Valentine’s Day in Disney World is WAY more than flowers, chocolate, and gifts. Connections Cafe & Eatery in EPCOT Valentine’s Day in Disney World is about LOOOOOVVVEEEE. Wait…who are we kidding? Valentine’s Day in Disney World is ALL about the snacks. Which we love. So close enough. We’re busy trying ALL of those snacks, too, including a Valentine’s Day shake, a Strawberry Delight cookie, and more. Well, we’re back with a NEW Valentine’s Day snack, but –SPOILER ALERT — this one wasn’t much of an upgrade. The Valentine’s Day Baumkuchen from Connections Café is a Chocolate and strawberry-flavored tree cake with chocolate icing coated on the outside mixed with sprinkles. So what exactly IS a tree cake? Well, it’s a cake made on a spit. Chefs brush on even layers of batter while rotating the spit over a heat source. Each layer browns before a new layer is poured on. When the cake is sliced, you can see the layers, which resemble the rings of a tree that’s been cut. It resembles tree rings Now this isn’t the first baumkuchen we’ve had here, but we’ll warn you that it’s not our favorite. However, it is a super cute dessert. You can taste the chocolate coating on this, but that chocolate layer is more like what you’d find on a donut dipped in chocolate, rather than a ganache coating like we had on the Chocolate Baumkuchen from here. That was our first disappointment. It’s pretty You can also only taste a hint of strawberry in the cake layers, which we found to be kind of dry. The sprinkles only add a cute festive flair, but they don’t do much for the flavor. However, if you’re looking to try it for yourself, you can grab it for a limited time in EPCOT for $5.99. Disney’s got a new hotel that just opened up in Disneyland! Pixar Place Hotel We’re talking about the Pixar Place Hotel! This new hotel is ALL about Pixar movies and has SO MANY fun movie details for those die-hard Pixar fans. So, let’s not waste another second and give you a tour of the rooms! So, as we mentioned, everything at the Pixar Place Hotel is Pixar-themed, and you’ll see motifs of some of your favorite Pixar movies throughout the hotel. Pixar Place Hotel The hotel also has a brand new restaurant, including a flagship restaurant on the first floor, Great Maple, which is a franchise that is a Southern California favorite. Great Maple You’ll also find a new grab-and-go coffee and breakfast spot, Sketch Pad Cafe. Sketch Pad Cafe For those who want to lounge by the pool, Small Bytes has drinks and…well…small bites. Small Bytes The pool also got a massive upgrade — this entire area is SO cool now. Pixar Place Hotel pool Have a look at the exercise area, too! Exercise Area But we’re here to show you one of the new Pixar-themed rooms at Pixar Place Hotel! So let’s have a look at one of the premium rooms in this hotel. Premium Room First off, here’s the view from the entryway. View from the entryway In the entryway, the first thing we find is the closet. Closet and extra pillow/blanket Then we find a small coffee nook complete with an ice chest. Did you notice the Pixar ball coasters? Coffee nook It’s stocked with everything you need for your morning brew! Coffee nook supplies There’s also a mini fridge below the nook. Mini fridge On the opposite side, you’ll find the bathroom. Bathroom There’s definitely a lot of white in this bathroom room around the single sink and lit mirror… Bathroom sink and mirror … and it has open shelving underneath to stow away your personal items. Open shelving underneath Across from the sink, you’ll find the shower… Shower … which also features a detachable shower head, and the toilet is between the sink and shower. Toilet You have to love the artwork. Bathroom artwork Coming out of the bathroom, you’re greeted by two raised beds (with all the Disney/Pixar touches!) Bedroom Everything from the character mural above the headboard… Have a look at the mural above the beds! … to the decorative (Pixar ball) pillow… Look at the Pixar-themed pillows … to the hidden details in the linens really bring this room together! Check out these details in the fabric! Not only are the room views great, have a look out the window as well! Window The sofa folds down to reveal a single sleeper bed… Sleeper bed …and just above it, you’ll find some of the most recognizable Disney/Pixar characters in the framed artwork. Sleeper bed Going back to the beds for a moment, you find each side has its own reading light… Reading light …and also a floating shelf with easy access to an outlet. Floating shelf And, to round out our tour you’ll find the T.V. mounted on the opposite wall facing the beds… T.V. and table … with a few drawers underneath it, a coffee table book all about The Art of Pixar. Disney has had a rough go of it at the box office lately! AMC