  1. These days, we’re seeing construction all OVER Disney World. Disney’s Beach Club Resort Many Disney World hotels are getting updates and changes, and that makes planning your visit for an overnight stay a little bit complicated. Currently, the Yacht and Beach Club are some of the resorts on the refurbishment list, and their construction projects just got extended! The Disney World website has been updated with new information on construction at these two hotels. Both spots are getting routine exterior maintenance, but the timeline for completion of these projects has been extended to 2027. Disney’s Beach Club Resort For Beach Club, there will be routine exterior maintenance until 2027, and as part of that, the port cochere will be closed until September 2025. This work could impact your views around the hotel during your stay, and at times, there may be alternate paths of travel in place to accommodate construction. Disney’s Beach Club will have some exterior maintenance done Disney’s Yacht Club is undergoing exterior maintenance until late 2026. Here, the port cochere will be closed until October 2025. Like Beach Club, some views may be impeded at times, and if construction affects walkways, alternate paths will be put in place. Yacht Club views You may encounter construction equipment and noise at these hotels during the daytime, but all services should remain available throughout. Pools, dining options, and other amenities are scheduled to stay open during construction. Stormalong Bay Another thing to note if you’re planning a stay at these hotels soon is that from January 25th-31st, 2026, the Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment. Since there’s a Skyliner next to Beach Club, many people use it for transportation when staying there. Bus service will be available during that time. Disney Skyliner EPCOT Station Keep these construction projects in mind when planning your next trip — we advise you to check the websites for your hotel before booking and to scope out the refurbishment calendar on the Disney World website to check for attraction closures as well. Knowing about refurbishments will make your trip a lot smoother! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates! 3 Disney World Rides Are CHANGING in 2026 — Click Here! 2. Let us do you a favor — just AVOID these Disney World hotels in 2026. Disney’s Pop Century Resort If you’re already planning your 2026 Disney World vacation, you’re likely trying to decide where you want to stay. And when that’s up for debate, there are some important factors to consider that could make a hotel stay not-so-magical…like major construction projects! All-Star Sports Resort Starting off this list, we’ve got All-Star Sports Resort, which is one of three All-Star Resorts in the Animal Kingdom area of Disney World. From January 2026 until late April 2026, the Surfboard Bay Pool and the kiddie pool at this hotel will be closed for maintenance. All-Star Sports During that time, the Grand Slam Leisure Pool will remain open, but guests staying at All-Star Sports are also welcome to use the pools at All-Star Movies and All-Star Music. However, if you’re planning to stay at one of these hotels during the time of the pool closure, it’s probably just best to choose Movies or Music to begin with — no pool hopping necessary! Animal Kingdom Lodge There are a few major projects coming soon to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge that could affect your stay there. From October 2025 through May 2026, hotel rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will undergo refurbishment, followed by refurbishment work at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge When room refurbishments are happening, you can encounter noise during the daytime and sometimes parts of the hotel will be closed off to make way for workers and equipment. If you’re hoping to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge during this construction project, we would recommend choosing the OPPOSITE building from where the work is happening (so stay in Jambo House until May 2026 and stay at Kidani Village if you’re going June or later). Contemporary Resort & Bay Lake Tower Another hotel pair that’s going to be seeing a lot of construction soon is the Contemporary Resort and its next-door neighbor, Bay Lake Tower. Through July 2026, Disney has stated that there will be refurbishments throughout the two hotels. Then, the Bay Cove Pool, the Cove Bar, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower will temporarily be closed for maintenance from January 26th, 2026, through early May 2026. Contemporary Resort! That’s a lot of construction going on between these two hotels, so it may actually be best to stay elsewhere during these projects. If staying near Magic Kingdom interests you, we would recommend Disney’s Wilderness Lodge across Bay Lake, which offers boat service directly to the park. Grand Floridian Resort Next on our list is the Grand Floridian Resort, but construction here is a little complicated. Work began on the lobby in April 2025, and while Disney hasn’t set an end date to this project, they HAVE noted that it will at least be going through the holiday season. So it’s possible the lobby construction could still affect your 2026 trip. Lobby construction as of July 2025 Disney’s working on adding a new lobby bar to the Grand Floridian, as well as updating some of the furniture and features in this space. If you want to stay in a similar upscale atmosphere (but without the construction), you could try the Yacht Club or BoardWalk Inn instead. Polynesian Village Resort Another hotel to avoid is located next door to