  3. Alright, you Disney World snackers, the time has come to lay out the best snacks to try in 2024! Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom We’ve put together a list of 24(!!) snacks that you need to hunt down and taste on your 2024 Disney World trip. Trust us, these won’t leave you disappointed. Some are located in the parks while others don’t require you to have a park ticket to try. So let’s get started! We’ve got a long list of epic portions! We’re starting with the don’t-miss, on-the-go breakfast items you can find around Disney World. Breakfast Pancake Sandwich The Pancake Sandwich can be found at multiple quick-service locations around Animal Kingdom. Check Drinkwalla, Pongu Pongu, and Trek Snacks for this breakfast sandwich. It is sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese inside a thick pancake-like biscuit! Pancake Stuffed Sandwich It’s a lot like a sausage and egg biscuit you could find at a fast food restaurant. But the guava jam adds another element of flavor and adds some sweetness. Breakfast Totchos Breakfast Totchos have become popular thanks to Woody’s Lunch Box at Hollywood Studios. But now you can find them in even more locations! Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery at Animal Kingdom and many of the value resort food courts now offer them. Breakfast Totchos The best version of these is still the Woody’s Lunch Box ones, but the others are great, too! Woody’s has smoked brisket and country gravy, while the others are loaded with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, sausage gravy, and bacon. Waffle Platter Over in Hollywood Studios, at Hollywood Scoops, you can find a yummy Mickey-shaped blueberry waffle platter topped with whipped cream and syrup. A cup of Mickey Waffles? YES, PLEASE! For around $9.50 we’ll grab these Mickey waffles any day! Ronto Morning Wrap The original Ronto Wrap you can grab for lunch and dinner comes in a breakfast variety at Ronto Roasters in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. It’s a pita filled with scrambled eggs, grilled pork sausage, shredded cheese, and peppercorn sauce. Ronto Morning Wrap It is a filling and savory breakfast item. Next, we’re headed to Disney Springs to see what seasonal goodies they have for us in 2024! Seasonal Snacks in Disney Springs Cookies of the Month at Gideon’s Bakehouse Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs comes out with monthly cookie and cake slice options. These are creative and unique takes on cookies. They are bursting with flavors and are anything but “normal.” Lemon Poppy Crumb Cookie These are worth the trip to Disney Springs to try out what they’re baking up! Dole Whip Flights at Swirls on the Water The Dole Whip flight options at Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs are regularly rotated out for different incoming flavors. While they usually include the Dole Whip Pineapple and Vanilla Swirl, the other two options are swapped out to go with the season. Dole Whip flight We’ve seen some pretty great options here in 2023 like Dole Whip watermelon, Dole Whip lime, and even a Hocus Pocus-themed trio! Seasonal Doughnuts at Everglazed Everglazed Doughnuts and Cold Brew is a great spot for gourmet doughnut flavors. You can find several flavors year-round here but you can also catch new, seasonal flavors as well. Some Everglazed holiday donuts Not only do they rotate the doughnuts with the season, but also iconic events going on (like the Taylor Swift doughnut)! Monthly Ice Cream at Salt and Straw Salt and Straw is similar to Gideon’s Bakehouse in that they swap out their specialty flavors each month! Exquisito Guanabana Stracciatella Salt and Straw even offered Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters ice cream made with matcha ice cream, coconut candied meal worms, and chocolate-covered crickets. Yep. There were real bugs in our ice cream (on purpose). There are so many great options for kids (of all ages) in Disney World! We’ve picked out a few that we think most kids would enjoy. For the Kids Wookie Cookie Also at Hollywood Studios, you can get a Wookie Cookie, complete with a chocolate sash. You can grab this cookie at Backlot Express. The Wookiee Cookie at Backlot Express The Wookie Cookie is two oatmeal cookies sandwiched with a vanilla cream filling and then garnished with a chocolate piece to replicate Chewbacca’s sash. It’s very soft and chewy. It’s one of our favorites! (But a word of warning– the chocolate sash melts quickly in the sun!) Lunch Box Tarts Not only does Woody’s Lunch Box have the best Breakfast Totchos in Disney World, but they also have Lunch Box Tarts! These are fancy takes on the popular Poptart treat you could find at Walmart or your local grocery store. Hot Chocolate Lunchbox Tart Goofy’s Glaciers Back over in Disney Springs, you’ll find Goofy’s Glaciers at Goofy’s Candy Co. This treat is not often talked about, but it is great, especially for kids! Goofy’s Glaciers Mix and match the fruity flavors of icee-like frozen drinks for a fun