  1. MAJOR changes are coming to a classic Disney Attraction, and many fans – – myself included – – are a bit torn on it. Carousel of Progress Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress has been operating in one form or another since its debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. The animatronic stage show initially followed a family through the technological advancements of the early 1900s through the mid-1900s, ending in a 1960s-vision of the near future. Following the Fair, the show was moved to Disneyland for about a decade before being shipped back across the country to Walt Disney World. Over the years, the attraction was intermittently updated, with the most recent major upgrade coming in 1994. While the show has its fans – – myself VERY much included – – it is fair to say that the show has been feeling a bit stale for a while now. After all, the “near-future” ending sequence still name-drops the upcoming turn of the millennium. Carousel of Progress That’s why many films welcomed the 2025 announcement that Carousel of Progress would be undergoing a refurbishment. At the time, it was confirmed that the show would include a Walt Disney animatronic in the introduction similar to the one seen at Disneyland, though few other details were announced at the time. ©Disney After months of waiting, Disney finally released more details on the refurbishment, and it’s much bigger than most Disney fans anticipated. To keep the Carousel of Progress “relatable for today’s audiences,” the entire show is being reworked, with a new structure featuring acts based on the 1960s (itself harkening back to the decade the show originally debuted), the 1980s, the 1999-turn of the millennium, and a “possible future” that will imagine a time where “extraordinary innovation has become part of life and proves that a beautiful tomorrow is just a dream away.” According to Disney, the attraction will close on July 6th for its transformation, with an estimated reopening in 2027. ©Disney When I first heard the details of the refurbishment, like many Disney fans, I was a bit taken aback. As a Disney fan who’s admittedly a bit of a classicist, I was initially turned off. While I did think that the finale needed to be replaced (sorry, Flying Ace Granny), I was a bit concerned about the rest of the show. As I wrote at the time, “… the attraction has been both a progress-focused look at the future, while at the same time being a nostalgic look at the past. That latter element has become even more important to the presentation in the last three decades, as the show has been treated almost as a museum-style tribute to Walt Disney. My slight fear is that, while some changes are necessary, Disney may alter the first three acts of the show so much that they don’t resemble the classic version of the show, and in turn lose that aforementioned museum-like tribute quality. This would be especially ironic considering the addition of the Walt animatronic.” What will the future bring? However, as I read about the upcoming changes and Disney’s reasoning for them, I have admittedly done a 180-degree turn. Mainly because, while there are elements of the classic Carousel of Progress that I will miss for nostalgia’s sake, I do believe that the attraction’s message of a hopeful future is one that needs to be relatable to modern audiences, and right now it’s not. ©Disney The 1960s are as far away from the 2020s as the early 1900s were from the 1960s when the original debuted. Modern audiences have their own time periods to look back on, and their own “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” to look forward to. The “Resident Flying Ace” is about to be grounded. Disney is making major changes to the Carousel of Progress beginning this July. Stay tuned to DFB for further updates on this project. 4 Abandoned and Creepy Parts of Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 2. We’re just a few short days away from the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Disney+, and to celebrate, we just got to do something EXTREMELY cool! ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ ©Disney To celebrate the release of the film on the streaming platform, Walt Disney Theater in Orlando, Florida hosted the US premiere of Avatar in Concert, combining the beloved film with the incredibly powerful art of a live orchestra. We were so thrilled to be invited to the event, which left us not only thrilled to see the third installment of the franchise again on our screens at home, but also reminded us just how stunning and immersive the original 2009 film is. You’ve likely heard of other films being “in concert” before, and this followed a similar pattern. This was an experience where the original Avatar film was shown on a big screen and was accompanied by a live performance of James Horner’s score by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera Orlando. The orchestra was conducted by John Jesensky, and the performance also featured “ethnic flutes and whistles” by Eric Rigler and vocals by Eleanor Grant. We’re here! What absolutely blew our minds about