There are a few Disney World reservations that make people act like they’re trying to buy Taylor Swift tickets from inside a moving elevator. Beaches & Cream is one of them. And look, we get it. Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort has the whole package: burgers, grilled cheese and tomato soup, milkshakes, sundaes, retro soda fountain charm, and enough nostalgia to make your vacation budget briefly feel less frightening. It’s cute. It’s convenient. It has the Kitchen Sink. People love it. No Way Jose But here’s the problem: Beaches & Cream is small, popular, and not always easy to book. So what do you do when you can’t get that reservation? Do you dramatically collapse onto your My Disney Experience app? Do you start whispering “No Way José” into the void? Do you settle for whatever random snack is closest and pretend you weren’t emotionally committed to a milkshake? That’s where The Fountain at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort comes in! Let’s get real. More people should be talking about this place. The Beaches & Cream Problem Beaches & Cream has become a fairly popular place. It’s tucked between Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts, close to EPCOT, near the BoardWalk, and in prime “I just need a burger and a sundae before I become a theme park menace” territory. The menu is exactly what you want from a soda shop: burgers, sandwiches, grilled cheese, tots, onion rings, shakes, sundaes, floats, and enough whipped cream to legally qualify as vacation architecture. Full spread! But because it’s so beloved and so tiny, it can be tricky to land a reservation, especially during peak vacation seasons, holiday weekends, festival crowds, and basically any time the Disney dining universe decides to test your patience. Dining room And that’s where The Fountain comes in, wearing sunglasses and leaning against the wall like it knows something. If You Like Beaches and Cream, You Might Also Like the Fountain in Disney World Meet The Fountain The Fountain is located inside the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, which means it’s in the same general EPCOT resort neighborhood as Beaches & Cream. Translation: you are not being banished to the far reaches of Disney World because you missed one reservation. You’re still near EPCOT. You’re still near Hollywood Studios. You’re still in the land of Friendship boats, resort walkways, and vacationers wearing matching shirts with increasing levels of commitment. Friendship Boats The Fountain is a casual diner-style restaurant with burgers, sandwiches, salads, fries, tots, ice cream, shakes, malts, and floats. It has that same “classic American comfort food meets ice cream counter” energy that makes Beaches & Cream so popular. Is it identical? No. This is not a clone situation. Nobody found Beaches & Cream’s DNA in a lab and grew a second one under the Dolphin. But if what you really wanted was a laid-back meal, a solid burger, something fried and potato-adjacent, and a giant milkshake at the end, The Fountain absolutely understands the assignment. Review: The Fountain at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts Same Neighborhood, Less Drama One of the best things about The Fountain is the location. If you’re staying at the BoardWalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, Dolphin, or Swan Reserve, this is a wildly easy option. If you’re spending the day at EPCOT, it can also be a nice escape from the park chaos, especially if World Showcase is busy enough that you start making eye contact with trash cans and wondering if they have seating. The Fountain It’s also useful if you’re hopping between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. The Dolphin is in that sweet spot where you can build it into your day without feeling like you’ve launched a full expedition. That’s really the secret sauce here. The Fountain gives you a similar kind of meal in a comparable location, but without the same level of reservation stress that can come with Beaches & Cream. And sometimes, the best Disney dining plan is simply eating somewhere good before everyone in your party turns on you! The Menu Is Doing the Work The Fountain menu is exactly the kind of thing you want when you were hoping for Beaches & Cream. There’s a Fountain Smash Burger with certified Angus beef, griddled onions, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a locally baked bun. There’s a 12-inch hot dog called The “Footer” and a Reuben, a crispy fried chicken sandwich, a flounder sandwich, a grilled cheese and tomato soup combo, and a Hot Italian Beef Sandwich. And let’s not forget about those sides! There are fries, tots, onion rings, tomato soup, chili, and coleslaw. Fountain Smash Burger So yes, this is very much the sort of place where your lunch can become “a burger and fries followed by ice cream,” which is one of the great vacation food groups, right between “Mickey-shaped breakfast item” and “snack I bought because it was near me.” The Fountain also has