  1. It’s no secret that we LOVE Disney eats, and we’re betting you do too. From the humble Mickey Ice Cream Bar to the finest dishes at Victoria & Albert’s, it’s hard to find a Disney food that doesn’t hold a special place in our hearts. (And when that happens, we’re sure to tell you about it.) ©Disney Have you ever wondered where these delicious and — in many cases — ICONIC foods come from? Believe it or not, many of our favorite Disney dishes actually originate in a SECRET LAB. Intrigued? Well buckle up, folks, we’re taking you on a trip to find out where Disney foods are invented — Disney’s FLAVOR LAB. What the what is Flavor Lab? Flavor Lab is a very real, very hush-hush space. You’ve probably never heard of it because Disney keeps it shrouded in mystery! Most Cast Members can’t even get into this hard-to-access workspace. ©Disney Flavor Lab is a research and development location devoted to creating the food of Disney parks and resorts. In an interview with Food & Wine, Lenny DeGeorge, executive chef of culinary concept development for Disney Parks & Resorts, likened the Flavor Lab team to the folks behind our favorite attractions: “We’re like Imagineering, but for food.” In other words, OUR HEROES. See what happened when we took a VIP food tour of Magic Kingdom. What do they do in the Flavor Lab? The Flavor Lab team’s job is to conceptualize, create, and execute new food items in all of the Disney resorts around the world. That’s a LOT of Disney eats. ©Disney They don’t JUST focus on the menu items, either. The Flavor Lab team also helps craft the stories behind Disney’s restaurants and plays a role in developing the physical restaurant spaces — zeroing in on details right down to the heights of the tables and chairs and the choice of overhead lighting. “We work the opposite of typical here, creating the guiding principle, the menu — then we design the restaurant, then we design the kitchen,” master pastry chef Stefan Riemer told Food & Wine. Batuu-Bon At any given time, Flavor Lab is working on around 100 different projects. For each new food item or dining concept, the design and creation process can take several months to several years. Some examples? Flavor Lab spent years developing the 50 potential combinations on the Satu’li Canteen menu. And when they worked on D-Luxe Burger for Disney Springs, they spent TWO WHOLE YEARS perfecting the French fries. Satu’li Bowl with Tofu One of the most recent and most exciting projects that Flavor Lab has been working on is the new EPCOT restaurant Space 220. To date, we know very little about the menu for the upcoming space-themed restaurant, but we’re betting it will be out of this world! Wondering about the opening of Space 220? Click here! What goes into developing Disney foods? If there’s one thing that Disney has on lock, it’s storytelling. Nearly everything Disney does is in the service of furthering a story — and they even do this through food. So of course, all of the food created in the Flavor Lab follows a story. Space 220 Concept Art ©Disney The Flavor Lab team also has to make sure that a dish can appeal to millions of different tastes so that it can satisfy the broadest range of guests and be served on a massive scale (more than 50 million guests visit Disney World every year!). Love a good story? Check out these STRANGE Disney Restaurants! Where is Flavor Lab? Another MYSTERY! Flavor Lab occupies a totally secret location. Reporter David Lansel from Food & Wine got the lucky chance to visit and it was quite the ordeal to get there. Walt Disney World Monorail Lansel explained that he was taken behind a gate that blocks off the service entrance to one of Disney World’s mid-priced resorts. They had to go through a guard checkpoint before driving WAY back into the HUGE support area for the hotel (Lansel called it a “mini-city”). Flavor Lab is tucked into this backstage area in an unassuming 7,500-square-foot building. Good luck finding it if you don’t know where it is already! Get your own peek at backstage Disney here! Why is it so secret? So why the need to keep this place so quiet? The team at Flavor Lab knows that there are consequences when things aren’t kept a secret. Salmon Flower Ikura A dish can undergo many different changes before it’s perfected, and a leak about a new dish can make the process more difficult and interrupt the workflow. Prior to opening Flavor Lab, this tended to be an issue. Scrump Dumplings in a Super Cute Stitch Cup at Tokyo Disneyland! Riemer talks about the frustrations that came with NOT having a secret facility. “We used to have a tiny facility that we shared with another team,” he explained. “We ended up dropping a lot of ideas because we’d see them on social media before they were even launched!” We’re on board with a top-secret location if it means we’re more likely to get to eventually TASTE Flavor Lab’s best creations! Click here to find out some of the BEST Flavor Lab creations of 2020! What’s in the Flavor Lab? Flavor Lab sounds like a mythical place where food dreams come true, doesn’t it? So, of course we’re wondering what it looks like inside. Let’s dig in. Satu’li Kids’ Menu Cheeseburger Pods The Flavor Lab is broken up into four