snack. Tie Dye Cheesecake This funky and delicious cheesecake can be found at Everything POP inside Disney’s Pop Century Resort. It’s been around since 2003 and certainly fits the groovy vibes at Pop Century. Tie-dye Cheesecake Yes, it does look like Play-Doh, but it’s actually really creamy and rich with flavor! The cheesecake sits on top of a red velvet crust that makes it even better. Kids would love to eat this colorful dessert. But who said snacks JUST have to be food? There are so many delicious drinks around Disney World that you can get either with or without alcohol! Drinks Frozen Viking Coffee The Frozen Viking Coffee is an alcoholic drink in EPCOT at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in the Norway Pavilion. It is Baileys Irish Cream, Kamora Coffee Liqueur, Coffee-chocolate sauce, and garnished on top with a coffee-chocolate crunch. Frozen Viking Coffee The Frozen Viking Coffee is (obviously) boozy, but if you’re looking for a non-alcoholic option then try Kristoff Kaffe–it’s essentially the same thing without the alcohol. Tipsy Ducks in Love As the name, Tipsy Ducks in Love, implies, this is an alcoholic drink with bourbon, black tea, coffee, cream, and chocolate. You can get it in the China Pavilion at the Joy of Tea kiosk. Tipsy Ducks in Love You can get the non-tipsy ducks version by asking for no bourbon. Either way, it is a smooth, creamy, and refreshing drink. Cold Brew Black Caf Back in Hollywood Studios, you can get the Cold Brew Black Caf in Galaxy’s Edge at Kat Saka’s Kettle. This is a dark chocolate-style cold brew coffee with sweet cream cheese and chocolate puffs on top! Cold Brew Black Caf You can also ask for this to be spiked! They’ll add Godiva Chocolate Liqueur to it which actually makes it a little sweeter. Normally, this is on the bitter side with the dark chocolate and cold brew flavors as the stand out. If you prefer grabbing larger snacks that you can share, you’ll want to check out these options! Shareable Snacks French Fries topped with Pulled Pork and Cheese These loaded (and we mean LOADED) fries can be found in Animal Kingdom at Flame Tree Barbecue. They had gone away for a while, but they are back! French Fries with Pulled Pork and Cheese They have large amounts of pulled pork and cheese on top and are very filling. You can keep them all for yourself or share them for a little lighter option. Churros at Nomad Lounge Nomad Lounge at Animal Kingdom offers a sit-down option for your busy day in the parks. Their churros here are crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle–as churros should be. Nomad Lounge Churros and Dipping Sauces They’re served with two dipping sauces– vanilla crema and strawberry-guava sauce. Nomad Lounge usually accepts a walk-up waitlist, so trying these is definitely an option. Indian-Style Bread Service Heading over to the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge, we HAVE to talk about the Indian-style bread Service at Sanaa. Bread Service at Sanaa This bread service is amazing. While the Sanaa restaurant generally requires a reservation, you can also get the bread service at Sanaa Lounge which is a first come, first served lounge next to the main restaurant. You get five different breads and nine accompaniments. It’s wonderful. ‘Ohana Bread Pudding At another popular hotel, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, you need to try the ‘Ohana Bread Pudding. This is usually at the ‘Ohana restaurant, but you can typically as your server at Tambu Lounge for it. ‘Ohana Bread Pudding at Tambu Lounge! The bread pudding is a warm pineapple bread with caramel sauce, and you may or may not get ice cream with it at the lounge. A few new dining locations are opening up in Disney World in 2024 (or opened at the very end of 2023). Based on other locations these restaurants (and snack stand) have, we know they’re going to be worth trying! New Dining Tandoori Chicken Poutine A new Indian-inspired restaurant, eet by Maneet Chauhan, just opened up in Disney Springs! They serve many delicious foods with an Indian take on them. But our favorite here is the Tandoori Chicken Poutine. Full Spread at eet by Maneet Chauhan The poutine has chaat masala fries, tandoori chicken, white cheddar curds, and a rich tomato butter sauce. This poutine may be our favorite in all of Disney World. The Cookie Jar Not yet open in Disney Springs is the Summer House on the Lake. At this new airy, beach house-style restaurant, we’ll be able to visit the dessert-focused market called The Cookie Jar! ©DisneySprings Instagram You’ll be able to purchase freshly baked cookies and pastries at this yummy market. You might find some of their popular flavors such as sea salt chocolate chip, birthday cake, oatmeal scotchie, apple oatmeal, and vegan Snickerdoodle. The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers The Cake Bake Shop has had a delayed opening, but it will FINALLY be opening in 2024! You’ll be able to find decadent cakes here worth indulging in. Cake Bake Shop Construction We actually