  1. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has specific rules when it comes to delivering online content to children. ©Disney You’ve probably seen an example of these rules if you’ve ever uploaded a video to YouTube, which asks if your content is specifically “Made for Kids.” This distinction brings YouTube’s content in line with a federal law that protects children from having their data collected and used for advertising. Now, though, according to Variety, the FTC has ordered Disney to pay $10 million for violating that law on the YouTube platform. The FTC alleges that Disney did not designate certain videos on YouTube as “Made for Kids.” According to the FTC complaint, YouTube notified Disney in 2020 that 300 or so of its videos, which included clips from movies like Coco, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Tangled, and Frozen, had not been designated as “Made for Kids.” The complaint states that YouTube redesignated the videos itself, but had to continue doing so with videos posted by Disney up until recently. ©Disney YouTube users can designate videos individually or at the channel level for the kids’ distinction. The complaint alleges that Disney’s policy designated videos at the channel level, but then the company also posted videos oriented to children to its “Not Made for Kids” channels. Those videos include cartoons, sing-alongs, and actors reading children’s books. Meanwhile, Disney obtains a share of YouTube’s ad revenue on the videos it posts, as well as sells advertising directly to YouTube. Comments and autoplay are also disabled on “Made for Kids” videos on YouTube. “Disney’s failure to accurately designate child-directed videos as MFK results in YouTube collecting personal information and placing targeted advertisements on child-directed videos on Disney’s behalf,” the complaint states. ©Disney As a result, Disney has agreed to pay $10 million. In a statement, Disney said, “Supporting the well-being and safety of kids and families is at the heart of what we do. This settlement does not involve Disney owned and operated digital platforms but rather is limited to the distribution of some of our content on YouTube’s platform. Disney has a long tradition of embracing the highest standards of compliance with children’s privacy laws, and we remain committed to investing in the tools needed to continue being a leader in this space.” Stay tuned to DFB for more. 2. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is going through some major changes right now, and even more rides and restaurants will be closing soon to make way for Pueblo Esperanza, the park’s new Tropical Americas-themed land. Meal from Harambe Market Meanwhile, It’s Tough To Be A Bug closed earlier this year to make way for a new attraction coming soon, Zootopia: Better Zoogether. Well, that’s not the end of the changes Animal Kingdom is getting this year. This winter, ANOTHER restaurant in the park, Harambe Market, will temporarily close for refurbishment. The Disney World website has confirmed that Harambe Market will close in winter 2025 for a refurbishment. However, it seems to be a short closure because the dining spot is expected to reopen in early 2026. Harambe Market Harambe Market is a quick service dining spot that features food like African-inspired food like shrimp and chicken bowls, as well as lamb kofta. The popular Frozen Flamingo drink can also be found here. Frozen Flamingo If you’re visiting Animal Kingdom after Harambe Market’s closure, you can always grab a quick meal at places like Eight Spoon Cafe, Flame Tree Barbecue, The Smiling Crocodile, Pizzafari, Satu’li Canteen, and Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes. Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland, U.S.A. will also be open until early February (after that, it will permanently close so Disney can continue construction on Pueblo Esperanza). Satu’li Canteen You’ll want to keep this closure in mind if you’re visiting Animal Kingdom later this year. Note that all of Dinoland, U.S.A. will be closed throughout most of 2026, or at least until construction on Pueblo Esperanza is completed. That could mean you might want to plan accordingly, or take the opportunity to take part in some underrated activities in Animal Kingdom — one of my personal favorites is visiting Conservation Station to take a drawing lesson from a Disney animator, pet some animals, and see Disney’s veterinarians taking care of animals. 4. Disney World is restoring a classic element of the Magic Kingdom to its former glory… and most Disney Adults are ecstatic! Over the rainbow… At the 2025 Destination D23 event, Disney made several major announcements. From a new animated film to an overhaul of a classic attraction, there were a few bits of news out of the Orlando event. However, there was one announcement that seems to move the needle for Disney Adults who grew up in the 90s and have been visiting Disney World for over 30 years, like myself: the original Cinderella Castle color scheme is returning! For the first five decades of its existence (give or take some time spent as a cake or covered in toilet paper… really), the Magic Kingdom’s icon had a blue and grey color scheme, accented with gold. Who remembers the Castle Cake from Disney World’s 25th Anniversary!? However, that changed in 2020 when the Castle was repainted in honor of the 70th anniversary of the release of Cinderella. The new scheme had dark blue roofs, a slight rose pink color, and will have many gold trim accents on the castle Cinderella Castle The new color scheme was somewhat controversial, as many felt it looked too similar to Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle and didn’t fit Magic Kingdom’s aesthetic. However, it remained with seemingly no chance of change… until Destination D23. At the event, Disney announced that the castle would be returning to a “timeless color combination: deep, handsome blues paired with radiant golds.” According to Disney, these colors were chosen to “reflect the Florida sunshine in a way that makes the castle shimmer from every angle.” ©Disney So, what was the reaction? Well, judging by our readers, immensely positive. According to a poll, 70% were in favor of the change. When we reached out for readers’ thoughts, the comments were overwhelmed with responses in favor, many of which professed their love for the color scheme. That said, there were a few responses that said they will miss the cute pink color scheme, and reader Doug, who had one request: “It’s fine, just never, and I mean n-e-v-e-r, turn it into a giant birthday cake again! That was hideous.” Our readers were clear… Disney is reverting the Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle to its classic color scheme, and the vast majority of our Disney Adult readers seem to be in favor of the change! Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney World’s changes. 3 Surprising Takeaways from the NEW Pirates-Themed Tavern in Magic Kingdom Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 5. Get ready to make a splash…or, not make a splash, over in Animal Kingdom. Walls, walls, walls We’ve seen far too many construction walls up in Animal Kingdom, but we might see more pop up in a few weeks. One attraction is undergoing refurbishment, but don’t worry, it’s set to be temporary; however, it can still throw a wrench into your plans. Kali River Rapids in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom will be closing on October 6th and is expected to reopen in December. We got DRENCHED to get this photo. This is a water ride where it’s not a matter of you may get wet — you will get wet! We recommend bringing an extra pair of clothes or shoes and being prepared to throw on your rain poncho if you’re planning on riding it before it goes under refurbishment. Kali River Rapids This month, we officially said goodbye to the Boneyard, the playground in DinoLand U.S.A., as it closed to make way for the Tropical Americas transformation, Puebla Esperanza. DinoLand is currently closing in phases, and we just learned that the final areas of the land will be closing on February 2nd, 2025. If you want to say goodbye to Dr. Seeker before he goes extinct, now’s your chance! Construction Walls featuring Artwork for Tropical Americas Pueblo Esperanza will welcome new characters like Family Madrigal from Encanto and Indiana Jones. For the first time, you’ll be able to enter the Casita and see these characters like never before. ©Disney DINOSAUR is transforming into the Indiana Jones ride, where there will be a new storyline from the Disneyland version. We’re excited to see how different it will be, and even though the attraction doesn’t close till February, we’re already missing trying to save that dino. The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones. ©Disney We can’t forget about the gorgeous carousel coming with tons of different Disney animals to choose from. 8. Cinderella Castle, the centerpiece structure of Magic Kingdom theme park, will be getting a new look that’s kind of like one of its old-timey looks. “We are bringing back a classic color scheme to the castle. … The grays, the creams, the rich blues with some touches of gold that really are the heart of this castle,” said Wyatt Winter, executive producer with Walt Disney Imagineering, during a recent Destination D23 session titled “Beyond the Spires: An Insider Look at Disney Castles.” No time frame was announced for the start or end of the project. Currently, Cinderella Castle ascends into a pinkish, rose-gold hue. The spires were made a deeper blue than before. This look arrived in 2020. It was augmented with gold swag, ribbons and medallions the next year, marking the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. After the celebration ended, the accessories were removed, but the paint stayed. A Disney artist rendering gives an idea of how Cinderella Castle may look in the future. (Courtesy Walt Disney Co.) The D23 panel covered Disney castles worldwide, each of which has its own color designs, said Katie Gibbs, art director with Imagineering. “It’s not a ‘one size fits all.’ In fact, every castle is treated completely differently,” Gibbs said. “A good example of that is the stone on the lower portion of the castle. For instance, here in Florida, we have seven colors on the stone, and when we go to paint it, we actually number each stone so it becomes an actual paint-by-number to get the perfect blend,” she said. “Another trick we do is we tend to keep the darker colors towards the bottom of the castle, and the colors get lighter as they go up,” Gibbs said. “That creates the illusion that the castle is much taller than it really is.” Cinderella Castle has had several looks since it debuted at Magic Kingdom in 1971. One notable version, corresponding with the park’s 25th anniversary in 1996, turned the icon into a giant pink birthday cake. That prompted Pepto-Bismol comparisons and outrage from folks who waited years to have their photos taken in front of the classic castle. Repainting the 189-foot-tall castle and its 27 towers could be a royal pain. It houses Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience, serves as a gateway between the park’s Main Street and Fantasyland, and is a backdrop for stage shows. The job can require cranes and negotiating the moat at its base. And the castle sits squarely in the center of the world’s most visited theme park. “We want to be part of the magic but not ruin the magic,” senior project manager Elaine Schomburg-LaFleur told the Sentinel during the 50th anniversary refurbishment. More castle talk is expected in the next episode of “We Call It Imagineering,” which will be available on YouTube on Sept. 8. “When you step into our park, you see our castle. You want that to be just that great moment,” said Colleen Meyers, WDI executive color design and paint, in a trailer for the episode. “We’ve updated the color every time we’ve repainted it. We want to make sure that every guest that comes has the opportunity to get a really beautiful picture with it,” she said. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. 9. CHANGE has made its way to another Disney World park, and it’s starting to look a little empty in one area. New park map! We’re in for a revival soon at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Between the park’s upcoming attractions at Pueblo Esperanza and Zootopia: Better Zoogether, there’s a LOT to look forward to just on the horizon. This new change is a reflection of the latest closure to the park and a reminder that BIG things are coming. It’s no secret that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is about to undergo a huge transformation. There have been quite a few closures already around the park, like It’s Tough To Be A Bug and parts of DinoLand U.S.A., which have affected the park’s layout noticeably. DinoLand U.S.A. construction But, not only is that reflected as you’re walking around the park, but you can also visualize the changes on the park maps, as well. With the recent closure of The Boneyard playground within DinoLand U.S.A., this meant we would find yet another change to the park’s map. Park map update The updated map has removed the attraction from what’s left of DinoLand U.S.A… DinoLand U.S.A. …and now only depicts the remaining attractions and restaurants like DINOSAUR, The Dino Institute Shop, Restaurautosaurus, Trilo-Bites, and Dino-Bite Snacks. The rest of DinoLand is set to close on February 2nd, which is coming up. Remaining DinoLand U.S.A. offerings You’re only access to this area is a singular pathway between construction walls over already closed and new walls surrounding the former main entrance to the land and the furthest sides of the now extinct attraction. Only a pathway to DINOSAUR It’s a heartbreaking reality of the change that’s already started, but we’re hopeful that the proposed retheming of the entire land will be so spectacular we’ll only miss its former residents a little like a warm memory you revisit. For now, though, there’s still time to visit the remaining remnants of what’s left of DinoLand U.S.A. before we say goodbye to it forever and completely. 