August 2024 is shaping up to be a MASSIVE month for Disney. D23 D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will be held this year on August 9th through the 11th in Anaheim, California, and we are incredibly eager to attend! The fan expo draws crowds from all over the world and features appearances from Disney execs, celebrities, Imagineers, and more as the company dishes on upcoming entertainment, theme park developments, and more. This event sheds a ton of light on Disney’s plans and, with Disneyland Resort’s expansion already in its infancy, we’re curious to learn more about a different expansion at Disney World. One of the major questions we’ve been seeing from Disney fans all over the world is, “What’s going on with Magic Kingdom’s expansion?” Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Right now, we’re circling Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at 7PM on our calendars, as that’s the Disney Experiences Showcase at Honda Center. This D23 event is when we’re expecting to hear MAJOR parks news. Covering every single Disney Park, Disney Parks Chair Josh D’Amaro will lead this event and it’s likely he’ll give us some big reveals. We’re hoping one of those big reveals is what comes next with Magic Kingdom’s proposed expansion. Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom ©Disney In April, Disney confirmed filing a permit for its Magic Kingdom expansion, so at the very least we know this expansion is tangible and in the works. In the past, Disney gave a few updates about the plans, including possible Coco, Encanto, and/or Disney Villains-themed lands and attractions coming to Magic Kingdom. We’ve even heard the expansion called “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” because it will likely take place behind the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad While the specifics have yet to be confirmed, we’re hoping to get some juicy details in August. Disney executive Bruce Vaughn has teased that the expansion plans for Magic Kingdom are the “largest ever” and on a similar scale to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Disney hasn’t confirmed the land themes yet, but it has tossed around some attraction ideas. Two years ago at this event, the idea of Encanto coming to Magic Kingdom was publicly brought up. Chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios Jennifer Lee said, “What if you could walk into the Madrigals’ casita…What if Mirabel is your guide…What if you could step up to a door and discover your own magical gift?” While certainly tantalizing, rumors have picked up that Encanto will actually be part of a different expansion at Animal Kingdom instead. Expansion plan with designated markers More expansion clues were found earlier this year when some possible details were discovered in the 2023 Reedy Creek Improvement District’s long-term land use plan. The plan outlined changes from its last land use plan in 2020 and included a new designation for “marginally unsuitable” land — land, such as wetlands, that has constraints for development. In the 2023, over 1,700 acres of land fit that description. ©RCID Disney World would need permits from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District that allow construction in those areas to develop marginally unsuitable land. Not-so-subtly, the area north of Frontierland in Magic Kingdom — the same area where expansion would likely happen — has been declared marginally unsuitable. ©RCID While that may seem like a bad thing, it’s actually a vast improvement. Previously, the area was labeled “land considered unavailable for development.” It seems now the land, with approval from the District, is permitted to pursue development. Possible Villain Land Expansion Coming to Magic Kingdom All of these permits and speculations tie into Disney’s planned $60 billion towards the Parks, Experiences, and Products sector of the company over the next decade. Included in that commitment, of course, is the Magic Kingdom expansion. While we’re still largely in the speculation stage, Disney can move fast when it wants to and we’re hoping that means D’Amaro and company give us some concrete details about the future of Magic Kingdom when they speak in Anaheim in August. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney We’ll be covering D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event live in August and will be sure to give you all the latest breaking news. When you visit the Magic Kingdom almost daily, you notice even the teeniest, tiniest changes around the park. New My Disney Experience app change? We’re on it! New menu update? We’re here to tell you all about it! No matter WHAT the change, it is our duty to pass along ALL the news — big and small. Main Street, U.S.A. Speaking of changes, we need to talk about a fun one we’ve been tracking lately. Over on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, several of those signature turn-of-the-century-inspired costumes have been changing. We’ve seen new costumes at multiple Main Street shops and other locations, and now we must show off ANOTHER new costume design. OK, so first, we noticed the Emporium Cast Members all dressed up in their new looks. The new designs feature a vintage-inspired color palette with several fun pieces. If you look closely, you may notice the Florida state flower, the orange blossom; the Missouri state flower, the White Hawthorn Blossom; and the California state flower, the poppy! The costumes even come with a cameo pin, which features a lily flower — inspired by Walt’s wife, Lillian Disney. New Emporium Cast Member costumes Over at the park entrance, those Cast Member costumes got a refresh as well! Love the new look! Additionally, we noticed some new Cast Member costumes at the Harmony Barber Shop! Here’s a look at the new design. It’s simple and classic! New outfits Well, that brings us to today — May 26th — when we stopped by the Main Street Confectionery. Behold the newest costumes to arrive on Main Street! Ta-da. what do you think? NEW costume alert! These costumes have a bright, cheerful blue and yellow color palette! Don’t worry — those signature hats stuck around after the changes. They’re a classic part of the look, after all. Here’s another look at the new designs! So, what do you think? Which new design is your FAVORITE? We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for more new costumes. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has come a long way in 35 years. Hollywood Studios Throughout that long history, we’ve seen rides come and go (Goodbye Great Movie Ride, Hello, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway). We’ve seen two NEW lands added to the park: Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. However, some classic parts of Hollywood Studios have been around FOREVER, including some classic food items. Well, we’re going to tell you how to make two of those foods RIGHT NOW. We’re starting with an entree from ’50s Prime Time Cafe, and although you don’t have to physically go there, we’ll still tell you to get your elbows off the table! We’re about to make Mom’s Traditional Meatloaf, which is always one of those foods that gives us the warm fuzzies. Mom’s Traditional Meatloaf Mom’s Traditional Meatloaf Serves 8 Ingredients 2 pounds ground beef 1 pound ground pork 4 large eggs, lightly beaten 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs ½ cup finely chopped onion ¼ cup finely chopped green bell pepper ¼ cup finely chopped red bell pepper 2 tablespoons plus ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, divided ½ teaspoon coarsely cracked black peppercorns, or to taste ½ teaspoon coarse salt, or to taste ½ cup ketchup 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard Directions Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly oil two 8½-inch by 4½-inch loaf pans. In a large bowl, combine the beef, pork, eggs, breadcrumbs, onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, cracked peppercorns, and salt just until well blended; do not overmix. Divide the meat mix in half, shape into 2 loaves, and place in the prepared loaf pans. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature taken with an instant-read thermometer is 155°F. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and the remaining ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. Brush the meatloaves with the ketchup mixture and bake for 10 minutes longer. Remove the meatloaves from the oven and let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Cook’s Note: Meatloaf can be garnished with extra sauce. Double ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce recipe and reserve half for drizzling on meatloaf slices. The next recipe is for a classic dessert from the Hollywood Brown Derby. Yep, we’re talking about that ICONIC Grapefruit Cake. Now, you can make it at home! Grapefruit Cake with Cream Cheese Icing Grapefruit Cake Serves 8 Ingredients 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 large eggs, separated 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup water 3 tablespoons grapefruit juice 1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar Cream Cheese Frosting 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest 1 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar Topping 1 can (16 ounces) grapefruit sections, drained well Grapefruit syrup For Grapefruit Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9 X 2-inch round cake pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper and lightly butter the paper and sides. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk egg yolks, oil, water, grapefruit juice, and lemon zest until smooth in a medium bowl. Whisk in the flour mixture. Beat the egg whites and the cream of tartar just to stiff peaks with an electric or stand mixture. Gently fold the egg whites into the yolk mixture with a rubber spatula until just blended. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched lightly in the center. Invert the cake, still in the pan, and cool on a wire rack. Run a spatula or a table knife around the edge of the cake and carefully remove from the pan. For Cream Cheese Frosting: Beat cream cheese in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment on high speed until light and fluffy. Add the lemon juice and the lemon zest. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar and beat until well blended. Keep covered until ready to frost cake. To Serve Halve cake horizontally with a serrated knife. Spread 1/3 to 1/2 cup frosting over top of first layer to with about 1/4 inch of edge. Top with several grapefruit sections. Place second cake layer, rounded side up, on frosted first layer. Frost top and sides with remaining icing. To serve, garnish with remaining grapefruit sections and desired amount of grapefruit syrup. Enjoy! And stay tuned to DFB for more. Allow us to recount a story for you. The scene is Disney World — Magic Kingdom, more specifically. There’s a family headed to Peter Pan’s Flight. But along the way, a little one gets separated from their parents. What happens next? You can probably guess. Cast Members Naturally, the instinct when a child gets separated from their parents is to freak out. Disney World is a big place, and there are a lot of people walking through those gates. But then again, this is Disney World, and there are TONS of specially trained Cast Members ready for this kind of situation. So, if you think you know what happened next, you might be surprised. Now, back to our story. The little one may have wandered off, but luckily, a Cast Member quickly spotted the child by themselves. The Cast Member stayed with the child, talked to them, and kept them busy while other Cast Members were able to locate the child’s parents. Turns out the child in our story never shed a single tear — the entire problem was resolved before they even realized their parents were gone. And THAT is the magic of Disney Cast Members. The incredible Joel! Disney has this process down to a science. In fact, they use a secret code to explain this situation without raising the alarm and alerting the public. A Signal 70 code is issued when a child is missing. Cinderella Castle As a regular old park guest, this isn’t some kind of special lingo you need to know about. But if you want to know how Disney keeps such a well-oiled machine — even in situations like this — well, let’s just say we have a few former Cast Members on the team who are familiar with the Signal 70 process. Slinky Dog Dash Here’s the secret to one of the most important parts of the process of handling a lost child: the child is never lost. You will NOT hear a Disney World Cast Member use the word “lost” in front of a little one. You may hear some Cast Members mention a missing parent (notice how it’s flipped to the adult, not the child?), but most times, Cast Members try to avoid drawing attention to the fact that there’s even a problem. After all, no one wants to upset a kid in Disney World! Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Luckily, these kinds of incidents don’t happen often. But in the event that a family member is separated, Cast Members know exactly what to do. And if you want a little extra peace of mind, we can help with that, too. Our biggest tip, if you’re traveling with kids, is to show them a Cast Member’s nametag so they know who to look for if they need help. Cast Member nametag You can also write your phone number on your child’s MagicBand or buy an Apple AirTag. We have a TON of different ways to use Apple AirTags HERE. Click here to learn more! Yes, the thought of your little one getting lost — even for five minutes — is terrifying. But, like we said, Disney has a team of Cast Members who know how to handle these situations safely and efficiently. Magic Kingdom Although it’s easier said than done, stay calm and find the nearest Cast Member. They will be able to help! Planning a trip to Disney World is SUPER exciting, but packing for it can be a challenge! ©Getty Images Even seasoned Disney World pros are always finding new ways to improve their packing game. Speaking of that, we’re at the parks everyday, so we wanted to share some tips with you that have been super handy and even some that we’ve only just learned! Let’s go! As we said, we’re going to go over some of our packing hacks (some we literally just picked up) so that you can elevate your packing game! Foldable Tote Bag Don’t sleep on this one. A foldable tote bag is a game-changer. It’s perfect for carrying your souvenirs, extra snacks, or even wet clothes after a water ride. ©Amazon Also, once you’re done, it folds up neatly and takes up practically zero space in your backpack! View on Amazon Packing Cubes We love packing cubes. They are crucial for keeping your suitcase organized (you don’t want to see how ours used to look before packing cubes!). ©Amazon As you can imagine, they make categorizing your clothes and accessories so easy, which in turn makes finding what you need without rummaging through everything just so much easier. You have to start using them in every suitcase! View on Amazon Travel Clothesline Sure, you’re right. Most Disney hotels have that in-shower drying line, but what happens when you need to hang more? That’s when bringing your own portable travel clothesline comes in clutch. ©Amazon It’s perfect for drying swimsuits or when you need extra drying space. Also, we say all the time that Florida is a rainy place, so more likely than not, you’re going to need to dry something when you’re at Disney World. It’s best to come prepared. View on Amazon Ziploc Bags Oh, the humble Ziploc bag. If you didn’t know, they’re not just good for sandwiches and snacks. No, they are also a travel necessity. ©Ziploc You don’t know how many times we’ve used them as emergency waterproofing for our phones, wallets, keys, and other valuables. And, to be sure, they’re also great for keeping snacks fresh. View on Amazon Deck of Cards or Small Games Sure, Disney World is the land of entertainment, but what about when the unexpected happens like a downpour or power outage? ©Amazon We learned that packing a small deck of cards or other small games can be a lifesaver if you’re stuck indoors when one of those unexpected challenges happens. Also, if you make sure the games are small, they’re not going to take up much room in the