  4. What would Belle and Beast do if they had the chance to visit Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground? This time of year, guests can enjoy holiday carriage rides through the resort’s property – which may be the perfect activity for this couple and Belle’s brave steed, Philippe. “The carriage rides at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground are beautiful and romantic,” artist Ashley Taylor said. “It’s easy to imagine Belle and Beast wanting to enjoy the outdoors with Philippe!” View the full article
  5. “Everybody wants to be a cat because a cat’s the only cat who knoooows where it’s at!” Le Petit Cafe Well, we would say that the Aristocats-inspired Le Petit Cafe is a very good contender for “where it’s at!” This brand new quick-service joint in the recently-opened Riviera Resort is the cutest spot designed after the popular french cafes of Paris. In the morning, the Cafe serves coffee and yummy pastries, but in the evening it transforms into a wine bar complete with hors d’oeuvres, and specialty cocktails! Check out our FULL PHOTO TOUR and coverage of Disney World’s NEW Riviera Resort HERE! Atmosphere When you’re indulging in the sip or eat of your choice from Le Petit Cafe’s evening offerings, you can either head out in the bright and tiled Le Petit Cafe space… Le Petit Cafe Seating …OR you can swing just next door to the Voyageurs’ Lounge, which is a cozy and refined lounge area that’s perfect for sipping on a latte or cocktail. Voyageurs Lounge We love the design of both of these spaces, but the vintage Disney aesthetic and homages to Walt are enough to pull us right on over to the Voyageurs’ Lounge while we review the yummy evening menu from Le Petit Cafe. Voyageurs’ Lounge Click here for a FULL PHOTO TOUR of Voyageurs’ Lounge! Eats So, what kind of offerings are we talkin’ here? Well, just peek inside the beautiful royal blue evening menu to take a look! Cocktail Menu You’ll have your choice of Specialty Cocktails, Distinctive Spirits, Beer, Hard Cider & Water, Wine, Specialty Coffee, and even Mocktails! Cocktail Menu There are also a handful of snacks to try alongside your beverage of choice. Lounge Menu We opted to try out the Aperol Spritz and the Euro Cosmopolitan as our drinks with the Artisanal Cheese Plate and Charcuterie to go alongside them. Voyageurs’ Lounge Food and Drinks The Aperol Spritz for $13 is a mix of Aperol, Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco Superiore (say that three times fast!) and Soda Water. Aperol Spritz This is a BIG drink. It comes in a large wine glass that’s practically filled to the brim! Luckily the majority of the drink is soda water — but that doesn’t mean that this guy isn’t seriously strong AND flavorful. We could definitely taste some rhubarb flavors from the Aperol as well! Aperol Spritz and Euro Cosmopolitan On the other hand, the Euro Cosmopolitan for $15 has some pretty different flavors. It’s a combination of Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, Cointreau, Cranberry, and Lime. Euro Cosmopolitan If you love a good Cosmo (we DEF do.) then this is an awesome cocktail choice! We were delighted when it showed up because of how pretty this drink is! It comes in a delicate and classy glass and the cranberry gives it a pretty light pink color. As for the taste? This cocktail is the perfect after-dinner sip with a super light flavor profile that isn’t too sweet or too bitter. Euro Cosmopolitan While we’re sippin’ on those, let’s take a look at the two sampling plates we nabbed! The Artisanal Cheese Plate was $11.99 and came as a pretty good portion of different cheese samplings. Artisanal Cheese Plate Ours came with brie, montegrappa, Roquefort (cheese of the kings in France)… Artisan Cheese Plate …almonds, olives… Artisanal Cheese Plate …honey, and almond cake. Honey For $13.99, we tried out the Charcuterie as well. And, you know how much we love a good Charcuterie! Charcuterie The plate came with four different types of meat, the same crackers as the cheese plate, olives, nuts… Charcuterie …copa, prosciutto, apricot, almonds… Charcuterie …and a duck rillettes! Duck Rillettes If you love charcuterie meats, this is definitely the plate for you! The different options were SUPER flavorful. The duck rillettes had a mix of capers and red onion that we couldn’t get enough of!! Honestly though, getting the cheese plate and the charcuterie together was a great idea because that meant we could mix and match our bites! Cheese and prosciutto? Yes, please! Oh, and did we mention these HIGH FASHUN gold utensils?!? Are you impressed? Golden