10. Starbucks fans, rejoice! A long-closed Disney World location has REOPENED! West Side Starbucks at Disney Springs We’ve seen A LOT of closures and refurbishments lately at Disney World. So it’s a REALLY big deal to us when one of our favorites fully reopens! Luckily for us, Starbucks fans, Disney Springs once again has two locations you can visit while shopping, and there’s something DIFFERENT about this one now. If you’re anything like me and opt to grab a quick beverage at Starbucks as you’re strolling Disney Springs shopping and taking in the atmosphere, you’ve once again got options. Several weeks ago, the West Side Starbucks location had closed temporarily for a refurbishment, and we weren’t quite sure when it would reopen. Construction walls around Starbucks We’re now happy to report that this location has in fact reopened (and just in time for the fall menu’s debut!) We stepped inside Starbucks for a look around and were astounded at what we saw. Entrance As you make your way through the entrance, you’re greeted by a similar setup as before, only this time, you might notice it looks a little different. The mural that decorates just above the ordering counter stretches throughout the room and now depicts a tropical scene with colorful animals, birds, and fanning leaves. Exotic animals It’s a nice update that really helps brighten the room as you walk in and sets the tone for your experience inside. The rest of the seating area indoors and outside looks very similar to the layout that was here before. Aside from a few more lighter touches, this appears to be the biggest difference we were able to note about the reopened location. Dining area If you’re a Starbucks fan of their coffees, teas, drinks, light bites, or even merchandise, you finally have a second location open around Disney Springs that will help you get what you need faster than before. 11. We go to Disney World every day, so we understand the importance of a good quality water bottle. The Rapunzel Owala The Florida heat can be brutal, plus walking miles upon miles a day, you need to stay hydrated. One of the best ways to do this is to bring your own refillable water bottle so you don’t spend $4 a bottle all day! We’ve tested the best 3 water bottles and here are our thoughts to help you decide! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get this Stanley water bottle here Our Stanley! When it comes to tackling the Florida heat at Disney World, staying hydrated is a must, and the Stanley IceFlow Flip Straw 2.0 quickly became our top pick. Price-wise, it’s more in the middle range of a bottle its size, but for performance and convenience, it has officially claimed the number one spot. Carrying Handle There’s a lot to love about this bottle. The handle flips down on both sides, making it super easy to carry, and the sleek, flush design of the top feels thoughtfully made. It’s slimmer like a Hydro Flask, yet hefty enough to keep drinks cold for hours, even maintaining ice throughout a hot park day. Our favorite feature, though, has to be the lid. It completely comes apart for deep cleaning, which is a huge win compared to some other brands, where it’s nearly impossible to scrub those tiny, hard-to-reach spaces in the spout. The lid and sipper Honestly, it’s tough to find something we’d change about this bottle. The 24 oz size feels just right, not too big to weigh you down, and not too small that you’re constantly running back for refills. It’s the perfect balance for long park days where convenience matters. It’s thin too So, is it worth bringing to Disney World? Absolutely. This bottle made our trip so much easier by keeping water cold, refreshing, and always within reach. If you’re debating which water bottle to pack, the Stanley IceFlow Flip Straw 2.0 is a reliable choice that we’d recommend to anyone heading to the parks. View on Amazon There is a reason the Owala Bottle is SO popular The Rapunzel Owala The Owala Disney Princess 24 oz bottle is a clear winner for us and proves once again why Owala continues to be a fan-favorite brand. Price-wise and performance-wise, it holds its own, and honestly, this one is worth every penny, especially if you’re looking for something both functional and stylish to bring to Disney World. The inside! What we love most is the design. The bottle comes in a variety of fun colors, with the Disney Princess edition being an especially magical touch for the parks. The spout features a soft-close design with an extra lock, making it completely spill-proof, which is perfect for tossing in a backpack without worry. It doesn’t sweat on the outside, keeps drinks cold, and maintains ice for several hours, even under the Florida sun. The locking lid There’s very little to criticize here. The slim design makes it easy to carry while still holding plenty of water, and it comes apart easily for cleaning, a big plus for everyday use. It’s also proven durable, surviving drops without a scratch. We love our Owala water bottle! So, do you need it for your Disney trip? Absolutely. This bottle made staying hydrated simple and stress-free, and its practicality, paired with the fun Disney design, makes it a great option for both kids and adults. If you want something dependable and magical, the Owala Disney Princess bottle is a top pick. View on Amazon We love the Yeti Rambler Yeti When it comes to premium water bottles, the Yeti Rambler 26 oz definitely lives up to its reputation. While it’s one of the more expensive options, it earns a resounding yes from us when it comes to value. This bottle is heftier than others we tested, but with that comes top-tier performance. The Straw The