suitcase. View on Amazon Trash Bag for Dirty Clothes A trash bag? Okay, so it doesn’t have to be a trash bag per se. You can bring a collapsible laundry bag if that makes you feel better. The point is that it’s 2024. We’ve got to stop just putting our dirty laundry on the floor in the hotel room. ©Amazon If you have trash bags with you, you can collect those clothes and keep them separate from anything that’s clean in your suitcase on your return trip! You’re welcome. View on Amazon Clothespins for Curtains If you’re anything like us, you need the room to be completely dark in order to get good sleep, and even Disney hotel curtains can have gaps that let in unwanted light. ©Amazon We found that if you pack a few clothespins in your bag, you can use them to keep curtains closed tightly at night, which will have you sleeping like a baby in no time. View on Amazon Individual Outfit Bags If you’ve got your whole crew with you on the trip, you know how crazy it can get when everyone’s trying to pick out their outfits in the morning. Save yourself a TON of headaches and when you’re packing, go ahead and organize outfits by day using individual bags. ©Amazon That way, each morning, all you’ll have to do is to simply grab a bag and you’ll have everything you need except shoes. This makes getting ready quick and hassle-free. View on Amazon Portable Chargers in Carry-On Maybe you already do this, but let’s just say that we had to learn the hard way that you should always pack your portable chargers in your carry-on. FuelRods Not only will this ensure that said chargers don’t get damaged, but you’ll also have them handy to charge up your devices on the go. View on Amazon Wear Socks at the Airport Apologies beforehand as this one might be a bit triggering to germaphobes out here. This one is an absolute must! You have to wear socks at the airport, especially since you’ll need to remove your shoes during security checks. ©Amazon This will keep your feet clean and comfortable, and you’ll be able to avoid the unpleasantness of walking barefoot on the airport floor. View on Amazon Light-Up Travel Mirror Last up, you just need to invest in a light-up travel mirror. ©Amazon You know that lighting isn’t always the greatest for when you need to touch up your makeup or check your appearance. They’re typically compact and incredibly useful. View on Amazon Magic Kingdom Those are just a couple of the packing hacks we swear by (and some we didn’t learn until just now), and we’d love to hear about yours in the comments! Snacking around Disney World just so happens to be one of my favorite things to do. Spaceship Earth But, when it comes to EPCOT, there are so many different places to eat you might not know where to start! Luckily, you have a new food editor best friend — and I’m telling you exactly what you should always eat at EPCOT. Liege Waffle First things first — breakfast! Over at Connections Cafe and Eatery located in EPCOT’s World Celebration, we’re grabbing a Liege Waffle. At Connections Cafe, the Liege Waffle is made with brioche dough with pearl and powdered sugar. The Liege Waffle at Connections Eatery is made with Brioche Dough with Pearl Sugar, Strawberries, Whipped Cream, and Chocolate Sauce. Orange Bird Liege Waffle The waffle itself tastes a bit sweeter if you can imagine thanks to the brioche dough, and the combination of the strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce on the waffle from Connections Eatery might be what dreams are made of. Fish and Chips Get anywhere close to the United Kingdom Pavilion at EPCOT and you’re sure to smell the delicious, fried, scent of fish & chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop wafting into your nostrils. It’s enticing enough to pull me straight out of line for a pint (okay, almost!) Fish & Chips This spot only serves up one thing, and they do it well: perfectly crisped strips of fish with hearty fries thick enough to soak up malt vinegar and ketchup. The shop also serves Bass Ale and Harp Lager to enjoy with your dish — and really, what more could you need? Werther’s Original Gingerbread Salted Caramel Cookie Sandwich The Werther’s Original Gingerbread Salted Caramel Cookie Sandwich can be found at Karamell-Küche in the Germany pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase. If you are a fan of gingerbread, this snack is for you! One word: YUM! This treat is made with two soft gingerbread cookies held together with thick buttercream icing and Werther’s caramel inside. You’ll find plenty of gingerbread flavor in the caramel cookie sandwich, with two BIG cookies. The icing has a perfect consistency (even for this icing hater), and the combination of the caramel drizzle and the cookie is to die for! Popcorn You’ve got two delicious options to choose from when it comes to specialty popcorn at EPCOT, and over at the Canada Popcorn Cart, you’ll find Maple Popcorn. If you don’t see it, the smell alone will lead you there: popcorn with unmistakable sweetness. It’s truly an ideal combo. Popcorn But, Caramel Popcorn at Karamell-Küche in EPCOT’s Germany pavilion is absolutely irresistible as well. What makes this popcorn so snack-worthy is the combination of sweet, salt, and crunch. Caramel Popcorn…YUM! EPCOT is secretly a popcorn lover’s paradise! Pretzel Bread Pudding At Sommerfest in the Germany Pavilion, I love the Pretzel Bread Pudding. It’s made with leftover pretzels (like traditional bread pudding is made with leftover bread). It’s also topped with Caramel Butterscotch and a White Cream Sauce. Pretzel Bread Pudding The main flavors with this soft Pretzel Bread Pudding are caramel and cinnamon plus a few other baking spices — but the caramel is really the standout flavor here. The white cream sauce tasted kind of like a crème anglaise — it’s very subtle and perfect if you love sweet and salty combos. Seasonal Poutine The Refreshment Port is located just outside the Canada pavilion. There’s really one reason to come here: POUTINE. French fries, gravy, and cheese curds — what more can you ask for? Turkey Poutine: French Fries with turkey gravy, cranberry relish, and crispy onions Seasonal poutine is usually featured during the EPCOT festivals. This dish and its variations have put the Refreshment Port “on the map” for many guests, and these days you’ll often encounter a bit of a line for the popular snack. Literally Anything at Les Halles If you didn’t already know Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie was tucked away in the France Pavilion, you might miss it entirely — and that would be a tragic mistake. This bakery is full of delicious eats, both savory and sweet. You can get sandwiches, soup, salad, pastries, macarons and more. I like to order a bunch of different things and share them with my group (or just hoard them all to myself like the little snack goblin I am!) Les Halles At the end of the day, you might have different must-eat EPCOT treats on your list — and that’s okay! But, my opinions are never wrong, so keep that in mind too. Just kidding! There are many Disney Legends who have made our childhoods (and adulthoods) full of laughter and cheer. ©Disney Many celebrities, Imagineers, animators, and, of course, Walt himself have touched our hearts over the 100 years of the Walt Disney Company. However, there is one duo who may have impacted many Disney fans more than we even realize. Music is the heart of a movie. It can make you laugh, cry, or even feel scared. Sadly, one Disney legend, whose music has reached us since the beginning, has passed away. Richard M. Sherman was the brother of Robert B. Sherman, but the two were probably best known simply as The Sherman Brothers. The Sherman Brothers were the songwriters of MANY wonderful Disney films, but are especially known for their work on Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, and even the ever-popular song “it’s a small world.” ©Disney Sadly, Richard Sherman passed away on Saturday, May 25th at the age of 95. He died of an age-related illness. Richard Sherman and his brother (who passed away in 2012) received several Oscars, Grammy awards, and gold and platinum albums over the course of their careers. They were commonly known for working