  1. Planning your vacation to Disney World can be stressful, trying to figure out where you’re going to stay, what food to try, what attractions to ride, and everything in between. Don’t worry — that’s why we’re here! Swan & Dolphin We’re Disney World experts, and trust us, we’ve stayed at every single Disney World Resort (no, really, we have). Staying on property often costs a lot of money, but here’s something I wish I knew before I hit “check out” on my most recent vacation. There are different tiers of Disney World Resorts: Deluxe, Moderate, and Value, all offering different perks for your trip. One of our favorite resorts to stay at is the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. This resort gives us deluxe perks at a moderate price. Swan & Dolphin First, let’s talk about the perks! One that we’ll always love is Extended Evening Hours. This gives you extra time in the parks after they close to the public. We love being able to hop on those hard-to-get rides with low waits! Extended Evening Hours at Animal Kingdom We also love the Swan & Dolphin location and transportation. It’s right by EPCOT, so you can walk to the parks in the morning without worrying about crowds or waiting for transportation. International Gateway There’s also a boat that takes you to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Like all Disney Resorts, it also has buses to get to the other parks. All aboard! Don’t forget that just a small walk away is also the Skyliner. There are so many options! Skyliner This sounds pretty great, but what about the prices? We looked at rooms in September 2025, and they were as low as $250 per night. Now THAT’S a steal! Swan Reserve rooms If we compare it to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, which has the same perks and is also in the EPCOT area, the standard price is $682 a night. That’s quite a difference, especially when we’re talking about the same perks. Disney’s BoardWalk Is Swan & Dolphin the hidden gem of Disney World? It might be! It still has fantastic dining options, like Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, which is new, that we have become obsessed with. A whole experience There are six unique pools with whirlpools, fountains, and waterfalls, too. There’s even a lap pool! Swan & Dolphin has so much to do that we’re always excited to book a room, even as Disney locals. Pool at Swan and Dolphin In the meantime, we’re going to keep bringing you all the best deals to make your Disney World vacation the best one yet. Keep following Disney Food Blog for more. 2. Who’s ready to get spooky? Halloween is here at Disney World, and we can think of no greater way to celebrate than to try some ghoulish treats. Skull Meatloaf?! We headed to The Plaza Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom to try their limited-time Halloween dishes. These special eats will be available till October 31st during normal park hours and during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Who’s ready to dive in? The Plaza Restaurant is right on the corner of Main Street and has an early 20th-century style, and serves lunch from 11 AM to 3 PM and dinner from 3 PM to 9 PM. The Plaza Restaurant! Reservations are recommended for this spot, but same-day dining may be available. We love that these are available at the restaurant all day long because we love getting to enjoy the Halloween spirit without having to pay for a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket. The Halloween Additions! All four of these dishes are brand new this year, which makes them even more special! We started off with the Goblins and Ghoulies drink for $16.50, which is made of Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Disaronno Originale Liqueur, apple cider, and pomegranate juice. The Goblins and Ghoulies Dang, this was good! The fruit flavor is very apparent but not overwhelming. It’s not very strong, and it reminded us more of a punch, like a Capri Sun. The rum wasn’t very strong, which was perfect for peeps who don’t love super strong alcohol flavors. You can taste a bit of the spice right on your tongue, but again, it’s not hit you over the head with spices. It was very good and I would absolutely drink again! If you’re looking for a strong rum flavor, this isn’t for you. The top! Then we had the Pumpkin-spiced Coffee Barbecue Pork Sandwich for $19.00. This is made with coffee-rubbed pork featuring Joffrey’s Pumpkin Crème Brûlée Coffee Seasonal Blend, cold brew barbecue sauce, and a slaw with pumpkin-spiced aioli on a purple sweet potato bun. Talk about pumpkin overload! The pork sandwich! Okay, that wasn’t nearly as scary as we thought it would be. Yes, every single item has pumpkin in it, but it’s not like being inside a Jack-O-Lantern, which we had anticipated. The pork is moist and stuck together well, so it’s not super messy. The bun was really good and tasted like a potato bun. Honestly, we wish this was here all year round! The slaw was light and vinegar-based, so it wasn’t too heavy. The crispy onions added a great texture, and they also offer a slight pumpkin taste in each bite that is subtle. It’s a solid option with a fun and different flavor profile. As a bonus, the fries were hot, crispy, and delicious. A look inside! We also had the Skull Meatloaf for $27.00, which is a Caribbean-style glazed meatloaf served with loaded mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. It was supposed to look like a skull, and we didn’t feel like it did, but that might be a pro for some people! We’re in the Halloween spirit just by looking at it. The Skull Meatloaf! It reminds us of making Mummy Meatloaf with my family every year on Halloween. The mashed potatoes had hints of pumpkin spice, which was weird but interesting! It tastes good, but again, it tastes like pumpkin spice, which is different from potatoes. This one definitely had to grow on us. There’s bacon in it, which gives it a bite and cuts through the pumpkin spice. We liked it paired with the meatloaf. So weird but so fun The actual meatloaf was moist, even though it was on the small side. It’s a traditional meatloaf with the crispy ketchup and tomato layer on top that gives it a little bit of sweetness. It is Caribbean style, so it’s not as sweet, but it still feels very traditional. A barbecue sauce was served with it, which helped to cut down on the pumpkin spice flavor as well. It was weird but good, and definitely grew on us after a few bites. A look inside! We weren’t leaving without dessert, so we had the Ghostly Delight Sundae for $9. This sundae is chocolate ice cream topped with chocolate cookie crumbs, marshmallow cream, almonds, sugar cookies, and sprinkles. So what if we cried about how cute it was when it was delivered to my table? We’re just people who are obsessed with ice cream and cartoon ghosts. The Ghostly Delight Sunday After trying this, we can say we think we’re in love. This is SO good. The chocolate ice cream is super creamy and tastes like Rocky Road. The ghost cookies were also delicious. They’re crumbly with that hard icing on top like store-bought sugar cookies (just how we like them). The cookies! The marshmallow fluff in the sides is so fun and easy to eat. Genuinely, we would come back just for this. Plaza Restaurant, please, we need this all year round! No notes! Have a bite! Overall, you should make sure to add The Plaza Restaurant to your Halloween bucket list this year. We had a blast eating these themed eats in a sit-down style restaurant where we could relax before celebrating more Halloween fun. We were pleasantly surprised by these options and, honestly, they just support our request to make Halloween year-round. The menu! Make sure you’re following Disney Food Blog for more! 4. A big event is coming to Disney World SOON. No, we’re not talking about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. We’re talking about Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney. Cinderella Castle Destination D23 is Disney’s largest fan event of the year, and people come from all over the world to attend. This year, it will be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Disney World from August 29th through 31st. The event also hosts exclusive panels where Disney fans can learn more about Disney’s upcoming plans when it comes to TV, movies, and parks. Except, well…this year…something from that list is missing. This year’s Destination D23 does not have a dedicated parks panel. Say what? Yes, we know, there is almost ALWAYS a panel dedicated to discussing Disney parks at the D23 events like this, but when Disney dropped the full Destination D23 schedule recently, we had to read it several times to convince ourselves that, yes, the parks panel that almost always happens isn’t…well…happening this year. ©D23 Considering the amount