salads, which is nice for anyone who wants something lighter or needs to keep the table from becoming a full fried-food symposium. There’s a Little Gem Caesar, a Buffalo Chicken Wedge, and a Sustainable Salmon & Kimchi salad. But let’s not pretend we all wandered in here because of the lettuce. The Milkshakes Are the Main Character The biggest reason The Fountain works as a Beaches & Cream alternative is the ice cream situation. This place has hand-dipped ice cream, soft serve, malts, shakes, floats, and a full milkshake menu that is not playing around. You can keep things classic with chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla, which are always great options… Banana Pudding Milkshake …Or you can go with those bolder flavors! There’s a Banana Pudding shake with banana ice cream, vanilla pudding, Nilla Wafers, fresh banana, and whipped topping. The King is another great option with peanut butter ice cream, toasted marshmallow fluff, chocolate whipped topping, banana, and a Reese’s Cup. And then there’s the Chocolate³ shake with chocolate ice cream, hot fudge syrup, chocolate milk, chocolate icing, chocolate brownie, chocolate whipped topping, and a Hershey’s chocolate bar. This is not a milkshake…this is a chocolate business plan! You can also grab a Cookies & Cream, Blueberry Cheesecake, Plant City Strawberry Shortcake, and please clear the aisle, a Key Lime Pie shake. A Key Lime Pie shake. Key Lime Pie in a Mason Jar As someone who would happily build a small shrine to the Key Lime Pie on a Stick, I am legally required to pause here and acknowledge the importance of this. Key lime ice cream, lime curd, graham cracker crumble, a slice of key lime pie, whipped topping, and candied lime? That is not dessert. That is a citrus thunderbolt in a glass. Will it replace my beloved Key Lime Pop? No. Let’s not get reckless. But I will absolutely accept this as a worthy cousin. When I Need To Escape The Chaos of EPCOT, I Go Here Why Isn’t Everyone Talking About This Place? The Fountain suffers from one of the greatest Disney World dining problems: it is useful, enjoyable, conveniently located, and not surrounded by constant internet yelling. That means it can get overlooked. It’s not inside a Disney-owned resort in the same way Beaches & Cream is. It’s inside the Dolphin, which is located in the “Disney bubble,” but is owned and operated by Marriott. For some guests, that makes it feel like it’s not really Disney, even though it’s very much sitting in the middle of the EPCOT resort action. The Fountain It also doesn’t have the same headline dessert as the Kitchen Sink, which is both a sundae and a group project. Beaches & Cream has that famous, chaotic, “we brought you every topping we found in the building” reputation. The Fountain is quieter about itself. It’s less theatrical. It doesn’t burst through the door holding sparklers and demanding applause. But that’s part of why we like it. It’s the kind of place you remember when you need a reliable meal, air-conditioning, a shake, and a break from crowds. The Secret Way To Get the Best Ice Cream in Disney World Without a Reservation A Few Things To Know Before You Go The Fountain is not exactly the same as eating at a Disney-operated restaurant, and that comes with a few important details. Disney Dining Plans are not accepted here. MagicBands, Disney Gift Cards, and Disney stored value cards are also not accepted as payment, so be sure to bring another form of payment. The Fountain Also, if you drive to the Dolphin, there may be a parking fee. That can make this less appealing if you’re only going for a casual lunch and weren’t already in the area. Our advice? Use this as a smart add-on when you’re already near EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, the BoardWalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, Dolphin, or Swan Reserve. Walk, take a boat, or fold it into a resort-hopping plan. This is where The Fountain really shines. Who Should Pick The Fountain Instead? The Fountain is a great backup if you wanted Beaches & Cream for the casual diner feel, comfort food, and ice cream. It’s especially good for families who need something easy, people staying in the EPCOT resort area, guests park hopping between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, or anyone who waited too long to book Beaches & Cream and now needs a Plan B that doesn’t feel like defeat. Ice cream! It’s also a good pick if you like the idea of Beaches & Cream but don’t necessarily need the full Disney-famous dessert spectacle. Maybe you don’t need the Kitchen Sink. Maybe you just need a burger, tots, and a shake that looks like it required structural engineering. Don’t Sleep On The Dolphin Disney World has a way of making us obsess over the obvious choices. The restaurant everyone talks about. The snack everyone photographs. The reservation everyone chases like it’s holding the last Lightning Lane for Slinky Dog Dash. But sometimes the better move is one building over, quietly making burgers and Key Lime Pie shakes. The Fountain Spread The Fountain is not a consolation prize. It’s a smart, underrated alternative hiding in plain sight. It gives you a similar mood, a similar menu lane, and a nearly identical geographic advantage without requiring the same reservation gymnastics. The Fountain So if Beaches & Cream is booked solid, don’t panic. Don’t refresh the app until your thumb develops its own phone screen callus. Head to The Fountain instead. Your burger will understand. Your milkshake will forgive you. And your vacation will keep moving, which is really all we can ask from a day at Disney World. A Disneyland parkgoer climbed out of the ride vehicle on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and fell down the 50-foot final drop on the ride. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The 13-year-old visitor exited the ride vehicle before the end of the attraction on Sunday, June 21st, and was taken to the hospital for his injuries following the fall, according to the Orange County Register. A Cast Member immediately stopped the attraction once the incident occurred, and the boy was later evaluated at a local hospital as a precaution before being released, Disneyland officials said. The incident took place around 6 PM on June 21st, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure remained closed for the rest of the evening. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The ride later reopened on Monday, June 22nd. Eyewitnesses shared on Reddit that they saw the boy “falling,” “tumbling,” or “sliding” down the drop hill. Disneyland security and medics responded to the incident, according to the witnesses. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure One Reddit user claimed the boy sustained minor cuts and scrapes but managed to avoid any serious injuries. The Disneyland version of the ride does not require lap bars or seat belts, and it’s unclear at this time why the boy exited the ride vehicle. La Poutinerie is officially opening at EPCOT on July 1st, and yes, that’s Canada Day. With just days left before the grand opening, now is the perfect time to get up to speed on everything you need to know about this exciting World Showcase addition. Here’s a full rundown of what’s coming, what’s on the menu, and why you’ll want to make this your first stop in the Canada Pavilion. What Is La Poutinerie? La Poutinerie is the new quick-service spot taking over the space previously occupied by Refreshment Port, located near the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase. Sponsored by Air Canada, the concept promises to deliver what Disney is calling “a Canadian classic with a twist.” If you’ve visited Refreshment Port in recent years, you might already be familiar with its poutine offerings during EPCOT’s seasonal festivals. La Poutinerie takes that foundation and builds something bigger and more permanent around it. The Menu: Cheesy, Carby, and Absolutely Worth It Let’s get into the good stuff. The menu at La Poutinerie is focused and intentional, centering on poutine in a couple of seriously satisfying variations. Québec: L’Authentique ($10.99) is the classic you know and love: French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. This is the same version that was served at Refreshment Port, and it’s sticking around for good reason. It’s the gold standard. ©Disney Montréal: Viande Fumée ($12.49) is where things get interesting. This version layers French fries and cheese curds with smoked meat, pickles, and mustard gravy. If you’re a fan of bold, savory flavor combinations, this one is going to be your go-to. ©Disney On the drinks side, you’ve got options whether you’re looking for something boozy or totally alcohol-free. The Spiced Apple Slushy ($6.29) is a frozen blend of ginger beer, lime, and spiced apple flavors, and it sounds like it was made for a warm Florida afternoon. Rather than a spot that only shined during festival season, guests will now have a dedicated year-round destination for Canadian cuisine. The Air Canada sponsorship adds an extra layer of authenticity to the whole concept, which fits right in with EPCOT’s mission of cultural celebration. Traditional Poutine There’s also exciting potential on the horizon. Since La Poutinerie will be open and running before the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival kicks off on August 27th, there’s a real chance we’ll see festival-exclusive additions at this location, like the fan-favorite Braised Beef Poutine that’s appeared in past years. Nothing is confirmed yet, but fingers are crossed. Today, there is a stocking on it that says “Kermie,” and it looks like Ollie, the Jollywood Nights mascot, is inside! The best magic often begins with the people who share it. For brothers Michael and Bob, that magic comes to life each day as they work behind the scenes at Walt Disney World Resort. With a bond built on a lifetime of trust and teamwork, they move through their mechanical work almost instinctively to keep the magic moving for millions of guests visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth! Michael, a service manager in Engineering Services who recently worked on the refurbishment and return of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Bob, a mechanic in heavy equipment supporting teams like horticulture and custodial, have grown their careers together for more than a decade under Facility & Operations Services. Their teamwork shows up in the quiet moments guests never notice. It’s in that shared rhythm and lifelong connection that their brotherhood truly shines, allowing families to focus on what matters most: making magical memories together. Michael’s Disney story began with a birthday wish in 2004. During a behind-the-scenes tour, he caught a glimpse of the care, craftsmanship and teamwork that brings the magic to life, and he knew he wanted to be part of it. That August, he moved to Central Florida with a simple goal: get his foot in the door. He eventually landed a part-time merchandise role at the World of Disney. Opportunities followed quickly, but Michael’s heart was always drawn to mechanical work and the pride that comes from building something that lasts. Through a connection in Engineering Services, he found his path into maintenance, starting full-time as a mechanic in June 2007. Encouraged by his brother, Bob took a leap of faith of his own and joined Disney in August 2010. One of the things he values most about the company is the stability it offers and the way it supports cast members and their families. Today, the brothers may work in different roles and locations, but they remain closely connected. Michael is based at Magic Kingdom, while Bob supports work across the property. Michael puts it simply: Mechanics may not always be seen, but their work is felt. That impact is part of a much larger story. Behind the scenes at Walt Disney World, Engineering Services is powered by an incredible team of approximately 2,600 Cast Members who help keep the magic running every day. The majority are carpenters, electricians and plumbers, with additional expertise spanning facilities management, painters, technicians, bricklayers, ironworkers and more. What truly sets this team apart is their depth of experience and longevity. On average, Engineering Services Cast Members have 11 years of service. For many Cast Members, maintaining the magic isn’t just a job; it’s a lifelong career. For Michael and Bob, their love of the trade runs deep, is passed through generations and learned through hands-on lessons. Their father spent his days running heavy equipment and fixing it himself. Their grandfather did the same as a farmer. Growing up, the brothers did not just watch. They learned by doing, turning curiosity into skill and hard work into pride. Michael built his foundation through a motor vehicle company and years of field experience, developing a deep respect for the mechanics that make everything work. That mindset, paired with Disney’s structure, helped turn a skill into a long runway. For Michael, the magic shows up in a sentence he can say anywhere: “I work at Disney,” and people instantly understand. He still thinks about a mentor’s reminder that people travel from around the world to experience places like Orlando, Magic Kingdom, and attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. For Bob, the magic is in the impact of the work. He supports the heavy equipment that keeps daily operations moving across the resort, helping teams like horticulture and custodial maintain the landscapes, floral displays and overall care that shape the guest experience. The Advice They’d Give the Next Mechanic When asked what they’d tell someone considering Disney, especially mechanics or Engineering Services, both came back to the same message. “Take the leap,” Michael said. We’ve almost made it to one of our favorite Disney days of the year — 626 Day, also known as Stitch Day! Surf’s up! Yes, it’s celebrated every year on June 26th, because Stitch’s experiment number is 626. That’s just a few days around the corner, and if you’re in California, there’s a VERY fun way you can celebrate. This is one event you won’t want to miss! In Newport Beach, California, you can celebrate 626 Day with Stitch’s 626 Day Beach Bash! The event will take place on Fashion Beach, and do you want to know the best part? Come along with us for a Pixar-themed adventure among the high seas! ©Disney The Disney Cruise Line hosts Pixar Days at Sea for ALL cruise passengers on select 5-night itineraries sailing to The Bahamas. These themed-event days let you join your favorite Pixar pals for special character meet-and-greets, entertainment, pool parties, and character dining experiences. We’re BIG fans of this sailing event, and if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like, read ahead to learn about our most recent Pixar Days at Sea itinerary! We experienced our Pixar Days at Sea event on Day while sailing with the Disney Fantasy! While we’ve done all sorts of themed events aboard the Disney Cruise