the Grand Flo (man, 2026 is a bad year for the Monorail resorts!), the Polynesian Village Resort. Here, refurbishments began around some areas of the hotel this year, and they’re scheduled to last into 2026. This work includes the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort During this time, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted but all amenities should remain available. So what’s a good alternate hotel option if you don’t want to stay here during construction? Well, for those looking for “island vibes,” you can try a stay at Caribbean Beach Resort instead. Pop Century Resort Another Value Resort that will have some construction is Pop Century Resort. This spot is having a resort-wide refurbishment through February 2026. Amenities shouldn’t be impacted, but you will likely encounter noise and equipment during daytime hours. Pop Century For a similar experience with the same Skyliner transportation, try staying at Pop Century’s sister hotel, the Art of Animation Resort. There, the rooms are themed to different animated Disney films. Port Orleans — Riverside Resort Last but not least, we’ve got to share the struggles with Port Orleans — Riverside. From early May 2025 through the end of February 2026, hotel rooms in the Magnolia Bend at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment. Port Orleans Resort — Riverside The good news is that there are currently no refurbishments on the schedule at Port Orleans — French Quarter, so you can plan your stay next door and be even closer to Mickey beignets at Scat Cat’s Club! If you hope to stay at one of these hotels in 2026, try to plan your trip for a time outside of the construction window. That’ll make things a lot easier! 3. Many military families staying at Shades of Green wonder if they can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks without going back into the park. While the resort isn’t an official viewing location, there are still ways to catch glimpses of the Disney fireworks from Shades of Green and even better options nearby for a full experience. 4. While no one wants to cancel a Walt Disney World trip, unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way and forces a change of plans. Cinderella Castle If you ever find yourself in that situation, there are some rules you NEED to know, including a new change that caught me – who’s been visiting Disney theme parks for over 30 years – off guard. The rules for canceling a Walt Disney World vacation without extenuating natural circumstances – we’ll get to those shortly – vary depending on what type of vacation you have booked. Hotel-only reservations – ie, those not tied to a vacation package with theme park tickets – must be canceled 8 days before your scheduled check-in to get a full refund. If you cancel between 0 and 7 days, you will lose the cost of a one-night stay, which is the deposit, but be refunded for the rest. This is a change from the previous rule, which allowed guests to get a full refund when canceling up to 5 days beforehand. This new rule was instituted in 2025, and may be unfamiliar to those who haven’t been to the resort recently. Disney’s Pop Century Resort Vacation packages, which include Walt Disney World accommodation and theme park tickets, can be canceled up to 30 days before arrival without penalty and a full refund. Cancellations made between 3 and 29 days before arrival require a $200 cancellation fee, and cancellations within 2 days of arrival mean the entire package becomes nonrefundable. EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion Now, let’s pick up on those extenuating natural circumstances. Specifically, if a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area or for a guests place of residence within 7 days of their scheduled arrival date, the guest may reschedule or cancel their Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort hotel packages and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees. Most of these room-only and vacation packages can be modified or canceled online, including changes to travel dates. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton Also note, if you need to cancel a Walt Disney World vacation, you will also need to separately cancel any dining reservations or tours. In addition, third-party suppliers, including air transportation, non-Disney hotels, and car rental agencies, will require their own cancellation policies, likely with their own rules. Rental Cars at Orlando International Airport While no one ever wants to cancel a Disney World vacation, it’s important to know how, just in case! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney vacation tips. 3 Disney World Hotels in Desperate Need of New Life Have you ever been forced to cancel a Disney vacation? Let us know in the comments below. 6. When it comes to dining in Disney World, we have been covering every snack and sip for over 15 years! A new special! One of our favorite spots to go for the best Disney food is Disney Springs, the resort’s shopping and dining district! In Disney Springs, you’ll find a bit of everything from fancy table services to easy quick services and even walk-up stands. For us, one of our tried and true spots is The Polite Pig, and we just stopped by to test out their brand-new special! If you were to ask us about quick service favorites, there’s no question that Polite Pig would come up in conversation! This quick service offers amazing modern barbecue, tons of indoor seating, and so many amazing bourbon and cocktail options. The Polite Pig This spot is constantly serving up new and exciting eats like their latest Chef’s Special for $21! It’s Chicken