The time is almost here! The EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival starts SOON! Figment Topiary at the 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts The festival, which runs from February 28th through May 27th, celebrates spring with some beautiful topiaries throughout EPCOT, as well as the Garden Rocks concert series, and more! However, you know us — we’re in it for the FOOD, and we’re excited that Disney has now revealed all the food booths for this year’s festival. So here is every single food booth you’ll find at this year’s EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival. Start making those plans now! Over in Germany, Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market is back this year, along with Brunchcot, which is all about — BRUNCH (pro tip: get the Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites). The Citrus Blossom is back with all its citrus flavors, along with EPCOT Farmers Feast, which will have three different menus throughout the festival’s run. ©Disney Florida Fresh will be offering up the flavors of, well, Florida, while Fleur de Lys will return to the France Pavilion with one our favorite drinks, the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush. You’ll also find Hanami in the Japan Pavilion, while The Honey Bee-stro Hosted by National Honey Board brings back our beloved Chicken and Waffles. Meanwhile, in Mexico, Jardin de Fiestas is bringing an all-new menu in 2024. ©Disney La Isla Fresca has a plant-based menu, while Lotus House brings back some Asian favorites. We can’t wait to dive into the Spicy Chicken Gumbo again at Magnolia Terrace, while Northern Bloom brings back the Chocolate Maple Whisky Cake. Grab a Dole Whip at Pineapple Promenade. Meanwhile, Primavera Kitchen has a completely new menu this year. ©Disney Refreshment Port will be part of the festival again this year, too, with a brand new Poutine. Swirled Showcase will be putting in its first appearance at this festival, but it’s been around since last year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. A new flatbread is on the menu at Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina, while Trowel & Trellis Hosted by IMPOSSIBLE Foods will add a new dessert this year: Chocolate Mousse Terrarium with matcha crumble and chocolate soil. ©Disney Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Carts will have some special drinks prepared for the festival, while a brand new funnel cake comes to The Funnel Cake Stand. A fruit parfait with Dole Whip will be the featured star at Refreshment Outpost. The Land Cart Hosted by AdventHealth is also getting in on the action with a few new snacks and the Florida Smoothie (it’s a POG juice smoothie, folks!). The Land Cart You’ll find a Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich at Connections Cafe and Eatery, but don’t worry because the Orange Bird Leige Waffle is returning, too. Sunshine Seasons is getting a Strawberry-Mango Slushy. Sunshine Seasons Finally, you’ll find new beverages at the Canada Popcorn Cart, as well as the United Kingdom Beer Cart. Have you ever wandered into a place and felt like you really shouldn’t be there? Yeah, we have too. This Disney World restaurant makes us feel exactly like that! ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios ABC Commissary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios makes us feel like we’ve wandered backstage and shouldn’t be there! It is, what we believe to be, Hollywood Studios’ hidden gem when it comes to dining. When stacked up against Woody’s Lunchbox, the newest Roundup Rodeo BBQ, and even Mama Melrose, you’d think ABC Commissary doesn’t stand a chance: but it does and then some! ABC Commissary is a quick service restaurant at Hollywood Studios located to the left of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway when facing the attraction and near the Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant. ABC Commissary This restaurant feels like you’re on the backlot of a movie and have stepped into the cafeteria of a movie set! It almost feels illegal to sit in the seats and stare at all of the memorabilia adorning the building; We feel less like guests and more like movie extras! We’ve had mixed feelings about ABC Commissary in the past, so we’re back to try out some new items we haven’t tried before and see how our feelings have changed! But how do you feel about it? If you’re not sure, we’ve got all of the details to help! Atmosphere We love how close ABC Commissary is to everything! In a decently centralized location, you can get to Batuu, Toy Story Land, and Mickey & Minnie’s without trekking across the park! When you head inside you’ll see lots of seating, palm trees, and a wide open ordering counter. There is still mobile ordering available at this location but you can also go inside and order with a cashier! We Teach You How To Mobile Order Here! Once you’ve got your food you can choose a seat in one of the two large dining areas on either side of the counters when you walk in. You can also choose to sit outside which is what we did when we visited! Now time for what you came here for, the food! Food There’s a decent variety of food on this menu! Adult entrees have a nice mix of things for everyone, even plant based eaters. ©Disney Side options are pretty versatile as well! ©Disney Kids have four options to choose