  2. Hooray! It’s time to talk about July in Disney World! Spaceship Earth welcomes you to EPCOT… and to World Celebration! A lot is going on in the Disney World parks in July 2024 besides sweat, dehydration, and swamp crotch (it’s a thing, don’t look at us like that). Popular attractions are reopening, restaurants are closing, exclusive firework shows are returning for a (very) limited time, and more. Let’s get into five of the biggest changes happening at Disney World in July! If you’re heading to Disney World soon, be sure to check out our planning worksheets. You can click the image below to get our list and make sure you don’t forget a thing! Here’s a peek at what you can look forward to in July at Disney World! NEW Hotel Rooms Open Starting the month off strong, The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are set to debut on July 1st! These are the newest Disney Vacation Club rooms available in Disney World and they replaced the older cabins you could once stay in at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Room inside The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort The cabins have been fully redesigned (no more log-style cabins around here) and were met with some mixed feelings from fans now that they have a sleeker look. There are over 350 refreshed cabins and each one can sleep up to six adults and features one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, a full kitchen, and a private patio. Some cabins are also dog-friendly. So many cute touches! We were lucky enough to get an exclusive tour of the new cabins back in April — you can see all of our photos at the link below. Be sure to let us know what you think! FULL TOUR: We Got an Exclusive Look at the NEW Fort Wilderness Cabins in Disney World! Exclusive Fireworks Show Returns Celebrating the Fourth of July in Disney World? Get ready to experience something special — Disney World’s Fourth of July fireworks have been confirmed to return in 2024! Magic Kingdom fireworks On July 3rd and 4th, Happily Ever After will take a quick hiatus while “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” returns. That’s not all though — a simultaneous fireworks display over nearby Seven Seas Lagoon also takes place on July 3rd and 4th at 9:20PM. Is It Time To Say Goodbye to the Magic Kingdom Fireworks? 1,000 Disney Fans Had STRONG Opinions Country Bear Jamboree Is Back! Between the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the return of Country Bear Jamboree in July, Frontierland is coming back to life! The latter will officially reopen to Magic Kingdom visitors on July 17th, 2024. And we can’t wait! New look at Country Bear Jamboree Disney has completely revamped the show while keeping the same bears you know and love. They will all sport some new outfits and sing several fan-favorite Disney songs in different styles of country music! So if you’ll be in the park in the second half of July, be sure to stop by and check out the all-new show. SONGS, ARTISTS Revealed for Revamped Country Bear Jamboree Show in Disney World Food Court Construction/Closure Staying at a Disney World hotel certainly has its perks including free transportation and Early Theme Park Entry, but restaurant closures are NOT one of them. If you are staying at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort in July, be warned — the food court is going to be under construction for the entire month. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort That’s right — from July 1st to 31st, the World Premiere Food Court will be undergoing a refurbishment. Don’t worry about it too much though, because you’ll still be able to grab food from this spot (which is good because this is the resort’s only restaurant). However, all of the seating will be closed off, so you’ll have to actually eat somewhere else at the hotel. You can take it back to the room or grab a spot by the pool! You can use the My Disney Experience app to order food and drinks with your mobile device. The mobile order menu will only offer select items during the refurbishment, though, so keep that in mind for your stay. World Premiere Food Court There’s more where that came from because starting on July 29th, Everything POP will close for refurbishment at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. This closure will last until September 29th making it a pretty lengthy one! It’s the same deal as the World Premiere Food Court — guests will be able to order from a limited menu via mobile order on the My Disney Experience app. Everything POP at Disney’s Pop Century But wait, there’s more! At Disney World’s most exclusive hotel, Shades of Green, Garden Gallery Marketplace is partially closing in July. This resort is reserved for active or retired military members and their families. Garden Gallery Restaurant in Shades of Green Hotel Luckily there are several dining options here and it is close to the other Magic Kingdom hotels, but heads up if you’re planning a stay there! You can learn more about this closure right here. Mark My Words: These 7 Hotel Trends Will Be HUGE in Disney World in 2025 Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Reopens FINALLY. After months and months of waiting, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is expected to reopen in July! Specifically, the thrill ride starring Aerosmith will reopen on Saturday, July 27th. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Its hours are listed as the standard 8:30AM to 9AM for those with early theme park entry, and Hollywood Studios’ normal operating hours of 9AM to 9PM. This closure was for a “routine refurbishment”, so it should look the same as usual when it reopens. We’ll report back if we notice anything different, though! It closed in January 2024, so it’s been a whileeeee. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster The closures for this ride have been…well…a roller coaster! It’s known to have many technical issues and last year, the coaster also had a long refurbishment period. Here’s to hoping Disney fixed some of those issues and the ride will be up and running without too many problems soon! REVIEW: Breakfast at Hollywood Studios with RARE Characters? Say No More! 3. Disney folks are a passionate bunch — but throw Star Wars people into the mix, too, and you’ve got some of the most die-hard fans out there. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge So, when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, lots of folks got the best of both worlds. There’s so much to explore, see, do, eat, and drink in Galaxy’s Edge — and now there’s one more reason for Star Wars fans to stop by! Heads up, Star Wars fans! A new collectible mug has rolled out at Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — and we think it might be our favorite one yet. Introducing the Loth-cat mug! It’s available for purchase with any non-alcoholic beverage right now. ©Disney Oga’s Cantina is well known for its concoctions — available with choices for kids and adults both — that feature “exotic ingredients using otherworldly methods, served in unique vessels.” Themed cocktails (like the Dagobah Slug Slinger, the Fuzzy Tauntaun, and Jet Juice), non-alcoholic specialty drinks (the kiddos will love the cookie-topped Blue Bantha), and proprietary beer and wine selections are on offer. Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios It’s a great spot to get out of the heat and grab a drink — especially if you’re a Star Wars fan! We’re not sure how long the Loth Cat mug will be available at Oga’s, but it’s likely only available while supplies last. So, if you want to get your paws on this little guy, make sure you head over to Hollywood Studios as soon as you can! 4. Are you ready to celebrate 626 Day?! Hi, Stitch! What’s so special about 626 Day? 626 is Stitch’s experiment number from Lilo & Stitch, so it’s known by many Disney fans as Stitch Day. For the past few years, we’ve seen special merchandise, events, and more around the parks and hotels — and it doesn’t look like this year will be any different! First up, you can grab the Experiment 626 Éclair at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs made with Passion fruit and mango éclair. It’s available June 23rd through 30th. ©Disney Or, grab the Lilo and Stitch Slushy at Amorette’s Patisserie. This is a Frozen Minute Maid Passion Fruit Orange and Guava Juice topped with whipped cream and an edible Lilo and Stitch image. ©Disney The Stitch Blueberry-Lemonade Mousse Cake at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Magic Kingdom is a classic, made with Blueberry mousse, lemon curd, vanilla cake, and mango glaze. This one is ONLY available on June 26th! ©Disney And finally, you can get the Experiment 626 Cone at Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Blue vanilla soft-serve cone with flavors of cotton candy topped with Stitch ears chocolate décor. 5. We know a thing or two about Disney World eats — we are Disney Food Blog, after all. Spaceship Earth So when new snacks come out that we get to try and review for you, well, we get pretty darn excited. EPCOT is known for being a haven of delicious foods and we certainly tend to agree. We’re heading to the World Showcase to check out some new eats at one of our favorite quick-service restaurants! Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue in EPCOT’s American Adventure Pavilion celebrates the regions of American BBQ and serves up craft brews on tap. You’re encouraged to try any of the four house-recipe sauces while enjoying their Memphis Dry-Rub Pork Ribs, Sliced Texas Beef Brisket Sandwich, or Kansas City Half-Smoked Chicken — to name just a few entrees on the menu. Classic sides like Baked Beans with Burnt Ends and dessert options are available to complete the meal. Let’s gooooo! We stopped by to check out some new menu items, starting with the BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich! This is made with Pulled BBQ Jackfruit with Coleslaw and Onion Rings on Garlic Toast served with a choice of Side (we chose fries, of course) for $13.99. BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich This sandwich looks like a hot mess so we truly believed it would taste like one also, but they tricked us! Each ingredient listed on its own did not excite us (except for the onion rings, which didn’t even end up on the sandwich). But we’re happy to say we were pleasantly surprised! We may even like this more than the barbecue jackfruit sandwich even though I can’t believe I’m saying that. Fair warning, though, abandon any belief that you are going to eat the sandwich with your hands. It is a sloppy mess and we had to give up and grab a knife and fork. It’s worth it and all the flavors together give not so much a barbecue flavor as much as a sort of vinegar and salt, sweet slaw flavor that we are obsessed with. A great sandwich for plant-based eaters and carnivores alike! Delish! We also tried the new House Salad with Smoked Chicken for $12.29. This salad comes with Hearts of Romaine, Tomato, Red Onions, Smokey Ranch, and Cornbread Croutons with Smoked Chicken. You can also get it with Beef Brisket if that’s more your vibe. House Salad with Smoked Chicken We hope you like lettuce, because there is quite a bit here — and not quite enough dressing, in our opinion. They serve it to you as a giant wedge so you’ll need to get a knife to cut it. The lettuce is nice and crispy and fresh, though. The ranch definitely has a smoky quality that contrasts with the sweet cornbread croutons. The red onions and tomatoes help vary the texture a bit. The strange thing about this flavor-wise is those croutons. If you get one with a bite of salad, the cornbread flavor overpowers everything else. The chicken served on the side is actually quite good — it’s very tender and moist and slathered in a smoky BBQ sauce. A solid option Well, what are you waiting for? 7. Sometimes things are so good you just have to go and revisit them. While we’ve tried everywhere to eat (and drink) around Disney World, we’ve been known to revert back every once in a while to retry a few of our favorites. Garden House here we come! This sparked an idea to revisit an “oldie but a goodie” classic stop around EPCOT’s World Showcase’s restaurants that hasn’t failed us in the past. Could Japan’s Garden House stand the test of time? We couldn’t wait to find out! One of our favorite places to grab a drink around EPCOT is located in the Japan pavilion — Garden House. This restaurant is an outdoor Sake bar that serves a limited selection of beverages. Garden House While it might not be a full-service restaurant, that doesn’t mean you need to write it off just yet! Atmosphere This is a unique restaurant that’s really almost more of a glorified beverage stand. While it’s a permanent fixture in the Japan Pavilion found around EPCOT’s World Showcase, it’s very open-concept. In the line The theming for the outside of the building is beautiful and blends with the incredible Japanese style of architecture and decor. When it’s open, the front doors are pulled aside revealing the ordering counter just inside. Order at the counter Once the line reaches the building, you’ll be asked to step inside, view the menu, place your order, and pay all in the same spot. Unfortunately, since this place is so small, a few outdoor tables are provided nearby (picnic style)… Very limited outdoor seating …and you might find a few standing tables outside of the nearby store, Mitsukoshi. Otherwise, your other option is to take your drink with you as you continue to work your way around EPCOT! Menu Since Garden House is smaller their menu isn’t terribly extensive. They mostly serve a few beers, and cocktails, along with a few sake and plum wine drinks… Menu There are also a few soda options, lemonade, iced green tea, and water available for purchase, too. For this visit, we decided we’d try out the Violet Sake and Tokyo Sunset. These are two popular drinks to pick up from this restaurant and while they’ve been around for a while, it’s always nice to revisit a classic and see if they’re just as you remembered. Drinks At first glance, both of these drinks are stunning to look at! It’s hard to choose which you would want to start with first but, ultimately, we opted for the Violet Sake as our first sip. This drink is made of sake, purple pear, and lime juice and will cost you $12.50. Violet Sake This drink is kind of a legend around EPCOT and for good reason. It’s smooth, not overly bitter or sweet, and you can taste the sake and pear that work well with each other. While we didn’t get a whole lot of the line juice initially in our sip, you can taste it when you’re looking for it — but it’s not strong. Floral vibes It’s a beautiful floral-tasting drink that won’t leave you with a funky aftertaste. The next drink we had lined up was the Tokyo Sunset. This drink is made with coconut rum, crème de banana, peach schnapps, and pineapple juice and will also cost you $12.50. Tokyo Sunset We thought this drink was a close second to the Violet Sake. If you like some of the more fruitier drinks served around the Disney World hotels this one is calling your name. It’s got it all — pineapple juice that’s a tad sour but mostly sweet, the coconut in the rum to add to the beachy vibe and the peach schnapps and crème de banana bring it all home. So pretty! It’s almost like having a fruit smoothie without the smoothie. It’s bright and its flavors can easily be picked apart by your taste buds so if you’re not into heavier syrup drinks like the Violet Sake then we highly recommend trying this one! Overall Overall we’re not sure there’s a drink here that will leave a “bad” taste in your mouth between all of the floral and beachy flavors. Not a bad lineup! If you’re looking for a place to grab a refreshing alcoholic beverage that won’t weigh too heavy on you in the intense Florida heat, these are two of the best to try out! Nosh or Not? Breeze on by Garden House if… You’re looking for a solid international drink that’s a bit different! The two drinks we tried here were very light and didn’t leave us with a heavy aftertaste to weigh on our stomachs. You’re a sake drink fan! If you’re a sake drink fan and haven’t already stopped by here, we’re not sure what’s been keeping you away. You’re on a mission to try the best drinks around EPCOT’s World Showcase. These were two of the best drinks to pick up around EPCOT and they’re a “can’t miss” on your next visit. The winds are blowing you in a different direction if… You’re not a Sake fan. If you don’t like sake and find yourself stopping by here, there are other options to choose from, but sake is their specialty. You’re looking for food along with your drinks. Unfortunately, Garden House is a beverage-only restaurant. You want to relax with a dedicated seat while you sip your drink. There’s very little seating around Garden House and that’s if it’s not already taken. If you need something a little extra with your stop, this isn’t quite the place that will be ideal. 8. Downtown Disney in Anaheim recently added three new restaurants — but they’re still not stopping! Din Tai Fung A while back, we learned that the iconic Din Tai Fung restaurant — famous for its soup dumplings — would be opening in this shopping and dining district sometime this year, we just didn’t know when. Disney had shared an opening timeline, but now it’s official and we know when you’ll be able to try those delicious dumps! It’s official! Din Tai Fung will be soft opening at Downtown Disney Anaheim on June 24th — that’s in just a couple of days! We’ve been keeping up with all the latest updates, and we’re happy to share that you’ll be able to enjoy those famous soup dumplings soon. Din Tai Fung Din Tai Fung is famous for soup dumplings, which are “hand-crafted right on sight,” at its current locations in Las Vegas, Costa Mesa, and other places in Southern California, Oregon, and Washington. These are in addition to international locations in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Europe, and Thailand. Current locations feature various soups, many different flavors of dumplings and buns, wontons, noodles, fried rice, and dessert dumplings filled with chocolate, red bean paste, or sweet taro. We got to try the bao! Din Tai Fung originally opened in Taipei, Taiwan. According to the restaurant’s website, Mr. Bing-Yi Yang immigrated to Taiwan and opened a shop selling cooking oil. He named the shop Din Tai Fung. He and his wife sold dumplings in their shop as well, called Xiao Long Bao (steamed pork soup dumplings). These dumplings became so popular that Mr. Yang “phased out his oil business” and Din Tai Fung became a full-blown restaurant. Delicious Reservations can be made NOW on Yelp, and Disney has advised that this is a soft opening, which means there might still be some kinks to work out — so be patient with the employees if you decide to visit right after opening! We also got the chance to get a sneak peek of the merchandise that will be released once this spot opens, and you can check it out here. Cute! We’ll be checking Din Tai Fung out and bringing you our full review once it opens. 