Fried Smoked Pork Belly with black beans, corn, okra, jalapeño sausage, arugula, and shaved radish. The Chef’s Special is a rotating dish that is seasonally inspired. The Chef’s Special! The meat is pork belly that has been chicken fried meaning the pork belly was flattened, coated in seasoned flour or batter, and then fried similar to fried chicken. The pork belly pieces were a pretty decent size, which we appreciated! The pork belly was pretty good with nice and chewy edges and a smoky flavor. The pork belly! The addition of the fried crust did, unfortunately, make it pretty greasy, which was off-putting. The crust was perfectly crispy and flavorful, but the grease added to the pork belly fat wasn’t our favorite texture. The salad was nice, bright, and refreshing, which helped lighten up the meal. Another look at the salad The vegetables were more of a succotash, which was a different mix with the salad and pork belly. It almost felt like a pork belly stew when adding the warm succotash to the salad, making the salad wilt. We would have preferred either the salad or the vegetables. Have a bite of the salad! We felt it was a bit pricey for what felt like essentially a plate of pork belly. It was overall a little confusing, and we would have liked to see some different sides to it. The Polite Pig is still a definitive favorite of ours, but we will probably stick with the Cedar Plank Salmon or the Butcher Board for 2. 8. Have ever done something in Disney World that made you question your life choices? Maybe you convinced yourself that Tower of Terror isn’t THAT bad when you’re terrified of drop rides, but you forced yourself to ride it anyway. Maybe you thought, “Hey, why not?” and jumped on Mission SPACE: Orange, only to discover that you aren’t an astronaut and shouldn’t be on a ride that uses the same device that astronauts train on before going into space (no, really). Coca Cola Store Or maybe you decided to grab a certain beverage in EPCOT (and some of you know where we’re going with this), although you know it’s pretty awful. Okay, well, we did that last thing …but worse. We paid for it. Okay, for the uninitiated, you might not be aware of this, but there’s a place in EPCOT called Club Cool where you can try sodas from around the world FOR FREE. Well, some of the sodas are pretty memorable, but none is more memorable than Beverly, which is something that people make their friends try as a prank. Yep, it’s pretty gross (granted, we know some people like Beverly, but we are not those people). You can try samples of sodas from around the world at Club Cool A little background on Beverly. It’s a carbonated soft drink from Italy as a non-alcoholic apéritif, and it’s very, very, very, BITTER. It’s believed to help digestion, but at the same time, it’s kinda’ hard to stomach. We googled it and, apparently, it has grapefruit rind in itm and that’s what gives it the bitter flavor. Beverly! But did you know you can buy a whole CUP of Beverly in Disney Springs at the Coca-Cola Rooftop Beverage Bar? Well, we visited Disney Springs, recently, and guess what we did? We paid $3 for a 16-oz. cup of Beverly. Why? Who knows? Maybe we thought it would taste better if we paid for it? Maybe we thought a whole cup would give us an acquired taste for it. Beverly at the Coca Cola Store If you’re feeling brave, though, or somehow actually like Beverly, you can also buy a 24 oz. cup of it for $3.50 and a 32 oz. cup for $4. As for us? Well, we’re saving our money and never NEVER doing that to ourselves again. Stay tuned to DFB for more. These 10 Tricks Will Change the Way You Do EPCOT What do you think? 10. Let the games begin! One thing we don’t mess around with at Disney Food Blog is a water bottle for Disney World. Having the perfect water bottle can help take your trip to the next level. We love our Owala water bottle! We asked one of our experts (okay, we asked one of our reporters because we have the BEST TEAM in the world here at DFB), and we’re ranking which bottle you should pick from Amazon. Ready for the battle of the sippiest? DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Let’s start with… Get The Simply Modern Character Water Bottle ©Amazon Coming in last place from the water bottles we’ve tested is the Simply Modern water bottle. We love how cute this bottle is, and it looks a lot smaller than it really is (as in it can hold a lot of water). It’s also functional, but it doesn’t keep water as cool as some of the other double-insulated water bottles we tested. It will do the job, but your water might get warm during a hot day at the parks. View on Amazon Buy the Hydro Flask 24 Oz Straw Cap Bottle Hydro Flask Next up in our ranking is this Hydro Flask. We’ll admit this isn’t our favorite style of water bottle, but the slim design means it fits in your bag a little easier. The top is also super easy to flip up, but it locks in place to stop spillage. It’s a little hard to sip from if you’re at a tilted angle, though. However, it did keep our water cold for about six hours in 90+ degree weather! View on Amazon Get the YETI Rambler 26 oz Bottle Our Yeti! The YETI Rambler is a hefty bottle, so it’s worth the price you pay for it. That bulkiness, though, means it takes up a little extra room in your park bag. It’s also vacuum-insulated, which means your water stays colder longer. It also comes with a second straw to swap out. View on Amazon Buy the Owala Disney Princess FreeSip Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle The Rapunzel Owala So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that our beloved Owala ranks so high, in second place. This water bottle has proven itself time