of projects Disney has going on in parks ALL over the world, that’s weird, right? We certainly thought it was weird. We’re not going to talk about the big Cars expansion or Villains land in Magic Kingdom? We won’t learn more about the new Monsters, Inc. land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Or get more details about Pueblo Esperanza in Disney’s Animal Kingdom? What about the new Coco ride and Avatar land coming to Disneyland? Or the big Avengers Campus expansion? Plus all that’s happening in the international parks? Disney is literally going to give us NOTHING? Villains Land ©Disney Here’s the thing, though. What if Disney is going to use other panels to make those announcements? For example, on Sunday, there’s a panel called “Disney Villains: Icons of Evil.” Disney could very well use that panel to update us on the Villains land in Magic Kingdom. Maybe the “Creating the Happiest Place on Earth” will include Disneyland updates. Avatar land at Disneyland ©Disney There are also several “Disney Around the Globe” panels that could be used to give us updates on what’s going on with international parks. Maybe the “Disney Around the Globe: France” panel will give us an update on Disneyland Paris. But really, who knows what Disney has planned? Maybe the company just doesn’t have any real updates to share, but it does seem odd that its biggest event of the year isn’t including parks announcements, right? We’ll be tuned into Destination D23 throughout the entire weekend, though…just in case. So stay tuned to DFB for more. Disney Releases FULL Schedule for Destination D23 Will you be attending Destination D23? Let us know in the comments! 5. Walt Disney World is rolling out a new pirate-themed hot spot at Magic Kingdom. The Beak and Barrel, located in Adventureland, is designed as an immersive experience that serves drinks, small plates and a big serving of swashbuckling atmosphere. Beak and Barrel, next-door neighbor of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, officially debuts Aug. 29. Disney previewed the space for members of the media Friday. Sea sights The interior decor is all pirate, all over the place. Look any direction to spy multiple ships in bottles, an array of flags, a crackling faux fireplace, melting candles, skulls, squid carvings, big bells, fanciful signs (“no fowl language” and a flier for Walk the Plans Swim School), dozens of portraits of ships and people, including Captain Merry Goldwyn, who, in Disney lore, runs the place. The tavern looks like an extension of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction queue, which resembles a fortress. The Beak ceiling is vaulted, and the floor is stone. It’s fairly dark in the two main rooms, which have a couple of subset nooks, including the map makers’ room. There are lots of two-top seating, but also big tables and heavy-duty booths. Immerse yourself, matey Pirates are a pretty grown-up occupation, but we’re at Magic Kingdom, typically considered a haven for kids. “The great thing about this space is it’s for families,” said Chris Weck, senior creative director. “So it’s not just a bar for adults. It’s a pirate experience. We want to immerse our guests in the world of pirates.” As if the decorations weren’t enough, there are special effects. “We have our barker bird that comes out and is pretty much the host of the bar in all the activities throughout,” said Ken Ricci, executive creative development. “We have our ship’s bell, the sleeping cat. … We have an enchanted rum bottle on the bar. In our Mapmakers’ Room, we have a special-effect compass and some black light effects,” he said. “In our Captain’s Quarters, we have some ships in a bottle that battle. And in our main room, we have a tentacle that moves around.” Eats On the Beak and Barrel menu: corn griddle cakes, octopus tentacles and Island Provisions, which includes plantain chips, blue corn tortillas and toasted flatbread with dips. “Our story takes place somewhere close to where we are in the Caribbean islands, you know, international waters,” said Bobby Rivera, chef de cuisine for concept development. “International flavors are in our food menu, a lot of influences from South America, the Caribbean.” And the octopus? “Octopus plays really well into our theme,” Rivera said. “Don’t let that distract you. It’s actually very refreshing, very savory.” It might be a palate-expanding experience. “We had young pirates that tested throughout the concept and development process, and I think we’ve created this space where they can be really immersed,” said Stephanie Dold, beverage director. “It gives them an opportunity to try new things. … They’re feeling like, ‘OK, this is what pirates would eat.’” Drinks The cocktail menu continues the sea-going theme with items like Siren’s Whisper, Port of Call, Lit Fuse, Barrels Ablaze and the Salty Seas Marrrgarita. Also available: Punderer’s Punch. There’s rum involved, naturally, and it comes in a souvenir pirate skull mug that’s not available elsewhere. There are non-alcoholic options at Beak and Barrel. “I think we’ve really leaned into it in this space,” Dold said. “Pirates were really big into the spice trade, and so we wanted to make sure that that came to life. And some of the beverages we created for kids, they’re a little mysterious in flavor, and we love that because it’s playful.” Getting in This could be a perfect storm of demand: Pirates and alcohol plus the new-at-WDW factor. Beak and Barrel has about 150 seats, but it’s smack in the middle of Magic Kingdom, the most visited theme park in the world. People want to see it, just like the new adults-only GEO-82 lounge at Epcot or Oga’s Cantina, the bar inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. So, advance reservations are highly recommended. To keep the churn going at B&B, parties are limited to 45-minute stays. “You’re not coming in here to sit at a bar and spend the day at the bar,” Weck said. “You’re coming in here for an experience.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. 6. Orlando Science Center is retooling its adults-only Science Night Live event, and that includes adjusting the minimum age for participants to 18 years old. That change starts with this Saturday’s SNL, an after-hours gathering featuring all the current science center exhibits plus a lineup of science-based entertainment lineup with comedy, music and speakers. The evening has been a 21-and-up occasion during its decade of existence, said Jeff Stanford, vice president of marketing for the museum. There was a gap for a couple of years during the pandemic era, and it has been in a rebuilding mode since then. “We needed a little extra incentive to encourage people to come, and the event needed to be refreshed, because it had been going strong for about a decade. … Also, we needed to find a new audience,” Stanford said. “We were getting feedback that college students were very interested in coming to SNL. They were looking for cool things to do in town that were different from typical nightlife,” he said. Kasha Patel, a science-based stand-up comedian, will be part of the lineup at the Aug. 23 edition of Science Night Live. (Orlando Science Center)There’s a sentimental feeling for people who remember youthful family outings or school field trips to science centers here and in other cities. At the same time, the kid-heavy attendance can be a lot for some people during a regular day at the Loch Haven Park museum. “If you don’t have kids, you feel a little awkward elbowing a 9-year-old out of the way,” Stanford said. So, Science Night Live was developed as an opportunity for grown-ups to visit the museum in a mature atmosphere. It also has featured adult beverages and food for sale. Later, additional science-related programming was introduced. For the Aug. 23 SNL, there will be sessions with Kasha Patel, who bills herself as a “science comedian,” science-oriented shows with the Corner Gallery improv group, trivia hosted by Nerd Nite Orlando and presentations by Florida Space Institute researchers Sean Marshall (on near-Earth asteroids) and Phillip Metzger (on shifting heavy industry off the planet). There also will be live music by Beemo, a local five-piece band that plays a mixture of Americana, bluegrass and Celtic folks music. The group, which includes some Lockheed Martin employees, recorded a video for their song “Poison Star” in the Dino Digs area of Orlando Science Center. “The song is related to the last day of the dinosaurs, when dinosaurs looked up and saw that asteroid coming to them,” Stanford said. “It’s fun to show that science-minded guys can rock out, too.” As part of the SNL restructuring, there will be three event nights per year instead of five, and that will make each one more packed with programming, Stanford said. The museum will continue its other adult-centric events including Science on Tap and Science of Wine, he said. “Our mission is to inspire science learning for all, and so that means whether you’re a child or a family with kids or a teenager, or 18 or 25 or 35 or 55 or 65,” Stanford said. Topics at the museum, including nature, outer space and dinosaurs, have universal appeal, he said. “I think you learn better while having fun, so we create that atmosphere that is low-pressure, that is casual and provides some opportunities for lifelong learning,” Stanford said. Hours for the upcoming Science Night Live are 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per person. There will be a cash bar and food for sale. For tickets or more information, go to OSC.org/SNL. dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