Line, Pixar Days just might be our favorite. ©Disney We loved Pixar Day at Sea! There’s so much to do, but not an overwhelming amount of activities to the point that FOMO sets in. One of the best perks of this cruise offering is that it feels like you’re always seeing characters. Disney brings them out in spades, and the biggest Pixar fans will likely spot their favorites. Characters you might meet include Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc., Edna Mode from The Incredibles, Joy from Inside Out, Miguel from Coco, and more! ©Disney We started off by meeting Edna Mode and Mrs. Incredible, which was just so fun, iconic, and special. We love that you can actually have conversations with them — unlike when you meet them in the Disney Parks. We even got to meet Rex! ©Disney Don’t skip the deck parties — even if you think they might not be your thing. We had a blast at Ednaville and thought it was so funny! All the kids got to get involved, and adults got to get involved if they wanted to. Everyone got to sashay away with some fun poses, and there were even some fun surprises with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, as well as Frozone! Pixar House celebration was also a great time. They had everybody you wanted to see dancing — kind of like a mini-rave (that’s family-friendly, of course). ©Disney Basically, if it sounds silly, do it. For example, we got to do a Create Your Own Forky from the Toy Story franchise, and it was a blast. There was an adults-only version, but we still recommend going to the family one because the kids were very cute. ©Disney However, the one reason you should go to Pixar Days at Sea — even if you don’t like Pixar — is the food. There’s the Hey Howdy Breakfast that includes some tasty eats alongside live music and sing-a-longs! ©Disney We LOVED the Pixar Dat at Sea Dinner — which features dishes inspired by the commissary at the California-based Pixar Animation Studios. This was the highlight of the whole day for us. The food served here at Animator’s Palate is unique and so very good, and even if we didn’t dig Pixar, this dinner would make it still very worth it. Massimo’s Linguini Pasta This was probably one of the best rotational dining meals we have ever had. It was delicious, buttery, garlicky, and we were really blown away by ALL of it. Playful Pixar Ball Of course, there are even MORE foodie opportunities! You can do the Anyone Can Cook live cooking demo experience, where you can learn how to cook Remy’s signature dish from Ratatouille, as well as Undersea Magic with Crush — which features a Finding Nemo-inspired meal, complete with a special visit from characters from the film! We tried to join Anyone Can Cook, but it was unfortunately full. We did stop in and smelled amazing, though. We also saw kids asking the French chef questions, and it was very cute and interactive. Animator’s Palate on the Disney Fantasy Ultimately, we were HUGE fans of this event and had a super fun day! In our opinion, it was super worth it, and we can’t wait to do it again! The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival begins on August 27th and runs for several months through November 21st. Food and Wine Festival The Food & Wine Festival is an annual celebration of global cuisine at EPCOT, and brings a ton of exciting eats and drinks, experiences, merchandise, and plenty of entertainment to the parks. Speaking of which, did you know that when you visit the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, your park ticket also gets you in to see FREE concerts?! It’s one of our favorite perks of the whole festival! The newest installment in the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 5, released in theaters on June 19th, and in the first weekend, the film has already begun breaking box office records! ©Disney It’s been a bit of a rough run for some Disney films in the box office recently, even for recent releases like The Mandalorian and Grogu, so some people were concerned at how this film was going to do. However, it’s now the franchise’s BEST opening weekend film! According to the BBC, Toy Story 5 made $300m globally in just its opening weekend, officially making it the largest opening the franchise has ever seen. It’s currently estimated to be the second biggest opening this year globally, only behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has currently grossed over $1 billion. ©IMDb To break it down, Toy Story 5 raked in $150 million in North America and $150 million globally in the opening weekend, showing a strong performance in both markets. The budget of the film itself was about $250 million, and it’ll need to at least double that number to be considered profitable. Already passing the $250 million mark in the opening weekend is promising, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how it continues to perform. ©Disney It’s not uncommon for Disney and Pixar sequels to do very well at the box office, with some like Incredibles 2 and Inside Out 2 crossing the $1 billion mark.
