Disney World offers weddings at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Deluxe Resorts, and even some Disney restaurants! Of course, Disney’s Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian Resort is one of the most famous locations, but you can also tie the knot at a bigger spot like Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Ballroom. Disney’s Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian Resort At Disneyland Resort, you can get married at the Rose Court Garden, in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, or even in front of “it’s a small world.” How cool is that?! Talk about a dream venue! As you can see, we had a LOT of fun exploring all the ways you can splurge on a Disney wedding. Imagine riding to the altar inside THE Cinderella carriage! 10/10 Even if you don’t have the budget for a destination wedding, you can still bring some Disney magic to your wedding! Another week, more Disney news! Magic Kingdom Disney World planning can be tough! There are so many things to think about like which snacks you want to try, the place you want to stay, the way you’re getting to the parks, and more. The fact that Disney is constantly changing doesn’t make it any easier so we’re wrapping up the the biggest Disney news stories from this week all in one place! It’s been a big week for Disney news! Starting with some overseas Disney happenings, the Disney Adventure is gearing up to set sail. The Disney Adventure is the latest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and it’s expected to set sail later in 2025 from Singapore. This week Disney revealed even more info on the new ship. ©Disney The new ship will have several different areas including Disney Imagination Garden, Marvel Landing, Disney Discovery Reef, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, and Toy Story Place. For this week’s announcements, we found out Marvel Style Studio is going to help everyone’s superhero dreams come to life through makeup, costumes, and hair! This spot will also turn into an adult-only lounge in the evening. ©Disney Cruise Line Duffy and Friends will be prominent faces on this cruise thanks to the new “Duffy and the Friend Ship” show, the Duffy and Friends Shop, a new meet and greet, and the Duffy and Friends Discovery Quest! The show will feature original songs as Duffy and his pals set sail on an imaginary adventure. The Discovery Quest will also be an interactive game for guests to play throughout the ship. ©Disney Cruise Line The Royal Society for Friendship and Tea will bring an afternoon tea experience to the high seas with Disney Princesses! The tea will be an afternoon full of treats, stories, and music that all help “teach children the society’s values of kindness, bravery, and determination.” ©Disney Cruise Line Finally, “Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen” is an all-new show that will Captain Jack Sparrow and his band of pirates battling an “ink-squirting squid” during their hunt for a rare treasure! ©Disney Cruise Line We can’t wait to see all of these when the ship finally sets sail in 2025! Learn More About The Disney Adventure News Next up, Disney World is taking center stage with the rest of the news. First is the news that the permits have been approved for construction working toward the major Magic Kingdom expansion coming soon! The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions. The Magic Kingdom expansion includes major ride additions, shopping, and dining through two additions focusing on a Cars area in Frontierland and a brand-new Villains Land behind Big Thunder Mountain. The permit was approved by the South Florida Water Management District. Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. This project is for the construction and operation of a stormwater management treatment facility just east of Magic Kingdom. It also includes pavement upgrades, facility renovations, and other minor upgrades around the area. This is the first major hurdle these expansions have passed so it could signal construction beginning soon. More Details About The New Permit Approval Next up, Disney Springs is making big moves by letting us know that LEVEL99 is replacing the former NBA Experience! LEVEL99 is a home for “real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment” for adults with over 50 physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. Future home of LEVEL99 This new spot is essentially like a huge, futuristic arcade for adults! Disney shared that this will be the largest LEVEL99 to date with over 60 challenge rooms and duels. This will be a major addition to Disney Springs and we can’t wait to see this abandoned building brought back to life. We will admit though, we still miss DisneyQuest. What Is LEVEL99 and What Do You Need To Know About the NEW Disney Springs Location? To wrap up our weekly news, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are about to experience some major changes because Virtual Queues are going away! Starting on February 25th, the virtual queues for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be removed giving guests access to a traditional queue for these attractions. Cosmic Rewind We can expect these lines to be pretty long and to impact how you’ll rope drop these two parks on your next trip. You can still purchase lightning lanes for these attractions if you want to skip the lines but if you’re not paying, hop in line! We’re excited that there won’t be any more 7 AM or 1 PM stressful moments for now. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom Now this doesn’t mean virtual queues are gone forever! We anticipate we will see the return of these virtual lines when another major attraction opens in the park (although we aren’t sure when that will be exactly.) Why 7 AM Doesn’t Matter in Disney World Anymore There you have it folks! The biggest Disney news this week has our head spinning with some major changes but we are excited to see them all come to life. Want To Go to a SLEEP RETREAT Near Disney World?
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Who doesn’t love a good nap? Doesn’t it feel nice to lie down, rest your head, and snuggle up under a warm blanket? What can we say? We love to sleep! Ah…it feels good to lie down! Sometimes, though, it’s nice to get away on a little vacation. Now, don’t get us wrong, we love to explore the Disney parks and see as much as possible on vacation, but this new “Sleep Tourism” trend is seriously tempting us to stop planning and start…sleeping! Alright. Hear us out. Paying to go to sleep? Now, that is unique. But a luxury hotel near Disney World, the Conrad Orlando, is hosting a Wellness Sleep Retreat this March, and it sounds pretty fabulous. Conrad Orlando So, what are we getting into here? The Conrad Orlando’s Wellness Sleep Retreat is an “in-depth journey into the science and practice of restful and restorative sleep, with a focus on sleep while traveling in unfamiliar environments.” Think of it like an extended spa vacation, with a focus on REST and RELAXATION. Now that’s our kind of trip! ©Conrad Orlando The event kicks off on Thursday, March 27th and runs through March 30th, 2025. To participate, there is a three-night minimum stay requirement. There’s even a special Welcome Party on Thursday evening, complete with wellness beverages and healthy bites! Evermore Bay Conrad Orlando explains that the retreat experience is designed to “empower and educate” through daily workshops. You’ll even learn to create a personalized sleep schedule and gain knowledge and practices to improve your daily routines! It’s all about learning! The retreat