  1. Whether it’s the rowdy Lost Boys, a mischievous Tinker Bell, an unrelenting Captain Hook or the boyish Peter Pan himself, everyone can relate to one of the beloved characters from the 1953 animated film “Peter Pan. The Fantasyland fave, Peter Pan’s Flight, invites voyagers into cherished scenes from this imaginary place aboard a soaring pirate ship. Yes, you are flying to faraway places on a pirate ship, and I think it is breathtaking. The Galleon sails over a moonlit London, peeks into the nursery with Tink, reveals battles in Neverland and tomfoolery in the Pirate’s Cove. And the sweet song “You Can Fly” will leave you humming it all day long. Watch as these little ones create memories of their own on Peter Pan’s Flight at Magic Kingdom Park. View the full article
  2. If you missed out on the one-day-only 626 treats back on June 26, life’s about to become a Hawaiian roller coaster for you because Stitch is BACK! Stitch Cake Looks like the loveable alien didn’t make a great escape after all! We reported on the appearance of this chocolate dome cake — styled to look just like Stitch, of course — back on 6/26. (Click here to see our review — and how long the line was to capture him!) At the time, Stitch was described as a one-day-only offering to celebrate his other moniker, Experiment 626. Stitch Cake But today he’s been spotted once again in the Kona Island case at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! No word on how long he’ll be around (he’s mischievous, as you know!), but if you love a chocolate dome cake with playful alien details, you’ve gotta get over there to try it! What do you think of the Stitch Cake? Cute? Fun? Too blue for you? Let us know in the comments! Related posts: News and Review: Chocolate Mint Cupcake of the Month at Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge! 3. It’s awfully tropical in central Florida, and where there’s a sweaty head, there’s a Minnie headband to top it. And now there are tropical flower Minnie ears to match the tropical weather! Aulani Ears at Agrabah Bazaar These are the Aulani Ears, initially sold at the Disney resort located on the Island of O’ahu. The flowers resemble plumeria, and the three-dimensional look of them is soft and pretty — just like the plumeria flower itself! Aulani Ears at Agrabah Bazaar But this is Disney, so the center of each flower is a shiny yellow Mickey head! (Idly wondering if the plumeria at Aulani have been cross-bred for this trait…) Aulani Ears at Agrabah Bazaar You can add the Aulani Ears to your collection at Agrabah Bazaar in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (or at Tropical Hideaway at Disneyland Resort!) for $30. Aloha! Do you love these Aulani Ears? Let us know what you think of the design with a comment below! Related posts: The Five Best Table Service Salads at Walt Disney World (According To The Experts!) 4. Kona Island is the Polynesian Village Resort’s sushi bar — but colorful preparations of fish aren’t the only thing this spot purveys. Indeed, the Kona Island Sushi Bar is a coffee bar for most of the day, and what’s coffee without some sweet treats to go with? Kona Island We just shared Walt Disney World’s latest treatment of bacon with not one, not two, but three chocolate-covered bacon varieties. Read about the madness here. Candied Bacon And now we’ve got a look at the Polynesian’s version of an Italian Florentine. A classic Florentine is a relatively flat cookie comprised of a combination of nuts, dried fruits, and chocolate. Kona Island’s version… well, it’s more Mount Florentine than classic. Chocolate Florentine The Chocolate Florentine, as it’s called here, includes several varieties of nuts: sliced almonds, whole almonds, walnuts, and cinnamon-sugar (almond and/or pecan at Walt Disney World). We also spied a few different dried fruits, including cranberries, apricots, and cherries. Chocolate Florentine As is traditional, chocolate and sugar are used to fuse the ingredients together. And we gotta be honest: it’s good! Imagine if sweet trail mix melted into a clump and then miraculously came out in one compact, not melty mound. That’s this Chocolate Florentine. Chocolate Florentine In fact, we imagine this is tasty with a cup of coffee. But while it could be a great on-the-go bite to eat en route to the Monorail, that chocolate doesn’t stand a chance in the Florida heat, so gobble this up in the relaxing Poly lobby before you head out into the big, steamy World. What do you think? Would you like this treat? Fourth of July Cone A blue sugar cone is filled with a heaping serving of raspberry Dole Whip and decorated with red, white, and blue star-shaped sprinkles! Fourth of July Cone As far as we’re aware, this cone is only available today, but you may get lucky if you head in after July 4th. Pineapple Lanai has had the raspberry dole whip available off and on for the past several months. 