Theaters Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and more were considered flops, but with more releases scheduled for the theaters and Disney’s lineup of streaming services, there’s a lot to look forward to in the next few years. And today, we got a BIG announcement about an upcoming Disney film! Disney has just announced the cast and release date for The Fantastic Four coming soon from Marvel Studios. The movie will officially premiere on July 25th, 2025! ©Marvel Not only that but you won’t believe this star-studded lineup: Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play Ben Grimm (the Thing). The details of the story are being kept hidden for now, but we know that Matt Shakman (WandaVision, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) has signed on to direct with Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer writing the screenplay. We live in an age where things are deemed “cool” and trendy by the amount of times they pop up on a For You page. Mickey and Pals at Cinderella Castle Yes, I’m talking about TikTok. While ever-changing social media trends have their cons, I LOVE them most of the time. Why? Well, because these trends highlight and spread positive topics, activities, hobbies, and MORE. Thus, more and more folks are able to appreciate those things and maybe even try something new. Social media is one of the ways that we share our love for Disney World, and we automatically love it when others do the same, as long as it’s done in a respectful manner. Well, social media (TikTok especially) has caused EPCOT to sort of be cast as the Disney Park that doesn’t necessarily give Disney vibes — meaning its for everyone. You’ll never guess which aspect of EPCOT non-Disney adults find the most appealing. Yes, it’s drinking around the world! Grabbing a cocktail or alcoholic bevi from each of the countries in World Showcase isn’t anything new. However, TikTok has spread the alcoholic adventure to the For You pages of avid Disney-goers and first-timers alike. EPCOT While visiting EPCOT or simply scrolling on TikTok from your couch, you’ll see “Everything I Drank at EPCOT” plogs (that’s photo vlog), “Drink Around the World With Me” videos, and even some classic OOTDs (outfit of the day videos) and fit checks as people embark on their Journey into Inebriation. We’re coming to the end of the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts. That means the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is just around the corner! 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival The 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival begins on February 28th, just in time for spring! While Disney hasn’t announced the menus for this year’s festival, we have been noticing not-so-little clues that the festival is almost here. If you wander around EPCOT, you might notice a few new additions to the park. World Celebration and World Showcase have received some giant, new characters and even some new buildings! Several new topiaries have hit the park! Woody and Bo Peep! Woody and Bo Peep are hanging out with some letter blocks, while Buzz is guarding the galaxy at Mission Space. Buzz near Mission Space As you enter the World Showcase and head toward Norway, you’ll spot an adorable troll! Troll in Norway Right next door at the China pavilion, you can see a couple of cute pandas rolling around. Pandas And if you keep going to Germany, you can visit the Snow White topiaries with the princess and Dopey! Snow White and Dopey Near the Canada pavilion, you’ll spot our animal friends from Bambi. Bambi Next to Bambi, is Thumper and the cute skunk, Flower. A topiary named Flower is practically perfect, don’t you think? Thumper and Flower But the topiaries aren’t the only new things in EPCOT. Festival booths are popping up in World Celebration Gardens! The new CommuniCore Plaza and CommuniCore Hall in World Celebration will become festival headquarters, according to Disney. So seeing booths showing up in the gardens may be a sign that we’re steps closer to that coming true. For now, we have one booth, but we’ll be interested to find out if more will be joining it. Uber and Lyft drivers in Orlando and throughout many other major cities across the U.S. are striking today, February 14th, which is typically a very busy day for rideshare companies since lots of people have plans for the holiday. Lyft pick-up zone Drivers are striking to protest several issues, including what they are calling “poverty wages,” as they claim that Uber and Lyft are taking more and more of the cut from customer payments. The Orlando Sentinel reported that about 100 Uber and Lyft drivers in Orlando are on strike today. The drivers listed a few different problems that they are protesting: “poverty wages, fears of being unfairly