from! ©Disney Don’t forget dessert and drinks! ©Disney They also have alcohol options as well! ©Disney Drinks Starting off with drinks, we chose the Strawberry Lemonade Slushy for $6.49! The frozen slushy is made with Minute Maid Lemonade and is a delicious balance of tart and sweet. To be honest, we were scared at first, as the last time we had this we thought it was too sweet. This time, it was the perfect drink to cool down with on what was a really hot day in February! We thought the drink was just sweet enough to not be overwhelming and the tartness of the lemonade helped cut through the sweetness even more. Be sure to drink it fast though, it melted for us within mere minutes! Food We chose to try the California Burger for $13.29! We thought it was important to try a plant based option and it did not disappoint, it was actually our favorite thing on the menu that we tried! This burger is a plant based patty with grilled peppers and onions served with a Sriracha mustard and “mayonnaise” ketchup blend. It receives your traditional lettuce and tomato and we chose the steak fries as our side option. Everything about this item was delicious. The patty was flavorful and juicy, which came as a shock to us as we were expecting something drier. The Sriracha mustard was just spicy enough to elevate the spices of the burger and bring out the flavors of the grilled vegetables. The fries were standard, and while a little on the dry side, it was nothing that a little dipping sauce couldn’t fix. The burger was truly the stand-out of the meal and we’re still thinking about it! Any plant-based eater will love this dish. While you may be disappointed in the fries, opt for another option. Our next meal that we chose was the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese for $11.99! This is not your typical grilled cheese, with a toasted sourdough topped with buffalo chicken, monterey, cheddar, provolone, and cream cheese served with a buffalo sauce! We chose the arugula salad as our side. We did not care for this meal. The bread was extremely dry and the buffalo chicken was stringy, which was a little off-putting. We thought the flavors didn’t meld well together and were overall just a little disappointed with this dish. The arugula salad won us over and definitely became the star. While a little oily, the cranberries and pecans were a delicious touch. We know that this dish is a fan-favorite and we typically love eating it! We think it may just have been a one-off meal and don’t think that our thoughts on this dish should be the end-all-be-all of the sandwich. Given we typically love this grilled cheese, we definitely suggest trying it for yourself, you may end up really liking it! We finished off our meal with what we think is a really delicious and delectable dessert! We tried the mint chocolate chip cheesecake for $5.79. This dessert is a chocolate cheesecake topped with a chocolate ganache and whipped mint cream topping. This is one of the best desserts we’ve been fortunate enough to have. We thought the chocolate cheesecake was rich but not rich enough to be sickeningly sweet. The crumb bottom was soft enough to meld with the cheesecake base but offered enough texture to not be one-note. The inside was smooth with a nice soft mousse like texture to it. Cheesecake is hard to not have become lumpy and this was incredible and impressive. The whipped topping was delicious and not frosting which was a pleasant surprise! If you don’t love chocolate, you’d probably not like this but if you’re a mint fan like us, this is for you! Overall If you want a quick, but versatile selection of meals, this is the place for you! We always enjoy our meals here at ABC Commissary but if you’re looking for something elevated and table service, skip out on this place. Sometimes, things happen on a Disney World vacation that are completely out of your control! Magic Kingdom We talk a lot about what to do when things go wrong during your Disney World vacation and what to pack to set you up for a successful day in the parks, but we know that even with a LOT of preparation, you can still run into problems. We’ve rounded up a list of things that could easily take your day downhill…until you realize there may be a chance to FIX those pesky problems! You’ve planned and calculated, and you may even have a spreadsheet (or several) outlining every minute of your Disney World trip in advance. However, sometimes, that’s just not the way the cards fall for you during your trip. Hollywood Studios Crowds Let’s take a look at 5 different scenarios that could lead to major problems if you’re not aware that there’s a potential course correction out there for them! No Dining Reservation? Try for a Walk-up Reservation! It can be one of the most disappointing feelings when you can’t get the reservation you had your heart set on. Those popular restaurants fill up QUICKLY. But there might be another solution! Ask about walk-up availability! Plenty of things can happen before your Disney World trip ends that could free up some last-minute reservations. Not every Disney World trip goes as planned for everyone; you never know when (or why) someone may cancel a reservation. Continue to check the My Disney Experience app or ask about walk-ups available at your preferred restaurant and see if someone else’s loss could be your gain! No time for a sit-down meal? Mobile Order! Don’t