sections — Eat, Create, Drink, and the kitchen. Eat is the flashiest part of the lab. It’s a super high-tech kitchen set-up that looks like it’s straight from a cooking show. This is the spot where chefs demo new items for the chefs who will actually be making them in the restaurant. It’s also hooked up with cameras and streaming equipment so that they can collaborate with Disney culinary staff around the world in real time. Create is a brainstorming space. There are tables set up and screens on the walls and it’s where the team goes to tell the stories of the next big foods in Disney World. Drink is the brainstorming and test space for beverages and place settings! ©Disney Of course, the best part of the facility is its kitchen where the Flavor Lab team gets cooking. Think of the best kitchen you’ve ever seen and amp it up — a lot. This space is SERIOUSLY state of the art and stocked with a revolving door of the latest and greatest culinary appliances. Want to observe a state of the art Disney kitchen? Click here! Who Gets to Work in the Flavor Lab? As you’ve probably gathered, the folks working in the Flavor Lab are the best of the best. Yet another fun fact about Flavor Lab is how they onboard new talent to the team. Chef cooking at Victoria and Albert’s Hiring new chefs is not a process Flavor Lab takes lightly. Chefs are put to the ultimate test before they get the green light. Finalists are brought into Flavor Lab to for an Iron Chef-style audition where they must cook a four-course meal in two hours and then be judged by a panel of executive chefs. Worried you’ll miss out on some of the best foods Disney has to offer? Click here! So there you have it — we’ve taken a few small steps towards demystifying Disney’s Flavor Lab. We’d certainly love to get a peek inside someday, but for now, we’ll settle for getting to eat the fruits of their labor. Curious about the BEST restaurants in Disney World? Click here! 2. The Disney World parks have reopened, but some changes are still being made. Walt Disney World Annual Passholder When the Disney parks closed, Annual Passholders were left in a bit of confusion. Some received extensions for the four-months of closures and some monthly Passholders were even erroneously charged their postponed payments all at once! Things seem to be more sorted out now, though. A few weeks ago, Passholders were given the option of adding an extra month to make up for the inconvenience of the Disney Park Pass system; now, that extension has started to arrive! When our team checked out the Tickets and Passes page of the My Disney Experience app today, those of us with Annual Passes noted an extension to our expiration dates! We had one pass extended one month from December to January 1st, 2021. Annual Pass Another received an extension from May to June 13th, 2021! One monthly Passholder on our team also received the one-month extension WITH the four-month closure extension that had yet to hit their account. Annual Pass So, if you’re waiting on an extension, check that account! It might have hit today. For all of the latest news about the reopening of Disney World, stay tuned to DFB as we cover it ALL! 3. Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom reopened to guests on July 11th, and in the days since, we’ve been paying visits to many of our favorite dining spots in the park. The Plaza Restaurant And when we’re talking about favorite restaurants in Magic Kingdom, that definitely includes The Plaza Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A.! This Table Service eatery serves up comfort dishes like Home-Style Meatloaf and Plaza Loaded Fries along with Ice Cream Sundaes and more… all while providing views of Cinderella Castle. When we arrived for lunch, we noticed a slight difference at The Plaza from other restaurants we’ve visited upon Walt Disney World’s reopening… Atmosphere For the most part, we’ve been able to check in for our Advance Dining Reservations a little bit early at Table Service restaurants around Walt Disney World. However, when we tried to do so at The Plaza (which offers the new Mobile Dine Check-In option), we were informed that it was necessary to wait until 15 minutes prior to the time we had booked. The Plaza Restaurant This is because, as it turns out, The Plaza has been very consistent with reservations so far! And since The Plaza is a smaller restaurant than most, they are finding it necessary to stick to the schedule as much as possible. The Plaza Restaurant In fact, we learned that the maximum amount of tables that can be seated inside at once is fifteen in keeping with new limited capacity measures for physical distancing between guests. The Plaza Restaurant Most of those tables that are seated, though, still boast a pretty spectacular sight from the spot’s many windows… The Plaza Restaurant … all to be enjoyed within a setting featuring an absolute abundance of turn-of-the-century charm. Lighting Fixtures The Plaza decor Typically, one truly memorable component of the atmosphere at The Plaza Restaurant is the chance that a citizen of Main Street may stop by during your meal. However, with distancing measures in place, visits from the citizens are not currently taking