This poncho — available on Amazon in multiple colors, including this striking hot pink — had several features that we simply adored. The material allowed the rain to slip right off, and between that and the lack of sleeves, we didn’t feel steamed or hot underneath. On top of that, the poncho was large enough that our backpack was able to fit underneath it comfortably, while still keeping the bag and our back completely covered from the rain. If all that wasn’t enough, the poncho even comes with a waterproof storage bag, meaning we were able to quickly pack it up and throw it in our backpack as soon as the storm ended without worrying about anything in there getting wet. Please, Disney! Stop with the closures! We can’t take any more! Mickey waffle with chicken? Yes, please! Well, we might just have to. One of the restaurants we really love to grab breakfast and lunch at is closing down awhile, and we’re pretty bummed. The Grand Floridian Cafe will temporarily close for a refresh from mid-July to October 2026. Brunch will continue to be offered, but it will temporarily move to Citricos, and guests may see or hear the refurbishment work during the daytime hours. Grand Floridian Cafe We’re not particularly surprised, as there have been many refurbishments at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and they will continue until early 2027. Recently, we saw the lobby undergo a major refurbishment, with new furniture and carpet… Grand Floridian Lobby …and add a new birdcage-themed bar, The Perch, which we totally love. The Perch The Grand Floridian Tea Room is also reopening soon, having been closed since the 2020 closures. It’s gotten a full refurbishment, including a brand-new menu, all themed around Alice in Wonderland. ©Disney 1900 Park Fare, a character buffet, reopened in 2024, but that was also after many years of closures starting in 2020. We’re glad to see the Grand Floridian getting all the love it needs right now! There might be no one who loves new eats more than us at Disney Food Blog, especially if they’re coming from one of our favorite restaurants. Tiffins We headed to Tiffins Restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to check out some new food that has just dropped, and we’re taking you along with us! First, we tried the Korean Barbecue Pork Belly Bao Buns for $16, and they come with pickled cucumber, green papaya slaw, and cilantro. Korean Barbacue Pork Belly Bao Buns All of the flavors combined were really good, but we found ourselves looking for more. We think this would have been a great chance to introduce more flavors since it didn’t necessarily pack a punch. The pork belly inside was juicy, with a few dry spots, and we wish there were more filling to enjoy, but we still think it was a nice, savory addition. The slaw was very crunchy and added nice texture, too. Inside Of course, we had Tiffins Signature Bread Service, which costs $20 (we love bread!). It has Pão de Queijo with guava sauce, onion kulcha naan with coriander chutney, and Thai curry milk bread with coconut-curry sauce. Three trays of bread! This would totally be a meal in itself! The first bread was a Brazilian cheese bread with the guava sauce, and we loved the two combined together. It was fresh and flavorful, and our favorite of the three. Brazillian Cheese Bread The next one was an onion kulcha naan with a coriander chutney. The onion flavor was pretty mellow, but the chutney had quite a bit of a kick to it. We’re not sure it exactly matched the naan, but it was herby, oily, and even a bit messy, and a solid choice of the three. Naan The final one had a strong hit of spice! Even our server warned us before we dove in, so we would save this one for last since the spice lingers. The bread was seasoned and soft, and the sauce was on the runnier side, but we’re always happy if we can find real spice at Disney World Cury milk bread We also had the African Pot de Crème for $13, which is a chocolate pot de crème, Ethiopian coffee, ras el hanout, pineapple, pistachio, and a chocolate cookie. Pot de Creme There were so many different elements on this plate that you’ll want to try to get them all in the same bite. The chocolate base was a bit thicker than pudding and was almost difficult to dig our spoon through it (but it was worth the effort!). There was a light cake on top that was almost like eating air, and the cookie had a tiramisu flavor with a crunch. The crumbles along the sides added some saltiness, too, which was a nice, different taste. Diving in We didn’t stop there and had to try the Caramel Flan for $14, which has cardamom-scented caramel and vanilla chantilly. Caramel Flan The flan had a really nice, bouncy texture with a gorgeous, oozy caramel sauce on top that wasn’t too runny or too sticky. The scoop of chantilly added to the flan softened the caramel flavor since caramel is the most forward taste. While it was good, we’re not sure it was a standout for us. We loved the caramel flavor Finally, we ended on the Seasonal Sorbet Trio for $11, which features their Tiffins signature sorbet trio and is also plant-based. The three flavors were Strawberry Pink Peppercorn, Blueberry Yuzu with Shisho Sugar, and Apricot Orange Pistachio. Seasonal Sorbet Trio The strawberry pink peppercorn one was SO fresh and packed with that fresh strawberry flavor. It was richer than most other strawberry flavors you can find in the grocery store and was smooth. The peppercorn didn’t really come out, but we think strawberry lovers are going to get a kick out of this one. Strawberry Pink Peppercorn The blueberry one was a bit more icy, like an acai bowl. The sugar on top added