Cutlery Want to see the full lounge menu at Le Petit Cafe? Click here! Overall Evenings at Le Petit Cafe are a super relaxing and classy experience. This is a great way to unwind from a long day in the parks or if you get a few moments away from the kiddos. Of course, kids will enjoy the Mediterranean Mint Lemonade mocktail too, so no harm in bringing them along! Both of the cocktails we tried were well-crafted and mixed and there was a good variety so you’re bound to find something that fits your taste! Le Petit Cafe Cast Members Now, that said, this isn’t a great choice if you have a lot of people in your group who don’t drink alcohol. The coffee options are always there, but this lounge is definitely more focused on the “bar” aspects of the menu. It’s priced similarly to other lounges around Disney World so the pricing is fair and the experience is definitely worth it. Now, we’re not sure that we’d necessarily take the trip over to Riviera JUST to revisit Le Petit Cafe in the evening, but we recommend checking it out at least once to see all the cool Disneyana and to try out one of the yummy European cocktails. Le Petit Cafe Seating Remember, Le Petit Cafe is one of FOUR new dining options at Riviera Resort and we’ve tried all of them! Check out our reviews of Primo Piatto, Topolino’s Terrace, and Bar Riva too! Click here to see EVERYTHING there is to see at Disney’s Riviera Resort! Which cocktail looks tastiest to you at Le Petit Cafe? Tell us in the comments! Related posts: FULL Photo Tour! Disney World’s New Riviera Resort Rooms, Restaurants, Pools, and MORE! Review! 6. Two things: 1) Did you know Disney World has a super fun and beloved Ice Cream and Soda Shoppe called Beaches and Cream that’s been closed for refurb since August and is OPENING BACK UP ON THURSDAY?; and 2) Did you know Disney World has a super fun and already-beloved new President who just subtly slid us a hint on a NEW SHAKE that may be debuting there?? Beaches and Cream Buckle up, friends — there’s too much good stuff to share! OK, so let’s start with Beaches and Cream! This wonderful little spot in Disney’s Beach Club Resort has been a guest favorite for what seems like millennia. First you had to time your visit perfectly to get one of the few tables inside; and then, when they started offering Advance Dining Reservations, you had to grab yours 180 days in advance to guarantee one! Beaches and Cream In August, this beloved ice cream and burger joint closed for refurbishment and cut into the side of the Arcade next door to expand! YAY! And now we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Beaches and Cream is reopening to the public on Thursday with more space, more tables, more menu items….just MORE! Beaches and Cream New Space! But yesterday, Disney World’s new President, Josh D’Amaro, visited the location to try out the eats…and sent us all a few mementos on his instagram account so we could see INSIDE for the first time! Beaches and Cream TEAM (c) Josh D’Amaro It’s SO nice to see so many tables and so much space in there! And of course, the famous Kitchen Sink Sundae is BACK! Beaches and Cream (c) Josh D’Amaro BUT…there’s something else that caught our eye in this photo… . Is that a Donut Shake I spy?? Beaches and Cream is well-known for the fun souvenir over-the-top shakes served in souvenir mason jars (these debuted in 2018). Delicious classic shakes are topped with yummy baked goods to make not only an awesome dessert, but also an instagrammable phenom. Beaches and Cream Shakes From time to time they introduce new seasonal options, and in this photo, there’s a NEW ONE! It looks like there’s a new DONUT SHAKE joining the three other classic options. Judging by the graham cracker crumbs around the top and the green hue, my guess is that this one is KEY LIME, but we’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out for sure! New Donut Shake (c) Josh D’Amaro Whatever it is, it looks adorable with that little Lifesaver/Beach Ball-themed donut on top! We can’t wait to try it! And we also can’t wait to go “HOME” to Beaches and Cream this week! We’ve missed our favorite servers and our favorite eats! Stay tuned! In the meantime, head over to Josh D’Amaro’s instagram account to see more fun photos from his visit there. He really is a wonderful addition to Disney World and we’re looking forward to the impact he’ll be making around the Orlando resort. Do you love Beaches and Cream? 