place. (You can find out, though, where you can spot Disney characters around Magic Kingdom and the other theme parks by clicking here.) Turning our attention back to our own table, we spotted a now-familiar sight at Table Service restaurants: a sheet with a QR code available to scan to access the Digital (Contactless) Menu. QR Code sheet on the table Now, let’s check out what’s ON IT! Eats As we dive into the menu, for those curious, the Plaza Loaded Fries are still on the Appetizer list! The Plaza Restaurant Menu The Plaza Restaurant Menu Hand-dipped Milk Shakes are still offered, too, though they are not currently serving the over-the-top varieties that received the spotlight here for some time. The Plaza Restaurant Menu For our first visit back, we wanted to enjoy a couple of truly classic dishes, so we chose the Plaza Club ($17.00) for our entrée. Plaza Club This is totally your traditional triple decker Club with smoked ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo layered with toasted bread. Plaza Club Plenty of French Fries are served along with this hearty Club which, as you can see, is positively packed! Plaza Club The flavors are simple, the fillings are fresh, and the portion is generous. (Plus… BACON!) It’s pretty hard to go wrong with the Plaza Club. As you may have noticed , we paired our Club with a glass of Sangria. Sangria The Plaza’s Sangria ($11.00) features Kunde Sauvignon Blanc with pineapple juice, spices and fruit for an altogether sweet and refreshing sip to enjoy while taking in views of the Castle. Sangria In keeping with theme of classic eats… can you GET any more classic than the Original Banana Split?! Original Banana Split This gorgeous (and mammoth) sundae is priced at $10.00. Original Banana Split Three scoops of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) are covered with hot fudge, strawberry sauce, crushed pineapple, chopped nuts, and a dollop of whipped cream for each scoop tucked in the dish with the fresh banana. Original Banana Split And even with all that… it wouldn’t be complete without a cherry on top! If you’re not quite ready to tackle the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream, this is still one massive treat that is big enough to share and — thanks to its traditional ice cream parlor flavors — pretty much everyone will enjoy. And that’s the sweet wrap-up for our latest visit to The Plaza Restaurant! Reservation Reminder A friendly reminder… in order to dine at any Table Service restaurant such as The Plaza in a Disney World theme park during this initial reopening phase, you will need three things: Valid park admission A required reservation for theme park entry An Advance Dining Reservation Just visit the links above for more info! Nosh or Not Plan for The Plaza if: You just can’t get enough of the turn-of-the-century charm of Main Street. U.S.A.! You love classic American comfort dishes (and DESSERTS!) when it comes to cuisine. Pass on The Plaza if: You prefer a more highly-themed setting when dining in Magic Kingdom (such as Be Our Guest Restaurant in Fantasyland). You’d like to select from a larger variety when it comes to cuisine (like you’ll find at the Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen in Adventureland). Overall It’s always a treat to dine at The Plaza Restaurant due to its consistently good food in an absolutely charming setting. Though it may not garner the same headlines as Be Our Guest Restaurant or other Magic Kingdom eateries, The Plaza is always on our list for a must-try dining experience at least once in the Magic Kingdom to get a true taste of Main Street, U.S.A.! Have you ever dined at The Plaza Restaurant? Please let us know with a comment! Related posts: DFB Review and Food Photos: Lunch at The Plaza in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom! 4. What’s the MOST anticipated restaurant opening in Disney World? We bet we know what you’re going to say. Space 220 Concept Art ©Disney Space 220 is the upcoming space-themed restaurant that should open in EPCOT…someday. Now, this restaurant has been a LONG time coming. Space 220 was announced way back in July of 2017. It was supposed to open this past Winter but apparently ran into a bit of a rocky patch. Even with EPCOT now reopened, Space 220 is still closed — so what gives?! What is Space 220? Let’s start with the basics. What exactly IS Space 220? This new restaurant is going to be located near Mission: SPACE in EPCOT’s Future World and will take guests on a dining adventure seemingly 220 miles above the park. Guests will take an “elevator” allllll the way up to space for their meal. There, they’ll look out HUGE windows into daytime and nighttime views of the vast expanse of planet Earth. Space 220 Restaurant Concept Art © Disney The menu has not been released yet, but we DO know that this spot will serve up internationally-inspired cuisine along with more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited to see what this menu will have to offer (we know there will be some awesome cocktails!). Space 220 Cocktails The space will feature a rotating wall of produce and will seat more than 350 guests. Space 220 will be run by Patina Restaurant Group, the