7. Like Sam The Eagle would say, today is a salute to all nations, but mostly America, as we celebrate the Fourth of July. Uncle Slam And to celebrate with us, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has decided to pay homage to Uncle Sam with a frozen cocktail on this patriotic day! TODAY ONLY, you can get an Uncle Slam from the Polynesian’s Oasis and Barefoot Pool Bars. The Uncle Slam ($12.75) is an alcoholic beverage made with Bacardi Silver rum blended with cream of coconut, pineapple juice, and strawberry pureé all served with a floater of blue Curacao. Uncle Slam We thought that this was such a fun drink to sip on for this summer holiday!! The drink itself kind of reminded us of a Miami Vice and we enjoyed the flavors. Uncle Slam And I mean it’s a frozen red, white, and blue alcoholic beverage on the Fourth of July. Is there anything better?? Stay safe out there, my friends! 9. We’re bringing home the bacon thanks to Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World! Candied Bacon Oh yeah, my friends, the Polynesian now serves Chocolate Covered BACON. And THREE VARIETIES to boot! How do you CHOOSE: Dark Chocolate Chili-Bacon, Dark Chocolate Bacon, and Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Bacon are up for grabs! Candied Bacon All three pieces of bacon we tried were thicccc and we mean thicccc in the best way! The Dark Chocolate Bacon was the most simple flavor-wise since it’s…y’know… just dark chocolate and bacon. We still really enjoyed it though! Dark Chocolate Candied Bacon Now, the Dark Chocolate Chili-Bacon is seasoned with a little chili powder and some chili flakes. This is supposed to give the treat an extra kick, but we wish there would have been more. It was honestly kind of difficult to taste the chili flavor at all. Womp womp. But still…chocolate-covered candied bacon, sooo… . Dark Chocolate Chili-Bacon Now, onto our favorite of the three candied bacon flavors…the Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Bacon!! We LOVED this one because the crunch of the pecans took it to a whole other level. We loved the smooth chocolate, the pecans, and the salty bacon. The flavor combo just really worked!! Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Bacon You can find these at Kona Island at the Polynesian for $4 a piece (sadly there’s no DDP snack credit symbol by the sign)!! And man, do we recommend getting all three. They’re seriously just so GOOD! If you’re looking for more chocolate bacon options, be sure to check out Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar’s Temple of Bacon at Disney Springs!! Are these bacon you crazy?? Let us know in the comments below! 10. Happy Independence Day! This week, we’ve been telling you about all the Fourth of July treats around Walt Disney World, including the crazy sundae from Disney Springs and the birthday cake ice cream cookie sandwich from Magic Kingdom. Happy 4th of July From Magic Kingdom! Today, we tried the Fourth of July Cupcake from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Fourth of July Cupcake This patriotic treat is a yellow cupcake with lemon-blueberry filling and red, white, and blue buttercream stars. Fourth of July Cupcake We’ve eaten A. LOT. OF. CUPCAKES. today, and this was was kiiiiiiiind of the worst of the bunch, I hate to say. The cake was a bit dry and the icing was so sugary sweet (not in a good way). We did like the blueberry filling, but the cupcake as a whole was not our favorite. But hey — at least it looks like Captain America! Fourth of July Cupcakes If you want to try this cupcake, you can do grab it today for $5.99 at Captain Cook’s or Kona Island Coffee Bar at the Polynesian Village Resort. But if you want to try one we thoroughly enjoyed, check out the Apple Pie Cupcake from Roaring Fork at Wilderness Lodge. How is your family celebrating July 4th? Let us know in the comments! 11. Welcome to Epcot, where the future is now, and you can travel the world in about a one-mile-long stroll! We’re bringing you What’s New from the Park, including a brownie you’ve got to see to believe, construction progress that’s creeping along, and a view from the literal future! Welcome to Epcot! What’s New in Epcot Dining First things first, we reported recently that Electric Umbrella will be closing later this year. Click here to see all the details! Electric Umbrella Over at World Showcase’s Refreshment Outpost, the Frozen Coke machine is finally back in action after being down for months. Refreshment Outpost Menu And in case you’re looking for a secret menu item: we were able to order the Frozen Elephant, a mix of frozen Coke and Amarula Cream Liqueur. This used to be a staple on the menu here, so we’re happy to report it’s still available by request! (Note that your mileage might