7. We’re only a matter of DAYS away from Christmas, friends! We’ve met the sweet Merry Menagerie puppets on Discovery Island and spotted some of the beautiful animal themed decor already. Buuut, now our hearts are soaring with the new-to-us Merry Menagerie birds welcoming guests to the park! Merry Menagerie Birds While one of the birds is perched, ready to leap into flight… Merry Menagerie Birds …the other is flapping its wings and gliding around Animal Kingdom! Off He Goes! Doves at Christmas represent love, peace, and purity — and the stunning doves perched on top of Island Mercantile are giving us all the holiday feels. Merry Menagerie Doves Can you feel the love tonight just looking at the new Merry Menagerie birds?? Merry Menagerie Dove We seriously can’t get enough of Animal Kingdom’s beautiful holiday decorations this year!! 8. We’re spending a lot of time over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom because they are offering yummy new bites and we’ve got a ROARING appetite. Disney’s Animal Kingdom We’re reviewing ALL the new eats on this year’s Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler and we’re having a BLAST! You’ve joined us just in time for a brand new Ginger Slaw DAWG! OK, in case you’ve missed us talking about the tasting sampler, here are the details! Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler comes around a couple of times a year (usually when it’s BUSIEST in the park), and costs $50.00. This will get you two digital value cards: One $50 card that can be used at over 40 outdoor food and beverage locations throughout the park (NO expiration, though), and a bonus $10.00 that can be used at the following quick-service restaurants after 4:00 PM from December 22, 2019 through January 4, 2020: Restaurantosaurus, Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbecue, and Satu’li Canteen. Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler Now, you don’t HAVE to buy the tasting sampler to get the goodies — you can buy all of these a la carte as well! Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler This time we’re trekking to Caravan Road in Asia where they have two new offerings this year, including the Ginger Slaw Dog. Caravan Road Menu The Ginger Slaw Dog is priced at $6.29 or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. (That’s a GREAT value for the credit, financially; but the dog itself is…kind puny.) Ginger Slaw Dog A mini-sausage is topped with Pickled Ginger Slaw and tucked inside of a pillowy soft roll. Ginger Slaw Dog This was delicious! The sausage has a perfect texture while the slaw added the right level of crisp. Everything just worked in beautiful harmony! Ginger Slaw Dog So while the dish flavors worked well, we would probably recommend going with the Char Siu Pork if you’re only getting one thing at this location. Better value for your $$$. Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler Here we go to the The Smiling Crocodile where they will be serving up the Pulled Pork Street Taco that returns from last year as well as two new offerings, including the Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich and the Tamale with A Trio of Pepper Sauces. The Smiling Crocodile The Pork Tamale is priced at $6.29 or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. The Smiling Crocodile Menu It’s served with a Trio of Pepper Sauces that includes Tomatillo Sauce, Red Chile Sauce, and a Jalapeño Cream Sauce. Pork Tamale This baby is stuffed to the brim with delicious and tender pork. Pork Tamale Our favorite of the trio was definitely the Jalapeño Cream Sauce but it was fun getting to try all 3. Trio of Pepper Sauces This dish had a little spice but nothing to be FIVE-alarmed about. All in all, it was super flavorful and we’d certainly get it again. Still, there was more than just Disney spice here if you’re spice averse. Pork Tamale While this one wasn’t our favorite of the day, if you’ve gotta have a tamale during your Christmas season, here’s where to get one if you’re doing the holidays in Disney World! There’s tons of stuff this year — old favorites and new items, too! It’s important to note, though, that you do not have to purchase the Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler to get the special menu items. They are available everyday, to ALL guests! Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler We’re checking out Terra Treats where they are serving up quite the interesting item in addition to the returning Tomato and Cheese Pizza and a Chef’s Feature Pizza. Terra Treats Menu Behold, the Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcake. Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcake We’ve seen lots of spaghetti and meatball cupcakes in Disney World before — not least of which the guest favorite Spaghetti and Meatballs cupcake over at Mama Melrose’s! This MASTERPIECE is an Orange Cake with Cannoli Cream Filling (YUM!) that is topped with Buttercream Spaghetti and a Vanilla Cake Meatball with Fondant Sauce. Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcake Look at all this DELICIOUS cannoli cream filling! Cannoli Cream Filling The Orange Flavor on this one really POPS… and speaking of pops, the Meatball tastes just like a delicious cake pop! Now, I know what you’re asking: Um…guys…that looks a lot like a chocolate “meatball,” so why u sayin’ it’s vanilla? Well, believe it or not…it’s just HEAVILY food colored. PSA. Spaghetti and Meatballs Cupcake This one is absolutely delicious and super fun for the kiddos, but if food coloring ain’t yo jam…you’ve been warned! The Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcake is priced at $5.99 or as snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler is only available for purchase now through January 4, 2020. Caravan Road The Char Siu Pork with Sticky Rice is priced at $6.29 or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan (That’s a GREAT Value for this mini meal!). Char Siu Pork This was hands down our favorite of the day. Both the Texture and Flavor was SPOT ON. Char Siu Pork Look at all this beautifully tender pork with just the perfect amount of sauce! Char Siu Pork Fingers crossed it ends up a menu mainstay because we’d order this ANY day! If you’re in Animal Kingdom this week, be sure to pick it up! 12. Have you heard there’s basically a mini Food Festival happening over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Welcome to Animal Kingdom! If you’ve been following along, the Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler has returned for a third run this winter. Here’s the basics. The Tasting Sampler costs $50.00 and includes two digital value cards: One $50 card that can be used at over 40 outdoor food and beverage locations throughout the park (and does not expire), and a bonus $10.00 that can be used at the following quick-service restaurants after 4:00 PM from December 22, 2019 through January 4, 2020: Restaurantosaurus, Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbecue, and Satu’li Canteen. Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler We’re trekking to The Smiling Crocodile where they have two new offerings this year, including the Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich. WHAT!?! The Smiling Crocodile The Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich is priced at $6.99 or an excellent use of a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. The Smiling Crocodile Menu This slider is comprised of pulled pork that is then stuffed into a jelly doughnut along with some coleslaw! Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich The bun, in this case, is a delicious Jelly filled Donut and we’re NOT mad about it one bit! Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut The combination of sweet and savory really worked here! It first sounded a little weird but turned out being really enjoyable! The saucy pork mixed with the crunchy slaw and the sweet jelly was a hit for us! Plus, doughnuts…so yeah. Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich Ok, we need to go lay down after eating this thing. That was a LOT of yum, right there! Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler is only available for purchase now through January 4, 2020. But remember, anyone can get in on these tasty treats by visiting Animal Kingdom before January 4th! Do you plan on participating in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler? Let us know below! 13. We are just loving these cooler Central Florida temps that make for the perfect climate to nosh our way all around Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Welcome to Animal Kingdom In case you missed it, the Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler has returned for a third run this winter. Please note, you do not have to purchase the Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler to indulge in these special menu items. They’re available everyday, for ALL guests! Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler We’re headed to Terra Treats in Discovery Island where they are offering the Chef’s Feature Pizza in addition to the returning Tomato and Cheese Pizza. Terra Treats The Chef’s Feature Pizza is priced at $6.99 or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Chef’s Feature Pizza Don’t get saucy over here! This is a White Pizza that is topped with Chicken and Red Peppers. Chef’s Feature Pizza This stole a PIZZA our hearts and not in a good way! We had mega high hopes seeing this pizza. Doesn’t it look delish?!? BUT, it was SUPER greasy and between that and the overload of toppings, the crust just kinda gave up. The toppings alone were fine but nothing to really knock our socks off. Chef’s Feature Pizza This is fine if you’re in the mood for a heavy slice of pie LOADED with cheese and toppings, but it was a bit too greasy and hard to navigate for us. They did have parmesan cheese and ranch on hand to jazz it up a bit, if you’re so inclined! Pizza Add-ons! Anandapur Ice Cream Truck The Forbidden Mountain Cone is priced at $5.29 and features Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream with Snowflake Sprinkles. Forbidden Mountain Cone This is a sight to be seen! We love the pop of blue with the cone and sprinkles alongside the snowflakes. Forbidden Mountain Cone The Yeti even makes an appearance in the form of an edible chocolate piece. Yeti This is a fun one and an upgrade to your standard theme park cone! While the flavors aren’t groundbreaking (um…chocolate and vanilla?), the look is crisp and cool so it’ll make a great instagram post! ;-D Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler is available for purchase now through January 4, 2020! International Gateway Guest Relations Signs The door to the Guest Relations building is propped open as a friendly welcome to guests, inviting everyone inside (and out of the Florida heat!). 23. Hear ye! Hear ye! Let it be known that the Great Republic of the Disney Food Blog will be reviewing dinner henceforth at Liberty Tree Tavern! Liberty Tree Tavern That’s right, friends! With Christmastime in full swing at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, we were craving those comforting flavors of a traditional American-style feast that only Liberty Tree Tavern can satisfy! Join us at the table for our holiday all-you-can-eat meal — we saved you a place! Being long-time tavern devotees, we love returning to our Disney World home for the holidays, Liberty Tree Tavern, (oh, you thought those were restrooms upstairs? That’s actually our private living quarters!). But even though this long-time Magic Kingdom institution serves up a classic American bill of fare that is very reminiscent of the holidays, it’s actually the same food they serve here year-round! So if you ever find yourself hankering for a Thanksgiving dinner in oh, I don’t know, say…mid-July? Liberty Tree Tavern’s got you covered! Liberty Tree Tavern Atmosphere With so much construction happening throughout Disney World right now, it alleviates some of our adversity to change to see places like Liberty Tree Tavern that have remained relatively untouched throughout the years. Liberty Tree Tavern The decor is just as we remember it — colonial-style furnishings with little historical elements sprinkled throughout! But rather than feeling stuffy (like you’re eating in a museum or something!) Liberty Tree Tavern has a unique charm and coziness to it — the likes of which we’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in Disney World. Liberty Tree Tavern Having each room themed after a different American patriot makes almost every time you dine at Liberty Tree Tavern a unique experience. The restaurant itself is enormous while each of its six dining rooms feels small and intimate. Some of the various rooms even include hearths and fireplaces which majorly up the homey-ness factor for us! Liberty Tree Tavern We were even treated to some special holiday decorations during our recent visit, being ACTUAL Christmastime and all! Liberty Tree Tavern But now it’s time to get down to business! Let’s see if Liberty Tree Tavern’s dinner tastes as good as we remember! Eats Years ago, Liberty Tree Tavern began providing a list of a la carte options for their lunch service in addition to their prix fixe all-you-care-to-enjoy meal. But for dinner service, Liberty Tree Tavern only serves its traditional bill of fare. The cost is $39 for adults and $21 for kids ages 3-9. Included in the price, you’ll be given a salad, Patriot’s Platter (which we’ll get more into in a sec) and dessert. The meal is brought to your table and served family-style. Liberty Tree Tavern Menu The salad, a.k.a. Declaration Salad, is fresh and tasty, but by no means the star of this star-spangled meal. It’s a simple mix of greens, lightly dressed with vinaigrette and tossed with a few strands of red onion and some sliced cherry tomatoes. (On our visit, the Romaine was missing…because Romaine