaited suspended “door” coaster inspired by the Pixar film’s climax… ©Disney … while Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom will be anchored by attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones, with the former being more likely to potentially feature a virtual queue. ©Disney While all of these rides are still years away, there is a ride opening in 2026 that *may* warrant the return of a virtual queue to Disney World: The new Muppet-infused Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. While this refurbished attraction wouldn’t demand a VQ for as long as, say, Cosmic Rewind did, initial demand may make one necessary. ©Disney With massive and in-demand expansions coming to Walt Disney World in the coming years, waking up at 7:00 AM for virtual queues may become the norm once again, at least for a while. If you can imagine this, here at Disney Food Blog, we’re pretty obsessed with Disney dining. We love our snacks and quick service meals, but sometimes the best magic comes up at a table service restaurant. For most table service restaurants, you’ll want to book an Advanced Dining Reservation (or ADR). Pluto! One of our incredible readers, The Park Hopper Society, noticed that there were changes to the allergy section when they were booking a dining reservation, and sure enough, it looks like the Disney World app and website made some changes! Typically, when you book dining, you’ll be able to put in dietary and accessibility requests. This gives the restaurant a heads up if you’re coming in with any allergies that they need to be aware of, and the accessibility portion allows hosts to book you a table that can meet your needs. While the accessibility request is still on the app, you’re no longer able to select dietary requests before you book, and instead, this message comes up: ©Disney “Guests must notify their server about any allergen-friendly requests. While we take steps to help mitigate cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any item is completely free of allergens. Our allergy-friendly recipes may use refined oils, such as soybean oil, and/or ingredients that are processed in facilities that also process allergens. It is ultimately our Guests’ discretion to make an informed choice based upon their individual dietary needs. For more information about allergy-friendly requests at Disney-owned and operated locations, please ask to speak with our special diets-trained personnel upon arrival at the location.” Vegan and Gluten-Free Platter at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Even when you selected allergies on the app, most servers would still ask and clarify any information needed for your meal. With this change, it’s even more important to speak with your server about your dietary needs. Allergy-Friendly Patriot’s Platter On most Disney World menus, which you can typically find online or in the app, there is a section dedicated to allergy-free options towards the bottom of the page. Those are meals they already have in place and the chefs are familiar with, and while you should clarify with your server as well, these dishes can give you an idea of where to start when booking your meal to make sure there are options available. Garden Grill plant-based spread Thank you to The Park Hopper Society for bringing this to our attention, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for all the latest information you ned when planning your Disney World vacation. 5 RESTAURANTS I REGRET IMPULSE BOOKING IN DISNEY WORLD Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! It’s the end of an era at Disney World, and we’re not crying — YOU’RE CRYING! Okay, we’re definitely crying, too, but we’re trying to stay strong. DinoLand U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom has officially closed for good, and Disney is now focusing its attention on the new Tropical Americas themed land that’s replacing it. New Animal Kingdom Map We’ve already seen changes at Animal Kingdom in the form of more construction bushes, removed signs, and even a new park map. But we also spotted changes at this popular Animal Kingdom meet and greet — let’s take a look! The Mickey and Minnie character meet and greet at Adventurer’s Outpost in Animal Kingdom has had an update! Don’t worry — you can still meet Mickey and Minnie in their safari outfits here, but in the background, you might notice something different. Mickey and Minnie at Adventurers Outpost with DinoLand in the background (before the change) The backdrop that used to show DinoLand U.S.A. in the background now shows the Casita from Encanto instead! In addition, it now says “Tropical Americas.” This is yet another change that means DinoLand is really gone, and while we’re incredibly sad about it, we are thrilled for what’s to come! You can now see the Casita in the background! The Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza, will be home to two signature attractions — an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride! A Carousel will also provide another ride option. The Casita that you can see in the meet and greet now will be part of the Encanto ride. The Encanto ride, which looks to be a boat ride, will begin just as Antonio has received his special gift and his room becomes a beautiful rainforest. You go explore with him, and according to Disney, “You never know what member of the family you might bump into…” Model of the Encanto ride An Indiana Jones ride is also coming to Pueblo Esperanza! And while some may be familiar with the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction in Disneyland, the Indiana Jones ride in Animal Kingdom will feature a brand-new story. The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones. The new land will feature classic Spanish-style architecture with a large hacienda that will