vary!) Refreshment Outpost Frozen Coke Refreshment Outpost Frozen Coke At the Joffrey’s stand near Disney Traders in World Showcase Plaza, we had a peek at (and a taste of) the available pastries. Joffrey’s Pastries We spotted the famous, gigantic Joffrey’s donut (see why we think this rocks here!) as well as a Chocolate Pecan Honey Bun that we also recently saw at Animal Kingdom. Joffrey’s Pastries Joffrey’s Pastries Joffrey’s Pastries Joffrey’s Pastries We saved the best for last, though. This Peanut Butter Brownie is the bomb.com! We reviewed it yesterday (click here — but wait until you’re not hungry because PB&C), and we’re still thinking about it today. Below you’ll see progress on the space restaurant. Can you tell what’s new? Space Restaurant Progress Now? No? Good, we can’t either. Just know that construction work continues on the exterior, and the restaurant opens later this year. Click here for the most recent update, including info on the chef tapped to head this immersive, outer space-inspired restaurant! Space Restaurant Progress Guardians of the Galaxy coaster construction progresses as well, with lots of exterior work still apparently underway. The reworked face of the former Universe of Energy building still appears far from completion. Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster Progress Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster Progress We spotted the Flavors from Fire food booth from the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival behind some construction fencing. Construction has been on-going in this area for a while, but this is the first time we’ve been able to see the food booth in place. Possibly it’s been there all along, as the walls previously were higher and blocking the view. We’ll expect to see a lot of action in the coming weeks as the Festival gears up to start on August 29. Be sure to check out the FULL LIST OF BOOTH MENUS and food photos here! Flavors from Fire Booth Visible In pseudo-Festival news, Taste Track, a snack kiosk near Test Track, had previously been on Festival food booth lists. But recently it hadn’t opened since the end of Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival, and it was removed from the list of booths for Food & Wine Festival. Now, the entire structure is gone. Taste Track is gone! For guests looking to enjoy a cronut, which were previously found at Taste Track, Electric Umbrella has one on the menu (although our recent one was dry), and the Joffrey’s stand near Disney Traders has one on the menu, too, from time to time! Croissant Donut at Electric Umbrella Takumi-Tei in the Japan Pavilion is a signature restaurant set to open this summer, and we spotted signs up yesterday. Click here to read about it! Takumi-Tei Signage Exterior work and landscaping is apparently complete or very nearly so. Movable hedges are in place to block the entrance and views of the restaurant. Takumi-Tei Construction Progress What we believe is the entrance has simple design details in keeping with the style of the pavilion, including lanterns and a gateo-style tile awning over a heavy wooden door. Takumi-Tei Construction Progress This is the view of the restaurant’s entrance from above. Pesky hedges, mostly, but it provides some scale for the space. Takumi-Tei Construction Progress Takumi-Tei Construction Progress Over in Canada, tan-covered scaffolding remains up. No official word on what’s going on, but we expect exterior maintenance. 13. Hello again from Fourth of July cupcake central! Mickey Firework Cupcake We’re back to review ANOTHER Fourth of July cupcake that EXPLODED into Walt Disney World today. We have eaten Fourth of July cupcakes from Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Wilderness Lodge. And now, we’re gonna review (probably the cutest and most delicious cupcake yet) from Contempo Cafe (natch). The Mickey’s Firecracker Cupcake ($5.49) is a red velvet cake with a mixed berry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Mickey Firework Cupcake This cupcake was not only the cutest by far IMO but it was also the tastiest. The cupcake was super moist and the filling (which was a few cherries) was sooo yummy. But, be warned because the shimmery metallic blue will likely stain your fingers! Mickey Firework Cupcake Seriously, we’re sad that this is only available today since it’s another Contempo Cafe knockout. 