Yeti’s vacuum insulation is what sets it apart. It holds water at its initial temperature for an impressively long time, even in the Florida sun. Though it only carries two more ounces than the Hydro Flask, the bulkier design keeps it cooler for longer when exposed directly to the heat. It also comes with a second straw for easy swapping between uses and includes a registered warranty, which is a nice extra that makes it feel worth the higher price tag. YETI Rambler If we had to change anything, it would be the size and design. The bulkiness can make it less convenient to carry compared to slimmer bottles like the Stanley or Hydro Flask. The handle is also static and doesn’t flip down, which could be a drawback for someone who prefers a more streamlined design. That said, the flip-top lid with an airflow valve does make sipping smooth and hassle-free. Yeti For a Disney trip, this bottle is absolutely worth bringing, especially since rides and Disney transportation require drinks to have a lid. The Yeti Rambler 26 oz kept our drinks cold all day long and proved to be a reliable, durable choice for tackling the parks. 12. Disney World’s upcoming hotel addition might change many guests’ Monorail Crawl! Walt Disney World Monorail The Walt Disney World Monorail has been a key part of the “Most Magical Place on Earth” since day one, when it opened as the resort’s initial main transportation apparatus. The Monorail initially connected the Magic Kingdom with the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), the Polynesian Village Resort, and the Contemporary Resort. Stops were added to EPCOT and the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa when they opened in 1982 and 1988 respectively. In addition to providing transportation for guests staying at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian traveling to and from the Magic Kingdom, the Resort Monorail Line also provides those guests — and even those not staying at the aforementioned hotels — the ability to jump back and forth between the hotels to visit their various eating establishments. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Currently, those looking for a drink on the Resort Line would likely drop by the Polynesian’s Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto or Tambu Lounge for a refreshing tropical beverage. They could also head to the Contemporary to visit Outer Rim, or for a slightly more upscale drink at the lounges attached to Steakhouse 71 or the California Grill. At the Grand Floridian, the choices have been slightly more limited — there is the Beauty and the Beast-themed Enchanted Rose. But beyond that, there are a few bar stools at Citricos or Narccoossee’s, and they can be quite hard to get! Steakhouse 71 Lounge However, a new bar is about to enter the fray! As part of an overall refurbishment of the Grand Floridian’s lobby, a brand-new bar is being added. ©Disney Based on the birdcage that had long been part of the hotel’s ambiance, Disney says that this new bar will “pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents.” While details – including the menu – of this upcoming bar have been kept under wraps for now, Disney’s recent history tells us it will likely be stocked with thematically appropriate drinks. Lobby Bar in Progress — August 2025 The new “Birdcage Bar” coming to the Grand Floridian’s lobby will likely make the hotel a must-stop on any Disney Adult’s Monorail Crawl when it opens! 13. Another Disney World attraction is now officially closed FOREVER! The Boneyard We’ve seen a lot of loss lately around Disney World, and we’re back again to update you with yet another that we knew was well on its way out. In between losing Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Belle Riverboat, and draining the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom to make way for new land expansions, we’ve also seen parts of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom already affected by its upcoming overhaul, too. Now, we’re bringing you the latest attraction to close forever in DinoLand U.S.A., and we have to admit this one made us shed a few tears, too! Disney shocked everyone about a year ago when they announced plans for a new land within Disney’s Animal Kingdom based on the Tropical Americas. Inside the land, we’ll find the enchanted Casita from Encanto, a new Indiana Jones ride and storyline to match, and even a new playground for the younger kids to roam. ©Disney || Tropical Americas Land coming to Animal Kingdom However, with this new land, it meant Disney had to find room for the upcoming project, which set its sights on a divisive land originally located in the park. DinoLand U.S.A. opened with the park in 1998; however, in the years since, it’s been in need of a little TLC. As luck would have it, Disney’s had their eye on improvements to DinoLand U.S.A. for some time, and with this new land announced, Disney also confirmed that Pueblo Esperanza’s sprawling land would occupy the space currently known as DinoLand U.S.A. DinoLand, U.S.A. Since the initial announcement at last year’s Destination D23 weekend and its subsequent updates on when we could expect closures of rides and attractions to begin within the land, we’ve already seen evidence of the construction taking place in real time. Now, the time has come to close another beloved attraction forever to make room for the new land’s offerings. As of today, The Boneyard playground is now officially closed indefinitely in DinoLand U.S.A. The Boneyard We knew this closure was coming; however, it doesn’t mean that seeing it completely closed doesn’t tug at our heartstrings. We were given years of laughter and play around its rope course and slides. We were also huge fans of its soft, cushiony ground that helps the little ones out if they were to fall while running around in the play area. But when we went to investigate how Disney would seal off this area for closure, we were met with a full-on stop to the land’s former main entrance. Stopped in our tracks Of course, this closure also means that the Dig Site is closed, where little ones could try their hand at being a paleontologist themselves and digging for dinosaur bones. This was more easily accessed by the side that connects to the Wilderness Explorers stop and Dino-Bite Snacks. No access from the other side either! We’re fond of the memories we made here and will cherish them, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t admit that we’re eager to see what will await us with the new playground that will be found within the land once it’s completely reopened. The Boneyard playground isn’t the last of the DinoLand U.S.A. closures to happen, though. Only a pathway to DINOSAUR You’ve still got time to enjoy Restaurantosaurus, its lounge, and the last remaining ride in the land, Dinosaur, for a few more months. 