  8. Nothing ruins a peaceful resort view faster than a bunch of scaffolding. We’re ready for this to be DONE! If you’ve been to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge lately, you know it hasn’t exactly been looking its most photogenic. Construction walls, blocked pathways, and crews working on guest room refurbishments have been part of the landscape for months. But here’s the exciting part: in just a few weeks, that’s all about to change — and the Lodge will finally get its big “after” reveal. A Long Time Coming Back in August 2024, Disney announced that both the Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas would be getting some exterior refurbishment work. Then in May 2025, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins kicked off a round of guest room updates. Translation: the resort has been in “pardon our pixie dust” mode for a while now. ©Disney While all the amenities have stayed open (pool, dining, and all the cozy lobby seating areas), the truth is, the vibe hasn’t been quite as serene as usual. Depending on where your room is located, you might have caught some mid-day hammering or spotted workers scaling the exterior. And if you’ve strolled near Artist Point, you’ve probably noticed the pathway detour thanks to construction. What’s Been Going On Behind the Walls During our most recent visit, we spotted scaffolding across the backside of the hotel, with work happening on multiple floors. The good news? Roofwork is officially done. Crews are now focusing on the first three floors of the main building, meaning the end is finally in sight. It’s coming along! A Cast Member even told us that the project “shouldn’t be too much longer,” which is Disney-speak for “start getting excited.” Once those last few floors are complete, the scaffolding comes down, the construction walls disappear, and Wilderness Lodge will be back to its picture-perfect self. Why This Matters for Your Trip If you’ve got a reservation for late September or beyond, you’re in luck. You’ll likely be among the first guests to enjoy the refreshed exterior without all the visual clutter. That means sweeping views of Bay Lake, photo ops by the geyser, and quiet moments in the rocking chairs without the buzz of a saw in the background. BEWARE the construction! And yes, while the resort has still been beautiful through all this (we’ll never get tired of that Pacific Northwest theme), there’s no denying the difference a clear, construction-free backdrop makes. What We’re Most Excited to See Again Once the work wraps, here’s what you can look forward to: Unobstructed Views: That gorgeous timber façade will be fully visible again, especially from the dock and pool area. Easier Walkways: No more detours or blocked paths around Artist Point. Relaxed Atmosphere: Even though noise wasn’t terrible during construction, nothing beats pure wilderness-inspired peace. Fresh Updates: Refurbishments usually mean things look cleaner, brighter, and better maintained — which is always a win for your vacation photos. Construction Planning a Stay Soon? If your trip is coming up in the next few weeks before construction officially ends, here are a few tips to make the most of your stay: Request a Quieter Room: Ask for a location away from the active construction zones (Cast Members can help note this on your reservation). Spend Time by the Water: The dock area and lakeside pathways tend to be more peaceful, even during the day. Embrace the Amenities: Wilderness Lodge’s lobby, restaurants, and pool areas are still some of the best on property — and all fully open. The Bottom Line Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is about to get its glow-up, and it’s been a long time coming. In just a month, the scaffolding will come down, the pathways will reopen, and the entire resort will be back to its full, rustic, Instagram-worthy glory. Some areas are closed So whether you’re a longtime Wilderness Lodge fan or you’ve been waiting for the right time to book your first stay, late September could be your moment. Imagine sipping your morning coffee on a balcony overlooking Bay Lake, with nothing but nature — and not a single construction tarp — in sight. Construction We’ll keep checking in on the progress and let you know the second the last of the construction gear rolls out. 10. It’s officially Halloween, or at least it is in Disney World (and who are we to argue with Disney), so Happy Halloween! The Halloween decorations have finally gone up, and the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has arrived. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Speaking of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, we found a little perk that we bet you might not have known about. Now this perk is for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members, who can already get a discount on party tickets, but there’s a freebie you can grab while at select parties: a Halloween tote! On select nights of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, DVC members can stop by Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House in Frontierland and pick up a FREE Halloween tote from 7 PM to midnight. Here are the dates the tote will be available during the party: August 15th, 22nd, and 29th September 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House Note that the normal lounge amenities will not be available during the party. It will strictly serve as a pick-up point for the tote on those evenings. That tote will also come in handy for the party itself. Although you are given a bag for trick-or-treating, I’ve found that it’s always too small for the amount of candy you get, so having an extra larger bag means MORE CANDY. 12. While many EPCOT guests are debating whether to rope drop Cosmic Rewind or Test Track, or debating if Mexico or Canada is the appropriate World Showcase starting point, a growing number of Disney Adults are instead choosing to begin their day in the park’s France Pavilion. France Pavilion EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance, located in the World Showcase just next to the French Pavilion, has been open for decades. However, it’s become much more well-known to many Disney guests with the 2019 opening of the Disney Skyliner station at the entrance. This has led to guests staying at resorts on the Skyliner loop — Art of Animation, Pop Century, the Caribbean Beach Resort, and the Riviera Resort — beginning their EPCOT day in France… and some of them choosing to stay! For many guests, the main draw to entering the France Pavilion is to try and rope drop Remi’s Ratatouille Adventure as quickly as possible. The popular Pixar-based attraction has remained one of EPCOT’s most popular rides since it opened earlier in the decade. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion Currently, Remy’s is often in a three-way race with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the newly reopened Test Track for the title of ECPOT’s busiest ride. In addition, both Remy’s and Test Track are Tier 1 Lightning Lanes, which means guests can only book one of the two prior to their visit. (Cosmic Rewind is only available as a Lightning Lane Single Pass.) Meaning that guests can conceivably use their sole Tier 1 Multi Pass for Test Track while rope-dropping Remy’s through the French pavilion. Hey, Remy! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure isn’t the only attraction available in France, though. For many hardcore Disney aficionados, the Impressions de France film is one of the best examples of the iconic CircleVision film technique Disney has ever made. Impressions de France However, the film is not available all the time. Currently, the classic only runs from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM and again from 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM. In the time between, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along plays. Therefore, fans who have Impressions de France on their must-do bucket list will often hit the film early in the morning to ensure they see it. Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along Once these guests have ridden the Ratatouille Adventure or seen the class film, it’s usually time for… BREAKFAST (or an early lunch, depending on your point of view). Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie offers some of our favorites, including sandwiches, quiche, croissants, and baked goods. Croque Monsieur Of course, you can also head over to La Crêperie de Paris for savory options, including the Classique (featuring ham, egg, and Swiss cheese), Saumon (smoked salmon, Crème Fraîche, chives, and lemon), and the Savoyarde (Raclette cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, and imported Bayonne ham). You get a HEFTY portion of salmon. There are also sweet crepes available, including Gourmande (hazelnut-chocolate spread and whipped cream), Pomme (caramelized apples and caramel Beurre Salé), and Banana (banana and caramel beurre salé). Dessert Crepe Whether to rope drop Remy’s, experience the classic Impressions de France, or simply enjoy the early morning ambiance of a French breakfast, an increasing number of EPCOT guests are choosing to begin their day in Disney’s reproduction of the city of lights. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the latest Disney World trends. The New Procedures You Have to Follow in EPCOT Have you ever begun an EPCOT day in France? How did you enjoy it? 13. Well, pirates, grabbing your seat in the tavern is delayed. ©Disney Yesterday, August 14th, Magic Kingdom‘s newest lounge was supposed to open up reservations. The new lounge, inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean, will be called the Beak and Barrel, and it officially opens on August 29th! After yesterday’s rough day, reservations for the new lounge have officially been delayed. Hey, even pirates have tough days, too! The Beak and Barrel has been highly anticipated since Disney announced it in 2023 at D23. We have followed every bit of news since it was announced, and yesterday, our team was up at the crack of dawn to grab the brand-new Advanced Dining Reservations. (No joke, Disney reservations open at 6 AM EST.) ©Disney Well, despite having our lucky treasure chest, Disney’s website struggled to open the reservations for the new lounge. After waiting most of the day, Disney finally updated the website, confirming that reservations wouldn’t launch on August 14th like we had anticipated. Screenshot from Disney World app Our team spent the day collecting “broken” pages like infinity stones, waiting patiently to get our spot in the pirates’ tavern. ©Disney Disney has finally confirmed reservations will open the week of August 18th, 2025. We seriously hope that this means on August 18th and not just at some point that week! ©Disney This new lounge will continue the story of Pirates of the Caribbean, and it follows Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, who established this “lively pirate pub.” Her first mate, Rummy, will be the tavern’s quartermaster and will keep an eye on the lounge from a roost at the top of the pub. ©Disney We’ve also gotten to check out the menu already ahead of the opening! You can expect to find grub from the galley (including tentacles), non-alcoholic beverages, and specialty cocktails, as well as wine and beer. ©Disney We’re eager to check out the pub once it finally opens on August 29th. Disney, don’t worry, we’ll be sending you extra pixie dust on August 18th, when reservations attempt to open again! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news and updates. 14. In honor of National Roller Coaster Day, celebrated annually on Aug. 16, here’s an updated list of the roller coasters currently running in greater Orlando. This year, aficionados have seen the new Epic Universe theme park deliver four new smooth rides to the lineup, but Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida marks its last day of ups and downs on Sunday. This list is arranged in order of appearance. The Roller Coaster Database is a primary source for the opening dates. Originally, the list was for Orange and Osceola counties, but Polk County is in the mix so as to include Legoland Florida Resort. It’s fun to look at the historic flurries of coasters, such as the Hulk-Rock ‘n’ Roller-Kraken era. Orlando might be in a golden age right now. The area has had a coaster debut every year since 2016, with the exception of the COVID-19 blip of 2020. And now we have the Epic effect on top of all that. When a coaster has been revamped without removal, the list has the current name but its original debut there. 1. Space Mountain Where and when: Magic Kingdom since Jan. 15, 1975 What it does: Nearly identical twin tracks head into the nearly complete darkness of space. What else: It’s held the title of oldest running roller coaster in Florida since 2008, when Starliner was dismantled at the old Cypress Gardens. 2. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Where and when: Magic Kingdom since Nov. 15, 1980 What it does: Rumbles through a Western atmosphere with mining and a dinosaur rib cage. What else: Coaster is currently closed for refurbishment, reopening “with new magic” in 2026, Disney says. 3. Barnstormer Where and when: Magic Kingdom since Oct. 1, 1996 What it does: The junior coaster sports an aviation theme and is designed to look as if it busts through a billboard. What else: Kinda Goofy, but mostly Great Goofini. 4. Journey to Atlantis Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since April 17, 1998 What it does: It’s a dark water ride with a fake-out finale fall that shifts into a roller coaster. What else: It’s SeaWorld’s oldest thrill ride. 5. Trolls Trollercoaster Where and when: Universal Studios since March 13, 1999 What it does: Movie-themed junior coaster with hills, turns and views of DreamWorks Land, which debuted in 2024. What else: It was previously known as Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, part of Woody’s KidZone. Incredible Hulk roller coaster was an opening day attraction at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park in 1999. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)6. Incredible Hulk Where and when: Islands of Adventure since May 28, 1999 What it does: Powers through an unexpected start, dives below the surface of the lagoon and rattles internal organs. What else: An overhaul that began in 2015 replaced the original track and added onboard speakers 7. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Where and when: Disney’s Hollywood Studios since July 29, 1999 What it does: Indoor ride rocks out to Aerosmith following dramatic launch, loops and raucous ride through L.A., superstretch style. What else: Muppets are taking over in the future, but no timeframe has been announced. 8. Kraken Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since June 1, 2000 What it does: The aggressive floorless ride — there are seven inversions — is based on aggressive sea creatures. What else: For a year, the ride came with virtual-reality headsets and was known as Kraken Unleashed. Joe Burbank / Orlando SentinelSeaWorld Orlando visitors try on headsets for a VR roller coaster experience called Kraken Unleashed in 2017. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel)9. Flight of the Hippogriff Where and when: Islands of Adventure since June 29, 2000 What it does: The junior coaster gives unique perspectives of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle and other segments of the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter. What else: For eight years, before being Potterized, it was a Lost Continent coaster called Flying Unicorn. 10. Revenge of the Mummy Where and when: Universal Studios since May 21, 2004 What it does: Coasts through fiery special effects, dark launches, Brendan Fraser interactions and the ominous mid-ride announcement of “death is only the beginning.” What else: The building originally housed the Kongfrontation attraction. CYPRESS GARDENSThe Triple Hurricane coaster debuted at Cypress Gardens in 2004 and was rethemed as Coastersaurus after Legoland Florida moved in. (Orlando Sentinel file)11. Coastersaurus Where and when: Legoland Florida since Nov. 26, 2004 What it does: Wooden, family coaster has some bounce to it and is flanked by dinosaurs made of Lego bricks. What else: The original name from the Cypress Gardens era was Triple Hurricane, reflecting the trio of dips as well as the Charley-Frances-Jeanne hurricane season of 2024. 