14. Oooooooh, y’all, we’ve got a new little sumthin’ sumthin’ you NEED TO SEE TODAY! Put down the fireworks and the burgers, my friends, because there’s a new redhead in Adventureland and she’s a beauty! Adventureland in Magic Kingdom OK, you already know we love Sunshine Tree Terrace for the ICONIC Citrus Swirl and the newly popular FOMOsa (stroll the Magic Kingdom with a champagne flute full of dole whip float? Don’t mind if I do.) But we MIGHT have found your new favorite at this little Adventureland kiosk! We’re proud to introduce you to…REDD’S REVENGE! Redd’s Revenge is HERE The brand new Redd’s Revenge float is inspired by the character Redd from the popular Adventureland attraction (remember all that crazy drama a while back — yeah, that’s her!). It consists of strawberry Dole Whip, strawberry Fanta, and a chocolate pirate’s hat! Redd’s Revenge Dole Whip Float at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom (For reference, here’s Redd herself in Disneyland…TWINS!) Redd Character in Disneyland So, how’s it taste? If you like artificial strawberry flavor, Redd’s Revenge is the treat for you! LOL! We enjoyed the strawberry Dole Whip, though we’re personally partial to lemon and lime flavors. We would’ve preferred just the soft-serve without the soda, but we LOVED the chocolate pirate’s hat. NOTE: If you want to cut down the strawberry flavor a bit, you can swirl the strawberry soft-serve with vanilla! Sunshine Tree Terrace Menu A Cast Member told us Redd’s Revenge was added to the menu two days ago, and they weren’t sure how long it will stick around. If you want to try Redd’s Revenge for yourself, head over to Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland! You can purchase the float for $6.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit (a fabulous value, I might add). Have you tried Redd’s Revenge yet? If you have, let us know your thoughts in the comments! Berry Shortcake The delicious shortcake features blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream, and is topped with patriotic sprinkles and an adorable chocolate Mickey coin! Berry Shortcake We loved this treat! The cake was soft, the blueberries were fresh, and we really enjoyed the whipped cream. We thought the price ($4.99) was very reasonable for what we got. Berry Shortcake As with other Disney Fourth of July treats, we don’t expect this one to stick around very long! 21. The Fourth of July is here and we’re celebrating our nation’s birthday with entertainment, scrumptious treats and patriotic pageantry at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Here’s a look at what’s going on today at Disney Parks, including LIVE coverage from Magic Kingdom Park: Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Park – “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” will offer booming fireworks orchestrated to patriotic melodies at Magic Kingdom Park on both July 3 and July 4 at 9:15 p.m. Fans who are not able to join in the Independence Day celebration at the park can view a special July 4 live stream of the dazzling fireworks display right here on the Disney Parks Blog. Here’s more entertainment planned at Magic Kingdom Park: A fuzzy cast of Muppets – Miss Piggy, Kermit, Fozzie Bear and friends will reenact famous moments in American history in a whimsical way during “The Muppets Present … Great Moments in History.” The live show is performed several times daily near the Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square. Guests can dance the night away with DJs spinning tunes at a Hoedown Throwdown in Frontierland and an out-of-this-world Galactic Gathering in Tomorrowland. Epcot – “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will end its nearly 20-year run on September 30, 2019. So this will be the last chance to experience the patriotic Fourth of July grand finale of this beloved nighttime spectacular. “The Heartbeat of Freedom” fireworks extravaganza will begin immediately following the 9 p.m. “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” display. Here’s more entertainment planned at Epcot: The Voices of Liberty will perform great American tunes during a Fourth of July concert on the America Gardens Theatre stage at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. on July 4. 23. There is a new poolside bar known as the Craftsman Bar & Grill at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Craftsman Bar We shared our first look at the new pool bar a few days ago. But, today we had the opportunity to check out the new Craftsman Bar location during a soft opening, and we couldn’t wait to share it with you! So, put your swim trunks on and let’s dive in together! Craftsman Bar Eats Atmosphere The Craftsman Bar was designed to incorporate a custom mural and natural boulder stonework, and trellis work for shade. Craftsman Bar There is an obvious nod to Craftsman-style architecture, as befits the Grand Californian Hotel. The area reminds us of the Geyser Point pool bar located at Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge, which we really love! Craftsman Bar The bar is filled with large wooden tables, and the padded chairs are nice and comfortable. Craftsman Bar Lots of Craftsman-style lanterns hang from the ceiling, which creates a lovely setting in the evening. There