  1. We’re baaaaaack with another Halloween Time treat! Halloween Time As we’ve been reporting live from the parks, we’ve spotted a few new and returning treats like the Witch Minnie Shake! But, now we’re biting into the Haul-O-Ween Churro from Cozy Cone Motel! The Haul-O-Ween Churro ($5.99) is rolled in crumbled chocolate cream-filled cookies, green icing, gummy worms, and candies! Cozy Cone Halloween Time Offerings Honestly, the icing is a little messy and stained our teeth, so we ended up looking a bit like Oogie Boogie. Haul-O-Ween Churro But, the flavors were good and we loved the cream filling! It was both light and airy and added a good texture to the churro. We just wish that there would have been a bit more filling. Haul-o-Ween Churro But overall, we enjoyed this one more than we have enjoyed the Avengers churros we’ve seen around the parks in the past. Haul-O-Ween Churro And do you remember the Tire Pumpkin Straws that were available around Disneyland Resort last year? Well, they’re BACK!! Tire Pumpkin Straw And, just in case you’re looking for one but happen to be at Disney World, we have found them there too! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Tree of Life We didn’t find too many new items during our latest park visit, but we will tell you all about the things we did find, including a new Mary Poppins pin! 4. Five members of America’s armed forces and their families—representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard—were surprised on August 27 with a special preview visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge two days before it officially opened in gratitude and appreciation for their military service. Hosted personally by Disney Parks, Experience and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek, the five families had the opportunity to crew the most famous of all Star Wars starships while enjoying Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, assemble droids and lightsabers, shop the marketplace and wash the experience down with a cold blue milk. 5. As we celebrate Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort this year, our 999 happy haunts are screaming with glee. Want to know what they’re “dying” to see? Since the Haunted Mansion is celebrating its 50th anniversary, this year’s Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house in the Grand Hall is themed to resemble the deviously delicious attraction beginning Sept. 6, 2019 and through the holiday season! It’s no surprise that this monstrous dessert took 13 spooky days to bring to life. There are six talented culinary cast members from the Disneyland Resort Central Bakery team that have been working on this year’s creation, three of which have been part of this mesmerizing tradition since 2001. Now, at the 19th season of creating this delectable dessert, the creativity from these clever individuals keeps becoming more and more innovative every year! We caught up with Tim Wollweber, associate art director for Disney Parks, who designed this year’s house. He explained that this was a challenge on a whole different level. “We tried to keep it as faithful to the Haunted Mansion itself so guests could immediately get that it’s the mansion, and know that it’s a heartfelt ‘dead-ication’ to it,” said Wollweber. When it comes to the details of the structure, Wollweber said they designed all sorts of familiar intricate details that are a part of the attraction. “We have lantern bits in there, doors where they generally would be found, green iron work in there…we’ve never really done that before.” Jokingly, Wollweber jokingly wonders if the gingerbread ghosts were once “alive,” but once eaten, came back to life to haunt this gingerbread house. His favorite part about the experience? “More than any of the other designs we’ve done, this one is a great labor of love that pays tribute to what’s been around for half a century. This is our congratulations for haunting a place for 50 years and we are happy that people still love it.” Standing at nearly 10-feet tall, the Haunted Mansion replica itself steals the hearts of all who lay eyes to it with its intricate details and some familiar faces. There are 15 spirited Haunted Mansion residents made of gingerbread cookies ranging from 24 to 30 inches tall. Can you imagine all of the ingredients it takes to create this centerpiece? Here are this year’s concocted ingredients that make up this ghostly home: Over 30 pounds of gingerbread 120 pounds of frosting and icing 75 pounds of powdered sugar 140 pounds of fondant …and more! You can experience this freakishly fun gingerbread house and more during Halloween Time (and through the holidays) at the Disneyland Resort! 9. YAY! It’s officially Halloween Time in Disneyland Resort! And do you know what that means?? SNACKS and TREATS galore. Schmoozies! Today, we’re reporting LIVE from the parks as we check out all of the new treats. And now, it’s time to kick things off with two drinks that will be available at Schmoozies throughout the season. Schmoozies in Disney California Adventure is where you can find the Mummy Donut (one of our returning favs), the Minnie Witch Shake, and the Caramel Apple Smoothie. Schmoozies Halloween Time Menu While we’ve literally devoured the Mummy Donut before, we stopped by to try out the new Minnie Witch Shake and Caramel Apple Smoothie! Witch Minnie Shake and Caramel Apple Smoothie The Minnie Witch Shake ($7.49) is a mint chocolate chip shake with purple whipped cream and cookie ears. Witch Minnie Shake We loved the light flavor the mint brought to the shake. We thought it made it really refreshing and we really enjoyed it. Witch Minnie Shake With that being said, this thing is HUGE and can totally be shared. Unless you have a sweet tooth like we do, in which, it’s probably perfect for one! Witch Minnie Shake Now, the Caramel Apple Smoothie ($6.99) is made with apples, ice cream, caramel sauce, and a caramel apple lollipop. So, honestly, something was up with this thing because it wasn’t very good! Caramel Apple Smoothie We seriously think the ratios may have been off because this smoothie was SO TART!! We think that more caramel might have helped to balance it out. But really, this thing was just overwhelming and hard to drink. We did love the little caramel apple lollipop that comes with it, though! If you’re choosing between the two, we recommend the Minnie Witch Shake FOR SURE! The Halloween Time offerings will be available from September 6th – October 31st. Be on the lookout throughout the day for even more reviews!