this experience was how balanced the orchestra and vocals were with the original film, which had all of its music taken out, so every note we heard was live. In fact, the balance was so precise and the execution so flawless that at times it was difficult to remember you were listening to a live orchestra at all! We also have to give a special shout-out to the vocals performed by Eleanor Grant — to say she nailed it would be a massive understatement! What an incredible night! However, we do feel the need to point out that we did hear audience members saddened by the fact that there was no face paint, as was originally stated to be offered, and there was also no special merchandise for the event. We heard several longtime fans note that exclusive merchandise has often been part of previous film concert presentations, and the empty merchandise location was easily the biggest source of disappointment among attendees. Instead, the area where it’s been in the past was just used for seating. Only seating, no merchandise Again, though, the actual show itself was incredible, and it amazes us every time we see Avatar how well it holds up. The movie remains ahead of its time, and it’s wild to think that these incredible visual effects were done 16 years ago! It was a great way to get us excited for the Disney+ release of the newest film, which we’ll absolutely be putting on our TVs first thing on June 24th. More Recent Disney Media News! 4. We love going to Epic Universe for an epic park day. Where else can you ride dragons, battle wizards, face monsters, and race in Mario Kart all in one day? Epic Universe! Well, we have some massive Epic Universe news – the park is about to get even bigger. Universal just filed a brand-new permit for a 71,500-square-foot structure at Epic Universe! According to the Orlando Business Journal, Universal just filed a brand-new permit for a 71,500-square-foot structure at Epic Universe at 1001 Epic Blvd. The permit doesn’t include a project description, though records indicate the building’s category covers recreational, social, or sauna facilities. Luna lights up the night in Celestial Park Because of the building’s size, it will likely be a medium-sized attraction or a live entertainment venue. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is roughly 71,000 square feet, and The Untrainable Dragon show in the Isle of Berk spans around 70,000 square feet. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge The contractor is Stantec Architecture, which is a frequent collaborator of Universal’s. In addition to this new project, it’s building project 915 in Celestial Park, a two-story multi-purpose event space. From their portfolio, we’re pretty sure that this new space will be a theater or a similar entertainment venue. ©Bioreconstruct on X When we looked back at Epic Universe’s concept art, we saw that Dark Universe originally included a theater that didn’t make it into the final park. While we’re not sure what the show would entail, it fits within the permit’s square footage and aligns with Stantc Architecture’s theatrical background. ©Universal We’ll be sure to update you on all the new Epic Universe construction. 7. Sometimes it feels like you can see closures or construction in Disney World practically everywhere you look. EPCOT Right now, EPCOT is the park with the least construction, partly due to the fact that it’s the only park not getting an entire new land. However, if you look closely, you’ll find small projects throughout the park, like La Poutinerie, which has a planned opening date of July 1st. Another one is about to join the list, though, and we’ll be without this World Showcase store for a few months. Over in the France Pavilion, one of the stores you’ll find is La Signature, where you can check out 70 different French cosmetics and fragrances from Guerlain, and also get a makeup consultation, if you so desire! France Pavilion It’s a smaller store, and many people walk right by it, but we’ve enjoyed popping in to see what they have every now and then, especially if we just need a breath of AC for a second. We won’t be able to step into the store for a while, though, because it’ll be closing temporarily beginning June 29th. It’s expected to open later in 2026, but no official date has been set. France Pavilion in EPCOT Guerlain merchandise from La Signature will be available at Plume Et Palette, located nearby, for the time being, so if you were really looking forward to checking out what’s offered, don’t worry, you won’t miss out. It might make the store a bit more crowded than normal, so keep that in mind. More Recent EPCOT News! FOOD NEWS! 9. While there wasn’t much news from inside the actual Disney World parks this past week, we did get TONS of news that will soon affect Disney Springs and Disney’s BoardWalk. ©Disney For months now, there have been empty buildings over at the BoardWalk, and while there have been permits filed, there has been no official announcement as to what is on the way. Until now, that is, because this past week, Disney revealed exactly what’s coming to the BoardWalk, and we also got