also serve as one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World. The rich and lush color and biodiversity of the tropical rainforest will be on full display, and at the center of Pueblo Esperanza will be a large fountain where stories will be told by gathering villagers. Puebla Esperanza model We’ll be on the lookout for more changes as Disney ramps up construction of the Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom. We’re in the parks every day, so we expect to see lots in the coming weeks and months! In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and beyond. The theme parks segment of Walt Disney Co. recorded record quarterly revenue of $10 billion worldwide for the October-December period, the company announced Monday. It was a 6% increase over the previous year for Disney’s Experiences division, which also includes hotels, resorts and Disney Cruise Line. The company does not break down financial figures or attendance by location, but Hugh Johnston, chief financial officer, addressed Orlando performance in a conference call with analysts. “Walt Disney World had a very good quarter,” he said. Comparisons to 2024 are affected by Hurricane Milton, he said. The quarter “obviously benefited from the overlap of the hurricane,” Johnston said. “But in addition to that, saw strong attendance performance as well as strong pricing performance.” He said hotel bookings for WDW are up 5% for the coming year. CEO Bob Iger also noted a strong quarter for theatrical releases, including “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the live-action “Lilo and Stitch” and “Zootopia 2,” which earned $1.7 billion and became the highest-grossing animated film in history. Iger noted the ties between films and theme parks. “The Zootopia land in Shanghai is enormous in terms of both its size and its value,” he said. “The percentage of people that go to Shanghai Disneyland, just to go to Zootopia land is very, very high.” 'Zootopia: Better Together' was added to the lineup of DIsney's Animal Kingdom in November. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel) “Zootopia: Better Zoogether,” a 3-D show, debuted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the quarter. “We have expansion projects underway at every one of our theme parks, and next month, we’re excited to welcome guests to the new World of Frozen at the completely reimagined Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris,” Iger said. “This milestone marks the beginning of a bold new era for Disneyland Paris, nearly doubling the size of the second park.” Disney films set to be released this year include “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” “Toy Story 5,” a live-action version of “Moana” and “Avengers: Doomsday.” Overall revenue for the company in the quarter was $26 billion, an increase of 5% from a year earlier. The figures were released amid another round of anticipation regarding who will be Iger’s successor. This is the second time Iger has led the company, having retired in 2021 then returning in November 2022. Among the reported candidates is Josh D’Amaro, the current chairman of Disney Experiences and the former president of both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Iger did not mention timing of replacement in Monday’s call, but he did address succession. “When I came back three years ago, I had a tremendous amount that needed fixing. But anyone who runs a company also knows that it can’t just be about fixing it has to be about preparing a company for its future and really taking steps to create opportunities for growth,” Iger said. “So while I don’t want to really either get too nostalgic or spend too much time on possible transition — or the probable transition,” he laughed. “The good news is that the company is in much better shape today than it was three years ago because we have done a lot of fixing. But we’ve also put in place a number of opportunities, including the investment across our Experiences business to essentially expand in every location that we do business and on the high seas.” dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

We’re drying our eyes still, but the time has finally come, whether we wanted it to or not. No more DinoLand! Yesterday was the FINAL day to experience DinoLand U.S.A. as a whole in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and now, the walls are officially up all around the land. There will be no more walking past some of the construction walls to make your way to Restaurantosaurus or DINOSAUR — it’s all closed off now to make way for the new Tropical Americas expansion. But what does that REALLY look like? We’re here on day one of the closure to check it out! DINOSAUR was BUSY yesterday, and with the closure of this land, it means that a whole restaurant, a ride, and multiple meet and greets are now closed in the park. That’s not great in general, but it’s especially true since this park already has the least amount of rides out of all four parks. The line outside on DINOSAUR’s final day of operation When we walked up today, the entire area was now behind those infamous Disney World bushes. Disney bushes blocking DinoLand You can no longer use the walkway that led to DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus. Instead, you’re directed toward the Asia section of the park and the Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…And Beyond! attraction. New signage They’ve also taken down the wooden sign for DinoLand USA on the directional signs around the park, as well as replaced the directional stickers on the temporary walls that said that Restaurantosaurus was open. No more sign either Not only that, but Animal Kingdom has officially gotten rid of any mention of DinoLand on its park map. A new park map now shows an all-green area with “Future Home