9. It’s probably pretty obvious that with summer now in full swing, you’ll probably experience fluctuating wait times, heavier crowds, and even some weird weather patterns in Orlando. Orlando International Airport But, did you know that holidays can affect travel patterns too? With major airlines and speed trains advertising fare specials around this time, you really could need to plan to pack extra patience and allow for an insurgence of travels. At least, that seems to be the way the numbers are trending right now! According to AAA, the upcoming Fourth of July holiday could be booming over more than just fireworks. They’re projecting more than 70 million travelers will be headed for travels of 50 miles or more from home over the holiday week. When they studied the projected numbers for the Saturday before the week of the holiday, the full week, and the Sunday afterward, they concluded travelers could expect a 5% increase over 2023 and a whopping 8% increase from the same period of time in 2019. ©AAA That’s right — the current projection for the upcoming Independence Day holiday is expecting the number of people traveling to exceed pre-pandemic numbers. Paula Twidale, the Senior Vice President of AAA Travel, attributes summer break for kids and the flexibility of remote work as a big part of why these projected numbers have seen such an incline. “We anticipate this July 4th week will be the busiest ever with an additional 5.7 million people traveling compared to 2019.” In fact, Orlando has been named as the second-highest vacation destination on their list. ©Spirit Airlines The busiest projected pick-up days for travelers are expected to be Friday, June 28th, Saturday, June 29th, and Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. So, what does this mean for Orlando? If you’re traveling by car to Orlando, AAA expects to see lower gas prices at the pump which might encourage those who were on the fence about traveling or between travel methods to choose this route. If you’ll be driving, make sure you allow for more frequent fuel-ups at regular intervals, and don’t be surprised to find yourself in more congestion and bottleneck areas, especially in metro cities. Gas stations will be busy Should you be expecting to travel by air for the holidays to Orlando, you’ll want to allow for extra time checking in at the airport, for full security screenings (or check into other speedier security options like TSA Pre-Check), and practice patience especially when you recognize more people flying who might not be as familiar with the processes and procedures. Security Lines at MCO But if you’re really looking to avoid the absolute WORST times to be traveling, there’s more data to back this up, too! According to INRIX, which is a company that specializes in transportation data and insight, the worst times to be driving before and on July 4th, 2024 are expected to be between 2PM and 7PM. Your best course of action to avoid traffic patterns predicted at their worst is to travel in the morning or hit the road as early as possible. Additionally, travelers looking to return from their holiday vacations on July 8th, 2024 should anticipate avoiding rush hour traffic in both the morning and afternoon hours. 10. Universal just took Epic Universe to the DARK side. Dark Universe portal photo op Over the last several months, Universal has released details about each of the lands of the upcoming new theme park: Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Now, things are getting dark, as in Dark Universe. Theme Universal has released all the details for Epic Universe’s next land: Dark Universe. The highly anticipated portal is based around the Universal Monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man. The land marks the first time those iconic interpretations will have a fully dedicated land and series of rides in a Universal theme park. ©Universal Once visitors walk through the Dark Universe portal, they’re whisked off to a place full of dark energy. They’ll step into the village of Darkmoor and stare up at the focal point of the land, Frankenstein Manor. The theme here is all about monsters. ©Universal But let’s talk about some of the dark experiences this land will offer visitors. Attractions Visitors will get to step foot into Frankenstein Manor for Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, which is described as “Universal’s most terrifying attraction yet. This is a state-of-the-art dark ride that goes into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor and into Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s lab, where she’s demonstrating how to control monsters. Her experiment goes horribly wrong, though, and you’re taken on an “intense” ride where you will face the likes of The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and more monsters. ©Universal You’ll find Curse of the Werewolf, a spinning family coaster inspired by “The Wolf Man,” deep in the woods that surround Darkmoor. You’ll enter The Guild of the Mystics where the guild’s seer and leader, Maleva, warns you that you bear the mark of the werewolf. You must board a wagon and enter the forest racing werewolves before you become one yourself. ©Universal Well, that sounds utterly terrifying, doesn’t it? Other Experiences Forget Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. At the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience, you can get a monster makeover with elaborate face paint and temporary tattoos set in Dr. Pretorius’ old lab. You can become the Universal monster of your dreams…or your nightmares. This experience is available for all ages. ©Universal Of course, you can’t have a monsters-themed park without having some monsters to meet. So you’ll be able to meet and get photos with everyone from Victoria Frankenstein’s Monster and the Bride of Frankenstein. Plus you’ll see other monsters roaming Darkmoor, like Ygor, The Invisible Man, an eccentric monster hunter, and a musician who “regales guests with songs and tales of the classic Universal Monsters stories.” Restaurants Let’s talk about the part that REALLY has us excited: the FOOD! There will be several food options in Dark Universe, including Das Stakehaus, an “ominous” restaurant run by a group of vampire familiars who are basically prepping diners to become part of the vampires’ feast. The menu will include things like kebabs, burgers, sandwiches, and more. ©Universal You’ll also find sustenance in The Burning Blade Tavern, which is a windmill which is still actually burning (yep, the blades of the windmill are on fire). The monster hunts of Darkmoor have transformed this mill into a restaurant with a menu of burgers, wings, bratwurst, pretzels, and specialty beverages. While here, you’ll learn about the “Hounds,” hunters who have no problem bragging about the monster trophies on the walls, aka the heads of monsters they’ve conquered ©Universal You’ll find De Lacey’s Cottage near Frankenstein Manor. It’s a food stand where you’ll find a variety of snacks and treats like cinnamon bread, twisted taters, and ice cream. Shops You’ll find one store where you can stock up on monstrous souvenirs. It’s Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities. With all of Dark Universe revealed, we’re only waiting on details of one more Epic Universe land: Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic. 11. We don’t like to root for Disney mishaps, but when they do happen, the results can be pretty entertaining. CommuniCore Hall Regardless of how you feel about the grand opening of CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza at EPCOT in Disney World, reactions around the internet have been less-than-stellar. It could be argued that Disney’s biggest mistake was opening a festival hub without an actual festival to celebrate. While we wait for the 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival later this year, CommuniCore Hall is basically just an empty space with chairs, tables, and some banners — and the internet has been RUTHLESS! At least one great thing has come from CommuniCore Hall’s simplicity — LEGOS! Twitter user and Universal Creative @TheHorizoneer turned CommuniCore Hall into a LEGO and the results are hilarious! CommuniCore Hall Since CommuniCore Hall is currently in its base form, we hope it evolves into something more vibrant and exciting during future EPCOT festivals. 12. All the Dis things… Magic Kingdom Celebrity sightings at Walt Disney World are nothing new, as everyone from heads to state to famous athletes to the world’s biggest musical stars have been making pilgrimages to the company’s theme parks since Walt’s day. Recently one of the biggest rock stars in the world paid a visit to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Mark Hoppus, the bassist and co-lead vocalist of mega pop punk band Blink-182 recently paid a visit to Walt Disney World, and documented his trip on social media. Hoppus shared several snaps form around the park, including a picture in front of Cinderella Castle, as well as a shot with a DOLE Whip and atmospheric photos of Tron, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Haunted Mansion. @MarkHoppus Instagram Hoppus captioned the photo set with, “Always the best day at #waltdisneyworld! Rode TRON and Guardians for the first time and they rule, and we can never skip Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion and Pirates. OH and the pineapple Dole Whip mixed with coconut whip is like a Disney Colada. Now to production rehearsals! Tour starts in two days!!” @MarkHoppus Instagram The tour Hoppus was referring to is Blink-182’s massive One More Time tour, which runs through the summer in the U.S. and sees the band playing 30 shows across North American stadiums and arenas in promotion of their 2023 album One More Time… The tour launched at Orlando’s Kia Center on June 20th, just one day after Hoppus shared his Disney World photo collection. Blink-182’s 2024 Orlando show. @MarkHoppus Instagram Hoppus isn’t the only Blink-182 member to have an expressed love for Disney parks. Drummer Travis Barker and his wife Kourtney Kardashian have been photographed many times at both Disney World — including spending Father’s Day 2024 there, presumably because Barker was in town for the same rehearsals as Hoppus — and Disneyland. The couple even had a Disneyland-themed baby shower in 2023 that featured food, signage, decoration, a cake, and even Dapper Dans. @KourtneyKardashian Instagram Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus spent a day at Walt Disney World just before his mega-successful band kicked off their latest sold out world tour. We’d bet he wasn’t feeling DOWN about living his best Jack and Sally life. Stay tuned to DFB for more coverage of celebs visiting the Disney parks. 