  2. The interstellar family comedy “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables” launches tonight on the Disney Channel and DisneyNOW app from 9-9:30 p.m. EDT/PDT. We recently caught up with the series stars, including actress and musician Kylie Cantrall. Kylie plays Gabby Duran, a courageous 13-year-old girl who inadvertently lands a job babysitting an unruly group of VIP extraterrestrial children who are hiding out on Earth disguised as everyday kids. Not disguised, but donning colorful Minnie Mouse ears for Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, Kylie shared that she was excited to celebrate the debut of the show with her co-stars at the Happiest Place on Earth – she couldn’t stop smiling when she met Chewbacca in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and she was excited to check out her favorite ride, the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure park. Let’s just say she has a natural inclination for the supernatural! Starring alongside Cantrall is Maxwell Acee Donovan (“Good Kids”) as Gabby’s bestie and conspiracy theorist, Wesley; Coco Christo (“We Take the Low Road”) as Gabby’s overachieving little sis, Olivia; Nathan Lovejoy (“The Code”) as the wacky Principal Swift; Valery Ortiz (“Switched at Birth”) as Gabby’s caring and career-driven mom, Dina; and Callan Farris (“Kings”) as Jeremy, a shape-shifting alien and Gabby’s first babysitting assignment. We’ve got a bunch to tell ya about, so let’s get started! Skyliner Update Hollywood Studios Skyliner Station Hollywood Studios Skyliner Station As we were passing by the Skyliner Station at the entrance of Hollywood Studios we noticed the area was still closed off to guests and there was a sign out front re-directing folks to use the Disney buses instead. Read more about the Disney Skyliner accident here! Construction Update Some mysterious construction is progressing in the area across from Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant and Baseline Tap. Commissary Lane Construction There’s been a lot of speculation about what this construction could be. We chatted with a friendly Cast Member who told us they could potentially be new restrooms! Boy, we sure hope that’s the case! Commissary Lane Construction Hey, even though PizzeRizzo’s restrooms are only steps away in the Muppets courtyard, we’ll take all the extra restrooms we can get! Merchandise Update Multiple Locations We spotted some Souvenir Pixar Straws at various quick-service counters throughout the park. 11. Walt Disney World Resort is the place where dreams of all shapes and sizes come true, especially for children and families visiting as part of inspiring wish trips fulfilled through wish-granting organizations like Make-A-Wish. When nine-year-old Grant first visited Walt Disney World, he fell in love with the colorful celebration that moves down Main Street, U.S.A—the Move it! Shake it! MousekeDance It! Street Party. The fun-filled dancing party stayed with Grant, who dreamt about the colors, the music and the characters, long after his trip. And there was one moment of the dance party in particular that Grant loved most: our pal, Woody. Grant recently returned to Walt Disney World as part of his Make-A-Wish trip, and we had the opportunity to make his dream of having a dance party with Woody come true. In a moment of pure joy, Grant danced the day away with Woody and the Move it! Shake it! MousekeDance it! Street Party team. His Mom, Dad and three sisters also got to join in on the fun—creating an unforgettable experience for the entire family. As Woody always does, he showed us that Grant’s got a friend in him. Check out the touching, feel-good moment below when Grant’s wish came true at Magic Kingdom Park: Grant’s wish is one of 8,000 wishes that cast members help bring to life each and every year at Walt Disney World Resort, building strength and inspiring children to believe in the impossible. Disney has partnered with Make-A-Wish since 1981, and throughout the years, more than 130,000 Disney-inspired wishes have been granted through the inspiring organization. We can’t wait to share even more special moments with you on the next #FeelGoodFriday. View the full article