some exciting updates about Disney Springs projects in the works! Over in Disney Springs, Columbia Sportswear will be reopening on July 24th, and Six Ravens took a big step forward with new signage and decor on the outside of the building. Additionally, we got the news that Level99 will officially be opening on June 29th, and tickets will go on sale beginning June 22nd. Future location of Level99 Let’s take a look at all the current closures taking place in Disney World from June 19th through June 26th. Magic Kingdom Storybook Circus Pete’s Silly Sideshow is temporarily unavailable as of January 4th, 2026. This is the Storybook Circus meet and greet area, where you can meet Donald Duck, Goofy, Daisy Duck, and Minnie Mouse as they join the circus. Good news, though! While Pete’s Silly Sideshow will be closed, you can still meet all of the characters! You will find Goofy and Minnie at the entrance to Storybook Circus, and you can find Donald and Daisy in the back of Storybook Circus by the restrooms. Pete’s Silly Sideshow However, now there’s ANOTHER closure in the land as well. Big Top Souvenirs closed on February 20th, and Disney has said it’ll “reopen for guests to enjoy later this year,” but there’s no date in sight. When we stopped by recently, we noticed that the entire top of the store is GONE right now! Talk about a jump scare! The tent disappeared! We’re really curious to see how this all turns out, so we’ll keep you updated! Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some updates to the concrete on the land, as well as leveling taking place for the new attractions — how exciting! Piston Peak construction Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. Disney Shared a Behind-the-Scenes Look at the NEW Cinderella Castle Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Parts of) Animation Courtyard Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. The courtyard area, new Disney Jr. show, and meet and greet station for Sofia the First and SupeKitties officially opened on May 26th, but we’re still waiting for the other sections of the area to open. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters, complete with the return of the Sorcerer Mickey hat! The Magic of Disney Animation in Walt Disney Studios This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area that we can’t wait to see! Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, Disney released new information about Monstropolis, saying that “Monstropolis — the monster city now powered by laughter — is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from their world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … why are the doors finally opening to us?” ©Disney We’ll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day, with Disney continuing to say, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” ©Disney It’s also been fully confirmed that Harryhausen’s will be one of the restaurants in the new land, which we’re beyond excited to experience. If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! 3 Changes Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Next Month EPCOT La Poutinerie Refreshment Port, located near the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase, closed for refurbishment on January 12th. We know that when it reopens, it’ll become La Poutinerie, and Disney recently revealed some of the menu to us, as well as let us know that it’ll officially open on July 1st. ©Disney The spot will be sponsored by Air Canada, and promises to deliver “a Canadian classic with a twist.” We’re stoked! The Weird Disney World Rule You Must Plan For at the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, thanks to an update by @bioreconstruct on X, we can see that the walls have been cast and placed for the Casita in front of the Encanto dark ride. via @bioreconstruct We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride! via @bioreconstruct This new land is shaping up nicely! It will have three new rides – a carousel featuring classic Disney animals, an Indiana Jones ride where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and an Encanto ride that invites you into the Madrigals’ home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. 4 Abandoned and Creepy Parts of Disney World Disney World Hotels Boat Dock — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Starting on May 11th, the Boat Dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort became unavailable for guests to use due to refurbishment. The dock is closed! Boat transportation was unavailable through June 5th, but has now reopened. Though construction on the dock as a whole will continue through late June. It’s not too bad, but this does mean the only way to get from the hotel to Magic Kingdom is to take the Monorail or walk. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Additionally, exterior elevator landing repairs will be taking place through late May 2026. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort For those looking to dine at this hotel, you need to know that the Turf Club Bar & Grill and Turf Club Lounge will both be under refurbishment from mid-March through mid-September 2026. Turf Club Bar & Grill In early April, the Turf Club Lounge will close for refurbishment and will reopen in early August. In the meantime, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu. Then, from early to mid-August, the Turf Club patio will close for refurbishment, and finally, from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment, but the Turf Club Lounge will be open. Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance. The maintenance could affect views and may require alternate routes at times. In addition, two of the resort’s leisure pools will close for routine maintenance. Tidal Pool At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Guests may see or hear construction work, but it will only be done during the daytime hours. Yachtsman Steakhouse — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort On May 11th, Yachtsman Steakhouse officially closed for refurbishment. Yachtsman Steakhouse The restaurant is expected to open sometime in early August, though no official date has been set. Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s BoardWalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney just filed permits for the BoardWalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles” earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, we’re thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the BoardWalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resort’s classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as “both timeless and distinctly new.” Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th. 2025 and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. It was just recently revealed, though, that a new lounge will be coming to the BoardWalk! ©Disney The new lounge will be called Hurly-Burly and will be a “fun-filled afternoons and glamorous evenings inside a historic seaside theatre with a vibrant BoardWalk story that spans over a century.” Based on the concept art revealed, it’s looking like the former JellyRolls building would be the best fit for this spot, but we’re also waiting to see where the new quick-service restaurant announced for the BoardWalk will be going! It can carry any size water bottle between 18 and 64oz, and it even has a zipper pouch on the front for your phone or other small items. VIEW ON AMAZON Next, check out this Mickey Mouse Misting Fan LACOVIA Cute Mouse Misting Mini Fan This fan is adorable and an absolute lifesaver when you’re visiting Disney World in the summer. VIEW ON AMAZON Then you have to check out this Disney Waterproof Bag ©Amazon This bag is so cute and features lots of fun little Disney details. Then our favorite feature is the adjustable strap on the hood, which prevents any water from seeping in around your face. 12. Disney World had an annoying problem – if you wanted a crispy soda straight from the fountain, you’d have to go to a quick-service restaurant, often with long lines and no open tables. The popcorn carts and outdoor food stands didn’t have a soda machine for your soda fix – but that just massively changed! Nothing beats a crispy Diet Coke and a walk in front of the castle! When we heard that some popcorn carts and snack stands in Disney World started offering fountain drinks, we had to investigate. We learned that yes, the rumors are true, and yes, you can get a crispy fountain soda at select popcorn carts now! But then we wondered, which ones? After a full week of investigating, we compiled a comprehensive list of what popcorn carts, snack stands, and outdoor vending spots offer bottled vs fountain drinks across all of Disney World! Here’s the full list sorted by park: Magic Kingdom Main Street, U.S.A. Main Street Popcorn Cart in front of the Chamber of Commerce – bottled drinks Left side of The Hub by Adventureland – fountain drinks Right side The Hub by Tomorrowland – fountain drinks Fantasyland Ice cream carts – bottled drinks Maurice’s Amazing Popcorn Machine – bottled drinks Price Eric’s Village Market – bottled drinks Storybook Circus Popcorn Carts – bottled drinks Frontierland Popcorn cart – bottled drinks Westward Ho – fountain drinks Frontierland Churro Cart – bottled drinks Liberty Square Ice cream carts – bottled drinks Popcorn cart – bottled drinks Liberty Square Market – bottled drinks Tomorrowland Ice cream carts – bottled drinks Adventureland Spring Roll Cart – bottled drinks Popcorn cart – bottled drinks Magic Kingdom EPCOT World Celebration World Celebration Popcorn Cart – fountain drinks Future World West Popcorn Cart – bottled drinks World Nature The Land Cart – bottled drinks Refreshment Cart by The Seas – bottled drinks World Showcase Canada Popcorn Cart – bottled drinks Kabuki Cafe – bottled drinks Fire and Drum Tavern – fountain drinks Germany carts – bottled drinks Refreshment Outpost – fountain drinks Norway Popcorn Cart – fountain drinks Mexico Popcorn Cart – fountain drinks EPCOT Disney’s Hollywood Studios Hollywood Boulevard Ice cream cart in front of The Hollywood Brown Derby – bottled drinks Hot and Fresh Popcorn in front of Walt