12. Dragon Where and when: Legoland Florida since Nov. 26, 2004 What it does: Indoor/outdoor coaster in the Lego Kingdoms section includes a relatively steep drop and the breath of a (Lego) dragon. What else: Ride was called Okeechobee Rampage in the Cypress Gardens days, then modified for its Legoland era. 13. Expedition Everest Where and when: Disney’s Animal Kingdom since April 7, 2006 What it does: Travels through mountainous passes, survives steep drops and escapes a yeti with limited arm range. What else: Something non-yeti suddenly goes wrong, and passengers roll backward into the darkness. 14. Super Grover’s Box Car Derby Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since May 7, 2006 What it does: Brightly colored junior coaster — think pink rails — climbs lift hill, glides back to the station after several turns. What else: Before the park’s Sesame Street Land addition, the coaster was called Shamu Express. (RIP). Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Where and when: Universal Studios since Aug. 19, 2009 What it does: Takes riders up a straight-up lift hill and through some scenery while they listen to music they’ve selected. What else: Rockit permanently closes this weekend, and Universal has not announced a replacement. We couldn’t quite face the music and sentimentally left it in this list this time, but also left it out of the numbering. 15. Galaxy Spin Where and when: Fun Spot (Kissimmee) since July 2, 2011 What it does: Carnival-style ride – commonly referred to as the Wild Mouse model – spins four riders in the circular vehicle. What else: It’s a Cypress Gardens transplant. 16. Great Lego Race Where and when: Legoland Florida since Nov. 15, 2011 What it does: Wild Mouse-style ride sports a road rally theme. What else: Originally called Project X by Cypress Gardens. Minifigure-styled virtual reality headsets were added in 2018 but abandoned. 17. Sea Serpent Where and when: Fun Spot (Kissimmee) since Feb. 3, 2012 What it does: A minute-long kiddie ride has a little bit of height. The train has a reptile neck and head up front, tail bringing up the rear. What else: In previous locations, the ride was known as Boa Squeeze. 18. Sea Serpent Where and when: Fun Spot (Orlando) since 2013 What it does: Low-impact kiddie ride with a creature head in front of the train. What else: Lift hill goes to about 8 feet, then descends into a series of dips. Ricardo Ramirez Buxeda / Orlando SentinelWhite Lightning provides air time at the Fun Spot location near Orlando's International Drive. (Ricardo Ramirez Buxeda/Orlando Sentinel)19. White Lightning Where and when: Fun Spot (Orlando) since May 2013 What it does: Bright white wood coaster goes up and back, around a corner, serves up air time. What else: It has more than 2,000 feet of rail and the traditional clackety-clack sounds. 20. Freedom Flyer Where and when: Fun Spot (Orlando) since May 2013 What it does: Suspended coaster — aka legs dangling — flies circles over the north side of the attraction. What else: In 2016, it was ahead of the VR curve with headsets that were first-person shooter style. (That option is no longer available.) 21. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Where and when: Magic Kingdom since May 28, 2014 What it does: Wobbles among gems in a mine, encourages “Heigh-Ho” sing-along and gives fleeting glances of Fantasyland. What else: Watch for an animatronic witch from the past after the action slows. 22. Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts Where and when: Universal Studios since July 8, 2014 What it does: Enclosed ride bounds through the bowels of a bank to battle with Bellatrix Lestrange and Lord Voldemort. What else: It’s a dark ride with a coaster-ish drop at the beginning and rail work. 23. Mako Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since June 10, 2016 What it does: Shark-inspired ride is the tallest (200 feet) and fastest (73 mph) in Orlando. What else: The ride was designed with nine moments of air time. 24. Mine Blower Where and when: Fun Spot (Kissimmee) since June 23, 2017 What it does: It goes into a corkscrew maneuver over the loading station despite a mind-blowing lack of shoulder harnesses. What else: In 2023, key sections of the ride were retracked using Rocky Mountain Construction’s 208 RetraK process. Disney World visitors stroll past the Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster at Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios theme park. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel)25. Slinky Dog Dash Where and when: Disney’s Hollywood Studios since June 30, 2018 What it does: Glides through Andy’s backyard amid oversized playthings in Toy Story Land. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure Where and when: Islands of Adventure since June 13, 2019 What it does: Zips through seven launches but slows through scenes with Fluffy the three-headed dog, a centaur, a blast-ended skrewt and more Wizarding World features. What else: It’s on the plot that was home to Dueling Dragons, which debuted with IOA in 1999. 27. Hurricane Where and when: Old Town in Kissimmee since Dec. 24, 2019 What it does: Very exposed ride with six-passenger vehicles makes most of its speed. Jurassic World VelociCoaster Where and when: Islands of Adventure since June 10, 2021 What it does: The dino-themed coaster has four inversions and memorably accelerates toward a hill before dropping by the ride entrance and then skimming the backside of Hogsmeade. What else: The final maneuver over the water is called the Mosasaurus Roll. 29. Ice Breaker Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since Feb. 18, 2022 What it does: The train goes backward and forward using the same stretch of the rail. And it doesn’t quite crest over the hill for a gotcha moment. What else: That scorpion tail design backs up to be just beyond vertical. 30. Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster Where and when: Peppa Pig Theme Park since Feb. 24, 2022. What it does: There’s a drop that provides a bit of adventure for the most wee of theme park visitors. What else: The queue winds through Peppa’s house. 31. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Where and when: Epcot since May 27, 2022 What it does: The indoor coaster includes spinning outer-space action, an aggressive backward stretch and six soundtracks from back in the day. What else: Something suddenly goes wrong — in the preshow this time — and riders help rescue the Cosmic Generator using jump holes. 32. Tron Lightcycle / Run Where and when: Magic Kingdom since April 4, 2023 What it does: Indoor/outdoor experience uses a face-first Lightcycle vehicle to race for Team Blue. What else: The original version of the ride was constructed at Shanghai Disneyland. 33. Pipeline the Surf Coaster Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since May 27, 2023 What it does: Uses a surfboard-styled ride vehicle that gets passengers off their feet. What else: Location near park entrance gives a first impression from the parking lot. 34. Penguin Trek Where and when: SeaWorld Orlando since July 7, 2024 What it does: Snowmobile-inspired ride vehicle launches out of a building and over the park’s Antarctica area. What else: Visitors exit — by foot — through ice-cold live-penguin habitat. Epic Universe visitors take an after-sunset ride on the Stardust Racers dueling coaster. (Patrick Connolly/Orlando Sentinel)35. Stardust Racers Where and when: Epic Universe since May 22, 2025 What it does: Dueling tracks (similar but not symmetric) provide an intense ride experience with surprisingly close encounters in the Celestial Park area of Epic. What else: Look for the “Back to the Future” / flux capacitor nod on the back of the trains. 36. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders Where and when: Epic Universe since May 22, 2025 What it does: Family-friendly coaster, located in the park’s How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk section — has some oomph and surprises. What else: Riders can see Toothless the dragon as well as the neighboring Stardust Racers. 37. Mine-Cart Madness Where and when: Epic Universe since May 22, 2025 What it does: Universal’s patented coaster technology creates the illusion of cars leaping over gaps in broken track. The storyline incorporates a lot of close calls elsewhere. What else: The Donkey Kong element means there’s loads of yellow in this attraction. Designers went bananas. 38. Curse of the Werewolf Where and when: Epic Universe since May 22, 2025 What it does: There’s so much spinning it’s almost like a teacups ride on a track. What else: The Dark Universe attraction is brief — your stomach may be grateful — so keep your eyes open for a quick werewolf sighting. What’s next The only announced and under-construction roller coaster is a Legoland Florida project. It’s an indoor attraction, themed to outer space and built on the site of the former Flying School coaster, which closed in 2023. The park has not announced a name, but it says the new ride will open in early 2026. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. X account: @themeparks. 15. It’s not a secret that Disney World vacations have gotten rather pricey over the years. Cinderella Castle Every year, the total vacation cost seems to go up as services like Lightning Lane, hotel accommodations, and theme park tickets get more expensive. Will it ever get CHEAPER? Well, this year, Disney World has quite a few discounts available. But unfortunately, that might not be a good sign for the company. If you scroll through the special offers page of the Disney World website these days, you’ll be met with hoards of discounts. There seems to be a deal for every kind of group — from kids to Annual Passholders to Florida Residents to military members. And while that could make your vacation more affordable, it’s a sign of a deeper problem for Disney. Wilderness Lodge When discounts are available all year long or for periods of time that are usually high-traffic, that typically means that bookings are lower overall and demand isn’t as high as it should be. Think, if Disney World is filling hotel rooms left, right, and center, then why on earth would they release a discount to incentivize more people to come? Why offer a discounted rate when they already have enough people paying the regular cost? It wouldn’t make sense. Contemporary Hotel Room So, which discounts seem to be proving that Disney’s in need of more visitors? Well, it starts with the $100 gift card incentive for new Annual Pass purchases. Often, Disney World is less inclined to encourage people to purchase Annual Passes because they’re likely to make more money from you if you keep purchasing tickets outright every time you visit. So having a huge discount for Annual Pass purchases like this is pretty surprising. Annual Passholder Another great example is all the ticket deals available at the moment. There are specially-priced tickets available for military members, 50% off kids’ tickets for the summer, ticket packages for youth groups, and there’s a three-park ticket deal for the general public. That’s a LOT of different ticket offers. Disney World Theme Park Ticket Cards The other major discount to consider is the deals available for the Disney World hotels. There are general rates, discounts for Florida and Georgia residents, savings for Annual Passholders, and most notably, several deals available during the holiday season. We find that last one particularly interesting because the holidays are often the busiest time of the year. Is Disney hurting for holiday reservations? Hollywood Studios Christmas tree This increase in available discounts could have a few root causes. First, there’s the obvious — Disney World might be getting too expensive for most families. If the regular prices are too high, then the demand simply won’t be there, causing Disney to have to lower prices through discounts. EPCOT The other big reason that Disney World bookings might be down is because of the opening of Epic Universe. Universal Orlando’s new theme park has been highly anticipated for the past few years, and it’s home to several popular IPs that could be of interest to the Disney World crowd. People might be holding off on their Disney trips to go to Universal instead. Celestial Park in Epic Universe The good news is that these discounts are helpful for those who want to save some serious dough on their vacation. So if you’ve been waiting to take a Disney World trip, it might be a good idea to go now while the rates are low! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news and updates! 16. There MAY be some major Disney news incoming. Avengers Infinity Defense Later this month, Disney will host the Destination D23 event at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. During the three-day event, which runs from August 29th through the 31st, Disney will likely announce some big and exciting news. Devilish Details At last year’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event in Anaheim, Disney announced — after over 30 years of rumors — that a Villains Land is coming to the “beyond” Big Thunder Mountain expansion pad at the Magic Kingdom. ©Disney At the time, Disney confirmed that the land would be “home to two major attractions, dining, and shopping on an incredibly twisted grand scale.” We’re hoping that this year, Disney will release some more information on these offerings, particularly the themes and perhaps ride systems of the attractions. Muppet Rock! In 2024, Disney also announced that the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith would be rethemed to instead star The Muppets. According to Disney, the new version of the coaster will see Kermit and co. will team up with “some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” ©Disney So far, Disney’s timeline for this change only says the new version will be open in 2026. We’re hoping Disney confirms a bit more, specifically a closing date, so we can say goodbye to the “Bad Boys of Boston” and a tough window for when the Muppet takeover will go live. When Dinosaur Will Go Extinct Disney’s Animal Kingdom is undergoing a massive transformation as DinoLand U.S.A. is being transformed into the new Tropical Americas area. Currently, the park’s Dinosaur attraction is still operating even though it’s going to be refurbished into an Indiana Jones attraction. We’re hoping Disney clarifies exactly when Dinosaur is closing in 2026. The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones. Beyond that, more details on the aforementioned Indiana Jones ride, as well as the land’s upcoming Encanto ride — including names, rough story descriptions, and ride systems — would be welcome. ©Disney Disneyland “Forward” Updates While the Disneyland Forward branding seems to have been dropped, we’re hoping for some further updates on the upcoming additions coming to the Disneyland Resort. These would potentially include story details about the Avengers: Infinity Defense E-Ticket attraction, the name of the upcoming Coco attractions, and information — and the location — of the upcoming Avatar expansion. A D23 Model of the NEW Avatar Land coming soon These are just some of the major news updates we’re hoping to hear about at the Destination D23 event. And Disney always likes to sprinkle in some big and unexpected surprises, so we are looking forward to those as well! Stay tuned to DFB for full coverage of the event. 5 Major Changes Coming to Disney World in September What are you planning to hear at D23? Let us know in the comments below. 17. Yeehaw! A new snack item is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Every toy is going to need to hide, because Sid is coming to the backyard to try his new treat! That’s right, a new treat is coming to Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, and it looks tasty — clearly, Sid has been experimenting again. Woody’s Lunchbox Disney took to Instagram to post the new treat coming to Woody’s Lunch Box, writing in the caption, “Sid, your Lunch Box Tart is almost ready!” before introducing the Sid Spiced Berry Lunch Box Tart. @disneyeats via Instagram This brand-new Sid Spiced Berry Lunch Box Tart is a spiced berry-filled pastry, topped with black marshmallow fondant, red sprinkles, silver sprinkles, and a white chocolate skull. The more we look at it, the tastier it gets. So when can we get this thing? Woody’s Lunch Box seating The new treat drops August 16th, and best believe we will be getting it as soon as we can. 18. We’re gonna be real with you — sometimes the things that make your Disney World trip way better are not the things you want to be photographed in. A complete look! And today’s find? Oh, you’ll get some looks. But your future self (and your future dry feet) will be thanking you. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers We were ready to try these out They’re not cute. They’re not subtle. They are, however, an absolute game-changer if you’re going to Disney World in literally any month of the year — because Florida weather LOVES to ambush you. They come in handy! We’re talking about Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers — basically stretchy, zippered, slip-resistant rain jackets for your sneakers. They go right over your shoes, zip up, and keep the rain, puddles, and park grime out of your socks. They look like something your grandma might wear to prune her roses… but in the best possible way. Why We’re Into Them Here’s the deal: we did not think these things were going to work. When one of our team members first brought a pair, let’s say that we made a bit of fun at their look. Then we walked through a Florida rainstorm together, and they came out dry while I was squishing with every step. Naturally, I asked to try theirs, and I’m now a believer. Shoe Covers They’re made from 100% high-quality, non-toxic silicone rubber. They stretch, they’re reusable, and they’ve got a slip-resistant tread that’s actually better than some regular shoes I’ve worn in the parks. They even have a waterproof zipper strip so you can get them on and off quickly (and so the zipper itself doesn’t leak). Sizing Notes If you’re in between sizes or on the upper edge of a size range? Size up. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers The zipper top is snug, which is great for keeping water out, but it can get uncomfortable if they’re too tight. We definitely recommend going for the bigger size if you’re unsure. Do They Work? Yes. And that’s the most shocking part. Did we just find the ULTIMATE rainy day solution? They kept my sneakers totally dry in one of those classic “the skies just split open” Florida downpours. The only time I noticed water getting in was when I had a gap at the top (my bad) and was walking against the rain, so it was hitting my legs directly and trickling down. If you keep them fitted snugly to your pants or leggings, you’re golden. Why You Might Actually Need These at Disney World Florida weather is chaos. One second it’s 90 degrees and sunny, the next it’s a sideways rainstorm that lasts an hour. If you’ve ever had to walk around the parks with soaked socks and shoes, you know it’s… unpleasant. They never fully dry, they start to smell, and then you have to figure out how to pack them for the trip home without ruining everything else in your suitcase. These shoe covers keep that from happening. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Even if you think, I’ll just wear sandals when it rains, keep in mind that wet pavement + sandals + twelve miles of walking = blisters you do not want. Where You’ll Use Them They’re great for: Surprise Disney rainstorms Tiana’s Bayou Adventure-level soakings Walking through puddles after a storm Muddy park pathways during construction zones Even keeping your shoes clean while grabbing groceries or luggage in a downpour But they’re also super handy outside of Disney — beach trips, camping, fishing, hiking, cycling, and gardening. They fold up small so you can just toss them in your park bag. The Bottom Line You might look a little silly. People might stare. They might even laugh. But when they’re sloshing around in their soaked sneakers and you’re walking in comfort, you’ll get the last laugh. Waterproof shoe covers Trust us — throw a pair in your park bag. You’ll forget you even have them… until the first storm rolls in and you become the driest, happiest person in Disney World. 20. With new entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the debut of a new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom, this summer has been one for the record books across Walt Disney World, especially as incredible cast members across the resort have continued to play an important role day in and day out. During Cool Kid Summer, cast members created unforgettable moments, from leading little ones in engaging dance parties to helping kids in hands-on activities that let creativity and imagination flow. Read on to discover how dynamic cast members have delivered magical moments and engaged with guests in meaningful ways during their Disney World vacation. Create Adventurous Moments with Cast Members at Animal Kingdom At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Cool Kid Summer welcomed a new, limited-time Wilderness Explorers badge that invited guests of all ages to explore nature and rediscover the magic of what makes life wonderful. As little ones have searched for tigers, okapi, and more throughout the park this summer, they’ve also had the chance to participate in some fun, educational activities with the assistance of Wilderness Explorer cast members, including Teresa, an educator at Animal Kingdom. But the adventure doesn’t stop there! Families can roam all around the park to find engaging crafts that teach kids about pollinators, interactive sing-alongs with Dino Institute Interns and that one-of-a-kind Disney magic we all cherish.    Play Games with Cast Members at GoofyCore at EPCOT Since Cool Kid Summer kicked off earlier this year, young families have been having a fantastic time at GoofyCore in EPCOT. With DJ-led dance parties and favorite games with silly twists, it has been almost impossible not to get up and groove with Goofy, his Goof Troop, and world-class cast members who keep the family-friendly vibes going. Fran, a Convention Guide who has worked at Disney for 18 years, is one of those cast members who has loved the opportunity to be a part of it all: There are so many exciting places for kids to explore across EPCOT, but GoofyCore has become a central location where families can come together to share special, playful moments (and enjoy some nice air conditioning!). This fun-filled area has been a great way for kids to take playtime to the next level while cast members make sure every moment matters for guests of all ages. Cast Members Introduce Guests to Characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the limited-time “Get Animated” experience features groovy performances, games, crafts, and beloved characters from both new and timeless stories. At this energetic location, young guests have been able to connect with familiar Disney faces and engaging cast members like Angel, who has welcomed guests traveling from each corner of the globe. Looking for even more characters? Guests can find tips and appearance times with the help of friendly cast members like Angel and the My Disney Experience app. Step Right Up to Summer Fun at Magic Kingdom From special character interactions to sweet summertime dance parties and plenty of family fun zones, Magic Kingdom is the perfect place to make incredible memories this summer. With plenty of exciting things to experience across Disney World during Cool Kid Summer from now through September 1, there’s no wonder that the summer of 2025 has also sparked feelings of nostalgia in so many of us, as we recall some of our own fondest memories at Disney. For a limited-time this fall during the separately ticketed and family-friendly Oogie Boogie Bash, guests will be able to creep throughout 12 treat trails across Disney California Adventure park and encounter the incredibly diabolical Syndrome from Pixar Animation Studios’ The Incredibles and the ever-so-evil Maleficent from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Sleeping Beauty. Beginning with the first Oogie Boogie Bash event night on August 17, these two characters will join in on the fun alongside an incredibly devious lineup of villainous characters on select nights through October 31, including Hades from Hercules and Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb. With plenty of characters to spot, snacks to scoop up, and attractions to board during this family-friendly, after-hours event, this year’s soirée will be filled with ghoulish delights and spirited charm. Tickets are still available for select dates in August at the time of publishing, so act fast! Oogie Boogie Bash 2025 If you’ve been secretly hiding your super suit in your closet for years or wanted to feel even more inspired by the rush of the Halloween season with the wicked wrath of Maleficent, keep reading to discover how and where you can spot these two legendary characters at this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash. Fly Over to Pixar Pier to Spot Syndrome’s Schemes Filled with villainous rage and a desire to be known as a true hero himself, Syndrome will debut for the first time at Oogie Boogie Bash on select nights from August 17 through October 31. During each night of Oogie Boogie Bash, you’ll be able to hear Syndrome’s tactful plans and snarky quips as you scoop up treats being passed out by a friendly Disneyland cast member. Whether you’re his number one fan or an ultimate hero looking to foil his wicked plans, you can spot Syndrome at his own dedicated Oogie Boogie Bash treat trail near the Pixar Pier Band Shell. Stop by for a super time filled with sights and sweets, but be careful of potentially nefarious activity from this fierce villain. Discover Your Inner Evil with the Might of Maleficent You may have walked through Oogie Boogie Bash before and spotted her once upon a dream, but this devious, dark fairy is back with a vengeance this year. Filling the dim night with sinister schemes and ferocious fury, the mistress of all evil flies over to Mountain Road in Grizzly Peak (behind the queue for Grizzly River Run) for an encounter with guests. You’ll be able to deal with Maleficent and all the powers of her imagination on each night of the separately ticketed event this fall, as cast members pass out treats at this unique treat trail. 