tried some of her cake at one of her Indiana locations, and we’ll just say that the shop at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn needs to hurry up and open! Pickle Corndog Sadly, we recently learned that the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs stand (also at the Boardwalk resort) has been delayed to open now in 2024. We can’t wait to try their famous and unique take on corn dogs. One that has been confirmed for the Disney World location is the Pickle Corndog. Downtown Disney Pickle Corndog These corndogs have taken the West Coast by storm over at Downtown Disney in Disneyland and we’re excited to have them in Disney World! Mexican Street Corndog The Mexican Street Corndog is another option at the Blue Ribbon Corndog stand that has been confirmed for the Disney World location. Mexican Street Corn Dog A few other menu items at the stand include lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and freshly spun cotton candy. This stand will fit right in at the Boardwalk. Soon to be the home of Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? 5. For three and a half years, we’ve been purchasing our Disney World meals as we go…so what happens when the Dining Plan returns? Riverside Mill Food Court Many fans are excited about the return of Dining Plans, which allow you to pay for your meals in advance, and then use quick service, table service, or snack credits to purchase them in the parks. But the announcement of the plan’s return hasn’t been without controversy. The prices are higher than they were before, and now, we have confirmation of a CHANGE when it comes to snack credits! According to the Disney World website, those using the Dining Plan will no longer be able to swap a quick service credit for three snack credits. This was an option that was available in the past, but will not be allowed when the Dining Plan returns in 2024. Pepperoni and Cheese Spring Rolls If you purchase the Dining Plan, each day of your visit you’ll get one snack credit. The number of table service and quick service credits varies depending on which of the two plans you select. Maple Popcorn We’ll keep an eye out for any more changes with the Dining Plan, as well as all the best options for using your snack credits. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest details! 7. If you’ve kept up with Walt Disney Company News, then you know that much of Disney CEO Bob Iger’s focus has been on improving the company’s streaming platform. Mickey and Pals at Cinderella Castle Since early 2023, the company has undergone a mass restructuring to shift focus and to reallocate funds to support the improvement of Disney+ and the company’s other streaming assets. In late 2023, the final quarterly earnings call showed that the restructuring seemed to be working, and that Disney is set to profit from Disney+ in late 2024 — for the first time since before the pandemic. Now, another big change is taking place on Disney+, and it has to do with Disney’s recent announcement that they will purchase the remaining shares in Hulu. Can you guess what it is? Yep, the Hulu on Disney+ beta launch is officially here! It was confirmed during the earnings call that Hulu would soon be available within the Disney+ app, so that you wouldn’t have to switch back and forth between the different platforms to watch your favorite movies and shows. Here’s what you need to know! ©Disney Starting on December 6th, Hulu is available on Disney+ for users within the United States and Canada. It’ll be located at the top of the screen along with the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic tiles. There it is! The important thing to note is that until the official launch in March 2024, Bundle Subscribers will only be able to access a limited number of Hulu titles, as the company troubleshoots and works to “better understand the consumer’s needs and wants when it comes to Hulu on Disney+ before it officially launches in the spring.” All your Hulu titles are available within Disney+ now Disney also said that this gives parents time to set up controls and filters to ensure that everyone in the family will only have access to shows and movies deemed appropriate. Joe Earley — Disney Entertainment’s President of Direct-to-Consumer — addressed that Hulu has more adult content than what Disney+ subscribers are probably used to accessing within the app. This is why they stressed the importance of setting up parental controls and part of the reason they decided on a two-step launch. ©Hulu “There are a few reasons why we think this is going to be an exciting new experience for our subscribers,” Earley said. “Even before the launch of Disney+, research was very clear that consumers want ‘kid time,’ ‘we time,’ and ‘me time.’ I want incredible stuff for my kids, I want to watch things as a family, and then I want to put the kids to bed and watch things that are more adult in nature.” We can’t wait to explore the beta version of the launch and see all that the bundle has to offer. We’ll continue to keep you updated with all things Disney News, so make sure to follow along for more so that you never miss a thing! Looking for more Disney+ news? Click here! 10. There are many ways to get to Disney World. Brightline station in Miami While most of us fly, some of us also drive, but there’s a WAY better option for those who live in Florida. That option is the high-speed Brightline train service that will take you from Miami to Orlando International Airport in around 3.5 hours. It’s way more comfortable than a plane PLUS it’s also cost-efficient, even if you’re considering driving. Now, you can score travel on Brightline for less than it costs to fill up your car with gas! Brightline is having a holiday sale where you can book a trip for as little as $39 for smart fares and $79 for premium fares (think first class). There IS a catch, though: these fares are only for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. But hey, if you suddenly decide to head to Orlando for those two days, you have a great option to do so. Onboard a Brightline train If you plan on traveling on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, you can book a ticket for $39 for smart fare or $99 for premium fare. All you have to do to score these tickets is book seven days in advance (so, yes, there’s still time to grab this deal). Brightline at Orlando You can also still score 50% off for smart fares for children traveling on Brightline. If you’re traveling with a group of four or more, you can get an additional 25% off. 11. If there’s one thing we love almost as much as we love Disney World — it’s McDonald’s. YUM! We’re always waiting for the latest Happy Meal Toys, salivating over the newest menu items, and even having healthy office debates about which Happy Meal reigns supreme. So, when we read this latest announcement, we nearly jumped for joy. McDonald’s has announced that they are planning to offer their McCrispy sandwich in “nearly all markets around the world by the end of 2025.” Not only that, but they’ll be expanding the McCrispy line to include wraps and tenders! Spicy McCrispy Chicken Sandwich YEP! You read that correctly — we may be getting WRAPS and TENDERS back at McDonald’s! You might remember just how popular McDonald’s Snack Wraps were before they went away, or perhaps you have fond memories of Chicken Selects — deliciously crispy tenders. 12. Calling all Annual Passholders! There’s a FREE GIFT for you in Disney World today! Disney World Annual Pass Come with us to pick up some exclusive souvenirs in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney announced previously that a couple of Annual Passholder magnets that had been released earlier this year will be BACK in Disney World for a limited time. These magnets are free to Annual Passholders, so if you missed your chance to snag one when they first came out, now’s your chance. The two magnets that are being re-released are the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit magnet… Disney World Annual Pass Magnet …and the Figment magnet. They’re only available through December 19th. Another Peek at the Magnet To get your free Annual Passholder magnet, you’ll need to head to Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (located in DinoLand, U.S.A.). When we arrived, we spotted a sign letting us know where to go. Annual Pass Magnet Distribution The line looked really long, but it was moving quickly. Long line We got to the front, showed our Annual Pass and ID, and were handed over the magnets! Got ’em! The Oswald one is silver and sparkly, and the Figment one is purple, with the adorable dragon holding a paintbrush. So cute Note that you will need a Park Pass Reservation in order to get into Animal Kingdom to claim your magnet(s), or you can hop there after 2PM without a reservation. You must present either your Annual Pass card, a linked MagicBand or MagicBand+, or a linked MagicMobile pass along with your government-issued photo ID to get a magnet. There’s a limit of one of each magnet per Passholder (so you can get both magnets, but you can’t get more than one of either magnet). Stay tuned to DFB for more of the latest Disney news! 13. Chances are we’ve all been there — major retail regret. Let’s go shopping! You saw the shiny, cool new toy and couldn’t wait to grab it in every single color. But, now that the novelty has worn off — you’re wondering why the heck you even bought it in the first place! Well, dear DFB readers, we asked, and you answered — and nearly half of you will NEVER buy this in Disney World again. We asked our readers whether they had purchased a MagicBand+ and if they’d ever buy another one — and here’s what they said! But first, a brief refresher on MagicBands! MagicBand+ The original MagicBands are the wearable technology (a band worn on the wrist containing a Radio-Frequency Identification or RFID chip) that connects — or “unlocks” — all the experiences booked through My Disney Experience once guests arrive at Walt Disney World. (Prior to MagicBand+, MagicBands were not