6 Disney World Souvenirs You’ll Regret (!!!) 13. Okay, let’s face it — quick service options in Magic Kingdom, especially for lunch, are, well, pretty limited. Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom Of course, maybe you’ll get lucky and the Spring Roll Cart will be open. Or you can grab that Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow. Sure, there are plenty of burger and fries options, too, but that’s just so PLAIN. However, one Magic Kingdom quick service spot just added a NEW lunch option to its menu AND a tasty sweet treat, and both are solid NEW options you might want to try soon. Okay, so we know most of you go to Gaston’s Tavern for one thing and one thing only: that AMAZING Cinnamon Roll, but that’s not the only thing you should be paying attention to on the menu. We recently noticed a few new things added to the menu there, including a savory option that makes for a great lunch, a Ham and Gruyere Tart for $9.49 made with crispy croissant dough topped with ham and gruyere served with chips. We have one word for this tart: “spectacular.” Ham and Gruyere Tart No, really. The crust is soft, buttery, and flaky. The ham is savory and salty and adds the perfect chew. The melted gruyère on top adds a creamy and lovely cheesiness that’s almost like fondue. Then there are the green onions that add a touch of tanginess. We have ZERO complaints about this and we will be ordering this for lunch often. It’s not super heavy either (which is especially nice in the summer), but still filling enough to be a meal. That flaky crust! We also tried the Crème Brûlée Croissant. Yes, there’s another over-the-top croissant in Disney World. For $5.29, you get a crispy croissant dough filled with vanilla bean custard. First, get napkins because this baby is messy to eat. With that being said, the croissant dough isn’t quite as fluffy, but it’s still soft. The caramelization on top is sweet and sticky with a hint of char flavor. It adds a nice texture to the croissant as a whole. Crème Brûlée Croissant Inside, is a lot of yummy vanilla bean custard with a light vanilla flavor. If you love croissants or even filled donuts, this could be just the sweet treat you’re looking for. Messy, but delicious Apparently, no one makes croissant-based foods like Gaston (yes, we had to go there). If you find yourself looking for lunch and/or a snack in Magic Kingdom, head on over to Gaston’s Tavern and try out these new menu items! WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! We have reviewed nearly EVERY snack available at Disney World, and we’ve written a series of DFB Guides about them! 14. Some things in life are certain, such as the inevitable change at Disney World. Blink, and the Disney Parks could look completely different. Magic Kingdom Attractions close all the time for refurbishment in Disney World and it feels like we’re always looking ahead to the next big ride opening. In short, Disney World attractions consistently keep us on our toes thanks to their evolution. While we appreciate how Disney World manages to still pay homage to the past while implementing updates and changes, we can’t help but reflect upon and admire some truly outstanding ride transformations over the years. Disney World has had no shortage of ride transformations since it officially opened in 1971. However, some transformations have landed better than others — here are four that positively stand out! Test Track While EPCOT’s Test Track will be entering its THIRD iteration with this latest reimagining, it is sometimes overlooked that the attraction wasn’t always “Test Track” to begin with! Test Track Test Track wound up replacing World of Motion, a former attraction in Future World (now known as World Discovery). Presented by General Motors, this EPCOT opening-day attraction was in operation from 1982 to 1996 and gave rides a thrilling tour through a GM testing facility. ©Disney Riders would board Omnimover vehicles that would go through scenes full of audio-animatronic figures and projection effects that showcased the history and achievements of transportation — all with a comical approach. The finale of the ride also gave a glimpse at the possible future of transportation, with looks at future vehicles and Pepper’s Ghost illusions. Finally, once disembarked, riders would visit the TransCenter — an interactive area featuring Gm developed products. ©Disney Due to slumping business and contract uncertainty, Disney opted to turn the ride into a car-focused attraction that took riders through test scenarios to see if their vehicles were road-ready. In 1996, World of Motion closed and Test Track opened three years later in 1999. Since 1999, Test Track has had two iterations (heading into its third) and regardless of which version you prefer, it’s safe to say the change to Test Track has been a success. Test Track boarding area The most recent version of Test Track (Test Track 2.0) changed the storyline and added a pre-ride interactive design center. The redesigned lobby introduced guests to “vehicles of the future” with full-size concept cars and models and took passengers into the Chevrolet Design Center to virtually design their own car. You’d then board a special “SIM Car” and road test your designs on a futuristic journey through dark terrain sets with neon lights. Once off the attraction, you’d find yourself in a high-tech showroom full of interactive games, simulators, and photo opportunities. While it’s wildly debated which version of Test Track is superior, what’s generally accepted is that the attraction overall is a worthy successor to World of Motion. We’re excited to see what version 3.0 has in store! Frozen Ever After While the projections can be…iffy…at times, there’s no denying the popularity of Frozen Ever After. This EPCOT attraction replaced Maelstrom in the Norway pavilion in World Showcase back in 2016. Frozen Ever After Don’t get it twisted — Maelstrom was a good ride. The reversing boat ride attraction that opened in July 1988 had passengers board boats modeled after longships as they journeyed through mythological Norway, facing peril and adventure — and some pretty cool audio-animatronics. Scenes depicted Norse gods, seafarers, maritime villages, polar bears, puffins, monsters, and other Viking imagery. Boats would reverse, speed up, and plunge down a 28-foot drop into the stormy North Sea. RIP Maelstrom Eventually, the Disney Parks became more IP focussed and Maelstrom closed for good in October 2014. Frozen Ever After took its place as the main Scandinavian attraction in 2016. The layout isn’t all too dissimilar from Maelstrom, still featuring the boat element, accelerations, reversals, and drop. Riders journey through Arendelle as the citizens celebrate the “Official Summer Snow Day”. Frozen Ever After in Disney World Riders sail off into a winter wonderland, where they’ll hear familiar music from Frozen as well as encounter familiar characters like Olaf, Sven, Grand Pabbie, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Marshmallow, and more. Riders can sing along to songs like “For the First Time in Forever” and “Let It Go” as fluid animatronics and special effects mostly dazzle (we mentioned the shoddy face projections) while they dip down small drops backward and forward to the final village destination. All in all, this is a wonderful attraction based on an incredibly popular Disney animated film full of innovative ride effects — what’s not to love? Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Wow, we really love these EPCOT ride transformations, huh?! Our next pick is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in World Discovery. This AMAZING coaster replaced Ellen’s Energy Adventure. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Previously Universe of Energy, Ellen’s Energy Adventure was open from 1996 to 2017 and starred, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Nye “The Science Guy”, Jamie Lee Curtis, Alex Trebek, and Johnny Gilbert. The attraction took a lighthearted look at the science behind energy and the origins of fossil fuels by using a traveling theater system to depict movie screens, show a primeval diorama, and play some Jeopardy!. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Cosmic Rewind opened in 2022 after delays due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, but the wait was worth it as it instantly became one of Disney World’s BEST rides. Based on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, this coaster embodies the spirited team well, being equally chaotic, hilarious, and absolutely entertaining. Cosmic Rewind Queue Ride shuttles launch you backward at the beginning 60 mph to one of six randomized songs — “Disco Inferno” by the Trammps, “I Ran (So Far Away)” by A Flock of Seagulls, “Conga” by Miami Sound Machine, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, “One Way or Another” by Blondie, or “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. From there, you’ll drift through space on smoothly rotating ride vehicles that, while fast, mitigate any unpleasantness that comes with other dark coasters like Space Mountain. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind We can’t stress how much this ride gives us a feeling of pure joy. Thrilling but not too scary, this coaster is a definite crowd-pleaser and the biggest and best Disney World upgrade in years. Pirates of the Caribbean Over in Magic Kingdom, Pirates of the Caribbean has gotten a few upgrades over the years. Pirates of the Caribbean While not an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom, fans were so in love with the Disneyland version that they basically forced Disney World’s hand in adding a Florida version in 1973. Being a classic Disney attraction, every change to this beloved ride has been met with controversy on both coasts, but we feel like two major changes have been for the better. Jack Sparrow The first was the introduction of the CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow animatronics and storyline in 2017. To tie the ride into the movies that were inspired by the attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean installed a few Jack Sparrow animatronics in various parts of the attraction. Without compromising the classic feel of the ride, Disney was able to seamlessly blend the old with the new Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise to create something both longtime fans and movie fans could appreciate. Redd The next big change was adjusting the controversial auction scene. Disney abandoned the buy-a-bride scene in 2017 and instead went more for a traditional auction — with a twist. The change turned the former redhead bride into Redd, a swashbuckling buccaneer who was inspired by Anne Bonny. A whole lore has been created around Redd and we love that she’s become a full-fledged character in the Disney character archives. Pirates of the Caribbean Which ride transformation is your favorite? 15. The wilderness is meant to be explored — and by wilderness, we mean food at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So when we heard that a popular restaurant in the park had made a change to their menu recently, we couldn’t help ourselves! Full spread We popped by Tiffins Restaurant for a full meal of interesting eats at a signature dining price and we have to admit that the sticker shock of those fine dining prices did make us a tad nervous before tasting the food. So, after all was said and done, would we have done it over and what did we think about EVERYTHING we tried? Let’s dive in! Located on Discovery Island of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as you make your way toward Pandora, one of the restaurants you’ll pass is Tiffins Restaurant. This is the resident signature restaurant for this Disney World park. Here you’ll be met with an international cuisine meant to bring out your explorer and adventurous side! Tiffins Restaurant We’ve dined here before, but knew that Tiffins had recently added something new to the menu so we decided to book a reservation and try it out for ourselves! Atmosphere After you check in with the host stand outside, you’ll be directed into the restaurant’s waiting area. Ahead of you will be a counter where the hosts will greet you and escort you to your table once it’s ready. Come on in! Tiffins Restaurant gets its name from the South Asian English word for a meal taken during the midday but can also be used as a name for a container used for carrying food during travel. You’ll find several of those on display right as you walk in. There’s so much to explore! “Celebration of travel” is the heart of the theme for this restaurant, much like what the rest of the park was built on itself. Inside the dining rooms, you’re surrounded by beautiful artwork all around you, and don’t be surprised if your server and host invite you to get up and explore all 3 of their dining rooms just like you would an art exhibit at a gallery. Menu As we were brought over to our table, our server swiftly swooped in to introduce himself and provided us with several menus. We were seated for a meal at lunchtime, so in addition to the regular menu, we were also presented with a limited-offering menu, too. This restaurant’s cuisine is a mix of African, Asian, and South American-inspired dishes, desserts, and beverage selections. Our table setting Tiffins offers an extensive selection of wines to pair with their food offerings including cellar finds, sparking and white wines, rose… Wine menu …and lots of red wines. The back of the wine menu The main menu for lunch and dinner consists of a few appetizers, main course entrees, bread service… Lunch menu …specialty cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails, beers, and even a few alcoholic flights. The back of the lunch menu Since we snagged a lunch reservation, we were also presented with a menu for lunch specials as well. Lunch specials After a few minutes to browse the menu and make our selections, we placed our order and waited for our food to arrive. Drinks To start things off we decided to order the Tropical Ube Cocktail with our meal. This drink is made with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Novo Fogo Silver Cachaça, Coconut Milk, Sweetened Condensed Milk, Ube Extract, and Pineapple and Lime Juices garnished with a Pineapple Wedge and costs $16, and boy, did it taste even better than it looked! Tropical Ube Cocktail This drink has a nice, smooth rum base to it which really plays well against the sweet, almost tart Ube flavor with the condensed milk. All of that combined with the fruitier pineapple and lime juice helps kick that tang up just a bit to be able to pick all of the flavors out individually. Honestly, we wish they sold this drink at other restaurants around Disney’s Animal Kingdom becuase for the price and flavor of this drink alone, it’s worth the visit here! Eats Then our food started to arrive and it was time to dig in! You know how much we’re obsessed with bread around Disney World restaurants so naturally we had to order Tiffins Signature Bread Service, the new Tiffins Signature Burger, and finish our meal off with a White-Chocolate Orange Creme Brulee. Our entire meal Let’s start from the top, shall we? Tiffins Signature Bread Service is served to your table on a tiered platter featuring several types of breads and coordinating dips which costs $18. It is easily one of the most adventurous bread services you can order at Disney World and it’s not too hard to see why from first impressions! Tiffins Signature Bread Service Starting from the top, your first tier will feature pão de queijo served with guava sauce… Top tier …the middle tier features papadam served with ginger-pear chutney… Middle tier …and the bottom tier features Thai red curry milk bread served with coconut-curry sauce. Bottom tier The pão de queijo bread is a popular choice of cheese bread in Brazil and is made with tapioca flour, eggs, and cheese. The cheese is baked into the center of the small bun… Inside the cheese bread …and when it’s paired with the guava sauce, it creates a wonderful symphony of cheese, fluffy bread, and sweet fruity guava flavor! Cheese and sweet The papadam bread is much crispier and looks almost like a tortilla but it’s actually made of flour or paste derived from lentils, chickpeas, black gram, rice, or potatoes which are then fried to have the consistency of something like a chip. It will give an audible crack when you break a piece off of it or bite into it, but this one also had seasoning added to it which gave hints of cumin, and garlic salt. Papadam Our taste buds were sent into overdrive when we tried the papadam with the ginger-pear chutney which tasted much more savory than we expected it to! However, it seemed to balance itself out because the pear in the chutney provided a layer of sweetness against the salty, cumin flavoring sprinkled on the bread. It’s just the right amount of sweet and spice together. With the ginger-pear chutney The Thai red curry milk bread really lives up to the “curry” hint in its name. At first glance, your brain might want to think it’s a sweet-spice bread like gingerbread, but it’s very far from that! The curry base in the bread gives a medium spiciness to the bread’s flavor which was only enhanced with the coconut-curry sauce. Thai red curry milk bread The coconut-curry sauce gives it almost a sweet garlicky taste which we found to be delicious! With the coconut-curry sauce Seriously, this bread service is a staple and a great way to kick off your meal here without eating an appetizer that will weigh on you before your main entree arrives. Then we turned our attention to the real star of this particular review, the new Tiffins Signature Burger. The restaurant must be pretty proud of this one because we saw it advertised and heard multiple servers talking it up as we were browsing our menu deciding on what else we’d like to order. So you know we had to put it to the test! Tiffins Signature Burger This burger is made of an in-house burger blend, aged cheddar, demi-glace, and Parker House roll buns and served with seasoned waffle fries for $28. We have sung this burger’s praises already individually but if this is your first go-around with this new entree, we’ll clue you in here as well! Tiffins Signature Burger The chef recommended a medium rare temperature for this burger to be best enjoyed so that’s what we ordered. This means that while it’s going to be darker on the edges, the inside will have a brighter pink tint to the meat. This burger really IS something to talk about though! The aged cheddar comes through first and when it’s served to you you can see the juices just oozing out of it. You’ll get a few hints of charbroiled grilling to it and it’s a tad on the salty side. The Parker House roll bun was the perfect choice because it gives just enough sweetness to counterbalance the savory taste of the signature burger blend. Inside of the burger The seasoned waffle