Disney Studios – fountain drinks Popcorn cart by Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway – fountain drinks Churro cart by Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway – bottled drinks Sunset Boulevard Anaheim Produce – bottled drinks Ice cream carts – bottled drinks FØØD by Swedish Chef – fountain drinks Pretzel Palooza – bottled drinks The Walt Disney Studios All carts have bottled drinks Echo Lake Oasis Canteen – bottled drinks Grand Avenue Ice Cold Hydraulics – fountain drinks Galaxy Edge All carts and stands sell speciality droid soda bottles Toy Story Land Popcorn carts – fountain drinks All other snack stands sell bottled drinks Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom is the most consistent park yet. 14. We don’t want to sound too dramatic, but things are not going very well at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge right now! Wilderness Lodge This is one of the most popular hotels at Disney World. It has a cabin-like feel to it, almost as if you’re on a camping retreat at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Although the resort is not feeling very magical right now. The Wilderness Lodge is a hot resort right now. No…like literally HOT! The AC has completely shut down across the resort for three days, and they still have not been able to fix whatever issue is going on. Some parts of the hotel you really feel it, while others aren’t so bad. Wilderness Lodge It’s slightly cooler down at Roaring Fork, the quick-service restaurant. We actually found some temporary AC over there, which really helps, especially when enjoying your meal. Overall, things are a little chaotic as Cast Members do their best to accommodate the guests staying at the resort. Temporary AC We found it to be extra hot inside Mercantile. The fridges have also been emptied, and there’s a posted sign saying, “If you’re looking for something specific, ask a Cast Member.” A Cast Member actually came up to us while we were looking in the fridges to help us find something, which was super helpful! Temporary AC We truly feel for everyone staying here and the Cast Members who are working hard to make the best out of the situation. The Cast Members are doing everything they can to help the guests, and they even put an ice water station in the lobby, which was nice and really helped a lot! Ice water station! Some areas are operating normally. Whispering Canyon is still serving food right now, while Territory Lounge and Artists Pointe are both expected to open later. And everything was operating normally at Roaring Fork. Whispering Canyon Cafe Problems are bound to happen, but we’re hoping Disney can solve this issue soon, especially considering how hot it is outside right now. Comic Rewind Disney World wait times have a reputation for being, well, unpredictable. Sure, we can look at past data to get an estimate of the crowd levels in Disney World, but you never know what may happen from year to year. Take a look at this week’s average wait times for proof! 16. Nobody tells you about the gross stuff before your first Disney World trip. VentaPak in Disney World They show you the fireworks, the character meets, the overflowing plates of churros and Dole Whip. What they don’t show you is what happens after mile eight on a 92-degree Florida day when your shoes are soaked, your thighs are on fire, and you’re questioning every life choice that led you to this moment. Disney World is magical, but it’s also a full-contact sport. The good news is that most of these problems are totally fixable if you know what to pack. Here are the nasty realities of a Disney World trip and the products that’ll actually help you survive them. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Chafing ©Amazon This one hits fast and it hits hard. Walking 10-plus miles a day in summer heat means your thighs are going to rub together, your bra straps are going to dig in, and your skin is going to make you regret every step. The Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick is the product that belongs in every park bag, full stop. It creates a friction-free barrier using a clean formula with aloe, pomegranate, and grapeseed oil, and it’s dermatologist approved for sensitive skin. Swipe it on before you leave the hotel and reapply as needed. It doesn’t feel greasy or sticky, and it genuinely prevents the kind of irritation that can ruin an afternoon. view ON AMAZON Backpack Sweat VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer You know the feeling. You take your backpack off after a long stretch and your entire back is soaked through. The Ventapak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer creates a gap between your bag and your back so air can actually circulate. It also redistributes the weight of your bag, which makes a real difference at the end of a long day. Fair warning: you’ll need to tighten your straps for it to work properly, which can make your armpits a little sweatier. But back sweat and back pain? Dramatically reduced. view ON AMAZON Sweat-Soaked Clothing ©Amazon Cotton is not your friend at Disney World. It