of Tropical Americas” in place of where DinoLand used to be. It’s officially the end of an era, people! Yep, it’s gone However, this doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do in Animal Kingdom — far from it, actually! Pandora remains one of the coolest spots to check out, not only because of the two attractions there, but because of the incredible design throughout the whole land. We also recommend fully exploring the trails around the Tree of Life, as well as the animal viewing pathways — Maharajah Jungle Trek and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. Don’t forget to hop on the Wildlife Express over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, too! Maharajah Jungle Trek Looking for more recent Animal Kingdom news? Check out our posts below! Early Entry — the 30-minute period each morning when guests of Disney resorts and other select hotels can access each of the theme parks prior to the general public — has been one of Disney World’s most popular perks for years, and 2026 is bringing some big changes! Early entry sign! From character appearances to reopening rides, crowd patterns during Early Entry are going to change several times this year, which may impact how YOU plan your morning at Walt Disney World. Characters! During the Cool Kids Summer promotion, which runs from May 26th to September 8th, hotel guests eligible for Early Entry will be able to meet a rotating cast of Disney characters at each park before they park opens to the general public. Meaning that, at least some guests who usually rush to rides will instead try to knock out character meet & greets in the early morning. Captain Hook Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Reopen 2026 will see two massive reopenings in the form of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Both of these attractions have undergone extensive refurbishments that will see new tracks and a Rainbow Caverns sequence added to the former, while a new opening sequence, ride vehicles, and blasters will be added to the latter. ©Disney Both rides are scheduled to return sometime in the spring or summer of 2026, and given the popularity of both — and especially the legendary status of Big Thunder — combined with Disney fans’ love of anything “new”, these rides will likely draw plenty of early morning guests, especially early on. ©Disney Dinosaur’s Extinction The February 2nd closure of DINOSAUR — the opening day Animal attraction shuttering to be transformed into an Indiana Jones attraction — will mark a massive change for Animal Kingdom. The closure will leave the park with only a handful of operating rides until Tropical Americas opens in the next few years, meaning that morning crowds will be even more likely to rush to Avatar: Flight of Passage and Kilimanjaro Safaris during early entry. DINOSAUR “For the First Time in Forever…” During the early months of 2026, EPCOT’s Frozen Ever After is undergoing a refurbishment to see the addition of new Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff animatronics. These new animatronics will be replacing the ones that have been present since the attraction opened, which used projection instead of traditional sculpting for the figures’ faces. While some liked this look, seeing it as true to the original animation, others felt the approach was very uncanny valley, giving them a “creepy” bulb-headed look. ©Disney Frozen Ever After Hong Kong Disneyland Frozen Ever After is already one of EPCOT’s busiest rides, and that’s sure to only go up — at least temporarily — once the new animatronics debut, as fans have been desperate for them for a while. Crowds Will Change After Aerosmith’s Final Encore… The original version of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is set to close permanently on March 2nd, and that’s gonna change crowd-flow patterns at Hollywood Studios for a few months. Now, it’s common for some guests to head into the park, swing the left off of Hollywood Boulevard, and walk down Sunset Boulevard to hit the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster and its neighbor, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, first thing in the morning. However, for the duration of the coaster’s closure, it’s probably unwise to head straight down Sunset Boulevard at rope drop as the only draw will be Tower of Terror. And while we still love the marvel of Disney Imagineering that is the tower, realistically, there are better early rope drop options like Rise of the Resistance to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, when considering how the park’s wait times usually shake out. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster area entrance on Sunset Boulevard However, things will likely change AGAIN a few months later. … Until the Muppets Arrive The new, Muppet-ized version of the coaster is set to debut in the summer and will surely bring with it a great demand. Therefore, it’s likely draw larger Early Entry crowds back down Sunset Boulevard… unless Disney implements a virtual queue system initially. ©Disney If you’re planning on taking advantage of Walt Disney World’s Early Entry offerings this year, be aware of these big changes! I am devastated to be the one to show you this, but DinoLand U.S.A. is off the map at Animal Kingdom. New Animal Kingdom Map Yep, after opening in 1998, DinoLand has become extinct, and even though we were among the final to ride DINOSAUR on closing day, we had to come back in the morning to witness the changes. Not only was all of DinoLand officially blocked off, but when we picked up a park map, we saw changes we’ve been dreading for months now. If you’re sensitive to Disney nostalgia and permanently closed attractions, look away now! Opening up the map, it looks like there’s a huge green space where our beloved DinoLand used to