available in Disneyland.) MagicBand An original MagicBand can: Serve as a Digital Key to enter your Disney World Resort hotel room; Serve as your park “ticket” (when linked to pre-purchased valid admission); Pay for purchases around the parks (for Disney World Resort hotel guests); Enter attraction Lightning Lanes booked through Disney Genie; And connect Disney Photopass pictures to your My Disney Experience account. MagicBand But, MagicBand+ comes alive with color-changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition, enabling “magical surprises” in the parks! MagicBands can be a great way to have nearly everything you need in Disney World at your fingertips — but you can also do that with MagicMobile on your phone or smartwatch. So, do fans think they’ll be racing to buy more bands? Well, maybe! MagicBand+! The results were pretty even — 55% of our readers who replied said that yes, they had bought a MagicBand+ and would likely continue to buy more. But, 45% said that no — they didn’t think their MagicBand+ was worth it, and because of this, they’d never buy another MagicBand+ again! via DFB Instagram Like we mentioned before, you can also access MagicBand features on your phone with the Disney MagicMobile service! This allows you to enter theme parks (with your valid admission), connect PhotoPass photos, and access Virtual Queues for in-demand attractions, and redeem Disney Dining Plan credits with your pass. And you can even charge to your Disney hotel with MagicMobile, just like you would with a MagicBand. Magic Mobile But, the big difference lies in the interactive features of MagicBand+ — with MagicMobile, you just get the features of the old MagicBand — that means no lights, no haptic feedback, no interacting with fireworks shows, rides, and elements of the park. If those features aren’t something you think is worth shelling out an extra $40+ for on your vacation, well, you might be better off without it! ©Disney At the end of the day, only you can really determine whether or not you think a MagicBand+ is worth it, hopefully, these results give you a better idea of how others feel! 14. Being a Disney World fan is sometimes… difficult. Of course, in the grand scheme of things — we’re lucky to be able to visit the parks so often and notice each change that takes place. Cinderella Castle But sometimes, those changes make us downright mad — especially when it’s to something we’ve come to know like the backs of our hands. That’s why we’re always on the hunt for the latest clues as to what changes might be in store for Disney World — and we found quite a bit this time around! We take a look at permits recently filed by Disney to get an idea of what might be in store for the parks and more, and here’s what we found this time around. Magic Kingdom Alright y’all, buckle up — we found a permit for an iconic Magic Kingdom ride. Keep in mind, though, that this just means work might be getting started over here and that it could really be any type of construction. A general construction permit has been filed for Pirates of the Caribbean! Pirates of the Caribbean The permit description doesn’t get any more specific than “general construction,” but it was filed on December 4th and doesn’t expire until November 1st, 2024. This may be just for something simple, but we’ll keep an eye on any potential changes. Pirates of the Caribbean We also spotted a permit for general construction over at what appears to be the Ferry Dock at the Transportation and Ticket Center, and we’ll let you know if it will impact your trip. EPCOT Quite a few EPCOT World Showcase Pavilions have had permits filed for them recently! Each appears to just be more general construction — without any further specifics — but it looks like work might be getting started in Germany… Germany Pavilion …Norway… Norway Pavilion …and the American Adventure Pavilion. American Adventure It also looks like a new permit has been filed for World Celebration — to “install [a] cladding system.” Animal Kingdom The Kali River Rapids loading queue area will possibly be getting some love in the near future. A permit was recently filed to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction” over here. Kali River Rapids As of now, the Kali River Rapids page on the Disney World website doesn’t show any closures, but we often see water rides go down for maintenance during the winter, so it’s possible that’s when this might occur. We’ll keep you updated! Kali River Rapids Stay tuned to DFB for the latest news from around Disney World and more! The ULTIMATE Guide To Animal Kingdom for 2024 DON'T DO IT ALONE! 