a grainy, crunchy texture, but not much extra sweetness. The main flavors were floral, and there was even a small flower on top. Blueberry Yuzu with Shisho Sugar For the final one, the apricot orange one, there was a slight nutty taste. It was very tart and not super apricot-forward; it was mostly fruit-flavored. It had a super smooth texture, with added pistachios for crunch, but the pistachios were toned down compared to others and were very balanced. Apricot Orange Pistachio We’re not sure we’re totally in love with these new changes, but Tiffins is still a great restaurant to make a reservation for on your Animal Kingdom day. We always find this sit-down spot, a nice and relaxing place to rest during a chaotic park day, and we always love it when we can do it with some good food. There’s a lot of talk about some big stuff coming for the Universal Orlando Resort’s theme parks, and Orlando in general! Universal Orlando There has been word about a transportation system project connecting Universal Orlando Resort’s theme parks, which could help mainly with getting to and from Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure to Universal’s Epic Universe. However, the proposed tunnel system doesn’t stop there, as there are talks to use it to transform how people navigate International Drive! For some time now, a proposed transportation system project to connect guests from Universal Orlando Resort’s main campus and its newest theme park, Epic Universe, which is roughly five miles away, has been in the works. According to the Orlando Business Journal, “as contract negotiations are underway with the district that oversees Universal and Elon Musk’s The Boring Co. to get the ball rolling on this project, bid documents from companies that did not get selected suggest what may come next.” Epic Universe With Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure being right beside each other, traveling a large distance between parks is not something Universal has had to deal with. You could either walk between parks or take the Hogwarts Express, until Epic opened. The Boring Co. would help bring this new project together. It’s an infrastructure and tunnel construction firm founded by Elon Musk in 2017. It is known for its tunnel projects, such as the Vegas Loop. Hogwarts Express With this new project being talked about, and the Boring Co. being selected as the preferred bidder on the project back in February by the Shingle Creek Transit & Utility Community Development District, “companies needed to show the district that future expansion opportunities were considered in the design of its system as a part of the bid process.” Boring Co.’s proposal stated the loop is designed with future expansion in mind. However, “it did not include a map on what this may look like for Orlando, according to the records released by district officials.” ©The Boring Company That being said, it was stated by the Orlando Business Journal, “the unselected bid from Sunshine Connection Partners offers a glimpse of what future expansion could include. The group consisted of autonomous vehicle transit company Glydways and other firms providing services such as construction.” A map was included that showed future expansion of the proposed system, and it could include stops at four unnamed points along I-Drive and at: Rosen Centre Hotel Hilton Orlando Hyatt Regency Orange County Convention Center’s North-South Building Orange County Convention Center’s West-Building ©Orlando Business Journal “Expanding the system along I-Drive would multiply origin stations for the proposed system and generate ancillary revenue opportunities for trips originating or ending outside the Universal properties,” Sunshine Connection Partners’ pitch stated. The president and CEO of The International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce, Maria Triscari, said she hasn’t been involved in any ongoing discussions between the district and Boring. She also stated she hasn’t been made aware if the two parties plan to expand the planned transportation system along the tourism corridor. ©Expedia The system is planned in three phases, with a potential fourth phase adding a stop along Destination Parkway, which has been listed in documents as a “future connection.” This separate transportation project would involve passenger trains connecting International Drive and the Orlando International Airport. Orlando Business Journal added, “It is currently in the planned development and environmental review phase, which will finalize the rail route. This part is expected to be completed by May 2027.” Orlando International Airport The potential phase four is the only stop the district has confirmed to be beyond Universal Orlando Resort. It’ll be interesting to see how this project develops going forward, and what this means for transportation at Universal and in Orlando. During a shareholders meeting on March 18th, 2026, Disney gave us an update on disability policies across Disney Parks. Rider Switch sign at Space Mountain In recent years, there have been many changes to accessibility in the parks, including restructuring the Disability Access Pass, which sparked considerable controversy among guests. This time, Disney gave shareholders the opportunity to vote on new policies. During the Independent Review and Report on Accessibility and Disability Inclusion Practices proposal, the shareholders proposing the vote mentioned that 85% of guests say they are unlikely to return because of accessibility changes in the parks. They also said that “it is not charity, it is not politics” in reference to why the Walt Disney Company should focus on the disability community, along with “these are not fringe guests. These are families planning multi-generational vacations.” The shareholders also commented, “protecting that magic means protecting the people who believe in it.” Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle The board recommended that shareholders vote against the proposal, Independent Review and Report on Accessibility and Disability Inclusion Practices, which was: “Given recent regulatory changes, we are including this proposal in the proxy statement, notwithstanding that we believe that it does not meet the requirements of Rules 14a-8, including on grounds that the proposal, read together with its supporting statement, is materially false and misleading in multiple respects, including statements regarding the Company and statements regarding purported research the proponent cities), related to the Company’s ordinary business operations and has already substantially implemented by the Company. These bases for exclusion are detailed in the Company’s no-action request submitted to the SEC on November 4th, 2025.” The proposal was not approved. When the Disability Access Service was mentioned, D’Amaro mentioned that the service reflects the extensive work that has been done with experts and medical professionals in an effort to understand individual needs. Parking at Disney World can be a little complicated, and that sometimes applies to Disney’s hotels. Disney’s BoardWalk Fortunately, Disney hotels offer lots of perks, such as FREE parking for hotel guests and guests with Advance Dining Reservations! With that in mind, not just anyone can pull up to a Disney hotel and park — and there are some Disney World hotels that enforce that rule more so than others… If you don’t have a dining reservation or aren’t a hotel guest, it’s very unlikely you’ll be allowed to park at the hotel. While some hotels are lax with this rule, allowing you to visit and grab something without a dining reservation, other popular resorts enforce the rules without mercy. All-Star Movies Parking For starters, Disney’s monorail resorts — Disney’s Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, and the Contemporary Resorts — are within walking distance to Magic Kingdom, and that reason alone means parking is super strict. Disney’s Contemporary Resort If you’re banking on parking at one of these hotels and running over to the park, we’re here to kill that dream. Parking policing is much stricter at these resorts, so if you really want to take advantage of these locations, you should make a dining reservation first and then hop on a monorail or walk to Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort The EPCOT area resorts — Disney’s Yacht Club, Disney’s Beach Club, and the BoardWalk Inn — have the same focus, just with EPCOT instead of Magic Kingdom. These hotels are fairly close to both EPCOT AND Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so folks sometimes want to park at these locations to get the best of both worlds. The BoardWalk Once again, a dining reservation is the way to go if you’re looking to park here without a stay. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn If you’re trying to maximize transportation, you probably know about the Disney Skyliner — which takes passengers to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Resorts along the route, like Disney’s Riviera, also get tough on parking. If you’re looking to take advantage of the Skyliner without a reservation, get ready to turn right around and find somewhere else to park. Disney’s Riviera Resort During the holidays and peak seasons, Disney’s Fort Wilderness gets pretty stingy with parking, as well. Fort Wilderness This camping resort is home to holiday golf cart parades that draw in extra attention and stays, forcing the resort to really crack down on the parking situation. If you want to get in on the fun, you’ll need to reserve a stay. Additionally, The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort allow parking for one motorized vehicle per campsite — so if you’re bringing more than one vehicle or want to rent a golf cart, you’ll need to park near the lobby and away from your site. OH BOY! (As Mickey would say!) Some big Disney movie news has just been revealed! Walt Disney Studios On March 18th, 2026, Disney held its annual Shareholder Meeting and dropped all kinds of updates, but there’s one in particular that movie fans might be VERY excited about! During the Shareholder Meeting, Disney announced the release date for the live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ sequel! Its projected release date is May 26th, 2028. We don’t have too many details about the sequel, but it will presumably catch up with Lilo and Stitch now that they’re living with David and Tūtū while Nani is away at college. ©Disney There will also be an Incredibles 3! Its projected theatrical release date is June 16th, 2028. This will be a continuation of the Disney Pixar Incredibles series, following the superhero family in their next big adventure. ©Disney That is just the latest in Disney’s upcoming movie projects. 