think you’ll have time to sit down for a big meal or even stand in line for that matter? We’ve got just the trick to teach you! Try mobile order If you have a decent idea of when you’re looking to stop to eat and know that in advance, you may be able to place a mobile order and set a time to pick up your meal that will work with your plans. This could save you crucial time and keep you from waiting in long lines while also picking a time that works best with your schedule (bonus points to you if you’re able to strategize a time to eat that’s not during peak times)! Your first preferred transportation goes down? Try an alternate! Hey, we get it — it’s not the ideal situation, and things happen. You might be in “the most magical place on Earth,” but that doesn’t mean that transportation doesn’t break down or close from time to time. The Skyliner is CLOSED Chances are, when this happens (such as the weather affecting the Skyliner or the monorail experiencing delays), Cast Members will be around to assist you in finding what your next nearest transportation service will be. Most of the time that will be bus transportation, however, each situation independently will determine the options available to you at that moment! Ride breaks down and you need to be evacuated? You’ll probably get a Multi-experience Lightning Lane for another ride or try to ride the same ride later. While we’re on the subject of things not working, it’s worth mentioning that it happens to the rides, too! From time to time, you could experience attraction closures and delays that can affect your plans while visiting Disney World. When this happens, what are your next steps? Oh ya know, just walking the ghost dog while we wait Well, the most plausible outcome is you’ll be escorted or ushered by Cast Members safely off of the ride or out of the line and brought to a waiting Cast Member. Then, you’ll likely be offered a Multi-experience Lightning Lane that can be used at several other attractions throughout the park (but it is also likely that it won’t work at a few of the park’s attractions, too). Click here to learn more about Multi-experience Lightning Lanes Miss the 7AM virtual queue? Try again at 1PM! Another frustrating scenario you can encounter is not being quick enough to join the virtual queue when it opens early in the morning. When this happens, you could be tempted to completely give up…we’re here to encourage you NOT to do that so quickly! Try again at 1PM Hear us out — if you’ve missed the initial window to grab a virtual queue for a ride, there’s another virtual queue drop the same day to try again. Those that weren’t able to secure a virtual queue spot earlier in the day will be able to try again at 1PM as long as you’ve scanned into the preferred park before you attempt again. We’re also reminding you that if you’re trying for more than just you to ride, this will only be possible if EVERYONE who intends to ride has already scanned into the preferred ride’s park before the 1PM drop (or you could be riding by yourself)! This week, Disney’s affordable housing development project passed an important hurdle. ©Disney Back in 2022, Disney announced plans to earmark about 80 acres of land for a new affordable housing development near the Disney World theme parks. We’ve been keeping an eye on updates as the planning process has continued, and this week, Disney narrowly won an important endorsement for the project. On Thursday, Disney’s proposed affordable housing project won a narrow endorsement from Orange County’s planning and zoning board. The victory comes despite objections from its neighbors which dampened enthusiasm for the needed below-market homes. ©Disney The advisory board voted 4-3 to recommend Orange County commissioners support a land-use change needed to build the 1,410-unit project on about 80 acres near State Road 429 and Hartzog Road. The vote in favor came despite concerns from residents in the nearby area about the project’s impact on roads, schools, and emergency services. ©Disney In response, Disney promised to hold another community meeting to address any concerns before county commissioners decide whether to recommend the proposal next month. The proposal would then go to state authorities for a mandatory review. Disney’s developer for the project, The Michaels Organization, is also looking into reducing the number of units, as suggested by the planning board chairman, Nelson Pena. ©The Michaels Organization In regard to the project, Disney representative Tajiana Ancora-Brown said, “The Michaels Organization will build, own and operate this development. Disney won’t profit from it. We plan to set a 75-year lease on the land to ensure affordable housing remains available to Orange County residents on this property for decades to come.” Unlike a number of other affordable housing projects, Disney’s development is not government-subsidized, and the company is not seeking impact-fee waivers. ©Disney According to current projected timelines, construction on the housing community could begin in October. The community is planned to open in phases, with the first units expected to open in 2026. We’ll continue to be on the lookout for more developments as the planning stages continue. Y’all — it’s almost time! Yes, the EPCOT Festival of the Arts is still going on. BUT The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival will start