  12. A new, out-of-this-galaxy “Stormtrooper Plane” celebrating the recent opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is ready to take to the skies! Disney and LATAM Airlines Group just unveiled the special edition Boeing 777 aircraft at a Star Wars-inspired event in São Paulo, Brazil. The “Stormtrooper Plane” was designed by Disney’s creative team along with Lucasfilm – and we knew Disney Parks Blog readers would want a closer look. To create the amazing art on the exterior of the aircraft, teams worked for more than 21 days and needed more than 2,500 liters of ink. The aircraft will fly from São Paulo to destinations including Orlando, Miami, Madrid, Frankfurt, Paris and London. And while in the air, passengers will be able to enjoy all 10 films of the Star Wars Collection on LATAM’s onboard entertainment platform, LATAM Play. During the unveiling of the “Stormtrooper Plane,” a group of customers at LATAM’s Line Maintenance Center in São Paulo/Guarulhos were surprised with an all-inclusive trip to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Walt Disney World Resort. And this weekend, the aircraft will be transporting passengers to adventures far, far away. 16. Since the reawakening of Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom earlier this year, I’ve been perfecting my drawing skills at The Animation Experience at Conservation Station. It has been fun learning how to sketch some of the most iconic characters from Disney’s “The Lion King,” and I’m excited to share that soon we’ll all be able to add to our collection. Right in time for the villainous season, we’re introducing characters who find themselves as the antagonist in highly popular Disney films. While Scar and Ed from Disney’s “The Lion King” will remain as one of the six characters in rotation, beginning Oct. 18, you can put pencil to paper and learn to draw from Disney•Pixar: Bruce from “Finding Nemo” and Hopper from “A Bug’s Life”; ShereKhan from “The Jungle Book” and Tic Toc from “Peter Pan.” FastPass+ continues to be available for the experience. It has remained closed since Saturday evening and Disney has released a statement about the incident, but there’s one thing we still just can’t get off our minds. Those emergency kits! A couple hours into the “situation,” guests reported hearing over the speakers in their gondolas that they could now open their emergency kits under their seats. Um…1) SRSLY there are EMERGENCY KITS?! then 2) GIMME!!! WHAT THE WHAT is in there?? Water? Blankets? Stale Mickey pretzels?? Our eyes were glued to Instagram waiting to see what the elusive kits contained! And the result?? Weeeeell…not exactly going to be saving lives with these kits! They contained a few packets of drinking water, cool packs, a pencil and notepad (that ironically was labeled “Universal”…oh Disney.), a whistle, a glow stick, and a few blue cups. (Yes.) Disney’s Skyliner There’s got to be a better way! No snacks? No way to keep warm? No toilet paper??!!! (For real guys…if nature calls, even stuck in mid-air…you’re not gonna want to be scrambling to find that old guide map in your pocket out of desperation!) This Doesn’t Count as Toilet Paper What would we have done better? Include a rope for lasso-ing the pizza from the delivery guy on the ground after we order some pies for the hungry gondola? A folding ladder so we could all, awkwardly, try descending to safety in the night? A parachute (do those even work that low?!)? We pulled together our ideas and came up with what WE would want to find in our kits if we were stuck in the Skyliner for 3 hours: The “OMG I’m stuck 60 Feet in the Air” De-Stress Kit We don’t know about you, but if we were cruising the skies to Epcot and suddenly found ourselves dangling for who-knows-how-long from an oversized telephone line with no help in sight, the anxiety is gonna get REAL up in that gondola! Disney Skyliner One complaint we saw from many guests stuck on the Skyliner was the LOUD recorded message apologizing for the delay playing every minute or so the entire. time. Nope. We’ve got a solution for that. iPod and Headphones with super-zen nature sounds: No more scary loudspeaker messages. Instead, sway in the air to the calming sounds of a babbling brook or ocean waves. Aaaaahhhhhh. Lavender-scented de-stress aromatherapy lotion: Align your chakras with calming scents. Earplugs to further find tranquility in the skies. A soothing eye mask provided by Disney to help the terrifying reality that you’re dangling in a giant Christmas ornament melt away! Yeah…we know. Dare to dream. The “I’m Stuck in a Box With My Kid(s) For How Long?!” Emergency Kit We can’t imagine being stuck dangling for 3 hours with a child on the Skyliner. Kids at Disney World