same group that runs the Italy Pavilion restaurants and some locations in Downtown Disney and Disney Springs, like Morimoto Asia. Click here to learn more about the expected experience at Space 220! Space 220 was originally supposed to open last Winter, but it has experienced several delays. As we mentioned, Space 220 was originally supposed to open last Winter. For most of 2019, we were stuck with the exciting “Coming This Winter!” note on the official Space 220 page. Two seasons later in the Summer of 2020, with the official page now saying “Coming Soon!”, we’re starting to realize that maybe they missed their mark. Space 220 Construction Keep in mind, there were early signs of trouble. In November of 2019, the previously-announced executive chef of the location, Theo Schoenegger, stepped down and the search for a chef to head the restaurant had to be reignited. The listing for a new executive chef has since been removed from the Patina Group Restaurant help wanted section, so the restaurant may have found its new captain. Space 220 Restaraunt Art Print That month saw another shift as well, when the projected reopening was changed from Winter 2019 to February 2020 in Patina Group job listings. Sure, February is technically Winter, but it’s nearing the END of Winter. BUT, that timeline actually made sense — Space 220…2/20…February 20th. The correlation was not lost on us! Whether this shift was due solely to the executive chef shake-up or something else was unclear, but February came and went and still no opening or really even any outward signs of progress. To learn about the initial Space 220 delay, click here! Construction was halted during the lengthy closure. As we know, Space 220 did NOT open in February and March was not a particularly positive month for most Disney World construction projects, Space 220 included. The global health crisis had a radiating effect on the Walt Disney Company as a whole. With park closures and new financial limitations, the echos of the crisis were felt at Space 220. Space 220 Construction As the parks closed, construction was halted on all projects, including the new restaurant. Depending on how far along they were in the construction process, this delay could potentially continue even as the park has reopened and some construction has returned. Plus, to open, the restaurant will need to have staffing and supply chain sorted out. Want to know why we’re worried about Space 220? Click here! But the restaurant may be close to completion. Now, that’s not to say that Space 220 won’t EVER open. As far as we know, construction was pretty far along when the major construction delays kicked in in March. We checked in often and as far as we could tell exterior construction was more or less wrapped up. They had even decided on flatware for the dining room! Space 220 Flatware What we can gather from this is that Disney has already put a lot of money and months of time into this project. It’s not one that will be easily chopped if they need to cut some projects for financial reasons. Click here to see the latest construction update on Space 220! So, yes, Space 220 will probably open soon — we’re just not sure when. Plus, Space 220 could be a significant draw for EPCOT in the coming months. EPCOT is Disney World’s work-in-progress park. With low capacity and health concerns, Disney might favor projects completing that could keep the park profitable. Especially after recently putting a few big-name projects on hold! If the park needs an attendance push in the future, once it’s safe to begin incentivizing guests to return, Space 220 might do the trick. Space 220 Concept Art ©Disney Hopefully, we’ve run into every possible delay so far, but we should always be prepared for a new one. It IS 2020 after all. It makes sense that Disney hasn’t opted to give us an update for the past few months. Hopefully, they’ll update that opening season soon so we can start preparing for our first space meal! 6. It’s a strange new world we live in. With county mandates and even requirements within businesses (like Disney World!), we’re all adjusting to the new norm of keeping our mouths and noses covered in public. Cast Members Welcome Guests in Masks Well, we’ve done a little digging on how to make those masks more comfortable. But now, let’s take a look at these 10 face mask accessories you’ve GOT to have to make wearing masks even EASIER! 1. Mask Hooks There’s nothing quite as frustrating as a mask that isn’t quite the right size. When they’re too big, they won’t stay put; when they’re too small, your ears are going to be dealing with some major discomfort. Luckily, there’s a solution! Check out these Mask Hooks for $9.99 to help extend your face mask! ©HX AURIZE You can spot these hooks all over Amazon right now. Essentially they help to alleviate pressure on your ears AND they make it possible to adjust your mask to the most comfortable fit. That’s two birds with one stone! This could be a great solution for loose-fitting masks for kids too! Click here to buy some Mask Hooks! 