Counting down to Aug. 29 and the launch of the 24th Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, we have more exciting news about sips, bites and entertainment on tap for this longer-than-ever, 87-day event! Starting with sips, plan to check out the new Appleseed Orchard Marketplace which will offer a unique variety of craft brews, ciders, wines and lite bites. This new marketplace will be located next to Le Cellier Steakhouse in World Showcase. As we shared earlier, the “O Canada!” film will be refreshed with new footage and a projection-system upgrade for a visually-enhanced experience. While this behind-the-scenes work is in progress, the theater will transform to an all-new festival destination offering a cool respite. At the Appleseed Orchard Marketplace, you will be able to pair apple-inspired beers, ciders and cocktails like the Apple Blossom Sky while nibbling on Charcuterie and Cheese. Brews, ciders and wines will be offered individually or as flights. The kid-friendly Frozen Apple Pie drink will inspire a chill stroll to your next stop. More sweet and savory treats will debut at the brand-new The Alps Marketplace, where you can conjure a snow-capped setting while dipping into your dish of Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette, or Venison Stew with Crushed Potatoes paired with a refreshing Frozen Rosé. Also new this year, families can enjoy Emile’s Fromage Montage where they can sample a variety of delicious cheeses served in inventive ways. Purchase any five cheese dishes from the official Global Marketplaces listed in the Festival Passport and make sure to collect a stamp for each cheese dish purchased. Once you’ve collected all five stamps, bring the stamped Festival Passport to Shimmering Sips for a complimentary specialty cheesecake unique to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Tailgaters, take note! You can pair your football mania with festival fun, no grills or picnic baskets required. Bookings start today for the new Tailgate Tasting hosted by ESPN’s Monday Night Football, available select Sundays starting September 8 – November 17. The 45-minute program will pair gridiron grub with a beverage tasting inspired by the cities of pro teams playing each Monday night. Even better, you’ll learn how to prepare the dishes for your next tailgate party! We told you previously about the anticipated week-long expansion of the Disney du Jour Dance Party, with weekend Radio Disney artist appearances. Sundays through Thursdays, a DJ will lead the interactive fun. Fridays and Saturdays will feature performances by Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country artists and appearances from a few of your favorite Disney characters. Plan now to catch headliners Meg Donnelly (“With U,” Disney Channel’s Zombies) Aug. 30-31, Jenna Raine (“A Letter to Me”) Sept. 13-14, Sky Katz (“Like This,” Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home) Oct. 11-12 and JAGMAC (“Like a Band”) Oct. 18-19 – you’ll want to dance the night away with family and friends! And more NEW acts are joining the roster for the festival’s longest-ever Eat to the Beat Concert Series, returning this year from Aug. 29 – Nov. 19. Check out the full lineup here, and be sure to save the dates for returning guest favorite, 98° (“Give Me Just One Night”) Oct. 7-9, and newcomers BBMak (“Back Here”) on Nov. 15-16 and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (“Un Gran Dia en El Barrio”) Nov. 17-18. Seasons are always great inspiration in finding your #HappyPlace, and summer is no exception. A beach ball is one of the first things that comes to mind when I think of summer, and its colorful stripes helped inspire these looks at Walt Disney World Resort! While at Disney Springs, a visit to Disney Style is a must. The yellow tea cup on display is perfect for a fun photo, and this bright spirit jersey adds an extra pop of yellow! At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, a cocktail from Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is a refreshing way to cool down. And their red Tiki mug is a great complement to this classic Mickey t-shirt. These polka dot Minnie ears are an adorable accent to this blue outfit. The walls at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort need to be added to your next social media post. As many of you likely already know — especially if you’ve visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom — Disney is very committed to supporting wildlife conservation efforts. Special Edition Simba and Nala Plush And with the new version of The Lion King officially coming to theaters NEXT MONTH (I’m literally jumping with excitement), Disney is focusing their conservation efforts even more. Sadly, since the original version of The Lion King was released 25 years ago, Africa has lost half the population of its lions. This brings Africa’s number of lions to about 20,000. As part of the “Protect the Pride” campaign — which we chatted about a few weeks ago — Disney has teamed up with the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Lion Recovery Fund (LRF). With this campaign, Disney has already donated a whopping $1.5 million to save the lions. With the help of others, they hope to double that number and bring the total to $3 million. Ultimately, the goal is to double the lion population by 2050. Kilimanjaro Safaris So, how can you help? Well, Disney has shared that their conservation fund will donate $2 (up to $350,000) for every