2026 is stacked with Disney movies like The Mandalorian and Grogu, Hexed, the live-action Moana, Toy Story 5, and Avengers: Doomsday. Plus, Disney has already announced that they’re working on Frozen 3 and likely 4, Avengers: Secret Wars, Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Avatar 4 and 5, an untitled musical from Pixar, a third Monsters, Inc. movie, and So. But there was a very special announcement made for movie fans — a BRAND-NEW look has been shared of an upcoming Disney film, and it’s one that we’ve been looking forward to for a LONG time! Woody is not seen in this sneak peek — instead it’s Jessie who’s in charge in Bonnie’s room! She hops up to ask Lilypad some questions, and that’s where the toys really see all that she can do. She’s always listening, records their voices, and can play it back in new languages, or change it into something entirely new, like a rap. ©Disney We loved getting to see other familiar faces in this sneak peek, such as Forky (and what looks to be his girlfriend/wife), Bullseye, Buzz, Trixie, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Hamm, and so many more. Did you just drop MASSIVE news, and are we just supposed to keep going on our day like nothing happened? ©Disney If you didn’t know, Disney is right in the middle of expanding Disney Cruise Line — like majorly expanding Disney Cruise Line. They just released the name of the new cruise ship, and we’re going to need more details IMMEDIATELY. The ship is expected to debut in late 2027. This comes after the Disney Destiny sailing in late 2025 out of Florida, being the first heroes and villains themed ship, and the Disney Adventure, which debuted in March 2026 as the first Disney ship out of Singapore. A major change has just hit the Walt Disney Company. ©Disney Bob Iger has served as Disney’s CEO for many years (about 15 years in his first term and about 3 years and 5 months during his second term). He has made major changes throughout his tenure, acquiring brands like Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox. He oversaw the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, the release of movies like Frozen and Avengers: Endgame, and the launch of Disney+. But now, a new Disney CEO has officially taken over. As of March 18th, 2026, Josh D’Amaro — formerly the Charmian of the Disney Experiences division of the Company — is Disney’s new CEO. The baton has been passed down. During the 2026 Disney Shareholder Meeting held on March 18th, 2026, Disney addressed the transition from Iger to D’Amaro. Iger came on and had nothing but kind words to say about D’Amaro as he takes over the role. Iger said, “I believe in Josh D’Amaro,” along with “I will be cheering on Josh, Dana, and all of you as I sail off into the sunset.” After a long career, Iger is heading home and is ready to retire. ©Natacha Rafalski and Walt Disney Imagineering via Instagram Now, this isn’t the first time a new CEO has had to follow Iger and fill his shoes, so to speak. For a brief period of time (from Iger’s departure in 2020 to his return in November 2022), Bob Chapek served as Disney’s CEO. His term was marked by several difficult situations, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the controversial conflict with Florida’s Governor, Ron DeSantis, over the 2022 Parental Rights in Education Act. Reports later suggested that Iger regretted choosing Chapek as his successor. Bob Chapek and Bob Iger ©CNBC Ultimately, Chapek was removed from his CEO position, and Iger returned with a major focus placed on CEO succession planning to ensure a smooth transition. D’Amaro is the result of all those succession planning efforts. D’Amaro had served as the Chairman of the Disney Experiences division since 2020. He has overseen some major developments for Disney’s theme parks and cruise line, including the opening of new rides and new ships. But that doesn’t mean it hasn’t all been success after success for D’Amaro. He also served as Chairman of Disney Experiences through the opening and controversial closure of the Star Wars Hotel — Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney Now it’s just a matter of seeing how his term as CEO will go. Josh won’t be leading the Company alone, though. Uniquely, Disney has also named Dana Walden as President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company. According to Disney, Walden will be reporting to D’Amaro and will “ensure that storytelling and creative expression across every audience touchpoint consistently reflect the brand, engage audiences at scale, and advance core business objectives, while driving enterprise-wide initiatives and translating vision into action.” ©Disney And Iger will continue to be present in some way at the Disney Company, since he will serve as a Senior Advisor and a member of the Disney Board until he retires from the company on December 31st, 2026. Big things coming up in Walden and D’Amaro’s future include the release of several major movies (like the Tangled live-action movie and 2 more Avatar sequels) and work on several expansions at Disney theme parks around the world, like the Cars-themed space coming to Magic Kingdom, Villains land also for Magic Kingdom, and Pueblo Esperanza in Animal Kingdom. ©Disney What major events will mark D’Amaro’s time as CEO? When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. From quick service to luxurious sit-down restaurants, it’s tough to choose where to eat during your Disney vacation. Well, that’s what we’re here to help with! Here’s what we got! We recently stopped by the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom, one of the most popular dining spots at Disney World. Of course, we’re bringing you our FULL review. This is one of the more pricey dining options at Disney World, so is it really worth stopping by on your next trip? Let’s find out. Atmosphere The Crystal Palace is a character dining experience themed after the beloved characters from the Hundred Acre Woods. Here you’ll be able to dine with Pooh Bear, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore, as they each walk around the restaurant to interact