2. Mask Cord Locks Speaking of mask fit, the Mask Hooks aren’t the only option. If you’ve got a mask that’s WAY too big, or you’re looking to fit one on a littler head (we know the challenges of keeping these things on kids!), then you might need to look into Mask Cord Locks. ©PLAZALA The pictured set is currently available with 100 pieces for $14.99, so you won’t have to worry about losing them! The locks make your masks totally adjustable and can be a great solution to a wonky fit. DFB TIP: FYI, they can be a little tricky to add to your mask. You can use a crochet hook or a bobby pin to help poke the mask loops through the cord locks! Anything that can help thread a needle can help thread a cord lock! Want to buy some Mask Cord Locks? Click here! 3. Nose Bridge Strips Perhaps you picked up a mask in a super cute pattern only to find it doesn’t have an adjustable nose piece. The adjustable nose can be super helpful for those with glasses (to keep them from fogging) and to make sure you have a more snug fit in general. ©Feeke We spotted a pack of 100 Nose Bridge Strips for $13.99. If you’re sewing-inclined, go ahead and sew one into your favorite mask. If not, you can attach using clips or a safe adhesive. To buy a pack of Nose Bridge Strips, click here! 4. Ear Protectors Some of us have more trouble with the sensation of the elastic on the backs of our ears than others. If this sounds like you, you might have a MUCH more comfortable day if you pick up some Ear Protectors for $9.99. ©COLORFEY These are basically little cushions that you slide your elastic loops through. They’ll help to eliminate any friction on the backs of your ears and keep your mask comfortably in place all day long. Click here to buy a few Ear Protectors! 5. Cute Mask Clips Of course, you can always avoid putting pressure on the ears altogether by making sure that your mask connects at the back of your head instead of gripping your ears. You can do this with the Mask Hooks from earlier or with one of these Cute Mask Clips! ©LuckyShe We love this cute heart design for $12.99; they have other designs like a smiley face and glittery patterns too! You might even find some on Etsy with little mouse heads! Talk about a fun hidden Mickey! Want to buy these CUTE Mask Clips? Click here! 6. Headband with Mask Buttons This next one might be the cutest face mask accessory we’ve ever seen — and the most practical! What’s even better than clipping a mask behind your head instead of behind your ears? Not having to rely on the elastics pulling on you at all! We didn’t think it was possible until we saw these ADORABLE Headbands with Mask Buttons. ©LAFUN Are you serious?! These are so smart! They’ll keep your mask on and your hair out of your eyes. That’s hard to beat! This design we spotted was only $7.99. This would be perfect for kiddos, too! To buy your own Headband with Mask Buttons, click here! 7. Anti-Fog Spray Now, some accessories are less about HOW you wear your mask and more about making the time that you’re wearing your mask more comfortable. Glasses-wearers (or sunglasses wearers!), this next one is for you! As you’ve probably learned by now, masks can make for some seriously foggy spectacles. ©Optix 55 So, pick up some Anti-Fog Spray for $20.55! This stuff can make a big difference and can help with sunglasses too! Click here to pick up some Anti-Fog Spray! 8. Pack of Lip Balm One big thing that we’ve learned from our face mask days so far is that long hours with a face covering can mean some chapped lips. No one wants those, especially not on your theme parks day! Make sure you bring along a pack of your fave lip balm to make sure you don’t end up super uncomfortable. ©Chapstick We love the Chapstick formula and you can get a pack of three for $2.94. Want to make sure you’ve got a pack of Lip Balm on you? Click here! 9. Face Mask Wash Bag The CDC recommends that you wash your face mask every day between uses. Of course, when you’re in Disney you’ll have a couple of options for doing this. You can wash them in the sink by hand at the end of the day, or you can swing by the laundry room at your resort. ©WANDM If you are going to wash them in a laundry machine, consider grabbing a Face Mask Wash Bag to keep them in good shape. We found this one for $3.99! To buy the Face Mask Wash Bag, click here! 10. Face Lotion And finally, a mask can definitely work towards drier skin on your face. You could always use regular lotion to help with this, but that stuff can be heavy and uncomfortable — especially in sweaty Florida. ©SheaMoisture Instead, opt for some specialty face lotion like this SheaMoisture Face Lotion for $7.64! Click here to buy some Face Lotion! Snagging some (or all!) of these face mask accessories could make the adjustment much easier! 15. The NBA is finishing up the season on Walt Disney World property. Grand Floridian NBA Blue Wall We’ve been keeping watch on the big blue wall at Disney’s Grand Floridian. The NBA set up camp behind the blue barrier to isolate players from the public. While isolated, the players got some pretty cool amenities like loads of video games and private pedicurists. We visited the wall a few times to try and catch a glimpse of the other side. Something definitely caught our eye today! Is that a barbershop we spy? Oh yes, folks! That’s the NBA’s personally branded barbershop peeking out above the wall. NBA Barbershop Just when we thought the NBA setup couldn’t get any more bougie! We heard about the barbershop in previous NBA updates. We had no idea it would be so swanky. We can’t wait to see all the fresh cuts the players get! NBA Barbershop Beyond the Big Blue Wall We’ll keep puttering around to see if we can peep a player shootin’ hoops or getting a pedicure! Wanna see out the NBA’s high-quality practice courts? 