and time again. It’s got a great design, comes in a variety of colors, and has a soft close spout that locks with another layer to keep your water from spilling out. It doesn’t sweat and it keeps your drink cold, along with ice, for several hours, even on the hottest days. View on Amazon Get the Stanley IceFlow Flip Straw 2.0 Water Bottle Our Stanley! Coming in at #1 on our favorite water bottles list is this Stanley. We love everything about this water bottle. The handle flips down on both sides for easy carrying. The top has a nice flushed design. It’s a slimmer bottle, but still hefty enough to keep your water — with ice — cold for HOURS. Our favorite feature of this one, though, is that you can take the lid apart and clean it really well. View on Amazon We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 11. We don’t know about you, but we are feeling EXTRA spooky. That’s because the first Oogie Boogie Bash of the year has officially kicked off in Disney California Adventure, and we were there LIVE checking it all out. Oogie Boogie Bash 2025 More importantly, though, we’re checking out all the exclusive snacks and drinks available at the party and we can’t WAIT to tell you what we think. So without further ado, let’s get to some Oogie Boogie Bash food and drinks reviews! Our first stop was at Award Wieners to try the Chili-Cheese Fries for $13.49. These are Filmstrip Fries topped with Chili, Cheese, Red Onion, and Crushed Spicy Cheese Puffs. Chili-Cheese Fries This only has a small kick to it, so it won’t be spicy unless you’re REALLY sensitive to spice. We rated it 5/5 for taste, as all the flavors combined really well together, as did the textures, but we don’t think it’s worth the price for the portion size. $13 is a lot to pay for a snack that’s not even shareable! Delicious, but EXPENSIVE Then we made our way over to Cars Land to grab the Ube Hot Chocolate with Vanilla Vodka for $16. from the Cozy Cone Motel. It’s topped with Green Vanilla Whipped Topping and Black Sprinkles, and our biggest question here was if THIS is really worth the price? Ube Hot Chocolate with Vanilla Vodka The ube flavor was certainly very prominent here, while the vodka and vanilla taste are pretty minor (and the vanilla tastes more like toasted marshmallow to us). The hot chocolate brings it all together though and makes for a very tasty, boozy drink! However, we suggest grabbing it on a cooler night, because you want it to be warm and comforting instead of something that will make you feel like you’ll overheat! It may not picture well, but it is good! A few snacks are returning to the party this year, including the Loaded Buffalo Chicken Fries at Flo’s V8 Café. These are Steak Fries topped with Blue Cheese and Chicken Tenders tossed in Buffalo Sauce, with Celery Bits and a drizzle of Ranch Dressing for $14.99. We’ve had these in the past and they are tasty and filling, plus we loved the spicy kick of the buffalo sauce. The ranch dressing, though, helps cool things down. Loaded Buffalo Chicken Fries The Carolina Loaded Tenders are also returning to Flo’s V8 Cafe. These are steak fries topped with chicken tenders tossed in a tangy Carolina BBQ sauce, drizzled with dill pickle ranch, and topped with chopped dill pickles for $14.99. The taste of these start out as sweet, but then the heat kicks in. We will warn you that these are a little more than Disney spicy! The ranch, though, does mellow out the spice a bit. 13. Oogie Boogie has officially taken over Disneyland, and the Halloween after-hours event, Oogie Boogie Bash, has started. This separately ticketed event runs on select nights from August 17th to October 31st and allows guests extra time in Disney California Adventure to celebrate Halloween snacks, characters, and entertainment. Maleficient Now, because this is separately ticketed, you’re going to have to pay an additional cost to experience the event, which can make your Disney trip even more expensive. Is it worth it? Let’s find out! Oogie Boogie Bash runs from 6 PM to 11 PM on select nights at Disney California Adventure. Your ticket can get you into the parks as early as 3 PM, so you can experience a little bit more Disney magic before getting into the Halloween spirit. Oogie Boogie Tickets cost $139 to $199 per person, depending on the date of the party. For a family of four, that can cost you between $556 $796 for eight hours of park time. While you can get into the park at 3 PM, if you’re looking to enjoy the whole day in the parks, you’ll need to have separate tickets. Agatha Harkness on an Oogie Boogie Bash Treat Trail What else is included with your ticket? Trick-or-Treating When you check in to the party, you’ll get a free candy bag to help trick-or-treat around DCA! You’ll get scoops of M&M’s, Skittles, Snickers, and so many other candies throughout the night. When you grab the candy, you might even move across Disney Villains! Eek! The 2024 bag! With those villains, there are super-rare ones that we usually only see at Halloween parties. You can go through the lines as many times as you want to get as much candy as you want! Event Guide Entertainment The Frightfully Fun Parade is not one you’re going to want to miss. There are iconic Disney characters like the Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, Jack Skellington, and Mickey and Minnie, of course. Nightmare Before Christmas in the parade You should also check out the Villains Grove, where you’ll go through spooky trails with unique characters in fun themed areas. Some of those areas include: Frollo’s Sanctuary Maleficent’s Will Queen of Hearts Garden Scar’s Elephant Graveyard Dr. Facilier’s Friends on the Other Side The