are already easily overstimulated, overly tired, sugared-up, and just generally maxed out! If you’ve been anywhere with a kiddo in tow, you likely know all too well the shiver down your spine when you hear those 4 dreaded words: “I gotta go potty!” Sorry, You Won’t be Finding This in Your Skyliner Gondola So how would we suggest Disney help those frazzled parents? An emergency “In case of angry toddler, break glass” type option! Food (Duh. Kids are tiny always-hungry vacuums.) like Fruit Loops, granola bars, fruit roll-ups, or crackers. A board game option would be well received (nothing says “We’re gonna be ok on the Skyliner” like watching your 4-year-old stomp and shake the dangling gondola because they didn’t win at Candy Land!). Coloring Books and crayons are always a hit with the younger set, so long as the crayons weren’t subjected to that famous Florida heat and morphed into one melted mega-crayon. An emergency iPad with unlimited youTube access. Welcome to Ryan Toys Review. And headphones, obviously. Because you’re stressed out enough and you do NOT need to hear “Baby Shark” for the 100th time trapped in a tiny metal box! A blankey is in your kit to wrap up your kiddo and pray sleep comes quickly if all else fails! Maybe it’ll take the edge off? The Adult Coping Survival Kit If you’re more worried about the BIG kids in your gondola, or maybe you were just forced to make some new Disney BFFs in the Skyliner for 3 hours, you’ll want a proper way to cope. Emergency Disney issued OTC Painkillers for that tension headache you’ve surely developed by now. Booze. Obvi. Emergency vodka or wine for the over 21 crowd brings the party to the skyliner. DVD player complete with all 10 seasons of Friends or The West Wing. How thoughtful, Disney! Snacks! Each kit will come stocked with plenty of Arendelle Aqua Wintery Whoopie Pies for each guest! (Haha j/k — you though that was a real thing for a second, didn’t you!? Sorry, but there ARE about 2000 other Arendelle Aqua snacks still around the parks if you’re interested!) Ok, in all seriousness what happened on the Skyliner was horrible. We can’t imagine being stranded in the air for that long with no communication or end in sight. In all truthfulness, what was REALLY missing from the emergency kits? The Real, Legit, “Here’s What We Need In The Skyliner Emergency Kits, Disney” Emergency Kit Food and Water. There was no food in there! Slip a few granola bars or protein bars or dried fruit in the box, Disney! Portable fans. Thankfully the malfunction happened in the evening and it’s Fall, but could you imagine if it was mid-day in the dead of summer?! HOT and nasty in the Skyliner, guys. Cooling packs won’t get you that far. Small, battery-powered fans seem like a better solution. Batteries. See above. Small handwarmers for more chilly days. Each gondola DOES have a small heater, but handwarmers couldn’t hurt. Emergency blankets. You know those weirdly cool mylar blankets? They fold to practically nothing and seem like an easy add. Crank chargers and smartphone charging cords. A diaper and wipes for smaller kids in your group. The adults could certainly use the wipes as well, seeing as no one mentioned actual toilet paper in those kits! Plus, messes happen even in the skies, so having wet wipes on hand could save a lot of headaches. A better bathroom solution. This is certainly the dark side of the Skyliner no one wants to talk about. Those blue-lipped cups found in the kits are the same kind issued by Disney’s First Aid Centers if your tummy is in distress. They hold a lot of liquids quite well, but most people don’t want to consider using them when they plan that once in a lifetime Disney trip! Epcot’s International Gateway Skyliner Station Give us a second. I’m sure we’ll think of more. Also, please please don’t go stealing emergency kits now that we all know they’re there. You wouldn’t want to be stuck up there and find NOTHING under your seat in an emergency, so just be cool. Oh, and what’s in YOUR kit?? 22. Besides the 999 happy haunts that normally reside at Disneyland, we spotted a strange-looking new guy we’d never seen before! Halloween Time in Disneyland He’s not your traditional spooky dude (how do we describe this fella.. he’s WEIRD, but in, like, a cute sorta way?) Well, you’ll see what we mean… Behold! The Monster Halloween Cake!!! C’mon, whatta face! Wait… is that his face? Monster Cake Ok, maybe the Monster Halloween Cake is a bit perplexing, but it looks super