fries have a great spicy and salty flavor to them and dipping them in the garlic aioli sauce really gave it an even better flavor combo. Seasoned waffle fries We thought this entree was an exceptional addition to the menu and highly recommend that you try it out on your next visit to Tiffins! Then it was time to move on to dessert! For this visit, we opted for the White-Chocolate Orange Crème Brûlée which is made of blueberry cardamom curd, Amarula ice cream, orange chutney, Sellou cookie, Ras el Hanout candy crunch and costs $15. White-Chocolate Orange Crème Brûlée This dessert is stunning when it’s brought out to your table and looks so good that you almost don’t want to eat it (until you realize the ice cream is melting and you snap back into reality). The crème brûlée is next level! Inside of the desert It really tastes just like you would expect a whole chocolate orange crème brûlée would, kind of like those chocolate oranges that taste like orange but also with the flavor of crème brûlée. The Amarula ice cream has a sweet cream vanilla but almost banana flavor to it making it feel very tropical against the orange chutney. A bite! We would totally order this one over and over again for repeat visits but after such a big meal, it was a little harder to finish it all so you might want to consider sharing it with someone if you’re planning a full meal and not just an appetizer or entree to pair with it. Overall Overall to say we enjoyed our meal and service wouldn’t do it justice. We thought everything we ate far exceeded our expectations and our server was extremely attentive (to all of their tables, not just ours — we took notice) and we can’t rave about how great this experience was enough. So much food! While Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to several great places to pick up food (mostly from quick-service restaurants) if you’re looking for a place to sit down and have a good meal that’s actually worth its cost, we definitely recommend you make a reservation to stop by Tiffins Restaurant. Nosh Or Not? Make plans to stop and dine at Tiffins Restaurant if… You’re looking for signature dining with incredible theming. There’s just nowhere else like Tiffins Restaurant in all of Disney World. They’ve got so many fun details and decor to spot throughout the restaurant that it’s hard to see it all the first time around. This is a repeat restaurant for sure. You’re tired of the same ol’ theme park food. If you’re looking for more to your meal than just a standard mass-produced burger, hot dog, or pizza then give Tiffins Restaurant a try! We don’t think you’ll be disappointed. You’re a nature or history buff who loves a good story. Storytelling is at the heart of everything Disney World tries to accomplish and this restaurant is no exception. They’ve created a whole backstory to the restaurant’s name that ties into the South Asian culture and incorporates elements that you would find in that region of the world within the decor. You’ll probably do better grabbing food elsewhere at Disney’s Animal Kingdom if… You’re looking to stay budget-conscious with your meal. Tiffins Restaurant is a signature dining restaurant at Disney World which means while their food is probably higher quality than you can find around most of the rest of the park, you’ll pay a higher price for them here. You’re not an adventurous eater. If your taste buds just aren’t the kind that craves anything outside of what you’re typically comfortable with eating, you might not like all of the spices and flavors that go into a lot of the meals here. Everything from the bread service to the dessert had some very inventive flavors that go beyond just the plain “standard” for how you would typically have in mind for them to taste. The idea of this meal sounds great, but you’re not visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately, if we’ve already hooked you on the idea of the restaurant, the only way you’re getting in for a reservation is if you have valid park admission for the day you’re choosing to dine here. While this restaurant can’t be accessed unless you DO have park admission for the day, if you find yourself facing this very scenario and really don’t want to go far to grab your next meal, the Rainforest Cafe at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a table service restaurant that DOES NOT require park admission to enter it as it sits just outside the park’s entrance. 16. EPCOT has seen TONS of changes lately with the opening of the CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, new live entertainment, and a popular ride closing for an extended refurbishment, but it seems that the changes still keep coming. EPCOT dedication plaque With all of these huge changes coming at us so fast, sometimes the smaller changes aren’t as noticeable unless you’ve got a trained eye like we do! We spotted a significant, but subtle change that stumped us. With so many BIG changes that have happened lately around Disney World, its sometimes can overshadow some of the smaller details that also hold significance. While EPCOT is certainly no stranger to massive changes we thought things might have started to quiet down after its park transformation had been completed. EPCOT Monorail Most of EPCOT’s original rides and attractions from its early days are no longer featured within the park, however, we’ve spotted new nods to them around the mural outside of the Mickey & Friends meet and greet. CommuniCore Hall But, that doesn’t mean the smaller changes are losing steam either. On a recent visit to EPCOT, we noticed something had been removed that held a significant value for the park. Entrance of EPCOT EPCOT’s entrance has long been the home for the park’s dedication plaque which was one of the subtle features that held a nostalgic connection to the “old” EPCOT. Now, it seems that EPCOT has taken this up from its permanent location. EPCOT’s dedication plaque has been removed You’ve probably walked right by this area multiple times as you’ve visited EPCOT and hardly paid attention to it. If you’re not remembering what it looked like, here’s what this space looked like before its removal. EPCOT Entrance We’re not sure how long the plaque will be missing from this spot, or if it is planned to return in the same place, relocated, or return at all. But, we’ll certainly be keeping a sharp eye out for it in its absence. We’re constantly looking out for all the latest changes around Disney World no matter how big or small. 17. Are you going to be traveling this summer? Orlando International Airport There’s a lot that goes into preparing for your trip like getting the right hotel for you and the family, scoring the best prices on airfare, and making the reservations for the restaurants y’all with nosh at! But now, there’s another thing that could seriously wreck your plans. We’re talking about travel scams! Let’s get into it! Yes, you read that right. Over the past year and a half, there’s been a MASSIVE spike in travel scams (phishing scams) from 500 to 900%! What is the deal?! Well, according to BBC, Booking.com’s internet safety boss Marnie Wilking is pointing the finger squarely at Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the culprit. ©Getty Images (Marnie Wilking from Booking.com) Now, phishing isn’t exactly the new kid on the block. It’s been around since the dawn of email. There have been an untold number of people who have been tricked into handing over their precious financial details. But here’s the real kicker: now with AI in the mix, these phishing scams are more convincing than ever. Gone are the days of easily spotting a scam email that was riddled with typos and awkward grammar. Today’s phishing emails look incredibly legit, with realistic images and perfect text even in multiple languages. ©Genmar.com.uk So, what are these scammers up to? They’re crafting fake booking links that look just like the real deal. This is especially bad for platforms like Booking.com and Airbnb since people can list their own rentals. Imagine this: you think you’re booking a cute Parisian flat, but the next thing you know, you’re out of hundreds of dollars and stuck sleeping on a park bench instead of having the perfect Eiffel Tower view you planned for. ©Airbnb.com It’s not all gloom and doom when it comes to AI though. Booking.com is fighting fire with fire and using AI models to take down fake listings before you can even click “book.” Still, that doesn’t mean that “we” as travelers are off the hook. ©Booking.com Here are some tips on what you can do to help protect yourself: Two-factor authentication needs to be your BFF: If the booking site offers it, you should enable it. This adds an extra security step which makes it harder for scammers to steal your info. Be a link detective: Don’t just click on anything that’s in your inbox. Make it a habit of yours to hover over links to see the real URL before clicking. If it looks fishy, don’t trust it! Do your own research: Scour the internet for reviews, check out the contact info on websites (most legit businesses will have a phone number), and consider booking packages instead of piecing deals together separately. Pay with a credit card: You’ll tend to have the most amount of protection if you can pay with a credit card since most offer some form of fraud protection. Flying Remember, a little bit of vigilance can go a long way. Be smart and keep these tips in mind when you’re working on your travel plans. Looking for more recent travel news? 18. The day we’ve all been waiting for is ALMOST here! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The grand opening of the highly anticipated attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is less than a week away! And we’ve got a few important things you need to know in order to be prepared for the big day. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be opening to all guests on June 28th and the hype is real for this new addition to the Magic Kingdom! Cast Member and Annual Passholder previews have been ongoing for the past few weeks and we’ve had a first look at the brand-new store, exclusive souvenirs, and themed snacks that will be available on opening day. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes place a year after the events of The Princess and the Frog. Tiana’s dream of opening up her very own restaurant has come true and she’s decided to host a Mardi Gras party for everyone in New Orleans in appreciation for all their support! However, during the big celebration, Tiana realizes that the party is “missing a key ingredient” and she needs to find it. That’s where YOU come in to help, and accompanied by Louis, the quest for the “missing ingredient” is on! What’s the missing ingredient exactly? The best band in the Bayou, that’s what! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be using a Virtual Queue on opening day, just like Tron Lightcycle/Run also at Magic Kingdom, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind over at EPCOT. This system will also be used after the opening date until Disney announces the switch to a standby queue, which they plan to do “soon after the attraction’s opening.” The virtual queue can be accessed through the My Disney Experience App where Guests have 2 daily opportunities to join — the first is at 7AM, and the second at 1PM. Guests requesting to join the virtual queue at 7AM do not have to be inside Magic Kingdom. If you’re trying to join the 1PM virtual queue, however, you have to be INSIDE Magic Kingdom. Click HERE for a Complete Guide on Virtual Queues in Disney World The regular virtual queue will look similar to this Passholder version. Along with being available with a Virtual Queue, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will also be available as an option on Disney Genie+. To ride, you can purchase Genie+ for Magic Kingdom (or get the multi-park Genie+ option) and reserve a Lightning Lane for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Learn everything you need to know about reserving a Lightning Lane using Disney Genie+ HERE. Tiana and Louis And just like ol’ Splash Mountain before it, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will feature an on-ride attraction photo! All riders can check out their photo and purchase them through Disney PhotoPass (via the My Disney Experience app) after riding down the Bayou. The photos are primarily captured when guests wear MagicBand or MagicBand+ while on the ride, but those that aren’t wearing one can find instructions for the on-ride photos posted at the attraction so that they don’t miss out on the fun! ©Disney And last but not least, on OPENING DAY ONLY (June 28th, 2024), guests may opt to purchase an EXCLUSIVE commemorative print package at Tiana’s Bayou General Store, located at the exit of the attraction. This will be sold in addition to the standard attraction photo prints. Click HERE to find out about this VERY Limited-Time (ONE DAY ONLY!) Souvenir! 21. What’s better than a good Disney snack? How about a good Disney snack HACK? Animal Kingdom We’re back with another round of our favorite snack-hack game where we let you in on how you can order a snack at Disney World and, with a few easy steps, make it 10x better. Today is extra fun because we’re taking a walk down memory lane and sharing a hack for a snack we all wish was back at the parks. Ready? Let’s go! Our snack hack harkens back to a beloved, but sadly extinct treat: the Peter Pan Float! This float was available at the Magic Kingdom at Storybook Treats and consisted of Key Lime soft serve paired with Sprite, and topped with a chocolate feather decorated to look just like the one on Peter Pan’s hat. This was an iconic treat but sadly it flew out of Disney World a few years ago and hasn’t returned since. We miss you, Peter Pan Float, and your delicious Key Lime ice cream However, our DFB foodie scientists got to work and came up with a brilliant concoction that brings this once-lost snack back into our lives! So for all our Peter Pan Float fans, fear not, because we found a way for you to enjoy this yummy treat once again (and there’s no need to figure out how to create a time machine to do it). In order to accomplish this snack hack, you’re gonna want to head over to Animal Kingdom and head directly to Trilo-Bites in Dino-Land U.S.A. This kiosk offers treats to keep you cool, like ice cream and milkshakes, as well as savory snacks like those tasty Buffalo Chicken Chips. And they also feature Dole Whips here as well, like this brightly colored Zazu-themed one. Zazu Dole Whip Lime and Coconut Float Which, if you take a look at the menu, is made up of some familiar ingredients… . See where we’re going with this? Once you step up to the window, all you have to do is order a Zazu Float, but ask them to please hold the coconut swirl. And there you go! You have yourself a dupe for the Peter Pan Float. We’d say this DIY float tastes exactly like the Peter Pan Float, since both feature lime Dole Whip and Sprite. The only thing missing is the little chocolate feather, which was cute and we do miss it; but it definitely doesn’t change how refreshing this is. We’re so glad we found a way to enjoy this snack once again (see, like I said, no time machine required). And there you have it! A snack hack that no longer has us wishing for the good ‘ol days, but instead curious about what other gone-but-not-forgotten snacks we can try to recreate. 22. Souvenirs are all part of the Disney World experience. You walk into the Emporium on Main Street USA, take one look at the colorfully stocked shelves, and before you know it your arms are full of 5 stuffed animals, 2 mugs, and a Spirit Jersey, and you’re standing there wondering “How did this even happen?” Magic Kingdom Yup, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of buying souvenirs during your Disney trip. But as your friends here at DFB, we’re gonna let you in on the souvenirs you should totally stay away from and save a bit of that extra cha-ching in your pocket for something a little more worth it (and maybe even an extra snack or two). DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Stay away from balloons! We get it. They’re colorful, they float, and sometimes they feature your favorite Disney characters. But it’s a trap, we tell ya! Balloons are fun in the moment, sure, but one POP! and it’s bye-bye souvenir. Another big con to purchasing balloons is that they are not allowed inside of Animal Kingdom. Balloons! Yup, if you’re planning to park hop to Animal Kingdom at any point during the day, we’re sorry to inform you but your new inflatable pal can’t come with you. Also, if you’re traveling with a stroller and plan to tie the balloon to it, you’ll be smacking a lot of people in the face all day, including yourself (those floating menaces, tsk tsk). Disney World Balloons However, Disney World is the place where dreams come true, so if your heart still desires a balloon, just keep in mind that you can have it deflated at the Disney Store in the airport. Once you’re back home, you can take it to any place offering helium and have it re-inflated. A happy ending for all! We must end the reign of Bubble Wands once and for all! Ok, we’re joking here. We love bubbles as much as the next person, but bubble wands at the Magic Kingdom can cost a pretty penny. And all for maybe a couple minutes of playtime before either the bubble solution runs out (oh — and heads up ’cause that stuff will get all over the inside of your park bag) or the kids get tired of holding that heavy bulky thing all day. Yeah, no, I think we’ll pass. Ariel Bubble Wands We do understand though, that sometimes the joy that lights up your kiddo’s face when they see the first cloud of bubbles float from out of their wands is absolutely worth it. So if you want to gift them that experience but rather save your Disney bucks, we recommend purchasing them online. ©DisneyStore The Disney Store official website has a ton of great character-themed bubble wands, including this adorable Sorcerer Mickey-themed one, and they are currently FREE with a $100 purchase (just use code GIFT at checkout!). This is a great opportunity to buy those souvenirs you’ve been eyeing while also getting a bubble wand and avoiding the extra cost of it at the parks. Shop this Bubble Wand at the Disney Store! Ponchos will possibly be a big regret. When we think of a perfect trip to Disney World, we picture clear skies and warm weather. However, in Florida, that’s not always the case. So now you’re at Magic Kingdom and it’s pouring rain and you’re left with no choice but to purchase a poncho as your souvenir. An expensive one at that. You’ll see a sea of ponchos! So even if you’re fantasizing about picturesque weather, we think you should definitely be prepared and purchase a poncho online where they’re priced reasonably. That way you won’t be forced to shell out for one at the parks (because why buy a poncho as a souvenir when there’s plenty of better stuff you can purchase at Magic Kingdom? Like bubble wands! J/K LOL). Rain Jacket This rain poncho comes in a pack of 2 and is still wayyyy less than the price tag of one at the parks. And because they’re designed as a rain jacket, they’re a lot easier to put on and take off — something that will come in handy with how unpredictable the weather in Orlando can be. Better quality and a better price? Count us in! Shop this Rain Poncho on Amazon! Autograph books? We’ll pass. Autograph books are a great keepsake. You have a fun way to interact with characters and a great way to remember all your