14. It’s never too early to start talking about the holidays at Disney World, and we’re getting our FIRST LOOK at this year’s upcoming merchandise collections! ©Disney The holidays at Disney World and Disneyland can make you feel right at home without actually being “at home.” There’s just something about the way the snoap falls down Main Street U.S.A, the sounds of the Christmas carols echoing through the park, and of course, the smells of those incredible baked goodies we’re all ready to pick up for ourselves and our loved ones. But, all of those experiences are made even better when you can dress up in the park while visiting, and Disney’s just released a few of the merchandise items we’ll expect to see debut soon! Ah, the holidays at Disney! It’s a time when hope and joy fill the air like no other throughout the year. It’s also one we look forward to because of the extra lights, parties, and parades you’ll find in both Disneyland and Disney World in celebration of all the festivities. ©Disney Disney’s just revealed a peek at some of the merchandise we’ll see hit the parks and online soon, and we’ve gotta be honest — we can hardly wait to get our hands on them! Let’s take a closer look at what they’ve teased so far. Ornaments Online at Disney Store, is where you can already shop a wide selection of ornaments to adorn your Christmas tree! There’s a huge variety of offerings available, representing the classic and new Disney characters and holiday favorites. Muppet fans will appreciate the Kermit and Miss Piggy Light-Up Living Magic Sketchbook Ornament, which celebrates arguably the best holiday classic, The Muppet Christmas Carol. ©Disney Don’t forget there are styles to commemorate your favorite characters, like Pluto’s 95th anniversary… ©Disney …princesses like this one of Ariel and her sidekick, Flounder, from The Little Mermaid… ©Disney …and even Minnie Mouse taking a Dumbo for a spin! ©Disney These make great gifts as souvenirs for your visits or a thoughtful gift that’s perfect for the holiday season. Apparel One of the most anticipated releases we look forward to most is the apparel collections that will eventually hit the Disney stores, both in parks and online. This holiday season, we can already tell there’s so much in store for us, just waiting for its turn to hit the shelves. This year’s Disney holiday merch preview teased the return of the popular wreath ears with a matching red, velvety bow… ©Disney …paired up with an all-new holiday shirt, available in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland styles so you can celebrate no matter which coast you’re visiting. If you’re looking for something a little more cozy, though, this Santa Mickey Mouse plaid holiday sweater is the perfect answer of comfort and classic Disney style. ©Disney Don’t worry — there’s also going to be a matching Minnie Mouse design! Spirit Jersey fans won’t be able to resist the charms of the Fair Isle Spirit Jersey, which will also be offered in designs representative of both Disneyland… ©Disney …and Walt Disney World. ©Disney If your vibe is more of a casual look, then we think you’ll love this Santa Mickey on this pullover hoodie! ©Disney OOH — don’t forget to take a look at this long-sleeve character shirt, too! It’s sporting some of our favorite Disney pals, and a version will be made for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, so you can rep your favorite Disney parks in style. ©Disney And for the mug collectors out there itching to put their favorite hot beverages in for the holidays, there’s even a Santa Mickey mug that’s ready to be your new best companion of the season. ©Disney Isn’t he just adorable?! Hanukkah Hanukkah was meant to be celebrated with light, love, and latkes! This year, that’s also going to include style. ©Disney Share your favorite stories about the Festival of Lights surrounded by friends and loved ones while wearing the Hanukkah pullover crew sweatshirt and drinking yummy cocoa out of the matching mug! ©Disney There’s even something for the pin collectors from this collection, too! ©Disney Celebrate eight nights of light with this year’s Hanukkah pin. Home Décor and Accessories While it’s great to don your festive wear, there’s nothing quite like being able to show off your Disney style in your home decor, though. Both Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be available this holiday season wearing adorable outfits reminiscent of Santa and Mrs. Claus. ©Disney These plushes will be sold separately, and you can find them at Disney parks when they’re ready to make their debut. This Santa Mickey big face canvas tote has had a festive upgrade just in time for the Holiday season! ©Disney We also love the cute BaubleBar Santa Mickey bag charm that’s been paired with him for this preview. Who can resist the charm of a Mickey or Minnie Mouse Christmas stocking to hang by their roaring fireplace for the holidays… ©Disney …or this adorable Squishmallow Gingerbread Mickey plush! ©Disney Hotels, DVC, and More Don’t forget to check out the offerings at the surrounding Disney hotels! Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is a treasure trove to explore during the holidays, and we don’t think you’ll be disappointed by what they’ll have in store when you visit the hotel’s shops. ©Disney Disney Vacation Club members aren’t left out of the fun, either. Members will also be able to purchase an exclusive holiday collection featuring a long-sleeved shirt… ©Disney … short-sleeved shirt, and a quarter-zip pullover sweatshirt featuring Santa Mickey, too! ©Disney While this is just a taste of what’s to come, it’s sure to heighten our excitement for when we finally see everything we’ll be able to shop for during the holiday season. 