is hosted by experts in the field, including Dr. Rebecca Robbins, esteemed Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Associate Scientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Robbins is also the co-author of Sleep for Success. Also in attendance will be Brandon Price, President and CEO of Medicine Springs Inc., a company that “replicates and packages hot springs to bring therapeutic benefits into homes worldwide.” Price will demonstrate the wellness benefits of minerals and bathing for health during the retreat. ©Conrad Orlando Remember how we said “Sleep Tourism” is a new thing among travelers? We weren’t kidding! The New York Times explained that Sleep Tourism is focused on solving the issues many people face with getting a good night’s sleep. Combine that with a vacation, and you’ve got yourself a sleep-centric experience aimed at travel rejuvenation and better sleep. Who’s ready to rest? The Conrad Orlando even has new Wellness Guest Rooms with the “latest technologies” to improve your experience. Oh, and you’re invited to stop by Conrad Spa’s Water Garden, which features “bathing rituals inspired by Florida’s breathtaking natural springs.” Alright, now THAT sounds amazing. ©Conrad Orlando The retreat comes with: A Hotel Guest Room (King or Two Queen) at Conrad Orlando A Welcome Reception & Kick Off Event at Conrad Spa Orlando Two Sleep Workshops with Dr. Rebecca Robbins, Sleep Expert A Workshop with Brandon Price, Owner of Medicine Springs, Daily Group Fitness Class One Group Sound Bath A Welcome Wellness gift bag for In-Room and Home Care Two Breakfast Meals Two Dinner Meals A Private Cabana for Retreat Guests Exclusive Spa Services for Retreat Guests ©Conrad Orlando The retreat is available to book online now, and space is limited! Make sure to book your reservation ASAP if you’re interested. ©Conrad Orlando In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. There are three things most people know about Disney World: it will probably be crowded, it will most likely be hot, and it will be expensive. While a Disney World vacation definitely won’t be the most budget-friendly option for vacation, we truly think there is something — dare we say — magical about a Disney vacation. Magic Kingdom While a Disney vacation can be very, very expensive, there are also lots of ways to save money while still having fun! One of my favorite Disney World activities is often overlooked, but it is such a fun time and can be completely FREE! Plan for a resort hopping day! It can be a more relaxed day, but you can still explore Disney World and check out some really amazing spots. Disney World has more than 30 hotels and exploring them is easier than you might think. Coronado Springs It is easy and FREE! You can park at Disney Springs for free and then take whatever resort bus suits your fancy. I recommend parking in the Orange Garage as it lets you out close to the bus depot. Then you can hop from resort to resort as much as your heart desires. An important note that there are no buses that run between resorts, so you will need to take a bus to one of the parks or Disney Springs first, and then you can catch a bus to a different Disney Resort. Disney Springs Bus Directory I always just hop on the next bus that is coming to the bus depot at the resort and then change buses to get to my next destination. You can also come up with some fun ways to choose where you are going next. You can go completely random with a random number generator and head to that bus station, have each person choose a resort, or watch to see which bus shows up next. Also, don’t forget that you can take advantage of other transportation options like the Skyliner or monorail too! Skyliner Once you have decided which hotel you are heading to, you can do some research on the bus ride over or just wait and be surprised! There is SO much to do at the resorts, and you could even spend all day just admiring the architecture. But if architecture isn’t your jam, there are also activities like painting experiences, horseback riding, and craft stations, plus lots of dining and shopping options. Wilderness Lodge Lobby Each Disney World hotel has lots of unique activities, as well as dining and shopping options. Here is where the adventure could cost you some money. While this activity can be completely free, you might want to budget some money to grab a bite, pick up some souvenirs, or take part in an activity. Pulled Pork Nachos from Capt. Cook’s The Disney World hotels offer various activities that you can take advantage of. For example, you can find arcades at many of the hotels. All-Star Movies also has a photo booth, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a make-your-own necklace station, and Disney’s Grand Floridian has a DIY ears activity. You can even find an Archery Experience at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and Disney’s Coronado Springs offers a painting experience. Hotels also host movie nights and some also feature playgrounds. And that is just a few of the activities that you can take part in! Finished Ears at the DIY Ear Activity Beyond the activities at the resort, there are also lots of dining options! You can stop for a quick bite to eat at the hotel’s quick service restaurant or choose to eat at one of the sit-down restaurants. Some of our favorite Disney World restaurants are at Disney World hotels including Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, or Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Olivia’s Cafe But one of my favorite things to do while resort hopping is to just relax! Most hotels have some pretty fantastic seating areas. You can see the castle from the beach of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or swing in a hammock at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Or grab a rocking chair in front of the fire at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Then you can take a few minutes to just take in all the beauty around you. Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney hotels also have running trails or pathways that you can explore! Sometimes the running trail takes you through nature, while other trails may take you in between hotels like the trail that connects the Transportation & Ticket Center with the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. Running Trail at Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside You might be wondering if you could resort hop via a car? While you might be able to accomplish this, I highly recommend sticking to Disney transportation. Certain hotels might require you to be staying at the hotel or have a dining reservation there to enter in your car. I like to make things easy and just hop on Disney transportation so I don’t have to worry about whether I will make it inside or not! Disney Bus Resort hopping can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be, and I think it is a great activity for a semi-rest day. I do want to note that during very busy times, like Halloween or Christmas/New Year, some hotels like Fort Wilderness or the Polynesian might limit access to non-resort guests. But other than that, by hopping on a bus at Disney Springs you just unlocked the ability to explore the Disney World hotels! Art of Animation Resort There are lots of options for things to do at Disney World, and one of my favorites is resort hopping. It is a more relaxing day but still filled with fun as you explore the Disney World hotels. Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips, tricks, and news! I’ve been going to Disney World for over 30 years, and by this point, you’d think I’d have been on every single ride. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Call me a bad Disney Adult if you’d like, but the truth is: there’s one Disney World attraction I’ve still never been on — and it’s not exactly one I’m in a hurry to ride anytime soon. I’m a HUGE ride junkie, too, so believe me when I say I have a very, very good — and very blunt — reason for not riding this Disney World ride. I must admit — I’ve never been on Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This river raft ride is located in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom, and while this park has quickly climbed the ranks and become one of my favorites, Kali River Rapids could fall into oblivion and I wouldn’t even bat an eye. Sure, I don’t want to yuck anyone else’s yum, but let’s be real here — is this anyone’s favorite Disney World ride? Kali River Rapids At Kali River Rapids, you and 11 of your closest friends are launched on rafts into the turbulent Chakranadi River for a wild ride through a jungle jeopardized by illegal logging. YOU WILL GET WET — and therein lies my problem. Kali River Rapids I’m no stranger to “water rides” at Disney World. A cannonball splash on Pirates of the Caribbean? Sure. A thrilling drop on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? I’ll risk it if I’m feeling particularly festive (or warm) on any given day. But, the prospect of potentially getting drenched by multiple river rapids, waterfalls, and people squirting water at me from a bridge? That’s gonna be a no from me, dog. Kali River Rapids If you don’t get wet enough going through the actual ride… people standing on the bridge as you approach the disembarking station will shoot water at you through the elephants! I can’t promise that I wouldn’t stare down the child who dared to squirt me with water if I were to ride Kali River Rapids — so it’s really just better for everyone if I don’t ride it. Kali River Rapids Luckily for me, Kali River Rapids is closed for its yearly refurbishment and will reopen sometime in March. This is an annual event for the attraction, as — like with most water rides — it’s too cold for most riders during January and February (yes, even in Florida), so Disney takes the opportunity to refresh and repair what needs maintenance. Kali River Rapids In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss any more of my rants about why water rides are the worst. Disneyland Park is making history this year! ©Disney Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year with some fun theming and event-specific offerings. As it honors 70 years of “The Happiest Place on Earth”, Disneyland will also be reopening the classic Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction, alongside the new Walt Disney — A Magical Life. The show will feature a one-of-its-kind audio-animatronic of Walt Disney and it’ll also include a fun behind-the-scenes sneak peek! For the first time in history, guests will “see Walt Disney through the magic of Audio-Animatronics technology” when Walt Disney — A Magical Life debuts in the Main Street Opera House on July 17th, 2025 — the 70th Anniversary of the Opening Day of Disneyland. ©Disney According to Disney, “Here you’ll encounter the story and history of Audio-Animatronics technology, from Walt’s day leading to the advancement of where we are today. You’ll learn about Walt’s inspiration and see firsthand the inner workings of this technology, and how far Audio-Animatronics figures have advanced through the years.” Guests will experience the story of Walt Disney’s life through remastered footage and audio recordings as the story depicts Walt’s early endeavors all the way to Los Angeles. Then, “when the curtain rises, guests will be transported to Walt’s office.” D23 Horizons Showcase This new show will have an initial run as the only show playing in the Main Street Opera House, but will ultimately be shown in rotation with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln (the longtime lone occupant of the opera house) once the initial run is complete. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln uses what was once state-of-the-art audio-animatronic technology when Walt Disney “first introduced the groundbreaking technology.” The audio-animatronic was the first ever made by Walt and stars in a show where guests can see President Abraham Lincoln deliver a patriotic speech about inspiration, justice, and the meaning of the United States Constitution. ©Disney The Main Street Opera House will also host an exhibit “featuring the evolution of Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland.” We’ll get behind-the-scenes looks at never-before-seen images, art, and artifacts on display that show Disneyland before, during, and after Walt’s dream became a reality. Further into the Opera House, we’ll find the story and history of Audio-Animatronics technology, as well as a collaboration with the Walt Disney Family Museum that boasts original items from Walt’s private apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street such as a rocking chair, lamp, and table. We’ll also be able to see Walt’s 1955 Emmy award for the “Walt Disney’s Disneyland” TV show, his Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded by President Johnson in 1964, and the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal presented to Lillian Disney by President Nixon in 1969. Okay, we’ll admit it. There is one Disney World park that feels a little…smaller right now. But that’s because BIG CHANGES are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! We’re getting an entirely new land — Pueblo Esperanza — in place of DinoLand U.S.A., and even the park’s icon, the Tree of Life, is getting a brand-new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether! But while we wait for these additions, expect extra construction walls and closures around the park. Disney’s Animal Kingdom In addition to the phased closure of DinoLand U.S.A. and the seasonal Kali River Rapids refurbishment, Disney just announced another temporary closure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The popular Mickey and Minnie character meet-and-greet at Adventurer’s Outpost is closing this February. If you were hoping to meet Mickey and Minnie during your Disney trip this February, you might need to take a closer look at your game plan. The meet-and-greet at Adventurer’s Outpost on Discovery Island will be closed from February 25th to 27th, 2025. Adventurer’s Outpost in Animal Kingdom This temporary closure is likely just for a short refurbishment, but Disney has not stated if Mickey and Minnie will be meeting elsewhere during the closure. Who knows — you might find them tucked away somewhere else on Discovery Island! If you spot a Cast Member in a blue polo top (Disney’s Character Attendants), you might want to ask them if Mickey and Minnie are meeting anywhere in Animal Kingdom between February 25th and 27th. They’ll be able to point you in the right direction! Look for Cast Members in blue! Luckily, there are plenty of other ways to meet Mickey and Minnie in Disney World! If you want to see Mickey in his safari gear, you can reserve a character meal at Tusker House. The food here is pretty good, too! Heya, Mickey! Mickey and Minnie also meet at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, so you should have a few chances to grab a photo with Mickey! Make sure to check the My Disney Experience app — the wait times for these meet-and-greet attractions can really fluctuate throughout the day. Something wickedly good is coming to Magic Kingdom! Maleficent At the D23 Disney fan convention in 2024, we got