with guests table by table. It’s located near the front of the park on Main Street, U.S.A., and the atmosphere is bright and welcoming. Just look at those huge windows welcoming in the sunlight. The Crystal Palace There is a lot of seating in here, and it’s all indoor seating. The restaurant has some fun decor, from banners to lights to plants. A ton of natural light gets in the restaurant thanks to all the windows. We’re here to celebrate Friendship Day! While each character comes up to your table and says hi, where they can pose for pictures and sign autograph books, they also do a small parade every once in a while, where they walk through the restaurant with little flags. It’s a pretty iconic restaurant at Disney World, but there’s also one in Disneyland. This place is beautiful! The restaurant is super family-friendly, while also being a cute spot for a date. We totally get how the atmosphere alone could draw people in. Keep in mind that because of the open concept, it can get pretty loud and might not be the best place for a full conversation, especially with the characters coming by and interrupting every now and again. We like to come here for special occasions like birthdays, though, and they have pretty big tables for larger parties. Having a buffet for larger groups is nice as well since everyone can get waht they enjoy. Don’t worry if you’re up getting food when the characters come by — your server usually keeps track of which characters you’ve seen, and you can just ask to make sure one comes by if you missed anyone. Pooh Bear! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The restaurant is an all-you-can-eat style buffet, offered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cost to dine there is $64 per adult and $44 per child, making it one of the more expensive dining experiences at Disney World. This is a fairly standard price for buffets around Disney World, though. All you can eat! And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We went to the restaurant in the morning for breakfast, which is usually the most popular time for Crystal Palace. The first thing we had were the Churro Waffles, and we LOVED them so much! It’s worth coming here for those alone, since this is the only place at Disney World where you can get these. Churro Waffles! These are good without anything on them, but the syrup is a good addition as well. They taste exactly like churros, but they’re in the shape of a Mickey waffle. This is the highlight of the food here, in our opinion. They’re for everyone, and everyone loves them! We’re OBSESSED! We also grabbed the Blueberry Cheesecake Pancakes, and they were basically like blueberry pancakes with some cream cheese drizzle on them. We wouldn’t really say they were like cheesecake. We found they were surprisingly hard for pancakes, and that’s because of the drizzle. Blueberry Cheesecake Pancakes There is some brown sugar sprinkled on top that adds to the texture and the flavor. They were still good, but the drizzle just makes them hard, especially if you take a while to eat them. They were interesting, but still good! We couldn’t pass up the Chocolate Chip French Toast. These tasted exactly like a chocolate mini muffin that you find at any buffet, but it was just in loaf form. It didn’t taste like a standard French Toast, so if that’s what you’re aiming for, don’t expect it from this. The syrup helps complement the flavor. Here’s our breakfast! We also had the Sticky Buns, which were like their pastry form of a cinnamon roll. Only this was coated in some sticky ingredient, almost like a hardened syrup. They call this sticky, and it is STICKY! This had pecans on it and all over it. The pecans made this pretty messy, so those with kiddos, be warned! Look at that Sticky Bun The Sticky Bun wasn’t bad, but we wouldn’t grab it again. Especially since the other options that we had on our plate were just SO much better than the Sticky Bun. Again, it’s not that it was bad; it just doesn’t hold up at all to the other stuff. You might as well get more of everything else. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want a top-tier dining experience — This place is popular and pricey for a reason. If you’re going all out on your next Disney vacation, we think this place is worth the pretty penny. You want character dining — There are only a few character dining options at Disney World. They are such a fun and unique dining experience, you literally won’t find anywhere else. You want breakfast at the park — It’s open all day, but breakfast is the most popular option among guests. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want to save money — As much as we like this place, it’s expensive. We wouldn’t advise spending the money to eat here if you want to save or if you aren’t too excited about the character dining experience. You are trying to make the most of the day — If your main mission is rides, shows, and attractions, dining at a quick service location will save you a lot more time. This is great for a slower breakfast, but not incredible if you’re looking to get in and out. Overall Overall, we’re big fans of the Crystal Palace over here and think it’s a place worth checking out, especially for breakfast. It had a great selection of different foods that we think adults and kids alike will enjoy, and of course, we’re always going for those churro waffles. It’s also super fun to meet all the Winnie the Pooh characters, including Piglet and Eeyore, which are usually only out for special occasions in the parks. Our tasty plate! Disneyland has lost its culinary director. Napa Rose The Orange County Register