SOON — on February 28th. 2023 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival In other words, the NEW festival will be here before you know it. We’re already seeing some of the gorgeous topiaries and kiosks for the festival going up in EPCOT. We also have the full list of performances for the Garden Rocks concert series. But most importantly, we have the FULL menus for all the food booths! Now that we’ve had a chance to look over those menus, though, we’re even more excited because some of our FAVORITE snacks are back! Let’s just say we can’t WAIT to be reunited with this food! Chicken and Waffles at The Honey Bee-Stro We are so ready to dive back into the Chicken and Waffles at The Honey Bee-Stro. It’s made with crispy honey-brined chicken and honey sweet cornbread waffle with whipped honey butter and spicy honey. The chicken is always crispy and juicy, and that cornbread with its bits of jalapeno in it offers a nice savory touch. Chicken and Waffles at The Honey Bee-stro If you eat ANYTHING at the festival, this should be it. See the Honey Bee-Stro’s full menu Orange Sesame Tempura Shrimp at The Citrus Blossom Next up is the Orange Sesame Tempura Shrimp at the Citrus Blossom. It was one of our best of the fest picks last year, and we can’t wait to check it out. The shrimp are lightly fried, so they’re not too greasy, and we love the sweet sesame chile orange sauce that’s bursting with orange flavor. Orange Sesame Tempura Shrimp This item does have a bit of heat, but we think it’s mild. You also get a decent amount of shrimp, so it’s shareable (but only if you want it to be). View the entire menu for The Citrus Blossom Orange Blossom-Saffron Cake at Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina Yep, we’re suckers for citrus flavors, but the Orange Blossom-Saffron Cake from Tangierine Cafe is unique. The cake has almost a nutty flavor, almost like an almond paste. The thick raspberry syrup on the bottom, though, just took it up a notch. Orange Blossom-Saffron Cake The cake itself is light and fluffy, but yeah, we love that this is something just DIFFERENT. Coconut Tres Leches at La Isla Fresca The Coconut Tres Leches cake is a vanilla cake soaked with oat, almond, and coconut milk topped with toasted coconut. We’ve had this cake two years in a row now, and we’re ready to add a third year of eating this delightful concoction. Coconut Tres Leches The coconut flavor doesn’t overpower everything, and we’ve found the cake to always be moist but not soggy from the coconut milk. This one has been a favorite since it debuted three years ago, so we expect we’ll love it again this year. See the full menu at La Isla Fresca Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites at Brunchcot Y’all. Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites. That’s it. That’s the post. No, really, these little fried bites with cream cheese frosting and bacon are what make breakfast the most important meal of the day. You get loads of filling with cinnamon and sugar inside a flaky pastry. What more could you want? Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites with cream cheese frosting and candied bacon Forget breakfast? We’ll eat these for lunch and dinner and as a snack, too. Check out Brunchcot’s full menu Spicy Chicken Gumbo at Magnolia Terrace We’re just going to tell you now that we’re picky about gumbo, but the Spicy Chicken Gumbo at Magnolia Terrace has won us over two years in a row. It’s made with chicken, andouille sausage, and BEN’S ORIGINAL Long Grain & Wild Rice. Now we’ve had spicier gumbo, but there’s still a kick in it with wonderful flavor. Spicy Chicken Gumbo The rice is chewy, the chicken is soft, and the flavors are fiery. Is it a lot on a hot Florida day? Maybe. But we’ll gladly suffer the consequences anyway. View the full menu at Magnolia Terrace La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush at Fleur de Lys Some of our favorite drinks are returning, too, including the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush at Fleur de Lys. It’s made with vodka, Grey Goose L’Orange, St. Germain liqueur, and white and red cranberry Juices. We will admit that this drink is usually pricey, but we think it’s worth it. La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush at Fleur de Lys It’s light and sweet (but not TOO much so) and SO refreshing. If it’s a hot day in EPCOT, this drink will cool you down. It’s also VERY photogenic because it’s PINK. See the full Fleur de Lys menu Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade at Pineapple Promenade Is it weird that we go to a Pineapple-themed booth and get a drink with flavors OTHER than pineapple? Well, we don’t care because the Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade is a STAPLE at the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, and for a good reason. It’s just sweet enough and refreshing, with loads of flavor. Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade What makes this drink so special, though, is that it’s non-alcoholic, so the whole family can enjoy it. We’ve got an update on a new theme park that’s in the works! ©American Heartland There are a few new theme parks in progress around the U.S., including Universal’s Epic Universe and another new experience in Texas. But Universal isn’t the only one getting in on the action. Several months ago, we learned about American Heartland, a $2 billion theme park and resort project located in northeast Oklahoma that’s being created by former Disney Imagineers. And now we’ve got a new update on the project’s expected timeline! According to initial renderings, the resort will span 1,000 acres, including a 125-acre theme park roughly the size of Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, a water park, a large RV park with cabins, a dinner theatre, an amphitheater, a swimming pool, a clubhouse, and more. ©American Heartland The park’s development team includes over a dozen former Disney employees with experience in special effects, technical design, entertainment, and more. ©American Heartland The theme park will feature six lands themed to Americana: Liberty Village, Great Plains, Bayou Bay, Bit Timber Falls, Stony Point Harbor, and Electropolis. ©American Heartland It was previously announced that the new park would open sometime in 2026, but now we have a more specific timeline for the project. American Heartland theme park is currently slated to open in the fall of 2026. ©American Heartland Construction is happening in stages and the Three Ponies RV and Campground, which will consist of an estimated 750 RV spaces and 300 cabins, is expected to be completed sooner. The RV park and cabins are scheduled to open in the spring of 2025 as part of the first phase. ©American Heartland Once construction is complete, the theme park’s team estimates it will attract more than two million out-of-state visitors to Oklahoma each year. ©American Heartland We’ll continue to be on the lookout for more updates on the construction progress and other new details about the theme park, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest news! EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts is coming to an end, which means the Flower & Garden Festival is almost here! Bambi Topiary This spring festival runs from February 28th through May 27th and will feature tons of delicious foods from a variety of food booths. Full menus have recently been announced, but here’s why you may want to WAIT and go to the festival later this year. At the EPCOT Farmers Feast food booth (called outdoor kitchens during this festival), you’ll find an entree and dessert available for tasting. However, this menu won’t stay the same throughout the entire festival — it’s going to change THREE TIMES between February and May! Farmers Feast (2023) The first menu available is the Early Bloom Menu, which is available from February 28th through March 30th. It’ll feature a NEW Veal Tenderloin and a Strawberry Rhubarb Upside-down Cake. ©Disney The Strawberry Rhubarb Upside-down Cake is a returning treat this year! In the past, we thought that the sweet strawberry flavor was fresh and light and the cake was moist. We’re hoping this one delivers again this year. Strawberry Rhubarb Upside-down Cake The second menu will be introduced on March 31st and run through April 27th, and that’s the Springtime Menu. This menu will include a NEW Seared Scallop with tomato risotto and a NEW Blueberry Buckle with lemon crème fraîche. ©Disney And finally, the third menu is the Summer Solstice menu, available April 28th through May 27th. You’ll be able to grab a Seared Pork Tenderloin and a Peach Galette to try. Both of these are NEW menu items for 2024. Look out for that Peach Galette — it’s made with ginger vanilla whipped cream. YUM! ©Disney Depending on which of these menus sounds the most appealing to you, you may want to wait to experience the festival so you can experience your favorite. Park passes are no longer required for most ticketholders, park hopping is back to normal, and the Disney Dining Plan is available again. On top of that, we know that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening this summer and Country Bear Jamboree is getting an all-new show. So what’s in store for the month of March? It’s time to find out! Here’s a peek at what you can look forward to in March at Disney World! Reservations Open for 1900 Park Fare Have you heard the news? 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is finally reopening! The character dining spot will reopen on April 10th, 2024. ©Disney However, reservations will open for the restaurant on March 5th. This is a popular restaurant and we highly recommend grabbing reservations if you want to dine here! Typically, dining reservations open 60 days prior, so if you are going to Disney World later this year, be sure to book them then. 1900 Park Fare The restaurant will look a bit different than before with changes to the menu (don’t worry — the Strawberry Soup is here to stay!) and new characters including Aladdin, Mirabel, and more. Why Disney Fans Are So Mad About the Changes at 1900 Park Fare in Disney World Kali River Rapids Reopens Kali River Rapids has been closed since January for its annual refurbishment over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But the water ride is set to reopen in mid-March! Currently, hours are starting to show up on the Disney World website on March 16th. Kali River Rapids During the winter months, many water rides close and undergo a routine refurbishment. It’s usually colder in Florida so not too many guests are looking to ride water-based attractions! Luckily, this will open just in time for spring break crowds and the heat. NEW Permit Reveals UPDATES on Lengthy Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Closure