deactivated from the app, and unsafe working conditions.” The Sentinel stated that “many drivers in Orlando and elsewhere are expected to continue working despite the Wednesday job action.” If you’re traveling to Disney World today and usually use a rideshare to get from the airport to the parks, you may experience some delays, but it likely will not affect your trip too much. Orlando International Airport One full-time driver who works for both Uber and Lyft told the Sentinel that drivers only receive about 30% of customer payments. He said, “We’ve tried to let [the companies] know that we need at least 70% for the drivers and 30% for Uber. We don’t have benefits. We pay for the car, for the gas, for the maintenance…so now we need to do something all together.” Lyft sign A spokesperson for Uber said that the impact of the strike will be minimal. She told The Washington Post, “The vast majority of drivers are satisfied — earnings remain strong, and as of last quarter, drivers in the U.S. were making about $33 per utilized hour.” Lyft’s spokesperson also commented on the strike, stating that Lyft drivers made, on average, $30.68 per hour before expenses and $23.46 after expenses. The company has also committed to giving its drivers at least 70% of weekly rider fares after external fees (Lyft). Rumors at Disney World spread about as fast as they did through middle school locker rooms. No joke. Tiana’s Foods Water Tower A rumor we’ve heard a lot recently is regarding an all-new restaurant that’s coming soon to Magic Kingdom. You know, the one that’s being built at the former Splash Mountain? The one with walls up that say “Tiana’s Foods?” Yeah, we’re totally kidding. That’s just Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — the thrill ride that’s being built. The signage and water tower that’s located beside the ride construction confused a lot of folks, though. They thought that since they were seeing things pertaining to food, that the construction was for a restaurant. Plus, Disneyland’s new Tiana’s Palace restaurant didn’t help this confusion. Well, Disney has officially added some new details that help clear the air. On February 13th, we noticed that some new signage had been placed around Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Firstly, there’s a new mural situation, which features Louis the alligator. The sign helps a lot, as it features the ride’s name. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does sound more like a ride than “Tiana’s Foods.” We can see where the confusion came from. The new mural! It also features the opening date — Summer 2024! This is much sooner than we expected. That’s not all that’s new, though! There are several elements that have been added that allude to the story that the ride will tell visitors. If you don’t already know, the ride’s story takes place after the final scene of Princess and the Frog. Tiana has achieved her dream of opening a restaurant, and even owns her own food complex. (Thus the reason why “Tiana’s Foods” signage is everywhere!) We can’t wait! Tiana’s Foods Complex is located on a large salt dome, which is what the “mountain” is. Anyway, the ride takes place during the Mardi Gras season, and Tiana is planning a HUGE celebration. She ends up needing a few extra elements to make the party a hit, and you have to travel with her and her friends through the bayou to make sure Mardi Gras is a success. Now, there are elements of Mardi Gras surrounding the construction! We saw this “book your bands” signage that alludes to the idea that folks are preparing for big parties. It’s Mardi Gras season! There is also a sign that says “Louis is on his way to the party,” and says to join the parade by passing in front of the umbrella or instrument for a photo. This is referring to the mural, which can totally be used as a photo op. Is it also a hint at a photo op that can be found inside the queue later on? Louis is on his way!!!!! We’ll just have to see. We’re always monitoring construction in the parks and we’r always on thee lookout for more Disney News. Make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop. When something reopens at Disney World, the natural response is to be ecstatic…so why don’t we feel that way? Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney World recently announced a reopening date for 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa after a nearly four-year closure — but the announcement came with a catch. When the restaurant reopens on April 10th, 2024, it will feature a new menu and different characters. The change came with quite a bit of backlash from our readers and it has us worried about the potential reopening of a different character dining experience. Trattoria al Forno, an Italian eatery at Disney’s BoardWalk, is currently open but its Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast has yet to return. With the news that 1900 Park Fare is about to change (whether or not the change is for the better remains to be seen), we can’t help but worry that Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast will look different when it returns. Trattoria al Forno Before the pandemic in 2020, Trattoria al Forno offered a character dining breakfast experience with Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast. The character roster included couples from Tangled (2010) and The Little Mermaid (1989): Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Ariel, and Prince Eric. Rapunzel at Trattoria al Forno Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast was very popular and offered an upscale character dining experience that would be greatly welcomed upon return. At this time, no return has been officially announced, but the Disney page does continue to reiterate that the experience is temporarily unavailable so we have to assume it will return. As most of the Disney World restaurants and character dining experiences slowly return, our anticipation for the reopening of Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast only heightens. We miss you Ariel! If and when Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast returns to Trattoria al Forno, we have to wonder if it will look the same as it did when it closed. Disney may replace the characters with more contemporary ones, more convenient ones, or characters totally out of left field. It’s also possible Trattoria al Forno will make changes to the menu, but that’s inherently a risk at any time for all the Disney World restaurants. Rapunzel and FLYYN RIDER. ALL CAPS! It’s also possible Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast will reopen just as it was, with the same couples it had before! Disney has made no official announcements and no indications so what happens next is a total guess! Getting privacy in Disney World is difficult. Typhoon Lagoon This is especially true if you’re hanging out in the parks with hundreds of other guests or relaxing at your hotel pool with, you guessed it, tons of other people. If you want to spend an entire day having fun at a water park on property, you can check out Blizzard Beach currently, but it’ll be closing soon for refurbishment and Typhoon Lagoon will reopen in its place. There IS a place in Typhoon Lagoon where you can find some much-needed privacy and have a great, relaxing day. But is it worth the hefty cost? At Typhoon Lagoon, which is reopening on March 17th, 2024, if you’re looking for some relative privacy and comfort, you can book a Beachcomber Shack. These are private cabanas that can accommodate up to 10 guests (12 if you’ve booked a Deluxe Shack) and provide you with a comfortable spot to hang out when you’re not riding water slides. Menu And don’t worry, your attendant will bring whatever you order to you! We loved Gabby! We definitely took advantage of all the snacks and food, and as you can see below, everything was organized and neat, and the dishes came with plenty of sauces to share. Disney snacks at Typhoon Lagoon Booking one of these shacks takes away all the stress of finding seating during your water park day, or being worried that your important documents, phones, etc. will be stolen. Locker Advanced reservations are highly recommended for Beachcomber Shacks, but if you’d like to inquire about same-day availability, head to Singapore Sal’s when you arrive at the water park. Book your Beachcomber Shack when the park reopens here! But are the shacks really worth it? It depends! If you’re looking for a super relaxing, worry-free day, they might be totally worth the extra cost. But don’t forget that there’s a lot to do at Typhoon Lagoon and in Disney World in general, so if your goal is to ride all the water rides and explore other parts of the park, then you may not have time to enjoy the private shacks to their fullest potential. If you’re only staying at Typhoon Lagoon for part of the day, you might want to reconsider this purchase as well, as the shacks are rented for the full day. Counterfeit Disney World tickets can be a problem for guests. Magic Kingdom If you’ve ever accidentally bought a fake Disney World ticket, you may have found that it doesn’t work once you’re at the gate. There is a long list of common ticket scams, but that will soon be a problem of the past. A new patent filed by the company may ensure that the tickets you’re buying are real. According to The Orlando Business Journal, A new patent filed under Disney Enterprises Inc., a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, is for “Systems and Methods to Produce a Physical Article that Provides