Disney trip memories. But this souvenir suffers from the same issue as most of the items on this list: they are CHEAPER ONLINE! And sadly, Disney World doesn’t offer price matches. Pluto giving his autograph! So although we’re not saying these are souvenirs you should avoid, we do think it’s best you purchase them online beforehand. A lot of these autograph books feature popular characters and have really fun designs, making them a great alternative choice to the ones at the parks. This Disney-themed autograph book features all our favorite Disney pals. It even comes with the cutest Mickey pen! With all the fireworks in the background and a classic castle, it’s the perfect souvenir to bring with you to the parks and to keep after as a reminder of all your fondest trip memories. Shop this Autograph Book on Amazon! Fuel Rods OK, you’ve probably heard all about FuelRods because we truly do swear by them; BUT, we think it’s a much better option to avoid purchasing them at the parks and buying them online instead. FuelRods For the price of one FuelRod at the parks, you can get 2 on Amazon, along with cables and adapters! And even if you purchase them online, they can still be switched out for fully charged ones at the FuelRod kiosks inside of the Disney parks. A definite win-win. Look at you thinking ahead! Shop this FuelRod on Amazon! It’s a no for the Minnie Ears Finally, the controversial Minnie Ears. But before you come for us (and we totally get why) hear us out for a sec. We love Minnie Ears as much as the next person, but we’re not gonna lie and say that the ones at Disney World aren’t EXPENSIVE. And although it makes us look and feel adorable, it’s sometimes not worth the (literal) headache we get from wearing them. Stitch Munchlings ears We’re not saying you should avoid getting them entirely, though. The truth is, you can find more comfortable pairs of Minnie Ears online! Not only that, but you can find really unique ones with stunning designs themed after characters, attractions, your favorite treats, and more! The best part? They’re a whole lot cheaper, too! And there you have it. Some Disney World souvenirs you’ll regret buying in Magic Kingdom. Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest and greatest tips, tricks, and Disney news! 23. For YEARS now (literally, years) a serious battle has been going on between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company (first with former CEO Bob Chapek and then with current CEO Bob Iger). But things have finally changed in a major way. Disney vs. DeSantis Legislation, press conferences, official statements, and MORE — this battle has involved everything from a federal lawsuit to threats of building a state prison next to Disney World. It has been one interesting ride — so what’s happened now? Well, let us get you up to speed. A Quick Background If you’re just jumping into this battle scene, allow us to give you a quick summary. “Don’t Say Gay” January 2022 — The Parental Rights in Education Bill was introduced in Florida (this is what critics often refer to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill). It was later passed and signed into law. Throughout 2022 — Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek indicated that corporate statements do little to change people’s minds and thus Disney didn’t really issue strong statements on the bill initially. Disney was heavily criticized by some for its failure to respond to the bill. Chapek later made statements indicating that Disney opposed the bill. Disney ultimately issued a statement saying that the law should not have been passed and the Company’s goal would be for the law to be repealed or struck down. March 2022 — DeSantis criticized Disney’s response, saying they “crossed a line.” ©Governor Ron DeSantis Website Reedy Creek Improvement District April 2022 — Following this, legislation was passed (and signed into law) to dissolve Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District — the special district under which they had operated for over 50 years in Orlando. Disney had a large influence over Reedy Creek as it could elect its Board of Supervisors, putting in individuals who were “friendly” to Disney’s interests. November 2022 — Chapek was removed as Disney’s CEO and Iger returned. February 2023 — Legislation was quickly passed (and signed into law) regarding Reedy Creek. Reedy Creek would not be dissolved but instead would continue to exist under a new name (the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District) with a board appointed by the Governor. 2023 — The Governor appointed the new board and they started to take action in the District. Reedy Creek The Lawsuits March 2023 — A big battle started over some agreements made between Disney and the old Board of Supervisors of the District before the new board was appointed. The new board argued those agreements stripped them of power and weren’t entered into properly. Why were these agreements such a big deal? Well, they set forth a number of powers Disney would have in terms of developments on the property in the District within the next several years. April 2023 — The new board declared these agreements invalid. April 2023 — Disney sued DeSantis and the new Board of Supervisors of the District in federal court. May 2023 — The Board filed a lawsuit of its own against Disney in state court. May 2023 — DeSantis signed a law to invalidate the agreements at issue. December 2023 — Further issues arise regarding the District’s production of certain documents following requests, leading Disney to file a state court lawsuit against the District. Feeling lost? You’re probably not alone! At that point, there were 3 main lawsuits — Federal court lawsuit — filed by Disney against the Board of Supervisors and DeSantis State court lawsuit #1 — filed by the District against Disney State court lawsuit #2 — filed by Disney against the District WHEW. ©Governor Ron DeSantis Website A Settlement Is Revealed The battle continued until March of 2024 when a settlement between the parties was revealed. Under the terms of the settlement agreement: Disney agreed that the Development Agreement (as well as some other documents/plans) was null and void The District agreed to amend the Comprehensive Plan with consultation from Disney Both Disney and the District agreed to dismiss the state court cases ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream So, the state court cases have essentially been resolved since March of 2024, but the federal case was still pending, leaving one string still loose. The parties were, however, working toward a settlement. And now that settlement has finally become a reality. In mid-June 2024, a new Development Agreement was approved by the District. This helps to really move things forward in terms of approving the use of space within the District for the creation of future parks, etc. Soon after, the final nail was pounded into the coffin of this lengthy war. In June, Disney agreed to dismiss the federal lawsuit, and a motion was filed to make that happen. On June 18th, an order was entered to dismiss the federal appeal – marking the end of this era. So…That’s It? What Happens Now? Well, the battle between Disney and DeSantis is over…for now, but Disney and the District have a long road ahead of them. Ultimately, Disney must function within the District under its current format, and the District must find a way to work with its largest landowner. Disney still needs to meet certain requirements under the new Development Agreement, and the Board of Supervisors for the District (which continues to be selected by Governor DeSantis) will keep making decisions and passing regulations that will impact Disney and its operations. ©Reedy Creek Meeting Livestream (April 19th Meeting) But, it seems both sides are more dedicated than ever to finding solutions that’ll keep them out of the courthouse…at least for now. CNN points out that after the vote approving the new Development Agreement between Disney and the District, Brian Aungst Jr. (a member of the Board of Supervisors) said this was “the day we have all been very much looking forward to.” Disney also expressed a sense of positivity, with the president of Walt Disney World Resort (Jeff Vahle) saying “This new development agreement paves the way for us to invest billions of dollars in Walt Disney World Resort, supporting the growth of this global destination, fueling the Florida economy, and allowing us to deliver even more memorable and extraordinary experiences for our guests.” Magic Kingdom In terms of big things that are still lingering around, the chair position for the Board of Supervisors of the District remains open, so it will be interesting to see who ultimately is selected for that position. Technically, there’s also a lawsuit in Miami-Dade County, Florida regarding Reedy Creek that is “open” (2022-9114-CA-01 — EDUARDO FORONDA ET AL VS RON DESANTIS ET AL). That lawsuit, however, was filed by Florida taxpayers against DeSantis, arguing that the changes made to Reedy Creek would violate taxpayer rights. The latest action in that case was filed in December of 2023, when a request for a hearing was made on a motion to change the venue of the case. No action has been taken on that case for quite some time according to the case docket that is viewable online and Disney is not a party to the case. EPCOT In terms of the political world, Disney is back to making political donations so things are largely heading back to “normal” there. And within the District, the Board will need to update the Comprehensive Plan by the third quarter of 2025 (which gives them quite a bit of time). New developments and regulations within the District could lead to new debates, but at least there’s a path forward now.