15. It’s certainly no secret that Disney World is undergoing quite a few transformations throughout its parks and beyond. World Showcase Lagoon For once, though, EPCOT is NOT the problem child (even if we still have PTSD from Wall-COT). Overall, there are no massive transformations going on around this park — but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still changes you might want to know about before your next trip! Changes have hit the World Showcase at EPCOT, and we are loving them! If you’re planning an upcoming trip to the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, make sure you keep an eye out for these updates. EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Booths The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is an annual celebration of global cuisine in Disney World! This year’s event runs from August 28th through November 22nd. France Booth Spread Now that the 2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival has officially kicked off, we’ve eaten our way around the entire festival! There are over 35 Marketplace Food Booths for you to explore and enjoy, and most of them are scattered throughout the World Showcase. To check out our top eats from this year’s festival, click the link below! EVERYTHING You Need To Eat at the 2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Gachapon Corner The Japan Pavilion is one of the best places to shop in EPCOT, and this new addition just proves it. Over in Gachapon Corner, we found these adorable vending machines that look like they’re straight from Japan (because they are!). In the Japan Pavilion We paid and then turned the dial, creating an incredible nostalgic experience, and received our little toy. There are lots to choose from, and we went for a Hello Kitty one. Mystery time! The toys come unassembled, so you get the joy of building them, and then BOOM, you get a little figurine. It’s a fun new addition that we think adults and kiddos alike will love. Learn More About This NEW Experience Here Streetmosphere Is BACK Two brand-new shows have debuted in EPCOT! You’ll find the first show over in the Germany pavilion, called German Freestyle Soccer Duo. This show features the soccer duo, Samu Weller and Camill Hauser! During the show, the two guys talk about the importance of soccer in Germany, what it means to the country, and how much it’s loved there. Look at these tricks! In addition to the soccer duo, make sure you keep an eye out for the other new show located in the France pavilion — Acrobatico! The show features an acrobatic performer who does tricks while stacking chairs and climbing them. Acrobatico! If that wasn’t impressive enough, they do this all while balancing a tray with a full glass of water! Both shows take place several times throughout the day, so make sure you check the My Disney Experience app for the most up-to-date times. Something NEW Has Landed at EPCOT Secret Lounge The Florida Blue Lounge is located in the Morocco Pavilion in what used to be Restaurant Marrakesh, and we’re so thrilled it’s back this year! This lounge is an air-conditioned paradise that gives you a great break from the heat and crowds at Food and Wine. Inside, you’ll find lots of free drinks like Moroccan mint tea, cold brew, water, and more, plus a cool place to take a break from the heat. Inside the lounge The Florida Blue Lounge is open to everyone! However, you do have to register if you want to enter, which can be done in a few ways. You can search for Florida Blue Lounge in the My Disney Experience app, which will direct you to their site, and you’ll put in the information they ask for, or you can visit the Florida Blue website and fill out this form on the lounge page. Find Out More About the Florida Blue Lounge We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates from EPCOT and the rest of Disney World. 16. Halloween has arrived at the Disneyland Resort, and with it comes spooky decorations, characters in costume, and of course, CANDY! Oogie Boogie Bash California Adventure’s Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween Party features highly themed treat trails that bring guests face-to-face with some of Disney’s most notorious villains. According to Disney, these threats bring guests “deeper into the immersive worlds of the mischievous Characters everyone loves to fear. It’s a howl-o-ween adventure filled with frightfully delightful fun for all ages!” But what about the candy? I’ve been covering Disney’s Halloween events for almost 7 years, and one of the most common questions I find myself asked about the Oogie Boogie Bash, as well as its East Coast counterpart Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, is what kind of candy is offered on the treat trails. This year, the Oogie Boogie treat trails offer a large amount of candy options including 3 Musketeers, Craisin Dried Cranberries, Cheddar Goldfish Baked Crackers, Cinnamon Goldfish Giant Grahams, Lifesavers Big Ring Gummies, Lifesavers Gummies, Milk Chocolate M&M’s, Peanut M&M’s, Peanut Butter M&M’s, Milky Way, Nature’s Bakery Fig Bar, Rice Krispies Treats, Skittles Sour Skittles, Wild Berry Skittles (Wild Berry), Skittles Gummies, Wild Berry Skittles Gummies Snickers, Snickers Almond, Snickers Butterscotch Scoop, Snickers Peanut Butter, Starburst FaveREDS, Starburst, and Twix. Treat Bags! While that is a large variety of candy options, one thing that ISN’T offered? Full-size candy bars. Yup, each of the candy bar options on that list are snack-size offerings. However, given the fact that the candy is unlimited and guests can fill up their treat bags, as well as other carriers, including merch bags, backpacks, and pillowcases, we feel like everyone will get enough candy to fill their hearts’ content. Beyond the treat trails, the Oogie Boogie Bash also offers the Frightfully Fun Parade, the Villains Grove themed-takeover of the Redwood Creek Challenge Train, Disney characters in special costumes, decorations, and Halloween-themed attraction overlays including Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark! The 2025 Trick or Treat Bag This year, the Oogie Boogie Bash began on August 17th. The after-hours party’s September and October dates include September 2nd, 9th, 11th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28th, and 30th, and October 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 19th, 21st, 23rd, 26th, 28th, and 31st. 18. Rope dropping your favorite ride at Disney World might sound like the perfect solution, but we’re asking you to pump the brakes on that, as it could affect your expected experience! TRON Lightcycle / Run Most of the time, when you think about rope dropping a ride or attraction at Disney World, you’re looking for the fastest route possible through the standby line so you can get on to the next. If you’re not using Lightning Lane MultiPass or Single Pass, this could be a great alternative to get a jump start on your day. However, we’ve got a word of warning to those who choose to rope drop popular rides, and it comes at a place where you might least expect it. We’re always ready for a rope drop moment here at DFB, and what better way to get your day started at Magic Kingdom than immediately beelining for one of the park’s most popular