Admission Authorization to an Event Which Correlates to a Digital Asset from a Temporary Wallet.” Basically, you’ll need a real ticket, and fake tickets won’t work. Tickets, please! Disney is looking to use blockchain technology to authenticate payments, which will make their tickets digitally guaranteed. The technology will write the terms of the transaction right into lines of code that cannot be tampered with. This will give you confidence that your tickets are real and will be able to be used in the parks. Disney World Theme Park Ticket Cards According to the patent description, you will still be able to print a physical ticket for yourself, as well. This new technology could potentially put an end to fake ticket distribution by providing authentication of your real tickets. Tiana ticket Until the new technology comes out, the best way to know you’re buying real Disney World tickets is to purchase them directly from the Disney World website or at the gate. If you are a member of the military with proper ID, you can purchase discount tickets at your local MWR or at Shades of Green Resort. However, you will need proper identification at the park gates at Disney World. Shades of Green Be on the lookout for ticket scams, and ensure you are purchasing authentic Disney tickets to prevent issues at the gate. Hopefully, this new technology will help alleviate the problem of fake tickets in the future. We’re always on the hunt for something NEW to find around Disney World. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Some days, we find something that particularly piques our interests. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been keeping a dirty secret — and by “dirty secret” we just mean that Starring Rolls Cafe has been sitting empty for seven years with nothing indicating Disney had any plans for the space. Until now, that is! Starring Rolls Cafe closed in 2017 much to the chagrin of us and many other Disney fans. Cast Members weren’t told what the location would reopen as, or if it ever would. Even seven years later, we were left wondering about the future of this space — especially as the sign was still there, taunting us. But, something has changed at Starring Rolls, and we’re kind of excited about it. Starring Rolls Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Disney has removed the sign for Starring Rolls Cafe! The umbrellas also no longer feature any signs of branding to this former quick service location. Why are we so excited about this? Well, hopefully, it means that something new will be coming in its place! As for now, we haven’t seen any other signs or indications about what might be coming, but we won’t rest until we find out. The sign is gone! We recently got the menu for a new snack spot opening over on Grand Avenue in Hollywood Studios, so maybe this spot is next on the list for an update. Ice Cold Hydraulics — Opening Soon! Luckily, there are plenty of incredible spots to grab a bite to eat around Hollywood Studios. Some of our favorites are Woody’s Lunch Box, Hollywood Brown Derby, and Ronto Roasters in Galaxy’s Edge! I’ve stayed at just about every Disney hotel there is out there. But seriously, these new rooms BLEW ME AWAY! ©Disney Disney just shared a sneak peek at three specially-themed signature suites, and my jaw is on the FLOOR. Disneyland Paris is home to two wonderful parks — Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park. But the resort is also home to some amazing hotels, such as the Disneyland Hotel, which recently underwent an AMAZING transformation after being closed for many months. We’ve gotten to look inside the hotel to see some of these changes, but now we’re getting a new look at some of the suites, and just WOW. Inside this hotel, there are THREE specially themed Signature suites Disneyland Paris has highlighted — one for Frozen, one for Beauty and the Beast, and one for Sleeping Beauty — that are absolutely gorgeous. The Beauty and the Beast Suite is located in room 2323 and features some incredible details from the film. ©Disney The bed has a gorgeous and elegant red canopy draped over the top of it… ©Disney …and the artwork right behind it comes from one of the most memorable moments from the animated film! ©Disney The Frozen Suite is located in room 2329, and you’ll be stepping straight into the magic. ©Disney The canopy above the bed here is silver and white, perfect to match the ice and snow, and the artwork behind it is Elsa working her ice magic. ©Disney Elsa and Anna both are featured too on a set of doors that bring you further into the room — we love it! ©Disney Lastly, the Sleeping Beauty Castle Suite is located in room 2338. ©Disney Inside this room, you’ll find amazing details like a suit of armor, and Sleeping Beauty’s dress that LIGHTS UP!