are multiple options when it comes to seating as the location has tables, bars, and couches. Craftsman Bar Lighting Craftsman Bar Each has a comfortable cushioned seat option. The area feels very nice and laid back. And it’s a nice place to kick back with a glorious view of the pool. Craftsman Bar Eats This menu includes Appetizers, Artisanal Pizzas, Kids’ Meals, and Desserts. Craftsman Bar Craftsman Bar Menu Let’s kick things off with a few appetizers. The Double-Baked Beef Nachos ($21) are a great size and would be a great meal option if you’re not too famished. These are made with tortilla chips, melted cheese, bacon lardons, black beans, scallions, silvered jalapeño pepper, cilantro, queso fresco, guacamole, and crema. There was nothing too spectacular about these. We just felt like they were standard nachos that you could get at most dining locations, though they’re lovely to look at. Double Baked Beef Nachos The Cali Sliders ($21) appetizer comes with three baby burgers. These are an American wagyu patty, tomato, spicy swiss cheese, artichoke aioli. Though these WERE super juicy and delicious and they had a good balance of flavors between the meat and spicy cheese sauce, we didn’t feel like they were worth the high price. Cali Sliders SO good…but maybe not worth the outlay of cash. You be the judge! Cali Sliders Main Lobster Quesadillas ($23) are flour tortillas with Monterey Jack cheese, bits of lobster, queso fresco, caramelized onions, with spicy mayo on top. These were such a great flavor combination and the lobster pieces were very fresh. We really liked this option best of the three appetizers we tried! We’re giving them a 12/10 AMAZING!! Maine Lobster Quesadilla Now it’s PIZZA TIME as we sink our teeth into some Artisanal Pizzas! The Charcuterie Pizza ($26) is topped with pepperoni, prosciutto, salami, sausage, arugula, tomatoes, and aged provolone. Honestly, this is a meat-lovers dream as it was seriously COVERED meat. Though we loved the pizza, we felt that $26 was a bit pricy for the portion size. Craftsman Bar Charcuterie Pizza We also tried the Classic Pepperoni Pizza ($25). It’s topped with pepperoni, Grana Padano (comparable to parmesan), and aged provolone. Though we enjoyed the pizza…it’s pretty basic. The sauce was super light, which we really enjoyed! Craftsman Bar Pepperoni Pizza Now let’s explore a few of the dessert options! Craftsman Bar Dessert Get your stretchy pants on as we dive into the Waffle-Churro Sundae ($12). This is made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, chantilly cream, and chocolate pearls. Sadly the churros were a bit hard and we weren’t too fond of the waffles. But, we did really enjoy the vanilla ice cream and the caramel sauce. But how could you not, right?? Churro and Waffle Sundae The Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie Fingers ($11) are served with strawberry marmalade and hazelnut dip. We LOVED the hazelnut sauce!! But…the cookie fingers were a little too sweet and HARD for our liking. Fun idea, but could have been more innovative I think. Chocolate Chip Cookie Fingers We also explored a few of the pool bar’s drink options. Craftsman Bar Drink Menu When looking at the menu, it seems like there are quite a few options unique to this location. Craftsman Bar Drink Menu There were a few that even had Craftsman as part of their name. Craftsman Drink Menu Craftsman Drink Menu We just had to try the Banana Daiquiri ($14). It’s made with Flor de Cana extra seco 4-year aged rum, Giffard banana Du Bresil liqueur, and lime juice. Craftsman Bar Banana Daiquiri and Passion Fruit Mojito Menu Sadly, we couldn’t taste too much banana and we weren’t super blown away when it came to flavor. Craftsman Bar Banana Daiquiri The Passion Fruit Mojito ($14.5) is made with flor de Cana extra seco 4 year aged rum, creme de fruits de la passion liqueur, passion fruit syrup, lime, juice, and club soda! We REALLY recommend this drink option as the flavors were super yummy and everything went together very well. Passion Fruit Mojito on left Overall We’ve been super excited for this new outdoor option to open, and we weren’t disappointed…well not TOO much anyway. This is a TOTAL nosh if you’re in the mood to kick back and relax with a good drink or light bite. The menu does have a great range of options and we really did enjoy most of what we ate. If you’re looking for a full-blown meal, though the portion sizes are decent, this is definitely more of a “lounge by the pool and share with your friends or family” kind of situation. The main drawback here were the desserts and the prices. Food quality for apps and pizzas was quite good, but those desserts could have been amazing and just…weren’t. Red, White, and Blue Sangria We’ve already tried the It’s a Party Sundae, an Apple Pie Cupcake, and many other fun treats!