person who rides Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom during the opening week of The Lion King. So if you find yourself in Walt Disney World from July 19 – 25, 2019, make sure you hop on the Safari! Learn more about the “Protect the Pride” campaign here! Disney also shared this inspiring video, which literally gave me goosebumps. It will be such a joy to ride one of my favorite attractions while contributing to a wonderful cause! Last year, we announced plans to build another parking structure adjacent to Mickey & Friends. The new structure, called Pixar Pals, features familiar friends from Disney and Pixar films such as “Coco,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Inside Out.” Today, we’re excited to announce that Pixar Pals will be open for guest parking beginning June 30 – months ahead of schedule! Pixar Pals will add more than 5,000 parking spaces to the west side of the Disneyland Resort. With additional entry lanes and a new electronic inventory system, the new parking structure will expedite guest parking and reduce traffic around the resort. Additionally, we began installing the Magic Way Pedestrian Bridge, which is set to be completed by mid-September. This new bridge will connect visitors from Pixar Pals—over Magic Way—to the rest of the resort, allowing guests the option to stroll through the Downtown Disney District to the theme parks’ Main Entrance. By eliminating the foot traffic crossing the street at Disneyland Drive and Magic Way, the new bridge provides convenience, enhances safety, and improves traffic circulation. These parking and transportation enhancements—along with other existing parking options throughout the resort area—are designed to improve parking and traffic flow to continue to enhance the overall guest experience at the Disneyland Resort. Our latest Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise was a voyage for the ages, sailing from San Diego, Calif., to Vancouver, B.C., with stops in San Francisco, Calif., and Victoria, B.C. – and an envelope-pushing lineup of special entertainment – in between. With more than a little help from our friends at The Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, The Muppets Studio, Disney Music Group, ABC, Disney Theatrical Productions, The Walt Disney Family Museum and other creative collaborators, Disney Vacation Club proudly presented a special entertainment lineup unlike any other, elevating the already spectacular Disney Cruise Line experience with a dizzying array of unique shows created with Members in mind. Whether Members were rubbing elbows with legends or meeting a Muppet, peeking behind the scenes or seeing into the future, this Membership Magic event once again raised the bar for an enduring Disney Vacation Club tradition. As we continue developing a brand new lineup of special entertainment for our Oct. 5-12 Member Cruise sailing from New York City, we thought we’d take a moment to share this fun look back at some highlights from May. The video moves almost as quickly as our cruise seemed to end. Time flies when you’re sailing with Members. (And Muppets.) As a part of Membership Extras, an incidental benefit, these member benefits are subject to change, availability or termination and may require a fee. Membership Extras are available with eligible ownership interests. Visit http://disneyvacationclub.com/memextraspolicy for more information. View the full article

The Lion King “Protect the Pride” Campaign Gains Star Power
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Blogs
As we gear up for Disney’s release of “The Lion King” next month, we are excited to share that Disney’s Animal Kingdom will play an important part in supporting the conservation of lions and other wildlife across Africa to help the circle of life stay strong. It’s been 25 years since Disney released the original version of “The Lion King”; sadly, during that time Africa has lost half of its lions, and only about 20,000 remain. Earlier this month, Disney announced its commitment to help address the crisis facing lions and other wildlife across Africa by supporting the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Lion Recovery Fund (LRF). As part of The Lion King “Protect the Pride”campaign, Disney has already donated more than $1.5 million to WCN’s LRF and its partners and will make additional grants and invite fans to help double the donation for a total contribution of up to $3 million with the hopes of doubling the number of lions in the wild by 2050. Take a look at what “The Lion King” cast has to say about this effort. One way you can help protect the pride is to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida during opening week of “The Lion King” (July 19 -2 5, 2019) and ride Kilimanjaro Safaris. For every guest who rides the attraction that week, Disney Conversation Fund will donate $2 (up to $350,000) to the Wildlife Conservation Network in support of the Lion Recovery Fund. In addition, fans may participate by purchasing special-edition products as part of The Lion King “Protect the Pride” campaign. The Lion King “Protect the Pride” campaign continues Disney’s longstanding commitment to the conservation of wildlife around the world and represents the largest single gift (up to $3 million) Disney has made to help reverse the decline of a species. Since 1995, the Disney Conservation Fund has directed more than $75 million to save wildlife and protect the planet. View the full article -
