There are some MAJOR changes coming to a Disney Cruise Line Terminal! ©Disney Cruise Line Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal 8 will be shut down for 5 months in 2020 to undergo an extensive renovation project, so get ready for some improvements to your experience as you embark! Cruise Terminal 8 will be shutting down from June 2020 to the end of October 2020 for work in preparation for the new ship, Disney Wish, coming in 2022. But no worries if you’re cruising out of Port Canaveral next year! The closure won’t affect any sailings as Cruise Terminal 10 will serve as a replacement. ©Disney Cruise Line The work on the Terminal will be pretty extensive. Usually, renovations are done on non-cruise days, but the size of the project means that the closure is a better move. The renovations will include “demolition, a new curtain wall, seating replacement, ticket counters removal, IT infrastructure replacement, the extension of the drop-off canopy, and the installation of some structural steel.” Disney Wonder This renovation will mean some great improvements to the terminal and help to make a trip on the sea with Disney even better (if that’s possible)! Things just got a little easier for pedestrians at the MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH! Magic Kingdom That’s because the updated walkway has just opened up connecting the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Contemporary Resort — and vice versa! We took a stroll along the path this morning to show you what the newly updated walkway looks like! This is still a work in progress, so a few of the Walk Around the World bricks are still lingering. Walkway to Disney’s Contemporary Resort As you exit the Magic Kingdom, you’ll see a large sign directing you to the walkway on your left that leads to Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Walkway to Disney’s Contemporary Resort Some additional signage was posted on the temporary construction walls along the walkway. The walkway is still in its early stages of development and will continue to evolve along with the rest of the Magic Kingdom’s entryway in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, but for now, it sure is convenient to have, (albeit unfinished!) As you can see here, the old walkway is hidden behind green construction walls. Walkway to Disney’s Contemporary Resort Check out the new Ferryboat Magic Kingdom entrance here! The updated walkway is made of freshly poured concrete and slinks under the monorail tracks… Walkway to Disney’s Contemporary Resort …then follows alongside the track until you reach the crosswalk. Temporary barricades and reflective white and yellow plastic slats create a dividing line between the new path and the resort bus stops. Walkway to Disney’s Contemporary Resort Check out the rennovated walkway for yourself if you need a break from the holiday crowds at the Magic Kingdom! You can hoof it on over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort to check out their awesome Gingerbread Castle display, as well as the Christmasy treats they sell at their snack stand! How do you feel about all the construction that is happening at Disney World right now? Is it a good or bad thing? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below! Epcot is transforming right before our very eyes! Spaceship Earth You got it, folks. Epcot is undergoing a MAJOR transformation over the next few years and the evidence is clear in the park. With construction, new shows coming soon, and more construction, it’s hard to keep up with all the changes. Well, one piece of the transformation is complete today and that’s the new Camera Center and Pin Traders merch shop! Camera Center and Pin Traders used to be two separate locations and a while back, both of the retail spots closed. Well, that was all in anticipation of a little makeover happening at Camera Center. Now, Pin Traders occupies the same space and the store is OPEN for business in the shadow of Spaceship Earth. Camera Center Pin Traders Since it’s pretty easy to snap a photo on your cell phone, the needs and wants of a Camera Center have evolved. Camera Center Pin Traders Now Camera Center pretty much consists of a Disney Photopass desk with two kiosks and info on the program. It’s the Camera Center of today! Camera Center Pin Traders On the other side of the store, Pin Traders is sittin’ pretty with those pin-lined walls that we love so much. Camera Center Pin Traders We even spotted some upcoming limited edition pins! This set commemorated the 20th Anniversary of Disney Pin Trading with a SUPER COOL set of pins. The green outer layer opens up to reveal some of our fave Disney characters. How can you not want to collect them all? Camera Center Pin Traders We also spotted these Epcot logo pins. We love the rainbow color scheme! Camera Center Pin Traders AND Camera Center is definitely your stop for 2020 merch. They have a whole wall of it! Camera Center Pin Traders You can take a look at some MORE 2020 merch here! Whether you’re shopping the Camera Center half or the Pin Traders half, you can pay at this sleek new check-out space. The holidays are definitely the most wonderful time of the year, and we’re excited to be celebrating once again with our friends at Wheel of Fortune! Starting tonight, and continuing through this week and next, it’s time for the show’s Secret Santa Weeks. And… for the first time, we’ve teamed up with “Wheel” to make the holidays pretty special for some lucky contestants… and home viewers! During the Secret Santa Weeks, whatever the contestants win… someone at home wins, too! And, that includes all kinds of Disney Vacations – to the Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, and Aulani! I took my friends, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto to join in the holiday fun. I’m happy to share a couple of cool photos. Now, some of you may have heard that “Wheel’s” host, Pat Sajak, had a bit of a health setback during the days we taped these episodes, but I’m happy to report he’s fully recovered and back to work. (If you happen to be at the Walt Disney World Resort next week, come celebrate the Holidays with Pat as he narrates the “Candlelight Processional” at Epcot on December 16, 17 and 18!) So, in a “Wheel of Fortune” first, you’ll see Vanna White step in to take over the hosting duties. (And, you just might see our friends Mickey and Minnie in a whole new light.) And, finally, the set for the show is full of hundreds of your favorite Disney toys, games, plush animals, as well as Disney Holiday décor. (It might help you make a few gift-giving decisions while you watch!) Expect great puzzles, highlights of amazing Disney vacations, spectacular décor, and so much more. (And I’m delighted to say that Goofy didn’t knock over a single thing!) Check your local listing for time and channel, beginning tonight. Buy a vowel! View the full article