live. The overview No, really, y’all, it’s GONE! In its place, it says “Future home of Tropical Americas.” Don’t get us wrong, we’re pretty thrilled for the new land, but there’s nothing worse than losing a huge section of the park. DinoLand has been slowly closing for a while now, but the Dino Institute is officially disbanded. Yep, it’s gone What is this Tropical Americas we speak of? Meet Pueblo Esperanza, hopefully your newfound favorite land when it officially opens in 2027. It will include an Encanto-themed attraction where you get to go inside Casita, a carousel, and an Indiana Jones ride. ©Disney || Tropical Americas Land coming to Animal Kingdom This will be the old DINOSAUR attraction, which is turning into Indiana Jones. Over in Disneyland, they have an Indiana Jones attraction that uses the same technology (and if you’ve grown up riding one and then hopped on the other, you’d know how weird it feels), so the transformation made a lot of sense. ©Disney Even though it uses the same technology, it will be a new storyline than the Disneyland version. In the concept art, the jeeps look the same — minus the Dino Institute branding. In the Disneyland version, they have fake steering wheels in the driver’s seat, so I’m secretly hoping they add it here, too. Buckle up, folks. Disney has just dropped some major announcements you do not want to miss. Hi Mickey! On February 2nd, 2026, Disney released its earnings report and held its earnings call for the first quarter (Q1) of fiscal year 2026 (FY 2026). We’ve got all sorts of updates thanks to this new information — details about just how the Disney theme parks are doing financially, what’s going on with Disney+, and much more. Let’s dive into exactly what you need to know! 4 — ESPN Regarding the sports world, Disney shared a decrease in operating income due to the increase in programming and production costs. This was partially offset by the timing of the NBA and college sports rights costs under the new agreements, including the impact of fewer regular season NBA games. There was also a decrease in subscription and affiliate fees due to fewer subscribers, which was due to the Star India Transaction, which is partially offset by higher effective rates. Things have been busy in this segment, too. Disney previously launched its new ESPN direct-to-consumer service. We’ll be watching to see just how ESPN continues to change and evolve. ©Disney Overall, the earnings call and report give us some great insight into what’s going on within the Disney Company right now — What segments are doing well? What areas could need some improvement? What does the Company seem to be focused on? We’ve got some answers, but things continue to change as new movies are released, park attendance changes, etc. We are constantly on the hunt for the latest Disney updates, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter for all the newest info so you do NOT miss a thing! Walt Disney Imagineering just filed four new Notices of Commencement permits for Hollywood Studios. An NOC is a legal document where anyone starting construction, repairs, or improvements of a high budget has to tell their state government that they’re starting the project. Hollywood Studios is going to get a lot of upgrades this year! Tower of Terror Hollywood Studios is expanding with three new areas – Monsters, Inc land is taking over the former Muppets Courtyard, the Muppets are moving into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and the reimagined Animation Courtyard will open as Walt Disney Studios this summer. Here’s everything new with Hollywood Studios’ construction! The first permit is for signage in the Walt Disney Studios courtyard. Walt Disney Imagineering is installing signage in the area, and from what we can see in the concept art, we have some guesses as to what it’ll be. The signs on the Disney Jr. building are being reused, and there’s only one other sign Disney has shown us. This permit likely includes the Sorcerer Mickey hat sign on the Magic of Disney Animation building, which means the new area is shaping up nicely! ©Disney The next permit is also for signage, but this time for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is open until March 1st, which means construction on the re-themed ride will start almost immediately. If the concept art stays true to reality, we’ll get a repainted guitar marquee and a new Electric Mayhem poster outside the ride. There will likely be new signs inside and outside the ride as well, since the cost is high enough to need a permit. ©Disney The final two permits are also for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. They’re listed for electrical work, which can include audio, video, lighting, and show control systems. We know that they’re redoing the pre-show to feature our favorite Muppets like Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Scooter, so we’re crossing our fingers that all of our Muppet friends are included with the permit. ©Disney We’re so excited for all of the new additions to Hollywood Studios. It usually matches the park hours, which are 8 AM to 8 PM. It’s a spinning water ride where you raft through the jungle – and you’re lucky if you don’t get soaked! Kali River Rapids Both of Disney World’s water parks are currently closed until Wednesday, the 4th, due to the extreme cold.Blizzard Beach was already closed for refurbishment and is expected to open by this summer. Typhoon Lagoon is still operational, but has been shut down due to freezing temperatures this week. Typhoon Lagoon North and Central Florida are currently under an Extreme Cold Watch. Temperatures will drop to freezing tonight, which is incredibly rare for the Sunshine State. Walt Disney World is preparing for the cold weather by closing water rides and covering plant beds to prevent freezing.