the announcement that a new Villains Land would be coming to Magic Kingdom! Ever since we cannot stop thinking about the potential of this area. With only one piece of concept art so far, fans are concerned that some of the elements might not come to life. Disney has shared “Guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, the multi-acre expansion will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping. Walt Disney Imagineering is pushing creative boundaries to dark and mysterious levels to bring this new, first-of-its-kind land to life.” These are so big ideas so let’s dive into the concept art. Villains Land ©Disney Will It Have a Real Outdoor Rollercoaster? Disney hasn’t shared details on what attractions will be coming to the new area, but the concept art reveals some roller coaster-like elements. When the concept art was released, we immediately noticed what appeared to be tall roller coaster tracks. ©Disney This section is decorated with thorns and looks like it will feature some sharp curves…and maybe an inversion? These tracks make us think that this coaster could be on a large scale and it is making us excited. However, right now the concept art is the only detail we have so fans are unsure if a large coaster of this scale will come to life. Will We Have a Ride That Goes Over Water? From the concept art, the best we can gather is that this area is some sort of a cavern complete with waterfalls. And if we look even closer, it looks like there’s an attraction running through it. ©Disney Could this be the same rollercoaster pictured above or is this a different attraction? Fans are wondering if the ride will go over water. This could be different than any ride we’ve really seen at Disney World, especially if this is a coaster that goes over the water. Can We Expect to See a Large Maleficient Dragon Breath Fire? From the concept art, you can see a large Maleficient dragon breathing green fire. Magic Kingdom already has something in the realm with the mechanical dragon in the Festival of Fantasy parade who breathes fire. ©Disney But this could be similar to the dragon found in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. We would love to see a large-scale Malecifent breathing fire and we could potentially see this being part of the rollercoaster attraction or perhaps close by. Will We See This Land Be As Detailed as Pandora: World of Avatar? From the concept art, we see a lot of cliffs and rock formations, and it reminds us of a similar landscape in Pandora: World of Avatar located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We know that area is very detailed and well themed so can we really see something like that at Magic Kingdom? ©Disney While there are themed lands in Magic Kingdom, we could argue that there is nothing as immersive as what is in Animal Kingdom, but Villains Land could change that. From the water features to the mountains in the background — we’re begging Disney to bring these details to life. Will There Be Two “Dark” Castles? From the art, we can see one villain’s castle upon a cliff in the distance. It does lay above the Maleficent dragon and the thorn bushes, so could this be her castle? Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom ©Disney That’s not the only one though — in the bottom right of the rendering, we noticed that there appears to be another castle-like building. Could this be another villain’s lair or perhaps even a castle we could dine in? D’Amaro shared at D23 in 2024 that in Villains Land, there would be dining and shopping so this could be one of those buildings. ©Disney Like many Disney World fans, we are excited to see what will become of this land. We are keeping our eyes and ears open for any new details that will come and we are going to share them with you! Be sure to follow DFB for the latest news. Disney, honey, what were you thinking? Magic Kingdom Disney makes TONS of good decisions all the time and we leave the Disney Resorts smiling frequently (otherwise we wouldn’t be doing what we do. However, that doesn’t mean they don’t make mistakes. In fact, sometimes Disney makes REALLY costly mistakes that they end up paying for years down the road. Disney has never shied away from making investments in its theme parks. From new lands to decades-long resort expansions, The Walt Disney Company is willing to drop top dollar on projects it believes in. Sometimes though, the decision to jump in head-first has monetarily backfired for the company. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was a Disney World hotel that was open for just over a year between March 1st, 2022 and September 30th, 2023. The experience let guests get fully immersed in the world of Star Wars as they “board a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them” with a two-day, two-night itinerary. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser While the experience was unique and breathtaking at times, it wasn’t for everyone, and the price point of thousands of dollars put a lot of people off. It was a bold experiment from Disney, but it ultimately failed. ©Disney Live and learn, right? Eh…We’re guessing Disney wants a do-over or wishes it hadn’t done it to begin with. While there is no public record of the set amount the hotel costs to make, estimates indicate the project could’ve cost Disney up to $1 BILLION. Big yikes. Galactic Starcruiser Room While it was long-speculated what would become of the hotel since its closure, it was recently revealed that the Galactic Starcruiser building will be used as office space for Walt Disney Imagineering. Guests won’t have any access as the space will become home for Imagineers as they work on several expansion projects. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Atrium That’s one expensive office building. EPCOT’s Harmonious Barges At least the Star Wars hotel wasn’t ugly. EPCOT’s Harmonious barges on the other hand…yeah, those things were U.G.L.Y.! Harmonious barges The nighttime spectacular ran from October 2021 until April 2023 and the show itself was fine, but its pyrotechnic and entertainment barges in the middle of World Showcase lagoon were an eyesore during the day. BYE While the cost of the project hasn’t been specified, it couldn’t have been cheap. The main issue here was that instead of everyone lauding the show, a lot of attention was on these barges and how ugly they were in the lagoon. At the end of the day, was a temporary nighttime show really worth garnering a bad aesthetics rep? Animal Kingdom’s Kite Tails Disney KiteTails at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom was a daytime show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that ran for one year during the resort’s 50th anniversary. It ended in September 2022. KiteTails The kite-focused show took place in the Discovery River Amphitheater and was quite the spectacle among famous Disney soundtracks while watercraft pulled the kites, but there was one big problem…WIND. KiteTails Wind is unpredictable and can be a pain. The show suffered from sudden drops, erratic kite movements, and full-on cancellations when the wind couldn’t cooperate. The show at its best was tons of fun and was great in theory, but mother nature is unforgiving sometimes. KiteTails Viewing Area The amphitheater still exists so maybe we’ll see a spiritual successor one day. The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management DON’T MESS WITH A GOOD THING! The Enchanted Tiki Room is a staple at Magic Kingdom, but it’s had its rough past. Once Tropical Serenade (a replica of Disneyland’s Enchanted Tiki Room), the attraction became