has confirmed with Disneyland officials that Andrew Sutton, culinary director of signature dining for the Disneyland Resort, has left the company. Those officials have not given a reason for Sutton’s departure. Sutton joined Disney in April 2000 and was part of the recent refurbishment and revamping of Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, as well as Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure and the private Club 33. He also debuted 21 Royal in 2017, an $18,000 multi-course dining experience in New Orleans Square. ©Disney Before serving as Disneyland’s Culinary Director, he graduated from The Culinary Institute of America. Chef Andrew served as the executive chef at Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley, CA, where he won two Chef of the Year awards. He was also sous chef with Dean Fearing at the 5-star 5-diamond Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas. As Culinary Director for Disney Resorts, he has garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards for Disney restaurants. Carthay Circle This news follows a wave of leadership moves within the company as former Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro steps up to become Disney’s new CEO and Dana Walden steps in as President and Chief Creative Officer, while Disneyland Resort President Thomas Mazloun becomes the new Chairman of Disney Experiences. Sometimes when traveling, you’re hit with unexpected situations you never really prepared to find yourself in…especially if you’re in a foreign country. Sometimes things don’t go as planned at the airport Recently, we were supposed to fly from Singapore, have a layover in Istanbul, then fly to Paris to check out the new Disney Adventure World offerings at Disneyland Paris, but a flight delay and then a flight cancellation totally messed up our plans. That left us stranded in the Singapore Airport unexpectedly, but what was even more troublesome was finding out that after we made our way to our gate, finding food would be HARD. The way the Singapore Airport works, as we found out firsthand, is that you aren’t allowed to have any food with you as you go through security, and there are only water dispensers around the area. That would have been fine, but then our flight was delayed, and we were very concerned (and hungry). Stuck in the airport However, at around 12:40 PM (during the delay), we got a text message telling us that refreshment service would begin soon, and that’s when we were given a snack pack. Inside, we found: A bottle of water A box of apple juice A KitKat Chocolate Hazelnut Oat Bar Antiseptic Wipe Lay’s Potato Chips Our snack pack This was certainly a nice treat, especially since there were no other options around us, and there’s really nothing else we could have done, or been more prepared for, since we weren’t able to bring any food with us through security. However, it did remind us how important it is to look up rules and regulations around international airports, because they can change pretty drastically! After our flight was officially canceled and we were ushered out of the airport, we fortunately got our luggage back and were able to grab some McDonald’s, which was a relief, since those snack packs weren’t supposed to replace a whole meal. When it comes to staying at Walt Disney World’s Pop Century Resort, choosing the best room comes down to the old reality axiom: Loation, Location, LOCATION! Pop Century However, finding the “perfect” room at Pop Century is not as simple as it may sound. Instead of there being one ideal room, there are actually several spread throughout the resort, each of which is “perfect” depending on what a guest actually wants out of their stay. Luckily for you, we’ve tracked down some of the best room options at Pop Century for many potential types of guests. Alright, so let’s begin with the ideal room for guests who want to be as close as possible to the Walt Disney World Skyliner so they can jump on line as early as possible in the morning… and have the shortest possible walk back to their room when returning to the hotel. Disney Skyliner at Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts The idea room for the Skyliner would be Room 4160 (or in that rough area). It’s not only close to the station, but it’s also even closer to the location where the Skyliner forms in the morning. Pop Century Room 4160 However, for those who want to be close to the hotel’s amenities, there are several options: Room 5161 (and those in the same area) are not only the closest to the hotel’s food court, Everything Pop… Pop Century Room 5161 … but they’re also the rooms that are closest to the resort’s main Hippy Dippy Pool. Hippy Dippy Pool Meanwhile, Room 2172 (and rooms in that area)… Pop Century Room 2172 … is located closest to the Bowling Pool… Bowling Pool … and Room 7172 (and those close to it)… Pop Century Room 7172 … is close to the Computer Pool. Computer Pool If you’d prefer your room to be closest to one of Pop Century’s parking lots, Room 2136 is closest to the 1950s lot… Pop Century Room 2136 … Room 7136 (and those near it) are closest to the 1980s lot… Pop Century Room 7136 … and Room 9113 are a short distance to the 90s lot. Pop Century Room 9113 Guests who want to be close to the lobby and luggage services will want to be in or near Room 1113. Pop Century Room 1113 And finally, guests who want the quietest room possible – away from the hustle and bustle of the pools, food court, lobby, and transportation, those in the area of Room 3137 are their best bet. Pop Century Room 3137 They also feature some of the hotel’s best views. Quiet room