Wicked Queen’s Lightning Forest Home of the Wisps Dawn Dr. Facilier’s Friends on the Other Side There are also a few Halloween overlays at attractions, including: Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark Frightfully Fun Parade Tons of other attractions are open throughout the night, so you can grab a few rides on your favorite attractions. There’s usually low wait times, too! Character Meet and Greets If characters are your thing, these special events are going to be your jam. We’ve seen unique characters like Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle as the Sanderson Sisters, Bruno from Encanto, Sid from Toy Story, Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb, and so many more. Judge Doom at Oogie Boogie Bash Syndrome from The Incredibles was new this year! We’ve never seen him in the parks before, so it’s always so neat to see new characters Syndrome! Photo Opportunities With your ticket, you get access to all of your PhotoPass photos from the night! It’s hugely popular thanks to the rare characters, delectable snacks, and interactive trick-or-treat trails! Those treat trails are a huge reason the event sells out each year, so let’s check out where you can maximize your treats and see what villains will be pulling some tricks along the way. 15. Price increases are, unfortunately, a common Disney World trend. EPCOT EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival begins on August 28th, 2025, and will run through November 22nd, 2025. This festival brings tons of amazing small bites, sips, and so much cheese! This festival is one of our favorites, but it’s going to cost you more in 2025. EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival is kicking off soon! We finally got a full look at the menus coming to the festival, and we noticed one trend that was a little disappointing. There are several price increases coming to lots of our favorite dishes. First, the Canada Booth was a price hike victim. 2024 Canada Booth The favorite Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup served with a pretzel roll is going from $6.00 to $6.25. Plus, the Filet Mignon with mushrooms, Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs mashed potatoes, and Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs butter will raise from $9.75 to $10. Full Spread 2024 At the Belgium Booth, the Beer-braised Beef served with smoked Gouda mashed potatoes is going from $6.25 to $6.75. The Chilled Belgian Coffee will be $5.25 instead of $5. Beer-braised Beef served with smoked gouda mashed potatoes The Bramblewood Bites booth is also seeing some price increases. The Grilled Cider-brined Pork Tenderloin with fennel apple slaw and apple cider gastrique is going from $6.75 to $7. The Spiced Apple Old Fashioned inspired cocktail with Boyd & Blair Rum is going from $12.00 to $12.50. Full Spread at Bramblewood Bites The China Booth‘s Chicken Dumplings with house-made sweet-and-spicy sauce are going from $5.50 to $5.75. The Mango Peach Bubble Tea will go from $7.75 to $8.25. Pan-Fried Chicken Dumplings At Forest and Field, the Pumpkin Mascarpone Ravioli with sage-brown butter, pecorino cheese, and hazelnut praline will cost $5.50 instead of $5.25. Pumpkin Mascarpone Ravioli Say bonjour to some France Booth price increases! The Boeuf Bourguignon was previously $7.95, and it will now cost $8.95. Boeuf Bourguignon, Pommes de terre roties These are just a few of the price increases hitting the Food and Wine festival this year. While it might only be a few cents each time, it can add up over a day of dining in EPCOT! We’re never happy to see a price increase, especially on our favorite bites! 16. The 2025 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is almost here… which means some of our favorite snacks are returning! ©Disney Each year, EPCOT’s premier annual event features a veritable smorgasbord of culinary delights from around the world. Over my 6+ years of covering the festival, I’ve seen plenty of foods come and go to the food booths scattered throughout the park. However, some have remained consistent… and consistently popular amongst our DFB team! These are some of our favorites CONFIRMED to be returning for the 2025 fest! Adobo Yuca Fries Yuca fries This plant-based fry dish – available at The Fry Basket near Test Track for several years now. Adobo Yuca Fries We love that the yuca is cut into large wedges — it really helps the garlic cilantro aioli have more surface area to be drizzled on. The outside was perfectly crispy while the inside was cooked well and stayed fluffy. 2024 The Fry Basket Teriyaki Chicken Bun Teriyaki Chicken Bun We’ve been going back to this steamed bun filled with minced chicken, vegetables, and teriyaki sauce available in Japan for years now. We love a good steamed bun. It was about 60% bao, 40% filling. It’s nice and meaty, but that teriyaki is sweet enough to complement the dough. 