23. We love Drinking Around the World as much as everyone else, but there’s something NEW in Disney World this month that you cannot miss! Disney Adults Crawl To celebrate the release of AJ Wolfe (yes, our AJ! The creator of DisneyFoodBlog!) and her new book Disney Adults, there’s a NEW drink crawl you can take part in around Disney Springs (and one stop in EPCOT)! Here’s how you can check out each stop on your August trip and support the new book. This crawl is available for the whole month of August, but that also means they’ll ALL be gone after August 31st. The key to remember here is that since this is for a special event, these items are secret and exclusive, so they won’t appear on the menu. Instead, you’ll need to ask your server for them (and be prepared, because then everyone around you will be asking where you got yours!). Some of them even have this souvenir stirrer you can take home! First up at Vivoli il Gelato is The Tipsy Teacup, made with strawberry gelato + peach Bellini prosecco. Not only is this super Instagrammable and creative, but it’s delicious! It’ll melt quick, so be ready to drink/eat it fast, but we truly loved it. Tipsy Teacup Over at Raglan Road, you’ll find the Wild Rosy & Not So Wild Rosy! The alcoholic version has Glendalough Wild Rose Gin, Rockets Botanical Liqueur, homemade rosemary syrup, lemon Pellegrino, and Fever Tree premium tonic, while the non alcoholic version still has those lovely floral flavors but none of the alcohol. Wild Rosy Looking to find every drink on the crawl? Well, you need to download the map! You can get it below: Head over to Homecomin’ to grab the Disney Adults Blue Hooch, which is made with Blue Flame moonshine, lemon-infused moonshine, blue curacao, house-made simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and a splash of Sprite. If you love fruity drinks, you’ll love this one, because despite the moonshine, it tastes like something you’d get sitting on a beach on a tropical island. Disney Adults Blue Hooch If you’re craving a donut and heading over to Everglazed, don’t forget to grab the Disney Adults Refresher. This is made with Blue Raspberry Monin syrup and a white cranberry juice base and is SO refreshing because of how light it is! The sweetness balances well with the tartness, and while it tastes similar to a blue raspberry slushie, it’s toned down and not as sweet. Disney Adults Refresher The BOATHOUSE has one of our favorite drinks, which is the Frozen Duck Duck Razz! The Duck Duck Razz is already iconic in Disney World, and this takes it to the next level. It’s made with Skyy Raspberry Vodka, Blue Curacao, lemon juice, and simple syrup, and it comes with an adorable rubber duck. This is basically an alcoholic blue raspberry slushie in a souvenir cup that we can’t get enough of! Disney Adults Duck Duck Razz Slush Grab yourself the Blue Wave Dave over at Splitsville Luxury Lanes! This is made with Wheatley Vodka, grain alcohol, and blue raspberry and totally tastes like the ocean (minus all the salt). It was tart thanks to the lemonade, but the vodka was super smooth. We couldn’t be happier with it! Blue Wave Dave At La Cava del Tequila over in EPCOT, you can also grab the Disney Adults Margarita! It’s made with Pantalones blanco tequila, Calenda mezcal, botanical aperitif, lime juice, a hint of blue curaçao, and cold foam on top (yes, cold foam on a margarita, and it WORKS), and while it’s not super sweet, you get the botanicals from the aperitif and the smoke from the mezcal on top. Disney Adults Margarita Finally, for one day only, the Mischief Mai Tai was available at Summer House on the Lake on August 5th! It was made with Wicked Dolphin coconut rum, orgeat, blue curaçao, and lemon juice and had a great zing to it, as well as an earthy flavor that evened it out. We were big fans and hope to see it again someday! Mischief Mai Tai We’re always trying all the latest new menu items around Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest reviews and news! Which of these drinks will you grab first? Tell us in the comments! 24. Leaving Magic Kingdom has never been an easy task. From exiting a busy Main Street, U.S.A., to deciding between the monorail or the ferryboat, and dealing with all the crowds, leaving the Most Magical Place on Earth can feel a little less magical. Disney Starlight With Disney World’s newest nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, leaving just got a whole lot more complicated. Here’s what you need to know before you’re heading out of the park. Let’s talk details. Disney Starlight runs at 9 PM and 11 PM most nights at the Magic Kingdom. The fireworks show, Happily Ever After, then runs at 10 PM, which means it can get really busy at night. Magic Kingdom at Night Something great about Starlight that’s different from other parades is that instead of ending on Main Street, it STARTS on Main Street. This is magical because once the parade passes you, you can head up Main Street and leave. You’ll be going with the flow of traffic instead of against it. Disney Starlight crowds! If you’re not planning on staying and watching either the parade or the fireworks, you’re going to want to leave before the parade starts. While fireworks and parade times are great for catching last-minute rides with low waits, if you want to leave without dealing with masses of crowds, the trick is going to be leaving around 8 PM, when everyone is starting to line up for Starlight. Disney Starlight Crowds Catching the first parade and then leaving before the fireworks might also cause some chaos because guests will likely be moving from their parade spot to their fireworks spot, resulting in significant crowd congestion. While it might feel early to leave, waiting might cause longer waits for the ferryboat and monorail, and turn your early evening much later than you thought. Getting on the monorail What if you want to catch the parade and fireworks? Get ready to spend the whole night in Magic Kingdom. Personally, my favorite time in Magic Kingdom is the time after the fireworks. So many people leave immediately after the fireworks, but if you stay a bit longer, attractions usually have lower wait times. TRON Lightcycle / Run at night If you decide to stay, be prepared to wait till after the fireworks and leave with the final crowds from the last show of Starlight. Yes, it’s a late night, but I’d much rather spend my time hopping on one last ride than waiting for the monorail. Let the crowds disperse Don’t forget that you can hang out a little bit longer and wander through the Emporium, the big store on Main Street, and even grab some ice cream or bakery items from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and the Main Street Confectionery. These are open a little past park close, so you can relax and let the crowds leave before you head out. Disney Starlight popcorn mix from the Confectionery Staying past park close sounds like a long day, but remember, you don’t always have to rope drop! Staying over 12 hours in the park for a long time, but you can also leave in the middle of the day, go to the resort and rest, before coming back into the park. You get to control your Disney day. 25. Here at Disney Food Blog, we take the Halloween season very seriously. You’ll always see us hunting for new pumpkins, treats, and enjoying Disney World as it transforms into a Halloween adventure. Mickey pumpkin wreaths are here! If you’ve been following our journey this year, you might have seen that as Halloween decorations started to pop up around Magic Kingdom, we were missing our iconic Mickey pumpkins! Luckily, the classic Mickey pumpkins have been up, but we got another pumpkin-filled surprise. Storybook Circus in Fantasyland got a fall makeover! New decorations! These new pumpkins are so neat. There’s a Timothy Q. Mouse one where he is wearing a witch hat. We love all the bright fall leaves around him. What a great flight! There’s also a Dumbo wreath with his big ears and all. We love that Storybook Circus is getting the fun it deserves. Dumbo! Do you see some hidden details? The Dumbo pumpkins have peanuts in the greenery around the leaves. Love it! Other areas in Fantasyland also got a transformation. There are fall wreaths filled with pumpkins and leaves near Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. There are gemstones in them, too! SO cute We loved the garland near Pooh and Tigger’s meet and greet, too. The sunflowers are so pretty and put us in a fall mood as we walk around. If you look closely, you can see honey bees — perfect for Pooh Bear. Garland Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts August 15th and will run on select nights until October 31st before the park is transformed into a Christmas theme. We’re going to be here opening night of the party to bring you all the best details and reviews so you can make the most of your party ticket.