16. Summer is in full swing at Disney World right now! And while we’ve already spotted some HOT fashion trends at the parks recently (including this adorable Trash Can Shirt for guys and Jungle Cruise Dress for dolls), what’s there to EAT? Cinderella Castle We went searching for some summery foods today at Disney World, and we can’t wait to show you what we FOUND! And for $5.49, you’ll land all THREE of these beachy beauties! That’s normally how much just ONE cupcake will cost ya at Disney World! Summer Fun Cupcakes Granted they are all tad bit smaller than Disney World’s standard-sized cupcakes, but we think this plateful of cupcakes makes sharing even easier! We must’ve looked really HUNGRY when we bought our cupcakes to merit such a warning! Summer Fun Cupcakes The cupcakes are a super-rich chocolate cake with buttercream frosting topped with sugar shells, flip flops, and starfish. Satu’li Kids’ Menu Cheeseburger Pods Now, you can order the entire entree on the My Disney Experience app! 20. We’ve miss walking down Main Street and popping into our favorite Disneyland restaurants. Disneyland’s Carnation Cafe, a Main Street USA Landmark Since 1955 But, even though we’re not in the parks, we can still have one of the classic dishes from the iconic Carnation Café. Whether you’re a fan of dill pickles or bread and butter pickles, you can fry and serve up Disneyland’s Fried Pickle recipe along with a house-made zesty dipping sauce. But, be warned that these Fried Pickles are so good that you might want to make an extra batch just for yourself! Ingredients Zesty House Sauce: 1 1/2 teaspoons favorite Sriracha sauce 1/2 cup favorite ranch dressing 1 1/2 teaspoons lime juice 1/3 cup mayonnaise 1/8 teaspoon coarse salt 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper Fried Pickles: 2 cups canola oil 1/2 cup flour 3 large eggs 1 cup panko bread crumbs 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese 16-ounce jar of dill pickle spears, about 12 pickles (should be uniform in size; cut in half widthwise, if necessary) ©Disney Recipe For Zesty House Sauce: Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl, whisking well. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving. For Pickles: Using caution, pour oil into large skillet and heat to 365°F. Place flour in a shallow dish. Whisk eggs until smooth in a small mixing bowl. Transfer to another shallow dish. Mix panko and Parmesan cheese together in another shallow dish. Lightly dredge each pickle spear in flour. Add pickle to whisked eggs, tossing gently to coat. Add pickle to bread crumb mixture to coat. Place breaded pickles on tray and repeat steps until all pickles are breaded. Carefully place breaded pickles in a skillet and fry until golden brown, 4 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with zesty house sauce. ©Disney You can also follow along with a print-out recipe or a step-by-step video tutorial of the Fried Pickles to make a great appetizer before dinner or midday snack! 23. The “opening summer 2020” might have come down recently, but one thing’s for sure — while future plans for Spaceship Earth’s refurbishment and the new Mary Poppins attraction have been put on hold, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be opening someday — hopefully soon! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Sign In fact, we’ve watched the exterior for brand new attraction take shape at the World Showcase’s France pavilion from the aerial vantage point of Disney’s Skyliner for some time, but now we’ve found a special way to see what’s INSIDE! 24. During our trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we couldn’t help but notice that the Isle of Java was closed. Isle of Java Isle of Java, in case you’re not familiar, is one of the spots on Discovery Island where you can grab a pick-me-up cup of coffee or pastry. It also just so happens to be home to the Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist. If you’re hoping to grab a Tiger Tail on your next trip to Animal Kingdom, though, all hope is not lost… As it turns out, Isle of Java has just reduced its hours, so it’s not closed entirely. That said, the window of time is pretty limited, as the spot is currently open from 8AM – 11AM only. Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist Still, that’s pretty much the perfect time to start out your stroll with a coffee and a pastry (or even one of the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuits that you can grab in the mornings at various Counter Service locations around Animal Kingdom) as you wind your way around the park. Isle of Java Menu Additional spots for your cup o’ joe (or tea) in the park include Royal Anandapur Tea Company and Creature Comforts, the Animal Kingdom Starbucks location.