The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management in 1998. ©Disney The show featured Iago and Zazu and all of the same audio-animatronic birds, flowers, and Tiki gods alongside a new story. Fans weren’t in love with the new show, and many considered it disrespectful to the classic attraction. So when the theme park gods VENGEFULLY caused a small fire that broke out in the attic of the attraction in 2011 that ultimately closed it down, fans of the original weren’t exactly shedding tears. The attraction reopened later that year as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and was much more like the original. Disney went back to the original after the Iago animatronic was deemed too expensive to fix. All in all, the whole “Under New Management” experience was a mess. The third installment of Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, premiered in 2021. Since then, fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the next chapter in Peter Parker’s story. The next Spider-Man film (still untitled) will premiere in 2026, and now, the opening date has been delayed. ©Marvel Sony and Marvel Studios’ new Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland will now premiere on July 31st, delaying the original release date by one week. Spider-Man 4 was previously set to premiere on July 24th, 2026, though the film would face some steep competition around this time. Christopher Nolan’s new movie, The Odyssey, is projected to be a big hit this summer, premiering on July 17th, 2026. Marvel and Sony likely chose to delay Spider-Man 4 to give the film a better shot at the box office, according to Deadline. ©Marvel Marvel is no stranger to a “superhero summer” premiere. In 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine debuted on the last Friday in July, making $211.4M domestically and $444.7M worldwide opening weekend. Given the popularity of the Spider-Man series, Marvel and Sony are likely hoping for a major box-office hit in 2026. ©Marvel We still don’t know much about the plot of this sequel. We know that Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man, and Deadline confirmed Zendaya is expected to return as well. That said, everything from the name of the movie to the details of the story is still a mystery. ©Marvel Last summer, Inside Out 2 smashed box office records, making over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Are you ready to take flight? Orlando International Airport We are almost always planning a Disney World trip on this team! We’re hunting for hotel deals, watching for news, and more, every single day. It also means we spend a lot of time in the airport, so we’re sharing the most unexpected MCO rules so they don’t catch you off guard before your next flight. When traveling, there are so many rules to keep up with but do you know about these unexpected rules when you’re headed to MCO? We were searching the TSA and MCO websites today before our next flight and were so surprised by some of the things we found! Starting off, did you know you could bring an airbrush makeup machine in your carry-on and checked bags? Grab your luggage! Some of our team members love our makeup but I don’t think we’ve ever traveled with an airbrush machine! We’re sure professional makeup artists love this surprising rule but make sure you check with your specific airline before you pack it. We’re going to talk a lot about packing, so next up you can bring artificial skeleton bones in your luggage! MCO Airport This one was surprising to us so we did some research. Artificial bones can be used to replace lost, broken, or fractured human bones so it makes total sense that they’re allowed in luggage. We would personally love to see a TSA discover one in someone’s carry-on though! Talk about the surprise of the day. Baggage claim! Keeping with the baggage surprises, we were shocked to find out you can bring car parts in your luggage. I mean, we’re sure mechanics travel so it’s not super surprising but this author can’t even get her oil changed on her own so the thought of bringing car parts with you on your trip just caught us off guard. What gate are you heading to? This next one we were very grateful for! You can’t bring any fertilizer in your check or carry-on baggage (thankfully.) Sorry to all of the farmers and gardeners but as someone who has a very sensitive sniffer, I don’t think I could make it through a flight with a bag of fertilizer above me. Southwest Cabin Wrapping up our carry-on conversation, we were super surprised that you can’t bring a foam toy sword in your carry-on bag! Foam toy swords are a popular merchandise souvenir in Disney World so it was unexpected that you can’t bring it on the plane. Luckily, you can toss it in your checked bag without any problems. Foam swords and shields Now that we’ve covered what can (and can’t) go into your luggage, did you know that you don’t have to haul your luggage all over the airport if you’ve got some time to kill? You can’t just leave it anywhere, that’s not safe for you or anyone, but you can take it to Hold My Luggage! In Terminal B on Level 1, you can check out Hold My Luggage where they offer luggage pickups and returns, luggage storage, and luggage transportation services. No more lugging! At Hold My Luggage, you’ll sign a waiver and the staff there will tag your bags and give you a claim ticket. You can then roam the airport, or city, without hauling your luggage around! It’s essentially a bell service offering at MCO which is really convenient. You can return to that location to get your bags back, or you can request to have a staff member meet you at your airline check-in location for even easier travel. Orlando Airport Finally, you can skip the line for free at MCO with MCO Reserve! MCO Reserve is run by CLEAR and is a reservation-based service. This service can be booked online three days before your flight leaves MCO. Make sure to set a reminder because reservation times tend to go quickly. ©Orlando International Airport MCO Reserve is open from 5 AM to 5 PM. Flights departing between 6:30 AM and 8:30 PM are eligible to book a reservation. It is also important to note that services like TSA Pre-Check and CLEAR will not be honored in the MCO Reserve line so if you want to keep your shoes on, head to TSA Pre-Check. © MCO Reserve MCO Reserve has been a great service and helped us many times when we’ve been traveling on a tight schedule. MCO is the closest airport to Universal and Disney World so crowds can get wild during the holiday season and school breaks. The MCO carpet! There you have it! All of the most unexpected rules you need to remember before heading to MCO! Don’t pack your toy swords in your carry-on and make sure to keep following DFB for all of your travel tips and tricks. OK, we’ll say it: we are control freaks. We carefully plan our trips to Disney World, scour menus ahead of time, and look inside each and every hotel before we book a reservation. But there are some things we just can’t control. GAH! Walt Disney World entrance We hate to admit it, but we can’t control the crowds, the lines, or the prices during the busy season at Disney World. It’s inevitable! But here’s the thing. Even though a lot of people already know that Disney World tends to be C R O W D E D in March, there’s one mistake we still see people making on vacation. Don’t make this mistake! OK, before we dive in, we should give you a little context. March is an infamous month in Disney World. Some fun events kick off in the spring, like the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, Mardi Gras, and Women’s History Month, but March is also around the time