in Disney World Typhoon Lagoon Reopens as Blizzard Beach Closes For the past few years, Disney World has not had both of its water parks open at the same time. Blizzard Beach has been open since November 6th, 2023 but it will be closed as of March 17th, 2024 for refurbishment. Blizzard Beach Water Park On that same day, Typhoon Lagoon will reopen to guests! This water park is home to a huge wave pool and several waterslides. Learn more about the Typhoon Lagoon Reopening! Easter Sunday On holidays, the Disney parks tend to go all out. Easter Sunday is no exception which lands on March 31st this year! Magic Kingdom typically has an Easter parade down and you can meet and greet with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny. How cute! We could go on for days about our love for Disney merch and souvenirs — specifically popcorn buckets. ©Disney These little guys can be quite the hot topic and really cause some chaos so when we realized that Disney’s put out quite the collection of these we really questioned if we were ONLY 2 months into the year! Disney isn’t always known for putting out some knock-out merchandise but so far this year they seem to have upped their game in one particular category. Popcorn Cart Ok, actually it may have started a bit before the calendar turned to 2024, but since January, Disney’s released some pretty stellar popcorn designs. Let’s take a closer look at everything that’s released so far! Tiana Popcorn Bucket We’re unofficially calling this one the “Tiana” bucket because it’s got a bright green lid and handle and has a lot of Tiana (and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure) elements to the design. She’s not the only character sported on this popcorn bucket though! Disney World souvenir popcorn bucket This bucket replaced the previous souvenir design that you can pick up as the general souvenir popcorn bucket around various popcorn carts all over Disney World. You’ll also spot Simba, Mickey, and a few other park icons around the outside wraparound design! Figment Festival of the Arts Popcorn Bucket The first EPCOT festival of the year brought us an imaginative popcorn bucket! This spectacular design featured the Imagination! pavilion complete with Figment inside! Figment is inside! It also wowed us when we realized it lit up in various colors and came stuffed with colorful candy-coated popcorn. Mickey & Minnie Balloon Popcorn Bucket Valentine’s Day is a celebration that Disney chose to go all out for this year and released a brand new popcorn bucket featuring our favorite couple! THE popcorn bucket to have right now The iconic Disney Mickey balloon design was coated in a sparkling pink background with a deeper pink silhouette of the dynamic duo being the cute sweethearts they are! Chip ‘n Dale Basket Popcorn Bucket Spring is right around the corner already — can you believe it? And with that, you guessed it, ANOTHER popcorn bucket design! ©Disney Disney has released Chip ‘n Dale hanging out in an Easter basket design as the popcorn bucket we can expect to hit the parks next. Lunar New Year Popcorn Bucket Whoever at Disney decided to go this hard for the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dragon, deserves all the kudos! ©Disney A Mushu popcorn bucket was released in early February exclusive to the celebration. The round design features Mulan’s trust guardian front and center (deserving of all the attention headed his way this year), But, before you get too ahead of yourself, you need to know you’ll only be able to snag this one in Shanghai Disneyland for now. Groot Popcorn Bucket We’ve got a feeling that once you lay eyes on this one your popcorn bucket game will never be the same! Groot in his more child-like form is featured in one of the newest designs to be released by Disney. ©Disney This incredible bucket features Groot jamming out to (probably) Starlord’s awesome mixtape with an old-school cassette and headphones with his roots firmly planted. But we can’t deny that the character interactions there are also SOME OF THE BEST and include a lot of rare characters. Then there are the special events, like the Disneyland After Dark Nites, which are specially ticketed events with specific themes. Well, one upcoming Disneyland After Dark Nite gives you a chance to be in a Disney parade! No, REALLY! We just got a TON of new details about the upcoming Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite and Disney is going ALL out for the event. The event dates are April 16th, 18th, 23rd, 25th, 30th, and May 2nd, 7th, and 9th, 2024, and you’ll absolutely want to try to get tickets for it because here’s the deal: if you dress up in a Star Wars costume, you could be invited to join a special cavalcade with Mickey and Minnie and march down Main Street, U.S.A. ©Disney After, you’ll pose for a group photo in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, which will be “illuminated with galactic projections.” Um…be right back…we gotta’ book a trip to Disneyland. Some other fun things you’ll be able to do at the event include eating some exclusive Star Wars-themed snacks, seeing a ton of characters, attending a lightsaber instructional, shaking your thang at a dance party, and more. Plus you’ll get to ride a ton of rides. Bonus? If you wear a costume, you can also get some AMAZING night photos in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge So you’re probably wondering when you can book tickets for the events. Tickets go on sale for Inspire Magic Key holders on February 20th. All other Magic Key Holders can buy tickets on February 21st and 22nd. Tickets for the general public go on sale on February 23rd. Note that Disney has updated the virtual queue for its ticketing system this year so you don’t have to physically stay online the whole time you’re waiting. Instead, you can choose to be notified by email when the time arrives for you to purchase your tickets. It’s no secret that Disney’s virtual waiting room system for major ticket drops leaves much to be desired! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge In the past when waiting to purchase for Oogie Boogie Bash or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and other events of that kind, we’ve spent HOURS in virtual waiting rooms and queues. Many times, we’ve seen the Disney World or Disneyland Resort websites crash before we got our chance to purchase. But now, for a new event at Disneyland, the company is making an effort to IMPROVE the purchasing experience. Coming soon to Disneyland Park is Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite! It’s one of several after-hours events at the park this spring, and we just got more details about what will be offered for this one in particular. ©Disney First of all, you should know that Star Wars Nite will take place on April 16th, 18th, 23rd, 25th, and 30th, as well as May 2nd, 7th and 9th, 2024. Tickets for the event will go on sale on Tuesday, February 20th for Inspire Key holders, no earlier than 9AM PT. Then, on February 21st and 22nd, all Magic Key holders will be able to make their purchase from a limited number of pre-sale tickets. On Friday, February 23rd, no earlier than 9AM PT, tickets will go on sale to the general public. Tickets are limited and subject to availability. ©Disney But we’ve got some good news about the ticket sale! For the first time, if you’re waiting in the online queue to purchase Star Wars Nite tickets, you may have the option to be digitally notified when it’s your turn to purchase. To use this feature, once you’re in the queue, choose the “notify me” option and enter your email address. You’ll receive an email once it’s your turn — from the time your turn begins, you’ll have ten minutes to use the link to return to the site. It’s almost time! EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival We’re starting to see the topiaries popping up around the park for this year’s EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival and we’ve even spotted a few new buildings that might tie into this year’s festival around World Celebration Gardens. But Disney just released menus for the festival and there are over 70 items that will be NEW this year! Let’s take a closer look! This year’s EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival will feature dozens of returning treats, eats, and sips however, that doesn’t mean you know the festival as well as you think you do! An important event is coming up soon for Star Wars fans! Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite is returning in 2024 with eight event dates this year. ©Disney Disney previously announced the dates for Star Wars Nite, but now we know when the tickets will go on sale! If you’re hoping to attend one of these events, make sure you mark down this date. Disneyland After Dark will take place on April 16th, 18th, 23rd, 25th, 30th and May 2nd, 7th, and 9th, 2024. Magic Key holders will get the first chance to buy pre-sale tickets. Inspire Key holders can get pre-sale tickets on February 20th, 2024. All Magic Key holders get to buy pre-sale tickets on February 21st and 22nd. Note that only a select number of tickets will be included in this pre-sale. Tickets go on sale for the general public on Friday, February 23rd. Disneyland After Dark sign from 2023 Disney noted that there is a new feature coming to the ticket sales process for this event: the “notify me” feature. Basically, you’ll get in the ticket waiting room and then Disney will send you an email notification when it’s your turn to purchase tickets. So you’ve probably seen or heard about the runDisney events in Disney World. runDisney merch These events happen throughout the year and bring hundreds of thousands of runners to the resort. Each event has a theme, and you’re very likely to see runners dressed up in fun running costumes to match the theme (or just dressed as their favorite Disney characters. Well, ANOTHER running event is happening in Orlando this weekend — and let’s just say people will be wearing FAR less than that. According to Fox 35, runners will be descending upon the streets of Orlando this weekend in nothing but their undies! Don’t worry, though, because it’s for a good cause. It’s an annual event called Cupid’s Undie Run and it takes place on February 17th. This run happens all over the U.S. and supports those affected by Neurofibromatosis (NF), which is a condition that causes tumors in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. ©Cupid’s Fun Run However, Cupid’s Undie Run isn’t like most running events. It’s strictly for fun and it’s not timed. Participants don’t have to wear race bibs and there are no winners. It’s strictly to help raise funds for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Instead of loading