rides? Not only will you get to be one of the first for the day, but it could significantly decrease your wait time for some of the longest waits you have throughout your day. Rope Drop crowds! On this particular day, though, we decided it would be the perfect opportunity to rope drop TRON Lightcycle / Run, one of our favorites! This thrilling, high-speed coaster is consistently one of the most popular rides in all of Magic Kingdom (which means it’s also consistently one of the longest waits you can expect all day long.) We wondered just how different our experience would be if we were one of the first on the ride for the day, and boy, this experiment did not disappoint! Rope drop crowds While most of our experience through the line was a speedier version of the normal queue line you’ll expect to walk before boarding the ride, things took a turn for us when we entered the preshow room. After walking the standby queue, you’re typically corralled into a smaller preshow room that tells you a little bit about what you can expect while riding the lightcycle during the ride and reveals the track and ride vehicles just below you. It’s a really neat effect when it’s performed and usually gets a resounding “ahh” from your fellow riders waiting around you. TRON Lightcycle / Run queue However, that was not our experience this morning. Nope, we were swiftly ushered into the preshow room only to wait for a brief pause until the door opened, and then we were let on through to the lockers and ultimately on to the ride. Did it really make a mess of things for us this morning? No, and we didn’t seem to mind skipping the preshow, but we can appreciate that there are folks who’ve yet to get the full experience of everything this ride has to offer, and by skipping the preshow, they could feel their experience was a little lacking. No preshow for us So lesson learned — if you’re someone who values the full quality of the ride’s experience from start to finish (especially stopping for preshows), you might want to hang back a few groups if you’re planning on rope dropping a ride. 19. Now that we have one long weekend of 2025 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in our collective belly, let’s also look at our bank balances. Each year, we tally the prices from the many kiosks to answer the theoretical question, “What if we ordered one of everything. What would that cost us?” Comparing fests is an apples and oranges exercise, so this is mostly for fun. But here’s a trend we can get behind: The total for the ultimate fest feast is less in 2025 than it was in 2024. Our methodology is to count up the price of each menu item from the festival passport (also listed on the official Walt Disney World website). If there’s a small and large version, we take the less gluttonous route. When there’s an option to add alcohol to a drink, we go the cheaper way as well. We don’t include flights of beer, but do include them individually in the tally. Allergy-free options are not counted separately. Also in the mix are festival items added to the menu of Epcot’s year-round restaurants such as Connections Eatery and the Refreshment Port. Oh, and for good measure, one bottle of water. Stay hydrated. Montreal-style slider, made with Impossible Beef, plant-based cheddar, tomato jam, bibb lettuce and plant-based garlic aïoli is sold at the Flavors From Fire station during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, which runs daily through Nov. 22. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel) According to the latest calculations, if you get one of every food item at this year’s festival, you will be out $598.57. Throw in the beverages, with and without alcohol, and it’s $869.48 more, bringing the total to $1,468.05. The total for 2024 was $1,656.51, so it’s a decrease of 11.3%. So if you’re in all-you-can-eat mode, you save some coin this year. However, the average cost per plate for both years is a shade over $6.80. Beverage average for this year is $8.24, down from $8.27. These numbers would indicate there are fewer menu choices this year, but you can’t say you can’t find anything to eat at Epcot, can you? Priciest food item on the 2025 menu the French onion burger from Connections Eatery for $14.49, is in line with its usual offerings. Top price for a solid food at a kiosk/ “global marketplace” is the perennially popular filet mignon from Canada, which costs $10. But those are the only foods in double digits. Last year, they topped out at $13. The Hawaii marketplace offers pineapple cheesecake with passion fruit curd and macadamia nuts this year during Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel) Other notes from the tally: • Three new dishes from France are approaching $9 territory. A trio of escargot bites ($8.95), boeuf bourguignon ($8.95) and brioche aux epics avec une garniture mornay de trois fromages ($8.50). Throw in its creme brulee ($6.95) and the French cosmo ($14.95) for a total of $48.30 then waddle back to the parking lot. • More relatively high-end offerings include flauta de barbacoa ($8.75, Mexico), Beijing zhajiang noodles ($8.50, China), bacetti di pizza ($8.75, Italy), seafood roll ($8.75 at Flavors of America), osakana karaage and beefy wagyu don ($8.50 and $9.50, respectively, from Japan), roasted lambchop ($8.75, Australia), short rib ($8.50 at Earth Eats) and zwiebelkucher ($9.79 at the Sommerfest walk-up). Also of note: a huckleberry funnel cake for $12. • For me and my “value conscious” friends, some of the under-$6 offering include all the dumplings at the new Gyoza of the Galaxy; Montreal slider at Flavors From Fire; all the fries at Fry Basket; pot and pea samosa from India; ham and cheese selections at the Alps; strudel from Germany; Basque cheesecake from Spain; chocolate spuma from Italy; three items at Greece; pao de queijo at Brazil; pumpkin-mascarpone ravioli at Forest & Field; a pork slider from Hawaii; Brussels sprouts at Bramblewood Bites; everything at Milled & Mulled, including carrot cake and bisque; and others. • Liquid dieters can go nuts at Brew-Wing with eight drinks, including the return of the pickle milk shake, or at Italy, which also offers eight beverages in the prosecco-chianti- bellini-blood orange margarita family. (Those Italian choices run you $88.75 for the eight.) • Top price for alcohol this year is $16 for GoGi pinot noir, found at the Bramblewood Bites kiosk. Runners-up include the French cosmo ($14.95) Hawaii’s O’aha Sunrise ($14.50) Japan’s sake otokoyama ($14) and China’s baijiu punch and Hainan Prosperity, both for $14.50. • Note that Coastal Eats and Gyozas of the Galaxy marketplaces do not open until Sept. 28. Pace yourself. • Finally, a reminder that price isn’t everything. The festival is designed for browsing and sharing, so bang-for-buck is a personal factor. And some drinks have more bounce per ounce, and that may or may not be a good thing. The Epcot International Food & Wine festival runs daily through Nov. 22. Attendance is included with regular park admission (food and wine is not). Upcoming Eat to the Beat concert performers include KT Tunstall (Friday and Saturday) and TobyMac (Sunday and Monday). 