when the spring break crowds start heading to Disney World. Yikes! Phineas and Ferb at the Flower and Garden Festival There’s no official start date for spring break — it’s more of a large window of time that begins in mid-March and spans through mid-April. In the past, we’ve seen crowds start to pick up around March 15th, with the peak crowds hitting around Easter. Easter falls on Sunday, April 20th this year. Get ready for Easter crowds! During this time, expect higher wait times and a generally busy theme park day. It might take longer than usual for your mobile order to arrive. You might find long lines for small attractions that typically have a five-minute wait. You might even see the GIFT SHOPS fill up with people. It’s hard to escape the crowds. Animal Kingdom crowds Why are we telling you this? Even if you know Disney World will be crowded, you might not know what this means BEFORE you even step foot in the parks. Transportation takes a LOT longer than you might expect! We’ve seen people make this mistake all the time. Driving to Disney World is time-consuming! Even if the map says your destination is only 15–20 minutes away, don’t be fooled! It takes time for the bus (or boat or Monorail) to arrive. It takes time for everyone to get on the bus. It takes time for the bus to drive to all its stops. It takes time for everyone to unload their strollers. It takes time to go through security and scan your ticket. TL;DR? Give yourself at least an hour to get where you need to go. Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance But wait! While you’re calculating the time you need to get to your destination, don’t forget the time it takes to actually WALK to your reservation or attraction. Let’s say you have a Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. Well, it takes a while to walk all the way to the back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Don’t stop the clock when you arrive at the park! Spring Break crowds are no joke Here’s another mistake you might make. Let’s say you jumped in line at your hotel bus stop to Magic Kingdom. Great! You’re on the right track. But there’s one small problem. You’re standing at the very back of the line. Sometimes, you might not fit on the bus (or boat or Monorail) if the line is especially long. That means you have to wait even LONGER for the next bus to arrive. If you’re running low on time and the line looks long, you might want to splurge on a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. Lyft pick-up We can’t make the crowds disappear, but we can help you prepare for the busy season! Patience is the name of the game here, so just make sure you know what you’re getting into if you visit Disney World this March. It will be busy, but you can still have fun in Disney World! Just make sure to give yourself enough time to get where you need to go. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Staying at Disney World hotels provides numerous perks that can help make your vacation better! For example, you can take advantage of a complimentary day at a Disney World water park on your check-in day, enjoy extra time in the park with Early Entry, and get free parking at the theme parks. Disney’s Riviera Resort Another big perk is taking advantage of complimentary Disney World transportation. This transportation can pretty much get you anywhere you want to go on Disney World property and includes a network of boats, buses, monorails, and the Skyliner. However, one Disney World hotel’s transportation options have decreased. From February 10th until early April 2025, boat transportation from Disney’s Old Key West Resort to Disney Springs will be unavailable. The resort will offer buses to take you to Disney Springs during this time. Old Key West While it can be frustrating if you are looking forward to using the boat to get to Disney Springs, Disney always ensures you have a way to get where you need to go. The bus may not be quite as fun of a way to get there, but you will still reach your destination! Keep reading below to see what other attractions and locations will be closed this week, February 22nd through March 1st! Magic Kingdom Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue will close for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground will be closed, the ride will still be open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. Hall of Presidents The Hall of Presidents closed at Magic Kingdom on January 20th. Hall of Presidents The attraction is closed until later in 2025, though a specific date has not been shared by Disney. We will keep an eye out for updates, though! The closure is likely to change out the current president as January 20th marked Inauguration Day. While it is closed, other maintenance and routine work may also be happening. Astro Orbiter If you want to blast off into space, you’ll have to head over to Space Mountain because Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment! Astro Orbiter Astro Orbiter will be closed as of January 13th and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025. No specific date has been announced for the high-in-the-sky ride, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an update from Disney. The ride has currently been completely dismantled and is being refurbished elsewhere. It definitely looks a little barren as you are walking into Tomorrowland right now! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’ve been anticipating this ride closure for a while now, and on January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Construction The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! Why Is No One Asking This Huge Magic Kingdom Expansion Question? Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade On June 23rd, we had to say goodbye to an opening-day attraction that had been around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade will become the lounge! This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. Disney recently filed a new permit for the new DVC lounge, McKim’s Mile House, to install signage. We have been eagerly awaiting to see if we can see the signage outside, but so far, we have had no luck. Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and take a rest, this could be it! Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is also a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we have seen it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern However, there are now shrubs up around the dining area of the restaurant, and work is being done. When we stopped by recently, some of the shrubs had been taken down, and it looked like work had been done on the ground. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! This Oddly Specific Map Shows Our Favorite Bathrooms in Magic Kingdom EPCOT Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros Over at EPCOT, the Gran Fiesta Tour ride at the Mexico pavilion also closed on January 6th. Gran Fiesta Tour The ride will temporarily close for refurbishment and is expected to reopen on March 15th! Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, and an updated opening timeline was just announced! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in late summer 2025. This Is One of the BEST Things To Do in EPCOT and You Can’t Change My Mind Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh Occasionally, we’ll see it open as a lounge or Kidcot Fun Stop. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! The SECRET To Getting Your Money’s Worth When Drinking Around the World at EPCOT Hollywood Studios Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Lightning McQueen Racing Academy Sunset Showcase The Cars show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show is supposed to debut in the summer of 2025. We’re always watching for more details about the new show, and we recently spotted a casting call for Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent! These Disney Adult Hollywood Studios Hacks Are Getting Out of Control Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But a bit ago we spotted that the iconic Voyage of the Little Mermaid marquee has been removed! So far it is still missing, but we are curious what, if anything, will takes its place. Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and it is now coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025. The marquee is now gone! Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but it has been postponed from its Fall 2024 opening timeline. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” 3 NEW Game-Changing Updates Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025 Animal Kingdom Bat Exhibit at Maharajah Jungle Trek The bat exhibit on the Maharajah Jungle Trek closed for refurbishment on February 17th, 2025. While this portion of the trail is closed, the rest of the Maharajah Jungle Trek is open! You could even spot baby tiger Bakso, who recently made his debut in the tiger exhibit. However, be prepared to wait to see this adorable addition and plan on arriving early. Maharajah Jungle Trek The bat exhibit is expected to reopen in early March 2025. But don’t let its closure keep you from making the trek — there is still so much to see! Kali River Rapids Kali River Rapids is a popular water ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Kali River Rapids Since this is a water ride, and it’s a bit cold outside in Florida during the winter, Disney often closes this ride for refurbishment this time of year. It closed on January 6th and is expected to reopen in March. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and we have seen TriceraTop Spin being dismantled. DinoLand Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” Another Part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Will Close Soon Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach officially welcomed guests back on November 4th! That same day, Typhoon Lagoon closed its gates for the season. Typhoon Lagoon Typhoon Lagoon will likely be closed throughout the winter until sometime in the spring. Disney has been having one water park open at a time seasonally since 2020. In the meantime, you can enjoy the slopes at Blizzard Beach this winter! Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach Disney World Hotels Stormalong Bay and Hurricane Hanna’s– Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Stormalong Bay is the shared pool between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It features a beach, a lazy river, a large pool, and an exciting pirate ship slide! When we stopped by recently, we noticed that they were hard at work at Stormalong Bay. Work being done at Stormalong Bay From January until June, this pool area will be closed for refurbishment. While it’s closed, hotel guests can use the Tidal (Beach Club), Admiral (Yacht Club), and Dunes Cove (Beach Club) leisure pools. During the refurbishment, Hurricane Hanna’s, the pool bar at Stormalong Bay will also be closed. Fantasia Pool — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort From January 1st through April 30th, the Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed. Fantasia Pool While this pool is closed, you can swim at the Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort if you’re staying here. Courtyard Pool and Courtyard Pool Bar — Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort The Courtyard Pool, spa, and Courtyard Pool Bar at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort are closed for refurbishment. Courtyard Pool Bar The refurbishments started on January 27th and will last through late February. This is the main pool at the hotel, but the Beach Pool will remain open throughout the refurbishment. Everything POP Shopping & Dining — Disney’s Pop Century Resort The Everything Pop Food Court still remains on Disney World’s refurbishment. However, the area looks open except for one food window! Since July 29th, Everything Pop has been getting some work done. The refurbishment was supposed to end on September 29th. However, it was extended to being under refurbishment until April 2025. Currently, it is still under refurbishment, but the full food court and dining area are available; guests just might see or hear construction work being done. Everything Pop When we stopped by a few weeks back, it looked like all the walls were down. A Cast Member said the food court and gift shop are pretty much done, but some behind-the-scenes work is still being done. The only thing we noticed was one food window still closed off. Merchandise Locations — Disney’s BoardWalk The merchandise locations along Disney’s BoardWalk will be closing for refurbishment in phases. The closures will last until May 2025, but two merchandise locations will always be available during the refurbishment. Disney’s BoardWalk The Screen Door General Store is currently closed for refurbishment, and a Cast Member estimated it will likely be closed for 6-7 weeks until they move to Character Carnival next. Pixar has created some of the most beloved movies and characters of ALL time, which is why we are still celebrating Pixar characters to this day in Disney parks. Pixar Place Hotel Over at Disneyland Resort, Disney California Adventure has a WHOLE Pixar Pier area that includes San Fransokyo Square, dedicated to Big Hero 6. The resort has also had a Pixar Fest in the past (although it doesn’t look like it’s happening this year). There’s even a hotel THEMED to Pixar, Pixar Place Hotel. Well, if you need even MORE Pixar in your life, Pixar Place Hotel is now offering Pixar Putt, a pop-up Pixar mini golf course. You’ll find Pixar Putt on the first floor of the Pixar Place Hotel in the convention center area. It’s open from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM every day with tee times being every 30 minutes. Universal is getting ready to open its third theme park, Epic Universe, on May 22nd, 2025 — and we are so ready. ©Universal The new theme park will include five themed lands with new attractions, restaurants, shopping, and more. Tickets went on sale last year, but Universal recently released new details about discounted tickets, including discounts for members of the U.S. military. Now, we’re breaking down the details about that discount! Active duty and retired U.S. military members who have an active 2025 Military Freedom Pass now have the opportunity to purchase a 1-Park, 1-Day Universal Epic Universe ticket as an add-on to their pass. They can do this via their Universal Orlando account. So why is this a big deal? Well, regular guests who want to visit Epic Universe can’t get single day tickets JUST for that park. They have to buy multi-day tickets with one day at Epic Universe. So this is a huge advantage for military members. Epic Universe model Ticket prices will vary according to date, and military members can purchase up to six tickets per transaction. However, note that there is no limit on the number of transactions you can make. So, according to the language online, you could purchase up to six dates in one transaction, and then go back in and purchase six additional dates in another transaction, and so on. Or you can purchase one date for six Military Freedom Pass holders in one transaction and then purchase an additional date for six Military Freedom Pass holders in another transaction. ©Universal | Epic Universe Concept Art We hope that straightens out all the details about purchasing these regular tickets. Universal also released discounted ticket details for Florida residents — you can read all about that here. We’ll be at Epic Universe on DAY ONE, so you’ll want to stay tuned to DFB for more Epic Universe news. Hi, there! I’ve been obsessed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ever since Iron Man was released in 2008 — the irony is that I only went to the movie because my Robert Downey Jr.