up on carbs, participants start the day drinking and dancing. Afterward, they participate in the mile-long run. There’s an “epic dance party” after, and yes, runners are encouraged to do all of this in their underwear (although the organization does request that it’s kept PG-13). Costumes and onesies are also acceptable runwear. Wine & Dine Merch If you’re interested in joining in, the event starts at noon on February 17th with the run beginning around 2PM and ending at 4PM. Several days ago we brought you the news that a skating performer for Disney On Ice had been injured and taken to a local hospital. ©Disney on Ice The remainder of the performance continued as scheduled, and Feld Entertainment, the parent company of Disney On Ice, offered a note of gratitude for its fans, “Disney On Ice appreciates the well wishes from our fans as our team member recovers.” Now, we have an update on the skater’s condition. According to People, skater Anastasia Olson, who was portraying Belle at the time of her injury, is now classified as being in “satisfactory condition” per officials at Hennepin County Medical Center (Minneapolis, MN), where she is being treated. When the skater initially arrived at the hospital, she was in “critical but stable” condition, which was later downgraded to “serious condition.” Anastasia Olson in 2015 ©Jared C. Tilton/Getty via People The hospital’s website states that a “satisfactory condition” means she has an “excellent or good prognosis” and is likely conscious with stable vitals. Feld Entertainment had shared shortly after the incident that, “The skater who portrayed Belle was injured while performing a lift during a pair skating part of the routine and fell. The beast stumbled into the side during a lift and dropped Belle on the ice. It seems like lately when Mama Kelce (aka Donna Kelce, mom to NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce) takes to social media, the whole world perks its ears up. So when she posted about her recent stay at Disney World, we found ourselves instantly curious. Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club We already knew the Kelce Family seemed to have a fantastic time celebrating with each other while Jason played in the Pro Bowl in Orlando, but the magic didn’t seem to stop there. Mama Kelce also took some “time out” to drop a hint as to which Disney World hotel is her favorite to visit! It seems like the Kelce Family is just like us — Disney adults who just can’t get enough of the fun! In fact, a recent social media post from Mama Kelce makes us very sure of it. We’ve spotted the Kelces in the Disney World park enjoying their time together but some may have wondered just where exactly the Kelce Family chose to call “home” during their visit. ©Donna Kelce via Instagram On Donna Kelce’s Instagram, she recently reached out to thank Disney World for a great time staying at one of their hotels. In the post, Mama Kelce wrote, “Thank you @waltdisneyworld for always making me feel at home.” The post included a photo from what appears to be their nighttime view from the room they were staying in… ©Instagram … and if you needed further proof, Mama Kelce included a picture of Disney’s welcome screen proudly displaying their family name. ©Instagram While this is pretty standard practice for all of the Disney World hotels to include a welcome message to your family during your stay, it certainly puts to rest disputes that they may have just simply visited for a night and weren’t actually there as hotel guests. It’s probably safe to say that this is the Kelce family’s favorite Disney World hotel from their description and photos. Disney’s Yacht Club And who could blame them! We’re huge fans of the deluxe Disney World hotel and their iconic freshwater pool, Stormalong Bay, which is the only Disney World pool with sand at the bottom AND a lazy river! Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are sister resorts that allow hotel guests staying in one of the two to use either side of the hotel amenities, restaurants, lounges, and shops. This is NOT a drill, y’all!!!!!! Flower & Garden Festival It’s no secret just how much we love Disney World food here at DFB, and one of our favorite food events is coming up soon — the 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival! We’ve seen topiaries and more pop up in the park already, and Disney just dropped the full menus for the festival, too. But you guys, there’s something new coming to Disney World for this festival and we can’t get over it! The 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival kicks off on February 28th! This event will last until May 27th, and Disney just dropped the full list of menus for all the food booths. Over 60 new items are coming to the festival this year which is exciting in and of itself, but there’s one in particular we’re particularly excited about! EPCOT is in full bloom! A new DOLE WHIP is coming to Refreshment Outpost for the Flower and Garden Festival! It will be a “Seasonal Fruit Parfait with sweet chili sauce and DOLE Whip Mango,” and it’s plant-based! This item will also be part of the Garden Graze, but more on that below. This sounds like a super interesting take on DOLE Whip and we can’t wait to try it! ©Disney We also learned that the Garden Graze will be coming back and found out just which items we’ll have to eat to win a PRIZE during the festival.