Headed to the Most Magical Place On Earth in the next few days? Main Street U.S.A. If you are, you might be curious about what you WON’T be able to do at Disney this week. It’s Monday and that means it’s time to take a look at which Disney World attractions are closed this week in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom! Refurbishments in Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Railroad You still won’t see the Walt Disney World Railroad on its route around the Magic Kingdom as the train remains stationed at the Main Street Station for the time being. You can stop by for a cute photo op with one of the historic locomotives, but don’t expect a ride on this Disney World staple this week, The Walt Disney Railroad The Railroad closed a few months ago because of the TRON Lightcycle Run construction, which interferes with the track. We don’t have any word on when the return of the Railroad will be, but we do know that the TRON coaster is set to open ahead of the 50th Anniversary of Disney World in 2021. It sure would be nice to be able to hop on the train before that though! Click here to learn everything we know about TRON Lightcycle Run! Refurbishments in Epcot Impressions de France Over in Epcot, we won’t have to wait nearly as long for the reopening of this closed attraction. Impressions de France closed last month to make way for an ALL-NEW Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along attraction in the Palais du Cinema. Impressions de France The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will be opening on January 17th and will run in-rotation with Impressions de France, so we don’t have to say goodbye to the beautiful film. C’est magnifique! Heads up: the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will feature a twist on the classic tale! We got a sneak peek at the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along. Click here to see what we found out! Canada Circle-Vision Theater Just around the World Showcase, there’s another closure in Canada. The Canada Circle-Vision Theater is currently closed to prep for a brand new Circle-Vision 360° Film, Canada Far & Wide, which is coming as a replacement to O’ Canada! Canada Far and Wide Canada Far & Wide will also be opening on January 17th, so there’s not too long to wait before we can check out the new film. Curious about Canada Far & Wide? Click here! And that’s all the closures in Disney World this week! So far, there are no refurbishments reported in Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, which is a good thing with the opening of Rise of the Resistance. We’ll let you know if anything changes but for now, that’s all! Check out all the news you might have missed in Disney World last week! Click here! This year Disney World has been going through some serious “ch-ch-ch-changes”! Magic Kingdom As with every change, there have been some good, bad, and in between, and Disney fans will ALWAYS let you know what’s what! Today we’re looking at some of the recent changes in the DW that Disney Worlders have actually really LIKED! Water Bottle Refill Stations We don’t think we’re breaking any news here when we say Florida is HOT! To stay hydrated in the parks, it is all too easy to go a little crazy buying water bottles (which becomes expensive REAL fast). But now, Disney World has made it MUCH easier to bring a water bottle to the park that you can refill, providing multiple water bottle refill stations around the parks! Refillable Water Bottle Station Refillable bottle stations are designed to send a single stream of filtered water into your water bottle or cup without touching the bottle, making them the perfect way to fill up any container you bring into the parks with you. While currently there are only a handful of refillable bottle stations around the parks, we have seen them popping up in newer sections such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which gives us some hope that we will see more of this eco-friendly water option in the future! Click here for everything you need to know about the refillable water stations! Discounted Upgraded MagicBands for Resort Guests For Disney World Resort guests and Annual Passholders, this year brought with it the opportunity for a big MagicBand upgrade! MagicBands for Resort Guests While Disney Resort hotel guests and new and renewing Annual Passholders originally were only offered a small selection of solid colors for their complimentary MagicBand, they are now presented with the option to upgrade to a varying selection of printed MagicBands featuring characters, films, rides, and more! The pre-arrival purchase price is typically more than half off the retail price you would find in the parks, with prices varying by design and some limited edition designs cycling through periodically. This was one seriously welcome change, and has really helped to UP our MagicBand style game! Click here to read about the MagicBand Upgrades for resort guests! Removal of Leave a Legacy Monoliths It would be easier to list what’s NOT changing at Epcot in the coming years versus what IS changing! While there’s a wide spectrum of reactions to each of the changes coming, one change that has been widely welcomed has been the removal of the Leave a Legacy monoliths at the entrance of Epcot to make way for a new entrance! Leave a Legacy Monoliths Disney previously announced that the Leave A Legacy photos are being moved to a new setting outside the park’s gateway, and instead the space will make way for new pathways, green spaces and a newly reimagined fountain! The monoliths weren’t everyone’s favorite decor element in Epcot, and lush gardens and topiaries seem much more fitting for the space. We don’t think we’re alone in our excitement for the new entrance, which we think will be a very positive change to what guests initially see walking into Epcot! Read more about the Epcot entrance transformation here! Refillable Mug Upgrade While we wouldn’t blame you for filing this one under “too soon to tell”, we’re pretty excited to see the reaction to the new refillable mug upgrade being offered at Disney World! Skyliner Refillable Mug Instead of the typical plastic mug, Disney is offering a new refillable mug with a totally NEW design and material! The new Disney Skyliner Refillable Mug is sleek and made of insulated stainless steel! If that weren’t enough, the mug is also part of Disney World’s Refillable Mug Program, which is HUGE! For $10 bucks, guests with the Disney Dining Plan can choose to upgrade to these mugs rather than the standard plastic ones included in their plans. It is worth noting that the Skyliner Refillable Mug, at $29.99, does cost $10 more than the standard Plastic Refillable Mug, but know there are some who will see the change in material as worth the price bump! Read all about the refillable mug upgrade here! All in all, Disney World has been making some AWESOME changes lately, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Most Magical Place on Earth! Read about all the ways Magic Kingdom has been REALLY upping its game lately! What do you think of the recent changes to Disney World? Let us know in the comments below! If you missed it, you can still watch this weekend. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Disney Imagineering.