absorbs sweat, stays wet, and becomes genuinely uncomfortable within the first hour outside. A lightweight athletic dress like the Zhiyouni Women’s Summer Sleeveless Mini Dress is a smarter choice. It’s made from a breathable, stretchy fabric with built-in shorts, a racerback design, and front pockets, because pockets matter. The athletic construction means it wicks and dries far faster than your average park outfit, and it looks cute enough that you won’t feel like you’re wearing workout clothes for 12 hours straight. view ON AMAZON Blisters ©Amazon Even if you wear your most broken-in shoes, there’s a solid chance you’re going to develop a hot spot somewhere around hour five. Pack Dr. Scholl’s Moleskin Padding Strips in your bag before you ever leave home. They’re thin, flexible, and can be cut to any size, so you can target exactly where your shoe is rubbing. Slap one on at the first sign of irritation rather than waiting until a blister fully forms. Your future self will thank you. view ON AMAZON Foot Pain Nortiv 8 Speaking of feet, they are going to take a beating. If you’re still shopping for park shoes, the NORTIV 8 Women’s Walking Shoes are worth a look. They feature a thick EVA midsole for serious cushioning, a breathable mesh upper to keep feet cool, and a slip-resistant rubber outsole for real traction on wet pavement. They’re lightweight, they pair easily with most outfits, and they’re built for exactly the kind of all-day walking that Disney World demands. view ON AMAZON Body Odor ©Amazon Florida heat is relentless, and regular deodorant is often not going to cut it for a full park day. Lume Whole Body Deodorant is aluminum-free, baking soda-free, and designed to control odor anywhere on your body, not just underarms. It’s doctor-developed and safe for sensitive skin. The unscented version is particularly handy if you’re layering it with a fragrance or sunscreen. Pack it in your bag for a midday refresh and you’ll feel significantly more human by the time you’re watching the evening parade. view ON AMAZON Sunscreen Wearing Off We love this thing! You applied sunscreen in the morning. It is now 2 PM. You are standing in direct sun at Magic Kingdom. The e.l.f. SKIN All Set For Sun SPF 45 Setting Spray makes reapplication easy and actually doubles as a makeup setting spray so your look stays intact. It’s clear, leaves no white cast, dries quickly, and is fragrance-free. Infused with watermelon fruit extract and prickly pear seed oil, it’s genuinely skin-loving on top of being functional. Toss it in your bag and spray it over your face throughout the day without any fuss. view ON AMAZON Surprise Rain Frogg Toggs Poncho Florida afternoon storms show up with very little warning, and they mean business. A lightweight rain poncho like the FROGG TOGGS Ultra-lite2 is 100% waterproof, breathable, and packs into its own small stuff sack, so it takes up almost no space. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Pair it with a set of Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers to protect your footwear. Soaked shoes are miserable for the rest of the day, and these slip over almost any shoe style with a waterproof zipper strip for easy on and off. view ON AMAZON The Toilet Paper Situation Toilet Paper It’s thin, it barely functions, and it’s everywhere in Disney World’s restrooms. For your hotel room, pack a roll or two of your preferred TP or arrange a grocery delivery to your resort. If you want to go the extra mile, keep a small pack of wipes in your park bag for the bathrooms in the parks themselves. Dehydration Owala Rapunzel Water Bottle Disney World will dehydrate you faster than you expect. The Owala Disney Princess FreeSip Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle in the Rapunzel colorway keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours and lets you sip through a built-in straw or swing from the wide-mouth opening. It’s cup-holder friendly and comes with a carry loop that doubles as a lock. Cute, practical, and it genuinely gets you to drink more water throughout the day. view ON AMAZON Germs Touchland and Disney Hand Sanitizer + Mist Case Disney World is visited by millions of people every year, and they touch (or in some cases, lick) EVERYTHING. The Touchland Disney Mickey Mouse x Hand Sanitizer Spray and Case Set is a hydrating formula with aloe vera and essential oils, so it won’t dry your hands out with repeated use. The Mickey Mouse case clips onto your bag with a metal keyring, which means you’ll actually use it instead of digging around for it. Effective against most common germs, and it smells like a Wild Watermelon dream. view ON AMAZON Disney World is one of the best places on earth, and none of these problems should stop you from having an incredible trip. But walking in prepared is always going to beat learning the hard way on day one. A little planning goes a long way when Florida heat and 12-mile days are involved. Disney World hotels are often home to some great dining options as well, especially Deluxe hotels like Animal Kingdom Lodge. When we heard that there were two new menu options over