views. So, once you’ve figured out which of these rooms is for you, how can you get it? The best way to try would be to request your desired room (or the desired area of your room) at the front desk when you arrive at the hotel. Now, you CAN try and call prior to your arrival, but in our experience, it’s better to do it in person. Also, once you make the request, prepare yourself to possibly wait a bit longer than for a general room. Magic Kingdom is BUSY right now, y’all. Not only is Disney busy building a Cars expansion in Frontierland and a new Villains land behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is getting a big update), but Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland has also been getting a MASSIVE upgrade. ©Disney Disney recently revealed that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin would reopen on April 8th, but ahead of that, there will be early previews of the newly updated ride. Well, Disney has confirmed the first round of previews will begin VERY SOON for Cast Members. Cast Members will have a chance to check out the new version of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin on March 21st through 27th. If you’re a Cast Member, you’ll be among the first to see the new updates that have been added to the ride, including the brand-new ride vehicles. New ride vehicle! These new ride vehicles will also have removable blasters, so aiming at targets during the ride should be a lot easier…and more fun. You’ll even get a brand new UPDATED ride photo, which is like a GAZILLION times better than the previous ride photo. ©Disney The ride also has a new scene with a brand new character, Buddy, a robot who will help prepare you for your mission. Buddy will show riders how to use some of the ride’s new interactive features before they start making their way into deep space to take on Zurg. Interactive targets will also react when hit, so no more guessing if you actually hit a target or not! ©Disney The hyperspace scene has also been updated with Buzz Lightyear himself. In this scene, Zurg is now releasing a bunch of space mines, and you can earn points by shooting them. If you’re not a Cast Member and you can’t wait to ride the new version of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin yourself, you’ll be able to do so on April 8th, when the ride officially reopens to the public. It’s possible that Disney will also announce Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club previews for this ride, but as of now, no announcements have been made. When it comes to snacks at Walt Disney World, there are many, many, MANY options… meaning that someone with pretty much any taste buds. Cinnamon Roll with Orange Cream Cheese Icing For example, during a recent trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth,” one of our team members had a treat at EPCOT that became their FAVORITE thing on the trip, to the point that they’ve been daydreaming of it ever since. Norway’s Kringla Bakeri og Kafe offers a Cinnamon Roll with Orange Cream Cheese Icing for $7.49… and it is a spectacular hidden gem! Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe For starters, this role was way bigger than we would have imagined. The orange flavor comes through so nicely without being overwhelming, and there was plenty of icing for each bite. Plus, it was fresh and moist every time, something that can’t be said for other Disney World cinnamon rolls (we’re looking at you, Gaston’s). That icing is everything Of course, the Orange Cinnamon Roll isn’t the only delicious treat available at Kringla. The bakery also has the ICONIC School Bread (a sweet Roll filled with custard and dipped in coconut, as if you didn’t know) for $5.49… School Bread … Norwegian Kringla (a pretzel-shaped pastry with sweet fondant, raisins, and chocolate topping) for $7.49… Norwegian Kringla … the $4.99 Eplekake (apple cake with caramel drizzle)… Eplekake … the $3.99 Lefse (soft flatbread rolled with cinnamon, sugar and butter)… Have you ever tried Lefse? … and the $4.89 Verden’s Beste Kake (vanilla cake with custard and almond-meringue topping). Verdens Beste Beyond those forever offerings, guests at EPCOT for the 2026 Flower & Garden Festival can find a special offering at the Norway Beer cart. The $5.49 Lemon Bolle is a Cardamom bun filled with lemon curd and meringue, and it was one of our favorite items at the fest. Lemon Bolle As we wrote in our festival review, “the meringue was a bit more marshmallow-forward than we were expecting with some extra stickiness and sweetness, but the lemon curd was DELIGHTFUL. It was bright and tart, and there was quite a lot of it inside the bun. The bun is soft and squishes nicely when you bite into it, followed by the gush of that lemon curd.” Lemon Bolle As you can see, there are a litany of permanent and limited-time pastry options available at EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion, including the Cinnamon Roll with Orange Cream Cheese that enraptured us. A popular Florida airport just made history! Breeze Airways just added a nonstop flight between Tampa International Airport and San Jose, Costa Rica. This is the first flight connecting from Tampa to Costa Rica in over 25 years. ©Breeze Airways Breeze will soon be the only route offering direct flights from Tampa to San Jose. Service to San Jose begins on October 3rd with routes on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Returning service to San Jose has been a long-time goal of the Tampa airport. The Costa Rican capital city offers many tourist destinations, including museums, national parks, and shopping centers. The move will also benefit Florida businesses, since Costa Rica is the state of Florida’s ninth-largest trade partner. In addition, many Tampa Bay area families have ties to Costa Rica; 3,000 Costa Rican-born residents have immigrated to Tampa as of the 2020 U.S. Census. ©Costa Rica Escapes In addition to their historic San Jose route, Breeze Airways is launching a new direct flight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, out of the Tampa International Airport. Flights to Punta Cana start on July 2nd with operations on Thursdays and Sundays. The Walt Disney Company is getting a new CEO, and both fans and Cast Members alike are obsessed with him. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney Josh D’Amaro takes the mantle as CEO on March 18th, 2026, and he has big, Mickey Mouse yellow shoes to fill. There’s no doubt that the leader of the media giant will bear the expectations of millions of fans and Cast Members alike, but he has one thing going for him ahead of time — people seem to love him. Harvard Business Review recently did a piece on Josh D’Amaro, describing three separate instances where their reporter shadowed the CEO-to-be at his job as Chairman of Disney Experiences. And at the beginning of the article, the reporter includes the following quote: “He wasn’t a public figure, but he was someone people wanted to work for, follow, and build with. The ‘Josh effect,’ people called it.” Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Josh D’Amaro at the 2023 Destination D23 fan convention. ©Disney Throughout the various shadowing days, the reporter witnessed guests and Cast Members alike greeting D’Amaro with enthusiasm. Park visitors would smile and request selfies, and employees would give hugs and recount stories of down-to-earth conversations in visits past. The article went on to say: “What I was seeing in these moments was not personality or charisma. Josh was practicing a specific leadership capability—one that most organizations do not yet have language for, one that I call ‘experience intelligence,’ or the ability to read and shape the human experience. Under his leadership, cast members did not respond because they were pressured. They responded because they felt seen, trusted, capable, and proud of what they were a part of.” ©Disney How does D’Amaro accomplish this? He focuses on creating extreme positive experiences with the people he interacts with. Fans “liking” something isn’t enough…they must LOVE it. To create an extreme positive reaction, you must offer an equally positive experience. “Leaders with experience intelligence understand that love isn’t a coating of softness. Rather, it is an ingredient—a specific cluster of feelings which an experience either creates or fails to create.” Josh D’Amaro in Magic Kingdom Getting guests and Cast Members to say they “loved” something instead of a milder feeling of like, respect, or enjoyment makes all the difference. In fact, D’Amaro took this into consideration with the Mandalorian & Grogu-inspired overlay of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. When referencing the current version of the ride, D’Amaro noted, “Guests like it, but they don’t love it.” Josh D’Amaro in Magic Kingdom The redesign of the attraction means that each person riding has more influence over the outcome of the “mission.” Small changes like these, when thinking about the future of Disney, are what cultivate the “Josh effect.” Curating an environment and experience that people truly love gives them a positive association with D’Amaro. And those positive feelings? It’s a big day for The Walt Disney Company — a day that we’ve known would arrive for years, but it feels a little surreal we’re actually here! Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney Today, Bob Iger officially steps down as CEO (originally, his contract stated he’d be CEO through the end of 2026, but when his replacement was announced, it was also revealed he’d be stepping down early), and the new CEO takes his place. What does a leadership change this large really mean? Well, we’re about to find out! Today, March 18th, Josh D’Amaro officially becomes the new CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Bob Iger steps down to Senior Advisor. Additionally, Dana Walden also becomes the new President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company. ©Disney When we checked The Walt Disney Company website this morning, all of their roles have now been updated. D’Amaro’s bio on the website talks about his nearly three-decade-long career with Disney thus far, including his success as Chairman of Disney Experiences. It also mentions that part of D’Amaro’s strategic vision outlines “priorities aimed at uniting human creativity with cutting-edge technology to create unforgettable storytelling experiences that deepen Disney’s enduring bond with fans and consumers.” Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Josh D’Amaro at the 2023 Destination D23 fan convention. ©Disney As for Dana Walden, she previously served as Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, and now is responsible for “guiding creative strategy across the company’s entertainment touchpoints to deliver the world’s most beloved storytelling to fans across the many ways they choose to enjoy it.” Before joining Disney, Walden served at 21st Century Fox for 25 years, and came to Disney in 2019 with the company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. ©The Walt Disney Company As for Bob Iger’s section of the website, he is listed as a Senior Advisor, and his bio details his history as CEO of the company for nearly two decades.