18. EPCOT‘s glow-up of World Celebration literally can make your jaw drop. Disney Imagineers talking about creating World Celebration gardens World Celebration has been under construction for years and now we finally can see the fruits of that labor and the finished product. Not only do we have an incredible space to sit, dream, and play but it even transforms at night. We had a chance to dive deeper into the details of it all, and what was shared directly from Disney Imagineers blew our minds! While taking in the sights and sounds of the reopened World Celebration Gardens, we had an opportunity to listen and take in details about the land from those who know it best. Three Disney Imagineers who were instrumental in overseeing EPCOT’s transformation of the park were kind enough to share with us details and secrets about what went into every decision that makes up the finished look. This four-year transformation is one that seemed to have been worth the wait, so let’s fill you in on a few nuggets they shared! World Celebration Gardens The glowing ground was a HUGE “will they won’t they” element that had all of the Disney fans buzzing when EPCOT announced plans to revamp this area. Lights in the Pavement | 2019 We learned from the Disney Imagineers that when they thought about the fiber optic lights that were used in the ground here before, they really wanted to draw inspiration from it but make it come into its own. Through the advancing technology, and their stroke of genius, the finished product that can be seen today features over 300 LED lights embedded in the pavement. But, as you take a look around you’ll likely find that they totally nailed it! We thought it was a neat opportunity to sit down and hear directly from the creative minds behind EPCOT’s new look. 19. The Brightline Train to Orlando International Airport is officially up and running. Brightline train We’ve even taken the train, and honestly, we think it might be our new favorite way to get to Orlando. However, when the train was first proposed, there was initially supposed to be a stop at Disney Springs, which would take you from the airport directly to Disney Springs quickly and efficiently. However, that plan was scrapped when Disney backed out of the deal. But, wait, because there could be a train coming to Disney Springs, after all! In 2022, an alternative station was still being planned NEAR Disney Springs, but not on land actually owned by Disney. That’s because the final decision was for the train’s route to use some of SunRail’s existing tracks — this was referred to as the Sunshine Corridor Program. Disney felt that this route would not support a Disney Springs station. Onboard a Brightline train So what about this alternative station NEAR Disney Springs? Well, according to WFTV, a public input session was recently held at the Taft Community Center about the Sunshine Corridor, which is near SunRail’s main line, close to where the proposed route — including the Disney Springs-area station — is located. Brightline Orlando Train Station Overall, public feedback was mostly positive, with many community members seeing the extension as a good way to get tourists and workers between home and major destinations, while also decreasing car traffic on I4 and other busy roadways. Brightline Train Security in Orlando However, this doesn’t mean we’ll get a Disney Springs-area Brightline station anytime soon. The Florida Department of Transportation still has to do environmental reviews, figure out designs, get funding, and construct the station. All of that could be YEARS away. Of course, with the new Orlando station being completed and a route to Tampa on the way, it is within the realm of possibility of happening, and two more community meetings will be coming up soon for residents to weigh in. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details as they get released. So stay tuned to DFB for more. Slow, dark, themed rides? Check. Delicious snacks and drinks? Yep. Water slides and more?! Also, yes. But, if you were planning on heading to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park anytime soon, we’ve got a bit of bad news to share. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will be closed on December 6th and 7th due to cold (by Florida standards) weather! Let’s go to Blizzard Beach! We know, it seems a little silly for a park called Blizzard Beach to close because of chilly weather, but Disney often does this when the weather isn’t ideal or if they’re not anticipating a ton of visitors to the park. Don’t worry, though, Blizzard Beach will reopen on December 8th and remain that way for the foreseeable future. If you’re planning on making a visit, park hours for the rest of the week are from 10AM to 5PM. Summit Plummet December is a great time to visit Blizzard Beach because there’s just so much going on! 23. The newest announcement about a Disney-inspired community may have you considering moving to the mountains. ©Disney Storyliving by Disney is Disney’s project with ambitions to build master-planned communities throughout the US. The project initially hit the scene with one announced community and room for growth. While we’ve not had confirmation until this point that interest would lead to another community being added, it seems that Disney is ready to move ahead with plans for a 2nd location SOON! Storyliving by Disney took to Instagram to reveal their newest location to be added to the