at the Maji Pool Bar in the Kidani Village section of the hotel, we knew we had to give them a try. Our verdict? Let’s just say that there’s a reason we’re already planning our trip back to get them again! First up on our list was the Spiced Date and Goat Cheese Flatbread for $12.79, which is made with Suya Spice, Sweet Dates, and Creamy Goat Cheese. The chili flakes on this made us a little concerned about the spice level at first, but the spice is so well tamed by the tomato sauce, the cheese, the caramelized onions, and the arugula. You get a pleasant lingering burn after each bite, so if you’re completely spice-adverse, this won’t be for you, but we’d put it at about a medium heat level. Spiced Date and Goat Cheese Flatbread The goat cheese is strong enough that it does pleasantly linger on the palate afterwards, and since the tomato sauce doesn’t overpower it, it ends up being a perfectly balanced bite between the acidity and richness of the goat cheese, and then the caramelized onions, and then the spice. We do recommend having a beverage nearby, though, so keep that in mind! Delicious! You can also grab the Spiced Chili Nachos for $10.99, which are Tortilla Chips topped with Chili, Melted Cheese, Avocado Crema, and Kachumbari. These were incredible! Kachumbari is a form of African-style salsa with peppers, onion, tomato, and herbs, and it adds a very light, fresh taste to the chili. Spiced Chili Nachos The chili is not overly spicy but does have plenty of spices that bring an African spin to nachos that works in every way. The avocado cream is creamy and delicious, and since the queso is layered underneath the chili, every bite has both chili and queso, which is delightful. This is a great poolside snack, and if you get a bite with everything, you’ve got a fantastic mix of flavors. These are fantastic! Looking for more recent reviews around Disney World? 23. A major change is seemingly coming to Universal’s Epic Universe…and not everyone is happy about it. Epic Universe While Universal Orlando’s latest theme park has been acclaimed by both fans and critics since it opened last year, like anything else, it hasn’t been perfect. From issues as serious as a tragic on-ride death to more mundane theme park problems like weather and maintenance-related closures and a lack of shaded areas, Epic Universe has run into its fair share of issues. Now, a new technology policy is an issue. Earlier this spring, Universal confirmed that its somewhat controversial Photo Validation system will be expanding to Epic Universe and its entrance portals. The Portal to Dark Universe Photo Validation at Universal is a system that scans your face upon park entry or at the lockers, and it’s used to confirm that you are the ticket holder. It eliminates the need for carrying a physical ticket or having to log in digitally. Now, when we say that Photo Validation is coming to Epic Universe, we aren’t just talking about the main entrance to the park (although that will be one spot). Instead, Universal stated that this new system will be used at each of the four portals. Stardust Racers Which brings up the question: Why do we need Photo Validation to enter portals when you don’t need a ticket to enter the portals? Well, Universal wrote on their website, “To keep your passage easy, you can use Photo Validation for Effortless Entry whenever Virtual Line return times are being used.” This could indicate that Universal is possibly expecting a spike in attendance that could require Virtual Lines to keep the portals and lands at a good crowd level. Portal Entrance to Super Nintendo World Or Universal may begin experimenting with the concept of opening Celestial Park to non-ticketed guests at a certain time of day, while the portals remain exclusive to ticket-holders. This system has been rumored for the park since it was under construction, and was tested with convention crowds in late May of 2025. It remains to be seen whether Universal expands this “open hub” concept. Luna lights up the night in Celestial Park Whatever the reason for introducing Photo Validation to Epic Universe, the potential privacy issues involved rub some guests the wrong way. Universal addresses some of these issues on its website, writing: This process is completely optional, and guests can choose to opt out if they’d like. Guests may opt out at the park entrance, Guest Services, or in Universal Express lines at select attractions during the technical rehearsal period before, during or after enrollment. If opting out, adult Guests will be instructed to present a valid photo ID, as well as their tickets and Universal Express Passes. Photos and Photo Templates will be securely stored for no longer than six months after the expiration of the associated ticket or admission product. This is consistent with our legacy finger scan biometric process that was in place for many years. Once a guest opts out of Photo Validation, any photos or Photo Templates created/stored are deleted. Wizarding Paris Universal is introducing the controversial Photo Verification system to Epic Universe, and not everyone is happy about it.