2023 Japan Booth Braised Beef Poutine Braised Beef Poutine Available at the Refreshment Port near Canada – naturally – this poutine dish offers French fries with braised beef, mushroom sauce featuring Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs Cheese, cheese curds, and gherkin relish. Poutine Bite The dish was very hearty, the mushroom flavor was incredibly earthy, and the snack was perfectly creamy and delicious. The cheese was plentiful but the curds were a bit tough to navigate through. Still, the texture was wonderful and all the flavors were very present. Refreshment Port Roasted Lamb Chop Roasted Lamb Chop with mint pesto and potato crunchies Available at the Australia booth, this delectable chop is served with mint pesto and crushed salt and vinegar potato chips. Roasted Lamb Chop It was very tender and not too game-y in taste, and we LOVED those potato crunchies. (I mean, who wouldn’t?!) If you’re a fan of lamb, this was actually quite good, and we’d order it again for sure. 2024 Australia Booth Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese and Alpine Ham Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette Alpine Ham, baby potatoes, cornichons, and a baguette SMOTHERED in warm Raclette Swiss Cheese. What’s not to love about this dish from the Alps booth? SO cheesy This has been a DFB favorite for a few years now and we highly recommend it for cheese lovers and those who want something that’s small but surprisingly filling! They melt the cheese on top of the other items right in front of you, so it’s hot and fresh. The Alps Booth Mimosa Flight Mimosa Flight Of course, with all that food, you’ll need to wash it down with a drink. How about sampling 3? Available at Shimmering Sips, this flight of three mimosas features Berry, Blood Orange, and Tropical variations, all of which provide a fruity, tangy, and refreshing blast! Shimmering Sips Booth 2024 Freshly Baked Carrot Cake Freshly-baked Carrot Cake with walnuts and cream cheese icing Of course, you have to finish with dessert. While the fest offers a slew of options, one of the old favorites we always go back to is the Freshly Baked Carrot Cake. Freshly-baked Carrot Cake with walnuts and cream cheese icing Available at Milled and Mulled this year, the cake – which is topped with walnuts and cream cheese icing – always gives us fall vibes with its spice flavors. 2024 Milled & Mulled Booth These are only some of our favorite dishes which are returning to this year’s Food & Wine Festival. Stay tuned to DFB for FULL coverage of the 2025 fest! HOLD ON. Did You Know About This EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Secret? Do you have a go-to Food & Wine favorite? 18. Yesterday was a big day in Universal Orlando, because an iconic ride in Universal Studios had its final day of operation. Rip Ride Rockit Rip Ride Rockit opened in the park in August 2009, meaning that it was in operation for (almost) exactly 16 years to the day! This was one of the most thrilling rides in the park, so now that it’s gone, what will be replacing it? Well, there are a few ideas flying around. Universal hasn’t announced that anything official right now, but many fans are expecting that another thrill ride will replace the attraction. It remains to be seen if the new attraction will reuse the track and ride system already in use, or if it’ll be demolished all together. Construction walls are up Back in March 2025, Universal filed a permit for a new two-story structure to go in this same spot, but that’s about all we have for the new attraction on its way. What does that mean? Well, it could indicate that an indoor element is coming for the new ride. The theming for the new ride hasn’t been revealed, but some people are thinking Ghostbusters, while others are thinking it’ll be themed to Fast & Furious like the new roller coaster being built in Universal Hollywood (however, it’s important to note that there’s already a Fast & Furious ride in this park that currently isn’t very popular, but there aren’t any public plans to close or demolish it). Construction walls We stopped by the park today to check out how the construction walls were looking, and as it currently stands, the ride is still intact. We did see some workers taking the loft up to the top of the ride and taking some photos of the view from there, likely for dismantling purposes. You can hear some banging and sawing from the backside of the ride on occasion, so we do know they’re already hard at work. Hello up there! This certainly isn’t the first roller coaster to close in Universal Orlando throughout the years, and it’s unlikely to be the last. The most recent closure before this was Dragon Challenge closing in 2017 to make way for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and in 2015, Twister…Ride it Out was closed and replaced with Race Through New York With Jimmy Fallon. 19. Disney World has been pretty busy recently after debuting this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. However, it’s about to get EVEN BUSIER thanks to a major convention coming to the resort! Avengers Campus Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney is a large fan event taking place at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Disney World from August 29th through 31st, 2025. This event usually sheds a ton of light on The Walt Disney Company’s long-term plans for its entertainment, parks, cruise line, and more. While this year’s event does not have a dedicated parks panel, it’s still possible we could learn a few tidbits regarding upcoming and ongoing projects at the Disneyland Resort! Not having a park panel doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t get theme park news. It probably indicates we won’t have anything jaw-dropping (we still can’t totally rule out that possibility either), but we still might get updates about projects already in motion — like the big three expansions at Disney California Adventure. California Adventure A new Coco ride is coming to California Adventure, and we recently learned that it’ll be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier in areas that are predominantly backstage currently. ©Disney The new boat ride will be inspired by “beloved classics, like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way through the latest Audio-Animatronics technology. These figures will appear in ways you’ll have to see to believe,” according to Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro. Construction on the ride is supposed to begin in the fall of 2025 and officially break ground in 2026. We hope to learn more about the timeline and ride specifics during the upcoming Destination D23! ©Disney We’re already seeing construction on the Avengers Campus expansion, and since this project is incredibly tangible and moving along, there’s a chance we could actually learn some real information regarding ride specifics and timelines. Avengers Campus construction Disney announced TWO new Marvel attractions coming to the land: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Avengers Infinity Defense is described by Disney featuring the following plot: “Technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere. Recruits will travel to iconic locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City alongside the likes of big and small heroes…You also just might find yourself face-to-face with King Thanos, too.” Avengers Infinity Defense ©Disney Stark Flight Lab will feature Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark as riders “sit in two-person pods and deploy to a test station. Then a robot arm grabs your pod and starts whirling you around in a simulated flight.” Stark Flight Lab ©Disney We’re hoping to get some timeline news and land expansion specifics — after all, more things have to occupy the space than just ride buildings — although no one will complain about getting ride updates, either! Construction wall Finally, we know that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is closing permanently early next year to make way for a new Avatar expansion, but aside from knowing about one attraction, there’s still a lot to learn. Avatar land at Disneyland ©Disney According to Disney, this new land will “draw inspiration from Avatar: The Way of Water and upcoming Avatar films to bring Pandora to life in a brand-new way.” ©Disney There will be a boat ride similar to the Shanghai Disneyland version of Pirates of the Caribbean that will feature the “adventure of a lifetime in search of majestic natural wonders that can only be found on Pandora and the beauty – and danger – that come along with the journey. This new and thrilling excursion will bring all the action, excitement, and wonder of Avatar, taking guests all the way to the wide-open seas of Pandora. This is going to be a dynamic, intense and emotional experience on a grand scale that we know our guests will love.” ©Disney We know that the land will occupy much of the current Hollywood Backlot area, but we still don’t know the exact date construction will start. Destination D23 could provide a closing date for the Monsters, Inc. ride and an elaboration on the new land timeline. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2026, but Disney has noted that the project is still in the early stages of development. This fan event could potentially shed more light on what Disneyland Resort fans should expect. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! 23. The Bahamas are a very popular spot for cruise lines to travel to. Nassau Port in the Bahamas The crystal clear oceans and white sand beaches are an easy allure for many travelers, especially those who live in colder states or don’t have any beaches nearby to visit in/around their hometown. Disney Cruise Line has many stops there (including their own private resort), and other cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines, among others, do the same. However, at Carnival’s newly opened Celebration Key Resort, two different travelers have drowned in one day. ABC News has reported that over the weekend, two travelers drowned in separate incidents at Celebration Key, the $600 million private resort for Carnival Cruise Line guests that opened in July, within three hours of each other. In a statement by Carnival Cruise Lines, the company said, “Our lifeguards and medical team responded to two separate emergency incidents at Celebration Key on Friday — one in the lagoon and one at the beach. Sadly, both guests have passed away.” ©Carnival One of the travelers was a passenger of the Mardi Gras Carnival Cruise Line ship, while the other was sailing on the Carnival Elation. Both were traveling with their families, and the Royal Bahamas Police Force has confirmed they’re looking into both deaths. ©Carnival One victim was a 79-year-old man who became unresponsive while snorkeling off one of the beaches on the island. A lifeguard got him from the water and administered CPR, but to no avail. A few hours later, a 74-year-old woman was discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool at the resort. A lifeguard pulled the woman from the water and administered CPR, but it was unsuccessful. ©Carnival Autopsies are scheduled to be performed to discover the exact cause of death in both cases. The names of the tourists have not been released. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the situation. 