20. Aarg! If you’ve been dying to walk the plank into the new pirate-themed lounge in Magic Kingdom wearing your biggest captain’s hat and parrot, then you’re in the right place. Rummy! We recently went aboard The Beak and Barrel and experienced what it’s like to be a pirate. We dined on incredible eats, drank up the rum, and this spot truly feels like a hidden treasure. While we visited, we discovered three takeaways you should know before you hop in. The first thing we noticed was how much fun the Cast Members were having! There were interactive elements for certain drinks, like the Siren’s Whisper, where, after bringing the drink to the table, they would say they had forgotten something and return with “mermaid tears” to add in. Inside Whenever they came by to check on us, they would also ask if we wanted to hear a joke. If we did, they would tell us a pirate joke, and then they would ask if we needed anything. They had little songs and bits, and we felt like this really took the experience to the next level. Siren’s Whisper Another takeaway was that we loved the food. It was well themed but still packed with flavor. At similar places like Oga’s Cantina, it feels like the food is an afterthought and that we’re really only here for the drinks and unique atmosphere. We appreciated that the effort put into the drinks, food, and atmosphere was equal. Cooks Corn Griddle Cakes with Chipotle-braised Chicken We felt like the food was very on theme for pirates, but was still familiar enough and filled with flavors that we really enjoyed it. We thought the Island Provisions would be a fan favorite, and the Griddle Cakes are great for filling you up on your adventure. There’s even a vegetarian option for the Griddle Cakes, which we appreciated. Island Provisions The final takeaway was that it was surprisingly kid-friendly. While places like Oga’s Cantina are family-friendly, we can acknowledge that there aren’t really kid-friendly menu items in terms of drinks or food. The space is also very dark, and while we’ve seen plenty of kids taking their afternoon nap there, it’s not a space built for the whole family. Treasure Trove While The Beak and Barrel is a darker space, it’s still bright enough to see your food and drinks, and we thought some dishes like the Griddle Cakes would be enjoyed by the whole family. The Island Provisions are also a prites versions of chips and dips, so what’s there not to like? Treasures There are also interactive elements throughout the dining experience. Rummy the parrot comes out about every seven to eight minutes and has little bits where he speaks to the crowd. Sometimes there’s a sing-along or you’ll have to “take cover” while the ship hits the rolling waves. The Beak and Barrel You’ll hear lightning and thunder, but it only lasts for a few seconds, so we think little ones won’t be scared during it, as it’s so brief. The noise level of the restaruant is also lower so you don;t have to worry about the sounds being overwhelming. We truly had a blast (a cannonball blast that is) at The Beak and Barrel, and we’re already planning our next visit. In the meantime, make sure you’re following Disney Food Blog for more. 23. Exciting things are on the horizon in Disney World! We’re talking new rides, a new land, and new dining options. Animal Kingdom is about to look a whole lot different, so let’s talk about what’s going to change. Cuban Sandwich with fries at Restaurantosaurus Recently, Disney dropped some BIG news about the future of Dinoland U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This kitschy, quirky land will soon become a colorful, vibrant new area for people to explore. It’s called Pueblo Esperanza, and Disney Imagineers are drawing inspiration from the Tropical Americas. Here’s what we know so far. During the 2023 D23 Expo, Disney announced that Imagineers are creating a new area inspired by the Tropical Americas! In fact, Pueblo Esperanza will highlight the Tropical Americas through the stories of Encanto and Indiana Jones. ©Disney Now Disney’s ready to confirm another anticipated closure we’ve all been waiting on for a while. Our beloved Restaurantosaurus finally has an official closing date! Inside of Restaurantosaurus The last day to experience Restaurantosaurus before it closes its doors forever on February 2nd, 2026, will be on February 1st, 2026. Right now is the perfect time to refuel here before your next wild adventure in the park. While you’re dining here on the fan favorite Foot-long Hot Dog with Chili and Cheese, an order of A-Maize-ing Magic Munch Fries, or the S’moresosaurus Shake, you might even catch a performance from the Dino Institute Intern — while he’s on a break from his internship duties, singing original dino-themed tunes. Make sure you stop by before it goes extinct! These closures are all underway to make room for the upcoming Pueblo Esperanza land in Animal Kingdom, themed to the tropical Americas. Pueblo Esperanza Concept Art ©Disney So far, we know this land will have two signature attractions, including an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride! Take a DEEP DIVE into the Pueblo Esperanza Carousel concept art HERE! Disney will also build a new Carousel attraction designed for all ages. Look out for some familiar characters on this new attraction, including Kevin from Up! A carousel featuring the resident wood carver’s favorite animals. ©Disney Disney’s concept art depicts Spanish-style architecture, lots of tropical plants, and vibrant colors. A large fountain will act as a focal point in the land, and Disney is calling it a place “where stories will be told by gathering villagers.” Pueblo Esperanza ©Disney We’re still waiting for an exact opening date, but for now, we know that Pueblo Esperanza will open sometime in 2027. Disney also confirmed that construction is set to begin in the fall of 2024, adding, “But don’t worry, you’ll still have plenty of time to experience Dinosaur again (and get that dino).” In the meantime, you can learn about EVERYTHING you can enjoy in Disney’s Animal Kingdom RIGHT NOW!