had been recalled yet again. Womp womp.) Definitely eat some, because you’re in Disney World and it’s highly possible that you haven’t had a green vegetable in a while, but don’t fill up! There’s more to come! Declaration Salad Let’s talk about that Patriot’s Platter we mentioned earlier. This parade of meats and sides is the true spectacle of American eats we came here for! First up, Roasted Turkey with Gravy and Seasonal Vegetables! Today’s offering was Green Beans, which we were really happy about! They tasted great with all that turkey doused in rich, creamy gravy! And did we mention you can eat as much of this stuff as you want? Finish a platter, and they’ll bring you another one! The fun doesn’t have to stop once you clean your plate — as long as you got room for more! Turkey with Gravy and Green Beans Next up, Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes! The roast is melt-in-your-mouth delicious; so juicy and tender, while the mashed spuds are the real deal! These mashed potatoes are buttery and super THICK! You can even see little bits of the potato skins mashed up in them! We usually ask for seconds (or thirds!) on just the mashed potatoes alone! Pot Roast And you can never have too much gravy. Luckily this pewter gravy boat is amply-proportioned and holds a ton of the good stuff! Even still, we usually have to ask for a gravy refill! Gravy for Patriot’s Platter The Oven-roasted Pork and Herb Stuffing are the next to arrive with a side of Cranberry Sauce. Just in case you’ve lost count, that’s THREE meats we’ve eaten during this ONE meal. And everything we’ve tasted so far has been super tasty! There are truly no duds in this feast! Liberty Tree We hope you saved A LOT of room for the next course — Macaroni and Cheese! We could eat bowls of just this stuff alone, it’s so cheesy and creamy! Plus the little elbow noodles hold onto all that rich cheese sauce making every bite wonderful! Mac and Cheese Here’s something cool you might not know about — if you’re traveling with kids who haven’t acquired the taste for traditional Americana flavors like pot roast or stuffing, you can always ask your server (nicely!) for Chicken Fingers and French Fries for no extra cost! It’s not guaranteed, but they may be able to help you out. That way, everyone walks away with a very happy, and VERY FULL tummy! Chicken Fingers and French Fries But we’re not walking away yet — not when dessert’s coming up NEXT! And Liberty Tree Tavern’s Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is THE STUFF OF LEGEND! We’re talking a big plate of vanilla toffee cake smothered in chocolate sauce, toffee crumbles, and vanilla ice cream. Behold! Liberty Tree Tavern’s Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! The cake is served warm so the ice cream and chocolate sauce get all melty while the little bits of toffee are SO buttery and delicious. While the feast as a whole is amazing, we have to force ourselves to remember to save room for this epic American marvel of a dessert! Make Your OWN Disney Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! Click Here For The Recipe! Overall For us? It’s still a winner. True — Liberty Tree Tavern isn’t serving “market-inspired cuisine” that you’ll get at Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s California Grill or even a fresh take on comfort food like you’ll find at Chef Art Smith’s homecomin’ in Disney Springs. But it’s a classic Disney restaurant with delicious comfort food and a fun AND EDUCATIONAL setting. It remains one of our favorites in Magic Kingdom. Whether it’s the holiday season or not, we’ve decided we’ll be keeping our tradition of dining at Liberty Tree Tavern! Thanks for joining us! Have you supped at Liberty Tree Tavern before? Give us your review in the comments below! 24. There are SO many exciting changes coming with the Epcot Transformation. Regal Eagle Sign While we’ll be able to dine in space (!!!) at Space 220, shrink to the size of a rat on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and step into the beloved fairytale with the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, we are also so close to the opening of Regal Eagle Smokehouse with the latest restaurant progress. While we’ve been anticipating Regal Eagle’s supposed December 2020 grand opening, we’ve been keeping you up to date on all the restaurant’s construction at the American Adventure Pavilion. And, although there are still a few things being worked on… Regal Eagle Construction …the outdoor seating area and patio have been opened up for guests to rest their feet (and grab a bite later)!