fun and interesting! We found it at The Plaza Inn in Disneyland! Here’s lookin’ at you, cake! Monster Cake It features a chocolate cake with layers of multi-color white chocolate mousse and green buttercream, finished with royal icing eyes and sprinkles! As excited as we were to try this odd creature, we sadly weren’t really thrilled with the taste. The icing eyes that originally sold us on this thing tasted kinda bizarre — even for a monster cake! Monster Cake Don’t get us wrong. It’s still a good, high-quality piece of cake — it was nice and moist and the buttercream really stood out. It’s just that it wasn’t particularly unique. Maybe because we’ve seen many renditions, like the Main Street Electrical Cake, in the past. If you didn’t already completely gorge yourself on The Plaza Inn’s fried chicken (usually, we can’t even walk after eating there, but just sayin’) if your still somehow peckish, the Monster Halloween Cake would be a nice finish to the meal. Monster Halloween Cake The Monster Halloween Cake is $5.99 and will probably be packing its monster suitcase once Halloween is over, so head over to The Plaza Inn to grab it before it goes! 23. The Plaza de la Familia celebration is in full swing in Disney California Adventure! Plaza de la Familia Paradise Garden Grill has transformed its menu for the big fiesta and it’s currently featuring Mexican cuisine, like Tacos, Tamales, a Hibiscus-Flavored Jamaica Slush, and a souvenir cup with Mexican Hot Chocolate that is making us “un poco loco.” The Coco Jarrito de Dante ceramic souvenir mug features decals of Dia de los Muertos Miguel, the Coco logo, and Miguel’s Xolo Alebrije (spirit guide) Dante. This mug is very similar to last year’s but this year it has all-new decals! Coco Mug Guests will have the option to choose what drink they’d like with the mug. Coco Jarrito de Dante After selecting our drink of choice, Mexican Hot Chocolate, the Cast Member advised us that she would be serving the drink in a separate cup. Coco Jarrito de Dante When we were given the mug, it was packaged in a cardboard box filled with styrofoam and the mug itself was wrapped in plastic. After removing it, we came to realize that this ceramic mug is pretty heavy for its small size. It’s made well, and we thought the detailing was stunning. It almost looked hand-painted!! So, we’re really hoping those decals stay on there. Jarrito de Dante mug Now, time to chat about the Mexican Hot Chocolate! This is a cinnamon-spiced hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. Unfortunately, we weren’t too pleased with the hot cocoa. The cinnamon flavoring was very strong and the rest of the hot chocolate flavors were sorta bland. Mexican Hot Chocolate You can get the Coco Jarrito de Dante souvenir mug with Mexican Hot Chocolate or your beverage of choice for $13.99 before an Annual Passholder discount. Or you can snag the Mexican Hot Chocolate on its own for $3.19. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 24. Hey, friends! It’s a jungle out there with all the tasty new Halloween goodies that keep popping up at Disney World! Halloween Cupcake And we just set our sights on another one today that you’ll want to add to your spooky treat list! A new Halloween Cupcake has swooped into Restaurantosaurus at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Halloween Cupcake The Halloween Cupcake features a chocolate cake and is STUFFED with a rich, dark chocolate mousse! The cake was pure chocolate yumminess thanks to its great soft texture. And the mousse wasn’t too sweet, but it was very rich and tasty instead! Halloween Cupcake The Cast Member snagged ours from the back of the cooler, so it was nice and cold — which is our preferred cupcake temperature…but maybe that’s just us! It realllllly helped that ours still had a nice chill to it because otherwise, it would have toppled over in the Florida heat! Just look at HUGE pile of buttercream! Too much buttercream, perhaps? Um, no. You can never have too MUCH buttercream! Halloween Cupcake We had to gobble up our little chocolate bat friend because he too was quickly succumbing to the heat! And the spooky ghost sprinkles made this treat look AS GOOD as it TASTES! Halloween Cupcake Make sure you fly over to Restaurantosaurus to nab your Halloween Cupcake for $5.99 before it flies away! And while you’re there, check out some of the other great Halloween stuff we spotted at Animal Kingdom — including this Purple Cauldron Popcorn Bucket!!!