and creating songs directly with Walt Disney, often playing and singing together in his office. Until Richard’s passing, he was the only person left who was still allowed to play Walt’s piano. Walt Disney’s piano If Walt ever had a bad day or a bad week, Richard would visit him in his office and Walt would simply say, “Play it,” and Sherman knew what to do. Sherman would play Walt’s favorite song “Feed the Birds” while Walt sat and stared out the window and listened. ©Disney CEO Bob Iger stated, “Richard Sherman was the embodiment of what it means to be a Disney Legend, creating along with his brother Robert the beloved classics that have become a cherished part of the soundtrack of our lives. From films like Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book to attractions like ‘it’s a small world,’ the music of the Sherman Brothers has captured the hearts of generations of audiences. We are forever grateful for the mark Richard left on the world, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family.” ©Disney Pete Docter, the Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios, shared, “You don’t get songs like ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ without a genuine love of life, which Richard passed on to everyone lucky enough to be around him. Even in his 90s, he had more energy and enthusiasm than anyone, and I always left renewed by Richard’s infectious joy for life.” Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth; son Gregory and grandsons William and Matthew; daughter Victoria Wolf, son-in-law Doug Wolf, and grandchildren Mandy and Anthony. He is also survived by his daughter from a previous marriage, Lynda Rothstein, as well as her two children and three grandchildren. The life of Richard Sherman will be remembered for many generations to come, and we thank him for his timeless gift to all of us. His family is in our thoughts. It’s time to EAT! Typhoon Lagoon After Hours We’ve been checking out Disney’s H2O Glow After Hours event at the Typhoon Lagoon water park, and there’s a lot to do! You can hop on rides with shorter-than-usual wait times, meet characters, and visit the DJ dance party. But you’re bound to get hungry doing all of that partying, so let’s check out some of the food at this event! The H2O Glow After Hours Event takes place on select nights from May 25th through August 31st. It runs from 8PM to 11PM, but if you have a ticket, you can enter the park a little before the event, at 6PM. Tickets cost $75 or $85 (depending on the date), and Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members get a $15 discount. H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon At H2O Glow Night, you can get some snacks for FREE, including ice cream treats, popcorn, and some drinks. To find the snack carts with the free snacks, check the event guide map that you can grab at the front of the park when you arrive. You’ll find popcorn and novelty items at the following locations. Fred’s Scuba Shop Happy Landings Lowtide Lou’s Tropical Amity Outpost Complimentary soft drinks are available at the following locations. Leaning Palms Lowtide Lou’s Snack Shack Surf Doggies Tropical Amity Outpost Leaning Palms However, the free treats aren’t the only eats available. Some of the restaurants inside Typhoon Lagoon are open during H2O Glow Night, and they added some specialty menu items just for the event! We stopped by the Snack Shack for the Bathtub Float! It has DOLE whip pineapple and strawberry, green matcha tea soft-serve, and Sprite topped with whipped cream, popping boba pearls, cherries, and blue simple syrup in a souvenir bathtub. All food should come served in a bathtub, right?! You can pick up this snack for $16.49. First up, the burger! This one is a sweet burger, surprisingly! The bacon had a sweet coating, but it was crispy and chewy. The burger was good, but certainly not the best Disney World burger. The meat patty was thin, but the sauce and cheese helped it out. The jalapeño poppers are the star of this show! They’re hot and honestly, if they had served them by themselves we would’ve preferred just those. Jalapeño Popper Burger and fries Finally, the DOLE Whip pineapple hard cider float! This is a pretty heavy pairing. It’s basically a boozy DOLE Whip Float but we almost prefer the bubbly hard cider to the rum version. It’s closer to a true float with soda. It’s very pineapple, so if you don’t like pineapple, we don’t recommend this. We also noticed that the cider isn’t very strong. DOLE Whip Pineapple Hard Cider Float During H2O Glow Night, you can get on some popular rides with lower wait times because the capacity of the park is reduced during the party. Here’s a list of all the rides that are open during the party: Bay Slides Castaway Creek Crush ‘n’ Gusher Gangplank Falls Humunga Kowabunga Mayday Falls Miss Adventure Falls Storm Slides Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool Typhoon Lagoon Don’t forget to stop by the DJ dance party, too! IT’S TIME! We’re back again with a roundup of all of the new updates we got at Disney World this week. Welcome to Disney World! You might be wondering just how many things could possibly happen at Disney World in just a week, but the answer is A LOT. We’re at Disney World every single day keeping track of all of the changes — big and small. While we couldn’t possibly include all of these things in just ONE post, we can show you all some of our favorite updates. You ready? Let’s go! We’ll start over at Disney’s BoardWalk. Something NEW is at Cake Bake Shop! The Cake Bake Shop has been under construction for a while now, and progress has been a bit slow-going. However, during a recent visit to the BoardWalk, we spotted a HUGE update. Signs are up! Yep, the restaurant now has SIGNS up. The restaurant’s logo is designed in gold on a white background. Faaaancy! We spotted two large signs on either end of the building. They don’t look to be complete just yet, surrounded by unfinished supports. Based on the holes above the signs, we’re wondering if Disney will add lights to illuminate the lettering at night. The logo is here We love how they look and can’t wait for the shop to open! Click here to see what else is new at the Disney World hotels! We were EXCITED to see an EPCOT wall! we were walking by Dreamers Point in World Celebration and noticed that the walls there that had previously been covered are now UNCOVERED. That’s one more construction wall GONE. YAY! This is what it looks like now! New wall can be seen now! Here’s a close-up of what the walls look like. The design is VERY EPCOT, we think. It also looks like there are some speakers or something embedded into the wall — we see these little breaks in the design and underneath, it LOOKS like it might be speakers? Close-up However, that’s one more thing crossed off the list of the EPCOT transformation. The entire transformation will be complete when CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza open on June 10th. Click here to see what else is new in EPCOT The candelabra is BACK at the Haunted Mansion! Not long after the installation of the Hatbox Ghost in the Haunted Mansion attraction at Magic Kingdom, we noticed that the floating candelabra in the Endless Hallway scene was MISSING. Just last month, we were beginning to worry that change was permanent. Fortunately, we can gladly report that is NOT the case! Haunted Mansion Recently, we rode the Haunted Mansion and noticed the floating candelabra is BACK in the Endless Hallway! The floating candelabra is an optical illusion in the Haunted Mansion attractions at Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Park, as well as in Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris. The Floating Candelabra is BACK In the Haunted Mansion, the candelabra is carried by a ghost and seems like it is floating. This effect is created through mirrors and forced perspective. The mirrors give off the impression of an endless hallway while the candelabra is connected to a mirror and motor to create that floating effect. We’re SO excited it’s back! Click here to see what else is new at Magic Kingdom Of course, that’s not all that happened! There are plenty of things that happen every single day at Disney World. If you’re planning a visit to Disney World in June, here’s something to look out for! EPCOT There’s a TON of planning that goes into a Disney World vacation. From booking those must-have dining reservations to finding the perfect hotel for your family, there are so many things to think about! In fact, you might get so caught up in getting those big-picture things in place that you get caught off guard by unexpected mistakes. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with the heads-up! If you’re heading to Disney World this June, beware — you might be making the unexpected mistake of poorly planning your visit to EPCOT and Magic Kingdom! EPCOT Now, before you panic, don’t worry — we’re HUGE EPCOT and Magic Kingdom fans, and we’re not saying that you should avoid these parks in June. But there are several big changes and special offerings happening in both parks this June, so you’ll need to plan for them accordingly! CommuniCore Hall CommuniCore Hall and Plaza CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza are opening on June 10th, and we expect that the area around both could be busy because everyone is going to want to check out the NEW spaces, ourselves included! But there’s something else that could bring a lot of people to this area: CommuniCore Hall will also host a Mickey and Friends meet and greet spot. EVERYONE wants to meet Mickey, right? Mickey & Friends sign However, the best part of CommuniCore opening is that it’s another air-conditioned space where you can take a break from the heat. There will likely be quite a large indoor area where you can take a breather, cool off, and relax. Learn more about CommuniCore Hall and Plaza here New Encanto Show Okay, this one is for you Encanto fans. A brand new Encanto show is coming to EPCOT at the CommuniCore Plaza stage, which will be the first bit of entertainment to use this brand-new space. The show is called ¡Celebración Encanto! and will feature Mirabel and Bruno leading a sing-along of songs from the Encanto movie. ©Disney However, if you aren’t a big Encanto fan, you might want to steer clear of this area, as it’s likely to be popular with new entertainment being hosted there. Here’s more about ¡Celebración Encanto! V.I.Passholder Days If you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder, you’ll want to take advantage of V.I.Passholder Days, which run through June 6th. You’ll want to make sure to pick up your free Stitch Magnet at Creations Shop in EPCOT, as well as check out the exclusive Stitch Cake Cone available at Sunshine Seasons, also at EPCOT. Stitch magnet You’ll also find an exclusive Passholder lounge in EPCOT inside Restaurant Marrakesh in EPCOT! The lounge provides complimentary snacks and drinks, plenty of seats, and a special character meet and greet. Learn more about V.I.Passholder Days EPCOT isn’t the only park that will be opening new attractions in June! Magic Kingdom will also likely be busy in the coming month, so be sure to plan accordingly. A Brand New Ride So the most exciting thing to happen in June in Disney World is that a brand NEW ride will be opening in Magic Kingdom on June 28th. Yes, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will finally be ready to take you on an adventure through the Louisiana Bayou. Needless to say, you can expect BIG crowds in Magic Kingdom on opening day (and probably for a while thereafter). Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening in June! However, you might be seeing a lot of people heading to Magic Kingdom ahead of June 28th for early previews. Previews for D23 Gold members will be held on June 22nd, while Annual Passholders will get a chance to ride it early on June 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th! DVC Members will get their chance to ride on June 12th and 19th, while Cast Members can check it out on June 3rd and 7th, as well as on June 23rd and 26th. Magic Kingdom is going to be HOPPING! All the details about early previews for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure June is bringing a lot of excitement to Disney World this year, so we expect that things might be pretty busy in June and throughout much of the summer. Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie opened once again in Hollywood Studios on May 25th! Vacation Fun Even as we’re excited to see this popular theater reopen in the park, unfortunately, two other attractions remain closed in Hollywood Studios. However, it’s not just Hollywood Studios suffering from closures. Several other attractions around Disney World will also remain closed this week. Let’s take a peek at what will be closed during your visit from May 25th through June 1st! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed on January 8th, it won’t reopen until the summer of this year. Based on the Disney World app, we may see it opening again on July 27th, but that has yet to be confirmed by Disney. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Last year, when the ride closed around this time (on February 20th, to be exact), it reopened on May 26th. This year’s closure has been significantly longer, but we don’t know what work Disney has been doing on the ride. We can’t wait to find out later this summer! Something NEW Is Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios SOON! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Well, it’s official — Voyage of the Little Mermaid is permanently closed in Disney World. We had suspected this was the case for some time (as it hasn’t actually been open for a few years now), but now the permanent closure has been confirmed. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a NEW show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” This Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cheese HACK Just Changed My LIFE Luckily, even with these two closures in Hollywood Studios, there is still LOTS to do in the park. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Tower of Terror, Toy Story Land, and more remain open. Now, let’s hop over to other parks in Disney World to see what will be closed this week as well! Magic Kingdom Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Splash Mountain is permanently closed — this ride is being renovated to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! The new ride will be themed to The Princess and the Frog. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at night The ride in Disney World is set to open on June 28th! Annual Passholders, DVC members, Cast Members, and D23 Gold Members will all have opportunities to be among the first to ride the new ride. New details are being spotted nearly every day. New signs have been added to a couple of the stores near the ride! Critter Co-Op and Tiana’s General Store will be coming to Magic Kingdom. Critter Co-Op We have also seen Disney Imagineers test riding the ride! Now, that gets us super excited to see! Tiana’s testing Other subtle details have emerged such as a water lily on the new gate. The water lily is a nod to the movie the ride is inspired by. The queue is also starting to look really good, and we know there’s going to be a fun Mardi Gras celebration! We even recently spotted a door to Lari’s house. Pretty detail in the pavement We learned lots of new information about this ride, including a hint that there will be Splash Mountain Easter Eggs throughout the attraction! Along with the opening date, Disney has also recently shared a look at new characters coming to the ride. Are you excited to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Disney Shares NEW Sneak Peek at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Queue Details If you miss Splash Mountain or want to celebrate the new ride, you should check out our DFB t-shirts! We have a Splash Mountain Farwell Tour shirt… DFB Exclusive! …and a Tiana tee as well! Check out our new Tiana-inspired merch! You can shop both tees (and lots of other Disney merch) at our online store. Click here to shop our DFB merchandise store. Country Bear Jamboree Country Bear Jamboree closed on January 27th, 2024 for refurbishment. When we recently visited Magic Kingdom, we noticed that the sign for the show has now been covered up! Country Bear Jamboree, May 2024 Disney announced that a NEW show is coming to Country Bear Jamboree, with the bears learning an all-new act. The new show is set to open sometime this summer. With Country Bear Jamboree and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed, that leaves just Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Walt Disney World Railroad open in Frontierland. We’ve Got Country Bear Jamboree NEWS! Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that’s remained closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to work in Disney World, this could be it! 90% of Disney Fans Want To BAN THIS From Magic Kingdom EPCOT Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is still closed in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when it might reopen as a dining location. However, the restaurant kind of opened on May 1st. It will be functioning as an Annual Passholder lounge from May 1st through June 26th. Restaurant Marrakesh Even though we’re still waiting for the full restaurant to reopen, Annual Passholders will be able to enjoy the air conditioning, charging stations, and complimentary food and beverages. There may even be opportunities to meet “special friends” throughout V.I.Passholder Days, according to Disney. We still don’t know if it is permanently closed or if it could reopen as a restaurant, but we’ll take what we can get. We’ve NEVER Been So Excited To See a Wall in EPCOT Until Now Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach had its last open day on March 16th, 2024 before it closed for refurbishment. Blizzard Beach has nine attractions that we won’t be able to enjoy this week. Blizzard Beach Water Park While Blizzard Beach closed, Typhoon Lagoon opened on March 17th, 2024. The two water parks often rotate off and on for being open. Disney has not given a timeline for this new closure or how long Typhoon Lagoon will be open. We’ll be watching for any updates, though! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!! Fantasmic! is finally BACK at the Disneyland Resort! Fantasmic! After an absence from Disneyland Park that lasted over a year, Fantasmic! has returned with updated scenes, special effects, and more! Returning with the show are its dining packages — which we experienced firsthand! Come with us as we try out Rancho del Zocalo and watch Fantasmic! on its returning night! The dining packages for Fantasmic! include meals at one of three restaurants, Rancho del Zocalo, Blue Bayou Restaurant, and River Belle Terrace. They vary in cost based on the restaurant, but at Rancho del Zocalo, you’ll pay $35 per adult and $25 per child for lunch or dinner. The package includes a 3-course meal and reserved seating for one of the two Fantasmic! shows. So let’s get into the finer details of our meal and show! Rancho del Zocalo Atmosphere When you walk up to the restaurant, you’ll see signs directing you to where to check in for your Fantasmic! Dining Package and where you’ll order your meal. Time to grab your meal! Here you’ll find menus letting you know what’s available for kids and adults. You’ll be able to see your food prepared and plated right in front of you since Rancho del Zocalo is a quick-service restaurant! We can’t wait! Then you can grab a seat at whichever table you’d like and enjoy! Menu and Eats The 3-course adult meal includes the option of one entree — Potato Tacos, Chile Verde Riblets, Sweet and Savory Carne Asada, and Sweet and Spicy Shrimp Tacos. Each entree is served with radish slaw, cilantro-lime rice, Korean potato salad, and refried beans. Menus We grabbed the Sweet and Savory Carne Asada, which we thought had very tender, flavorful, and juicy beef. The marinade gave it a sweet flavor, reminiscent of bulgogi beef. It was cooked great, not too rare but not too dry or overcooked! Sweet and Savory Carne Asada While the cilantro lime didn’t have much flavor, it wasn’t bad. We didn’t taste too much cilantro — it mostly just tasted like Mexican rice with hints of lime. This might be a good thing to note if you usually don’t like cilantro. The refried beans weren’t anything special, just tasted like beans with a bit of cheesy flavor in some bites. We really loved the beef! We also tried the Sweet and Spicy Shrimp Tacos entree! Our reporter isn’t always the biggest fan of shrimp, but he liked these! The shrimp was fresh and flavorful, the texture wasn’t too soft, and it also had a little crunch at first. To us, these tasted more spicy than sweet, so if you don’t like spicy flavors we say skip these. There was a refreshing flavor from the cucumber and other vegetables that sort of balanced out the spice though. Sweet and Spicy Shrimp Tacos In both of these entrees, you could really taste the Korean fusion. In the beef, the sweet marinade flavor was sweet and tasted like bulgogi-style beef, the greens on top of the beef also reminded us of Korean food. And the cucumbers and other refreshing greens in the tacos gave us the same vibes. The spicy mayo sauce in the taco instead of salsa added to the fusion! We were fans! We also grabbed the Cortadilla, which is a moist cake that’s served chilled. The vanilla frosting was sweet, however there was only a thin layer of it. The actual cake also had a sweet vanilla flavor, and inside was fresh and sweet fruit jam. Cortadilla For the size of the entrees plus dessert and seating $35 doesn’t seem like a bad price! We would definitely recommend this experience if you’re looking to hit two birds with one stone. But perhaps most importantly, how was the new Fantasmic! show? Fantasmic! Experience While crowds were SUPER heavy for this first showing of Fantasmic!, we weren’t too worried, because we knew we had a spot reserved thanks to this experience. Fantasmic! Crowds We were brought to a great spot to watch the show! Everyone in the reserved section is required to sit, so there will be no standing or placing anyone on your shoulders. A great spot! We thought it was a fantastic place to watch the show, and we really enjoyed not having to crane our necks to see over anyone’s head. The show was great, even after a year-long hiatus! You can check out all the details of Fantasmic! on our post. Disney’s Fantasmic! Has FINALLY Returned Overall If you’re looking to make sure you’ve got a great spot for the show without stressing about getting there an hour (or more) early and are willing to PAY for that experience, we highly recommend this dining package! The meal was great quality and quantity to justify the price as well, and we had no issue seeing the show — plus, we got to rest our legs! Fantasmic! The other two restaurant options are table-service meals, so the prices of those packages are a little higher. If you want the experience of a nice sit-down restaurant plus the benefit of reserved seating for the show, those locations might be of interest to you. Plus, Blue Bayou Restaurant gives you a really cool view of Pirates of the Caribbean! Blue Bayou in Disneyland We’re so excited to see Fantasmic! back in action at Disneyland! Do you have a favorite Disney World hotel? All-Star Resorts We know you’ve got to really consider the budget when planning your Disney World trip, and we find that a lot of people choose the Value tier of the resorts. And there’s no shame in doing that since they still offer the same Disney World experience for a fraction of the cost of the Moderate or Deluxe tier resorts. For that reason, many choose to turn to the All-Star Resort hotels since they have budget-friendly prices and larger-than-life Disney theming. But before you book a stay at one of the All-Star Resort hotels, there’s one thing you seriously have to consider (and it’s not what you think)! Let’s talk about it! As we said, we’re talking about the All-Star Resort hotels with their budget-friendly prices and larger-than-life Disney theming. There’s one significant concern that many guests overlook, and surprisingly, it’s not the crowds. The real issue is transportation. Crowds Aren’t the Real Issue Yes, the All-Star Resorts are popular, and they can get crowded, especially during peak times like school vacations and special events. However, Disney