24. Hello, hi! I am a self-proclaimed grandma at heart at the ripe age of 29. I am also a Disney adult who loves spending my free time at Disney World. What exactly constitutes a grandma at heart? Well, there isn’t exactly one definition, but for me, I enjoy living a slower life. I am almost always in bed by 9 PM and up before 7 AM. The club life is not the life for me, and I much prefer quieter settings. I would also be perfectly content sitting in a rocking chair and watching the world go by for hours. Plus, crafting is always a yes for me! Magic Kingdom While Disney World is generally a fairly chaotic place, I think there is something for just about anyone to enjoy! So, if you relate to being a grandma at heart, or are just looking for some more low-key things to do in Disney World, you have come to the right place! I am sharing some of my unspoken rules for Magic Kingdom and some of the must-dos if you are looking for a great time. Do Disney World YOUR Way There are really no rules saying you have to do Disney World a certain way. While we are all about giving you the best tips to make the most of your vacation here at DFB, if you want to go find a seat in Magic Kingdom and people watch for the whole day, you can do that too! Magic Kingdom I might recommend a slightly less expensive people watching location if that is all you want to do all day, but I can attest that people watching in Disney World is very entertaining. You don’t have to rush from ride to ride or plan your day out by the minute. There is nothing wrong with doing either of those things, but I often enjoy just meandering my way through Magic Kingdom and just going with the flow. It Is Perfectly Fine to Relax and Take Things Slow Sure, it can be super easy to fall into the mindset that you need to make the most of every single minute of your vacation since Disney World is not a cheap vacation. But it is perfectly okay to relax during your vacation. Grab a bite to eat and find a seat to really enjoy it. Savor your surroundings and take the time to appreciate the details. Magic Kingdom has so much to see beyond the surface, so I really encourage you to take things slow. Hi Pascal! You can look around Main Street, U.S.A. or hunt for the Pascals hidden in Fantasyland. You can also go on a smelling scavenger hunt with the Smellephants on Parade in Storybook Circus. There are lots of treats to try out, and stores to browse. There have definitely been days when I have gone to Magic Kingdom and walked around for a majority of the day. Take the Ferry Boat in the Morning If you are rope dropping Magic Kingdom or heading into the park fairly early in the morning, the ferry boat is the way to go in my opinion. It always feels like a much more relaxing experience to me, and you don’t end up as crammed on as you do in the monorail. The one downside is that there is no AC on the boat, but I always feel so much more relaxed when I take the boat in versus the monorail. If you want to experience the monorail, I recommend taking it in the afternoons! The ferry boat to Magic Kingdom Enjoy the Calmer Attractions Magic Kingdom has some really iconic attractions and a lot of them are on the calmer side. If you are looking for really calm attractions, I suggest checking out the PeopleMover, the Swiss Family Treehouse, Carousel of Progress, The Hall of Presidents, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, or Mickey’s Philharmagic. There are attractions like “it’s a small world”, Haunted Mansion, and Jungle Cruise that are also relaxing. Of course, you can also always squeeze in a more thrilling attraction or two here and there! View from the PeopleMover People Watching CAN Be an Attraction I have said it before, and I will say it again. People watching in Disney World is fantastic entertainment, and I usually dedicate at least a portion of my day to it. Some of my favorite spots include the second floor of Columbia Harbour House at a table near the window, the rocking chairs in Frontierland, watching people come down the drop at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the tables at Tortuga Tavern, and just about any bench I can find in Magic Kingdom. It is always fun watching people experience the park and you will likely spot a melt down or two while you are at it. I LOVE people watching! You Don’t Have to Stay Until Park Close Chances are, I probably won’t make it. There are rare occasions when I manage to stay for fireworks, but in general, I usually leave the park in the early evening so I can be in bed as close to 9 PM as possible. While the Happily Ever After fireworks are lovely and the new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is supposed to be stunning (still trying to build myself up to see it in person…), you can have an amazing time in Magic Kingdom without staying until park close. Plus, you also get to avoid the chaos that is leaving at park close and be curled up in your pajamas in bed while everyone else is trying to leave. Encanto float in Disney Starlight Hopefully these tips will help you plan your Magic Kingdom trip whether you consider yourself a grandma at heart or not! 25. We have an update on Hurricane Erin, which has been upgraded to a Category 5 Hurricane. Rainy Day in Magic Kingdom The National Hurricane Center has issued another advisory for the growing hurricane. The hurricane season is ramping up and is beginning to impact Disney Cruises. The National Hurricane Center has issued another advisory for the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of America. Hurricane Erin is currently located a little over 100 miles north-northeast of Grand Turk Island. ©NHC A tropical wave is creating disorganized showers and thunderstorms connected to the hurricane. The environmental conditions seem to be conducting a gradual development of the storms. The NHC has said this could lead to a tropical depression later this week. Rainy day in Magic Kingdom This depression should move westward across the central Atlantic toward the Leeward Islands. The NHC has said formation over the next 48 hours is low. Chances of formation over the next 7 days are 50%. This comes after Hurricane Erin was upgraded to a Category 5 Hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph. ©NHC The growing storm has impacted sailings— including the August 16th Disney Treasure sailing.