community lineup. North Carolina has been chosen as the newest state to receive an exclusive neighborhood with all the Disney touches. ©Disney The newest community is to be named Asteria and will be located in Pittsboro, North Carolina which is near Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Construction for Asteria is expected to begin soon, with sales being available by 2027. Disney says that this area is an “inspired location where the beauty of nature and allure of new discoveries beckon.” Walt Disney Imagineering and DMB Development are in charge of overseeing the construction of the homes that will make up this community. ©Disney The Asteria community will offer its future residents “distinctive Disney placemaking and outstanding customer service” contributed by the creative minds of Disney Imagineers. A variety of home styles will be offered to line the neighborhood streets, and Asteria will include several community amenities designed to showcase the neighboring natural beauty. Currently, there are plans for more than 4,000 residential units in single-family and multi-family homes, with several of those sites planned for 55+ adults and will be part of the award-winning Chatham Park master-planned community. Asteria residents will have the opportunity to enjoy “big-city amenities with the charm of a small town.” ©Disney If you’re not already familiar with Storyliving by Disney, they are new home communities that are built in partnership with Walt Disney Imagineering where Disney Cast Members will provide service to the neighborhood. A wait list for interest is posted on the Storyliving by Disney website for locations and future information. ©Disney So far this makes only the 2nd community U.S. location revealed for Storyliving by Disney and follows the inaugural announcement of the Cotino community, which is already under development in Rancho Mirage, California. Additional Storyliving by Disney locations are currently in the exploration stages. This is very exciting news for those looking to live in a Disney-inspired community on the East Coast of the U.S. We’ll continue to keep watch over more locales and news as it’s released from Disney. 24. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ personally appointed board of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is not quite ready to give up the fight against Disney. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream Since DeSantis appointed the new Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board (CFTOD), we’ve seen multiple changes in the district that governs Disney World, including a mass exodus of employees, the removal of certain benefits, and a hefty tax bill to boot. Now, a new report from the CFTOD is accusing Disney of previously providing benefits that were “akin to bribes.” Here’s what we know. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has released a new report accusing Disney of previously providing employee benefits they claim were “akin to bribes.” Outside experts hired by the CFTOD examined past practices of the former Disney-controlled Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID). Disney vs. DeSantis The main practice in question is Reedy Creek’s purchasing of Disney World annual passes for employees and retirees, something that has been a major factor in RCID employee life for years. Following the Reedy Creek Improvement District’s dissolution earlier this year, employees of the district lost perks like park tickets and covered discounts. After backlash over this change, the CFTOD approved stipends for employees instead. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board | Glen Gilzean “For years, the company treated district employees like Disney employees by, for instance, providing complimentary annual passes and steep discounts—benefits and perks that were akin to bribes,” the report says. The report also indicated that employees should have had to pay taxes on the cash value of the passes — leaving them owing the government a whopping $2 million in back taxes. “(Reedy Creek) should have treated that fringe benefit as part of the employee’s taxable income and either withheld taxes from the employee’s paychecks based on that value or paid such taxes on the employee’s behalf,” the report continues. Magic Kingdom It’s because of this, per the report, that Disney-operated RCID was “the most egregious exhibition of corporate cronyism in modern American history.” As far as the outstanding tax bill goes, the responsibility could fall on both the district and its employees, who could face tax implications if the IRS finds taxes were never paid on the Disney World park passes. If the resolution that is being worked out with the IRS results in the district paying the tax liability, that means the taxpayers would be footing the bill. It should also be noted that Disney and its affiliates pay about 86% of the district’s property taxes currently. EPCOT A hearing is scheduled for next week in the federal lawsuit against DeSantis and the CFTOD.