pros know how to get around this. Crowds With a bit of planning, you can avoid the busiest times. For example, sporting events, which often bring large groups to the All-Star Sports Resort, are scheduled well in advance. If you check event calendars for ESPN Wide World of Sports, you can strategically schedule your Disney World visits to avoid those peak times. We also warn you here on the blog when there are large competitions coming up that will fill the hotels and make the parks more crowded, so subscribing to our newsletter is a great idea to keep up with those schedules! You can subscribe by clicking here! The Real Problem Is Transportation Sure, you can plan for crowds (like we said, do your research on the sporting events that come to Disney World that tend to bring in more people), but the bigger hurdle is actually getting to the parks themselves. You won’t find the Skyliner at the All-Star resort Unlike other Disney resorts, the All-Star Resorts don’t have access to the Skyliner, monorail, or boat transportation. You’re reliant on buses, which can get crowded, especially during peak hours. Only Having Buses For Transport Means… Long Wait Times: As we said, the buses can be crowded, especially during peak times, which can lead to long wait times. It’s not uncommon to wait 20 minutes or more for a bus, only to find it already packed when it arrives. Extended Travel Times: The All-Star Resorts are also located farther from the parks than most other Disney World hotels, which means you’ll have much longer travel times once you finally get on the bus. For example, a trip to Magic Kingdom can take upwards of 30 minutes (not including the time you waited for the bus). Inconvenient Transfers: Also, if you’re going to park hop, you need to be prepared for the inconvenience of transferring between buses. Like everything else, this can also add a significant amount of time to your travel. Disney bus So What Can You Do? If you’re set on staying at the All-Star Resorts, here are a couple of things you can do to make the most of your stay: Plan for extra travel time: Don’t underestimate how long it can take to get to and from the parks by bus. Be prepared to leave for the parks earlier than you might at other resorts. Utilize Disney World’s app: The My Disney Experience app allows you to track wait times, park hours, and more which can be a lifesaver. Use Ride-Sharing Services: If you want direct and faster transportation, you could consider using ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft. While this adds to your transportation costs, it can save you a lot of time, especially for those early-morning or late-night park visits. All-Star Movies For more Disney news, keep following DFB! We’re sure you’re aware of all the great festivals you can attend at EPCOT, and we bet you’re very familiar with the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, which is set to happen this year from August 29th through November 23rd. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin But did you know that there’s ANOTHER Food and Wine festival at Disney World? This one doesn’t even require you to buy a park ticket! It’s the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic, and dates for this festival have officially been announced. This year’s Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic will run from November 15th through November 16th. Although this event doesn’t require a park ticket, it is a ticketed event, but for the price of a ticket, you get UNLIMITED food and beverages from restaurants at the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Yep, all you can eat and drink! In 2023, the event ran from 5:30-9PM on both days Food and Wine Classic In addition to booths for each of the Swan & Dolphin’s restaurants, there are also themed areas with even more food and drinks. Last year’s themed areas included The Beer Garden, For the Love of Florida, Carnival Corner, and Chinatown. For the Love of Florida The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin has not yet released ticket prices for this year’s event, but last year, tickets were $185 per person for unlimited food and beverage tastings on the Causeway. You’ll also find live entertainment performing in the Dolphin clamshell fountain each evening. The event also includes seminars you can attend for an additional cost on wine tasting, pasta making, craft cocktails, and more! Il Mulino Booth Last year, the festival also offered two VIP experiences: VIP Champagne and Dessert Party at the Swan Reserve and a Master Sommelier-led Grand Tasting. Note that these are additional paid options you can add. Guests planning to stay at the Swan and Dolphin for the event may call 888-828-8850 to learn about room discounts, too. Note that you’ll still have to buy your tickets separately. Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic This event is great if you want to spend an evening outside the parks indulging in some delicious food and wine. Menus for the Food & Wine Classic will eventually be released, too, so you can plan what you want to eat ahead of time. We’ll be sure to share those as soon as they’re available. There is a LOT of food to try (and again, you can try it all with your ticket to the event), so we recommend not filling up at the parks the day you plan on attending. Have you ever stopped and thought about how many rides there are at Disney World? Hollywood Studios When it comes to those rides, you’ve got options for everyone whether you’re looking for spinning rides, simulators, or of course, roller coasters! There’s one thing that you may not have ever thought about though — some of the rides can be downright UNSETTLING! Let’s go over some of them so that you can decided whether or not you’ll hop on them on your next Disney World visit! As we said, we’re going to go over some of the most unsettling rides at Disney World! Tower of Terror This one is arguably the most “spine-chilling” ride in all of Disney World. The Tower of Terror plunges riders into a haunted hotel with a dark history. Tower of Terror The eerie ambiance, coupled with sudden drops that leave your stomach at the top of the tower, makes this a must-ride for thrill-seekers and a HUGE no-go for the faint of heart. Haunted Mansion While the Haunted Mansion is more whimsical than terrifying, its spooky theme and ghostly inhabitants can be unsettling for your younger kiddos. The Haunted Mansion The eerie narration and chilling special effects don’t help in that regard, but they do set a mood that’s just creepy enough to make you think twice about what is hiding in the shadows. Pirates of the Caribbean Don’t be fooled by the swashbuckling theme! The dark ride features sudden drops and a particularly scary section at the beginning that plunges you into complete darkness. Pirates of the Caribbean Also, the dim lighting and sudden cannon blasts can startle young ones (and us young-at-heart folks too!). Mission: SPACE Mission: SPACE offers two levels of intensity, but even the milder Green Mission can still feel claustrophobic. Mission: SPACE If you opt for the Orange Mission, you’ll experience a simulated space launch with intense G-forces that can leave you weak in the knees and a little green around the gills. Overall, it can be an exhilarating experience and an unsettling one. Rise of the Resistance This immersive experience starts off at an eleven by dropping you right in the middle of a galactic conflict from the get-go. Rise of the Resistance While the thrill of being captured by the First Order and escaping their clutches is exciting, the intense action and realistic effects can be pretty overwhelming, especially for younger or more sensitive guests. Space Mountain Space Mountain is a classic dark ride that will have you zooming through the darkness at high speeds with unexpected twists and turns, which, understandably, is both exhilarating and unsettling. Space Mountain The disorienting lack of light combined with the speed can leave you screaming and with wobbly legs as you step back into the daylight. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster If you thought Space Mountain was intense, this high-speed launch coaster with its upside-down loops and tight turns might have you screaming for mercy (or maybe singing along to Aerosmith?). Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith The inversions, corkscrews, and darkened tracks make for a disorienting (albeit thrilling ride) that’s not for the faint-hearted. Expedition Everest This roller coaster through the Himalayas throws in a harrowing backward segment, a surprise drop, and a rather imposing (albeit non-moving) yeti. Expedition Everest at night It’s definitely an exciting ride, but its unpredictable nature and the imposing yeti might be a bit much for some guests. ©D23 That was just a bit on the Disney World rides that we find to be the most unsettling, and we’d love to hear more from you! We’re getting closer to summer, and you know what that means — hot days in Disney World! Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom The Florida heat can be intense, and the humidity that comes with it makes it even more relentless. When you visit the Disney World parks in the summer, you gotta be prepared for the weather. That means dressing for the hot days and knowing that it’s not only yourself that can overheat but also your phone and other electronics. Luckily, we’ve found a solution for keeping your phone cool, even when you’re constantly using it in the HOT parks. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Disney has made it so that your phone is a very important part of your theme park vacation. From dining reservations to Genie+ and so much more, the Disney World app is practically a requirement for a smooth trip. Unfortunately, this means you’ll likely have your phone out most of the day, and on days when it’s extremely hot out, that heat can be detrimental to phones. ©Disney It can be frustrating when you’re trying to use your phone but it suddenly overheats. That’s why we were so excited we we found these small, attachable cooling fans for phones! We weren’t sure how they would do, so we tested one out for ourselves. Pick Up a New Phone Cooling Fan! Black Shark Phone Cooler Get It Here! This is the Black Shark phone cooler, and it attaches right to the back of your phone. It’s about the size of any MagSafe charger that you might attach to your phone for extra battery life (also useful in the parks!). We also noticed that it’s very lightweight, which is great when you have to carry it around all day. It fits right on the back! Get It on Amazon The fan cools down the phone by blowing air all across it, which helps prevent the battery and screen from overheating, similar to the fan on your computer. This is much more convenient than having to stop your day to go into a building with air conditioning and put an ice-cold bottle of water on your phone (trust us, we’ve been there). While we hope you DO take breaks to cool yourself down and stay hydrated, we don’t want you to have to stop your fun just because of your phone. Small and Lightweight Grab It Here! In the dead of summer, we’ll be SUPER thankful to have this little fan on the back of our cell phones. It’ll make a world of a difference when we’re trying to take pictures, book lightning lanes, and keep tabs on wait times. It’s important to keep your phone cool and working, so consider a convenient little fan like this one for your next trip! It’s a lifesaver! Get the Phone Fan Here! Major changes are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This upcoming expansion will bring even larger crowds to Animal Kingdom After months of rumors, and talk of blue sky possibilities, Disney has confirmed elements of the massive upcoming expansion to Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. With everything confirmed so far, there is one attraction we’re dreaming of… Rumors of Disney expanding Animal Kingdom by repurposing the area that currently makes up Dinoland U.S.A. have been going strong for years, with fans considering numerous different concepts. Finally, at the Destination D23 event in September of 2023, Josh D’Amaro – the president of Disney Experiences – confirmed that Disney was considering additions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones – which would likely take over Dinosaur, consider it uses the same ride system and track layout of Indiana Jones Adventure -for the area. We’ll miss Dinosaur, but we’re not opposed to this During the same event, Imagineering head Bruce Vaughn said of the development of the land, “Imagineering has been talking about stories from this part of the world; Encanto with Indiana Jones just rose to the top. They give us so much to play with. We have a long way to go now and a lot more to discover. But our team here in Florida is all over it.” We’d be THRILLED! Disney Imagineering finally confirmed some details about the expansion in early April, when the organization posted a video on Instagram with the caption, “Travel with us to the Yucatán Peninsula, one of the many locales where we’ll draw inspiration for Tropical Americas, the exciting update coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! “ Within the video, Neal Emery, Principal Landscape Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, explains “We recently took a trip down to Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula to study culture, art, and the archeology of the Mayans. Imagineers build 3D models to help visualize the stories that we’re trying to tell, to bring the fantastical and magical to life.” WaltDisneyImagineering Instagram While neither Encanto or Indiana Jones are confirmed, the fact that both have been name-dropped so often, combined with the fact that both fit the Tropical Americas theme – the former is set in Columbia while the latter had many adventures in South America – it seems like it’s only a matter of time until they’re confirmed. However, this is still one ride we’re dreaming of for the area: A thill ride based on The Emperor’s New Groove – which is set in the Peruvian area of the Incan Empire – that culminates in a massive “Pull the lever, Kronk!” scene. Come on, admit you would LOVE that just as much as we would! Disney Kronk ride aside, the massive expansion coming to Animal Kingdom should prove to change the Walt Disney World Resort FOREVER. Fantasmic! Is BACK in Disneyland! @Disney After being on hiatus for over a year due to a forced refurbishment caused by the fire that took down the show’s iconic dragon animatronic back in April of 2023, Fantasmic! has FINALLY returned to Disneyland…and WE GOT TO SEE IT. While Fantasmic!’s closure was obviously unplanned, Disney took the opportunity to refresh the show a bit, introducing a few updates with its return. The show still includes lots of returning fan-favorite elements, but there are two BIG changes this time around. Fantasmic! returns! Of course, the biggest change is in the finale showdown between Mickey and Maleficent. Previously, Maleficent transformed into a dragon during this scene, which was the animatronic that caught fire back in 2023 and led to the show’s hiatus for over a year. Showdown Between Mickey & Maleficent Now, Maleficient remains in human form during her final duel with Mickey, rising high above the stage on a tower 35 feet tall. Maleficent vs. Mickey! There are still pyrotechnic effects during the scene, as Maleficent sets the river below her on fire. There are other special effects as well, including lasers, water effects, and sparks that Mickey shoots from his hands. Effects during Fantasmic! The show itself — and the final battle between Mickey and Maleficient — still retains its original premise, just with the removal of the iconic dragon. The Final Showdown got Some Changes! And that’s not the only scene that got an update! The revamped Fantasmic! also brings back the Peter Pan pirate ship scene, which previously featured characters from Pirates of the Caribbean before the show went on hiatus. Fantasmic! Pirate Ship In this scene, Peter Pan and Captain Hook duel high above the deck of the ship while The Lost Boys battle Hook’s crew below. Peter Pan vs. Captain Hook After over a year-long hiatus, it felt good to see Fantasmic! BACK in its longtime rightful home on the banks of the Rivers of America at Disneyland.