-obsessed cousin dragged me to it. However, that was it…I was hooked. ©Marvel I was soon an MCU fanatic, seeing every single Marvel movie in the theater the week it released, sitting patiently through the credits just to see what kind of scene would air at the end (Marvel TRAINED US to do that, y’all). I lived through the pain of Avengers: Infinity War and the triumph of Avengers: Endgame. After that, though, Marvel seemed to lose its footing, it didn’t really know where to go after such an epic saga came to an end. Now, we’d already had SOME Marvel TV shows on Netflix, but Disney started making Marvel shows for Disney+ — and you know what, I think that’s where some of Marvel’s best stories are. It all started with WandaVision, which had a quirky concept that somehow just WORKED. Marvel picked up with the story of Wanda Maximoff after the events of Endgame and told a beautiful story of how grief could change and shape a person (and cause them to create a whole other reality to live in). One thing that WandaVision showed us is that a TV show could really delve into both the hearts and minds of Marvel characters in a way movies cannot. ©Marvel Studios The reason this show worked so well, too, was its episodic nature, which each episode an homage to a different classic TV sitcom that Wanda was acting out to deal with her grief. Eventually, she became the Scarlet Witch and dealt with her issues and came into her power. Then Marvel went and ignored all of that character development in Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness (and I’ll never forgive Marvel for erasing Wanda’s development from WandaVision). So TV show: 1, movie: 0. ©Disney Marvel then brought another MCU character back for a TV show with Loki, which took the Trickster God on new adventures with the Time Variance Authority into two seasons of a lot of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey situations. And it was brilliant. Loki finally got some breathing room as a character that he did not get in the movies. Again, TV wins. ©Disney The next Marvel show was The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which aired later in 2021, that basically gave us the buddy cop series we didn’t know we needed. It also set up Sam Wilson as Captain America, which leads us to Marvel’s latest film release, Captain America: Brave New World, which is getting mixed reviews. The TV show, though? Another great example of how to tell the story of two characters who seem to have nothing in common, but somehow mesh. Do you see a pattern here? TV shows have more freedom to tell these characters’ stories SO much better than movies. The Falcon and the Winter Solider That was followed by Hawkeye, who somehow made one of the most boring MCU characters way more interesting (because he had a chance to HAVE a story) while handing the reins to the next generation. Moon Knight brought us an all-new MCU character and made him and his adventures compelling. She-Hulk was a completely different kind of story (as it was in the comics) and made us laugh. Ms. Marvel gave us the joy that is Iman Vellani portraying Kamala Khan. TV knew how to tell these stories in a way that movies just couldn’t. ©Disney We also can’t forget the specials, like Werewolf By Night, as well as the animated What If…? Both of these shows managed to tell Marvel stories many people had never heard about before in entertaining ways. ©Marvel Okay, so we do have to talk about the one TV show that just didn’t hit with audiences. That was Secret Invasion. This felt like a misstep by the studios, although how you can manage to mess up a show starring Samuel L. Jackson is beyond me. But with all the Marvel content being released on Disney+, the track record is still pretty good, although many might call this series a dud. ©Marvel But that leads us to the current slate of Marvel TV. Echo set up the return of Kingpin, who we’ll be seeing more of in Daredevil: Born Again. These shows are a change of pace for Marvel TV on Disney+ because they’re going to be darker than what we’ve previously seen, taking a page from the Netflix shows that came before them. Daredevil, in particular, is going to be HUGE, because this will be the first series from Netflix that is getting new life on Disney’s streamer. ©Marvel Okay, I waited to save the best for last, because Agatha All Along would never have even worked as a movie. This is a show that defies explanation, except that it’s a spin-off of WandaVision starring Agatha Harkness, a character no one would have ever given top billing in a movie. So this witchy little show was a huge hit with viewers and gave us a song we’ll all be singing every Halloween…down, down the witches road…down the witches road. ©Marvel There are also plenty more Marvel shows to come, including the highly-anticipated Wonder Man and Vision Quest. And I for one am grateful because at this point, I’d rather watch these shows on Disney+ and get to know these characters than see them have character development for all of five minutes between explosions on the big screen. The epicness of the Infinity Saga is never going to be repeated on film, so let’s focus on more character-driven pieces instead. Marvel should focus more on TV because it’s the best form of media that lets these characters stretch, breathe, and grow. Stay tuned to DFB for more. runDisney events always bring a certain kind of magic to the parks. From people showing off their medals and posting pictures of their achievements, runDisney welcomes a new crowd of guests to the parks. EPCOT While we love the fun energy, the race courses going right through the parks can also cause park closures and traffic! EPCOT will open at 10:00 AM on February 23rd due to the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Early entry for resort guests will be from 9:30 to 10:00 AM. ©runDisney Tomorrow might be a great day to have a late start to your park day and take some time to enjoy your resort amenities. Take a dip in the pool or enjoy a longer table service breakfast before grabbing your park bag and running to rope drop. Princess Half Marathon Weekend (2023) If you’re planning on park hopping, it might be a good idea to start at another park, like Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, and then take the monorail or Skyliner over when you’re ready to start your journey around the World Showcase. Disney World’s Skyliner The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is a three-day event during which athletes can choose from a 5k, 10k, and half marathon, all themed to their favorite princess! These events start early in the morning and allow runners to race throughout the parks, creating unique memories and photo opportunities. ©Disney Because of these special events, Disney parks are usually more crowded than usual. Be prepared to wait longer for your favorite attraction and character meet-and-greets. If you are planning on getting to the parks at a certain time, you’ll want to be ready for extra traffic, so leave early before your lunch reservation!
